Episode description

Third Sunday of Lent

(March 15th, 2020)

John 4 : 5 - 42

Homily from Redemptor Mundi Church by Father Valentinus Bayuhadi Ruseno, OP

We believe that Jesus is our saviour and we believe that we have a personal relationship with Jesus, and we called Him as our friend, teacher, or our brother but does any of you ever call Jesus as our bridegroom. Some of us will think it's okay to have Jesus as our spouse but what about if we are married? to answer this question we should see the gospel. The well symbolising a married couple, as we see Jacob in genesis he met his wifes Rachel & Leah at the well, Moses also met his wife at the well and lastly Jesus and the Samaritan women was at the well. Now days we meet our spouse online, but at the ancient time we meet our spouse at the well. Of course we all know that Jesus is always single during His lifetime, dead and untill He resurrected, we are not talking literally but theologically here, Jesus is married with His Church, the Samaritan woman represents the Church. This Woman struggling with sin as all of us the Church does, He is the best spouse to be looked up to, let us be more like Him.  Now days we are struggling together to fight the Corona Virus, and many of us is anxious and fearing for our own safety, and all of these made us selfish at times. We need to be more like Jesus towards others, observe around us and see how others are struggling even more severely than us and help those people in need.
