¶
Hello everyone, everywhere. Pastor Bob Thibodeau here. Welcome to the faith based business podcast today. We're so blessed that you joining us again today.
¶ Mastering Faith Based Storytelling
You know, we've been talking about, you know, mastering the art of faith based storytelling and, and we're going to continue down that line today, all in an effort to show you that sharing your faith, well, building or growing your ministry is one of the most important things that you can do. Let me go ahead and share this screen here and we'll jump right into today's teaching.
Praise the Lord. And you know, today I want to, to look at how to actually craft these stories so that you can connect with your intended audience basically on a deeper level. Amen.
¶ Understanding Your Audience for Effective Storytelling
Now first, you need to have a thorough understanding of what it is your audience really needs. Understanding your audience is the key to effective storytelling. You know what challenges they're facing, you know what questions or fears that do they have. When you know these things, you can tailor your story to address them directly. I mean, this shows your audience that you see them, that you understand them, you understand their needs.
And this helps build trust and encourages them to engage with you and especially when they engage with your message. Amen. So your most impactful stories will often be the ones that reflect your audience's struggles, their hopes, their desires. Select stories that mirror these, these common experiences.
When your listeners see themselves in your story, that's when they connect with your story on a deeper level and it helps them, helps them to feel understood and less alone going through their problems. Authenticity, though, in storytelling isn't about presenting yourself as being perfect. Okay, don't, don't try to strive for that aspect of it. It's about showing your real human side. That's what they'll connect with. Share your own challenges with them.
Share your moments of doubt, share your personal breakthroughs. When you let your guard down, it allows your audience to do the same thing that creates a bond that, that really will take your message and make it more relatable to them. It'll inspire them and it definitely becomes more memorable for them. Amen.
¶ Building Genuine Connections Through Empathy
And craft your story with language that demonstrate your empathy. Express understanding of, of the struggles and the emotions that many of your listeners might be facing right at that very moment. Empathy will communicate that you care about their experience and it makes your audience basically feel safe, feel heard, which if you want to get right down to it, that's essential for genuine connections, right?
Amen. Not only should your audience emphasize with your story, they need to understand that you emphasize with the struggles and challenges they are facing that you understand what they're going through. And a powerful story doesn't just recount an experience. It shows growth. It demonstrates change. And share how your faith helped you navigate through a difficult situation, highlighting how it transformed you, made you better.
Include examples of how your training combined with your faith, allowed you to overcome difficulties that that ultimately helped you achieve success. Amen. This shows your audience that growth is possible for them no matter what they're going through. And it gives them hope that they will also be able to overcome their challenges, just as you did.
Now, usually the next question I'll receive is about using scripture in your presentations or in the workplace or things along, you know, that line, you know, and you know, people say, well, you know, you don't want to be preaching. And that's true. You don't want to be preaching. Okay. But the answer I usually give is, well, tell you what, we'll save that for next time. Praise God. Hallelujah. That's my hook. Get you come back next time. Amen. Amen. Glory to God. Let's stop that share here now.
¶ Authenticity in Communication
For now, let's just suffer to say that, that you need to be authentic in all that you do. Amen. And we'll take it up here next time. For more information, sharing your faith and what you do, whatever that may be, whether it's, you know, whether trainings or sales or you're an author, whatever the case may be.
