This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jakin Zalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen powered by Nova Insurance Services. Make sure your most prized possessions kat z R two side in iHeart Radio Station. Yety Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, He's jakins Owes in together today Wednesday, getting an inch and pushed into the game on Saturday. We are we're good weather, We're right.
There's the thing I saw said it could be as as low as ninety one. Yeah, anyway, that's fantastic. Doesn't feel like nine hundred and ten like it is probably today. Yeah, No, great, that's great. Uh, it should be fun. Well, you'll be outside, I'll be inside, so I'll enjoy it. Yep, yep, No, I'm looking forward to it. You know, we're we're getting ready for our first hailgate.
You know, we'll get there about three three thirty or so. Uh, hopefully we'll be on the lawn by by Richard Jefferson Jim instead of across the across the mall over by the tennis courts. But we're you know, we're gearing up. We're ready to go. Everybody's fired up. Yeah, okay, we'll see what happens. I think it'll be a different showing this year than it was two years ago. That's a that's a good analysis right there. Right, that's what they paid us, the big bucks. Yeah,
we paid them to allow us to do this exactly, exactly. Okay, a lot of stuff going on, a lot of stuff going on. Uh, well, we'll talk about it as we move on to the story about fun show. They didn't write him on the board over there, Okay, so we'll look back. But do you know we're talking to a high school coach, right, first year coach sport right football, Uh sean a lot of from from Marana. They won their first game last week right to zero zero. That's what I saw in the scores in the scores on TV.
I guess he's also the women, the girls wrestling coach. So we'll talk to him about that too. Got some experience coaching girls, which again, it's it's different. We'll say that. I'll just say that I'm not gonna take any bones about it. It is. It is different. You say, don't question it is. It's different, and there's nothing wrong with it being different. It's just different because you know, girls are different from guys, especially in high school. But Sean Lotta, he's the he's a
flag football coach at Miranna. So he'll be on a three fifteen and then we're gonna talk to NAU football with Eric Newman, the sports setter from the airs on the Daily Sun. See what he's got to say about the uh,
the Lumberjacks and UH and what we can expect this week. I know we talked to him a couple of years ago when you know, when they played him, and I know he would I recall he wasn't expecting to come down here and wind the neither was I. I didn't come on, Jay, the only people I don't even think any you thought that that was gonna happen. Yeah, come on, realistically, you're gonna play your butt off and you're gonna work your butt off and try hard. But really yeah,
and then they pulled it off exactly exactly. So uh, you know, I I don't again, don't expect that, but you know, we'll see and you know they would find out a little bit about their team, sure, sure. And the funny thing about it is okay, Arizona Winds. Let's say they win big what are they supposed to do? Win big wig? And what will we get from it? I don't know a lot. We'll see because the week after is when we kind of start to get out again. Only bad things can happen, right right? No, I mean
if I mean, if it's something unexpected, it's only bad. You know, if there's a little blows them out, then they should blow them out. It's like, sure enough late to your wedding, What the hell? What are you doing enough for? It's only downhill from there? Yeah, yeah, exactly, So you know, so I think that uh, you know, we'll just find out what he's got to you know, what he's
got to say about what we can expect right full. If it's anything but you know, kind of a blowout, I'm I'd be a little worried,
right really would Yeah? Okay, So, and then the week clearly obviously the big game with Mississippi State right road, you know again, you know, and I'm sure Jet Fish will you know what we're gonna have there's a press conference tomorrows we'll have h an opportunity to uh to talk to him about this but I'm sure he's you know, he's going to be more concerned about what they what his team does, not what any of you is doing. Sure, right, at the end of the day, he's gonna want to
know how did it go for us? And so you know that and and and that. That's why they played these games because of that. You know, they just give an opportunity to look at themselves. Uh. But when you lose a game like that like they did two years ago, it if it looks bad, it feels bad. And it was bad. Yeah, okay, okay, yeah, we'll see ye all right. What else is going on? Uh, there's just just a slew of things going on. Well, well, it's just real just waiting for all this to start.
You know, we're starting to see some some you know, little things. We've got some stuff, some breaking new stuff. Some of it's kind of fun, some of it's kind of funny, some of it's not so fun. You know, when you're talking about players who you know are gonna miss you know, an opener, that kind of stuff, it's you know, they're they're You're starting to get a lot of buzz for the games. You know, it starts tomorrow. You know, you got the Florida Utah game
tomorrow, issue ASU plays tomorrow. You know again as is playing Southern Utah. Most days you think they should win that game, right, But who knows what their mindset is? Yeah, and we talked about over analyzing or whatever. Either they're gonna play hard all year, which I think they will anyway, or you know, start to yeah, well again, we'll find out what the culture of the tea of the program is. If they're guys who are they're upset because they're not gonna be able to be in a bowl
game and so they just kind of mail it in all year long. Well then that's a problem. Well let me ask you when did it. Arizona basketball announced that they were gonna sit out that in one year. It was a two thousan twenty twenty. Remember when they set out it was it was COVID, that COVID time that twenty the COVID year they could have gone to the tournament. It was the next year, So that is okay, the next year? Okay, who was the coach? Set Miller was the last
one? Was last year? Was it last year? Remember they twenty twenty was COVID, right, Yes, So that wasn't the they were not gonna go because remember there, I think that was the year when they said that was it because they beat Washington. They beat Washington and in that first round and then there was no more games because that was later in the year. I think it was later in the year, not at the beginning of the year. Man, you know all this run's yeah, uh no, because
I don't. I mean, what I recall is that there was a lot of discussion that aff Arizona had beat Washington, that they were gonna be able to get in that tournament. I have a hard time believing that because they had just lost to Washington the week before at home. Well that well, yeah, at home they were they were a marginal team at best to get
in that tournament. Uh In all honesty, watch, if you go back to that year, they were marginally They lost the Washington at home, they beat Washington at the pac Clow Tournament, and people were still giving them a hope though. Okay, really I don't believe that. Let's see, you're looking through the schedule, Yeah, I'm looking. I'm yeah, twenty twenty one, the twenty twenty twenty twenty one season. Okay, that was the self imposed What did they tell My point is, what did they tell them?
This they had before the season. Okay, so what how did they do? They was seventeen to nine? Yeah, okay, So do you think that affected them? I don't think so. I don't think so. That as good as that team was going to be. Well, that was the year. Wasn't that the year? That was the year he was fired? Obviously? Right? That was your he got fired. Sold during that
year, we saw a lot of weird stuff. Well, first of all, in my observations with Sean and I put this on my column at the end, at the end, he had become less shan like and more more embracing, whatever that means for him. But he was more palatable, if that makes epesi uh, you know, kinder to people, kind of to the media, more forgiving or whatever. But and then and then he got
fired, So they told him earlier. I think, well, let me let me look up, but I believe I believe it was it was before all of that, before the season, and that was that was our famous they kicked our assest thing. That was that was the year. That was the year that all this happened. Yes, yeah, well they got they they got that they So it was announced. It looks like it was announced
in December of twenty twenty two. Yeah, of twenty twenty two. No, it could have been that you just said twenty one twenty so that year maybe a month into the season, December twenty nine, so right before the conference season was going to start. I don't I don't recall anything that was kind of like they're not gonna they're gonna give up or otherwise he just wasn't
a very good team. Yeah, Now, it's just that was his last year, right, and there was some discussion that that team I probably wasn't gonna go to the tournament anyway, right, right, remember that like the situation, right, so why not do it now? And eventually there was no really severe severe ramifications from the the whole right thing, right, You don't know again, you know what I was saying, You know, it's culture, right if face you if the culture is that guys are gonna give
it up, well then that's it. You don't want you know, that's a culture you don't want to have. You know, it's Kenny Dillingham. It's his first year, incredible disappointment because they you know, just just got thrown on them a few days before they're opener. If Kenny Dillingham has already created a culture where guys are gonna fight back, where every game is going to be a bowl game to them, then that's what you want to see. But even more so a reason to defend their coach. He's first year
guy. Yeah, you don't want to lay an egg for the guy because he's gonna start his career. And again it's a matter I mean, you know, uh, certainly they have to be pissed at the administration for doing so. Let me ask you this. Let's compare apples to apples. If it is the case a issues has their situation right now, Jed comes in under his situation. Who has it worse? Who has it? Who has it or had it worse? We don't know yet. We don't know yet. You know why, because we don't know how bad a su is.
It looks like he's turned over the whole roster. I mean, I think they've had the second most transfers and stuff to Colorado. Well, he turned over the roster feeding Arizona had no roster wow to turn over. This is true. I don't know that we know that. Let's say they go loose to Southern Utah. Well, okay, now we say this is as bad or worse than what Fish got. But you know, they go handle Southern Utah, they win a couple of games. You know, they got to
go play Oklahoma State in the second week. You know, they get routed. Then you think, okay, this is really bad. Well this is not gonna be good. Yeah, because really bad, it's gonna be really bad. You know what's gonna be He's he's he's like Fish. He came in in a bad time. And I say that compared because someone left him with nada. It was well, you know, all you had to look
at was the quarterback situation. Yeah, and you know and Jed winn and got the uh Jordan McLeod from from South and Cruise, Yeah, and and he got and gun and Cruise came in from Washington State. But they were available because they weren't very good, right, they were because he were available. Yeah. I still believe that if people leave and they're good, people leave a place them they're good, that school doesn't want them to go right, right, if you if you if you have somebody who's good and they
want to go. You're doing everything in your power to keep them right. Yeah. So, uh so, I don't know, you may be seen. It remains to be seen. What uh you know what we'll we'll find out about you pretty early on. I mean, if you know, let's say they handle uh they handle you tout s eate and win a you know, thirty four to ten game or thirty four to twenty. You go, okay, you know, I get it. They're disappointed. You know, maybe they should have been by more. Maybe so then you touch pretty good.
But they if they go get waxed by Oklahoma State, you know, you think they get fired up for Oklahoma State if if you think that, if if the team is the type of team to fight back. We got a call just just in time. Just say that. You know that they'll fight back. Hey you're on You're on the R and I on the ball. Hey, how's it going today? What's up? Brian? Well, I just listening, like you said about a SU and you and I think
one thing is completely different. Besides us having no talent at all, at least a SU has some talent coming back about one thing too, when when Jed Fish got here, this is right at the beginning of the transport portal, so nobody really knew what was going on, and not as many people transferred then as they do now, And there wasn't all that great talent sitting
out there in a transport portal like there is now. Not saying it's easier to build a program, but compared to what it was three years ago, it is. Yeah, Yeah, you're right. The tax reportal was kind of just sort of in its infancy, and the and the transfer portal wasn't kind to get where the two guys Ance mentioned, right, Yeah, yeah, you went and got a couple of guys that we're not to not be
very good. Well yeah, also too. I mean, like you said, there wasn't a whole lot of talent in the transport portal at that time, not until the next year when more things happened and people understood the nil more so so, Brian, Sorry, go ahead, we got a minute. We got a minute, and I know you called back at some other times. What do you think they're gonna do? We record wise for the season, six wins top are toping at six wins tops top six. I'm
but I think six wins. I'm right with you. I'm right with you. Okay, you know, I mean they still have to prove that they can be a consistent winner. And everybody says, well seven five and that Jake Fisher said eight nine wins whatever he was on drugs that day. But one thing, but one thing too, that people are gonna stand. We don't know what this defense is gonna be. I mean, we got a lot of new players, all because the offense I'm proved so greatly last year
doesn't mean the defense is going to do the same. Totally agree, totally agree. I'm hoping it does. I'm hoping it does. You'll have to wait and see. Okay, all right, Brian, Hey, thanks so much. We appreciate the college always. We're gonna goes, Brian, go to your own tickets or no. Uh, he's stopped by a few times. Okay, okay, well this go all right man, let's get tack out of you. Be back, Shan Latta. I guess a lot of flag football. Yeah, new sport, new sports, So we're talk.

Hey, welcome back to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen Cookie. I'm Steve Rivera glove side partner Jakin zas nonaphone. We have Sean Alta, the high school play football coach at Morna High School. How you doing, coach? I'm doing well. Thank you for having me. Yes, yes, great to
have you. How's this new venture you got going? One of two schools in this area doing enough flag football. Honestly, I'm excited. It's it's an awesome outlet for the girls too artake in football, and I'm excited that our district in Moranna is allowed us to be a part of this, and a lot of people have in Phoenix have been doing it. But I'm super excited. So I mean there have to be you know, I mean basically starting a new sport for these players. I just tell us about, you
know, how you get something like this started? Right? Where do you get you know, how do you attract players to come and play this sport? How do you get them obviously to understand the sport? Just how how do you start building this thing from the ground up the way you had to do it? You know? You just kind of trial by fire. We're working on it daily realistically. I worked with Sean Roebuck, who is an
assistant coach of mine. His daughter, Malaysia, plays for our team, and uh, between her and a handful of her friends who wanted to be a part of this, a lot of my girls on the wrestling team wanted to be a part of this, and so me and Sean kind of came together and started working with our ad Rob d Nueva, and we're just trying to get this going. Nice Nice, So what's the roster look like right
now? We're about twenty five and it's pretty strong, Like it's hard to try to get twenty five girls to play, uh you know, even in wrestling, I don't even have twenty five. So we're we're building. So it explained to us a little bit about the game itself. How many players on the field? Uh, you know, is it prim does it? See? Is it primarily a passing game? I mean, you know, my son played middle school flag football? Is it? You know? Similar?
AIA is kind of kind of made it its own thing with adding kickoff and and punting and stuff like that, but realistically it's it's if you've ever watched Boys Summer League seven on seven, it's very similar to that, except for your center is able to go out for for passes, and the center they can also blitz as many players as they want. Nice Nice, I remember doing this back in the day. Turn left of the can the trash can make the right you will hit you right there with them, all right,
you know stuff like that. So how do you draw up so what's what's good and what's not, I mean, what's legal and what's not. Uh, well, relistically, any any kind of you can do a handoff, you can pitch it, you can throw it. It's it's very similar to football what the boys are doing when it comes to routes and handoffs and stuff like that. But there's a strategy to it because as we learned last night, it's it's different when they rush three people. You got to kind
of change plans, right right. So okay, so, uh what did the first practice look like? And now you know how basic did you have to get? You know, for these girls? Did some of them come with knowledge? Any of them come with knowledge. A lot of them come with skills and skills you know, I mean it's not easy to throw a football. These girls are coming from other sports. So most of them have
an athletic background, whether it's track, whether it's basketball. Handful of these girls have been playing flat football on on club leagues and stuff like that. One of them has been playing, two of them and been playing their whole lives. So having that background helps. But first day of practice, definitely, you got to start, you know, start start at the beginning, right, right, well you did you do the same thing with the wrestling
program up there started? Yeah. Well, I've been working with Bruce Highly, our boys head coach at Marana for almost ten years now, so I've been an assistant to him until I became the girl's head coach about four or five years ago. Was it already established? Was it already established? Wrestling has been, Yes, the girls program was brand new for the AIA as well. So it's very similar to what we're doing now. Is it's an
emerging sport to a point? Yeah, That's why I asked if it was a similar startup, right, So yeah, and it's and it's changing and wrestling just like I I can foresee how it's going to look for Flag as well. So how's the you know, excitement around the h you know, around the program? I mean, you know, was the school I did
to see a new sport like this? You said you got twenty five girls, I mean that's a that's a pretty decent number, right, Yeah, yeah, I think there's our school backs us and and and believes in us. It's just right now, we're kind of in a tough spot because we don't have a football field, right and uh and you know, it's it's hard to have that school spirit when you don't have any home games right now,
that's coming though, yeah coming. Yeah, it's okay. Talk to me about your quarterback, you know, just you know, the skill level, what you're able to do, and the learning curve that that she's got for sure. Yeah. So our quarterback right now is Roxy Singer. Hold on one second, guys, I have somebody on my front door. I apologize. Tell me you're on the radio. You're having a radio interview. Yeah, but this is good, a good radio. This is it is really good. I mean I'm curious, right, yeah, I mean I'm
curious, and that's why I think. That's why I think. I recall middle school was I think, yeah, so what the quarterbacks? The center? It was three three line man. Okay, maybe he'll tell us, he'll tell us go back quarterback. Yeah, I apologized about that. Our quarterback is Roxy Singer. She she hasn't played softball or anything like that, but she's an athlete. So how are you guys set up? Tell me you have the center, quarterback, and then what's the rest of it?
Looked like, yeah, so you got you got a center, a quarterback and then pretty much everybody is eligible to receive the ball. So, and there's there's seven or eight players on the on the field. I'm sorry about that. Guy's kind of broke in and out. Are there seven or eight players on the field? There's seven, there's seven. Okay, so it's a center, a quarterback, and then basically five receivers and everybody can go out. Yeah, yeah, everybody can go out. Wow, Okay,
how the heck do you draw a place for that? It's tough, right, and also it's even tougher to build a defense around it. Yeah, sure, everybody covers somebody or what do you do? That will depends. Right now we're working on zone and a man coverage, but realistically, yeah, you gotta have everybody covers. Did you do you have a football background? Yeah? So I played. I was born and raised in Northwest Arizona or Tuson, Arizona, went to Maultview High School, played for all four
years after that. That was my football background. But I've been coaching for the last eleven years. Yeah, okay, okay, let's let's talk. We'll come back to this eventually. But so, how is wrestling. We've had a couple of the big time wrestlers on from Sundayside. How is that coaching them? It's great, Honestly, I love the pretty much. If you look at any of my my wrestlers that have been playing flag like they
can they can jump in and contribute because they've wrestled. I feel like that's really got a solid foundation for their sporting tell us a little bit about the growth of that, because that's been something you've been been building up for the
last the last few years. Again, it takes a certain type of athlete to be a wrestler, because much you know, in terms of when you talk about a sport that's hard, right, hard to participate in, right, I mean yeah, I mean tell us a little bit about you know, your approach there and having having wrestlers understand, you know, the dedication they've got to have to not only just be a good wrestler, but all the work that comes with it, weightlifting and watching your weight and all those
things. You know, what's that been like to do this with take a certain kind of person to wrestle, really, like when it comes to that diet and working out every day, they have to be dedicated. But you can also kind of see that in the classroom, right, I work in the council office. And Marianna and and you can see that there's a translation I swear between some of my girls that are wrestling and their GPA. Oh,
ask him your question. How about you coaching? You coaching? Well, well, we we talked about this a whole bunch, and and and you've coached guys as well, right, football or whatever? Yes, okay, I you know, I coach baseball my son and at St. At Saint Gregory finished coaching there when it did softball. Way different, all right, way the athletes just just way different. I mean, what was what you know? How does you did your approach have to change from when you
were coaching guys you're coaching girls. It's honestly, what's great about wrestling in itself, it's not much of a difference. Maybe the way you communicate with them might be different, but that's what It's the same with boys. You know, I can't communicate with the same football players. Alignment as a quarterback, as a wide receiver, all that stuff in a little bit different. So I don't I don't see it as any difference when it comes to their
gender. Yeah, no, that's good. For you. Good for you. I know you got to go to practice or something here. Pretty soon. You won your first game to zero. How do you score? Well, Well, our defense scored. We gotta safety in the first quarter. Well then nobody then nobody scored after that. No, no, no, it was a defensive battle for sure. Interesting. Wow, interesting, I mean, would would you expect there to be a lot of scoring or is
that you know, you know, is that the offense offense? They have to learn the offense as a whole lot more before you you get that kind of thing. Honestly, Yeah, it's it's first game, jitters. I think both sides kind of uh, kind of just struggled getting that momentum going. Once we started getting that momentum going, that clock ran out, so we were pretty much living in the red zone but half of the game. So yeah, okay, you have the same pell and Jed does red zone.

This is I on the Ball with Steve Rama and Jay Gonzalez on Box Sports fourteen fiftey. Hey, welcome back to IM about here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, you're ja. We have about sixteen seventeen minutes, maybe about fourteen minute two minutes, okay, Ella, busy reading and stuff. Steve, there's some interesting stuff has just come out,
breaking news. We'll breaking news. I can't decide if I should David for breaking news. If we should go, let's go with it, go with it? Well, okay. So, A a state senator Arizona State Center by the name of T. J. Schope who's from Coolidge, Republican from Coolidge, has sent a letter to the Board of Regents at requesting an investigation of Ray Anderson at a s U four are a number of alleged improprieties,
but none disclosed. I'm just reading the story, so uh, I don't know what specifically, uh the letter says, but okay, there's a photo of a graphic of the letters I'm gonna have to read at the next break. Maybe we'll talk about it more breaking news, but I mean literally, this just it just came out. But uh, you know, look, the thing what happened is to me, it's unforgivable. And I we're sitting here talking about ac when we got to arizon a football game to talk about
it. Unforgivable. That's a pretty big goose thing. What Steve, they've known, they've known that that you know they were gonna get punished for this? Well, yes, and no forever? Well you know, because who was Tennessee was in the same boat, right, you're you're you're Regardless of whether they knew they were going to get a postseason band, huh, they knew they were in big trouble. Sure, right, there's video photos.
Okay, why they waited for the new coach to come in and all these new players to come in and then do this as opposed to doing it last year? All right, when when Herm Edwards was still here and put they're making these kids. I almost feel sorry for him even though there they're making these kids pay for this. And again, regardless of whether we think they're going to go to a bowl game or not, or they're good enough to go to a bowl game or not. They think they are some kids were
gonna get paid for this. It's always the sins of the father. They get it. It's always some some group of kids who were not part of this, we're gonna get But then you but then you throw in all of the implications of the fact that Ray Anderson herm Edwards was a client of Ray Anderson. Of course, all of that, all of that, it just says that Ray Anderson didn't give one crap about doing the right thing. He didn't give one crap about the current athlete at a su All he cared about
was protecting his guy. We we had a hold on right said exactly that that the nepotism or whatever the word is for this one. And it starts the top two. Crow was kind of involved in this too. Well, what's Anderson's trade? I know he used to be a sports agent sports is he an attorney? Maybe a said an attorney issue. This gives me the right to say this. Now, just because you're a higher education doesn't make you a smart person. It just doesn't. Come on, we know a
lot of people who work. It's okay, you're there at the college, but did you go to school? Yeah? No, I well, he was a vice president. I'm looking at his Wikipedia. He was a vice president of the Atlanta Falcons who were there did good? Uh? God, he doesn't have much of it. I think I got more of a Wikipedia than this guy. But you have a Wikipedia. No, that's the point. I really don't. I really don't. That's all. It says that he was graduate. He's a Stanford graduate. He's a lawyer Harvard last.
That's see. There there's your problem. He should know. He should know, right, you'd like to think you smart. Yeah. Yeah, they're the smartest people in the room, until you find out you're not. You find out you're not. You know. Man, Well that's a problem for them to have, obviously. You know. The one thing that the guy that's gotten away with it is his herm. Here's the guy who fell back on his feet is at espn uh and and how can I see this?
Before he took the job, and even during the job. He's a funny dude. He's a very insightful quote da da, And he comes up with his speeches and but then he kind of misspeaks a lot of time, uh, in terms of being a hypocrite, I guess, Yet today there was a thing. People are upset that he's going on and ripping on other schools who have gotten in trouble stuff like that, when with the mess that he left behind right right, and he fell on his and fell back on his
doing this, it's funny. And ESPN has no no problem with you were cleaning. You're clean, You're clean with us, You're you're a good personality. We like you, you know, uh, you know, all good, all good, Well, well you know, we'll forget about this stuff. And I mean for you know, to even sit here and just to ever put him in a position where he will talk or allow him to talk about other schools getting in trouble with the mess that he left behind. I
mean, you gotta pay attention to what you're doing. And look, her members deserves to be able to get another job if he wants to get another job. But the hypocrisy of all that is incredible. People were shredding him because I guess I didn't see it, but I guess he went on and ripped ripped the Louisville football program because stuff they were doing, and then it was like, wait a minute, who are you to say, right, well, no, this was before, this was before yeah, this is
before all this school. He was still in the now analyst ESPN. Then years later he just comes of it. Come come on, always seen this before? It is what it is? Yeah, you know, I don't know it just it's just well, I'm wondering. And this may be a dumb speculation, Tepe. So Dillingham, would you have taken the job?
How'd you know this was going to happen? I'm saying, I'm thinking that, Well, you know, tom I mean Tommy took took the Arizona job knowing that something was that was was coming up without question, you know, and that a possibility of a postseason band and that stuff. This is Dillingham. I think he would have taken the job. But what I think the fact that they did this by choice after he got here, instead of taking care of the business before he got here, which they could have done,
is is is what is what's crazy? Is what's really really crazy? All right? Uh, I just want to be you know, it's a first week of college football, so hoping college football fans ready for week one, Draftking Sportsbook is hooking you up with a can't miss offer to start the season strong. If you haven't gotten your Draft Kings app or or you're not involved, you should. I five bucks gets you two hundre two hundred free buck
two hundred bucks. You'll see where you can win with. I would just tell you that. You know, when when we all signed up for DraftKings a couple of years ago, when it opened up, the free money that I got, you know, for signing up, I ran that a long, long long time. It should have been three almost three years. I ran that. I ran with that a really long time. So, you know, and I'm again we've talked, I'm a nickel and dying better. I'll bet ten dollars, I'll bet twenty dollars on a game or whatever,
and you make it last. And to me, it's just it's it's it's just having fun and that's what that's what we do. So yeah, that's something to really take advantage of. You got. You know, if you bet on college you put five bucks on a college game, you'll get two hundred, two hundred bets back. Yeah, you know, and then you know, similarly, when don't get, you don't get, you don't get the money you get, you get free bets. You can win those bets,
then it becomes free money. Then you work with that right, right, And uh, you know I use that to wins, you know, to win a bunch of stuff. And I I man, I had that stuff for a really long time. Yeah. I would even say that there's still some of that in my account somewhere, right, a piece of it. Yeah, sure to do that. Okay, all right, anybody want
to call me about six minutes, that'll be good. Let us know what you feel, whether it's a su or you of a there was you got the new contract, there was a new contract sign Yeah, all that stuff for breaking news. I got a whole okay, whole bunch of stuff. Yeah, you saw that that I guess. Yesterday Nanson revealed that flows it's not gonna start starting nobody he'll PLAYMP, you know. And it says one
or two things. One that you know, while he's a physical specimen, maybe he's not as good as we think, or yeah, or that maybe the other guy they have is pretty is really damn good, right right? No? Or or something else, yeah, because he fish did say Monday, he was there, he talked about learning the third new offense. Uh, you know, catching on very very fast to the ball, does all
these things, but but it doesn't fear that that he's completely grasping. But the defense Okay, but yeah, you know so again, but you know, all those guys are gonna play, and that's what again, that's what these games are for. I think we'll see a lot of guys on Saturday. I'm looking to forward to. There's a few things I'm looking forward to. But we spoke to this this week and I think I brought it up to you given what we saw. You see what that punt returning kicking of
Zacharya something, Yeah, that batch batch something like that. That how they let Speedy loose because he's gonna be fun to watch. But if we don't get to watch him, yeah, how much I'd like to think they'll use them like that, you know, kick returnsn't return him in space, you'll get him, you know, give him an opportunity to Yeah, but then again, you can be the fastest guy in or if you can't catch the ball, if you can't catch the punt or a kickoff or hold on to
it right, well, that's a big deal. It reminds me Ja. We talked about it in a little joke about it was you think the chunks from LSU quarterback forget his name now, and Rich Rodd what an arm? What an arm? Well, if you can't throw the ball to people who could catch it, exactly, what's the boy exactly exactly? No, you're right, you're right, Yeah, Jared Randall that yeah, that is Randall for sure. But he could throw Yeah he could throw the ball a mile.
But yeah, you gonna throw it to the right person. We don't need a mile, we need fifteen yards exactly exactly. So I don't know, you know again, what I don't know When you say question marks, that implies you know, you have questions about something. But there's just a lot of I'm interest intrigued to see what things are gonna look like. Who's playing a lot? You know? Is it is the offensive line you know going to be really good? Is the defensive line going to be really good?
Because you know two years ago they were not, and that you know, you know you saw that you were you were actually stunned at how man handled Arizona's line get where against NAU two years ago. Well, and I think another thing is what kind of influence Akina has had on the DB's rack and and how you know the motivation piece of that because He is that guy. He gets guys to do things that they didn't know they could do. Oh yeah, I want so badly to write my story on him, and
you keep piling on me. Hey, we should we tell people because there's gonna be a great piece coming out on Tommy Lloyd and Mysteries on magazine coming up. You know, I'm an editor and writer. So he's a writer for his Tucson and we're doing We're doing a piece on Tommy Lloyd. Gave a s access to some stuff, so read it. It's it's a it's
a great piece. It'll be coming out in early October, so we'll we'll tease it like that, really cool stuff different from what you see, you know, justin spear or with a Bruce Pascoe and these guys we take a different name. Yeah, and he was he was opened up to me. He was fun. He's just a normal dude. I hadn't been really spend just God's on the shoot. We have two minutes, so I spent a lot of time obviously in Lute's office because we have interviews thereon. And it
was nice. It was nice. It was totally different than what it is now that it's smaller and he had his trophies there and kind of whatever. Sean. I went into his office maybe once, maybe once, We're like a cup of coffee. It was like hello, goodbye. And now I spend some time with him in his locker in his office. It's like this groom. It's not opulent. He's got a couple of things, a couple of Jersey's just hung up, not in augh, just a simple dude,
whatever call of colust right now. We can't take the call because we're at the top of the hour. But whoever just called right now, please call us back after the after the time, even during breaking news. We'll take your call. We're just too close to the top of the hour to take the call right now. So it was just a just a room with stuff. It was nothing that you think, you know, would be wow. Yeah, And he said, no, dude, I'm not that dude. I come here just to kind of, you know, chill out and then
prepare for the day. And I think this is this is this is the dude. You want to go out with him to have a beer with yeah, and anything people do ye know, Tommy's out and about, you know, And that that was a part of you know, part of what you know, what you talked about that he's just he's just out and about, hepping about and doing what he needs to do to make this team better.
Shaking hands, kissing babies, things like that, exactly exactly, and it's not afraid to do it, and it's not afraid to do it, and it's comfortable doing very much, very comfortable. Okay, let's take our break. We're gonna come back. We'll have breaking news at the top of the hour, a lot of stuff. Uh, you know, there's some football stuff, there's some other stuff, but you know, it's I'm excited. I'm excited that we're here and uh and that there's a lot of football talk
going on. So stick around for that breaking news top of the hour. We'll be right back
