This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Subscribe now to the podcast on the iHeartRadio app Just Surgery. I on the Ball. Hey, welcome back to My the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, he's Jay. They have Adam with breaking news. This is I on the Ball Breaking News on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. All right, so we're gonna start off with again Patrick Beverly.

The Indianapolis Police announced Wednesday they've opened an investigation into Patrick Beverly and the citizen altercation that happened with Beverly throwing the ball at a fan in the final minute. Did they say why and I'll go to your hat again of cop being a cop reporter, do you think the person who got on the end of the ball would have to file a complaint or is it just something that people saw and you saw something happen? What created this that that can happen in

in two ways? They because somebody doesn't have to file complain for them to investigate a crime. So you know, somebody in the police department or even the prosecutors officer say, you know what, we better, we better take a look at that, and so they take a look at it. They'll go to talk to everybody, and it may be that they'll go to the they'll go to the person, you know, and they'll say, you know what, I I don't want to do this and then and that'll end it.

Or that person can report Patrick Beverley to the police and say he assaulted me. I want you know, I want to consider pressing charges against this guy, and then they can look it. So it can happen one of two ways. So did it say did it say who who? Who started this? Nay, they're just looking into it. Yeah, I think it would have said if if the spectator was asking, you know, you could

have said the spectator is pressing charges against Patrick Beverley if they did. If it didn't say that, it's probably one of those things where you know, the prosecutors officer saying, look, this was video millions of people saw. If we don't do something, people are gonna say, just check into it. So they're at least going to look into it. And like I said, probably the first thing they'll do is they'll go ask the the person,

look, do you want to press charges on this? And if the person says, I don't you know, no, I'm gonna assume him and get my money, you know, or whatever they say. You know, they could just say that, okay. Also for their news on Jamal Murray, he's he was docked one hundred thousand dollars for a fine, but no suspension for throwing Again. We talked about it yesterday, throwing the feedback on the court at the referee almost hit a player, I guess, But no suspension,

dummy. So that's like Tim Bucks to you and me. Yeah, yeah, you know, he'll, you know, he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll push the seat of his back, the back seat of his car over and he'll get the money, and yeah, he'll be done. That's your education, right, your education in Tim Bucks to him and me. Yeah. Absolutely. This is interesting. So former shoe Heey Otani's former interpreter was apparently wiring stolen funds to a Real Housewife star of Orange County. What

Yeah, the former interpreter of Otani. The guy's name was the Ryan Boyajon, a current cast member of Bravo's reality TV series The Real Housewives of Orange County. Again, he was accused of stealing nearly seventeen million to feed what he described to be a gambling addiction, So that that's very weird. But saying he was was he the was that guy the bookie or is it? It's not clear? Uh yeah, I'm not so sure why they're close friends,

business associates for nearly twenty years. Did that guy end up with the money? That's the house wife guy? Uh? He loaned oh money to him, and I guess, uh, that's how he's playing on that. I'm not not positive, but it's a little weird turn it is. It is the Pittsburgh pirates are calling up the former number one pick. I believe Paul Schemes h throws over one hundred miles per hour. So he's coming up

to the big show. When whatever happened to what's the mike? Oh yeah, yeah, he's in the triple He hasn't done he hasn't hit well, I don't think yeah from Pittsburgh. Yeah, yeah, I haven't heard. I don't think he's he's in triple A. NFL. There's some news in the NFL. This isn't regarding sports, but Travis Kelsey. Kelsey is going to be on the Ryan Murphy horror series show. It's his first major acting role. Does he get that gig if he's not dating Taylor Swift? He's

been on a show before. I'm not so possibly, but yeah, this is his uh, I guess this is his main acting role. He was on a reality dating show I believe a few years ago, but this is his first real go at it? And then what else we got? You guys want to the NFL is releasing their schedule May fifteen, fifteen, Well, you guys, the hockey kid, the hockey kid. What had the draft last night? The lottery draft lottery. San Jose Sharks landed the number

one pick. Were they the worst team last year? This year? Yeah, they were the worst team. And there's a you want to speak to the players? The top prospect I don't remember his named, celebrity. He's seventeen years old. He's like a sure fire number one pick, so the Sharks will have the rights to draft him if they choose to. That was pretty much it, other than the TSU's coach predicting a split among the Power five schools. I guess now power four schools split? What thinks that there's

gonna be just two different conferences? Oh yeah, because the SEC in the Big Ten are going to get together and trying to run the show, is what it's what they're doing. Yeah, I mean I can see that happening at some point. But then then you know they're gonna get together, put their conference together and say, okay, whin that's the national champion. Well it says who? Right, right, says who? I mean, you

know, the Big ten SEC they kind of own. Yeah, you know, we were having a conversation about that, you know, talking about you know, how are Washington and Oregon going to do? You know in the Big Ten? How'd you say that? You see? In football, the reality is there's only two good teams in that league before Pacto's schools come in there, Michigan and Ohio State. I mean, I mean, think about

think about Iowa, right, Think about Iowa. They averaged one like eight points a game last year and got into the into the conference championship game, right and they you know, they're terrible, all right, and they were the and they were in the conference championship game. There's two good In football, there's really only two good teams. Generally. Wisconsin's pretty good. Wisconsin is is Washington or Wisconsin. Oregon is better than Wisconsin. You can argue

Washington. Well, Washington certainly last year was better than Wisconsin. Just the point that people saying that those teams are gonna suck in the big in Big ten football, you know, I mean U c l A Will because they sucked in Pac twelve football, right, but you know, Oregon, Washington and even USC are going to compete now especially all right now are they good

enough to you know, get over the top. But it's gonna be harder for mission again in Ohio State. All of a sudden, have Oregon and Washington and USC in the league because they're not Iowa, they're not Purdue, they're not Northwestern, they're not Illinois. They're better than all those teams, right, So I think it's you know, there's just this assumption that those schools are going to go there and they're going to suck. No, I

don't think they are. No, they'll finish how many teams in the league now, eighteen eighteen eighteen, So they'll finished in the top six, Yeah, top six probably, yeah, both of them usually, No, ch do I think Washington is going to go in there and and uh and knock you know, Michigan, Ohio State off off the top, I do not, but I do think Washington and Oregon are probably the in whatever order you

want to put them in. Maybe Washington, USC and Oregon are the third, fourth and fifth best teams in that league at the end of the day, didn't they They did it for the money obviously, right, and the competition, Yeah, but the money, the money. It was all of us, the money, And I see that's why everybody landed in the goods. If it was gonna happen, everyone landed in the right spot. Yeah, because there was one who's gonna benefit from moving to the the Big twelve

basketball wise and football? What do you what do you think of Stanford and Cal going to the A C C. That's that's kind of like a yawn story. I mean, okay, well, I mean that was that was a desperation move, right. I mean they don't fit. They don't fit geographically, they don't fit academically. Is where do they fit otherwise? They don't fit you know their sport? Yeah, you know, you know those two schools there, they major in the Olympic sports, right, Uh,

who are they going to play? Yeah? Unless they went both independent wouldn't. That's the only way to do it the a CC. Yeah, and they're not going to recoup as much money as they want. No. I almost think they should have stayed with Oregon State in Washington State and tried to build a league with those four teams. Yeah, and then that would how would that have been? I don't know very I'm just glad it was in Arizona. Yeah, no, yeah, that could have happened, but you

know, maybe not. Yeah. All right, here's a little breaking thing. Arizona golf women's golf did not make the championship tournament. They lost. They missed fifth place by two strokes. Well, they are a lot. Didn't make it in the regional they finished tied for uh and I finished sixth. So it's alight. When Arkansas perdue Baylor UCLA in Florida State, Arizona was sixteen over missed it by two strokes. So their season is over. So let me ask all you guys who follow college basketball, how do you

think Caliparta is gonna do at Rokansas. Yeah, he's already killing it, killing it on the recruiting wise, yeah yeah, but does that matter with him? Yeah? I mean he's always gotten great, great players. Can he coach him? Right? A lot of these guys are coming from Kentucky, so they do have a year of experience as opposed to generally the high school. You know, you know, still maybe maybe a big difference will

be just you know, the pressure is kind of off. I mean, yes, the expectation at Arkansas. You hire a guy like Caliberry, you expect to win. You know, Arkansas, you know has been really good, you know, until last year. But you're not gonna have Kentucky fan. They're eating down your neck all the time. And who knows how much better you can coach by not having that sure, you know, you know, you know who. I think he's gonna first Kentucky basketball. They could

do work with something. He's a good coach. He's a good coach one and he has his players who wanted to play for blah blah blah. He's a good coach. But a color party. I've always thought, not like Citizen the show, he's the most overrated college basketball coach. Yeah. Well he got teen years. Yeah, he got the Kentucky job and was bringing in you know, eight five star players every year. You know, he

had that undefeated season until it wasn't undefeated anymore. Yeah, you know that that was so much about who who who where he was coaching, not could he coached? What was your like, you call it he's overrated? I agree, but like what was what was the expectation? Do you think he should have come away? Oh he should have had more ships at least more than one go deeper. Just look at his resume with the last tournaments round,

second round, blah blah blah. Yeah, just in the last ten fifteen years he kind of and I said this with with the with Our Tuesday, at least that the coach K was kind of kind of overrated in the last ten years he had the same talent, came away with maybe a title or two maybe. But it's like criticizing loot and I'm not all these teams he had. Everyone says, like your mind, right, guess what? They all have to play each other. I mean, here's the problem.

Everyone is getting better now, so is everybody else. Yeah, so how can you say, Well, I saw somebody on Twitter yesterday or whatever it was saying, oh, we got we got the guys, We're going to be really good. Guess what, guys, So are the pig twelve, so is everybody. You have to watch other places to see what they're doing too. It doesn't matter who you are. You could drive a nice car,

but guess what, the neighbor has a nicer one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree now I yeah, no, I I again, he he you know, because he landed at Kentucky and the expectations, the things that came with being coach of Kentucky's you get players, and the honeymoon was over after he was not doing anything with the players, you know, and that was a long time ago, twenty twelve, I think, But they did right, right, We played twelve years now, So I mean, as you said, he got close. Davis has been in the league

for twelve years. Yeah yeah, it's I mean it goes by fast. Wow. Yeah. Look Tommy's been here three or years. Yeah yeah, you know, and now the pressure is kind of getting on him too because of the expectation expectations. Yes, yes, it is hard to win. I mean, no question. People don't understand how difficult it is to win, especially on the road, and then when it comes driving to win in March, because everybody else is pretty darn good. And if you have Arizona,

how did Arizona win their title. And I'm gonna probably speak too much for this. No one thought came out of nowhere exactly, and they were the underdog saying we can prove that we can do it. Now, they get now, they get the Arizonas against them, saying that we can be Yeah, everybody's taking their best shot against already. We've talked about that for years, about how Arizona comes to town and you're getting somebody's best game. Every time Arizona did it to Kansas, they did it to to Kentucky,

they did the Providence, all these teams. Oh you can't be let me show you, and they did it. Yeah, right exactly. All right, let's take our next break. We're going to come back. Hey, welcome back to on the Ball here Fox Sports Forquteen fifteen. I'm Steve, He's Jay. Now on the phone, we have Danny Martinez from the Arizona Softball program. Danny Hallway. I'm good. How are you guys doing fine? Thank you? Let me ask you. You must pinch yourself every now and again. You have a great jump, You get to do

something you love now all the time. I mean it's literally I'm having those pinch myself moments where I'll just be like in the dugout, you know, for a game, and I have to remind myself this is my job, like that I'm getting paid to do this, you know. So yes, I definitely I would say that I have those pinch myself moments quite a bit now. So you're you're you're You're up in Palo Alto for the PAC twelve tournament starts tomorrow. First of all, do you like the tournament? You

know? Last year? I think last year was the first year, right, did you guys like it? You? What do you think yet? Yeah? So I've actually been a big proponent of of giving one for quite a while. I've never I didn't really understand why we didn't have one for so many years. So when it was announced that it was starting, and when it was announced that we were going to be the first host, you know, it was it was really really cool last year and the tournament was

awesome. I mean, you know, I had to be there for every single game. I did PA for every single game last year, and it was a really really cool experience. And I think a lot of that was just how special Hill and Brand is. You know, we filled up the stands for every game, even the games that Arizona wasn't playing in, and it was just an awesome experience. And I'm excited for this one this weekend here in hollow Out though. So you're you're ranked, I think you're fifth

in the conference. You're ranked in the top twenty five. And you know, Luke back in the day, him and Mike Montgomery didn't like to tournament because it could only hurt you, right, if you already played everybody and you're really good, you know, what did it mean? What does it mean for you guys? Because you guys are in right, you'd think yep. So this is a big opportunity for us to try to get into that top sixteen, get one of those national seeds, and get the opportunity to

host a regional, hopefully at Hillenbrand. And winning a few games, you know, however many we were able to win, would go a long way to doing that. But it's also it also works that way for a team like Utah who's coming into this weekend maybe on the bubble, so they have the opportunity to play themselves into the field or cement their status as a you know, a team that's going to the postseason. Okay, so coming into

the tournament, you know, what's the mood around the program. How do they feel about how things are you know, how they've been over the last few weeks, Are they ready? Just kind of a general atmosphere of the pro of the team right now headed into the game tomorrow. We know one thing about this team is that it's been great vibes, great everything all year because the team culture is really really spectacular with this team, so it's really a joy to be around. And yeah, they're ready to go. As

Jay said, you've been around from one hundred years following this team. So I hate to do this to you, but maybe, and you don't have to answer. This team is pretty good and probably better than we thought it would be or people thought it would be. And you've seen some fantastic teams. Where does this fit in? If you can, if you can say

that, you know, it's hard to say where it fits in. It's just so the game has changed so much over the last ten years, and you know, it's hard to say where this team ranks among the others. What I will say is that I think this is the best defensive team that I've ever seen, at least in my time this. The defense is really really good. Taylor Beale just won Pack twelve Defensive Player of the Year and we are second in the nation and fielding percentage and so the defense is really

really good. And I think that hitting, you know, the lineup one through nine is about as deep. You know, there's been some really really good teams in my time, but just about as deep as I can remember. Yeah, So it always comes down to pitching. So what's uh, you know, what's the uh, the prognosis for pitching going into this tournament? And you know, when you're playing a bunch of games in a short period of time like that, you know, what are the expectations and how

are they going to do this? So the kind of blessing I guess with how the schedule worked out and that we actually had a bye week as our last regular season week. You know, there's an odd number of conference teams, so everyone's got one bye week in ours is the last week of the season when pretty much everybody else was playing, so we weren't able to schedule

a non conference opponent. So we actually got a week off heading into the postseason, which at this time of the year, everybody's pitching staffs are you know, just gassed, and everybody is dealing with fatigue issues at this point, and you know, hope, we're hoping that maybe that extra week off to this will save some of the arms a little bit as we get ready for your right I mean, because a brutal stretch of using pitchers and right

over and over again. So yeah, yeah, I really like that you're talking about the defense because I'm a you know, shortstop, second baseman, kind of up the middle type of stuff. Have. You have a strong and your center fielder is strong to right, So if you're strong up the middle, this team must be very good up the middle, defensively and everywhere else. I mean, this team is as strong up the middle as any I think that could be. There's PAC twelve Defensive Players of the Year on

both sides of the middle and field. Second base Ali Skaggs was it last year. She was the gold Glove winner last year, and then shortstop Taylor Bill this year, and then Reagan Shocky, honestly, I think if it weren't for Taylor that Reagan would have been the TACK twelve Defensive Player of the Year this year. That's just how deep this defense is. I've only you had to have to see Taylor Shocky play called times. Is she conjuring memories

of Caitlin Lowe and center field at all? It's funny. My my wife asked me, She said, who who does she remind you of? Who is she like anybody you've ever seen prior? And the only answer I had was Caitlin. I mean she's that good defensively and really really good at the plate as well. Talk about the the the career of Carli your first basement

hardy scooping. Yes, yeah, you know. Four year starter came in as a freshman on what was a senior led team, a senior dominated team that COVID year, and has started her entire career at first base and been just one of my favorite athletes I've ever I've ever worked with. First I worked with her as her SID and now obviously back with the program. So one of my favorite app fleets both on and off the field. She is awesome and it's been fun to watch her hit for four years. Right something

else? Right? So the leadership of the team, where do you where? Does it said? Who? Who are they? And who are the ones that I guess we would assume we're going to be looking for them in the postseason to you know, step up and lead. The cool thing about this team is it's really kind of the leadership comes from from everywhere. Everybody feels that like they can lead in some way, shape or form. You know, we have even freshmen who have made their impacts felt in that way.

But you know, I think at this point, since it is the postseason, it's winnered home for for all of our seniors. I think it is from that senior class. You know, this senior class has meant so much to this program. From you mentioned Carly Scoop and Ali Skaggs and Jazz and Paris Cheek are three four year seniors. So those three I would say, all right, so we know she's your boss, but I want you

to evaluate her. Tell us, you know it's her third year right settling in in Uh, you know, she's been in the job for a little bit. Now are you seeing you know, do you from where you sit, do you see her growing as a coach, doing things, changing things, adjusting? What do you see from Caitlin as a coach of this of this program. No, I think the big thing that nobody else gets to see is how she runs practice and how practice looks, and how how much

better we get every single day in practice. And I think that really really shows on the field. So yes, I think Kaitlyn has done an amazing job. I mean, people, I think forget she was the first coach to lead her team to the World Series as a first year head coach in NC double A history, just two years ago. So yes, Caitlyn is is doing really really good things and will continue to do really really good things.

Well, Danny, when you asked that question, I wanted to kind of tag on that too, So you know how I know how I know she's doing very well. Nobody's batching about her, No one's Honestly, I haven't seen too much about that. Yeah, you know how the world is. If you run away, you lose the game, got to get a replaced blah blah. But I haven't heard any of that. Yeah. Yeah, Twitter can be a brutal place, especially for coaches. So yeah, oh yeah, I agree. All right. So you know, Steve and

I were going through the rankings, you know mentioned that UCLA. You know, they're they're ranked six in the country, and it's like, how good are they? And I'm like, there's still UCLA and they're still really good. It's just everybody else around the country has gotten so much better. In fact, he ran off the teams ahead of them, ahead of UCLA in the in the rankings. I'm like, I didn't even know a couple of them even played softball. So you know, over your time, right,

this has changed like that. It's that there's so many good teams out there that weren't there fifteen years ago or even ten years ago. Right, Talk a little bit about that, that whole national aspect of what's happened in softball. Yeah, it's crazy. I mean it's really it's been the buy in of specifically the SEC, but even in the Big twelve as well, just nationally, teams are starting to put money, put resources behind softball and you're

seeing it pay off. I think that goes for all of women's sports right now. You know, we just saw all the crazy numbers and the creepy viewership data from the Women's Final flour and I think you're going to see very similar, you know, kind of increases over the next month with softball. You know, I think women's sports has just in a really really good place right now, correct me if I'm wrong, Danny. But last year I think did they lose to UCLA like in a heartbreaker in the tournament? Yes?

Yeah, does that kind of help them because they had them on the brink they lost, and it was in the tournament where it kind of gives them they know they can compete, especially at this time of year. Yeah, I think that that probably has you know, a little bit of carryover last year in the Pactal Tournament. We opened with Arizona State and run rolled them on a walk off grand slam. So yeah, this team has postseason or PAC twelve tournament experience now, and I think, you know, I

do think that that will We'll play a role here tomorrow. Okay, we want you to evaluate this. Is Stafford a good place for this? Why why Stanford? Is it? Is this rotating? Or is do you have to Bidford? How do you get how do you get to host this thing? You know, that's a great question. It wasn't supposed to be a rotating thing. Obviously, we couldn't foresee what happened last summer, and so the Pactell Tournament only ends up going too places. But you know, it's

hard to compare anything to hill Brand. Hillen Brand is just such a special place, not only in the PAC twelve but nationally, so we can try to you know, I'm sure Stanford's gonna do a great job. You know, I'm excited to be not the host this year, and I'm excited to watch somebody else do it. But there's no nowhere like Hill and Brandon. If we can, we get it only two minutes. I don't even know what's your what's your role with the team, but yeah, what are some

of the things that you do? So I'm the director of operations, so just anything logistically with the team. I'm you know, in charge of specifically travel, food, everything, just kind of helping us get from point A to point B and keeping the tires turning the right direction with the team, do you do you rake and line fields and stuff like that. You know, I haven't yet, but I have told them that if they need my services, I am more than happy to I wear a lot of hats,

If you guys want to call, we appreciate it at five to two zero for one six seven four

four zero. Good to talk to Danny. In fact, I don't know did you go see a softball we I didn't get I did not get it. I should ask them how much about the attendance because it's always good, right, Yeah, it has the same tape with people. Yeah. I think it's still you know, stay relatively good. I mean again, you know, fans are fans, right, you win, you win, they time you don't, they don't and there and those that's ay. Uh you

know the demographics is strings are older. Yeah, because we've been getting the baseball and the calls about four thousands. So yeah, if you're not the baby softballs you know, is always going to be And again, it's a great facility. You know, it's a great it's a great place to go watch a game. So now I go, I go to one early in the year, I can't remember, I have not I know some friends that

have, so I know I've watched it. But you know, if they're on on TV and I'm at home, I watch, you know, because I want to know what's going on. Yeah, and it's a good price for a ticket to go see a good Yeah. Now they're they're again. You know, it's it's it's a well established thing to do in in town, you know, to go to games and stuff. So I think they'll they'll always have that, They'll always have the fan following. I think,

uh, you know, and now you know, the postseason starts. I think if I think if well, I know, this is probably something that we talked about earlier. If baseball does better, they go into the deep into it and softball gift to the series. Your grade of seven point seven goes up to because because there are obviously two story programs, and it's been a good year all relative, it's pretty well, you know, it's kind

of been an under under the radar. You're for both of them, right, well, for the whole for the whole program, not that it's under the radar, but it's been kind of exceeding, exceeding exceeding, because come on football, who would have ever thought that started so dark for so long and you get this great team. And I can say great because you hadn't

seen a team like this a long time. On basketball, you see it for a long for a while, right, and then it kind of level off and women's basketball had its issues or whatever, and then they kind of finished strong. So it's it's been a pretty good year. Yeah, No, it has been. It has been. It's been fun. You don't look at tennis. I mean they created a lot of excite. Sure, you know they you know with what they've done, so you know it's yeah,

you know what I didn't, I didn't think. I wasn't thinking much of tennis. I'm gonna I'm gonna go eight point one, Steve eight point one, I think, so I'll go eight Yeah, because I'm gonna go eight point one in the ground scheme of things. If you both golf programs didn't, we're really good this year. Both were ranked, so you know, you got that we haven't heard much from track, tracker, volleyball.

Yeah, well checker, volleyball, volleyball. Don't think it didn't. Yeah, yeah, but you know, overall the signature of programs have done really well right and again, you know when you get off to a good start with football, that sets the tone, and that really does and it has this year to both of you kids, and you can talk with this to Mike Henry, You guys came because of the school, because of the sports, because of what uh I would say the school, but a lot of

it had to do with the sports. And then in your time here, did it satisfy you that you would have liked to see them do a little bit better in what in that's you know they're known for basketball? Football. Was pleasantly surprised, just a big jump from last year to this year. So I think they're on the come up for sure. Yeah, and you were from la Henry, you're from the East coast, New York. And

how did that happen? Witness protection program? I don't know. I kind of want to come out here for the weather aspect, but also just good at decent school that I wanted to go out to the West Coast of some family, but sports play a part of it. Yeah, I definitely wanted to school that had a decent sports. I always knew we had a football team. I nam'd actually be good. And that's James philosophy, no hoping to be good. I have to take that cool. So and you went

your games? Yeah, football game. I mean I went to all most of the games twenty twenty two, and I was like, the team's actually pretty good. So going into last year, I thought we could. I didn't think ninety three was on the table, but I thought we could get to a bowl. Games pleasantly surprised me. In basketball basketball, Yeah, I've been to most games here since I've got here. I hope you didn't boo. Uh yeah you didn't boo, BRONI did you. I actually didn't

get tickets second too late. I like to hear that here's out on the heat the night before. All right, man, I like you, Henry, We're gonna find in your Okay, all right, Well that's what because it's the front porch of the school. Yeah, but you know, just

as much as the administration does. And I don't know, Steve, you know, maybe maybe it's because I you know, to me, it's just two sons of nicer place when you have this kind of excitement around here, right, And I know there's a lot of people who don't give one crap about sports, right there really are. But you know, you go to you go to the mall, you go to the grocery store, you go to the doctor's office, you go to a breakfast, and if people are

talking about sports and things are going well, it's just more pleasant. Did you around me? Did you have your breakfast this morning? Or yes? Yes, that was your No, you're you're twelve year twelve young angry men. Oh that was the lunch today? Yeah, okay. So did they talk about the Arizonable Yes, okay, what was your reaction for that? Just you know, everybody's happy with I mean, that's gonna be cool. And that's another thing where good. It just created some buzz, right,

It created some buzz. And so when you know, we're we're a town where sports doesn't get lost in the shuffle like it can like as U sports get lofts in the shuffle in Phoenix. Sure, and you can tell by by tendance numbers and stuff like that. Arizona, Arizona athletics does not get

lost in the shuffle. And then it feeds down into because because people like the U of A sports, they're more excited about, you know, the high school sports and PEMA and stuff like that, and it allows us to have have a radio show where we can talk about all those sports and people listen to us. So two guys come from metro metro places obvious, l A and New York. You're gonna go back to home where it's it's it's genomeous, right yeah, and the Rams or whatever you have the Lakers.

Now you now you're not gonna have this. What are you gonna have? And it's not enough. I'm just asking what are you gonna have for college? I mean, this is like a hometown. You don't have that. Now you're going to back home too. It's a big ass place, big gas place. You're but you're you're a pro sports guy though, right because you're from l A. Right, Henry, I'm assuming you too. You

know that. You guys are you know the Yankees, the Lakers, you know the Dodge or whatever in your mind and I kind of call this Maybury. You have probably have no idea what I'm saying Maybury where it's a small town. You gave me the finger where it's a small town. What do you think about Tucson? I won't well as a sports town. Yeah, I mean they don't have a professional team. We're pretty much a minor league team. So I understand the school revolve like people revolve around the school,

and that we don't have that you support. Do you find it to be cute? Do you find it to be I think it's nice. I mean everybody just buys all in because that's all they It's all we have, right you can you can say it like that, that's all we have. And so that and you know, and the and the community as a whole does get behind it. Whereas you go to l A, they're split all over the place. You know, U c l A fans or USC fans.

There's Laker fans, there's Rams fans, right, you know, and and you know, you might be a football fan and hate all the other sports. Here you're you have a fan and you root for You've got a team to root for all year around. And that's what makes Tucson or you have a cozy right, you know, kind of warm and feely, warm and fuzzy whatever. Yeah, because they're i mean, not living in a pro

sports town. But from where I sit, I feel like somebody who's like a die hard, wear a jersey every day Cardinals fan might not give one crap about the Suns, might not give one crap about the Diamondbacks or a s U. They only care about the Cardinals, and so the rest of

the year, what are they doing? Right? Whereas again here, you know, if you follow football, then you move on to basketball, then you move on to baseball or softball or whatever, and so you've got really nine months out of the year where you've got a team to root for and and and that to me, that's why I feel like it's more a part of the overall community where people are talking about this stuff all the time wherever

you go. I feel like not everybody I would agree with that, not everybody, but a lot of people, you know, uh, and and and you know, you can go up and you know, you can talk to somebody in the grocery store. Hey, you see the Wildcats city, Yeah, that was cool, you know, and you see there's a lot more of that. Then you know, you might you're gonna go You're gonna go to safe you're gonna see somebody in the Lakers jersey, but you're you know, you're a Rams fan, you don't really want to talk to them.

So I think there's more people kind of it brings the community more together. That sounds kind of hokey and corny, but I really do think it does, because there's this one thing that you of a that get behind, and New York's different than all that other places, probably because it's so many people there and you don't know who's where. When I went to the Final Four ninety five and you don't even know it is the Final Four in New

York because there's just other things to do. Yeah, I didn't feel like, you know what I'm saying. It's also most teams, there's two teams in the city, so it's like, oh it's split there too, right, So yeah, two NFL teams, two NBA teams, you major, So that's it splits it up even more. That's a good point. Yeah, So the allegiances are over the place, probably, you know, people fight more than they now. The New Yorkers that's what they live for.

Yeah, that's what they live for exactly. Yeah, there gonna be a lot of New York jokes when you get behind the microphone, just so you know, be ready for all that, because Steve and I neither one of us are from anywhere like that at all, So it'll be fun. There will be jokes, and you know, he's guy, he's the one that's gonna be telling them. I don't know I married somebody from New Jersey. So there's that, and he's bitter about it. Yes, Okay, we've

got five minutes. Anybody who last call, last call for calls five people, This is your last shot at s feet for the week. He's going to be out of here. Yeah, he's having his eighty fourth birthday tomorrow, so he's going to be gone for the next couple of days. Five four, one forty. That'll be good to hear from you guys before we leave today. Thank you Adam for your time with us. It was about two months. Yeah, a lot of fun, A lot of fun.

To put this on the resume get something out of it. Oh absolutely, I enjoyed it very much. Had a talk crap from the radio without without without saying the words yeah, yeah. You didn't have to push the button once, did you? No dumb buttons no dumb button. All right, yeah, yeah, we're going you get your full training next time. Well when you run the board and then you can hardly wait. And just a couple of people, you know, the Neacs of the world exactly, and

the Howard's. Yeah, hey, it's been fun having you know. I, you know, I really like the fact that we've done this, Steve. I think the in terms of, you know, I've gotten something. They'll go into bigger, greater things. Maybe they'll come and take take good care of us later on down the road. You know, when she's you know, when she's behind the desk at the Kentucky Derby and stuff like that, you know, we'll she'll throw us a bone here. She'll be back

on next week because of the breakness. Yep, yep. Yeah, she was great last week. She was fantastic. So we hope to hear from you guys wherever you guys reread. Yeah, it's been fun, all right, so we'll be well, Okay, softball, I believe it's six thirty, but let me let me check it Realwardick, it's tomorrow night. Uh, they've got Washington four seed versus five seeds. They're on Friday, Saturday, no, Yeah, Friday, Saturday Sunday up at Utah. Let me

let me see softball. Yeah, six thirty tomorrow, Washington. You'll be able to watch that on the pack Off network. It'll be it'll be on Arizona go goes to Utah. They start on Friday at up there, and it's a big series. I think Arizona's got a two game lead on Utah in the standings. They can you know, push them out of the out of the running for the league. But then you know, right coming right up behind them a Stanford. So I mean not Stanford, Oregon State.

Arizona seventeen and seven, Utah is fifteen and nine, Oregon State is fourteen and I so they've got a game missing in there, probably from a rain out or something like that. NFL they would make I guess it wouldn't make it up, but you know that they're all bunched up up there, and then the local high schools are softball teams will be playing this week tonight. I think I just saw howr Andy Cdo is playing in Australia Foothills now in

the semi finals of the baseball tournament. CDEO could win it back to back, Yeah to back, three back to back to back. Okay, so that's exciting to see. And then we'll see about the other schools as well. So point I think still in it, yeah, and in other schools. So yeah, it's playoff time for everybody. So this is cool. Where high school in La I went out, you know, anybody still playing big time players? No, probably not, but they're a good baseball Okay.

I thought maybe in football, anybody in the big time schools because only it's obviously for Yeah, we're close to like Calabasas area, but I haven't been following lately. I don't know. Okay, okay, all right, good, good week. Well three days man. But we started with Chris Rafts Statter. We had the Snoop Dog announcement on Monday. That was cool. So Cam and Eric came on and talked about it's place. Is still buzzing about that speed, right, there's a lot of people talking about it.

You've still seeing some buzz on social media. I think it's going to be good for the good for the Bowl at least in terms of getting you know, getting the visibility that that they're looking for. So that's a very cool thing. We had just in spirits for about eight minutes yesterday. It was his phone cut out, you know, uh, Neimar hasse you talking about the National Football Foundation golf tournament. Then I'll be playing in this weekend,

which will be fun. I love that, and that's it, all right, And then today thanks Rich Tomy, thanks Rich to me and Danny Martinez, my godson, who I just remember his name this time. Okay, guys, well, thank you all right, thanks for being here, Hen, thanks for being here. Adam. We appreciated having you here. I hope you got something out of this and uh hope you go on to do great things. Don't forget too old, dudes, we know, all right, thank you, see you next week. All right, guys,

let's get out of here. Thanks for being hereverybody. We'll be back tomorrow. My guess host will be Adam Gonzales, who's my actual son. Uh, former sports information guy for football and women's basketball. So come back tomorrow
