This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jagn Zaliz on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen, powered by Nova Insurance Services. Hey sure, your most prized possessions, kat z R two SAD and iHeart Radio Station. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty I'm Steve Rivera, He's Jakin ZoZ. We're by ourselves today. We got fifteen minutes if you'd like to give us a quick call to start the show. Five two zero four one six seventy four forty A lot of football

today. Yeah, we had a fun shot, I think. Yeah, Well, Justin Spears he's always fun, right, He'll tell us some things about what's going on in his brain about the game. But the young brain of his, you know, I was just thinking, oh, yes, I know it could be dangerous sometimes, but I'm just thinking, I don't think Justin was born ninety two and when I was going to be Washington and nine. He's like to say, he's even not even a glimmer in his

parents' eye. So if it didn't happen when you were board, did it really happen? Well two kids today? Yeah, yeah, I almost no. You know, they have the most recency bias of any generation ever, no question, no sense of history. You're exactly correct. I hope I was listening to this. I told you about the time that I was sitting in front of some guys at a volleyball match. You have a volleyball match. They were talking about the greatest cards in Arizona history. Mike Bibby was

the furthest back that they went. You know, they didn't go any anywhere before that Mike. You know, nobody. It was everybody after Bibby. Yeah, well was pretty good. It was good. But what I'm saying there were a bunch of guys before Bibby that were really good. Of course, I said, did you guys know that? I turned around, I said, you guys know that the all time assist leader to Arizona was Russell Brown, who played in nineteen seventy eight, And like, who the hell

is Russell Brown? And exactly exactly, no idea. It's like the bo did get off my lawn. It's like when they had the vote, I don't know, six seven, eight years ago whatever, it was the most the all time best mccale moment. Yeah, Derrick Williams, Derek Williams, that would be a register of the top ten for old guys like you and me. But anyways, uh, speaking of ninety two, George Maloo was going to join, which is great, great get for us today. I

found him, I thought him. He took me, took forever to call him. He's he works like on the docks in la in the long Beach. Are you he says, I'm gonna be calling you from We're gonna be talking to you from the some kind of bucket somewhere, some bucket on the on the on the shore or somewhere. So he said, okay, cool. Yeah, but you know he's he was the quarterback in that game.

And you know remember, you know Heath Bray talking about this yesterday. They got he physically got the hell beat out of him two years in a row against Washington where they put up fifty four in Arizona, two years in a row in Seattle and then comes down and turns it around on him and beats him here. So I would love to get some of his thoughts on what that was like that right, those who are right after our times together with

the team. But George was a freshman I think when we were covering him, him, Ronnie Biale, he was a he was a redshirt freshman, and then he played as a he was a freshman and then a red shirting and then he was a redshirt freshman eighty nine, and then you know, he was ninety nine one ninety two. It was the starting quarterback, right, Okay, So I look forward to that. We'll talk a lot about football obviously. What else is going on? We have basketball started yesterday,

softball started yesterday. Uh so there's a lot of things going on right now. It's the busiest time of the year. Kind of rights a second a second level, a second season of sports is is about to get started with you guys, you said, you know, well you got the fall sports baseball and softball getting going. Then you've got uh you know, basketball practices are starting started with the Red Blue game. Yeah, man, Steve,

I know it gets the day closer, you know. Artily, I got I got told last night I'm on the stat crew again for this next all seasons. So you just got told. Well, it's kind of like, you know, it's almost one of those things were it's kind of assumed, but then you don't hear anything. So you go, am I on the crew and then oh yeah, you guys are on the crew though the second tier you guys are, well they are not. And that's the thing. Well, there's the second group of guys I could do. The sister was

like my son Adam, who's who's one of my side kicks. You know, he he knows how to run the computer. So if I, you know, you know, if I if I go down during the game, he's there to do it. So, but there's another there's another group and then I you know obviously do the women as well. So it's gonna be interesting to see how that works season. But it's gonna be fun. I think it's gonna be fun season for both seasons. Yeah, no question, it's gonna be a lot of a lot, a lot of fun. So

jed not today, but the coordinators weren't today. I think that he talked about any who's who's out, who's ou who got hurt last week? Who'll be back? Justin flow? Just he got back. I thought there was another guy too, Well, there are a bunch of guys got hurt on the defensive. Uh, there was somebody on the saw fix with one of the being main guys. It wasn't money money, it was a minute. No, Jake Minder didn't get hurt, but Dustin Flow got hurt. I

didn't know that. I can't think who else. But they had like seven or eight injured. That's good. That's not good. Well, it's not good, and it's okay. And the fact that they still won the game, oh yeah, you know the quarterback. That game's past. I'm talking about looking for No. Look, this team can score, well, you know you look, just I keep going along and and I'm getting Washington's not only I think the best team in the fact, well they're one of the

top two or three teams in the country. No course, what do we talked about before the season started, realistically that if the defense could hold teams to x the errors the offense could score. That's totally oppw totally opposite. Now you're hoping Ken the team hold teams to thirty defensively and Ken they score the right That's that's the thing. The only chance Arizona has to win on Saturday. They can keep under thirty. You don't You don't know that that

can happen. But if they do, they still got to score more than they score score right, right, if you were a gambling man, if you were a gambling man, who's starting, I think off Fafita is starting well. I think you know when look, Jaden Philora walked off the field in a boot, so that that reeks of you know, high ankle sprain or something like that. They've said, no, they've not said word one, but I bet it's like sixty forty though. You know, yeah,

I'll go the other way. I'll go the other way. Why is that just because you think they they're gonna do everything they can to get him out there. Yes, and no disregard to Fafita, but go with the guy who's brought you to this point. Yeah, and then if you can't go bring it through that, that's it would be a tough spot for a Fafita, right to guess, first start against the top ten teen you know that

that that's a tough go. But you also got to have a quarterback that you know, if you're playing against Washington, he's gotta be able to go around. Yeah, uh, that that's part of that's part of Jaden's game. He's got to be able to run around a little bit. And if he's hobbled at all at all. I don't know that you can throw him out there. It's like Burrow last night, did you see him? He

kind of and they were terrible. That won the game. You know, Yeah, they're bad, so, you know, and especially and with Delora, it's you know, it's his right foot. It's just it's his push off foot to throw. So you got to take that into consideration. There's only so much that tape can do right right, especially we're a quarterback running you know, we've seen what you know, what happens when when a quarterback who has to use his feet like that has has an ankle. Is that's

not good. We're four games in and they have are doing nothing on the running back as well. They've said nothing about any of the end the world no more Thursday. Well hopefully here's something on Thursday. But I don't know how much. If you're a jet fish, are you gonna tell Washington Jade Delores starting, No, You're you're gonna say something like we're hopefully he's gonna play. Well, that's what makes them prepare for Well, what do we

say yesterday? Coming off when we left the press coverage? Uh, they kind of got saved with the information, say we have no new information, right, and they could stay with that and then still be saying that they're being honest. Not do that with pretty much all the guys. You Yeah, why give up the information if you don't have to. Yeah, And I don't blame and don't blame him that. I'm sure Washington the same. Put whoever you want out there, and good luck. Your game plan is

still the same. We're gonna we're gonna throw the ball. And and and Jed did say that they're very you know, when we had from very similar corders, just one way more experience than the other. And he said that's the main difference between the two, right, you know, right, because I'm sure you know, Ifafitt is, I'm sure he can run around as well, sure, you know, And we just haven't seen him have to do it, No, we haven't in practice. And he looked impressive to

us. Again, it gets Arizona's defense, But I like him. I think I have no qualms with him coming in and being the replacement because we've seen him. We've seen him in action and even in the you know, he threw four passes on on on Saturday, but his decisiveness, which is what was missing the entire game from Jaden de Laura. He lacked decisiveness through

the whole game. Right, he was going back and then he was fading back further, or he was scrambling, and he was going he just was not finding guys and and and for some reason, No Offa Feeta got in there and he found guys right away, and he threw four nice passes, completed all four of him, and you know they got him to win. So look, I have a belief that Jetfish is gonna put out, put the guy out that thinks they can win with, no matter who it is.

Right, if he thinks to Laura can't do what they need him to do, whether it's because of his ankle or because of just the way he's played this year, then they're gonna throw No off A feet out there because well, he feels comfortable with this is his program, and in order for him to be a good at what he does, he's got to do that. He's got to make those decisions. Yeah, he's getting paid pretty well

to make those decisions. Us. You know what gets me though, a little bit is all the you've got to play No Fafita like guys, I mean he I know, he looked good on Saturday, but he hasn't done all that much, right, you want to throw him out there against the top ten team. I don't assume he's going to be better than Jade de Laura. I see the same things you do, buddy, from different people. The thing is that said, with that tone that you said, I

think they're just tired of Jaden people are. That's what it is. They're just enough of it. We've seen enough and we don't like what we've seen. Let's try to go with the other guy. Well, he said, like you said, four games in, I know, and nothing's really changed right, Well, and you know, and they've got three wins and you and that's what that's what Jas defendsing me. But the three wins against who

the worst team in the pack get you? You know, you're tepping nau and they weren't they beat those guys you know handling well not but you know, but not not. The offense didn't dominate, hasn't dominated any team, you know. Look at you. You're evaluating like I do it. I like it because because if this was a horse and you're picking trying to figure out the forum. This horse of the forum, middle of the pack. Middle you can find better horses probably, And here comes the here comes secretariat

right right right. He could get lap you by twenty laps the stretch lane. And you're gonna say, you know, what are you gonna say? Okay, well, not there yet. Oh we know you're not there yet. But what are you thinking about the eighteen points? Oh? I think it's gonna be more. But let me tell you. I don't think it's gonna be more than eighteen. But let me tell you. I thought Arizona

was gonna cover no problem again Stamford. But then we were talking to the kid from Stamford and we the history of the game, how Arizona's are We struggled again Ken beating them, and then I then I said, what the hell you know? Because you know and then Washington's got Washington's got a bad history in the gate of Arizona. So then there's that. There's that. So my my advice is stay away away from the game, which I will. Soone just takes me who is the new Jay who he drank something he

should not? Haven't had a n app today that it might early do you bet quick. How you're on the R and I and the ball. Hey you guys, Richard, Richard, Hey you got jay. You're saying, you know, washingtonity think's the best team in the conference. Uh, but you know last week Colorado playing Oregon, I overlooked Oregon. Yes, and I'll tell you I thinks overlooked him again at this point would be a mistake. Uh. Their coach. I learned a lot about him. I think

he all did too. Steve you might have mentioned it, but man, his pregame speed, He's a maniac. I loved it. I loved it, loved it great. Yeah, Well, Richard, you know, I mean, did I noticed he hid himself in the forehead? Did you notice that? No? Not miss that? Yeah, he slammed himself in the forehand like it was a beer can. He was smashing it his head. Well, Richard, I will tell you that after watching Oregon, and I watched the whole game, I might you know my order of those top four

it goes Washington, Oregon, Utah USC four games. I don't disagree with you, Washington, Oregon, Utah US I got us USC in fourth place. Who's third? Utah? Well, it's amazing to digress what I su kind of went a holl over USC. That was pretty amazing. But I'm digressing. But you know, anyway, Oregon and Dan Lanny and that guy, I think we got to factor him into this. You know, Richard, Richard, you've been around a long time, do you. Doesn't matter

about those pregame speeches. You know that everybody doesn't. This one just happened. Doesn't matter. Sometimes it depends who's giving it. Dion's really good at it. But I gotta tell you, Dan Lanning and mentioned Hollywood in his speech. Did you notice there? Yes? He did, Yes, he did. I have not heard that. This is how old I am, though, since nineteen seventy three with Switzer invoked Hollywood when we were getting ready to play USC. They were number one in the country. We were number

seventeen in the country. We had a great team. We knew we had a great team, and swift to seven before the game at USC. I don't like Hollywood. They're arrogant. They're over there, shocking and jive, and we're gonna go beat these guys. Yeah, he fired the team up. Man well with the seven seventh tie actually five yard line, we beat him on every statistically, but we should have won the game. All right, Hey, Richard, thanks a bunch. We got to hit the road

because we've got our guest coming in. We appreciate the callers always, Thank you, Thanks, thanks so much. All Right, we're gonna bring you justin Spears here in a couple of minutes. We'll stick around. We're gonna, you know, see what's on his mind. He was at the press conference today, I'm sure, so we'll get what was said today by the coordinators of the player. So be sure stick around for that. We'll be

This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Getzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to all about here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jake. Got a guy Jason Spears from Covin Day. Just what Jason? You know that guy? Just you don't you know what the foot about it? I didn't want to screw up his last thing because

I always joke with him what his last thing? Right? Just justin call me mister Pierce, mister Pierce, justin Pierce. Are you doing today? You're busy? Are you busy? Just a little bit, just a little bit. I'm in the kale right now, getting more done, and then I'm gonna go on over to football practice and see how many guys are in booths and who's practicing and whatnot. So boots were made for walking, they're

made for not walking. Yeah, all right, So justin, b when we mentioned that you were coming on the show, we were mocking the fact that you were not a blip on the radar when Arizona beat Washington in nineteen ninety two, uh two or three years away from from blowing up on Yeah, I was a little less than three years away from being born. That's that's here, because here's here's the other part of that is that my sports

writing career was already over by that time. So that's wow. Wait wait, justin we hold on, hold on, that's to assume that it began. So, you know, Steve and I being the old guys and old guys in the room, you know, we've been talking about this game, you know already the last couple of days at George Malulu coming on this afternoon, he's going to talk about it. But as somebody who wasn't there, what what do you know of? What are your impressions of what happened that

day? Good question of what in nineteen ninety two, right, so I know that Arizona was, uh, we're Washington, excuse me? Was ranked number one in the country. They were coming off their national championship season. I believe that the year prior to that, they absolutely waxed Arizona fifty four to nothing up in Seattle, and in Arizona had a losing season, if I'm not mistaken in nineteen ninety one, So you know, Arizona was certainly

on the come up. They were a rising program. And earlier that season they had in nineteen ninety two, they had tied Oregon State, and Oregon State was just a bad football team, so the fact that they tied them, Arizona was like, what the hell are we doing here? And then they went on the road to Miami and almost beat the Hurricanes. They lost

eight to seven. And then you know, we had Lamont Levin on the show today and he was actually talking about that game and was talking about how they went into that locker room after was really lost in Miami and everyone was crying, and then Brandon Sanders comes in and tells everyone We're not losing another game. And then Arizona went on to win. I believe six in a row right after that, including beating number one Washington. And you know,

everyone I talked about Washington, how they were going to beat Arizona. You know, they were going to come in and take care of business. And then right before Arizona ran out of the tunnel, Dick Tommy comes over to the team inside the locker room and says, let's kick their bleeping asses. And next thing, you know, all the guys get all riled up. They run out onto the field and Arizona takes care of business against Washington.

I know, I think Washington might have been shorthanded, if I'm not mistaken. There was something going on with their quarterback right right, Mark Brunell started, but he was not the starting quarterback who was going into the game. God, I can't remember, but there was a their starting quarterback. He had had taken an illegal benefit or something like that. He's done something. Yeah, he got suspended. Yeah, so I remember, you know,

they were a little bit shorthanded. But he's still the number one ranked team in the country. They were, they were the flagship program of the conference at that time, and you know, beating Washington was such a big deal, and that was kind of like the the coming out party for Arizona's Desert Swarm defense, not like specifically that game, but just that season, that stretch. Rob waldro Of, Teddy Bruski, Brandon Sanders, all those guys.

That nineteen ninety two season was so instrumental to the rise of Desert Swarm as we know it. Well, wow, you did homework? Yeah, well good, yeah, Like that's like an eight plus he had La montagu I listened to you this morning, going home, going home this morning. Yeah, I see. The cool thing is is, fortunately I was able to talk to a guy who gave me the answers to the test. That always helps the other cube notes cool, cool, cool. So how do

you look into it? I mean, you've been doing this a little while now, especially coming this team covering a big game like this. How does it feel for you? It's awesome, you know, and I think that you know, the PAC twelve having four teams rank in the AP top ten, you know, add so much excitement to this season. The PAC twelve is so exciting and Arizona is going to be facing a lot of talented teams, a lot of highly ranked teams, and this is one of them.

And you know, this team might be a little bit different than some of the others, with the exception of maybe USC because man, Washington is so good and everyone wants to talk about their offense and Michael Pennox and all the great receivers that they have, but their defense is also really good too. They have really solid edge rushers. Their defensive line will certainly test Arizona's offensive line, and getting the ball out quick is going to be a very important

thing this week. Whether it's Jaden Dolora and his health in his ankle, we'll see if he's healthy and ready to go, or if it's Noah Fafita. So the defense for Washington is really good in the teens. That's crazy about Washington is like they've scored one hundred and ninety nine points in the first four games of the season, and one of those games they're playing against Michigan

State on the road. Now. I know that, you know, Spartans we're dealing with, you know, all their issues with melt Tucker and and having a lot of turmoil there. But to go to East Landing and put up that kind of performance and just killing Michigan State, I think Washington State has shown that they are one of the better teams in the country. I thought that they were going to get more first place votes for the AP Top

twenty five. I think they only got one this week. But if they continue to play at this level, it would not shock me one bit if we're talking about Washington and the CFP. So you brought up an interesting point. You talked about getting the ball out quick, which, as we've all observed, that's not something as Jaden Delord has been doing this year. You know, I know, he only threw four passes nor fa feed and dead.

But if that's if that's a key, you know how you know, how is Jaden Delora going to fix what he's been doing all season long?

Dude? That's gonna be the tricky part about it. And you know, Stanford, this is probably going to be the worst defense they're facing all season long, and pactwelve play and for Arizona to not have the rhythm and the timing against a team like a Stanford, that's that's a little bit concerning, because now, what is it going to be like when you go up against Utah or Washington or you know, I know USC's defense is a little wonky.

This season, but there's still a much better decent than what Arizona's faced this past We can I guess Stanford Arizona's offensive line couldn't have done a better job. I mean they gave they gave so much time for Jaden Dolora. He could have had a picnic and wash the dishes. That's how much time

he had to throw. You're not going to get that with Washington. And I'm a little more critical of it now because you know, like the offensive line is better, the weapons around you are more experienced, they're better. You guys have all been in the system now for a little while. The offense is totally set up for Jaden Dolora to win, but for some reason he maybe gets out of assignment a little bit and starts backing up too deep

into the pocket and risks, you know, huge loss of yardage. There are so many things that Jenny Delora is doing that's just not I feel like, is not within his responsibilities. Now that being staid, he's probably the best playmaking quarterbacks they have, but he's also a guy who's prone to turn

over the ball quite a bit. So, yeah, if if Jaden Delora's ankle is good, to go. I think he's going to play on Saturday, but you know what, it's going to be very interesting if Noa Fafiza gets thrown out there and all of a sudden arizon his offense starts to show life in the first quarter and starts to get into a rhythm and get into a flow, and consistently over the course an entire game, they're actually in

sync and it doesn't feel like everything is being forced. And if that turns into the case on Saturday and jet Fishing to be put in a very tough position, because yes, no Fafiza is the future, but if he's showing you that, yeah he's moving the ball, then maybe you look to make a decision moving forward and put Noah in at the guy. I think Jayden Dolor is capable, But again I look at what I saw on Saturday, and in sixteen plays, the only two negative yardage plays for nolaf Afizza were

the kneel downs at the end of the game to steal the win. Sather, than that, they're getting fifteen yard games, sixteen yard games, nine yard runs. There are no negative plays when nelfa pizzas at quarterback. So that's that's something to pay attention to if he's the guy on Saturday. So the quarterback was Billy Joe Hobert. Oh there it is. Yeah, that's just for that. So justin I want you to put on your columnists hat

now and and I'm gonna ask you this question. So through four games, through four games and the games they played against the opponents they've played, what's your assessment of this team? I think that the offense is almost like a like a Ferrari right now. The offensive line is playing so well. Kenna McLaughlin at tight end is improving. We got you know, the Arizona has

t mac Jacob Cowing, Montan Aelimonis Craig is getting better. Running backs are versatile, you know, Michael Wiley goes down, he saw what Jonah Coleman can do. So the offense is, like I said, it's almost like a Ferrari. But it just depends on the kind of guy who's who's driving it. And Jayden Dolora has been a little too reckless driving the Ferrari from time to time. Were show Afita, you feel very you feel very confident that you're going to give him the keys the Ferrari, and he's not gonna

return it with a couple of scratches on the rims or the door. You know, I think the offense a lot better, and I think the defense has been so much better than we all thought it was going to be. And they've been put in some very tough situations this season on the road, you know, first with Mississippi State, yet all these you know, turnovers with with Jaden Laura, and then on the road against Stanford, you know, the offense kind of struggled to get into a rhythm, and then what

was the common denominator. It was the defense stepping up, getting tackles for loss, putting the offense in a position to keep them in the game. So I think the defense has been so much better than we all thought it was going to be, especially those those guys in that front six with the defensive line and also linebackers like a Jacob Manu who leaves the Pac twelve in

tackles. We're starting to see now the blueprint. You know, Arizona wanted to get all these bodies on defense and get a good rotation going so that way the linebackers can go to work, and they have been able to go to work and Arizona's defense. While they don't have any interceptions this season, which is kind of concerning, I think they've been really good at stopping the

run and also not allowing a lot of big plays. So you talk about this team offensive that's been for our actually more like a tesla that needs to get charged in Wilcox because it can't it can't move. Yet it hasn't really got any Really, we haven't seen the offense that we all thought we would and and I'm not sure we will given the circumstances. Are you saying that Arizona's head coach is Elon Fish or Jed must you pick? You pick him?

We'll write this state together on Fish? Well it, we'll write this together. But Steve, you're right, you know, because I think that with what we saw last season, you know, being the sixth best passing offense in the in the country, and then everyone is coming back like, man, this offense can be really, really freaking good. Now. Granted, tacksball was really good this year offensively, so you know, there are

so many good units on that side of the ball. But again, the slow starts, that's what's the most concerning for me, is the slow starts the turnovers against Mississippi State. If Arizona, if they fixed those up,

I don't think we'd be having this conversation. We'd be talking about Arizona being four and no going into this game against Washington and having a chance to win, because after what I saw last week, I don't see you know, it's gonna It's gonna something very unusual has to happen for Arizona to win this game. What I saw last week, I'm talking about what I've seen Washington do and then what I saw what I've seen Arizona do. I you know, I say, I only think they could. The only chance they have

to win is because they're playing. But you know, if Washington just comes in and does what it does, I don't think Arizona has gone much of a shot. No, and see that. The thing is Stanford. You know, they lost the Sacramento State. They also got boat raced by USC.

They beat Hawaii, but Hawaii is probably the most laughable team in FBS right now, like they are so bad, And for Arizona to kind of look like that and barely squeak one out against a very very bad Stanford team, it would not shock me one bit if we see Arizona just get absolutely killed. But you know what, for some reason, I have a weird feeling that Arizona might have some tricks up its sleeves. Again, We'll figure out what's going on at quarterback. We'll see what happens there. But who

knows, You never know. I thought USC was going to go in and beat ASU by seven touchdowns last weekend, and the Sun Devils, to their credit, they stepped up and made it an interesting game. Maybe Arizona can do something like that against Washington. But this Huskies team at this is this is one of the best in college football. This is a very tall task for Jet Fish, and one could make the case this is arguably the biggest home game of the jet Fish era. So times, very very true,

very true. Justin, thank you very much. Just get some sleep, yeah, get a nap or two before the game on Saturday. Thank you, guys. I always appreciate the time man Justin Screws like him. Yeah you know what I mean. Yeah, I mean, you know he's got a good a good sense of you know, he's seen what we're seeing, right, Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what the Ferrari though, because if it is and he's it needs to go to the shop. Well, what would he saying? It's a nice car, but the person driving here

just driving over the debts. I use that analogy with Sean and he had a he had a Ferrari and he drove it like a prius. Yeah, I mean that. And that's the issue, is that you got a guy who's just not not doing a good job maneuvering with it. And so that's sort of a good analogy. So so so if that's the case, don't you change the better driver or a different driver just to see Yeah, we'll see. If you got it, you want to call five two O foe seventy four forty. We'd appreciate your call. I'm I've been a little fired up about

this game Saturday, partly because you know it. You know, we feel like we've learned a lot about this team, you know, and the fact that they're not playing as well as you expected them. But you know, now they're up against your backs against the wall, so to speak, you know, playing a team that should come in here just beat the hell out of them. But interested to see how they handle that. Do they come out and play well, play better, you know, stay with them.

I think what you know, what you saw as you do to you against USC on Saturday, gives you a feeling like maybe they can. I still don't think they're gonna win, or I certainly like to see them play well and not get beat you know, you know, fifty two to twenty eight or something, like that. Yeah, I don't see it that way. I don't see it your way. I can understand why you see it that way, because they ever so you can never look at Arizona say this is

this team, because they're never the team that you think they are. Right and you know this better than me because you've lived it every chance you say they're out to get in, every time you say they're out to get in. Last week, they should have killed Stanford, honestly, well, they

should have beat him by more, should have handled and they did. But that's that's kind of like the they're the they're the Dick Tomy of college football or Arazon football be when he talks to the media, he was opposite of what he should be right exactly, Well again, you know, I mean you know he's Bray brought it up. You know yesterday the week before they went and should have beat number one in Miami and their place. Yeah,

they tied Oregon State. Yeah, it's just weird how it happens. We talked about this when they beat Oregon here twenty and fourteen ish, I think fourteen. They lost the previous week to to who did they lose to? Watching the state team, they should have never lost, right, you know, and so it's it's like you don't know what. And that's what I like about this game. Though I don't think Arizona's got a shot in hell, they have enough of a shot for me to be interested in going to

see this. I have a shot. I get it. I get it because it's it's unexplainable. Look, and these games are fun, whether you know you think you're gonna get your ass kicked or not to bring a top ten team, you know, to Arizona Stadium. It's a night game, which is great for it. I love the night game. I mean, I love the day games too, but a night game Washington in town, the weather's gonna probably be pretty decent. That's fun as hell. You know.

I'm really looking looking forward to it. And apparently they're gonna sell out or be close to it. Well yeah, well Jedi'll tell us more about that on Thursday. But you know, I'm looking forward to, you know, a big game, you know, because previous previous big games have not really been a big game because you knew they were getting their ass kicked. This time, you think they are, but something weird can happen, and you know, you know that at least Jed's gonna put a team on the

field that's gonna try and give themselves a chance. Yeah, you know. And then this whole question Markham of the quarterback, it makes it even more intrigued. Let me say something that I probably shouldn't say, but I think that the FAFITA gives them a better chance. He might, but I don't know that we know that. Well, that's the thing I'm not. I'm not going out on a limb here because he might give them a better chance. But he could get out there and yeah, well you wouldn't expect that

he would freak out. Sure he could, sure, you know. But let's let's let's assume for a second that Justin's analysis is correct where they says they're gonna get after the quarterback. Right, he's not gonna have very much. Wouldn't you like your chances a little bit better? With computer? Feel like he got you know, in the time, he got them all out, and that, I mean, that is flat. The one thing, the one thing cannot noticeable. Did you go back last night and watch then't

haven't gone back? Do you don't do your homework? I don't do my homework. Okay, No, And I was just thinking about the energy that they came with and that his to me, he's just trying to do too much and for whatever reason, Yes, I don't know, well that that's exactly. It's it's like, there may be that there, but I think

I got something better over here than the next thing. You know, he's got nothing, then he's got nothing right, you know, try trying to trying to do too much, as they say, And he's been that guy, you know. And the thing is that other times it showed its face, is that he's been where he sees the guy and he makes the throw that he shouldn't make. This time, he wasn't even making the throw. Yeah, he was just running around. Yeah. And let's say this.

I didn't watch the game like with the surgeon's eye, but maybe Stanford played out of their mind and maybe they did. And again, your teams do that, and maybe they were really upset at the fact that they got beat by Sacramento. I was just going to go there because in my story I had this one line, did Stamford lose it or did Arizona win it? Right? They missed two field goals? Yes they did. Yeah, they I'm sure they walked away thinking their storyline is toty different storyline, story different.

Yeah, how do we hit those two? They win the game, He win the game, and they hit one, they win the game. Yeah. Yeah, it was just like the Mississippi State game. You play better, you win the game. The thing is, you didn't know because what they didn't turn it over, right, Stanford had no over you know what I mean. They played a really good game that they could have won. Sure, and maybe then you look at it always, Okay, Stanford gave you their best shot at their place, and you still won the game

and to their credit, and that's good. That's a good play. So I don't know, it's just there are a lot of I think, just a lot of uh, we just don't know what we're gonna see on Saturday. I do think it's really important though, for Arizona to not get off to the slow start that they've gotten off to every game this year so far.

They got to get out there and you know, even if they scored two touchdowns and give up two touchdowns, just to get the offense in some sort of a rhythm early, because if they go, you know, no score in the first quarter, they're gonna be down twenty one to nothing, you know, in the second quarter. By that time, you know, the fans they're gone, they're gone, They're done. Yeah. You know another thing, and I'll just say I mentioned it in our in our podcast

post last night. You know Arizona fans are notorious for showing up eventually. Yeah right, yeah, they eventually get there. The place will be full and in the middle of the first quarter. But he's play talk about how important it is for this for this game, and be full at game time. Get out You're right, you're wishing to get you get out there, because it's not that it's not that type of crowds. They'll take their time to get in and then rush to get the heck out. Get the hell

out there. Yeah, come on, get out there, Come to my tailgate and then we'll go all go into the same kombay. I'll get you a chicken legs you get to the game. Yeah, that'll be good. That'd be nice to see, actually, because every time you take the pictures when they're doing the flags and the thing, the stadium's three quarters full. If that well, and I still hate the way the band walks on the field, if maybe the band would do something give people a reason to get

there. Well, in fact, you wish you'd get the band guy here. Well we talk about this and the Zoo people, right, Zoo people do something, damn game, Maybe do that tomorrow, be high. Look at you, Luke. All of a sudden you turn into Luke. Never cuss. I've been I've been railing on this for twenty years. I know, well, you got the notchos fixed. There's that. Well, I know you've been touched to the wrong people. Yeah, I have been.

I have been. I do remember bringing it up to I think it was I brought it up to James Francis when James was and he said, it has a lot to do with the timing of what goes on pre game. What's in terms of when the team goes on the field, off the field, how much time they've got in between all that kind of stuff. I'm like, fix it for the band, do you mean? Yeah, for the for the for the band to have time to do some sort of a

thing. I'm like, fix that. You can fix that. You can tell Jess, hey, Jed, get off the field one minute sooner. Right, We're gonna do a one minute you know, band uh entrance. I don't think that that's not that hard. It's not it's not that hard. Well maybe, but it doesn't seem like I don't know, it doesn't seem that hard to me. I'll know. I'm it up to Jed. Jed will get it done if he thinks it's important. Okay, yeah,

Jed. One last question you Jay Jet can you get can you do something to get the band to do some kind of entrance when they come on the field. That'll get the fans fired up, that'll get the fans there early. It's an I saw the Wisconsin one in person. Yeah, I got goosebumps. This is more of us. Can I get you on the side question? Talk to you real quick about something. I got goosebumps watching the Wisconsin band to feel back with Maca Vicstein up there. I mean, I

got chills. Yeah, I've seen I've seen the video of those things. You know. Yeah, I got chills watching that. And I've and I've watched the Ohio State Band entrance over and over on YouTube, thinking God, if everyone could just do something like that, people would show up, people would get there early. Well, we'll just bring the grambling band back. Well, I don't think we can do that. We don't have a lot of people stayed for they don't have the same team colors, a lot of

still a lot of people stay for that band. Okay, cool, good, good, first Tower. We're gonna come back. You're gonna you're gonna do your dear little uh some breaking news, a bunch of a whole bunch of stuff. How are we gonna do this? How we're gonna do this? Are we're gonna go to twenty Are we gonna spend the first because you're not gonna have twenty minutes of talking because George, my little we'll do our regular break and then just bring him. And then they're calling us. No,

no, we're calling him. Okay, we'll be on the field somewhere. You know, we'll plan this out in the next break, because we plan so far ahead on everything, and baby, we can't get out of the kind of show we are. Man, we win't get every time. Is that. Well, we'll figure this out during our break, but come back, we're gonna do breaking news, and then George F Lulu, we'll

talk to you. Get some of his memories of that ninety two games that we've already been talking about for the last couple of days, so be sure you stick around
