This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jakin Zalis on Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services. Hey, sure your most prized possessions katz R two SI at iHeart Radio Station. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve Rivera, he's Jakin's ass. We're running solo, so expect mistakes here. We are one. You've had some confidence and I pushed the button. I know the history of our program. I'm going with the trend. I
hear you. You got Monday dogs, I got Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday's afternoons. Ste Barrow something like, I hear you, but probably not, probably not. We've done well, you've done fantastic. Who might have said about running the board? I don't even touch that thing's blind sorrel's I believe in the blind sport. Yes, okay, Hey everybody, if you guys want to call in, please do. We've been getting some pretty good calls to five two oh foe seventy four forty. I think we have a great
show today. We do. This is gonna be fun. Jim Live and good. Well, look two guys that are from the let's call it the previous generation of college sports, right before nil, before chance reportals, we had access all this stuff right when we used to have access before social media, before social media, right all that. Uh, and so we'll get you know, we'll get their take on how, you know, God,
would they even like to be doing what they were doing? Right? Jim Livan good More rath leg director Arizona, Washington State UNLV and then Bob Davy at football coach Notre Dame, New Mexico. He's a TV guy now, former former you know, former assistant coach at Arizona. You know, they've they they've been around a while, They've seen a lot, they're still involved. Right, what do they think, you know, what do they think about the fact that next year the Pac twel was gone. No, we'll
talk all about that interesting stuff. But I haven't seen Jim. We had gym earlier this year. We've had him on in March March ish. Uh. We just I said, you know, okay, let's trying to get back back on see what he's up to and then get all this new take on it. Yeah, he's been gone more than ten years now, twelve thirteen years because Burn through the Greg Burn and Davey. Yeah, yeah,
late to two thousand, he's the one to hire shot. So two thousand and nine ish, two thousand and nine, I think it was his last year. Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean it's uh, let's see, I'm trying to look him up. Yeah, it's two thousand nine, two thousan ten because he got shot in two thousand and nine. The citizen clothes then, So that's kind of how I remember things. Yeah, so you know, you know, but a guy who again he was seen a lot and looking he was at Arizona at a time when you know, there
was a lot of growth and a lot of success. Things happened, a lot of success. Yeah, you know, some call at the Golden Age. Yeah, so I think I have. I don't know, you've kind of nodded your head. Yeah, don't you think, Well, go ahead,
I don't want to interrupt yourself. That's so. So I think the guy who started at all, the guy who was obviously Cedric, right, he planted the seeds, well, Cedric Cedric aggressively went out and tried to do things to uh improve not just an individual sport, but just Arizona program profile as a as a as a national and he did that, you know,
and he did that by hiring Luke. He got he got the football program with Larry Smith and and Dick Tommy going, you know again, like you said, you know, Mike Andre made a lot of moves that got
the balls rolling. Jim Live and good kind of took it to you know, the next step, particularly with you know, with the with Arizona basketball and the profile that it continued to establish, you know, brought football along where you know, through the Dick Tomy years, became a you know, a top program in some seasons, you know, but certainly when they got talked about a lot a large part because of a desert swarm and all that
stuff, you know, and then turned it over to Greg Burns. So you know, I think it's it's, uh, you know, he's a guy that and look like anybody, right, like like anybody in a position like his, they're always detractors. People said he's doing a terrible job for this sort of course of course, right. But when you look back on it today and you look back on his time here, you think pretty well of it, don't you. Yeah? No, I I yeah, and
you're not revising any history either. No, you're just saying the facts. And I think there's more. Uh. Isn't a business you have more positives and negatives. Uh at the end of the day. Well, when you think about the facilities and things like that that they started started to build, you know, all that a lot of that started to happen when uh.
Yeah, I think though he was kind of he was at the tail end of that, and then Greg came in and raised a few dollars and it started being and getting the football arena, football hysteria up up to up to speed. Yeah, so I think that uh, you know, look, he was friendly a guy as that could be one of those guys who, hey, let me say something, who knew your name? Yeah, who shook your hand, shook your hand? I mean you you know, you may be mad him twice, yet he knew who you are. And guy
guys in those positions do that. Greg Byrne was a master at that. Yeah, you know, Okay, Yeah, we're gonna say Greg was good at it, but I think he was more and I'll say this publicly, he was more of he his his his shaking of the hand was more of Yes, he would. I'm not gonna deny that. But depends the higher profile the person, the more shaking of the hands. Yeah, like anybody though, I mean he doesn't do that. Well, you gotta treat kind of people equally. Yeah, it might, it might. You know what
I'm saying. You know exactly what I'm saying. No, I I yeah, no, I know, I'm gonna say. Here Alive and good went to u n LV and two thousand and nine nine, right, So how long was he well after he left after after young of a gap? Oh? Was there from when he left a and started at UNLV. Oh, it was just right away, right away, he was right away. Yeah, he's right away. He was here for fifteen years, Yeah to nineteen eighty four. So, you know, a great time, great time,
good guy. We had our run ins, but you know we got him solved right away. You know, you have to ask questions. Sometimes he doesn't like the questions. Well you know what, well, yeah, and you know what, but he always he never looked Maddie. No, No, he was fair. He was he was fair, which is which is what Dave Hickey does. Right. I think I think he's really good at that because we've asked him some things, and you know, sure, and and he and he understands that we have to ask those things, so he
just tells you what he can. No. No, he's been very straightforward with us. We can joke with him and not joke with him, and he understands our situation. I think too that the eras of our time and today's time are totally different, you know, way different. You know, the access to these guys is very little. Thank god, I don't have to do it now. I'm sure you're happy too. We're a little bit that we do. I'm frustrated with our little access we can, right you
know. You know we got Jet fifh twice a week fifteen. We gotta get him on this show. Yeah, and you know why I say that. I know he would come on, I know if we can. If we asked him directly, you know what, he'd say, Sure, sure, But we have to go through hoops and all, because if we can get the U TEP coach to come on a week of a game, couple of days before the game, we could get our old coach, so we could honestly, am I folding? No, Steve, You're not. You
would think that we could, but let's start asking. We'll start asking. If they continue to say, we'll ask some more, right, because what they're gonna do tell us, No, they're telling us now, yeah, we'll call him out on on the ring. Yeah, it's it's just ja jeto Okay. What we do is not brain surgery, thankfully, because patients
would have died in my in my watch. No, what Steve, What we do is that is that we give We give you know, uh, people, coaches, administrators, whatever, an opportunity, a platform, a platform to say what they what they want to say. Sure, there's things we want to know. Yeah, that's the trade off. We'll ask you some questions, you tell us some things and and you know you can get your you know, your message out and would like to you know, get
the information that our listeners wanting. Sure, that's all we're trying to do, you know, not You and I aren't investigative reports. We're not we're not trying to find out have you been uh, you know, having phone sex with some lady that you shouldn't be having phone sex. We're not asking those questions to ask, right, really, fun, We're just we're just trying to find out, you know, how things are going, you know, anything new coming up? You know, Well, you asked him a
question he had He wasn't uncomfortable. He was joking with you, of course about the the usage of the running back trade. Yeah, I'm about going to tell you Ja, I can't tell that. That was kind of funny. And then he didn't. Then you did. Then he gave us an answer. It wasn't everything that I was hoping it would be, sure, but it was the answer that he was willing to get. Fine, you know, and I didn't both sides. That's all okay, So we'll try
to do that. Like I said, it's not brain surgery. We just talk about stuff on the no and we try to have we try to have a conversation because it was really fun. I think a really interesting thing that I that I read uh today about Dan Patrick who did did did an interview with somebody and he said, I don't do a sports show. I do a show. Yeah, you know, we talk about other stuff. Yes, we talk about a lot of sports, Yes, but we talk about
whatever. You know, they'll talk about Taylor Swift, they'll talk about you know, music that they like. We'll talk about a lot a lot of talk about food, you know, so and that's you know way I feel like it's a kid to us. That's kind of which was trying to have conversations that we would be having wherever. The one of the most popular stories or shows that I remember us doing that I got a lot of feedback was for when Olivia Newton John died because we kind of went back to our old
little kid days. And you know, who do we have a crush on, you know, black blood, you know, all time women. And because you know why, I heard other dudes our age saying, oh yeah, I remember in Pamela and Pamela from Dallas whatever her name was, Priscilla Presley, all these people, you know they had It's just the stir of conversation, right and that's you know, that's all. That's all. We tried it. Yeah, we have. We try to have fun with it, you know. We we do get into some serious sure, of course.
And and there's there's a very serious one going on right now. Yeah with mouth talking over at Michigan. Well there's one. And you've got the stuff with Colorado State and see what happened with Dolora today, and then that's not gonna go away. That's you know, that's not gonna go. Well, then it won't. And and you know, you know the funny thing about it, Jay, with that, I would have gone yesterday. I don't know, because I was thinking this question. I didn't know the timing
of the story and the start to day. But NORMA thought Norman did a great job. Was that. I thought that Jaden to this point has done a fantastic job. We are kind of blocking the noise if there if there's been noise, right what I'm saying, Yeah, because it's been he's been here. He hasn't been Mississippi or whatever, but he's been in his cocoon here. Yeah. Well he's been. Yeah, you know, he's been.
Whether it's right or wrong, he's been able to just kind of set it aside and and move on. But now this thing has crept up again. We got a couple of minutes. It's just so you know, this whole thing came out because there was this lawsuit that was filed by the by the plane the plane if a victim in this thing, filed against Jane Delora and the other guy that was involved in this. They they came up with
a settlement of the lawsuit. That thing got filed publicly, and that's how it got found out by the by the newspaper in Hawaii, this alleged sexual assault peticularly, I'm gonna say alleged because he's not been convicted of anything. So a judge recently, and I don't know, uh, it was in August thirty first ruling said that the amount that that was settled for by the
victim was too low. That these guys are making more money now because they're getting nil whatever, and there's no no statement as to how much of that
how much it is. But the judges makes me saying that she settled for too low of an amount and he's declined to accept the settlement and saying go back to the table and they set up a mediation for January that he's gonna that that the lawyers and I'm assuming James Delore will have to be a part of to go kind of basically redo this and say, Okay, this is
how much she should be getting. There's no doubt they both both parties want to settle it because if she settled for too low, she just wants to settle this thing right now, they're saying and then the judge is kind of watching out for her to say you're not getting enough out they're sure for what happened, and for the kind of money that these guys part of me that she wants to end this, she wants to get and she she doesn't have
her family doesn't have a whole lot of money too to move forward with it. And then she's, I guess put more owners on the school than the guys, right right, they said, Okay, uh, they're part of it, but so is the school. Yeah. So so that's what's happened. So this thing is hanging out there again. Now I suspect because now nothing happens until a mediation in January that just okay, this has happened.
Let's move on and we'll take care of it in January. And then look that that's not a coincidence as to why they said it for January as opposed to October, November, September. Rights over an opportunity for for him to take care of his business. Because part of this is if if if the judge saying she should be getting more money, well he's got to go out and earn that money. Yeah, right, So they're they're just getting and it kind of gave a hint how much he was making it in il the
car he was driving things like that. So so okay, so let's let's take the break. Yeah, come back with mister Lavin good Jim. Yep, we will have Jim. I'm a good coming up right over me in a couple of minutes. So you stick around and then we'll take your calls.

This is I on the Ball on Fox Sports fourteen Theory. Hey, welcome back to Why on the Volcano on Fox Sports spurteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, He's Jakin's Austin and I want to phone. We have former YU of A athletic director Jim Live and good and Jim, how you doing good? Steve to deal with you? And Jay absolutely
doing great. Great to have you on the show. We had you not too long ago and maybe in March talking a little hoops and stuff. Let me see this My guess, and I don't think I'm wrong with this, is that your happiest hell for not being a D anymore? You know? On see that as a capital h okay, a capital h on hell.
I mean, holy, how this stuff changes every hour, not by the day, week or month, but every hour now to my knowledge, something hasn't changed and snoop so shape right, But you're right, No, this is a great life right now to and I feel for Dave and everybody else who's in this business right now trying to make sense of things and wonder what the next thing unless to do is Well, well, let's let's ask you that, because you know, I mean, I know you're you're still a
fan. You still you know, pay attention to all the stuff. You know, you were, you were in the middle of it for so long. What's what have been some of the conversations you've had with guys who are still in it, whether it's Hikey or somebody else that you know that you know from your past with maybe it's still an athletic director or you know, it's still involved with the program, whatever. What kinds of things do you hear that they're going through. Well, you know, with guys, the
biggest thing is and I talk to people every day. I mean, that's one of the things that kind of keeps men just is going, and it keeps me young, so to speak. The worst guys in the profession right now, guys were retired out of the profession, and that's all across the country. The thing I think that gets all of them mostly, the biggest thing right now is is not knowing what the next shoe is. What's the
next shoe to drop? If we know there are going to be things everything, as much of the public might think right now, you know, things are settled. You know, we've got things broken into these conferences and we're just waiting to see what's going to have to the coops and the beavers. But most of the things are settled. They're not. I mean, guys, are are so many things I think that are going on behind the scenes and that that it's crazy. So that's what keeps the people who are in
the professional week. The other people are just thinking they're lucky stars. And when they go to sleep tonight at I put their head down, the fellowinsay, hey, thank goodness that somebody else can do that today. You must have been and I don't want to put words in your mouth, but disappointed or alarmed or whatever word. When the word came out that the PAC twelve was no longer or back then, absolutely I wasn't shocked, but because but
I'm not a soothsayer. So I certainly don't try to think that all the answers, because you guys both know that I don't. But I was shocked because of all the history, you know, going back to the City Coast Conference, the Pack eight to Pack ten, the PAC twelve, that they're just and you guys, I know I've talked about this before, but there's just so much historical perspective and having dealt with so many people over the years
who were part of all of those things. That's hurtful thing right there. And yet at the same time, like most you both Jay, you and Steve Folk know this, it's not about where you've been, it's about where you're going, so those kind of things. It's not trying to be a futurist right here, but it's about today and tomorrow and what next week,
next month. Now, I said that with regards to that that you know, the Fact twelve, it is about this year because there's still a PAC twelve to play in everything, whether it's football, basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball, baseball, everything. So yeah, it hurt just because of having all those years between ridicularly between Washington State and Arizona, having been part of this great conference. So put yours. Maybe I'm gonna ask you this,
put yourself in the shoes of the Washington State Athletic director. You were there, you know, you know, you probably have a good sense of the culture. You know the things that it stands for, the things that it's been. And now they're in this position where they're sort of in limbo. I mean, how how would you be handling that? Well, you know, the hardest thing. And I know Pat Royle pat Chung has been a friend for a long time. I mean back that they work for Jane
Smith of the Ohio State and he's a really good athletic director. They've got a good president, Kerk Schultz, and I have a lot of friends who are sugars. Whether it's on the west side of the side amounts that. The answer to the question j I think in terms of anybody can say, well, if this would happen, I do this, We do that. I think the biggest thing right now is finding throughout what is the most stable thing that we can possibly do as a relation to the cougars and the beavers,
and then how are we going to face the fight? Other words, the fiscal part of this thing and of all the other things going on. That's a proven real thing because the amount of money that's going to be different regardless of whether there's a merge one way or another with a Mountain West, with somewhat the AAC is involved a little bit or whatever, there's going to
be a massive propet revenue. And how do you do those kinds of things that they're trying to do with the number of programs are trying to do it for student athletes? I mean, how so that's the biggest thing right now and the next September twenty three of looking sad because of these things. I mean, you know this you talked about. Just think about the scheduling aspect that because here and that means so the massive parts of the parts of the
parts. That's the answer to what I would do right now. I would and I know they're doing this is get the break people you can with the best thought you can in terms of what is that next step. And and of course the legal the legalities of all this, and Jay that you with your brothers, the British background and things like that, he's going to stand it better. There's just much legalities and still there to be figured out. That the fact help and money AND's golle. So guys, there's no there's
no one shoe fixall. There's no in the answer. It's not a thing that well we'll do a B and say and then we'll be okay. I'm just a really tough thing in a really short time drink. It's all so in all this, like you said, you don't know what things changed from hour to hour, seemingly your day to day. Uh. And since two thousand, let's say twenty twenty. Uh, you talk about nil they image and likeness, You talk about the turnover of the PAC twelve pack twelve,
you talk about the pandemic and the money lost. I guess there were forty five million dollars in debt, right right. I think so many things have happened, and it's not a quick fix. All this is not a quick fix. You kind of have a lot of balls in the air. Say there's a ton of balls in the air, and you just absolutely by saying what you just said, I just reached on the corner of my desk for my bottle of Ecceedron to mc cedrin. Even though I'm not involved that way.
It's just thinking about it. The number of balls. And again just to think that you mentioned right there, you know, the realignments and so on, the NI hell that the portal so many moving parts that in some ways, and you guys know this, in some ways that affects All those things are interrelated. All of those things affect each other. And it also affects universities in terms of the development fund, rage and how that goes on
in terms of the activists or the university. So there are so many things. Anybody who says they have an answer or has to figure out, they won't work another hour in the rest of their life because they will make that much money on the consulting tour. Yeah. So you know, one of the things that we always ask, like we want to talking to a coach or a player, you know, how do you watch the sport that you were involved in? Right? We had Randy Robbinson yesterday we were talking about,
you know, how does he watch a football game? You are an athletic director for all these years, how do you digest college athletics? So you know, what do you pay attention to? Uh, you know, were so many things going on, but say there's a football game in Arizona. Football game, or are you an LV football game or you know, basketball game or whatever. How do you digest your sports having the experience that
you have, Jay, It's a great question. I think the thing I do now at this stage in life, and that my career and so on and so forth with kids and grant kids and so on. I really try to watch and enjoy it for the enjoyment and not think of all the ramifications because if I get too deep into the ramifications of what that touchdown pass might mean or if it was you know, last weekend, whether it's the Wildcats and the UTAB and I thought the Cats played great, but the Colorado Colorado
was taking the number of kind of things. So I try not to get my head get too much in the way of my heart and just kind of enjoy it for the spirits event, because I couldn't do that the days that I was working in AD because everything was so important in terms of bottom line and other kind of things. What was the crowd like, what was the weather like? Uh, what was the injury situation like? And regardless, it wasn't just football because in everything, the kinds of things, what could
what could happen later today that we don't know about that. We had no idea. I mean, just last night's a great example in terms of Nick Chubb and the running back to Cleveland, in terms of how hard he's worked. So I'm not trying to the philosophical guys, but there are just so I've watched it and answer your question. I just try to watch it now for the pure enjoyment of young people competing and trying to do the very as
they can. And then you know what the greatest thing is. And I care about the wildcats, and I care about the Cougar, I care about the rebels, and I care about the Saluti. Care about all those things. But I don't have to wake up or go to bed Saturday night and wonder what I feel like when I get up Sunday morning. No, no, without questions, without question. I remember talking to you a number of times about this. It's like it's like back in the day when we talk,
you had five hundred and fifty. I don't know how many student athletes back there, but they're all kids, and something overnight could happen. And the worst thing when you get a call past midnight, you never get a good call as midnight, right, see if we talked about that. You know, so many times you never knew my dad, just to say that anybody that fellows you after midnight, quoth or whatever, nobody's ever calling you to say, hey, you know what a fuck your birthday tomorrow are.
When I got calls after midnight, typically something was wrong that needed and immediate attention. It was most things that we'll say, hey, Kbosi late at night, we'll talk about later all No, it was something that needed media attention. So and that's true in life, guys, for you, guys, for everybody when you get calls, and it seems like there's a correlation that the earlier in the morning that the call came after midnight, the more
serious it was. Right. Hey, the nice thing now is I don't worry about those kinds of I worry about it in terms of kids and grand kids certainly, but I don't worry about in terms of student athletes, because you're right, with all the number of different directions we would have going on
with student athletes and all of our different sports. Hey, young people are young people, and sometimes they're not always going to make great, sometimes not even good decisions based on time, place, and where they are So one another thing that we talked about back in the day you came you left Arizona nearly at the beginning of the social media at times, and the Twitter and the Facebook and all that. I'd like to call it crap, but back
in the day, it was the start of it. And I know, being in your office one time and you said, you know what, Steve, you could tell those comments or some of the comments back then we're coming like after midnight and people on the internet kind of trolling and say, you know, Jim Living Good socks and the Specimo tief sucks and blah blah blaces. Yeah, I don't pay attention to that because it's that two o'clock dude. Right, he's got a few bubblies and you know he's just talk now
you hear at twenty four seven. Well, Stevens exactly right, and those kind of things. I mean, that was one of the things that you're right, I missed a good part of that during the time here at Arizona. And the amazing thing and of course it's it's more true now, much more true every day now is people on whatever device, not just necessary to the cell phone, but whatever device you're using the minute you and I'm talking generically, guys, not to you both that the minutes to hits Sam.
It's Sam. It's not something that well, we can recapture that. And so many things are done now for and you understand this better than I do, because you guys are in the profession. So many things are done for flip. So many things are done for sound by, so many things, things that whether it's a student athlete or an athletic director or a coach or whomever, so many things are done that if you just had a little bit, a little bit of time to kind of rethink that, we probably wouldn't
say it because you know it's going to be a sound bite. You know it's going to be something in somebody social media circle that's going to be out there. And once it's out there, guys, it seemed as a fossil. I mean, once it's out there, it must be true because it was Hey I saw online? Yeah, absolutely right, one more glass thing at least for me. Did you realize, I'm not sure you realized that you created a monster on this little kid from northern northern New Mexico, small
town, northern New Mexico. Now the contest a monster out there. What did you do at Washington State with this kid? He is? He's a beauty. He I say, where he is. It's like having I tell Jeremy and Michelle all the time. I like having another son because basically, you know, my first hitter rationalist Chris was when he was twenty two years old at Washington State when I hired, had had stain shells and the Latin fields met. But he's done an amazing job and he isn't not a hotbed
of hotbeds. Now, I got you guys, as you well know. Now he stayed handsomely for that. Yeah, well it's not like that. He is, he's hurting bread, but he's a dandy, does a great job, and he handles the pressure. Well. He's got a great wife and the two great daughters. And we're the as you probably will know, we're the the god parents too, Sophia. Okay, that's cool, that's very cool. Yeah, well, Jim appreciate, we appreciate the time. This has been fun. We love we love talking to you. You're saying
you're such a positive guy. Right. Steve and I were talking about how all the athletic directors here have really been pretty good. Guys, you know, going back to said Dempsey United, No, Dave's track. But you know that even even when we ask you a question that you just don't want an answer, you always answer it anyways kind of in your case, with a smile on your face. We always appreciate that. Jay for saying that.
I appreciate that more than you know. But guys, you think you appreciate what you do, and anytime I can beself in any way, Hey, thanks for who you are and what you do, both of you, both Steve and Jay. Okay, thank you, Jim, Thank you, Thank you, Jim. Take care the afternoon, so you send you. Thank you, Jim, love and good look talk Really dude who always had a smile on his face. Yeah yeah, and you never knew if the

So yeah, no again, it's really really interested to hear, you know how somebody like that who's been in the position that he was in, how he you know, watches sports right, because when you when you, I mean, I think back to the time that no question, when I left it, when I left covering sports, and I went back to just being a fan, and even like at a U of a football game, I'd be sitting at the stadium, all
right, and I was I was like kind of holding back a little bit in terms of just being an all out fan. Yeah, you know, I was still take it. I didn't see quite right for me to be jumping up and down and sure, you know, yelling and screaming and stuff and uh and you know when you, as Jim said, you know, you live and die with every game of every ensure, every sport. Sure,
right when you're an athletic director. But now you know he gets to just kind of sit on the side and let somebody else worry about all the craptic goes on. No question, no, no question. This why I don't get involved like that. Ja. That's and that's the damn rams. Every so many times I get involved because you I want to enjoy the game. I'm not like you. I'm not going to put the juice on it just to enjoy the game. I just want to enjoy the game because I
don't want to I want to avoid the stress. Should I take that as like a shot of the shot across the bout? No, No, not like you, because you you do it, because you do it just you would have I. I you know, I didn't give a crap about even either game last night, nor you would have you right? And I wouldn't have. But you know, I've known over over time in football pool and
stuff like that that home doog on Monday night is a thing. And so I just threw a little you know, I had a I had a free bet, all right, so it wasn't my money, and I put you know, I took a two team part lay on the two homedogs last night and I hit it. Yeah. No, it's fun and it's not enough. It's just who you are, and it's who I am in terms of enjoyment. That's why I don't cheer for the Cowboys. I don't cheer for the red I just kind of watched the game. It's funny because he he
probably has a better enjoyment of things. Now you can just go okay, I mean I can imagine Jim, you know, on a Saturday, you know, hanging out wherever he hangs out, stand on the couch, you know, watching some games, flipping channels and you know why you don't watching Arizona and not. I'm sure he cares, but he knows that. As he said, I don't have to get up on Sunday morning to hear about
it. Yeah right, And and that that that's just an interesting, an interesting way of of going, you know, after you've been in a career like he was in no question, as we get older, as we get older, and now not at the tail end, but kind of near the end, we're glad that we don't have to cover games, I mean covered bike. The calls, well, we kind of talk about them. We're react reactor, We watch them and pay attention, but you know, we
just have whatever our natural reaction. We're not digging into it, right. I mean the conversations you know I have with you here, I'm having with you know, my friends that I hang out with when we talk about the game, it's kind of the same conversation. I think you and I go a little deeper because we you know, we should. We know, that's what that's what people listening to us on you know, are hoping to get
from us. But in a large part the conversations we're having in here, our conversations that I have with whoever, sure, Sure, and it's it's you know, I think our crowd is the older crowd. We skew a little older, which is which you know, our our demographic, which is fine, which is fine. It's just fine. No, it's good to have them on the show. Anybody, We got about six minutes. If you feel like calling, give us a call. We'd like to hear from you. A lot of stuff going on. The Delora thing, somebody.
Another guy just sent me the Delora thing. We talked about it. All right, we'll see how that plays out. But I don't think the next eight games. Eight games, yeah, eight nine games. I'm still hopeful that that it's gonna be. It's not gonna be easy on him on the road. It's not you know, he's you know, they gotta go to well. Yeah, they don't give a crap about stuff like that. Yeah, but yeah, but you know, but they do if they have something
to mock before they will. Actually they're very good at that. I mean, the band has been kicked out of games for stuff. They look to the best, the best places to ever sometimes ever watch a game, Maples Maple's Court. Maybe those dudes were still Obviously they're smart, right, and they're smart assets exactly. Yes, we have a caller. You're on the air and I on the ball. Hey Jay, this is done. How
are you guys doing? Pretty good? Don what's up? Hey? Something that's kind of lugging me right now because I haven't heard anything is going forward next school year in the Big twelve. Are we gonna have a viewing option like the Pac twelve network to be able to watch the non revenue sports, you know? Because yeah, I think they're working on that. Yeah.
I think I think that with the new contract, you you're you're probably gonna need something like ESPN Plus, you know, to catch some of that stuff because you go on there, like go on this, I know, just I don't know if you have any an ESPN Plus accompany. If you go on ESPN Plus and you look through the directory of stuff that's on, it's all that stuff. So that's I think. I think that that's where you'll a lot of stuff on there. Yeah, so done. I think that's
where you'll find it. So done. How vigilant are you doing this for minor sports? Well, I mean, my granddaughter was born almost a year ago, and I didn't get to go to any base ball games this year, so I watched a lot of UFA baseball on the network. I watched a lot of some of some of the softball. And then when you see when you see women's basketball against the ranked team, or the volleyball team in a match or whatever. I would watch. I would watch UFA Sports like
every other day. It seems like for you, well, you're gonna have to you know. You realize though, there's now sixteen teams in the league, so it's probably gonna get spread a little dinner. But I would imagine things like women's basketball, you're gonna see a lot of that. I believe. It's like, I think that's the deal, right, isn't it ESPN plus work. All that stuff is gonna be because there's not gonna be a PAC twelve network anymore. Yeah, but a lot of a lot of the
games that were on the PAC twelve network we're on that. We're on the app anyway. We're like, especially the UFA baseball games, there was a camera behind home plate and no sound, no nothing, and there's a game, well then you could just watch it. Those are things that those are things that the schools do. They can, you know, if a game is not going to be on a network, they can do their own broadcast.
And that's where you see. It's kind of you know, the product is kind of minimal, but you still you still get the game, right, whether it's a softball game. The schools can stream stuff on their own, and the UA does a good job of that, and I hope, I hope they continue it. It'd be nice for it to be on a format like the PAC twelve network or if it's if it's ESPN Plus, that's
great. You know, hopefully the Big twelve poaches a bunch of that, the PAC twelve network folks, right, because you said, I wonder what's gonna happen to people like uh like Yogi Roth, Ashley Adamson, you know, all those people that do the studio shows that you'd like to think that they'd have somewhere to go, whether it's the Big twelve or wherever. Yeah, it would be nice because it's it was good programming, Yeah it was. It was a bad plan the way they launched it, and then they
never launched a NAP. I mean, we could have They could have made up a lot of the money that the pack the old PAC twelve teams were looking for. They could have made up a lot if they would have just sold it as a NAP as a streaming service, right, because I would have bought it instead of using somebody else's password. Oops, did I say that out loud. Who do you live? Done? I live? I live over on the West Side. Alright, alright, don we gotta ru
appreciate it. Thanks Budge. I have a good one. Guys. Yeah, you know. I well, okay, you know Direct TV doesn't have Sunday Ticket anymore. So I greatly trained off my my daughter's student account, you know, for a couple of years for Sunday Ticket. Now I'm paying full price for you know, it's nearly five hundred dollars. Oh wow. Well I split it with my brother, okay, because you can do you can, so he can watch it. I can watch it at the same
time. So there's a couple of I paid. It's actually it was turned out to be four hundred and eighty dollars who paid. So that's how we're different. I just turned on the Red Zone and I'm i gotta watch my games. I'm gonna watch my games and watch my team. I look an easy Sunday morning, so it makes it for an easy Sunday morn. You can flip channels and watch whatever you want. I'm gonna I'm gonna say the Sunday Ticket now much improved over in terms of watching multiple games all at once.
Okay, okay, look better. It's five hundred bucks. Yeah, it is. It is, and you and you gotta you gotta know how to navigate it to it's it's not you know, it's a it's a totally streaming thing. But I sat down and watched, you know, because first weekend of the NFL, I was I was in San Diego, so I really couldn't do it. But uh, this last Sunday, man, I was a couch potato, had a great time. All right, let's take
our break, breaking news and topping the hours. Turn mad and you believe you later when you be alot, you have
