John court Man he got he's got his team to against Doublas again this year. Yeah, he said in a press release. We are thrilled to welcome I'm Hailey and Teresa to Arizona UM. They will complete our incoming class for next year. Both have proved that they can compete at a high level during the club careers, and we look for to them thriving personally, academically and
athletically during their four years and every in Tucsons. All right, good, good for John court yep UM round round one of the NCAA Double A Track and Field Championships. Um, we're today Georgian Geist finished second in men's hammer throw to qualify for the nc Double A Championships. Yeah, for the finals next week. Yeah, and he's a guess I guess he's also in the shot put later today, right, yes? Yes? Where where's that? Did you see where that? Sad is? Its sacrament? All right?
Yeah? Um, we already talked about the baseball UM team walk off finished against organ State, second seed Organ State. Caleb Love transfer he has UM Arizona amongst one of his UM teams that schools that he might be going to. How many teams does he have on his list? Um? I think Texas, Arizona, Gonzaga three. I think it's
three's gonna get in all right? Well, he's the kid that got in Fest for Portland, North Carolina. Everybody was surprised because he was a starter. Ye had he had a committed to Michigan right then, couldn't get in? Hi, miss you couldn't get in right. So um, so he's back in the portal and Sun. He's got Arizona, Gonzaga and who Texas
Tea. So we'll see how that see how that works out. I mean, I don't know that that's a guy that Arizona needs, right with the with the guy that they just got with, the with the Brandon or Jaden. Uh what's the last ning from from from Alabama? The Alabama kid? Yeah, I don't remember. Yeah, but yeah, No, they're gonna

I talked to a lot of people yesterday just this because and they think, and I agree with him, that this team is gonna be pretty good next year, just six weeks removed from people saying, oh, what are you gonna do? I don't want to do sometimes, I just I just want to, like have ability to throw a mass middle finger just just sticks up above the horizon, and everybody who knows that it's me
knows that it's for them, making a new logo for us. We have people cusses on the radio show. You know, well that picture you know we got with our arms crossed, dude. Remember in high school teams, would you know people would stick their middle finger out of that they get kicked out of school and stuff. Couldn't sell the book because all right, the commanders have their trademark applications denied due to another person already having pending applications for
the name Um Colonel one already existing. Therefore, they might have to change their team name. Again, they can't work out a deal. How did they not know that when they took the commander's name. It's a Washington team, that's what. Speaking of George, Washington University change its changing its mascot from the Colonials, which apparently some people thought that it was a sort of sort of like Christopher Columbus, Right, Colonials killed a lot of Native Americans,
so it's kind of offensive to them. To the Revolutionaries, which is just too long. How you put that on a helmet? Eventually, guess what they're They're gonna find out the Revolutionaries is not a good name. Media, Well, people want, you know, people want um Mississippi change its name from the rebels. Yeah, because of the you know, well,
because they were rebelling against the United States America. I'm surprised that the Conquistadors have kind of lasted a while, because I know that the back Coleman in New Mexico and Santa Fe they're taking down statues because of this stuff. Oh yeah, it's a big deal because people were offended with what they used,
what they did when sixteen coming up through Mexico. All right, Jets worked out X bills punch mataisa um Ian Rappaport also reported that, um, he doesn't expect any kind of media media signing for Matt but this could be um first of many steps that my helping to get back in into the NFL. Um, the police have come out and said that he was not at at this at the place when and where it happened,
and uh, you know, he was the top. He was like a third or four front draft pick up the Buffalo Bills. And as soon as that report came out, he got released. And now he's trying to find a job in the NFL. Uh And apparently what now the victim's attorney is still going to following through with the lawsuits, saying he was there, but the cops have said they have video evidence that says he was not. Whatever that means. Okay, Um, there has been some strong support in
Madison Square Garden to retire Carmela's Anthony number. Um. I know Carmella played for several different teams. You guys feel like he should have his number retired in New York. Um. I also saw that he might have his number retired in Denver as well. So yeah, I don't know. I'm not a fan of his. I'm not a detractor as well. Right, I don't know long career. Um, I don't know. It doesn't go anywhere in my radar. Right. Yeah, he doesn't move the needle for me
either, never had. But but the heack of a player, yeah, definitely for sure. Um. I know you want to talk about the NFL. Yeah, So, the NFL has passed basically a similar rule to what they have in college now, where a receiver on a kickoff can make a fair catch inside the twenty five and they get the ball on the twenty five. It's a continuing effort for the NFL to uh, you know, trying They say kickoffs is one of the most dangerous plays. Uh. In the
game, and so they're trying to eliminate some of that. A lot of pushback this time because people saying that it's even though it's tough, it's one of the more exciting parts of the game. You know. You think guys like the chic Devin Hester, you know, who made maybe getting it or did he get into the Hall of Fame, I'm not sure, but he's been he's been getting into the Hall of Fame as a kick returner, and that will kind of go away because you know, people and you see it
in the you see it in the college game. You know, we catch about the two yard and here comes the coverage. Okayn't take the fair catch. We get about the twenty five at the NFL is adopting the same rule that got passed, I believe today. Do you have to the kid from Buffalo who got hurt? Who got hurt? Uh? Young guy graduate in two thousand and eight.
So and then Lauren Flom is now the director of basketball operations. Uh. She was the director of basketball operations at Tulane, so she'll be She'll be in charge of scheduling, budgeting, travel rangers. YadA, YadA, YadA. Ryan Thorne is coming in as director of recruiting Operations. Had been in the program as a graphic designer. Photographer and doing some other stuff.
Had has a bachelor's degree, uh from the UFA. And then um, Kyle Hudson comes in as the staff video and analytics UH as a graduate assistant doing doing all that stuff. So um, so Forney staff members, all with some of you have mostly some of you have a connections. Kyle has a master's degree in sports management from Colombia. So there you go. Um
again, if you're if you're somebody who's entring into the traditions. Um. There's been a lot of talk that both Georgia and Florida did not want to play the World's Biggest Cocktail Party game in Jacksonville because they kind of wanted to dig. They would rather have that as a home game every other year. But it looks like that is going to stay there at least for two more years. Uh in Jacksonville, Uh, where both teams Uh, you know,
it's a neutral site game and it's it's built. They don't I don't call it the world Greatest cocktail party anymore because they thought people got it. Said. Cocktail implying that there's a lot of drinking is a not a favorable thing, so they call it something else. husband a long time. She was making her way back. She opened for Lionel Ritchie at at the Two Sun Arena nineteen eighty three and I saw her there and didn't really know where she was going, but man, she put on a show. How old is she was? She three eighty something? Yeah, no, but she was. And then she went huge. She she was one of those She was one of those artists that went huge because of the video, the video age. She was, you know, making
videos. And then there was a movie about her about her her husband thing with Hell is his name? I turn Um? Wow, I was a bit surprised. We've talked a lot about these iconic uh actresses and actress last right right, um? And so yeah, so Tina Turner passed away. And also before you get out of here, Sheldon Reynolds a guitarist guitar player for Earth Wind and Fire back from the early nineties on. Um actually got my my son and my family got our picture with him when they we had
we had a backstage passed to one of their concerts. Uh here and he's wearing the picture with him and he passed away today. He's in his sixties. I think he died. I think there's a picture of him that looked like he had cancer something. He had some some disease that killed him. So okay, Okay, well, sorry to do all this, all of them. doing job? Thanks for having me on. Yes John, John, we had your stuff on yesterday and we're thinking where are you getting this stuff? We wonder where you get this stuff. We needed to talk to you specifically about the Arizona fans because you put on yesterday the list of the most sensitive fans and least sensitive fans, and Arizona was we felt was on the wrong side of that graphic. They need to be on the most sensitive fans because
they're basketball fans lose their mind. So give us that, give us the thought process on who who were the least sensitive fans and who are the most sensitive fans. Yeah. I guess when you when you wrote basketball into it, I could definitely see Arizona being on the sensitive side. I mean, gosh, you guys lost to a fifteen seed, but this year. Yes, yeah, And I mean so I could see where you guys are coming from. I'm just looking at it on like a national perspective, you know,
where I don't see Arizona fans in an uproar about college football. Okay, that makes sense, that you're right, and yeah, and what we were saying about that was that but that the basketball fans more than offset sort of the nonsense, pensitive approach of the of the football fans, the football faners kind of we're just used to being losers, right, So you're just okay with it exactly. That's a very good That's a much better way to put it than the way I just put it. Yeah. So so where
do you come up? We've talked about this before. Where do you come up with this stuff? And and did you compile that list specifically? Yeah? No, I put together every list myself. I mean it's just me. Um, I am big game. You know, I don't know that I would want to see, like what the inside of your brain looks like. That can't be healthy or something, and it must be scary. People
have said that about me for a time or two. But you think you're really I think it's really scary to think about things that are moving around in your brain. So, well, what are some of the ones that you've done recently that you've maybe gotten some great response from. Well, I mean the sensitive fans one always gets a great reaction from. And it's just it's my opinion. I mean I almost daily talked of pretty much all of these fan bases, UM, so I'm very in tune with with you know,
how they interact. Um. And I've been you know, all over the country too, so I can see a lot of these well in person. But I mean I just come up with these lists. I mean they I just come up really up with them. I kind of have a schedule. I've been doing this for two years now. Right now, I'm in the middle of my player rankings for every position, and I just got called out by Brett Bulima or the Illinois head coach on my cornerback list. So every
list, it's a different response. It's you'll love me one day, she'll hate me the next day. How often does like a coach or an athletic director or somebody in a position like that respond to you or reply to something? And is it pretty much every list? Or how often does that happen? Say, I mean we've got one hundred and thirty three. They almost every let's get a reaction from some coach or official accounts or for some radio show, guys, article and sports illustrated battle list. Probably, I mean
it's every day. So is that the response you're hoping for? Yeah, I mean I just I kind of just start doing this on a women and yeah, I wit, I lot to seeing people argue about it. Did you respond? Did you respond to those guys, the coach and maybe the ads? Ye? Oh yeah? And what's our reaction? Okay you make sense or you're still full of it? Yeah? No, no, I like I've had jet Bish on my podcast before. I mean, the great guy. That's why I'm kind of rooting for Arizona because of my experience with
him. I want to see him succeed there. Really nice guy. Well where are you? Where are you from? Where'd you go to school? So I want to tell you, Okay, I live in Oklahoma? Oh you live? You still live in Oklahoma? Okay? Yeah? How are their fans? We're pretty sensitive, I would say, I mean with the Lincoln Riley leaving to USC, I mean, our fan base is still not
over. It'll take years to get over that, right, right. So I think though, that because you're in the hotbed of that program, you know that program, right, But it's hard to kind of know other programs because you're not in the heart of that program like Arizona. Uh, you nailed it for football. For basketball, it's a totally different beast. So your confidence in picking the list, even though you're not in that city is okay. You're okay with that final nags. It creates for great discussions.
Well that's true. That's true, and it has you. You have no idea how many times one of those has come across in our last segment of the day, and it gives us something that gives us something to talk about. So you want to let us know something. You mentioned player player rankings, but what are some other stuff that's that is coming up that we need to keep an eye out for. I'll start some of player rankings, I'll start doing coach rankings by position. Um. That always seems to get people
fired up. And then it's really just I mean, gosh, we're almost in June it's just you know there there'll be stuff coming out every day that I do. Um, how do you get through the dog days? Because we know that you know, once once the NBA playoffs are over, you know we can we can think about football. But it's still three months away. Um, how are we gonna feel the how we're gonna feel that void? Well, you've got, I mean all kinds of stuff. I've still
got my my implement stadium bathroom rankings. I'm out towards the start of the season, and that that one is always a great debate. Um, so I'm having fun fun list like that, and then stuff the serious with the players and coaches back and a lot of time, uh research and the stuff. And so you have one that came out I guess a couple of days ago, the top twenty five quietest college football stadiums. I don't see Arizona on this, so you really haven't been here, Steve Well. I know
when the Zona Zoo, the student section is in full force. That stadium can get loud. When it's in full force. Well, and you're not there in the second half of the football game. Sucked for a while, but get the stadium can get hoppy Jason, So thank you, Jason. I mean because I know the basketball Atmateur at McHale is one of the best in the country, so that I next kind of translate the foot ball before.
But you know, back when Richard Regrez is there'd atmosphere. I try to not base it based on you know, when a programs that's the very bottom you know of their where they are, you know, with being good or bad. Um obviously you expect that stake and to be quiet when he was on the eleven um. So I try to try to, you know, give the only person I'm giving Steve some dirty looks right now. The only person you hear the football stadium is the Gonzales family when they go to
when they go to football games. Okay, is there what which sport do you think has because you know you got football and you got some places with basketball. Which sport has the absolute I don't, I don't with the right word is just the craziest fans where you just go. You guys have lost
your minds college football football, I meanege football. Uh yeah, only the most popular people are the most passionate about it, I know, and you're part of the country they're probably more passionate about basketball, but from the nationwide dampoint, it's definitely called football. And who who tops that two or three list as the most sensitive? No, no, no, the craziest like Jay's definite were you? It's like nothing else matters right on game day.
Every fan base except for Vanderbilt and Miszoo are just crazy terms of posting anything interesting. All of them. Well, I mean, you know they did you see somebody went into a dollar store or something like that a couple of weeks ago and set all the Alabama gear on fire? Did you hear about that? Now? I didn't ride that. Does that? Do you get a lot of grief from the Oklahoma State people given your sooner? Yeah? My wife they went to Oklahoma State. So I'm not to be honest,
guys, I get more flats from Oklahoma fans. I bet you. I bet you, yeah, because I try to be fair, Yeah things, you know, unbiased as possible, and so ou fans don't like that. They think number one thing, So I kept at a flat from them. Yeah, I've got I've got a guy in a breakfast club that I go to. He was like he played it. He played football at Oklahoma like
in the fifties and heat. That guy the minute I walk in the door every every Tuesday morning, he's going off about the softball team and how they've won the last one game. And they said, you know what, they're just paying their players better than anybody else. That's all. That's all. Yeah, Well Oklahoma has been more, has been, was dominant before the nil era. Yeah, they were. So. Are you gonna see one of those lists the best nil deals in codes, football or programs? Yeah,
I mean I do. I mean I did one not too long ago, like the best uh school for nil opportunities in every state, which I think right now for you guys, definitely Arizona um bad words from the state. Didn't care at all about any and that's why we're from. Yeah, the game. Yeah, we like your maps that always have. You know, it's it's the best, this, the best that, if whatever in the state, and it's always Arizona. I know there was one with you
the other day. I can't remember what it was, but you know we were like your map. We like your maps with the with the top schools in each state. That's good. Yeah. No, I'm I'm bear bear down. I mean I liked Fish is doing so, so I want to see next step this year. Got to make a bowl game. That's tough, but I think it's duable. I think they can get to six and six, seven and five, maybe eight and fourth. They like the upset,
like the dig in two CLA last year. Okay, so I just see another one from last week the top twenty five greatest college softball teams of all time us LA. Of course, of course, after their little debacle last weekend Oklahoma two Arizona three. Was that one of those favoritism for Oklahoma.
Well, living in the moment right now, like I just can't imagine Arizona being as dominant as ou. I mean, oh, you kind of changed the game in softball, and softball used to be a slapped the ball around the park, you know, score one run, two runs here. Now it's it's a it's a home run derby. And that really started from Oteum. So that's why I kind of gave them the non over Arizona that two spots, all right. I mean, look, he's got an argument,
right, It's a good argument. So that's all right. The fans do take their softball here extremely seriously. Yeah, and they're they're not very happy about how things are right now. But that's that's where it goes. That's where it goes. Okay, all right, well John, that this
it's always fun. We're gonna want to talk to you some more and maybe as we get closer to football season with some of the lists you you're gonna have coming out looking forward to the bathroom list, because I can tell you, I can tell you with a certain amount of authority, the Arizona has a new end to their stadium. In the bathrooms in the new end part are great, but the bathrooms in the old part underneath where my seats are,
it's scary, just just scary. But they're not gonna do anything because they're they're gonna knock down that side of the stadium coming up, so you know, it's still they still have a trough. Hey, just okay, just looking back to this, h got just a little over a week ago, Best fifty fifty Best College tailgating in the Unite in the US. Arizona is on the list at thirty two. Thirty two, Okay, and Alice, he was number one, which I've always heard, old miss at the Grove, I've always heard, I don't know how what's special about Iowa state and South Carolina up there, But um, Washington has got some great tailgate and I've been I've done tailgating at Washington. Yeah,
um uh yeah. Michigan in the top twenty, but Arizona is at thirty two. The thing about Arizona, it's got a great it's like one specific area. It's just a huge party. Then that's good. have three channels to watch TV one and all that stuff. So so music was the big deal in music in the car, music in your room, A country skate cut. You have no idea how many songs taking me back to skate country couples only man by himself we did skate with now at the Flying V. We we you know, we just had breakfast on Saturday and what used to be the Cactus Club. Did you ever know? You but

up on Saturday against the Bay Home Panthers home game, six o'clock. Um, it's a it's a game for first place. The Panthers are half a game ahead of Arizona two Sons two sons, tied for second with a four and three record. Those teams are all bunched up in the in the West Division. Um, the Rattlers, who are three and four going into last week, got their quarterback back and immediately blasted in order to the Arizona put a sixty burger on those guys, and so they're at four and four.
So all those teams in the West Division are bunched up. Four teams. There's eight teams in the division. Four teams make the playoffs and so, um, it's gonna be tight, and every one of these games is huge for the for the Sugar Scalls. You want to get into the top two in your division so you can host a first round game, which Arizona or two Sundays Night had a chance to host a playoff game yet, but very
nice game that they played on on Saturday. Okay, And then we're gonna have Randy of Seta, who's got to meet me at me And there's a big run a big run for uh uh for Memorial weekend downtown, So we'll have him on at some point in the day tomorrow to talk about that. It's a great song. It's a great version of it because that's one of my That song that the original is one of my top ten songs ever back in the day. That's a seventies song, maybe in the late sixties song, probably
seventies Whereverend L. Green? Yeah, okay three minutes. Did you have like a go to like to me, it's earth Win to Fire. Did you have a go to which we have the same music type of? But I mean, was there one one or two that you basically went and bought all their albums? No, didn't even didn't even hear the album came out of you went and got it? No, Well, I think back in seventy six it was the Saturday Night Fevere album. Yeah. Um, but
we have the same type. I'm a commodos guy like all old school seven mid seventies, a later seventies. Um, you know, I cried for Edmund Fitzgerald. I'm joking, of course, But but I bought earth Wind and Fire album came out, I went and got did to wait to see which ones were going to be the hits off of it? I went and I went and got There's a lot of stuff, a lot of stuff the Gap band back in the day, Come on, bs man, Yeah, there's so many but only one of those guys left. Really, yeah,

I can't even tell you what's today we could probably the equivalent of you know, I would throw out some names that people would say, those guys are so yesterday, you're showing your age. My daughter says I have a gap because I basically stopped listening to anything newer than nineteen eighty six or eighty seven up until about when I became the play by play announcer at the Saint Gregory basketball games and I had to play music at timeouts and stuff, so I had to get some stuff that was like up to date, so from like late eighties, maybe ninety ninety two until like twenty two, thousand and eight, anything
in there. She calls my gap because I don't know if any any songs or anything thing that was a large gap. That is a huge gap, and it still remains. It's a big gap. Yeah. A song will come on and I'm like, oh, this is a great song, and my daughter goes go that that's like twenty years Yeah, it's about right, Yeah, it's about yeah, roll up the windows. You're embarrassing. I like, like I was, I ran across a song by the weekend in Ariana Grand du I love this song. Yeah that came out like two years
ago. Yeah, yeah, okay, you know what can I say? I just heard it for the first time for the first time, and I like, don't touch my buttons. Yeah, exactly, don't touch anyway.
