Fox Sports fourteen fifty. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jagonzalez Soun Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services and Sure Your Most Prized Possessions, Kati z R two SAD and iHeartRadio Station. Ay, good afternoon, everybody, Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty I'm Steve Rivera, He's Jagan Zalis. We have no kids in today, so expect who knows what anything can happen, Anything can happen, It

usually does here. It's welcome to Wednesday. Two more days when we won't year and one day closer to the final four. I'm excited, Yeah, yeah, very excited. And you know what someone asked me is the is the women's final four more exciting than the men's final four this year? And I'm thinking you might be right. The fact that they have to think about it, right, the fact that they have to think about it says a lot of mind. So much storyline, so many great storyline, the great

storylines. You know, obviously the generational player in Caitlyn Clark, right, people waiting to see, you know, she win the championship and you know, put her name up there on the but in the Mount Rushmore of women's college basketball. You know, here's the problem with all that we don't we don't. I don't follow it. I'll be guilt. I'm guilty of that

for for years, right, for years, for years. And I hope that we have a dea on on on the show at some point because she lived that she played that she knows it that where she could put if she, if she does, deserve to be put on Mount Rushmore. We didn't see sheryld Miller play. I didn't I did. How good was she really? Swoops shop? She was a she was in MS in terms of her style of play was more like a Juju watkin right, And she was athletic.

She was athletic physical at a time when there weren't that kind of athletic physical grinder. She could shoot the hell out of the ball to Rosa. Yeah, I mean people again, people made fun that was actually better than Reggie or not. Oh right, Yeah, and probably for her, for her, for her uh gender, probably in terms of comparatively. Yeah, but you know what I'm saying, how do we know Clark is fantastic at

least that I've seen. But I didn't see anybody before her. It's like watching Secretary or I mean, if you didn't watch Kelsey Plumb, if you didn't like I saw Sabrina Ieski, but you know she's ROSSI great. I didn't you know, I didn't see Dan and Tarssi all that much. As you said, Cheryl sweeps all the you know, all these players whose names are out there, whose names come to mind when two guys who don't haven't spent a lot of time uh watching football, I mean watching women's basketball,

you know, those names come to us. But you know, this is this is a situation where everybody knows and they're watching there even though they don't even like basketball or women's basketball. Unless that I was with a group of guys, my guys, and they were talking about I said, old dudes, some old dudes talking about women's basketball. That never happens. You know, it's not in terms of how many people are watching and that kind of stuff. Certainly not the men's Final Four. It's not, and I doubt

if it ever will be. But in terms of what are people talking about and where it's come from? Right where it's come Yeah, you know where you know, what are people talking about? There's a lot of people talking about and there will be a lot of people in front of the TV on Monday night. There'll be Friday night with another storyline with Connecticut and in Iowa and then the other side as well, North Carolina State and South Carolinina.

You know, the most invincible team this year undefeated again. So another week great weekend of basketball obviously Saturday with the men and then Monday night with them. And you know, I again, as much as I've been bad mouthing this Purdue in North Carolina State game coming up, I think Fordue is just going to kill them and it's going to be a not an interesting game to

watch. You still have to be intrigued by the matchup of Zach Eedy against dj uh whatever his last name is, Bloom Bloom Burns, Burns Burns. Yeah, so let me don't even know his names, uh so, but go ahead and and go your chalky way as we know it. In the final four, Arizona was not Chuck. They won it. Georgetown lost to not Chuck. We can go. And I was just gonna mention one of the great teams ever, and I think they beat who they beat to get

to that point because they were on one of those magical lives. Yeah, they they got in because they won their conference conference tournament that year as well, a lot of people comparing those two things. And then they beat the most one of the best teams ever at that time and probably say, so, okay, we kind of started differently, but here we are looking forward. So a lot of things going on, you see. Uh uh I guess what's his name? Uh Keishaw Johnson's gonna be in the dunk contest Thursday

night, Phoenix. He didn't see that he stole a slow breaking news thing for me, So he's gonna be up there Thursday night. I was surprised that Caleb Love was not invited or asked. Maybe he was to the three point shooting contest. I remember what he did in the tournament. Would you invite it? It would be if he went that he play that he wanted, and I'd be mad at you. You damn monk, Smoky Gonzales, you and everybody else. Oh sure you can shore when nobody cares, when

the pressure is not on. Oh for sure. You ever read the Monkey story? I didn't what I was, you know what, I was going to do my homework and I got stranded until I got stranded with my car. I'm trying to get it started. I couldn't. I had to have my wife meet me over there. So, dude, how many times you feature homework? I got way late. I will read I will read it before the next show, I promise. Okay, that's tomorrow, our last

one, last show of the week. Yeah, we're both headed to the Final four on Friday, so there'll be no show Friday, no show Monday, so well, but we'll be back on Tuesday. You get us going into the summer, right right, Yeah, it's gonna be a pretty long summer. In fact, we're gonna talk about football today. I haven't been you haven't been out there practice, So we're gonna rely on Troy Hutchinson,

who has been out there. He's gonna tell us all about what he sees out there looking forward to that day three I think just finished four maybe three or four I think they started, Yeah, yeah, don't yeah, three or four, So we'll see what get an update, what what he says about it. And then at four fifteen, we're gonna have Jason hockemy who just won his toys said, Jason, that other hockey he's gonna be mad at you practicing. Well, I actually put him on. I put Jason

on on on our social media when it was Kendal that was coming. I don't remember that was that's worse. You know the board that's where kidknock me. Okay, okay, yeah, So we'll have him talking about baseball here on the other side, you don't doing really well them spot too. I think they caught fire just after they want like sixteen fifteen in row. So yeah, and she she needs that to happen. She had been struggling, so she needs that to happen. What else locally that we could say she

being uh beatos right to make sure we pull that name like that. I needed to know because I've known her dad or mine for years. You probably remember the dad and right away the day, well, I had to think, okay, doctor Rebecca. So last night I heard a couple of things from the group that I went, they really like the wrestler. I had a lot of good response Audrey. They really fell in love with her. That she's eighteen, and she spoke very well. That that was the thing

that everybody said to me. Yeah, well spoken. And she's going to Lee High turned down Columbia exactly, She's going to She turned out to love. She's a smart kid. But but you know, her enthusiasm and just you know, just talking about you know, a passion of hers that that was turning into something. The wrestlers are tough. They're the toughest people I know. Yeah, yeah, angles, you know, I mean, I mean, you went to you in high school, you need the wrestlers and

if you're you know, they're the footballers. Well yeah, but some of them were not. But there was. But even the football players were different during wrestling season. Yeah right, they had a different I mean it's like they were always angry at something and felt they needed to be angry at something. The toughest to be good wrestlers, and they were. They were Kamakazi's. Yeah. They didn't care about their bodies anything. Well everyone I had

a couple didn't. Who's the guy they kid at the time, Uh, Sing David somewhere like that. Tony found he was a wrestler by trade and he came in Saint David, I think somewhere ring in a little bit of a bell. Uh maybe maybe how you're listening and let me know, just just wrestling dudes, Marcus Bell. No, no, no, they don't come. I think there's a defensive guy, defensive d back or or a linebacker. Just that I think the spots were wrestled. Probably a lot of

those guys don'ts with wrestlers, no way. Angles they know drinks that you know, they don't even have r they know, they don't where to they don't where to grab And then we asked him, why would you do this for the w W whatever, the UFC. Yeah, this is what I know, is what I know? Okay, right, okay, anything else we need to talk about now, you know, just a lot more activity in the in the transfer portal and stuff like that. We'll get to some

of those things in breaking news. I haven't seen anybody. I haven't seen any action around are zon a basketball. Sure, a lot of you know, a lot of a lot of a lot of different opinions out there because some people saying, Okay, Kylin Boswell will leave, Kylein Boswell won't leave, Kylin Boswell should leave, Kylin Boswell shouldn't leave, Kylon Boswell start next year. No, he won't. You know, just everybody's got a different

opinion. He's sort of the you know, the polarizing uh well, uh, you know, per player on the on the court, the car, the player everybody's thinking about, like Caleb Love is gone. Did we have said Johnson's gone? Do we have this last year? Right? Didn't he didn't? I guess that truck he got or whatever money he got was spent and I guess it turns out, you know, since he wasn't gonna be able to play for Huggins, he didn't want to stay you know anymore,

So he's moving on. So I you know, that's that's sort of gonna to me. That's sort of the news of the off season for now for Man's basketball is what what does happen to Coylin Boswell? What are they going to do with him? Uh? You know, I mean, well know or we're pretty sure that Tommy loves him, So I don't think he wants

to push him out the door. But on the other hand, you know, he'll be honest with him if if he's got it, you know, if the opportunity here is not going to be what he's looking for, he'll let him know that, I would think, right, So, yeah, I don't think that tom is going to be as anybody. And so this is a situation. There was one thing that I saw yesterday because of Philippe

and Morosco left that and maybe we did or didn't talk about this. I can't remember about Tommy going deeper into the bench, right, I think we did. Because there's no space for you could talk. You could talk all the game. You have about having a bench, But at the end of the day, when you put him on the seven eight guys, right, and when you put him on the court, they got to be able to help you win. You don't put him on the court for the sake of

putting him on the court. You put him on the court because they're helping you do something. If Moroscos wasn't playing, even as good as shooter as he was, then there was something else he wasn't doing that would have made him a liability on the court. Sure, And the same thing with the board of each in it. You know again, people fail to often fail to understand or believe that when coach plays guys because those guys are going to

help him win. And if a guy is not going to help him win, it's not going to do the things that they need him to do to help them win, they're not going to play. Sure, that's why there were only seven players in the in the rotation last Sure. Yeah, no, of course, And that's who you trust. Are you use that word because they're going to help you win games, they're gonna help you lose?

Because what good is it going to do if Moroscus is hitting threes, but giving up threes up and down the floor, that's not what you're looking for. And who knows better, who knows those guys better than the coach? I mean, you know, I mean, And look, we all remember dusan Rist Its right, guy with money under the back, throwing the ball under the bat. He's going to score, but he couldn't. But he was such a liability on the other on the other end of the court,

he couldn't go. But he was in that instance. My guess is that his offense, so it was so much, so much more out in front of his defense that they were willing to do to deal with his defensive liability to put him out there on offense. Yeah, but not all go, you know not and then deal with the frustration knowing that, right, So you know, play coaches want players who help them win on the court. And if you've got seven or eight or nine or ten, that's how many

you're gonna play. And that's it, that's all you're gonna play. Because at the end of the day, the coach is judged by wins and austin, it's a performance job, right, And here we are, so we'll see what happens with the rest of them with Bosball. Maybe he comes on seas I'm staying. Maybe he says I'm coming out and leaving or testing. I guess. I guess I'll look up when when the transfer portal. It's pretty it's pretty soon. Well maybe thirty days after the season. I don't

know. I shouldn't say, and tell me to find out. So again, we're gonna go to Ken. No, no, we've got Troy first. Oh yeah, don't sorry, Troy. I tell you we're gonna miss this up. I'm gonna miss this up the Troy at up to five minutes and then have Ken. How came he at the four? Care for the record? The portal closes May one, okay, so yeah, three days forty five days after the season, after the after it opens. So May one is the closing date. And there's already more than two thousand people I

think in the yeah, and growing and growing. So student athletes live in a great time for themselves. They do. They love the flexibility and not that, not that, not that it's good a good time. Yes, I mean for those those of us, the purist who say we don't think it's great because you know, guys just come and go and sure, but coaches, you know, kind of hate it. But you know, do they really in the end, because if they have a bad season, they

can just shuffle the cards and start all over. But imagine, Sean couldn't do this. You couldn't put all you know, humpty dumpties back together yet because you had two many guys and it takes it takes a while to get them to go. It does, you know? So it does? All right, we're going to take our break, We're to come back. We're gonna have Troy hutch You said, we'll talks to Marizona spring football, So stick around for Troy. Hey, welcome back to Win on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty.

I'm Steve Rivera, He's jacobsaus. Now on the phone, we have Troy Hutchinson from Go Easycats dot com. Troy, can I borrow the audio from today's practice? Hey tomorrow you can borrow as much you as you want. Well, you've been out to practice. What do you see? What are they saying? You know, it's definitely a different vibe, and not in a bad way or in you know what's or not, but a little bit

more relaxed out there with this coaching staff with Brent Brennan. You know, he's kind of a I don't want to say happy go lucky guy, but it just seems like there's a sense of calmness and letting his assistant coaches do what they need to do with the position groups, and then once they break into seven on seven and eleven on eleven, then you really see him take

the reins. But all these coaches, they have a lot of experience, from Duayna Quina to Dino Babers to Dany Gonzalez just the name a few, and he trusts his guys, and I think that's so far is the biggest takeaway. He is letting his coaches coach, is he I guess I don't know if we've asked this question before. You know, Jed was a play caller, right Jed was essentially the offensive coordinator. Is Brent Brannan also the

play caller? Is he the OC? For for the most part, As of my understanding right now, it looks like that role is going to go to Dino babersk and Duyna Keina will have the defensive play So you're going to see kind of, you know, Brennan have his hands in a little bit of both, but really trusting his coordinators who have a ton of experience. Well, I guess that'll makes sense. You know, Babers probably wouldn't have

taken the job if he wasn't going to be calling plays right correct. And also you know he gets to work with the quarterbacks as well, so he is kind of it was on his quarterback coach per se, and really has his hands involved in offense. So very accommodating then media wise, by everybody involved for sure. You know, it wasn't that the last staff was terrible

at accommodating, but it's definitely a different vibe. I've never had players come up to you and say mahallo and give you a hug before a press conference, but that's just kind of the vibe going around Arizona football right now. And you know, after press conferences we get to talk to the coaches a little bit off the record and off camera and you know, just see their thoughts on the football team and just a state of the prom in right now.

It's you know, very open, Uh, they're very you know aware of the expectations of this upcoming year and they're willing to work with you know, everybody involved in the program and who covers the program and getting the job done to help you get your job done. Well, maybe they're hugging you because they realize you're just a huggable guy. Just one of those phases. So I know it's you know, I know, I go to practice.

I'm not sure what I'm seeing right, But in terms of can you tell does it look the same in terms of what they're doing, or can you tell anything from you know, from from the things that they're doing offensively defensively, that it's looks any different than than what they were doing before. Defensively, it's going to look very similar to what it was last season, with coach Johnny Nansen and duyanne A Keina really being the architect of that defense.

Uh. You know, Keina's mentioned that there's going to be a lot more pressure on the quarterback this season, more of a desert swarm like mentality to the defense. But all in all, the defense is going to remain the same with some you know, little tweaks here and there. Offensively, Coach Babs really wants to keep that under wraps in terms of what he's going to be running this season, but so far, there's a lot of movement from tight ends to receivers to running backs, a lot of motion, a lot

of shotgun thus far. So to me, I would assume it's going to be similar to what Baylor ran when our Brieles was the head coach there, when Dino was I believe the quarterback coach or receiving coach under Briles at Baylor. So I think it's going to be very similar to that and a little less of what Syracuse had, but up tempo and a lot of motion, I think is to be expected with Arizona. Okay, that's good. Anybody impress you so far? Yeah? You know, I think the one guy

that really stands out receiving room is aj Jones. Last year he had a couple plays, didn't really get on the field that much, but you know, he's put on a lot of muscle, especially his upper body. The dudes just ripped and he's making play after play. Hasn't really dropped very many passes. He could be that number two receiver to go alongside Tatua and McMillan.

I think they need to get that squared away and then to Carrio Davis, you know, moving from the number two corner behind Ephesians Prize OC to the number one corner that's a big responsibility. And he had two interceptions yesterday and one he high pointed over Totoa and it was really the play of the practice. Just an amazing play by Davis. But you know, can you

do that repeatedly? I think that's going to be interesting to see. But you see two guys that need to step up this season developing for Arizona. So we heard the comments from from Dino Babers who said that no off of feet is just different. What's the context of that. I think he means

different in terms of a that knows how to be a leader. You see Noah pulling guys along and you know, making sure they're running the right routes, making sure other quarterbacks are understanding the concept on the field and making sure that they do the play well and they'll redo plays if they need to. Just that leadership mentality at such a young age is rare to see. And then to couple that with his performance on the field, he's very sharp.

He knows how to read a pocket, he knows how to read a defense, and he's not going to force stuff. You've already seen him this spring throw balls away when plays haven't been there. You know, it's not great, but it's not an interception. So you're seeing development that you saw last

season continue on. And yeah, he's had his you know, tough times every now and then the spring, throwing a couple of picks, but you're seeing an evolution of a quarterback that can be that guy that maybe goes under the radar and makes a third fourth round draft pick out of himself in the next couple of years. So you've been a practice, but there was news today. I don't we can break here, we can say it. You know, he's Mason, the Mason, the Mason Kids going to cut to

Arizona. But before he got offered by so offered. Okay, what is his name, Mason Bray, Heath Bray's son, Oh, Heath Pratt. Yes, yes, I did see that that he got an offer from Arizona. That's that's massive. Good for him and good for the Brave family as well. Yes, yes, got to continue the legacy of his father, which is good. How is recruiting going and and what's up with that?

We can also transition to basketball. You remember that sport just a couple of weeks ago, the sport that breaks everybody's heart, getting down now, UH, recruiting for football is going there. Well, they're going to have a lot of official visitors in the next couple of months from May to June, a lot of five star, four star kids, UH, highlighted by a four star running back out of Texas. So we'll see how those goes, and we'll go and we'll be able to talk to some of those recruits as

they finish up their visits. And then basketball wise, you know, it's transfer season. So we've already seen two players come off the roster and Polius Morawskis and Philip Borovici, and really not a surprise in my opinion. Possibly one or two more as well as you see a transformation of the roster. But there's a lot of guys out there to keep an eye on that maybe Arizona hasn't offered yet, like Utah States point guard. I think that would

be a very good addition, or Miles Miles Rice from Washington State. There are some names out there that Arizona could add to kind of shore up there by man rotation. Speedy Luke was on the podium what yesterday day before talking about Okay, this is his time, tell us a little bit about what's going on at running back. Yeah, you know, it's a loaded backfield with a lot of talent in terms of speed. Luke looks a little bit bigger out there than last year. You could tell he was put on some

muscle. And then Kwally Conley. I mean he has been as advertised to me, he's similar to Quila Antlin from back in the day. Very center of gravity can take ahead, bounce off of guys. But really you're going to see this backfield solidify itself when Jacorey Mehrick comes over from New Mexico. He's due to come during training camp and you're going to have about the ability to go three four deep in the backfield of two guys really being the workhorse

for Arizona. So, Jay and I back in the day before you were even born, maybe before your parents were even married, we covered this team and a young man named Duenna Keenan was the coach in the backfield giving guys encouragement to encouragement is a great rid for this for him from him every time he gets on the podium to talk, it's like listening to a sermon. I mean it's like can't miss stuff. Yeah, I don't, do you feel that way. Yeah, No, I mean definitely one of the top

interviews on the coaching staff. Him and UH coach Alonso Carter. They have a story for everything, and you know, you ask three or four questions and all of a sudden, it's been fifteen minutes. You know, they should just go on and on, but you enjoy the stories and you still get what you need. But yeah, no, Joanna Kina is definitely a character, and he's somebody that I think all the media looks for its interviewing. You know, we know we know him, you know, as an

energetic, all over the place kind of guy. Any issues with how old he is and him out there doing didn't we say when we talked to him in August? Right, didn't he say you and him are about to say or he's a little old. Yeah, but he's coaching football. I'm not, you know, but he's so that was thirty We covered him thirty, yeah, thirty five years ago maybe, and that was when he was like

thirty one, I think. But you know, it's just to me, it's like, you know, what when when when he was being talked about as a possible he's way older than me. Okay, he's like three years old. That's way, you know, I thought, you know a guy that far along in his football crew, does he want to be a defensive coordinator again, you know, for a program like this because of the amount of work that it takes to do it. But he's not lacking the energy,

is he. No. I mean he's the most energetic coach out there on the field. He has more energy than you know, some twenty year

olds watching him on the sideline. I mean, it's amazing to watch and he does a great job of and I think you know Tomy used to do this, Loot did this, and some other coaches in Arizona's history, Mike Andrea of breaking down a player when they make the mistake, to let them know what they were doing wrong and what the expectation is, and then building them back up right after that play, loving on them for making a play. I mean, it's very you know, technical coaching. And he knows

what he wants and he's going to let you know that. But he's also going to build up in and praise you and love you when you do good and you succeed and you execute the drill at a high level. Yeah, I mean, I'm exious to get out there, and you know, I mean, I'll have him as much fun watching him at a practice as watching watching the other guys. Is there is anybody emerging as a number two quarterback?

Number two quarterbacks right now, I would say is Braydon Dorman, the four star kid out of Colorado last season really didn't play very much underneath Coach Fish has a very good arm, a little bit more mobile than what people think. But the short game with the quick release needs to be improved. After that, you know, it's it's cold Tannerbaum and that's about it.

They probably need to bring in I would think a quarterback ad grad transfer, just to have somebody there in case worse comes to worst and you have to put in a substitution late in the game. But you know, Dorman's developing very nicely. I just don't know if he's ready for game action right now. I was gonna ask you something I can't remember now, darn. Oh,

Okay, this is a tough question for you to answer. You don't have to answer this, Okay, So Fish has gone long gone, he's got you know, they've got the people that stayed here, do you? And you don't have to say, sources, do you get a sensed from the players, And I don't know if you talked to them, however, that some of them are okay that he left or or okay, it's not

the right word, glad that he left. I think, you know, maybe not necessarily the guys that were playing every day, but there are definitely people on the roster that didn't really get the opportunity that they might have deserved or even carries that they might have deserved underneath the previous staff with mismanagement of talent. But yeah, I say, I think they're glad to see a new coaching staff come in. I think they do love the whole coaching staff.

But having a waching staff that understands how to use speed in space is massive. Four Arizona and the roster that they have put together, you have a lot of speed everywhere from running backs to receivers and just having the understanding of how to get them the ball in space. I think this coaching staff has already shown that they're going to be able to do that more than the previous staff. Well, okay, okay, all last year is as good as Temac was. I thought all along that he was like awful thin,

and you know, maybe not somebody who might not be as physical. I mean, incredibly talented, but I don't know how physical you could be. I mean, oh, look, I look at his calves and they look like my daughter's calves. All right, is he gotten much bigger? I think he's put on a little bit more weight. You know, you can always improve. He's a lot more physical than last season. He's been able

to finish in traffic time to time in the spring practice. When I look at what he's been able to do, and the fact that every every rotation in terms of first team offense, when they first go eleven on eleven, seven on seven, the first play is always no Fafeita to Tamak every single time. So, my guests, as of right now, if I had to make some prediction, you're going to look at the guy that's going to be in that ninety to ninety five catch range, thirteen hundred yards, fourteen

to fifteen touchdowns. I think he's going to have a massive year and work his way into the top ten of NFL draft. Yeah. I think he's going to be, at the end of the day, the best player to ever play here. This is the last year, we're going to see him here. Yes, I think so, and I agree. I think he'll be able to surpass the Teddy Bruskis and the Ricky Huntleyes that have played a their zone. Just don't tell him that Jay said that his ankles looked over

his legs. Look, I want to say, but my daughters don't have chicken legs or anything like that, but they he just seemed a little narrow. Keep that to yourself. Try no one's listening anyway. I'm gonna say, nobody heard. You. Don't tell nice. We'll talk about basketball and we want to break other people's hearts later. Okay, have a good one later. So I'm gonna ask you that question, to ask him, do you feel what? Do we know? Right? There always are guys who

are happy the other coaching staff left because for that reason. There's guys that, no matter what, no matter how well things are going on, there's guys who feel like I need a new coach here to have an opportunity, somebody else's eyes on me always, always, no doubt, Why no doubt. You know that that's not a bad thing. It's just it's just nature that you know, some coach, some some guys get you know, they

get in, they get in, they get into a coach's doghouse. The guys that are getting into the coach's kitchen and you know, they hang out with them. So it's just different ways. They're always doghouse coaches kitchen like that. Right, Okay, we're gonna take our break. We'll come back. We'll take your calls. Five two zero four one six seventy would love

talking about you know, Arizona football. You're okay, you're gonna ask me, Oh well, I answered the question whether or not you know? I mean, yeah you know. I mean you got you played on teams that had different coaches and stuff. Yeah yeah, no, but not like maybe maybe you know a little league coach or something like that. No, it was more about God, he makes us run. I hope he doesn't come back. He makes us run too much, so we don't really play the

game more than that. I used to play all the time, so I didn't worry. But they was like, please don't make us running. Yeah, I yeah. I mean there have to be guys who felt like they weren't. They weren't getting the opportunity that you know that you know, you know, he know that was his favorite player and stuff like that, and

you know, and that's why guys leaving stuff like that. So yeah, of course, you know there have to be guys who were saying yeah, you know, or maybe just guys I need, you know, need a little change. Yeah, and a lot of them left, I mean Rocker and some of those guys left who looked promising and looked promising, right, and then all of a sudden, So we'll see. I'm looking forward to going out there, at least for the spring game. I don't know when

I'll be out there. Yeah, because the show, they practiced a lot during the show, well they do practice, so he can't really do that. We could go out there on Saturday Saturday, or maybe even do the show from there, maybe not well from outside yea or nearby, which I guess wouldn't be wouldn't what's the point, right, because we're not going to be in there watching it. Yeah, So what's the point. It's not like we're doing into a play by play, right, Yeah, am fa

Fia goes back to pass the touchdown. The guy with the skinny ankles. Am I gonna get in trouble for that? No? You what did you say that? Because I was always worried about him getting hurt because he just looks so you know, he doesn't look his upper body looks good. But him, you know, he's he's thin. He don't even doesn't have big arms or anything. And you know, for the type of game he has, maybe that's how his body needs to be. You're just worried that he

was breakable. But he was very durble, didn't miss a game, you know all that stuff. You know. Yeah, I remember against California last year the year before and you made that touchdown catch and I says, this is why they got this kid. Yeah he could just make place. Yeah yeah, no, he absolutely can't. I I you know, started going to be football. I mean, here we are football. We just finished basketball. I thought the year was almost in about five weeks. It's four

weeks. But however the weeks it's almost school years almost done. Yeah, the year went by very fast. I think maybe because there was football went past because they were they were good and it was fun and it was a great. The season didn't drag at all and basketball kind of the same. Dragged was the time between the end of the regular season and then the bowl game because you just want to ride it back on the right. Yeah,

and then you know, so football went into December. By the time we come out of football conference season is starting for basketball and uh and and all those things. It was, you know, it just it's it's been a fun school year for sports Arizona and it always is when football and basketball fun for whom If you asked if he key, I don't think it was stunned if he has pressed so fun, is it not so fun? That's so fun? But that was outside of the outside of the sports area. So

we'll see what happens. I'm still trying to get Greg Burden on tomorrow. He's in teasing the state now. So yeah, he's a little He changes number, he changes numbers. That's why he ghosted me. It is no longer in. He probably gotta work. He probably gotta finally Alabama work. I tried to reach him today, I couldn't. His number didn't didn't go. Okay, so but I see him on Twitter, saw when I probably

see if he can come on talk about all this success. I posted something kind of I thought was kind of funny, but you know what, my humor sucks. Uh when when Alabama got to lead date and I'm thinking he's taking Bama to lead eight before Arizona has gotten to the even when he was here, you know, because he he was here, they were not.

I don't think in the labor parts of was he the ad? No, he wasn't the ad when those two Sean Miller teams Sean maybe maybe well in the meantime in the last few years, you know, he went to Alabama's got into them, gott in terms of yea and now to the final four. I mean, the guy falls, the guy lives under under gold or something because it's it's gotten very via. It has gone well for him, you know, and he's widely considered one of the most influential and powerful people

in college athletics just because he's the a D at Alabama. And guess what, he got a lot more power this year. And guess who is another one of those Chris conn also very well, let me finish now, he's got a lot of power, you know what, he's got more Yeah. Wow, there's one less guy who's got more power than him. At Alabama

is more or less what we're talking about. So good. Good for Greg Burning and the Obama I mean, it's funny how how we kind of look back at the U A Best buses and we talked to UH to UH yesterday about it. How Arizona's non conference schedule was easier than the PAC twelve conference schedule. You would have never said that one. You never would have said that before the year. Wait, that the non conference schedule was easy. Oh, in terms of wins, right than they Well, I wouldn't say

it was easier. I would say that they handled it better. You well, in retrospect. But if I asked you this in October thirtieth, you know they can lose more games in the non conference. Yeah, yeah, No, I hear what you're saying. I understand what you're saying. But what I'm saying is it wasn't. I wouldn't call it easier. I would just say that, you know, they lay better and won more games that

you wouldn't expect me to win. They in their non conference season, they didn't lose to anybody as bad as the conference scenes that they lost well, right, And I guess that's what you're saying. Yeah, you know, yeah, and that which was happy, which was do you think if they were the number one seed, if they would have happened to get it. I don't believe this. Things would have done better. No, neither to

do it wouldn't matter, neither do. They were gonna lose. They were gonna lose in the sweet sixteen to somebody if they if they were gonna play like that in the sweet sixteen, so and so, who knows what the circumstances are, right, maybe they don't have as bad a game if they're playing a different opponent. But whatever it was, they didn't lose because of Clemson. No, they lost because of them. There was no question.

They played Alabama again, probably would have been right. Arizona lost because of Arizona. Clemson is a team that they could have and should have handled, and they didn't because they played so bad and they didn't even play back. They shot bad. They just shot bad, and they and they defended badly in the final mass Yeah oh well yeah, but I mean, you know, if you're making, you know, the three pointers that you're normally making, you're winning that game by ten, twelve, fifteen points. But they

didn't. And that's what happens. And if you do that in the NCAA tournament, you lose and that's what they get. Well, you can say that to North Carolina, everybody. You could say that a few of the teams. You're, Creighton, Marquette, Marquette was a two seed, Houston, you know, all those tennessee all those teams, and said, all we had to do is play to our ability, and we went. Let me ask you this. This might be crazy, So I can kind of say this, No, I don't want to say it, because well,

I traveled with the I traveled for a reason. I had a book deal, going book deal if they win and I do it, and that's why I I already had it done. At least we're the puncture is. Already were already get a work out some details. So it didn't happen. So that crushed me. So I premise that by saying this to you, your dad had his his uh, his goal of reaching to the to the rose

bull. It didn't happen in his lifetime. In your lifetime, you think you're gonna win a national title, a national team and in basketball sketball, I do what gives you that because I'm hoping to live in another different years, so they'll win with the next twenty years. Yeah, I think I wouldn't. I'm not going to predict that they will, but I wouldn't be shocked if they wouldn't winning the next That's not a fun evaluation. So well, you said, yeah, I think they I think they should win one

in the next five years. I really do the right Steve, they're knocking on the door. They just you know, is it the right door. I don't know, but but I think Tommy's I think Tommy's program is because look these last two years, you can't say he had Sean Miller's guys. No, no, no, right, So he's coaching these guys, he's he's putting these teams together and they're really good. Sure, And you know, I got into debate with my Sundaday at lunch because we Wednesday group.

Yeah, well, I said, I said, I said, in the end, I don't think they were good enough to win a national championship. I don't think that they were going to beat Purdue or Yukon. There's no questions. And he said, I think they could have. And I said, I don't think they were going And then we got into a okay, out of ten times many games would they win? And he and he said it for you, He said, I think we play we I think Arizona plays you cont ten times, Arizona wins three. That's my number. And

the number with Purdue is probably about the same. Maybe four, certainly not five. You're not gonna split with two. Even Alabama that could have been six to four. Yeah, so so you know, but I said, what we're seeing now the two teams were seeing up there, the Yukon of Purdue teams that were seeing up there. I don't see how Arizona would have beat either one of those teams. So I don't think they were going to win the national championship this year. Now. Were they good enough to get

to the final four? Absolutely one good enough to get to the final four. They could have gotten to the final four. And I know that's sort of the goal, you know, you you worry that when they get to a final four, everybody days of difference. Oh we got to the final four and then they don't finish of course, But you know what, that's the funny thing about Arizona basketball. They they get pastor vershon, what do they do excel, right, excel, and then they win the next game,

they exhale again, that's what this program has come to. And then you're saying they get to the final four and they exhale because that's the next that's the next level. They haven't been there in forever, So they're doing for a program that's that's built or at least thinks of themselves as being very very good. And you're exhaling after every win. Yeah, but teams, but programs been produced been doing that. Yeah, but they don't have they

don't have the success of Arizona, I know. But the point that you know they haven't been there. Get they came in as another number one seed and people were waiting for them to lose. Again, they were waiting for themselves to lose. Sure, at least their fans. Yeah, sure of course, but but they were pretty good. Yeah, they haven't been to the final four in nineteen eighty I know that Joe, Barry Carroll and Louke

that's what the year Loot was there with Taiowa. Yeah no, but but but but but my point being that there are some programs who have a history that when the NCAA tournament rolls around. It's nerve wracking no matter what. Well, of course, of course, program a Yukon is not right. The Yukon gets into a tournament with a team and they go out in there and kick the mass, right, you know, I think that's what and that's what Sean, that's what the me wants that to happen. Let a

rip go play. You don't have fun and the guys don't get Who's another program that's become that It wasn't like that. Kentucky. Oh yeah, Kentucky's like their fans are going to be on edge until you know, they win in their first round game and move on. Sore. North Carolina's eventually going to become that school to Duke, maybe too because look at look at Duke. Yeah, it's another birthright that hasn't really come to fruition right exactly.

And they had Williamson, they had all these great plays. Yeah, so you know, and it's okay, it's kind of the way it is for teams you get into the tournament. What let me let me say it this way for teams like Arizona, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, Yukon.

Uh, you know, Whoever, when the expectation becomes or now, when the expectation, when you're defined by how you do in the NCAA tournament, that's when it gets nerve wracking for them because the intent that the expectation is to, you know, do well in the NCAA tournament, whether it's get to a Final four or win a national championship. Those programs are the ones that are most nervous when the tournament starts because of that expectation. Does does

that expectation? Even they don't. Before we go, we had about less minute. I talked to him some of my guys and I've said this all along. I've covered this team for thirty some years now. The reason they won in ninety seven is there were no expectations exactly, and they played free willing and they just played exactly. They just played. And then when the pressure gets on it to you guys a year later, yep, a year later, a year later. People don't understand the meaning of all that.

But it's get on the court, man, get on the court. Feel it. It's the number one thing Arizona can played loosely if they just decided let's go on, you know, I mean, you've been you've been at all of them. I remember being on the court at in the in the Elite eight, I mean in sweet sixteen when they lost his Xavier. You could feel the tension with Arizona, especially in the last minutes. You could feel it. Okay, we're gonna go. All right, we do have
