Episode description

Fairfax County’s two genealogical societies, Mount Vernon and Fairfax, together with the staff of the Library’s Virginia Room, provide a great deal of resources and lectures to help you with your genealogical quest. These groups also offer something called Special Interest Groups or SIGS. On this edition, host Jim Person talks with Laura Wickstead, the county’s Virginia Room librarian, and Emma Marshall, an African American SIG member who is also the community outreach manager for the county’s Foster Care and Adoption program, about the African American SIG and African American genealogy.
