Episode description

Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened marginally (略微地) down this morning from yesterday's close, at 22,691 on turnover of 5-billion N-T. The market rebounded from Friday's downturn on Monday - gaining almost 400 points on the back of a rally by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing. Analysts say market sentiment improved as investors reacted to gains on Wall Street at the end of last week - where better-than-expected nonfarm payroll data for September indicated that the U-S economy remains resilient. Environmental Groups Pan Recommended Carbon Fee Environmental groups are criticizing the basic carbon fee and preferential rates proposed by the government - calling them "passive" and too low to affect the behavior of big carbon emitters. The criticisim comes after a review committee recommended setting a basic carbon fee rate of 300 N-T per metric ton of carbon emissions. The groups says the basic carbon fees are too low to effectively reduce carbon emissions and companies could see them as an affordable (付得起的) operating expense or pass them on to consumers rather than invest resources to reduce emissions and the fees. The Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards is now in its sixth year. It's organized jointly by the Busan International Film Festival and South Korea's National I-T Industry Promotion Agency. NKorea Kim Issues Warning for Nuclear Weapons North Korea says leader Kim Jong Un has warned again that he could use nuclear weapons in potential conflicts with South Korea and the United States. State media today said Kim made such a warning in his speech at a university. Kim said North Korea’s nuclear response posture must be fully enhanced because South Korea and the United States are pushing to beef up their military alliance based on joint nuclear and strategic planning, a move that he said would increase (增加) the danger of breaking the balance of power on the Korean Peninsula. Kim has issued similar threats to use nuclear weapons preemptively numerous times, but his latest warning came as outside experts say North Korea could ramp up animosities ahead of next month’s U.S. presidential election. US Scientists Win Nobel for microMRNA Discovery American scientists Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun have won this year's Nobel Prize in physiology (生理)or medicine for the discovery of microRNA, a tiny molecule that governs how cells in the body function.
