So the Major League Baseball playoffs have started today. There are four wild card series too in the National to in the American first game of the day the Texas Rangers uh uh one at Tampa Bay for zip uh this first round of game, first round of series. It's wild cards, and then there's two one divisional champion from from from each league. The two top division champions
both got buys in each league. So these series it's it's it's Texas at Tampa Bay and the higher seed their best two out of three, but the higher seed gets all three games at their place. So if you're on the road, you're on the road for the whole series. Of Texas surprise beat the home team for ZIP, Tampa Bay in Tampa, so they'll lead the series one. ZIP only got to win one more too advance in the In the game going on right now, it's the bottom of the eighth, Minnesota
leads Toronto three one. Royce, oh god, Royce Lewis, he's batting right now, has two homers in the game. That was counted for all three Minnesota runs. They are up three one in the bottom of the eighth against Toronto. Minnesota is a home team there for those of you in Arizona about to get started. The Diamondbacks, Uh, they're at Milwaukee for their series that starts in about within the next five or ten minutes in Milwaukee,
and we'll see what they've got going on there. But they sneak into the playoffs. I was making fun of my sister. We are watching right there at the go a game Saturday night, and the Diamondbacks clenched and she goes, the damond Backs are in the playoffs, and they said, not for very long, because they're in the bracket with the Dogs. You might have just advanced them. You want to just advance them into the second round. So so they're they're gonna get started here in a few minutes. And then
at about about five h eight our time, it's Miami at Philadelphia. Interesting stat on the on the Marlins, they've been in the playoffs three times ever in their history, but they've won the World Series twice two of those three times. So efficient we'll see how yeah, we'll see how far they go. And then so then you've got the Braves and the Dodgers who are waiting to play the winners of these series. And then you've got, uh, I can't remember on the other side, but well, Houston, I guess.
And who's the number one seed in the in the in the bracket over there, I don't remember. I should know this, but okay, here it is. It's it's Houston and the Orioles. So the Orioles, the Rangers of the Rangers of Tampa Bay. Winner plays the Orioles, the Twins. Blue Jay's winner plays the Astros, the Diamondbacks, Brewers winner plays the Dodgers and the Phillies. Marlin's winner plays to me, the prohibitive favorite,
the Braves. Okay, it should be it should be fun, it should be interesting, all right, some good news and bad news on the UFA recruiting front over the last twenty four hours. The good news is that Arizona landed another top one hundred recruit kid four star right four star name a seven footer by the name of Emmanuel Stephen. He's from from one of those academies up north in uh in Glendale, the Dream City Christian Academy. He took
Arizona over Kansas, Miami, Michigan in the USC. According to two four seven Sports, it gives Arizona a top ten recruit in class goes along with Carter Bryant and Jamari Phillips. Uh, Bryant is I had this hear somewhere Bryant, Carter Bryant is, Oh, Carter Bryant is UH number of sixteen nationally and Phillips at number thirty four. And then you've got Emmanuel Stephen who comes in like at ninety four. Let me ask you something, and I
say this tongue in cheek. I was under the impression that Tommy Lloyd couldn't recruit. He was horrible at this, and you know, you can't win games and you can't recruit. I read that on the internet. I read a lot on the internet April that day that was cussed too, But it's true. You be to tell me I heard all of it. I heard all of it. And I'll tell you again going back to that Red Blue game. You know, I just like the number of guys that they have.
Oh it's good. It's the number of guys that they right have one great, you know when they don't have a Benedict mathod right. No, No, they've got ten guys who looked like there. We spoke about that yesterday with Sammy. I said, ten guys, okay, but realistically, well historically they'll start to whittle it down to like seven or eight. But maybe not. Maybe when you're running up and down the court the way they
run up and down the court. Yeah, it's gonna always be better at half take because you look at you look at the fork river to guys, right, they're kind of all the same guy. Yeah. Well, let me let me say and I've said this publicly to people. I'll say that on the show Keep my Sleeper Dude, My sleeper dude. And I really like him a lot, his philip I really like that. And then you see that he wins the three point contest point and you think, oh,
really, where'd that come from? And and like what I said was I he's he's a better, more shall I say, more polished and more physical version of Pelly Larson. Uh really, I feel that just that he's taller, right, he's a more confident shooter, right right. I think Pelly's a really good defender. He's a really good defender, but he does some dumb things. Well, this is the year that he has to step up.
This just has to happen. He has historically done some dumb things on offense or of eaching, and you feel like he walks on the court he's got all he looks like he's got all the confidence he does, but you don't want the funny thing about it. And he's a French or freshman right to me, you know when you're a freshman, you don't know any better. That's him, Yeah, because you you do real and you don't know,
well, I don't know I'm supposed to be here. It was kind of like, yeah, even on the print on the on press conference thing on the day I said, he was kind of like, oh, I'm
just happy to be here, happy go lucky. And I think this guy really doesn't know what he's doing or how good he is, all right, the bad news on the on the recruiting fronts in football, where Fiona will Hite, one of the two defensive events from from sal Point who was very baally bally hood when he committed Arizona on our show right with with Elijah rushing his you know, his buddy on the line. It's as decommitted from Arizona. He's a three star guy. But uh we saw him very impressive.
You know somebody's come along, well, well you will, you will you immediately assume Yeah, is that somebody's come along and said, you know, come over here, we'll give you X. Yes, yes, but jay, and this is part of the problem, right. You have the locals who are who are dying to be recruited, uh and should be because they're good enough, right. And then Arizona's beloved in this town as anybody as they all shouldn't be. But but then you have some carrot or golden star
over here shining on you. Uh and and maybe and maybe this is not an escape for for someone in them they realized, well, we're Arizona and we're not gonna get him anyway. That's why we're not going to recruit you. Although that's an at lame excuse, alame excuse. And now now you don't blame the kid, right if yeah, I mean yeah, because if your son is being recruited and but Arizona and you make the commitment and you're
happy and you're thrilled, and then Texas are whomever comes in. Here's a bag, here's a bag, and you'll play and you'll get this and get that. What are you gonna do? No, yeah, you look, it's it's just that's the game that we have. Now, that's what that's what we're dealing with now in college. But we've always had it. We've
minus the money because they they would decommit. Sure, they would decommit for whatever reason, right because you know, look, if you if if you've committed to Arizona and all of a sudden, oh how stake kids, you go call exactly that you know maybe you know or you know salth points halfway through their season, maybe somebody has seen him that wasn't wasn't around before now they are. Now he didn't say I'm going here. He just said I
decommitted from Arizona. Maybe stay mill wind up at Arizona or with somebody's apparently has come calling that wasn't hauling before. You just don't do this on a whim, right, you just don't do this on a whim. No, No, there there's there's there's something in play there. Who knows what the heck it is, but it's certainly not uh, it's it's gonna this is gonna happen more and more, sure, more and more often. Sure anyway, all right, soon as he's playing Colorado this week, So we're starting
as if we weren't already seen enough Deon Sanders stuff. But you know, there's starting to be some whispers and I'm just gonna say this that you know, we're at the time about it, Well, how long is he? You know, he's gonna go to a Florida State or he's gonna go to you know, some big job that opens up in college. What about the NFL. No, he said he's not gonna do that. I would say the big school though. The thing about it with that, it'll be him
sticking to his word that he's gonna stay here for a while. He loves Colorado apparently, But but what what school any school would want him? On the just for the marketing value. What if his kids get drafted to US place. I don't I don't think that. I don't think that because deon'sdon, right. But if you're talking to another NFL dude, Okay, Dan whatever, you know what I'm saying, it's you're not on that level.
But but that would be. But see if you're don that would be a reason why you would go No, no, because I don't think he want I don't want to think he wants that challenge. I don't think he needs that challenge. Let's call him an as he's not. No, you were, you were incorrect and says when they had Colorado on the list, he says he's not coming. It's too cold. Remember you say he's too cold? And he and he and he did it. I would I would bet not a lot of money, but some money that he's not gonna go do
the NFL at least not anytime soon. But but the Florida States or whatever Florida's I just feel like when whispers like that start happening, you know, it's like you know, where there's smoke, there's fire, kind of sure, sure, No, I get it, I get it. Who is that smoke coming bro just different media media. Oh, I haven't seen I haven't seen that. Dan Patrick was talking about it today talking about how, you know, Pete Carroll is well into his seventies, he's the college draw

funcying Chinese Fryn. It was those things were cool. The videos. You know, Uh, here's a stupid thing that I saw somebody on Facebook sad that Ada Barnes was inappropriately draft Oh what what what she really? Yeah? What sense? I don't know. Everybody. Everybody went on a rip. This person said, what the hell are you? Was in a matter of a woman? Was a woman? That makes sense? Told you, yeah,
she pulled down the thing. Everybody has an opinion, but that, Yeah, that's like she wasn't there like in a bathing suit or anything. No, I just I just I just thought I saw that. I saw that. But I think people enjoyed that. I think the feedback is that it was it was kind of fun. It took you long. It took you long to get to the game. It did, it did, and
it was there were moments when you were there. It took There were stretches where they just talked yeah, you know, because they were doing other things. But I think fan fo seeing those guys because it's it's a different crowd. It's a different crowd. All right, Hey, let's take our break.

We have saw book been from pH and X Sports and Phoenix. How are you saw good? How's it going on? Well? Fine, thank you, thank you. It looks like you're going to be busy this year. Another like you've always been busy the last few years covering the Suns. What did you see yesterday at media Day? No, I just think
the vibe was really, really good. You know, they have a lot of energy, a lot of optimism, obviously with the opportunity to win the franchise's first championship, and you know, I think more than anything else, the guys are just ready to refresh this whole season and get past what's happened last couple of years and get over that hump, you know with DeAndre Ayton, you know, coming from here, you know, not a bad guy, but just didn't bring a I would say, a good vibe to a
team, right. It was just it would just always seemed to be some issue with him. He wasn't playing hard enough or whatever you wanted to say. Is there some sort of a lifting of that off off of this team. Yeah, I think indirectly you can point to a few things that were said by people about, you know, just behind the scenes, what was
going on. Nobody would get into any specifics, but he definitely felt like there was there was some issues off the court in terms of where DeAndre Aden thought he should be used and how he should be used to what was actually being produced by him on the court. And I think really what it boiled down to was just you just never knew what you were going to get from DeAndre Ayden on a night to night basis, and because of that lack of trust, you know, the Suns could never really fully buy into what he
was going to bring to the table. So I thought that just caused, you know, a kind of a rift within the organization and him and I think both teams are actually happy to move on, to be honest with you, Yeah, no question. And they had some talent, right. I thought Monty did a fantastic job. Who didn't think Monty did a fantastic job, Because he did, and that mixture of him and DeAndre and you just said that he didn't like the way he was being used the last time I
checked, it's not up to the players that determine that. Yeah, it's up to the players. I actually would probably oppose what you just said about money Williams, to be honest with you, I think he did. I thought he did a terrific job the first couple of seasons, But I think what ultimately really changed with Monty was the fact that he was pretty stubborn about
his rotations. He you know, we talk a lot about DeAndre Aden's inconsistent Yeah, I think Money Williams inconsistency in terms of his rotations and not really going with guys and really getting them comfortable in the roles was also a factor in the inconsistency of the entire team as a whole, outside of Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. And I think that ultimately costs in the last two seasons.
So that's kind of where I were gonna look. Okay, that makes sense, So so at At you know, your first comment was that there seemed to be a pretty nice vibe and media day, what's uh, you know, what do you look at or what do you feel like is the biggest change or the biggest difference in that vibe this year compared to last year in terms of the guys that have come in, I mean, how have
they changed that? Well? I think, you know, first of all, I think the fact that you had so many you know, veteran minimum free agents that signed here and signed here for a reason because they wanted to play with the Big three and they they knew they had an opportunity to win a championship. And some of these guys have never been afforded that opportunity. You look at Kata based the up, you look at you know, you to wat An abby Uh and the list goes on and on. And these
guys are coming here for an opportunity to win a title. So with that sense of optimism, you bring in Drew Eubanks as well, and then trade for you know, a guy like Yusuf Nurkitch, who was you know, the Trailblazers were competitive before he shattered his leg grace and Allen's been with the Milwaukee Bucks, but they just got bounced in the first round last year. Now, now they're all coming here with a renewed sense of optimism, fresh
perspective. And let's be honest, folks. And there's worse places to live in the country during the winter than Arizona. Yeah sure, yeah, no question. So the vibe in the city, what's that like? Given the you know, they were there in the finals not too long ago, a couple of years ago, the city was going crazy. I'm sure they have some some of that vibe. But Denver is still going to be good, Golden State's gonna be good, Lakers are going to be better. All this,
all these teams in the West are going to get better. Yeah. True, But I think everybody's excited. I think everybody's excited for the opportunity to prove everybody wrong. You know, everybody's going to be pointing out the Nuggets. That's really the one team that everybody's pointing to in terms of who's really above us right now. And that's because, hey, listen, when you're the champion, you got to beat the champions to take that throne.
And they deserved it. They beat everybody pretty handily last year. But yeah, I mean the West is loaded, the East is loaded, you know, I mean from top to I mean, the top teams in each conference are going to be really, really tough to deal with. But I think the vibe here in the city is no different than than it really was the last couple of years. A little bit more optimistic and definitely a refreshed kind of outlook on the season. And I think DeAndre Aiden, Let's be honest,
I love DeAndre Aden. I think we all do down in Tucson because he's a he's a wildcat. But I think we were all kind of exhausted by the storyline that was DeAndre Aiden. So I think it was that by itself kind of refreshes everybody. Well, you heard part of the comments in Portland that he's kind of renewed some freshness or whatever. He said. You know, he and everyone that I saw on Twitter who've seen him places. Okay, we've heard that before, but now you have to do it.
I mean, they're not wrong. Yeah, I mean I've heard I've heard that a year after a year, you know, from DeAndre and about how he was refocused and he was ready to prove everybody wrong and this, that and the other, and it just never came to fruition. You know,
you can't listen. One of the things that you just can't do, and what ultimately will cost you is if if you don't show up in the playoffs, and I mean listen, man, you might as well see him on a milk carton because he was not around during the playoffs at all, and he was at MIA and people were trying to find out what was going on with him, and they could never put a finger on it. And so
that ultimately I feel like it's really what caused him to be moved. You got to you got to show up when your team needs you the most, right, Right, So you talk about the big three, But you know, does this team need to be any one guy's you know, I would say it's his team. Does it need to be that or can it be you know, three guys or however many guys. There's have to be a focus. Make no mistake about it. This is Devin Booker's team. Okay.
You can you can sense that when he walks into media day. You can sense that around the valley. This is Devin Booker's team. When Kad and Beal talk, they always talk about Devin Booker in that light, like I came to the valley because of Devin Booker. Like you don't make that move for a second or third option, like that's Devin Booker's that dude, Well he's bitter since nineteen ninety six. That was a pretty good line for me yesterday. It was it was a listen, we're gonna put that on
a shirt and sell it. Let's go. You better you that smart move, smart move, I would assume, you know, having lived here forever. But now the Suns are Phoenix's team diamond Backs. Okay, yeah, the Cardinals are the Cardinals. But if the Phoenix Suns are rolling, Phoenix is just a happier place a million percent. No different than you know, when you think of two son, you think of you of a basketball, you know, it's that's the number one and then everything else's second, third,
and fourth, right, And that's how the Suns are. When the Suns are rolling, that's the original franchise. That's that's that's the darling of the city. That's the baby, and that's the one that everybody wants to win the championship the most because they've come so close so many times. So yeah, without a doubt, how much does Kay do you have left? I think he has a lot left, to be honest with you. I think he's got two solid years where he's gonna give you all the start level
of performance and then maybe he'll start to tail off. And even if his performance tails off a little bit, I don't think it's going to be a severe to where it's gonna cost you games. You know, I think you know, you look at Chris Paul and how he performed at times in the playoffs when he was healthy, and you can point to that and be satisfied in the KD can perform like that, They're gonna be in good hands.
Yeah, Okay, you're gonna be busy a lot of fun too, because you know you're gonna see a lot of who do you think the favorites are giving your top four? Top four in the West, top four in the West. I'm gonna go, uh, Milwaukee, Boston, Phoenix, and Denver. Milwaukee's done. West. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, like overall overall. Just give me the West though, just the West. Okay, I will give you Denver. I'll give you a Phoenix obviously, I'll give
you the Lakers. And then I'm gonna go with the sleeper because I think they're going to make a move at some point. I'm gonna give you the Clippers. Oh wow, wow, Okay, so you think Sacramento was a one shot deal. I'm not a big believer in Sacramento. I am all about uh the OKC thunder That is my basketball side piece this year, if you will, I am a big fan of the Thundering. Wow, and

But I get what you're saying, and I totally get what you're saying. I also think that USC is one of those teams that needs a challenge. They need a challenge, and they haven't been challenged. Yeah, honestly, we saw that first game with the smooth and San Jose State. They look horrible and blah blah blah
and every moore the poo poo that one. I think they need to play that Colorado game. Could have just gotten one hundred and Okay, here's the rest of their skit. Okay, tell me there aren't three losses in there. Okay, obviously Arizona this weekend at home. No, Okay, they go to Notre Dame. A good game, should be a good game. Uh possible, Yeah, possible. The spread would be about two. They've got Utah coming to their place. You think cam RISI played by then.
I don't think that's a loss that I think they'll beat at home. They'll be at home, they'll beat Utah. And then they got they go to cal they'll win that. And they got Washington at home. Okay, Washington travel, Okay, let me go back. They could lose to Utah. I don't think they will, but I think the looser Notre Dame, because it's add Notre Dame. I think Washington beat him just because I think Washington's

They went in there very much. So I have no idea why that happens.
But they could be close. And I'll give you that, but I just don't see it now, and you will see. I think they finally needs to. They're well aware of the defense sucks, yes, and I think these kinds of things matter. How much more bounce in their step are guys like Fafita and McMillan. We see that all timon who gonna have when they can step on the We see that all the time. We see the all time because it's a story being written. These guys never recruited you,
