Steve Rivera and Jay gn Salles. They have their eye on the ball on two Sons Sports stage, Fox Sports fourteen fifty streaming live. I mean I heard radio Whip they welcome back to the ball, you know, Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve, he's Jay. Now we have Jason wickbreaking news on the ball, breaking news, very generation Arizona walldcat stand out and field her Mason White earned her spot on the Baseball Freshman All American roster. Bason

White? Yeah, to which one position did stand out? Isn't it from He's the local kid, isn't he? Yeah? Where do you cdeo? I'm sure exactly. He's two's on Native though. Yeah, yeah, I think I remember he hit that ball. He hit that bomb in the in the tournament, homer in the tournament. Yeah, so now freshman, you know, I don't think you know, as you look back in the season, the baseball team was pretty good. They were pretty good except that they

couldn't pitch. Couldn't and something happened to the pitch. Because that's some They had a couple of good pitchers coming into this year that just didn't pitch well, you know, t J. Nichols and uh um, I can't remember the other guy, but you know they just whatever, whatever they lost, they lost. Yeah, all right. Arizona baseball stand out first baseman Akiko Romero has earned a spot on the Collegiate Baseball Second Team All American rostern He

was another two soon kid. He was good. He was good. Another two soon kid. Yeah. I love that these guys that aren't are playing baseball in Arizona. Does it just seem like, I know they're back in the old break back in the day that you know, they're just weren't a lot of two sound kids that were getting a chance to play for Arizona, and these guys are, which is great. Chipell recognizes their talent here. Today was the first day for the nca Double A Outdoory Championships of the Arizona

Track and field team. Um Jordan guys. Actually, on his first attempt of the hammer throw he actually broke a screw record with a heave of seventy five point ninety seven meters um That moves him up to twelfth all time in NCABLE history. And he also finished third place at the hammer thrower today. Yeah. Yeah, he's the one that kind of enlightened us with the n il right, yeah, the most decorate well him and the Schnell. This

is not about them, there was. I was listening to an interesting conversation today and we'll get I'll talk about it because I do. It's some na l stuff that um, I hadn't heard before, with some really good stuff and including some interesting comments by Trent Dilfer, who's not coaching at UAB. But I want to make a point of talking about that at some point today. Okay, So the guy White is from South Point, Second based one of our listeners. All right, okay, cool um. Free agent wide

receiver DeAndre Hopkins. It's later to fly to Nashville on Sunday for a visible the Titans. Right. No, he'll land somewhere. He's a talent, he just he just never materialized it there in Arizona, don't baseball? Right? Cheez Davis? Oh, yes, Davis transferring. He's he's announced that he's leaving and jumping into the Major League Baseball Draft. Dude's gonna make some money. He's gonna be a first round pick. Um. You know again, none of the guys you know hit well in the NC Double A Tournament.

But he is really the dude. You know, you watch enough baseball we all have, and you can see dudes. And I'm gonna use one of your phrases, even though I hate, I'll hate it. The dude looks like a baseball player, you know, because you're you're a guy off the bus. Guy looks like getting then he can't play with the crap. But this dude looks like you play it, and he hits the crap out. He can play. Did you the homer that he hit? Uh?

Yeah, the first type of yeah, that that it went over the it went out of the building and the uh the the the um they playing the first round Tu they challenged it and they couldn't. You couldn't see where the ball, couldn't find it. Yeah, you couldn't see the ball game down. It was hit so far. He had a lot of opportunities because minimum base. They had he come through with him and Kiko had come through, they would have won that game. They'd had some chances. They had some

chances. Um. To follow up on the Hopkins news, how do you guys feel about him being let let go and the team accepting the dead cab money that they just like they suck on, they suck. The Cardinals were just bad. I mean, come on, they're managed poorly, coach, they don't have We're talking about this all the time and you grew up. And who's had the worst luck or less whatever, the Cardinals, the Suns, or the diamond Backs, at least the diamond Backs. So it's all

kind of like, okay, what are you doing here? Yea? Um and then more I guess um Arizona Sports News Phoenix Suns have waves Chris Paul and he's currently weighing his options. Um, this possibility he could have come back with the Suns on a minimum vet contract, but he could be also assigning trade. Um. You know, so just so, Jay, So you you told me, you told us about an hour ago when this was happening, right, And I think, okay, well that's too bad,

you know whatever. And they're gonna pay him fifteen millions it was thirty Oh never mind, never mind? How you feel sorry for a guy who's gonna get fifty million to go away? To go away? I guess what we'll play somewhere else? Yeah, did you ever did you ever watch a scene and um, that movie Moneyball where where it's it's um, the guy who's playing David Justice is hitting in the batting cage and and you know, um Billy Bean goes in there to tell him about it. Look, we need

you to be a leader on this team. And you know, he goes into this stuff and and he says something like, you're you're paying me, you know, to you know, you know, you're paying me to get you know, to get base hits and hit home runs. He says, no, you're wrong. The New York Yankees thought so much of you. They're paying you to play for us and do that. So I'm asking you to do right. And then it'll kind of put him in his place. I'm saying, they thought so much of you that they're paying paying you to

play for us. You know. So so you saw I don't saw news Chris Paul's daughter, Yeah, you saw that. So that so she's going to school and she's being bullied. She's being bullied. Well, your son's your dad's never gonna win a title. I would have just told her, your your dad probably doesn't try what my dad drive. You probably don't live how I live exactly. Shut up, Yeah, get out of here. Um Josh Allen becomes the first Bills player ever to be featured on the on

Madden twenty four cover. Oh he's on the cover. Yeah, I hadn't heard that. It's awesome for him. It doesn't the Madden cover guy horrible seasons or sports the Sports Illustrated, the Sports illis cheer. But I will tell you that a picture named Alex Manoa, who went into the season as a cy young candidate and I drafted him. Tell me that sent to the miners yesterday, talking about what strikes again? He got sent to the He got sent to the miner. It's real. I mean, it's real.

He pitched on his last appearance. I think on Monday, he pitched a third of an inning, seven hits, six earned runs, and then they sent him to the miners. You need to stop, just stop. Um. Saudi Arabia could potentially acquire enough an NFL team in the future. I'm

after talking to a couple and a fellow team presidents. Reporter Albert Breer speculates it's not out of the line to consider of the idea that the saudis because I'll buy an NFL team down the line, because because yeah, there was there was a lot of discussion of that in the context of the of the of the this PJA Tour decision is that you know, will will the Saudis

get into buying an American Major League team. Some people are saying it would be more likely to happen in the NBA than the NFL because the NFL is such a hard nut to crack. His for us, stuff like that goes to get the good boys, you know where you got, you know, guys like who are a little off beat, like Mark Cuban and people like that. That it would probably be easier and more likely. Yeah, societies

would get into American pro sports by buying an NBA team. Okay, leon Old Messi has confirmed he is joining inter Miami, which is part of MLS. Um he for his contract. His contract hasn't been um exactly laid out, but he could earn a share of Apple's MLS season past revenue and get a cut off the adida's profits. Outside his arrival, he'll also become a part owner of the team as well. Somebody said it'd be like two hundred million dollars. The guys like, what is he thirty eight years old?

Yeah, he's close to forty years old. If not already, Duc tells crazy, the people on the pitch are yeah, to come in here and play and and you know, finish out, you know, finished out his career. Look, he's still a good player, but he's not He's not Lionel Messi of five years ago or ten years ago, who was just ungodly. But you know, hey he's a name. He's still got that name and he attracts that. Yeah. Yeah, that's what breaking I have. All Right, Um, let me see what I had. A couple of

things. Uh, we got Chase Davis stuff. Well again going back, you know, going back to the Bobby Robins stuff. Um. One of the comments, Well, first of all, you had John Kenzano who said, who said, uh that over the last few months that this grant of rights deal has been ready to go and then they need to sign it. Bobby Robin saying, I haven't heard that there's a deal like that. Um,

but he's still confident that a deal is going to get done. Um. He says that there's he sees, you know, forecasting projections that say that the Pact twelve does have the value the necessary value to uh to get a deal done. That that that the schools would be happy with UM and but then Robbins also said that, you know, would you change conferences and he said, depends on what the finance ancial deal is. Yeah, And at the end of the day, that's what they're doing. That's why this

is all said. He has said that all along, So that's not that's not that's not a shocker that he would he would say that that's the world we live in and all honesty. We talked about the n I L and I was with people up and if obviously sat Albuquerque over the week weekend. We talked about that. It's it's the uh, it's the the name of

the game is the money. So if you're gonna have a bet, if you have a better deal somewhere, you're gonna jump at it, right, And that's in players, that's well, and that's the take jobs, right, that's the take that that that Trent Delfer came out with. And Delfer was a you know, he was a Super Bowl quarterback, he was guy

commentator, he's a head coach at UEB. It's interesting what he said and I know and I hadn't thought of this, but it sounds pretty true because he was asked basically, how do you compete in the in the n I l UH framework, you know, with Alabama Georgia if they you know, they're rescuing him this there him this, like, like, you know, where are you going to get the nil money from UAB at UAB to keep your players from going to places like that? He said, We're not.

He said, we're not gonna We can't compete because I said, we have to come to grips with the fact that, you know, if if one of our players wants to go or has got good enough, if we developed them well enough that an Alabama or a George or somebody comes calling, there's nothing we can do about it, almost like and he was basically saying the UABS and the South Floridas and maybe even the Arizonas our our minor league franchises

for the higher level schools for then minor league franchises for the NFL with without question and I totally agree. In fact, that was one of our conversations with my friend and I who was a sports editor in New Mexico and in Colorado and now in managing editor somewhere, and I'm using that as a context. He said, they're all organ doners. If if you're if you're at UAB and you play, well, guess what, You're not staying there.

You're gonna go to the next limbl because Alabama needs a limb or a leg. You're that guy. You're that guy. And do you blame you if you? Hell know and see? And that's and that's what apparently what Delford said was that, look, why would I want I've taken this kid in onto my team, their parents trusted me with him. I brought him here to develop him, and I've done that, and I've done that. I've done my job as far as that goes. Why would I tell him don't

take the money? Sure? No, of course. Now I'll ask him, he said, I'll ask him, do you want to go to Mississippi and be kind of another guy? Or do you want to stay here and be the guy? I'll tell you right now, I'll give you. I'll give you the answer. You could be jet fished right right now, depending on what the money is. Uh stringer string string who left to USC singer? Singer singer, I'm sorry, do you sing same dude? You're talking

about the same dude, that guy? That guy? Yeah, No, and and and that, and that's what basically said, I'm not gonna tell that guy, I can give you twenty five thousand dollars, don't don't take the four hundred thousand dollars that Alabama's offering you. I'm not gonna tell him that. I'm just gonna we as And he's basically, we as a group of five coaches have to understand that that's our place in the higher archies, and if we fight it, we're gonna lose. I guarantee you that if

Trent Dilford does really well there, what's he gonna do. Yeah, he'll take the job exactly somewhere else. Yeah, And he said, look, we gotta get guys, and maybe one of our recruiting pitches becomes we'll get you ready for the sec which is perfectly we'll cut you up right, right, I mean, because right, I mean Arizona fed three guys to USC. You know, Arizona is one of those schools maybe on a higher level than UAB, but still one of those schools that can is gonna feed players

into Arizona, Ohio statement getting whatever the rest is up to you. Look, softball did it, they did it. Yeah, the girls who la and you know, and Janelle Mionio went from a from a leadoff hitter to a nine hit her. Well, guess what she's probably got, you know, fifty thousand or one hundred thousand dollars more than she was getting here, correct, if she was getting if she was getting anything here at all. Right, So that's just that's just what we're dealing with. Okay, it's

called the world it is. Well, it's not, it's not. It's not any different than anywhere else. Job. here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, Ja Gazo Now one of the phone we have Michelle Gardner all things Arizona State for the Arizona Republic. How are you, Michelle. I'm doing just dandy. How are you guys? We're fine. We wanted to pick your brand about what's going on at ASU and all this PAC twelve stuff, twelve stuff. What are you hearing? I still think my hunch on the PAC twelve is I still think the

PAC twelve ends up sticking together. That's my hunch. Ten to PA PAC ten because well, I think I think eventually they're going to add a couple of schools. I think San Diego Stayed and SMU were the ones that we've all heard. Um Ryanderson told me that those make the most sense, So that's my sense. I think the Big twelve in the Commissioner there are really good at throwing crap out there to get a rise out of people, and

throwing stuff out there to sit their own narrative. That's my take they're doing.

They're doing a good job. Well, the latest crap or are the latest rise they've gotten is all the discussion and the buzz that you're hearing about Colorado and Arizona winding up in the PAC twelve in the Big Twelve, which would require a split between Arizona and Arizona stake, which I, as a native of Tucson and a native of Arizona, have thought all along that that would never happen, although with how much we're hearing about it that maybe it's

not so out of the question anything you're hearing up there about whether or not these two schools could split. I just don't think it makes sense for them to split. To me, it makes no sense for that to happen. Obviously, Arizona's got the great basketball program, and to be in the Big twe would be very nice for that sport, But what about all the other sports. I mean, this should not be driven by a sport, so I would hate to see that happen. I think it's bad enough that USC

and UCLA are departing. I don't think that's going to go as well as they think it's going to go. I just can't wait till you know they've got to go to Rutgers for a swim meet in December or some stupid thing like that. I mean, I just I don't see how that's the best for the student athletes. And I think that I just think that that's going to go all wrong myself. So I would not like to see Arizona Arizona State split. I just can't even imagine that. Okay, Michel, So

how long I'm asking you this question for a reason? How long have you covered an issue sports up there? I got here in September of twenty and eighteen, Okay, So I asked for a reason. So I asked Jay, that's assume for a second they do split. They do split, So in a year or two, we write this story of who had it better in the PAC ten PAC twelve? Go, who do you think overall when you write that story, who had a better a Shoe sports or you obaid

sports. You mean, if they stay in the PAC twelve, if they disintegrate, they go there in separate ways. Oh, if they go I can't play that game. It's a hard game, it is. And I think, you know what again, I think it depends on what sport you're talking about. You've got so many different dynamics at work there, and obviously it's more driven by the money sports than the other sports. But I just

don't see. I think one of the nice things about the PAC twelve is I think, and at least selfishly, from the media standpoint, we've got it pretty good. Other than trying to get to Pullman, Washington. The trips are pretty easy. You're going into that. Their trips aren't long,

you're not affected by weather too terribly often. I mean, if you go to the Big Twelve and you've got to get to Waco, Texas, the middle of the nore Kansas, I mean, that's just I talked to a friend of mine that used to cover Oklahoma State and she said, traveling in that conference to cover the teams as a bitch. Yeah no, And you know, we actually it's talked about that a little bit because you know, I've got I'm the fan in the room, right, So I've got a

group of friends. We like to go to the u of A. I mean to the UCLA and usc football games wherever Arizona's playing, you know, every year and we go to one of those games, and I just don't see because it's right, it's drivable, the you know, the the you know, the the atmosphere is there. You know, the Rose Bowl and the LA Coliseum are really cool to go to go see a football game, although they sit the U of a fans in the worst places, but Arizona

doesn't do. But I think, I think myself, Okay, what what road trips am I going to take if Arizona's in the Big twelve outside of Denver and going to a Colorado game if they're if they're one of the teams in there. I don't see myself going anywhere, you know, I don't see myself, as you said, going to Wake or when you get there, right Waco, Lubbock, Uh, you know, still Water, Uh, you know, Aims, you know all those places you Manhattan can't.

I just don't see us going to any of those, and that really diminishes our fun in you know, following Arizona sports. That's my point. Yeah, that's my point. Yeah. Yeah. But so, I mean, is there is your sense that I know Arizona wants to stay in the pack in the Pac twelve, but they wouldn't hesitate to leave if the deal was better what they is used position on that? I mean, are they staying no matter what or what are their options? Well, I tell you what.

In talking to Ray Anderson, I mean I talked to him last week for a series of stories I did um and a series of stories ran a couple of weeks ago. He says he's not in the least bit interested in going anywhere else out of the Pack twelve. Yeah, now, maybe I could be a guy with his head in the sand, because I mean we know that they lagged behind when it Kim came to Nil and some of the other topics or whatever. But he said he's got no interest whatsoever in leaving

the PAC twelve. That's what he said. Yeah. Now maybe Crowe's got a different idea, but I would I would have to think that your athletic director has a pulse on that and has a gateway to the president. And he says he's in no way, shape or form interested in leaving the pack. Crow, I think he's more loyal to the Pack than anybody. Yeah, given what his loyalties have been. Yeah, absolutely absolutely. But Ray told me he is not talking to anybody. Okay, interesting, that's that's

what he told me. Maybe behind the scenes there might be some things going on, because maybe you're always going to throw or in the ocean just to see. But he makes it sound like he's not like the least been interested in going anywhere else. Is there any angst up there? Over the TV deal and how long this is taking. Well, I actually asked him about that and he said that normally, He said that normally the window is is about a year before your contract is up that you have a deal, make

a deal or whatever. So he said when they started negotiating, they actually did so quite a bit earlier than normally would be because you know, they've got another year to go on this deal. He said that he thinks that something will be announced in like maybe July or August, like late this summer. So he said everybody kind of got in. There was some ankst about

people just because they started negotiating so soon and something wasn't announced soon. He also said some of the things that have happened were beyond their control, whether it's layoffs at this place or layoffs at Google or wherever. And now you don't want to announce this million dollar TV deal when companies or land people off, And he said, then you had administrative changes that like didn't he and

wherever. So now you've got administrative changes and that delays thing. So he said there were those factors too that have delayed the macenes that were out of their control. Yeah, well, I you know, again, and I keep hearing, Well, there's a lot of stuff being said. Somebody said believe about a third of it. And you know, because you just and all this stuff that's come on the last couple of days. Was there a grant of rights deal done or not? You have all these you know,

all these media guys saying there was Robbie Robbins today saying there's not. I haven't heard of anything. So we just don't know anything doing No, it depends on who's saying it on what day. And yeah, so so you just covered to finish a school year, football, basketball, all that stuff. Upon a further review, I guess the football how did the football team look in the spring, and what's the future looking like come August September.

Well, I think Delighan is certainly very interesting, Charismatic, energetic, all those words apply. And I think you all know up there that there were or down there. But the worst thing you can have is fan apathy. And you've had the fan apathy laid in the Kevin Sumblin era and you got jet Fish in there and he jumps started energized people. And I think Gillingham

has kind of had the same effect here. You know, you laid in the Hermit era, you know, you had apathy when people just were ready to be done with them, and you have they're ready to be done with Ray Anderson too, but they're stuck because he's got a few years left on his contract. But I think when you bring a Dillingham in, you bring that energetic You change the narrative around the football program. And you've got a

guy that is from here, he wants to be here. So I think, will you bring in a coach from outside and they don't know the landscape of you know, Arizona football and Arizona State football, and they don't know the landscape, You've got to feel your way through that. So it's two or three years, you know, into your tenure before you kind of have that nown. And Dillingham has got that down. And the fact that the majority of his coaching staff have ties here, whether they're collegiately or high school

ranks, So he's got a lot of ties here. His coaches have a lot of ties here. So I think that was the higher that the alumni wanted, and I think it was the best one that they could make given the situation. It sounds like you're just talking about Jed Fish. Yeah, seriously, they are exactly are they not the same situation? I think the only difference is that Jed doesn't have any ties to Tucson or I literally stop

that I know of, whereas villing him did. But as far as coming in a time that was crucial to the football program where you had to get rid of the apathy and get people on board, I think it is pretty much the same situation. Were you able to get any sense from spring balls to what this team might look like going forward, you know what kind of

what kind of a team are they going to be? Well, I think it's going to be interesting because they've got so many new players, So how well they gael, how well they come together, that's the big factor. I think the strong point of the team is going to be the receiving corps. I think the offensive line is where there are some question marks. So and also just so you guys know, my feel is that Bourge will be the starting quarterback. That's my take. I think that Drew Pine was very

underwhelming in the spring. Maybe he looks better in the fall, but for a guy that started at Notre Dame, I thought he was very underwhelming. I think Jaden Rashida is good, but he's not ready yet, so I don't think he is the guy that's going to be the quarterback coming opening to come Opening Day, and I think it's going to be Trent. Do you do you want to preview a little bit the story that you were tamas off air that you're working on for this weekend. So I am actually working on

a Bobby Hurley story. And I know everybody in Tucson loves to hate Bobby Hurley, but I mean, he's just a fascinating guy. He comes from a fascinating family. So I'm writing a story that's going to run on Father's Day. And actually it was going to be one story and it's now turned into two. But I talked to Bob Hurley Senior about, you know, coaching at Saint Anthony, coaching at the high school level, about why he didn't take a college job. And I talked to Bobby and Danny both about

playing for their dad. I talked to Danny what it was like to win a national championship when you've been in the shadow of the other two. And I also talked to a little Bobby, Bobby's son who plays on the ASU team, and what's it like to play for dad? And I asked him, not that I'm going to get the whole thing away, but I asked him. I asked a little bobby, who's more competitive his father, his grandfather or his uncle? And he said, it's a three way tie.

Good answer, great answer, Good answer. So kid knows what to say. So now that you're talking about Hurley, he did a pretty good job basketball. He's last year probably saved his job, unless his job was not under the gun. What do you think. I think he did a fantastic job. I mean, when you looked at the team, I think he had a group of guys that really liked each other and enjoyed playing together.

And I think he learned a lesson from the Marcus Bagley Josh Christopher year when he had a lot of guys that were used to be in the guy and everybody was used to having the offense run through them, and they didn't have the chemistry or you know, the teamwork to match expectations. So I think they exceeded expectations. I mean, they make a heat free throw here or

there, they beat TCU, and who knows what would have happened. So, Um, you know, it's too bad that a now in the age of the transfer portal in the NIL era, that a lot of the guys on the team that wouldn't would have been back are not. But you can't Warren Washington supposedly got a six figure deal from Texas Tech. Um, So you can't blame guys for going where the money is. But I think he's

done a good job replacing the pieces that heed. Yeah, he's kind of learned to recruit the best, not the best players, but the best players that fit what you want to do right right right. So so is there anything that in particular that he's got to do this coming year? Uh? I mean how good do they have to be for for you know, to keep any kind of pressure off of him, being that he you know,

rallied last year. Well, I don't, I honestly don't think. I mean, he got a contract extension at the end of the year, so I don't necessarily, I think, necessarily think his job's in jeopardy. Um. You know, I think the way they rallied and when they were, the way they pulled together at the end of the year, um and put in I mean they played with it when you look at the way they played with their backs to the wall basically the last three weeks of the regular season

and then down the stretch. Um, they just really came together. And I thought he did a fantastic job getting the most out of those guys, and he gave it to the Arizona fans at the end, went back and told them, hey, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, and Arizona facs love that stuff. Okay, Michelle, I appreciate your time. Fantastic stuff anytime, great, right, thank you, Michelle Gardner from the Arizona Republic. Yeah, let's take a break, maybe get some calls, talk about a

Yeah. Yeah, but that's kind of that's kind of implied in what we're talking about, because you could be

the big dog if if things happened for whatever reason, you know. Yeah, and I understand that, I mean again, but that they're they're planning on sticking with the pactabs long as they can, whereas Robbins has said, we want to stay, but it's something better comes along, we're going sure, sure, So go ahead, give us some more information from rub Well

to kind of refresh everybody. Uh uh the universe. The UFA is hosting a what what they're calling the Future of College Athletics summit up in Washington, d C. All the media, all the national media has has uh has descended on that. UM. Bobby Robbins, the UFA president, has been on national radio talk shows or national TV talk shows. He held a press conference, so he's getting a lot of media run and we are going to try and get him on the show. We're working on that already. But

this uh, this summit is tonight tomorrow in DC. UM. But Pete Thamil, the writer for ESPN, came out with a full on story from I think it sounds like he's he covered the press conference but also may have interviewed him. But the major points coming out of this in uh in Famil's story, one is that the u A wants to stay in the PAC twelve. Bobby Robin said, there's ten of us right now. I'm hopeful the

deal is going to be good enough to keep us all together. Um, but there's some there's some points about there's some some things about this one. And it's the thing that we talked to about a minute ago is that, you know, Bobby Robins came out and said, we can split if we want to. Ye. And that's again, that's it goes against everything that I've thought, having witnessed what happened with the Pack when when the Arizona schools went to the Pack eight now that then became the Pac ten. How tied

you know, joined at the hip. They've been pretty much on all things, whether academics or sports related. But now, um, the president of the u of A just saying, Um, however, how unlikely it is, it's not out of the question. He said, we don't have to do this. This is a quote. We don't have to do the same thing. But President Crow, that's Michael Crow, the president of as you

the President, Crow and I are very very tight. I think it'd be unlikely that would be split up. Yeah, more to what you were saying before, h it would be very hard pressed up to figure that it would happen, right, Um. And then as far as the money goes again. He says he's not nervous about what's you know, what's going on.

He's saying being that he's been a hard surgeon, so he doesn't get nervous about something like a TV deal, which is, well, come on, if you're that's that's part of the most u pragmatic thing anybody could ever say. Come on, I have death. Yeah, you know, I interviewed him one time. He said, I've held a heart, a beating heart in my hand. I don't get nervous about other stuff like you ain't going

up a patient. That's nothing baby exactly. But uh uh, but he said, he's he said, we're not going to get a big ten deal and these are all quotes from Pete Damil's story. We're not going to get a big ten deal or an SEC deal. If we win a bronze medal, I think we'll all declare victory and move on. So basically, if they get the next best deal, they'll be happy. Yeah. Yeah,

you just saying, can it happen tomorrow? Let so anyways, any think he said, once the deal gets done whenever that is, whenever the deal does get done, he said, or whenever they come to them with a deal that he said, it will happen fast. Everybody's ready to pull the trigger. They're just as excited as there's anybody to get this done. Yeah, but you know, and then he said, basically every school is going to take the deal, analyze it, and then make their making their own

decision as to whether or not the deal is good enough. But he said he thinks that he he goes, I have full confidence we're going to get where we need to be. All right, Okay, anybody want to call please do? We got eleven minut it's yeah. Left. There was a couple of things. What did I say? A couple of baseball players have or have entered the portal baseball baseball wise, so you know there's gonna be

a lot of movement here as the end of the year. Nay, as always, you know, I you know, Steve, I think there's that. I think there's a there's a gaggle of people out there who want Arizona to go to the Big twelve. What do you mean? Of course, I think there's a lot of people No, no, I think yeah, of course who think that the PAC twelve is not gonna be no worthy is it. I don't know. Is it? Like you say, if Arizona jumps and Colorado jumps or whoever, it's done, it's done. What's the

appeal? Oregon is gonna say, what the hell? You gonna get the but but but if it, if it holds together, you'll think it's a good league. Let's assume it stays together and they have whether it's SMU or somebody else. How sexy is it? How sexy is it? Now? It's sexier than Waco? Yeah, but if you're gonna get paid a lot of money to live in Waco, wake, you're gonna go to Waco. I don't want Okay, I'm saying I don't want to go. I don't want Arizona go to the Big twelve. You don't want to do that?

For that reason? I do. I want them to stay in the Pac twelve. I really do. Given given the way, it's gonna be right. Also, you know when you wait, okay, let's take this call. Hi, you're on the air and I on the ball. So well, look who's here? Look who's here? Is that what's happening? But I'm grasping right, that's that's what we're going on. And like like hitchhiking, we're we're pulling up our dye and seeing if we get a right. I think that kind of is Mike and Bob. I don't pick up hitchhike

Mike, Mike, fat Mike, not fat Bob. I say, Mike, let's say Bob, Bob, you called me Bobby Bear. I haven't heard from you and forever you know. That's a good that's a good analogy there there, Mike. That there Arizona's got that's standing on the side with its thumb out and pulling its pant leg up, looking desperate, looking death with it. And is the pactols such a dumpster fire or with an appeal?

I think the best bet is to merge with the with the Big twelve, if anything, because the SEC is gonna be a monster that eats up everything into its little brother, the Big ten. I think the a Big three conference is to merge all all the Pact PAC twelve schools or the PAC ten school now the two I guess now the LA schools are leaving and merge

with the Big eight. So it's gonna be the big egg in the PAC tend Yeah, that's and again that's probably not a bad model, but that maybe I don't know if they anybody wants to have that many schools in one conference yet, well, well just read out the week. I'm afraid of Arizona being one of the week. I think Arizona would be you know, would be kind of the fat off of that. I what are we doing football? What do we do in basketball? Said? Joke, like,

who are we? What are we work? Who wants to see Arizona? Well? No, no, I fact like, you're exactly yet, what's the appeal of Arizona? And I'm not. This is a question because it's to be fair, you're not You're not compare yourself to somebody else in the bill the Arizona. The appeal to Arizona is the basketball. Okay, even though they lost, that's that's yeah, you're a bad brother, hanging you're a bad basketball program being turned into Colorado or something that wasn't there? What

the heck would it be? Well, we gotta hang ourselves on what they did in the transfer portal and getting more American I players. I think that was a big turn off. Don't get me wrong, getting these these overseas guys, but um, getting these homegown players does help have ever bad that

sounds on radio nowadays because it's a slippery slope. I'm not saying anything against foreigners or European basketball players, but I locally people are more I guess content with American players, understand because they don't know what what's going on on the other side. Honestly, if this team last year would have done well, they wouldn't even be thinking that, Oh, yes, it's exactly benedicted the year before. They if Houston doesn't rough us up, but you know,

plays real defense on us because we're a soft program. If we flip the scripts on our soft program, we could never mind. We're just going down something with unresolved issues. This is like therapy. But back to whatever Zona's appeal is, it's it is the basketball team, and Lloyd is well, we're hanging ourselves on. I know Foball is resurrecting and we gotta have a

football season, but Arizona is basketball and that Lute is whatever. The remnants of lute is fading away from the NBA with the equal dollars of the world retiring, the last thing we got is is cursed. So you know, that's what we had to hang ourselves. Hang our hat on a lot um that's fading. No cowboys, that's never fading. Total cowboys. Don't. Don't be a stranger. Stranger. I love you guys, you know, thanks for finding calling it after a while. You checking on two old men

cookies. Man, I hate a ton of orioles in rocket. He looked a little heavy. I picked up a lot. Pick up some weight, dude, how much weight did you gain this week? I lost three pounds? Did you? Oh? Because pictures of what you were eating, man, it was very very mentally like twice and I didn't eat this. Yeah, no, I lost some There a lot of water. I'm supposed to drink a lot of one. I put on like five pounds, I really did. I drank a lot of beer. Well that's where you ate a

lot of everything. Well that's where you picked it up and and and really bad for me, ate a lot of sugar. Oh that's yeah, that's not good. Guilty of that too. But but but I did the smart thing though I had my physical before jas just hang on, I have no resuscitation. If something happens to me, I don't know about him. You're you're in charge of the show something I got. I got three months to work it off before I go back for my next checkout. Oh the golf

course, right, I did go golfing down there. There's a really for anybody who goes to Rock Point. They've got some nice golf course that downe the two Nicholas design of course, as we played one of them this weekend, and place called East lustil Mare that surrounded by water. Um. I hit seven water balls, seven ocean ball yeah. Um. Two of two of the guys playing with us hit a dozen. So um. It was a fun course, very fun course. Take a little balls. I had

a lot of fun. I mean that in every way. So anyway, Okay, we got to three minutes, maybe getting called if you want to call one quick one. If the game tonight, I'm looking forward to that. It's at six. Who times in six is usual? Yeah? Okay, you think, I know we asked at the top. You still think Denver wins? Everyone's margin? What is this spin? What is the spit? Have you seen? Yeah? I have it here. I would take it. If it's a plus three or something, I would take denver favorite,

Denver's favorite favorite. Okay, I won't touch it. Denver is, uh, let me see. No, I'm running, not just I'm just gonna Denver is giving three and a half. Yeah yeah, in the money line on Denver's minus one sixty five. Yeah no, I won't touch that. I think they'll I think they'll win here. They're the better if I can't say anyone, Manami, they're good. No, no, no, man, I'm I'm tempted to take the plus one four. We haven't heard from your guy, Miami. Is it Justin? Who's Umami guy? God?

Forget him? Well, Devin, Devin, he's a Miami heat. Yeah, so we'll see. I'm considering taking Miami money line like like like Miami, Yeah, I would you like him? I don't blame you. I don't blame me. It should be a good game at whole, of course, of course they they played well. I'm really upset with myself because I wanted to take the money line in game two, Yeah, and I didn't. That was plus something that's about three years and I didn't take it. Thank you for doing that. By the way. Yeah, I want

to want to, you know, a good series. I don't want to swee you don't don't tell you what you do because I don't want to know. Well, it's still whoever wins tonight, it's still gonna it's still a good series seven six or seven. Yeah, we'll see. What about that the stuff that Kyrie Irving apparently was out there trying to get to go to the go to the Mavericks, Come on, yeah, that's just I didn't even BlimE if any of that. Um, I just think that's like noise

giant distract what he's really my one. I think he's gonna end up leaving Mavericks, but I don't think he's gonna. Do you like him as a player? I do? Yeah, yeah, okay. Would you want him on your team? Um? It depends if he's willing to take less than what I think he's he wants the mask. If he's willing to take a little less money, yea, I would want him as a talent next to

Lebron and Anthony Davis. But even if somebody who's just a pain in the ass, well, I think maybe this is like I'm living in the past, But I think with Lebron that isn't that hasn't been such a much of an issue versus like other guys because of Lebron's like his personality, the player he is, He's able to kind of mask all of that and kind of take it all within himself and it's just basketball with him, you know,

from for the most part. So I think with Lebron, none of that would be so much of an issue versus with guys like Katie who doesn't have to that like you know, leadership, you know, you know, yeah, so good anybody who has him, good luck to you. Yeah, that's what I say. He destroyed. He goes to Dallas and everybody had this promise, right yeah, and they just went into the craw. Yeah.

I mean he's only one whiff Lebron. That's why, like maybe I'll live in the past because I was like, so long you're twelve, what kind of past do you have? I mean he's very start past, right, you know, exists back with eighteen years old man Man said when I was eighteen years old last year, I couldn't drink yea like too funny. All right, Uh, that's it, that's it. Come back with first

stay back. Probably Rusty is all hell like you guys would say rusty, yeah, we and you know, way it takes a long time to wear our freshman. You get a lot of beer. You said that I'll shake some of this. Somehow, my back hurts. They drank so much beer. You can't tomorrow? You are you Friday? All right? Okay, okay, Hey, thanks for being with us, thanks for welcoming us back, and we'll be back tomorrow, so be sure to stop in. We'll see you tomorrow.
