This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services and Sure Your Most Prized Possessions kt z R two song at iHeartRadio Station. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, you're jagan ZAUS got our guy Henry and today welcome to Wednesday Show. Hope to have a good one. Hope to have a lot of calls today. Yeah, we could use them, could use them. No guests in

the first hour, at least, not right now. We've been It's June, right, it is June, and it's just part of the end of June. Yeah, end of June. So we're kind of treating we're already hitting the dog days. People are on vacation or people hard to find. Yeah, you know, and they are. I mean, you know, this breakfast club that I go to on Tuesday mornings, usually we've got, you know, fifty sixty people at the meetings O're forty. Yeah, you

know, people are just you know, they're taking a vacation. You've been out side. You get the hell out of dood dogs. Yeah, but yeah, exactly exactly, and so yeah, no, it's it's that time of the year. So yeah, okay, yeah, great. If you want to call calls at any time, we won't have anybody at least right now in the first first hour of five two oh four, one, six seventy four, four seventy four forty you can give us a call, fill

us in whatever's going on your thoughts. I've got a lot of not a few texts on how excited it's not the right word optimistic they are because the recruiting that's going on. Yeah, a lot of those, you know, my Wednesday lunch was a lot of that discussion. Everybody's you know, feels like he and it. It's like everybody agrees, we don't know how good

players are, you know, for a while. But you know, when you see that they're beating teams like you know, Oregon, Oklahoma, Washington, you know whatever that those as opposed to you know, all corn State or whatever, you know, there's a good feeling that that Arizona might be getting some good players right right and if what you can spin it this way too, if they're not uh, the four or five star guys which of course it's hard to do here. Uh what's the what's the other phrase.

Well, they're gonna coach them up. They're gonna coach them up. Uh, you know, they're what they call them okay g's okay gez. Yeah, you know, And I think that that's sort of you know, where Arizona is and where they're going to be, And there's nothing wrong with that. I think that, Uh, you know, Arizona's not that place.

It's gonna get you know, all the five stars. So they got to get guys, they got to develop them, they got to coach them, and they got to keep them in you know, they got to keep them here for a period of time. Right, Yeah, no questions, Well, let's go. I'm gonna you know how I am. I kind of round about questions to you and to everybody who's listening. Uh So, Caitlin Clark's going to be playing in Phoenix, I think next week, if I if I yeah, Henry, you can perming me with your head nod.

Hey, yeah, I guess some of the tickets, if some of the big tickets are like three hundred bucks each, you're paying that sheet. No, she feels she feels the arena, wherever she goes. And that's that's the amazing thing about it. You know, they're not just coming to her home games. You know, they're they're everywhere. They're they're everywhere everywhere she goes. They're you know, they're fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen thousand

people at these games. Then great, you know, rather than say well, it's because of this or it's because of that, you say, guess what, that's cool for the WNBA. And and you know, we we had that conversation this afternoon as well. Is that you know, I get, I get the the the mentality of existing WNBA players who you know, want to say, look, we're going to make her work hard for this. We're gonna you know, we're gonna make it hard on her coming in.

And they do that for a lot of rookies, which is fine, But the resentment that they have towards the attention that she's getting, you need to get over that and embrace it. You know, we've said that a bunch of times, and embrace it and take advantage of it by you know, being a person that Okay, if she's gonna get all this attention, well I'm you know, I want to get my attention to and it's gonna

do me some good. But in the right way. Not by going up and knocking her down when she's standing there, you know, but more along the lines of, you know, playing hard against her, you know, when she comes to town, you know, throw a little extra into it and look good doing it, rather than you know, trying to you know, come across as a thug that's just pissed off that somebody else is getting attention that you're not. Yeah. So well, the first question was you

pay for it? No, three hundred bucks, I'm not paid. I might pay fifty bucks. It might pay I don't know. Look, I'm not I'm not a huge fan of the w NBA. I'll watch it occasionally. I've watched, You've watched more than you ever had, right because I've wanted to see. Okay, what's what's all the excitement about? For free? But I'm not for sure. Yeah. Look, I go to one or two Diamondbacks games a year, so you know, I haven't been.

I've been to two Sons games ever. So I mean, you know, it's not It's not a sport that interests me to to spend my money on and you go to diving back my primarily see the do you see the Dodgers exactly? So you know, look, it's it's stated. We've had this conversation a million times. It's kind of expensive to go to a sporting event. And so if I'm going to go to a sporting event, you know,

it's gonna be one that I really really want to go to. You know, I'm we're working out a plan to go to a Dodger game this summer. But it's like one game, right. I bought some tickets for a Dodger game at a silent auction the other day, so I'm going to use those, But it means I got to you know, got to either hop in the car, catch a flight to go catch a game at Dodger

Stadium. But that you know, it's it's you know, I mean, you know, if I put my money into you know, going to U of A games here in town, and so that's that's where it goes. And if I had more money to spend on on games, I think the w n b A is pretty far back in the Yeah, and that makes sense, of course. Uh and and just recently it's come come aboard. Let me ask you. We talk a lot about Arizona Athletix, uh,

all the sports. Obviously when you're not doing this here, you're out and about and so am I. Do you hear feedback from what we talk about? Like some people that would be a fact, not not just listeners, but I'm talking about from people in the building kind of like, uh, you know, hey, you guys missed on that or hit on that or blah blah blah or they're not going to admit it. I'm going so okay, you're you're out about you see someone who works in Michale or tied to

Michale. I heard you. The guys. You guys are spot on or not spot on, or they don't say anything. They mostly don't say anything, you know, Like I said told you, I mean early on when when when Desiree refriends. While I got here, you're hearing rumors about things changes that she was making kind of petty kind of stuff, you know, from the people. From the people. Well, none of that's coming to

Fruition. So you know, the rumor mail got going about her, and none of it's happened, So you know, it's it's it's been kind of interesting as far as that goes, Hi, you're on the air and I on the All yeah, hey, guys, A quick question, what have happened to you? What happened to you? Have a ticket price and the relative the last year. That's good question. The football tickets went up a bit. I my ticket went from I believe where I sit went from four

hundred and thirty five to four hundred and eighty five. I think went up fifty bucks or something like that. Maybe if or twenty it might have even gotten a twenty five bucks. I get two tickets, so I paid an extra fifty I'd have to look it up, but not not enough for me to say I'm not doing that for sure. We got we got to I get we got a tailgate pass, you know for the Michaelon It went from four hundred to four to twenty five. Okay, sounds great. All right,

thank you guys. Okay, you're very welcome. So you're looking at maybe ten percent ten percent. I'll look it up to to see exactly what it was, but I think I think I went up fifty bucks a ticket where I sent in section twenty three, which is about the ten yard line on the north west side. NORTHESTI okay, and so I think that you know, it didn't go up tremendously, and you know, I knew it was going up, so I didn't, you know, do you think?

And I think I maybe brought this up. Either had to be earlier this week because I was out last week that two songs not a rich place, right, that they could in the need of money getting money, they could price out some people. And we talked to Ray yesterday about the demographics and the maybe grabbing some more Hispanic audience not just here but in the south of the border where they could price people out even though they want to get them.

They have to be careful. They have to be careful about that because you know, Arizona support. Look, basketball for a long time has been out of people's price with right and they and they fill it up and they know, you know, so they've got the demand so they can they can charge what they charge. Football has been a different thing, you know, going back to you know, the five dollars you know, not whole ticket and and those kinds of things they're having, you know, ten dollars uh

tickets. They've got to be careful about pricing people out there. Are people out here who can pay good money to go right. They get the fifty yard line seats and and the or the you know, the load seats or whatever. But you know, I think I'm a pretty average fan. You know, I I want to I don't want to sit in the end zone. You know, I don't want to pay the by the cheapest ticket. But I'm not you know, I'm not a fifty yard line person either, I said, you know, we're a I'm a ten ten yard line sit

high enough where I still got a good view of close everything. They're good seats for us. Plus we've got other people to think about, uh, you know, who can They want to sit with us, but they don't want to spend any more than what we're spending. So you know, I mean really we you know, just only a few years ago that we were

set in one section further north, one section towards the end zone. But uh got a little rowdy over there, so we decided to move in one and we just thought, you know, let's move let's move in and see because so it's it's not they just have to be careful and because you know, okay, so you're gonna sell more higher price. You're gonna sell higher price tickets, but you're not gonna sell more of them, right, some

people are gonna leave when it gets to a certain point. Right, So I and I Steve, I'm not smart enough to know what that problem you do that the price line is. I am not smart enough to know how you do that. Yeah. The one thing that's and I'm sure you go shopping more than You're not more than your wife, but you're you know, in addition to your wife. I go because I go because everything's higher. Oh, going to the grocery store and you kidding me and everything, I

mean it could be whatever. Go order a big mac meal at McDonald's. It's thirteen dollars. Yeah, yeah, you get out of there, and it's give fifteen sixteen bucks there, Yeah for you, just for you. You get you get, you get a burger, a fry, and a coke and it's fifteen bucks at McDonald's. It used to be fifteen bucks to go to, you know, a nice burger joint where you sit down and they feed you. Yeah, no, no, I get it. That's and that's kind of my point. Everything's up probably never going to come back

down. And now you have a place of people that need to go to people who need you guys to go to the games. And how is that gonna happen when if the dollar is stretched? It's a very dicey place for them to be, right now, It really is, because I think that you know, they need the money, no doubt they need the money, but you know you charge more, do you wind up with less? Right? Yeah? Right? Which makes it a wash kind of right, makes

the wash. Instead of having forty thousand people, you have thirty eight thousand people. So they given of the same mount and ready a brought another thing. And we talked about this a number of times as people who go to the games but don't go to the games, they go and parties your place right, places like yours, right, and then after they go home, then they go home. Right. Yeah, there's a lot of those, you know, I mean so many of those that they had to make a

rule what you couldn't stay. You can't stay you if you're tailgating, if you're in the tailgate area, you have to be either in the stadium or gone from the tailgate area I think fifteen minutes after kickoff something like this. So they police that, Yeah, police yeah, yeah they do. You know, there were so many people who would go tailgate, bring a TV, stay there party during the game, and then be there after the game. By that time they're drunk and then the fights breakout. Yeah, but

they don't let you do that anymore. They cleared the tailgate area. They're fifteen or thirty minutes after kickoff. Okay, imagine all that revenue that could be going inside to to have some fun or at least watching him. No,

and I know people who do that. You know who I think are are pretty decent fans, But I know there are people who do that, and who you know who don't you know who don't go to the In my humble opinion, I think the one thing to solve that is to obviously win, yeah, win some games, win some games, and for people to feel like it's worth their money to you know, to spend to go to a game and know you're gonna have a good time because maybe there's a chance

that they're gonna win, right, right, and it should be a fun season this year. Like you say, basketball sales itself, Football just needs to continue to have that trajectory of moving up, moving up. Okay, Okay, let's say we're gonna have no guests here in the first half, although I didn't have one for tomorrow at the same time, I'll tell you on the break, and then in the second hour, we're gonna have Scott Thompson. I ran into him a couple of weeks ago. He's been on

the show with the media a couple of times. I love talking to him. He's been everywhere. He's now back in town. You know, he had cancers beat that, He's worked for a lot of cancer societies. We'll see what he's up to and just get him his take on what's going on today. You know he was he was there when you were there, Yeah, covering the team. Yeah, the first year I covered the team was his last year at Arizona. He took that job at Rice, which,

as I recall, Luke didn't want him to take it. He thought he could get a better Really, I didn't know that. Could you bring that up to him and to see what he says, Oh, I see what he says. Yeah, he was a little upset of me because I include him in my book. But there's only twenty five people I could talk to everybody, so I apologize, Okay, before we go out there. Just to answer your question, my tickets did go up fifty bucks a ticket.

They went from three forty per ticket to three ninety per ticket, three fifty bucks. That's about a little more than fifteen percent fifteen percent, thirteen fifteen percent. And then as I mentioned the uh, the tail, they passed one up twenty five bucks and uh, that's yeah, that's what I have. Yeah, and that's kind of they said ten to forty percent into so I'm sure it's a gradual to forty exactly. And I had again as I said, I had no problem with it. Yeah, I was expecting it.

seventy four forty. I'm just looking at some predictions for Pig twelve. Well, I was gonna say people, there's probably people out there saying that we're a couple of losers because we swent through a whole first segment and didn't even mention the fact that the NBA Draft is tonight, but tomorrow it starts tonight. Oh, just tonight it starts. That's even worse. No, no, no, In fact, because it's always thought on Thursday, I know

that's funny. But because because they they two days, it's two days now. Yeah, that's funny. Because I've been trying to reach out to scouts and to people to have them. I was waiting for you to say, oh, in the NBA Draft, No, no, because I was ready for tomorrow. So it's one change. Because it's two days, I didn't

know what's on Wednesday. The first round is tonight. Okay, I spent fifteen minutes boning up on it today because I was trying to reach out to some people that and they didn't Well, you know, look I mentioned a million times I'm not a huge NBA fan. I do pay attention to the draft, largely because because there's usually Arizona guys in it, right, I can't. I've had so little interest in this draft because I've never even heard of the guy who's going to be the number one. Bad draft. It's

a bad draft. Yeah, quality of draft is number good, should be good. I mean I go down the list, and okay, I've heard of Reed Shepherd at from coming out of Kentucky, the two the two Yukon

guys that are supposed to be in the top five or top six. And then and then I go down a little further and I wonder, why did Colorado suck when they've got two guys who are supposed to drafted in the top fifteen or sixty two guys sposed to go Cody Williams, who to this, I still say, you know, I saw him play three times, you know, three times against Arizona, just once on TV once here, and well I saw more than once I saw him, you know, all their

games that at the PAC twelve tournament, and they kept saying he's a he's a high number one picking up hig first round picking. I'm like, why, yeah, Henry, do you have an opinion on that? I feel like every time Arizona played them, all the broadcasts would talk about was just how his potential? Yeah, I remember because he was a skinny guy, right, yeah, guy? But did theydn't even look any good? It's all about potential, yeah, I mean I argued that he I don't know

that he would even start at Arizona. Yeah, it's all about potential. Let me give you this bet. Apparently I made. It happened in January. I guess, well, I'll get to that. So which way would you go with this twenty bucks? Who would be drafted higher? Johnson or pell U from Arizona? I would have I would have taken Keisha Johnson. Okay, so apparently I took a pele? Okay, why you don't know?

Bryan Peterson Byan Peterson sent me a note about a month ago after I just Johnson had a good combat, right, and he says, okay, you want to pay me now or payment. I'm thinking, what are you talking about? This is well, we made that bet that says we did this is what. I have a third party that's uh, that witnessed it. I said, okay, and so I guess Johnson had a good Yeah. But then a week later Pelly had a good timeline. So I'm thinking,

I like my bet, so whatever. But truthfully, I told them I don't remember the bet because I don't think either of them are going to get drafted. They might be drafted, but I'm not sure they will. I think at this point both of them are going to get drafted in the second round. I don't know. With with key shot going high in the second round, we'll like like in the thirties. Yeah, we'll see that. I'm down twenty. I have a number four. That happens, number

four? What's next? No, that's that's this is this is just a friendly your bet. You're betting, you're betting, and then don't even remember betting. That's that's the gambling problem, right, And usually you remember stuff like that because because well, first, like I said, I didn't think either of them were going to be drafted. In fact, it probably would be best if they didn't so they can go to the team that wants them.

Honestly, look always Having said all that, I don't even know how much attention I will pay to the draft as a as a talk show person. Here we have to talk and we need to talk about it. But again, I don't know who these guys are. Yeah, a lot of international again, yeah, but international guys, Henry, you know, I don't know. Yeah, So I we'll see. But it starts five o'clock. By the way, Steve our time. Okay, I'm going to rush and race home and catch and catch the whole draft. I don't think so.

And then the second round is tomorrow. That's where I think, you know, we'll hear about the U of a guys. Although at one point did I not see a box draft where key Shot was actually late first round? The highest I saw him was like thirty five, So maybe there was one who was it? Draft Kings, Draft, net, Draft, NBA draft I used to do all the time, and I got I used to

do that all the time. Aftually covered the team and some dude, uh realistic he sent some me know you're you're using your sources as a as this with a bunch of kids who are doing the mocks us as well. If you have a better one, you can let me. And it's turned into a butterfly business. It's a business, definitely business, and it's not exact science because they say this and say that it works and something. Well,

the one I've been looking at has been on the NBA website. They somebody there pulled together all the all the mock drafts and did like a like a like an eight people, you know, accumulated all the you know, all the votes, and they've got they got this kid from from France going first, Zachary Researcher something like that, going to the Hawks, a six y nine guy, and then a dude from Australia, Alexander Sar going second,

and then Read Shepherd to the Kentucky point Wow. Which is a surprise to me that he would go third of this Kentucky point guard because he he jumped man man. Okay, we'll see. But so you you take the Johnson pick, I would take the Pelli pick. I would take neither pick. But I will say, I think back then, when when did you make that bad? Yes, January, I might have taken Palette, I don't know, you know, it had been a tough gut. Somebody would ask

me to bet that. I don't know that I would have even bet it because I'm, you know, so uncertain. I might have done it for giggles. If I might have said, Okay, you pick one and I'll take the other. Yeah, well I could have done it too. I don't remember. But we'll see what happens. Good luck to each of them, you know, each of one, because we we we'll see what happens. Now, if you ask me who I think has got the best shot of making the team, I think it's Keisha Johnson hands down. You know

he's got he's got more of the physical uh skills. By that, I mean he's a more physical player, athletic, you know, athletic than then then then Pala Palas. You know, a better shooter if you can make yourself and even in better shooter, you know, he would have a chance.

He's a good defensive player. But you know, neither of those guys are are a height that with the skills that match with the skills they have, as they would need and they either need to be a little taller, you know, or with the skills that they have or shoot, they would need to be a little quicker to play on the other side, to be as tall as they are and play, you know'll be a two or three and need to shoot be better shooters. So they're kind of in between.

They have big man skills, but they're not really big man as it relates to the NBA Big Man. We'll see right after the show begins, right shows it begins after the show in Okay, we'll keep We'll see what happens throughout tomorrow too, because tomorrow will be the day when it starts five tomorrow to okay, probably eight o'clock Eastern time. Okay, we'll see that.

We're going back to regular schedule, regular schedule program. I tell you you're bringing up what I want to bring this up, and blah blah blah. Maybe someone can call us because I totally forgot. Oh, the Big twelve, the Big twelve. They had some Big twelve and they went to the Big twelve over unders. Blah blah blah. This came out about two hours ago, about three hours ago. Yeah, Big twelve. It says win totals, odds picks predictions for every team. Utah Kansas make a case for

contention. Arizona went over under eight wins? What are they doing over on eight wins? Wins that in New Mexico or against New Mexico, NAU, Texas Tech. That't three at b y U four, Colorado five, West Virginia six, Houston seventh, Arizona State eight, lost us to Kansas State, UTAH UCF and at TCU. Wow. Okay, that's kind of legit, isn't it. Yeah? I mean yeah, I mean that that. You know, that's a all of those are reasonable, right? You know

whenning at BYU, that sounds that sounds tough. That's a tough one. That that I that that's gonna be that Washington State game from last year, right where we said, okay, if they be Washington State, now things start to happen and that and that's what happened. I think that the B why B why boy is gonna be hard every year and I hate that about that. You could really so where where did you see this? It's it's on ms N. It's MSN real quick, But realistically, I think that's

that's about right because everyone's gonna be good to well, not everyone. A lot of the teams are gonna be good, you know, the again and the for Arizona fans, you've got to realize, Okay, you know from where we've sat in the in the big bad PAC twelve. You know, teams like Central Florida, Kansas State, Kansas even to a degree, Texas Tech. I think there's some kind of Arizona fans think those programs aren't as good if they are right, they don't realize how good those programs are.

And you know, you know, we're gonna have to get used to the fact that Arizone is gonna lose some games to some teams that you think they shouldn't lose games to. This is you can't. You don't always win games on paper, and you just by perception perception you think, oh no, not necessarily Because I bring this point up like two years ago for the Final four and the Florida team Florida International, Yeah, who do you right? Who you about them at all? And then they finally played in front of

you. He says, oh these good They were pretty damn And then you think, where did these guys come from? Well, they've been there.

You just didn't notice them, We didn't You didn't see him right, And you know, and I know I know Arizona fans thumb their nose that by you, because you know what, we went to the PAC twelve and by you didn't, right, And so I think that you know, fans are gonna have to get you know, kind of readjust their thinking about, uh, some of these programs that they've kind of looked at from a distance and not realized that while you know, we were playing USC and u C l

A and those teams, those are the programs were getting pretty good. I mean Central Florida had an undefeated season a few years ago and remember and they claimed that they were, you know, national champions. So did you get it? Get it? So talking about Kansas having eight wins, uh, Kansas State nine and a half, Pogloma State eight, that that Kansas State game is a is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Arizona fan just thinks Kansas State can't be that good. Sure, that's a loss right

now. If you're if you're would you say ten points nine if you're penciling in you know, if you're looking at Arizona scheduled penciling in wins and losses, and you penciled that in as a WU his reputation, Yeah, you're you're you're you know, you're, you're, you're, you're you're not thinking right, So I think that it's a it's a uh, you know, there's gonna be some time for Arizona and it's gonna have to get used to,

you know, who's good and who's not. You know, and Arizona could be could lose two in a row, going to going to Kansas State and then going to Utah the week after that, and all of a sudden, you're two and two and you're going, wait a minute, I thought we were going to be good. You're well, they can still be good. Yeah, but those are those are two of their hardest games of the year. Yeah, thanks, yeah, yeah, give us a quick call back. Actually, you don't wait till we go to take a break,

Yeah, and won't come back because we won't to have a minute. Yeah, or about a minute. Actually, let's just you want to just go out, Yeah, let's go and let's take our break now, and you can give us a call it give us about five minutes and call back stick around five two zero four and six seventy four to forty. So as we as we were going out, we were talking about win totals in Arizona's win total, and I'm looking at the schedule and looking at the games that they pick, and the the this is from MSN dot com. They've got Arizona losing four road games. You look at the four road games and you go, okay, yeah, I can't I can't argue with those at Kansas State, at Utah, at Central Florida and at TCU. That Central Florida

game. I think they're going across the country. It's gonna be in November. Uh, you know, depending on what time that game is. That's a tough that's a tough place for Arizona to go at that time. Uh, you know, to go play a game you know, three times essentially three time zones away because we're actually in the Pacific times though, but no, by that time we were back on their back off daylight saving times.

It's a two hour difference. But nonetheless, you know, going to the East Coast for a game is going to be hard every year that they have to do it. So now West Virginia they have to come here, so you know that it's gonna be hard on them. But you know, the only road game they've got Arizona winning is at BYU, and that's gonna be a hard game to win. It just is, and it's gonna be a hard game for for Arizona to win, you know. Ever, so I

don't know. Yeah, well we'll see what happens as when you get closer to the to the games. I do think that there's a lot of optimism with the guys he's getting. Yeah, the guys he has, it's gonna be a great, a very good offense. Okay, let's take this. Okay, Hi, you're on the air and eye on the ball. Hey it's Richard. How you guys are doing today? What's up? Richard? How's it going? Hey? That did I hear you correct to say that Arizona was a nine point dog versus Kansas State? Yes, they are.

Well, I'm definitely getting ready to put some money on Arizona in that game. I think Arizona's gonna win that game. You think, so okay, you know, oh yeah, come on, now, Kansas State has got a new quarterback and they're gonna be real jacked up around the guy. He's real good. But it doesn't matter. Arizona's got the best quarterback and a veteran offensive line, veteran defense. They've just come off the Oklahoma win. Arizona's coming in under the radar right now, So I think this is a

really good bet. All right, Well, look, I think Jay just will get on King. No, I'm just I'm just I saw that. I saw that. I saw that line. Uh you mentioned there was a there was a there was a column about like the top twenty under the radar games that people aren't really talking about, with that one being with that with the Kansas State Arizona game being one of them, and and it had the line at the Kansas State minus nine. So I'm looking to see if that,

in fact is the number. I'm looking on DraftKings to see if you can actually bet that right now, that's ridiculous, and come on, Arizona is going to be all fired up and focused on the road. Those four Kansas State fans are going to be in for a little surprise, I think. Well, I also, you know, I do. Yeah, it's a long way to go. Guys. Why in the world is Mom Soon doing here in June? Okay, I see it and I found it now on DraftKings. It's on DraftKings. Remember it's a Friday night game. Uh

and they've got it at uh Kansas State minus seven and a half. Okay, drafting quickly, Yeah, so many DraftKings heard the show and the light just drive Well anyway, I don't think Arizona can win that game. What do you think? What do you think about the eight wins? The eight wins over under for Arizona? I'd say over yeah, okay, oh yeah sure Richard. All this time I thought you're this pragmatic guy that said all the time, No, actually I agree with you. I agree with you.

It's going to be eight or over eight or over right now? What do you think about the Sooners down in the SEC? How many games do you think they don't win? Do you think they can make the playoffs? Playoffs? The bad mood moved for Oklahoma to go to the SEC. Well,

I thought I thought it was a bad move for Oklahoma. I kind of put them similar to to U. C. L A. They got dragged to the SEC by Texas, and so, you know, I don't think they I don't think they're Well, it's gonna be interesting to see if their heart is really in it, because you know, I imagine they would have rather have stayed, you know, in the Big Twelve where they were. I mean, it was stupid, I think, but we'll see. I mean, I'm not excited about joining the SEC. I can go.

I'm not excited. Are you guys excited about joining the Big twelve? Yeah? I am only in the only only only in the context to me, Richard, only in the context of if the PAC twelve was gonna die, which it did, then I'm happy with where they ended up. I'd rather the PAC twelve didn't die. Richard, Richard, I never get excited. Let me get excited, Richard. You don't, you know, don't more than the Mexico blood. You're not excited. You're very skeptical about don't.

Don't rain on my parade, man, I really like it. Thank you, Thank you, know, I think we have to qualify about, you know, the whole idea of being excited about Arizona being in the PAC twelve. I'd rather they not be there the big pub. I'd rather they not be there. I'd rather they be in the Packed one. Sure, given the choice, but given given the choice of you know, once the PAC

twelve was killed, Yeah, I'm excited about where we are. And again I've you know, said before, because I think Arizona can be very competitive in this league, more competitive than on a regular basis than they were in the Packed once. The newness and the new newness is part of the charm because we don't know what to expect. It's gonna be cool, a lot of fun. And then once they get established that you're gonna say, hey, you know what, it may have turned out okay, especially in football

in basketball, it's gonna be fun, it's gonna be competitive. Itzone was gonna get their butts knocked around in basketball, but it's gonna make them tougher and they could be better when it matters. Don't you agree? I agree? I agree, Steve. I think I think baseball, I don't know. The other sports, I don't know softball baseball I think is kind of a wash. Basically softball, same softball, same Yeah. But I think that, you know, and a lot of a lot of this has to

do with the fact that you know, Oklahoma and Texas are gone. They're they're not in that league anymore. So if the league kind of becomes wide open, I mean, I think I believe Utah is going to be the favorite to win the league, you know, to win the Big Twelve and football, whether Arizona, I think Arizona will probably be the third or fourth

pick to win. In basketball. I think part of that is going to be some bias on the part of the Big Twelve media who they're going to kind of go with what's familiar to that, right, you know, part of it's gonna be the schedule too, you know, who plays who? Because right, with more teams, there's fewer teams that you play twice. Yeah, so you know, is there Zone gonna play Kansas twice or not? Is there zonly gonna play Baylor twice or not? Is There Zone gonna

play Texas Tech and Houston twice or not? Those things are gonna matter in terms of you know, where you you're actually gonna have to look at the schedule to decide what place where you're gonna predict teams to finish. Because let's say Kansas doesn't have to play Arizona two times, doesn't have to play Baylor two times, doesn't have to play Houston two times. Well, then if they're you know who they have to play two times and can they lose those

games? So all that all that's gonna matter when it comes to basketball. It's gonna be fun, I think if you don't have tickets to try again. Yeah, but uh, yeah, it's I'm mad at myself, Steve, because remember while back we talked about the over under total on Arizona. It was seven and a half and I didn't bet it. Yeah, it's a push of at set eight, right, it's a push, Yeah, I think I would go over just say you say, yeah, well,

everyone has to stay healthy of course, of course. Yeah, and right now Mac is not right and the no one needs to stay healthy for sure. Uh, and then we'll see what happens. You know. Health of the team obviously needs yeah, to be fun and that that goes with anybody, any team. I like. I like that. I'm looking at the DraftKings page in Washington is right above Arizona on the list, and they're over under six and a half. I like that. Yeah, go under.

There's a bet you can make on DraftKings. I think who's gonna have more wins Arizona or Washington something like that, or it's probably Arizona's probably like probably minus one and a half or something like that. I would go with Arizona. Woul't you? Oh, here we go match ups? Okay, look, I'll look that up. There might be some interesting ones here. You're on Draft Kings senor Henry not really, not really, that's a good Okay, here it is Arizona is minus two forty five to have more wins than

that's not a good number. I don't like that number. Yeah, they're minus or their plus one oh five to have more wins than Kansas. So that's an interesting that's yeah, that's I think they're picked to finished both of with eight but two forty five minus two forty five Washington, So Washington, that's not a good number. So you have to be that's not a good number. Let's see there's another one. No, those are the only two that you can bet those matchups I I wish you could buy I wish you

could buy that. You know that spread a little bit right where you can say, okay, Arizona minus one and a half to get to more of an even even odds. That's a kind of thing that that would be more fun. Okay, here here, okay, here's one on the exact wins. Let's see if if Arizona's on this page the exact number of wins. I don't see that. Okay, well you're doing that. I'm gonna look something that I took a photo of today, just that thought it was interesting

on your Twitter thing. Uh, and this is the best college programs developing NBA players given today's draft. Saw that best college and what did you think? Well, I saw I just saw that Arizona was like fifth or something like that. They're not on my list. This was John Canton. The best college programs are developing NBA players, according to Fox Sports and research in

Arizona's not on the list. No, let me give you this list, us LA, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Gonzaga, Villanova, USC, Michigan, Arkansas makes no sense because Arizona's got like as as like third or fourth in number of NBA players no sense. You know a number of players in the league, aren't they I don't know about those numbers, but it does doesn't talk about developing. Developing is exactly the key. Kentucky Calipari. He he didn't develop them, He didn't develop them. They just came in

and left. They came in, they had somewhere, they needed somewhere to go to spend on the year and then go. They were already NBA ready if they were good enough. This this thing, I'm thinking, I gotta take this because it makes no sense. U c l A who they had your your guy and that was about it. Well, how far back are they going? Well, apparently a long time, because it's it's not right

if they go back a really long time. Arizona deserves to be on that list because Arizona, if anything was under Loot was a factory for NBA because they we even talked to Uh was it Sean? I can't remember that. If there's one thing about Arizona and Loot, he got him ready for the NBA. Look Tobert Is Tolbert Judd Buschler. These guys ready for the were they NBA guys? He got him ready for the NBA. Come on,

Channing Fry, Yeah he was he developed into an NBA. Yeah, I mean he wasn't even a great college exactly right, so he knew what to do and he started here. They weren't They just didn't show up here, play and then leave. They got better here. You know. It wasn't like and doesn't it and doesn't Arizona have like the third or fourth most players with a championship and stuff like that? Let me thank Steve Kerry. Well, yeah, but it's nonetheless. Yeah, I don't know, I don't

know the number that, but it sounds right. It sounds right. But this list to me, I said, holy crap, this makes no sense. And who put that list out? I had it just now hold on, it was according to to Fox Sports research John Fantom put it. What do you guess he was just retweeting this? What do you guys think? And I think it's a bunch of crap. Gonzagat really maybe in the last

few years, but not over time. Yeah, it'd be interesting to know what that criteria is because it doesn't sound to it doesn't sound sound this is this is exactly what we talk about when we get these lists who's doing it and what what basement are doing it? From right and right? And you know it's obviously things like that are pretty subjective, so so who knows. But I if you say, all he's at the top of that list. I mean again, my question becomes, how far back are you going?

Are you going back to the Van Holland days when you know, when Kevin Love and uh and uh the dude, yeah, the guard uh Werook Westbrog, Yeah, Russell Westbrook and those guys were coming out of the coming into the league. In fact, his photos on that on that this thing, this Twitter thing. Yeah, but that's twenty almost twenty years ago now, twenty years ago now, but still Arizona in that in that twenty years,

it had to be one of the top top program. Yeah. Well during Gordon, there's some other ones, you know, including the ones that we didn't think even should be drafted. Who get who got drafted and played? I still do. I still can't believe Josh Green is in the league. I really can't. And again and he didn't develop here Mark right Marek credit to him that he has developed and he's a solid player, you know with

the Mavericks, you know, Zeke Naji. I mean those guys, I mean they were good, but they didn't look like NBA guys to me while they were here. So but again we didn't see him for very long. And and then because you know what he played in the style that that's not what they play, right Sean did there there is that and Nico could have very well been one of those guys, but he was stifled in my opinion, Yeah, yeah, no, yeah no, So yeah, it's a

it's it's weird. But I mean there have been some guys that have gone that you thought, there's no way that that kid's gonna stick. And he Aaron Gordon, right, I mean, guy couldn't make a free throw. Uh, you know, he could jump out of the building, grab a lot of rebounds, you know, and look at him. Now, well you just described Johnson Keisha, Yeah you got jump out of the building, can hit some shots, not that great of a shooter, but his athletic

as all heck, and can play. Yeah Johnson, you see a guy like you go, okay, I can do that. So we'll see, we'll see. The whole thing is TJ McConnell. Come on, who would have thought that? And he's getting contract. Man, I want to take this ball, or yeah, let's do it real quick and real quick, real quick. Hi, you're on the air and on the ball. You've only had about thirty seconds. That figures it's jim. Oh, hey, Jim, you got to make it quick or later? Do we still have

number twenty running the football? Number twenty? What do you mean? Uh? I don't know who that is? Who that was running back for Arizona. Yeah, Coleman was that. No, Coleman was was he? He was in twenty he was like three. Yeah, he's gone to Washington. We talked about it. He's gone to Washington. He got huge, he was huge. Yeah, you got speedy. Look back and then a bunch of you guys. Okay, So I think the football team is going to

do better than we think. And I think the basketball team is going to get knocked around, all right, that's fair. Yeah, and I do well. The basketball team is gonna get knocked rout because they're in a better league for sure. Now now I think they're going to get I think they're gonna get there. Butts handed to him a few times. It's based on physicality, yeah, but in the end it's gonna matter. What's gonna matter is how do they do in the n C Double A Tournament. And maybe

this league gets them more ready for the n C Double A Tournament. Who knows. Yeah, all right, Jim, we gotta gotta hit the road. Appreciate it. Yeah, No, Arizona is. Yeah, fans better get ready to see Arizona get blooded more often than than they have in the past. All right, let's take our break. When we come back, Uh, Henry, Henry's gonna be hear the breaking news. Then we're gonna have Scott Thompson, former coach at Arizona, under Ludles and stick around
