Jen here, and do I have a treat for you today! I just had an absolutely enlightening chat with the fabulous Julie Menanno. If you don’t already know her, she’s a relationship guru specializing in emotionally focused therapy (EFT), attachment theory, and the fine art of turning relationship chaos into secure love.

Julie broke it down for us: Most of her couples—about 90%—fall into this “anxious-avoidant” tango. One partner’s basically a golden retriever, desperate for constant affection, while the other is a turtle, retreating into their shell to avoid all that emotional messiness. Sound familiar?

Julie also tackled the big, scary jungle that is finding a good therapist. Spoiler alert: It’s like hunting for a unicorn. Emotionally focused therapy is where it’s at, but mastering it is no small feat. Luckily, Julie’s team operates as coaches and tackles issues across state lines (no magic carpet needed).
