Streaming live. I mean iHeartRadio WIP. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rovera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteenth fifthday. Hey, welcome back to our the ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen on Steve, he's Jay and I think Jame's gonna do some breaking news now. I've I've got to train Alien on this. You've got the breaking news there. Alien, turn on the mic right there where the music is, put it all the way up and he hit it. This is on the Ball breaking news. All
right, we do have breaking news. Hey, big ruling, big big news on the NCAA transfer thing two years something. Well, no, what's what happened is, judges issued a fourteen day temporary restraining order that prohibits the NCUBA from enforcing its transfer rules, meaning if it's transfer waivers, meaning if you didn't get a waiver, if you tried to transfer and didn't get a
waiver, that would keep you from having to sit out. Those guys can play right now for fourteen days, and if they playlet it sort of affect mostly basketball, right so they can play if at the end of the fourteen days, the ruling is that the transfer rule stands, then if they've played,
that doesn't count at all against their eligibility. But the hope is that if he's you know, he's already you know, ruled against the NC double A on this, that he'll probably you know that that the temporary straining it will be made into a permanent injunction. So they're they're just basically saying, you know, NC double A is overstepping the legal rights of these kids by
saying you can't play if you transfer. Okay, I was gonna say, you sounded a lot like a Charlie Brown guy, Charlie dun injunctions and waivers what I you know what I I I just zeroed in on this for the last five minutes. I know the whole thing. You know, did a crash course on this, on this, on this way everything. But it's a big The bigger deal is that, at first glance, a judge is
saying you can't. This is this is you're violating these kids' rights by telling them that they can't go play somewhere else and play right away, which you know, in a sense even makes sense. Right. Nobody can tell you that you can't quit a job and go to another job. Sure, but they can tell you, well, I'm sure you've said non disclosure, right, but they're not having these kids signed you know, non compete or non
compete, right. You know, you get your scholarship, and you get your scholarship and and and maybe that's what happens is they say, Okay, if you want to play here, you got to sign this that says if you decide to leave, you're gonna sit out of here somewhere. But if some schools do it and some schools don't, right, because it's that's gonna go school by school. It's not gonna be a law. So maybe they do that, but for now it's uh, you know, the transfer rule
is headed down the tubes like all the other things. The bottom line, Seam, I think is that you know, students, these athletes are starting to be looked at as employees of these universities because they're bringing in a little
money. Sure, well, didn't we talk about this a while back, just recently that now you're looking into the schools paying the kids, right, which then, of course that would change it because they would be employees, right, will take right, And that's what you know, and that's what you know. The new president of the NCAA propost throughout there and SA, okay, we're headed down this road anyway, So let's just have the schools do this, and let's not you know, have the schools paying, you
know, under this strange structure. So anyways, all right, the super Bowl for twenty twenty seven has been awarded back in Los Angeles. So this year, twenty twenty four is in Vegas. Last year was in Phoenix, right, this year twenty twenty four is in Vegas, which it was fine. Again. I heard the cener with Charles Barkley. So Steve was talking about how for twenty four years or something like that, he's got a group of guys in twelve guys we go to Vegas every year for the super Bowl.
He said, I'm not going when the super Bowl is because there's nothing but a bunch of losers. He's probably right, It's probably right. I mean the crowd sure, not a bunch of winners. Yeah. Well, you know, I can't even imagine what Vegas will be like, oh during the super Bowl. Yeah well, I mean it's crazy when there's no game. There is there sure? No, I mean you've been there for n CUAA tournaments. Yeah, I was sent there in the first time in ninety
six. I think it was when the Super Bowls and Phoenix something like that. I can't remember. Well, they played it was in Phoenix, so they sent me to Vegas. I was coming back from Oregon on a trip, so I stopped in Vegas to cover the Super Bowl from there because it was a local angle for Vegas and that was cool. It was It was crazy, you know, because it's always crazy Vegas. Yeah, for Super Bowl. Okay, it's probably the Hi, you're on the air and I
on the ball. Hello. Hello, you're on the air. I'm on the air. Yes, all right, I appreciate that. I needed to ask you a question that my mind can't fathom. They've been talking about this football playoff scenario where they only have the four teams and there's a lot of disgruntled people, you know what I'm talking about. Okay, Well, they're talking about getting it down to six or twelve teams. Well, how does
the math work out for that? If you process of elimination, you're going to have to have somebody sit out a game unless you do with eighteen, right, that's yeah, go ahead, the twelve team playoff that starts next year. You're gonna have four first round byes, so four conference champions who are considered the highest rate. They're still good like this year's right, They're still going to do the rankings like they did to determine who are the four
teams in the you know, in the in the playoff. So the top four teams in the rankings will all get first round bys. So five will play twelve, six will play eleven, So everybody else plays a first round game and then those winners go play to somebody who got a first round by. I don't know why they didn't make it a you know, sixteen or sixteen team tournament, but they didn't. So it's twelve teams. Four teams get a first round by. Well, you know, look at what's going
to do to the schedule for these kids. I mean, I don't know, I'd like to see it in my mind. You guys tell me if you think differently, But do eight teams everybody plays once? Boom boom bum you get down to the last two teams and that's it. Yeah, well, I'm sure that was a consideration, and I wouldn't be surprised that they go from twelve to sixteen at some point. Yeah, they're not going to go back to eight. And your point of them caring about the kids,
they don't give a crap about the kids. This is bringing in tons of money, tons of money. Yeah, well, you know, maybe maybe did the up the park then the kid, And that's that's what's going on right now. That's what they're you know, the athletes are trying to get that, they're trying to get you know, a chunk of that. You're too realistic. You're too realistic. You make too much Sensele's bed trying to work out the map. I'm thinking, did something wrong with me? Yeah?
Yeah, you're making too much sense. That's the problem is so much doesn't make sense. Thank you for the college, Thank you appreciate it. But it's true. I mean, come on, what's twelve. It's like, when you're going to have three rounds of playoffs, why not have every sixteen? Right? Right? Yeah, of course. It's like they're thinking about moving the sixty eight teams to more teams? Right, Okay, when are we going to stop this? Yeah? It was good at sixty four?
Yeah, oh but we what about sixty five? Well, he didn't get in yeah, all right, you're talking about your trip back to to Vegas covering the Super Bowl. Yeah, so it was just, you know, it was like, you know, you think it was crazy people from all over having fun, blah blah blah. So that's kind of it, that's kind of it. But he's right, yeah, go there, it's
going to be crazy, it's gonna be nuts. You know. They talked about what it was like that first weekend that they when they did the NBA All Star Game there for the first time, Yeah, and that it was just nuts and not only nuts, but it was in a lot of ways dangerous. Oh. I'm sure there were some people running around over there, the shady side of the civilization. I'll give you this. I've been to a couple of them big boxing matches at TMGYM. Oh yeah, a big
one. So, I mean I didn't go to a Tyson one, but I went to De la Hoya some of those, and there were a couple of shootings. My brother was at one of those where you know, he was walking It was in the MGM arena and he was walking back into the hotel of fights and no shots to fire and everybody's ducking for cover. Yeah, Yeah, no, it's crazy. It's a crazy place. Yeah,
crazy place. Anyways, So Vegas in twenty twenty four, New Orleans in twenty twenty five, then back to the West coast two years in a row. You got Santa Claaric which is the forty nine ers. Change is twenty twenty six, then twenty twenty seven. Now back in Los Angeles. Really, three out of the next four Super Bowls are on our side of the country. It's funny. I didn't go to the ones here. That's one of the things I've never been to and I really have no desire to.
Yeah, this in a few months, we were gonna be in Phoenix for the final four. Yeah, so so that I just think that's a lot of people. I don't know. Did you you were on thee you were on the floor, but you were didn't see the game. I was at the game and I was in the media area and away from it. It was it was like really far, I don't know. And people at the
top top did you see the photo? Well, I told you, I you know, I walked, I you know, when I was there at the at the at the stadium, I went to the top because I wanted to see. I was the post. Look like you'll post the stamp. You can't see the game. You're gonna you know, you're gonna want, you're gonna in order to see what was on the court, you had to watch the screen. So you're in the building, but you're not watching. You can't see the ball, you know, going into the hole. And
that's seventy four thousand people. Yeah, yeah, I think that was. I think was it was. It was the seventy four. I think was six, the eight seventy four. It might have been. It might have been, but I remember looking up, I didn't see any empty seats. That's no, No, you're right, it wasn't. It wasn't. That's for sure. That was nuts. All right. See if I'll give you three guesses, three guesses as to what is currently the highest highest uh most
sold jersey over the last forty eight hours baseball baseball. Oh, it's nuts. That's not fanatics. Which who gets that money? Yo? He gets a chunk of it? Yeah, but who else gets Dodgers get some so that helps pay off whatever they need to pay them off with. Yeah, oh yeah that yeah, yeah, absolutely, I'm sure that's part of the country too. So Fanatics, which is sort of the the one the website where you know, you can go there and get any gear I've gotten.
You know, I've got an account with those guys. They know me personally. They said they broke It's set a record for high sales volume within the first forty eight hours of a jersey. And you Dodger over over, Messy, over, Christiano Ronaldo and everybody else, And you Dodger fans really like wearing uniforms. Well, you know, I don't. I've never worn jerseys, but I don't, and I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna get his eather Son. He does, he does, he will. His current jersey
is Mookie Betts jersey. He wears jerseys. I don't. But you see him everywhere. Oh yeah, you go to a Dodger game, Yeah, everybody's got him on. You know if if if I were to wear Dodger jersey, it would be a throwback to Fernando. I went in at the last time I was a Dodger statu last time I was a Dodger stadium. I went in and I found a Dodger jersey, an authentic Fernando jersey from nineteen eighty one, which was the year came on, you know, one
Rookie of the Year and stuff. It was four hundred dollars and like, I'm not wearing four hundred dollar. I don't wear anything other than suit that might cost four hundred dollars. And even then, I've only had a couple of them. Seen have you tried to get one? Lady O, you make your own pretty much? Get a jersey in this but Fernando in the back. Yeah, I did wear I did wear a forty nine Ers jersey to a game where I was with my my son and my sister were a
Candlestick park. It was the last year the candlestick was around. And my son said, you have to wear a jersey, and he had a He had a h Steve Young jersey that I wore to the game. That's the only time I can remember wearing an actual You didn't worry it in La you would have got your ass killer. I went to I went to a Raiders Patriots playoff game nineteen eighty five. It was here the Patriots got crushed by the by the Bears. Oh yeah, in the Super Bowl we saw the
Patriots beat the Raiders. I mean I wore like nothing black, nothing red or blue. I mean I was just as neutral away from the colors as you could possibly be because I didn't want either, and I did think I was one of them. Yeah, and that was the craziest thing because the Raiders lost. This is when they were at the coliseum in LA. They lost. Patriots fans were just I was surprised when I read the paper the
next game. Nobody died. Nobody, Nobody died at that game. Yeah, you just got to go watch and have fun, not to wear something because you see it all the time. Yeah, yeah, you do. You do. Just one a little quick thing. Now on the phone, we have Jayden Bradley from the U A basketball team. How are you, Jayden? Doing good about this? We're doing well. Thank you very much, thanks for joining us. I'd love to see and talk to you guys. Doing well. How has it been
for you? You're you're kind of a new here. How have you adjusted to Tucson and the U A. Yes, sir, you know love here and Tucson very welcome. You know, the fans, you know, the the culture, you know, just enjoying everything and you just want to learn and get better, and I feel like it's a great place to do that. Coming coming from Alabama, Tucson obviously a very different place. What what did Tommy Lloyd say to you about what it's like here and how much of
that you know? I mean, I'm guessing he was pretty straightforward with you. What you know, what do you has been what you expected as far as what Tommy described to you. Uh, you know, it's been what I expected and even more, you know, we're gonna get better learned. You know, he's been active for a head coach. He gets on the floor with you, he you know, work you out and he teach you the game. And that's what you want as a point guard. You want
somebody that's gonna hold you accountable. He kind of teach you the ropes and like he's a great job with not me, but you know, everybody helping us, you know, learn the game and get better. And I'm sure he told you it was going to be eighty degrees on December thirteenth, right, Yeah, I didn't expect this one. I didn't believe him. He said, what would it be right now? In Alabama? You probably be a little nippy over there. Yeah, it probably be might be a little
rain and I might have a little code on right now. Yeah, so this is great. Yeah, so you guys are off to an incredible start, number one in the country. You know, whatever, what expectations did you have as far as that goes? I mean, I think you guys knew you were going to be good, but you know what you've done maybe
a little off the charts. What what do you think? You know coming in, we know, we all that a little meeting and you know, we put down our goals for the season, and like, you know, one of our goals is definitely being number one, but you know that's that small, a small goal and our you know, our big our big techlist that we have and when I won the national championship and you know, just being number one, it puts a bigger target on our back. But you
know we're ready for that and we'll come in all everything. So you you left the system where it's running, gun, running and be fast. You come to this system. You must be really at home with this, Yes, sir, you know kind of the same. You know, similar play styles, fast play style. Well you know here just like you know, a lot more of a structure. We got you know, dominant big, dominant guards, dominant wings. We all just play on our road and trusting
each other. It's looking good out there. So so let's let's go back a little bit because you know you've better got on. The season started and had a couple of exhibition games, had one regular season, and then you go to Duke, what what was going on with you guys getting ready for that game? Because you know, I mean, everybody thought, you know you're going to do It's gonna be hard to win. I think most of us thought, you know, I didn't expect you to win, but you
know that you guys will obviously be competitive. But do you know, was there anything that you can think about maybe that week of practice or going into that game that you thought, you know, we're gonna win this game because of X. Yeah, I would just say the main thing was, you know, just a coach is Coach Lloyd, you know, Coach Murph, you know, Coach Ricky, other guys just stealing that confidence in us and just you know, telling us that, you know, they rode us off
at the beginning of the season and think we were gonna be the top team, and then they were telling that we're better these guys and on paper, you know, they look they look great as well. But you know, coach is just stealing that confidence in us leading up to that game, and we believed it and we went out there and we showed it as well. So, so how is it playing for Tommy? And and I'll say this
because you know, he's been here three years. The media likes him here, a lot of people like him, and I like him because he's a straight shooter. He's he talks about uh, you know, telling him to kick their asses. You know, he talks like a normal dude. How is that? Yeah, he's a great coach on the court. Off the court, he's a you know, he's a basketball and you know he thinks the game. Yeah, on the court, and you know love the coach like that. You can pick his brain at the time. He's like he
said, it's like a normal guy. So we can We're not afraid to ask him questions. But you know, he takes our feedback, take his as well. So I feel like that makes him so great. We can you know, kind of relate he trusts him and understand what he's thinking. So so from where we said, you know, we see the four guards that play all the time. You Kyler Boswell, obviously Caleb Love and then uh and then kJ lewis to us, you guys look all look very similar.
But you guys are you know, you're on the court with these guys. What are some of the different qualities is that maybe you bring that those those guys. Then what are some of the other differences among the four of you, Because like I said, you guys look the same. You're you know saying all about the same height, the same body style, the whole bit. Almost to me, it's almost the same game. But there have
to be some differences. Yeah, for sure, four great guards we can have on there, don't matter like how he pays them, you know, Colin and kJ me, Kleb or however he puts this in. We kind of know the system and like like you said, we played similar, but we all have you know, our things that we're good at and we we play off each other. Like Colin, he's a great shooter, so you know, we looked the game m great shots. You know, he came
the others great shots. You know. Kleb he's just he has a knack for you know, scoring the ball, whether it's shooting into the basket. You know, Caj is a great athlete, great defender. You know, he's always making highlight plays. And you know I can bring a little bit of little defense, high high energy, get downhill, get my teammates in well, kind of do a little bit and just we all have have different
you know quality. So yeah, no question before you got here. I'm sure you did some research and all that, but you probably know the history of the point guard. You and this year it's like backcourt you so many good people. But what did you know before you got here? You know, the Mike Bibbies of the world, the Damon's and those guys. Honestly, I didn't know too much when I first got here. But you know, Coach Murphy he did a great job, right, You know, they
do a great job. But teaching us to history, teaching us the culture. Like you said, those great guards that come before us, you know, we got, you know, big shoes to feel and you know we respect those guys for kind of painting that path for us so we can have this opportunity, and you know we don't regret it. Well today's if I
could, today's kids and pardon this, but nothing phases you guys. You guys have seen it all, done it all, blah blah blah, and here comes Steve Curve into the building and we don't know who Steve Curry is, Right, how was that meeting him? Maybe listening to a speech or two? Yeah, you know you've curR. You know he's you know, he's a legend, came played at Owner and you know, play at the highest level and coaches at the highest level. All right, he'll go down
as one of the you know, best coaches in the NBA. And uh, just to hear what he has to say, and you know know that he's at the highest level and still supporting us. You know, we all respect that, and you know you want to be where he's been and what he's did. You know, we were all ears and all odds and listening and you know, hearing what he had to say. So, uh, you've already had some big games that you know that you guys have played it
that have gotten you to number one. You know, you'd beat Duke, could be Michigan State Wisconsin on top of the other teams. Now you got Purdue coming up a one versus three game. You know, I'm sure you don't there's nothing you got to do to get yourself up for that game. But what is it about games like that that are special for you guys as players? I feel like, you know, when you playing college basketball,
you want to you want to play the best of the best. You want to show your capability and you know why, you know, show your show your skill set and show the team skill set. So you know, p due, they were number one at one point during the season, and you know they want to prove by they should be number one, and we want to prove we should be number one. So it's gonna be a great battle
coming in. We know it's not going to be easy, a world game, So trusting each other, tusting the coaches, you know, we'll go out there energy well, no question, because you guys have to knowing that everyone's going to be after you guys being the number one team, and that's typically the history of the program. You go somewhere, other fans show up
because they want to beat you. How is that? Yeah, I mean that's what you know, that's where we get our know, our thrive, our thrill from like teams, we don't want to other teams to hand us and us anything going in, Like you said, being number one, got a target on our back. You know, we've got there, you know, going into this game, we know Purdue is going to go on a run. So we just gotta stick with it, stick with each other, you know, just plets each other. Okay, So I know you guys
don't like to talk about anything but the game that's ahead of you. But you got you got Alabama next week. Have you thought at all what that's gonna be like for you? Are You're just gonna wait until after the Purdue game and feel free to tell us that you've been thinking about it. Yea, Honestly, you know, I try to try not to think about what's ahead of me. I want to, you know, give all my energy, all my attention to know what's coming up in front of us. But
now that's that's been in the back of my mind. And after we get this play on the road, we'll stop preparing for that. And uh, you know, I definitely will win that game. So yeah, yeah, no question. I think I'll talked to you a little about Tucsons. Have you been able to get out, maybe have a favorite restaurant and just kind of enjoyed the city? I know, you guys are busy with with work
and with school in basketball, but have you found a spot? I have a spot, but you know, my teammates and the coaches, we've been to some uh they put me on some famous you know who's out here and I tried to I think it's called the Sonor And do you know that's you know, I get that quiet office, so you know, I can say I'm a fan of the fan of those. Oh that's good, that's good. You're kind of almost a two soon in now exactly. And then if you saw Steve and I, you know, we've been fans of those for
for a while now, so we've been we've been running around. Just tell us a little bit about you know beyond you know what what's going on on the basketball court again, your experience here in Tucson, living here, weather, those kinds of things that we talked a little bit about that. But you know, how have you adjusted to the place. What do you kind of what do you like about the place? M what I like about it? You know, off the court wise, you know, the weather is
always good, that's a plus. You know, the atmosphere, you know, everybody is very welcome and very polite kind on the court. Wise, the coaches are they trusting, trusting us, believe in us and our development. That's big. You don't get a lot of head coaches that are hands on and want you to want you to develop. I think that's probably the biggest part. I just like you know, how this culture and atmosphere is.
I think the philosophy of the offense that he has. You know, it's it's a run, run and then find the ball, will find the open man. Just your philosophy in finding and you and playing that type of offense. You know, you can come in for you know, twelve fifteen minutes and still have a chance to touch the ball, maybe shoot the ball. Yes there, Yeah, that's kind of a big thing too. We're not I don't think we have any selfish players on our team. You know,
he watches play every possession. I think everybody touched the ball at least once. You multiple ball screen actions, high low actions. So very unselfished and you know organized too, even though we're running fast, you know, chaotic, but you know we got a great system. Sorry about that. Confort Mic. One of the things that I got talked about at the end of last year when they lost the president was that Arizona had to really step up its toughness. You got you got a guy like you know, Key
Shott who brings that level. I'm sure you know you see it in Caleb, you see it in catcha yourself. You know, you're from a program that you know, Alabama that historically, you know, a team that plays physically in a conference that's very physical. Has there been a no, you know, you probably I'm sure you didn't know what it was like last year with Arizona, But have you noticed that you consider yourselves a very physical team that can you know, take on that type that type of approach for that
attitude. Yeah, Like you know, that was kind of our biggest thing before the season even started, just you know, physical physical. We wanted to get tougher, you know, and I kind of see what you see that on the court now. You see our guards, you know, fighting through ball screens. You see our big battling down low, you know, guys diving on loose balls like you said, like te Sean Aja, you know, uh, our a big part of that. That's that's how we've
been focusing on and want to keep developing. As we can see you to play right, right, So when you get in the game, what's your first thing, your first thought of having to boost the team or what's your
role in your mind? First of all, you know, just looking on sitting on the bench and you know, observing the game and seeing how the defense, our guarden certain reads and you know how they're guarding certain things, and when I get in there, knowing that adjustment that I have to make, and you know, kind of just bringing that spark energy off the bench, you know, pushing the pace a little bit, getting a little faster, you know, getting more stops, doing anything I need need to do
to kind of give my team that spark. Right Well, they're going to need your spot and everybody else's park Saturday. So good luck to you, Jayden, thanks for joining us. Yes, sir, thanks for having me. com. Steve Bravera and Jacin Salis they have their Eye on the ball. On Tucson Sports station CHET Fox Sports fourteen to fifteen. Hey, welcome back to my I'm monking on Fox Sport fourteen fifty on Steve, He's Jay. You got e with us today. So I have a quick question. There's no bad answer to your jobs, not on the line. Okay, what's old to you? You're like twenty? What are you? Oh? So, what's old to you? No, No, that's not give me. We want a number. I think like seventy. Really, yeah, you're
looking at you, So I asked for a reason. We talk about this every now and in age. What's old to you? Jay? Me? Sixty three four? Early sixties. So five years ago I saw Rick Springfield. He was at the casino with a bunch of brother and now introducing Rix Byfield. He's sixty nine years old. He's sixty What the hell I saw a seventy four and he's coming back to Tucson. The Mark. I saw a video of Frankie Belly singing the other day and he's like eighty something and
you look eighty something. Okay. I mean, I'm, you know, props to him for having the energy sure to do that, because performing is hard. It's hard damn work. You ever say, you know, if you've been up close to watch a performer, it's hard damn work. And and you know to be that old and continue to you know, you look at Mick Jagger, you know, I saw a big of Mick Jagger doing
a he did a song with with Taylor Swift on her tour. Mick Jagger's I think mid to late seventies and he's still out there jumping around and you know, and the whole bit. And so yeah, those guys are old seventy four. I mean, come on, I was in high school and I remember hearing his music in high school. I'm thinking, okay, well, certainly anybody older than me is old those sixty five day but I think
there's people, but there's but that's who we grew up listening to. At least I did older old you know a mile time favorite you know music artists, Philip Baylor. Okay, Okay, guy, he can still bring it. But that guy's older than Dirk, you know, he's much older than me. Yeah, yeah, I'm in country, not last year. I saw him in country a couple of years ago. Yeah, I saw him last year at the casino and and uh and he still brings it, and
and you go, how do you do that? You know? There are days I can barely get out of the out of the sack, you know, but I think because they do it every day. Yeah, their limber, well, yeah, their life has been that. So they're whatever shape they're in, it's been, it's a pretty good shape. Yeah. Well, here we got a call, probably an old comment to take this call. You're on the air and I on the ball. This is Nico. Nico. Have we asked you? How old is old? Like my dad's
age. He's about what fifties? Like, who was your dad? Mike? What's your what's your dad? He graduated in seventy seven. Yes, I don't know how that makes them sixty three or sixty four? All right, hey man, but see, I'm losing some respect for you. Now. You had some you had something to say. I had some left. When did you have any left? Yesterday? Out you had a mullet. Yeah, yeah, and then you just went and saw Rick Springfield five years ago. Did I have a lady with me? Of course? Ideas about
Nico? I thought you would respect that. What were you singing jessel in Stevie's girl, dude, Nico? Nico? He lost lost respect. I didn't know I had any That's what I didn't think you had any left with Nico. So thanks Nico. I have to rebuild that, all right, all right, I'll give you guys credit. Man, you guys had two good interviews. All right, oh today, Yeah, appreciate that. Hey, did you listen yesterday with with h Francona? Was great? Yeah?
That was good too. Man, Well, what was springing it for you? Nico? It's not because of you. You motivate us. Oh wait, wait, did you hear one of the earlier callers like you. It was Howard Crazy Howard? Uh he said, well only you you two drink. I don't think you drink. You probably just do other things I drink. Nico is an all around player. When they recruit you, Nico, they call you athlete because you could just play all the He's a three tool.
He's a three Tooler. All right, thanks, that'll go with my lung, my nose too much. One one one. What are you calling about, Nico? Oh he started to worry about me those in respect. Okay, just saw this come across, so uh, Justin Spears retweeted Romo Dunes, the Washington Wide Receiver all Americans declaring no, no, no, confirmed today that he broke a rib and punctured along recovering that on site kick at the end of the Arizona game. Spent the night here in the hospital
and then he had to be driven back to Seattle. Well because you couldn't get on the plane because he punctured law and then he played through that because I don't think he missed any games. No, because you had to play in the Oregon game, Yeah, a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, yeah, interesting right, interesting. No, No, I'm debating whether I should get Rock Springfield tickets. Holy money, I'm going to be judged, you know, Uh, Steve, go ahead. I mean, Rick Springfield
was one of the guys during our time. Yeah, you know, he was one of the guys. And you know he's had a couple of songs, and you know, saw him a general hospital and all that kind of stuff. I don't think you should be a shamed of going over the man Nicos shaming me. Hey man, I went to the Backstreet Boys if my kid, yeah, well that's father of the year. Voting for father of
the year. Went to the Backstreet Boys up and went drove to Phoenix to go to the Backstreet Boys, which the nuts, well like ten years ago, twelve years ago they were, they were the young Backstreet Boys. I mean I probably probably twenty years ago. Oh yeah, so like early two thousand. Yeah, probably it's probably twenty years ago because my kids were little and that that's the only concert like that that I've ever been to where you
know, it was all kids and they screamed the whole time. And you know, I had seats kind of to the if you're looking at the stage, I had to the left and not too far, but I was up on the side in the seats. And I was just stunned at how people or kids could just scream through a concert and enjoy the concert. Honestly, I think the Taylor Swift they I remember reading about it said they made like a small earthquake with so many people there. Yeah, a small earthquake.
Happened somehow. That was just Travis Kelsey. But you know it was because the concerts I ever went to, they weren't ever the you know, the Taylor Swift Stadium concerts. Well, I guess I went. I saw you two at at the Cardinals Stadium, so that was pretty big. But that was like the you know, most of my concert were things I saw at the Tucson Arena or or one of the casinos. Well, earth went on Fire, you know a bunch of times. Yeah, so that's they put
on great shows. The best one of them that I saw. And it was the first time that they started because remember the way too much detail, but Maurice White got MS and their lead singer and the founder. So they
didn't tour for quite a while. And then around nineteen ninety five they started touring again and they came and played in Phoenix at the at the Music Hall of the Phoenix and Business Center. We went to that and that was the best Earth Wind and Fire because they were still pretty I mean that was thirty years ago and uh, and they were great. And I've gone to pretty much every time they come to town, I go see them. I've seen them a bunch but saw great Stevie Nicks concert up in Phoenix, which was
awesome. Saw Boss Skags here a couple of times, which was awesome. But you know, stuff like that my generation. What Garth Brooks here at Michale back when you started. Him and Faith Hill were coming together back in the day ninety five ish. Uh, sorry to say, Nico, I'm going to disappoint you again, but Pitt Pull to me is fantastic. And the dancers don't forget the dancers. Yeah, so Pitt Pull the dancers that
stuff foreigner back in the day, you know, bad company. Yeah, that's probably because buddy, a buddy of mine, wanted to I'm like, okay, I'll go. Saw Bob Dylan at at at the Casino. Still don't know what he said, but I saw him no idea. Yeah, you know people talk and talk about that. That's exactly it. I mean, I didn't understand the single word he said. Yeah, yeah, I
can. You know. George Benson was a good When I saw George Benson with with Natalie Cole, which was a very cool concert after the Casino, New World. George Benson was one of my dudes in the mid in the in the in the mid we both having lost lost respect for you know, whatever he comes with mere stereo. All right, I'll give it up. Nico's okay. You think Nicole's gonna hate what you saw? Verry Manilow, Oh oh yeah, Copa, I thought, very very Manilow in the round
at at McHale. Saw really Kenny Rogers and Crystal Gale at the in the round at Michale, and Crystal Gale captured that. Of course he was awesome. Stevie Wonder saw Stevie Wonder at Michale his last concert in Arizona nineteen eighty something. This was in the late eighties. Stevie Wonder came here eight really yeah. My wife and I went, yeah. He came and played a kale. And it was when it was when Zone was trying to get Martin
Luther king Day. Oh I remember Bruce Babbitt had declared Martin Luther king Day. Then that butt head that got impeached, that got uh got what was his name, but got elect the governor that got impeached because he was just a crook, and he he removed the governor's order, and that it was rumored that that was going to happen. And Stevie Wonder said, if you he told the crowd, if you let them take away the MLK day, I will never set foot in Arizona again, And they did and he hasn't.
He's never played another concert in Arizona. So our boys picture a Tower of Power, Tower of Power. I saw Tower of Power with War. That was my first concert I ever went to. But years seventy, seventy five, seventy six, I was a junior in high school. Tower of Power would come here all the time. They were great. Did you see you two? I saw them too. Those I was kind of far from
the stage zone for you two. Oh you too. We were. They were playing at one end of the stadium Cardinal statem and we were at the other. Yeah, it's it's tough for you too, but you know we heard the music and it was good if it was there. Huey Lewis and the news. Now you're losing him, Michale A great concert of the benefit country. They used to talk about this is for Sierra Tucson a drug rehab and who therapy plays Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor didn't go star. Yeah,
they think because all of those guys that spend time at Syre. I played with a poker with some older dudes like that they talk about James said, all those guys, yeah, because it's in their wheelhouse. Yeah, you know, sixties nine seventy year old guys and yeah, yeah, And that was a cool concert. That was the only time I got to see Jimmy Buffett. But no, I take it back. He played a hat Corbett Field once and I went to that. So there we go. We've been
down memory lane on our concert. I've never been to a concert myself before, not one, not one. Aleen. We need to get you out many. We're gonna take you under our wing. We're gonna get you. We're gonna take you. We're gonna take you to a what the hell is his name? The guy the Nico called you about Springfield Rex Springfield concert. We can take your ex. You wouldn't know any You won't know any songs, though we have we have in terms of we talk about stuff and they
don't know what. Okay, here's the test. Do you know who Tina Turner is? I heard of her, but Laving Newton John you know? Okay? Who is Donna Summer? There's no way I don't know. Do you have a favorite artist you listen to music. I do listen to, but I don't listen to like the big main popular people. Okay, yeah, this this group called the Loving Caliber. It was a group and now it's just the one guy doing all the basic Okay, yeah, but they're
not really that popular. But I really do like the music. They say back home, the oldmeal, you gotta get you outside the house. I also like, uh oh, Selena, hold on, he's gonna have a hard right there. I'm gonna drop. My sister's always paid her music. I've got her music in my card, and that's whole time. That's whole time too, because she's in the nineties. Yeah, she was murdered in the nineties. In fact, that movie came on just the other day and
I watched it. Of course you did. Jennifer Lopez. Man, that was as hot as Jennifer Lopez made a show. They made a show. Yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah, she she turns up on my TikTok feed all the time. Okay, that's it. Well, this this show has gone to hell. It went it went to hell the hand. Yeah, but okay, cool, cool, Uh, we'll talk tomorrow. We have DONNYE. Salem on tomorrow, right, we'll have our picks right tomorrow. Yep, we'll have our picks because we're gonna be out on Friday.

Wait to go, man, nice pull before you did, j Yeah, so I didn't. I didn't
inspire you. I'm a little sad about that. Now you didn't really tell me that you didn't. All right, thanks for being here, everybody. We'll see you tomorrow, yo. Man. Man, besides Stibo, love is changing changing. I'm bringing in that, so sing it. Remember
