Streaming live on the iHeartRadio WAPP. This is I on the Ball with Steve Ravera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen to fifty. Hey, welcome back to Win the Ball hero Fox Sports Fortune fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jake got kivin with breaking news, breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Nothing's ever perfect, you know what I mean, nothing can be perfect, but
that's okay. We do have some breaking news. So today the Pac twelve announced it's yearly awards to end the season, and Noah Fafida is the Pac twelve Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year. He leads the group of thirteen Wildcats that earned conference award honors and he is also the first and only winner from You Have a JJ Taylor was a co winner of the award in twenty seventeen.
And that's amazing to you forgot who did what? He didn't get into a game of the end of the fourth season, and yet you know he's he's the offensive Freshman of the Year and the guy who he beat out was a Freshman of the Year as well, and Jade Delora a couple of years ago. So a good you know, good on off of well deserved obviously.
I think the big one of the things that Arizona fans are losing their minds over it shouldn't be is that Kaylin de Boor got Coach of the Year deserving that Jeff Fish deserve it. Yeah, he deserved it too, but you can only give it once, and I think you give it to the guy who went under who was us he was picked to when Oregon they I think with USC Washington, Oregon, Utah was how it was, how the prediction came came around because at the time, at the time Oregon was not
people didn't think Oregon was gonna be great. They you know, they they got good, you know in the second half of the season or that's when people thought they were great. But yeah, so a bunch of a bunch of Arizona guys for the first time in a long time. I think what they say, uheen thirteen for first time since when, oh, since twenty
seventeen. But that was what J J. Taylor co no man months I think was there was a number in terms of the most the most who got sort of all when that's funny when Arizona says all conference, they're adding in the honorable mention guys and all that kind of stuff. But I know Washington had fourteen of their players earned some level of All Pac twelve honor. It says thirteen All conference honors are the most for the Wildcats. That's two thousand
and eight when they had fourteen, and it's a good benchmark. But like I just said, Washington at fourteen and that's the best team in the conference we have right now in Arizona's right up there with him in terms of yearly award honors, which is pretty cool to see. But Jordan Morgan, Jacob mon who first team at their positions, second team, Tetro McMillan. They're
look is see the best receiver in the conference. He's in the conversation, certainly, but you can't argue with the guys that they gave it to. Yeah, it's a loaded conference on that way, for sure. I don't I don't wait an, I'm looking. I'm looking for Dorian Singer and Deonder Willampin. Sorry that was me speaking of speaking of transfers. As Jay brought up Dorian Singer, you have an interesting transfer out of Alabama today, guys.
Alabama quarterback Tyler Buckner has entered the transfer portal, but not for football. I like to transfer to play lacrosse, and he did play that in eighth grade apparently before focusing on football. What. Yeah, For those who can't see Jay, his face just twisted in about eighty different directions. I had no idea because he was one of the better lacrosse players in the country coming in right now and he decided just to change. Yeah, so he's
going back to I guess his roots in that way. Well. Well, the Alabama quarterback and I can't think of his name right, He's gonna be a Heisman Trophy Jaylen Molroe. Yeah, he'll be a HIGSM candidate next week one because he's at Alabama too. He had a really nice second half of the season. Yeah, he's got his team in the playoffs. He's even quoting Jalen Hurts after games and stuff like that. It's pretty interesting to see. Yeah. The the quarterback from Oklahoma, Dylan Gabriel is rumored to be
a Cornipete Demil is meeting with the Ducks of Oregon this this week. Also heard us C is in the mix. Usc is in the mix, but he's meeting with the Ducks this week, uh D is supposed to meet with a couple of a C a CC teams, uh, like Florida State, and he's also gonna meet with Mississippi State as well. Okay, so there's there's your answer. Jay, the guy from Oklahoma going somewhere else like Oregon, right and us C And I had heard you that was a shoe too,
because the other guy is leaving. So uh, that's that's what happens. You go from one A to one A A. It's free agency with absolutely zero what are they what do they call guardrails, restrictions and regulation restrictions, regulations, salary caps, any of that stuff. And you're and you're at Oklahoma. Yeah, and you're Yeah, you're in Oklahoma. You can't you're starting. You can't keep your starting quarterback. How crazy is that? You're driving a b M the whatever BMW. Oh, there's a nice one
over there. Yeah, let me let let's finish the U of A All Conference guys. Tyler Loop was second team as we said, Team ac ted. Roy McMillan was second team. Honorable mentioned guys were Jonah Coleman running back, Tanner McLaughlin the tight end offensive lineman Jonah Savanea, Taylor Upshaw defensive line, defensive backs, Tacario Davis, Thepheesians, Price Sock, Jacob Cowen got honorable mention at receiver, and Tradon Stokes another defensive back. So a lot
of guys, man, that's good. Good for them, Good for them, all right. It is the Arizona Coyotes. Jay's favorite hockey team is. They're on fire right now. They're the first team in NHL history to defeat the five most recent Stanley Cup champions in consecutive games. Now, that doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of their evaluation of the team, but it does. It does mean they're beating quality teams and they've done it five straight games and are the only ones to have played those guys. I have
no idea. It's one of those it's one of those beam Yeah, it's one of those weird sports center status. But it's funny because sometimes you see, well the Cowboys hadn't beat this team since two thousand and eight. Well they hadn't played him since two thousand and eight. Yeah, there were a
lot of those stats going around with the Jaguars last night. They were like the Jaguars have not won a Monday night football game since two thousand and whatever, so they also hadn't played a home Monday night football game since like a year before that. And let me take a moment to say that I well, I Trevor Lawrence is one of my favorite guys. He's a big weenie. He acted like he blew out his leg and tore up his ac ripped his we're gonna call him ripped his h and ripped his achilles, and he's
got a sprain dank we gotta call it's Trevor Lawrence. Good. Yeah, he has something to say to your dad, big baby God. He threw his helmet and some guy you see, the guy from the other from from paying for it, went up to him and we went to a knee instead of prayer for him, like, get off your knee. He's got a sprained ankle. Right, guys, get every game if you get hurt, that tall chr I'm not gonna do anything. Yeah I'm not. I'm not
dropping down to it. He's saying, no type of nothing. Put a little dirt, rub some dirt on it, and get back in the damn game and go score me some points for his fantasy team exactly. Time has released it's twenty twenty three Athlete of the Year. Do you guys want to take a shot at the guests if you guys have already, it's not it's not Deon Sanders. No, that was sportsperson athlete. This is Time Magazine twenty twenty three Athlete of the Year. WHOA, Okay, it's gonna be
okay, it's okay. Is it a sort of an out of the box pick? Like not NFL? And yeah, it's not in the wheelhouse one more times? No, little messy nailed bit Jay. Look at that nailed it. I know, of course he's the only soccer player I know except Christian Bron in Miami. Yeah, I think, but his his his impact on like the greater economy of Miami and the league as a whole. I think he's boosted the MLS to it like three games, didn't he He played a lot more games than three. But he did get hurt. He had
a hamstring Injursty. He kept them out of some regular season games and they lost those games. The playoffs they did win. They did win some in season uh some in season tournament things. So so yeah, look a guy like that coming to the United States. So I mean, that's a big deal, Steve, even though you played because well, because when he said it wasn't one of the wheelhouse sports, they thought, okay, it's got to be soccer tennis. I thought Simone Biles was it was a good it
was a good guess when it wasn't hurt. I'm trying to think of an who's like the most famous athlete you could have did. Maybe Novak Djokovic was you said, oh yeah, but he didn't have a huge impact in the United States tournament. But Messi came here and played played here the US. Yeah, you know, it's like when Pele came, right big it is like when Pele came kind of big deal. We have some we have some breaking MLB draft news for you guys. By the way, the Cleveland Guardians
have landed the number one pick in the upcoming MLB Draft. They only had a two percent chance of winning the lottery. I wonder if if Terry Francona will go back and man, it's nice And the last bit of breaking news for today, I thought this was pretty interesting. We're seeing the Las Vegas sphere. If you guys are familiar, obviously with the new new venue out there in Las Vegas. The twenty twenty four NHL Draft is going to be held at this sphere in June nine. The NFL Draft, the NHL Draft
hippo. Ok, the NHL Draft I didn't here is going to be held at this fear in Las Vegas in June. Wow, I did. That's it's stunning to see that because I was when I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago. It's amazing what it looks like. No, I'm sure, And I mean I remember seeing it as they were building. I'm like, I do what are they building? I was, I was, what is in March? And it was it was just they just finished building it,
but they hadn't quite launched it yet. Yeah, and it was just this big, massive thing out there, and I was like, that is going to be incredible whenever they get it going. And it has been so Yeah. But that's all the breaking news I had for today. I don't know if you guys, well, let's go to this thing with you know that there's a story in the book in this in the Star Ellie Wolf. Uh. Now, this was this was the thing that came out. This
news came out yesterday, was reported today in the Star. But it turns out that the loan that that athletics got from the U of A is eighty seven million dollars, not fifty something that was reported when this whole thing of the miscalculation of the of the cash on hand was done. And and Bobby Robbins just basically said one hundred percent, there's gonna be some layoffs in the
athletic department. Ticket prices is gonna go up for basketball and football twenty five percent, and that you know, they I mean, they got They're gonna have to bite the bullet and it's just gonna be interesting to see what, you know, how that affects everything. It's not a small number. That's small amount, Steve. If you're paying two thousand dollars, a thousand dollars whatever, that's still a chunk of chain. Well, if you're paying two
thousand dollars for your ticket, you're paying hundred bucks. Yeah, and a lot of the guys could afford it, but a lot of guys can't. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not even sure how much I pay for my tickets because the invoice comes in and then I paid and I don't even really pay attention to do it. Start paying. Take I think my two tickets, my two football tickets, I believe were in the five hundred, five hundred
and fifty dollars range or something like that. But I could be because you get you pay a ticket and then you also pay you're wearing a seat premium. Uh, you know when we moved into sections, we pay that. But you know, if it's if it's another one hundred dollars, what the hell? Yeah, one hundreds it sounds okay, and twenty five. But you know, if you load your cats, you're gonna go. Yeah, you to go, you to go, especially invest like next year, how
could you not go? You know, we complain that all these I have that the home schedule in basketball has been blah for the last whatever since the shun stuff is coming on, and now now they now they're gonna be playing some teams. Right. I can't wait. How did you miss that? I mean, I can't wait for the basketball schedule for next year to come
out. After the sleep Every weekend is gonna have something something right. Somebody's coming in that whether it's Kelvin Sampson or Kansas or the Baylor their own tang. One of my big questions is what what nights are game is going to be on? Right, because we've gotten so you see that Thursday, the Thursday Saturday or Thursday Sunday thing because of the travel partners, and it's been easy that the Big Twelve doesn't do it like that. Their games are all
during the week. You know, we're gonna have Monday night games and Wednesday night games, and you know how am I gonna get some sleep? You know on those weeknight games? You know, although I would hope being in the Big twelve will limit those nights, you know, we won't have those nine o'clock games football. But yeah, but other two many there's not too many. There's two of them this year. A couple put a little Yeah, I gotta stay up and count everything. Lawrence and his doctor I think
just called in put it in concussion mode. What do you gotta say, Kenny Pickett, he'sprained his ankle, he's getting surgery. What do you gotta say to MJ has not has not fantasy out of his Hey, look, if you're getting surgery, you know, you can cry all you want, but you got you know, everybody sprains their ankles. Everybody does. If you're an athlete, you've sprained your ankle, right, have you ever?
Don't look at me, don't look at me. You've been an athlete, right, No, no, no, okay, Steve has yeah, broken legs and like I should say, and and over hands. But it's it's cool. It's not cool. It's no. I mean, look, I mean, I've had a couple of a couple of athletic cause surgeries. But you know, as long as I can keep play golf, I'm good.

Jacin Sauce. Now on the phone, we have Tim Kitsch, the I Guess, executive director for the President of President of the National Football Foundation, the Southern Arizona Chapter, former Oklahoma coach and Big Coach. How you doing, Coach, I'm doing great, guys. I'm excited to be here with you today, and yeah, we've got an interesting bowl matchup coming up. We do, we do it and that's why we call it. And who better than a guy who's been in both places? But first, well,
first coach, but first coach. Are you glad that you're not to coach anymore? Well? You and I have had this discussion before, and yes I am because I don't get it so college football and certainly taking a couple of turns and I'm not sure they're all for the better, but you know, it's certainly a free for all out there right now, and that's that's disappointing to me, to be honest with. Yeah, no doubt. So we've got we do have a great matchup in Arizona. Obviously very excited to
be in a bowl game. Jeed Fish talked yesterday about how you know this they're playing for playing this game as if it's a championship game. We know other teams don't do that. Teams you see teams getting into these bowl games. You know your experience with with bowl games, did you see a little both of that? You know, how did you know could you tell that
if your team was either really into it or not really into it. You know, I think back probably earlier in my career, where bowl games were such a big deal for any team that got into one that I don't think that's part of the equation. I think that all the teams early in my career, I absolutely love being at a bowl game. They recognized it as being a reward for a great season. And uh, but anymore with all the players opting out and uh uh and I get it to a point.
I mean, if you're a first rounder or maybe even up second rounder, uh and they and the bowl game is not a championship bowl game, uh, you know, in the final four. Maybe that's maybe that's a deterrent for the for some kids thinking that way. But you know, I was in three of the four championship or three of the final fours, and that's certainly held a little bit higher esteem, I guess for all the teams involved.
But uh yeah, it's disappointing to me. See maybe the way the teams are are reacting to going to lesser bowl games and they think they should be at but you know that that won't bode well for him if they don't
show up on that particular day to play. So coaches, it's obviously you played, you spent some time here in Tucson with you of a did you and I know this is a dumb question, and I'm sorry, but you probably saw the potential the program had back in the day, and it's not too long ago with Stoops and your time when you took over, that they could do this and it would just take a little magic. Yeah, I
think that's true. I really, Uh, you know, I believe we were building the culture here similar to what Jets done here with this particular group and h kind of along the same timeline. Our airs were tough, and then in the middle of the of our stay here, we're certainly we're getting better. And you know, you could argue that we were one play away from going to the Rose Bowl the year we lost to Oregon. But uh, you know what he's done and what the team's doing now, they're hitting
on all cylinders. They're playing with a lot of confidence. I like all three phases, the way they're playing right now, and their turnover savvy. So I think that's bodes well for Arizona heading end of this game. What's impressed to you about the way they've done this. Uh, you know, first of all, you know, let's let's not beat around the bush, you jed, I mean, well, a long time coach, you know, didn't really play college football, kind of unknown, uh, but comes
in here, you know, and and does what he's done. What do you what was the most impressive thing about that? Do you think? Well? I think first of all, he hired a group great group of coaches around him, and that's, you know, the mark of a good leader. Get the people that you can trust and confide in and know that they're going to do their jobs and they're going to be loyal, and then getting
the kids to believe that, you know, they could compete. And that's the maturation of what I see in this team is that you know, that first year was a typical first year when you're coming into a program that might be a little down. Well, they were definitely down, so that didn't surprise me. But I just liked with the I like the physicality that they're
playing with. I like the confidence that they're playing with. And that's something that you built up over time, and you've got to have pretty good leaders in there to be able to make that happen. And then you know, the rest of the team rises up and uh uh plays accordingly. I'm assuming that you've watched many of the games and we talked about this. I know Jed talked about this a lot and where the magic started or he began to see this thing happened. And he said the USC game, they played them
close, they could have won the game. I kind of agree with him obviously, But the Washington State game to me was like, Wow, this team is kicking the crap out of him on the road and then they haven't lost since when did you see something like something turned? Yeah, I would agree with that. I think the Washington game as well. In fact, you know, the interesting thing for me is there's there's kind of a triangle connection to this whole thing. You know, at least with the with the
Bowl game with Oklahoma, Oklahoma beat Texas, Texas beat Alabama. Arizona could easily won the Washington game in my opinion, and uh, I actually at trivia, you know, I I I know that could have beaten USC on the road, which would have been a big cupe. But to be that competitive in a game when UFC was really playing at their best, I think I'd agree with that that that was definitely a turning point in the season, a confidence voter for the team. But I'm I'm I'm even more impressed with
the way they uh played in the Washington game. So that was my take on it. So, you know, one of the obviously keys to this thing, and you know, your side of the ball, what the defense has done this year took a huge leap, similar to the leap that that the offense took last year from your year one to year two under under fish.
What you know, what's what is it about the defense that that you know makes you kind of you know, raise your eyebrowser turn your head and say, wow, these guys have done a really nice job with this. Well, they they did several things. One is they went out and got some got the type of person that they felt would fit the system. And you know, I think from a defensive perspective, there's of a of a football team as I've seen in a long time here, and I like the
schemes. I don't think it's too complex, but it's complex enough to confuse opposing quarterbacks. And just the way they're flying around the ball right now, I think that's probably the most impressive thing to me is you see a lot of wildcat stirts around the ball all the time. Do you watch do you watch Arizona's game? Do you watch Arizona's defense from a coach perspective? You know, I wouldn't know you know what a coach perspective is, But do
you do you look at when you're watching Arizona play? Are you watching the defense kind of maybe analytically, just seeing what they're doing as opposed to just watching what happens in a given play or something like that. Well, I'd like to say I could sit here and tell you that I was just a
fan watching the game, but I'm coaching him for the game. H No, I you know they're doing enough stuff defensively scheme wise that you know it's it's hard to uh for a quarterback to uh see what the final uh product of a play is going to be. And I think that's vot very well for what they're trying to accomplish defensively is confusing quarterbacks and UH and just playing hard and UH. Like I said, the turnover battles that they're winning every
week is uh is really impressive to me. So coach, let me get away from this because I've always wanted to ask a coach to like this. Uh and and and you're not coaching, So this is the question. So you're coaching, and you're well respected, you're coaching a Division one level at Arizona, Oklahoma, whatever, and now your quarterback's making half a million dollars.
How difficult or whatever he's making, how difficult is for you to coach them a guy who's already making that money, and then you maybe knowing that this kid is not paying attention or does he care? Yeah, that's that's wow. You've hit a sixty four thousand dollars question. But here's my take
on this. So at the NFL level, which is where we're going with the college football, I think we talked about this once before, but the word amateur no longer exists in college football and that's a shame to me. We've just become a farm system for NFL in my opinion, and the fact that these kids the lessons they had it right initially when they had the cost of attendance that they put into play oh, I don't know, six seven
years ago, where they paid everybody above and beyond the scholarship money. H and that was the right track to go on. But when the NL I opened for NIL opened up and it became a free for all, that's when it got really out of control. So to answer your question, I would not be happy if a young man put himself before the team. It's always team, team, teams, and that would be my problem with it. Yeah, I don't. I don't know how coaches do what to do.
I honestly don't. I don't either. You know, when you think of coaches like you know, like yourself, you know, like Dick told me where you know, it was about blue collar guys who you know were in it for the good of the team and stuff like that, and all of a sudden, you know, you got to you might have a quarterback making you know, seven figures or whatever. How that would how that would just fly around the locker room, in a meeting room or or wherever. I
just can't I can't even imagine. Well, uh, we're seeing it firsthand, and I think it's shown exactly ahead unfortunately here the last couple of years. Because you know, maybe initially it was okay because you didn't hear about those kind of figures initially, but then once once they could find out that there was no control of it. Uh, the rich got richer? Ye, So yeah, are they getting richer or are they really putting themselves in
a bad and harmed way because of that? That's what I think. Well, let's talk a little bit about what you've been doing with the football National Football Foundation here the southern are is on the chapter. A lot of stuff with with the high schools. Tucson had two state champions in football. You guys, you know one one one thing you're trying to you know, get kids interested in the sport. But you gave you give out weekly awards and
those kinds of things. What you know, what's uh, just tell us a little bit about what you guys are trying to do with all that. Yeah. Well, and you know our what we're really trying to accomplish in our mission is to grow the game of football grow in southern Arizona. Started at the youth level and as it trickles up to the high school level.
You know, we're sponsoring clinics, we're sponsoring camps. We did twelve Friday Night Lights games in Southern Arizona this year with the Arizona bull as our partner. We went to Wilcox, we went to Walden Grove, went to Empire, Douglas, Tombstone, Rito Rico. So we just didn't go to in
town schools. We're really trying to get ourselves out there and we were well received in a lot of those rural communities, which is really important for us because we had forty five high schools under our umbrella south of Phoenix, so that was a big deal for us. We sponsored a couple flag football tournaments. Uh. We helped with Alex and Daos's kicking gam Uh. The thing that I enjoyed as much as anything this year as we sponsored the first girls
flag football game with the Tucson teams. Random, So you know, we're doing a lot with youth football. We're helping the jamborees, We're there for the championship game and then uh, we'll be tied in with the Arizona Bowl game. Uh. Giving out the Bijon Robinson Player of the Year warth at halftime. Nice. Nice, and how proud I guess if you can be proud about the two teams that won the state title the first time in forever. Two teams I two Tucson teams that I you know, this is what
we're looking for. Steve Rivera and Jacob Salaz they have their Eye on the ball on Tucson Sports Station Chat Fox Sports fourteen to fifteen. Hey, welcome back to my I on the ball here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, Psja Kevin with us today the thirteen minutes. If you guys want to call please do I know
someone will try to call earlier. You can call back this show. We'll pay attention way too, Fasha. Well, and you've got great guests in conversation. It's cool. Look at that. I'm ringing already. Hi, you're on the air and I on the ball. Hey, Stephen, Jay you may have explained this before, but I don't get it. The Washington State quarterback lord right, I just moved over there from somewhere Mississippi State or
somewhere or now he's on the transfer portal again. So what are the what are the rules for the for transfer for transferring well, if you're a grad transfer, meaning if you got your degree and you've graduated, you can go anywhere you want after that and you don't have to sit out or anything. That's what's happening with for instance, the uh the quarterback from Oklahoma, he's a grad transfer. You know, there's a lot of people who think that
that's what Jadon Delora is gonna do. You know, he's this was his fourth year of college. If he can get his degree, he can go anywhere he wants and not have to sit out. So that's the rule. If you're not a grad transfer now, you you know, you either have to it has to be you can and transfer once or you you got to have some sort of a situation that you can get a waiver. But the waivers are getting harder to get. So but you know, guys who haven't
transferred before it can transfer. They get one transfer without sitting out. But but if you've graduated, if you've gotten your degree, you can go anywhere you want. Okay. So that yeah, that would work for the Laura and it would work for Ward. So when they came, when he went Ward went to watch and said that would be his one free right transfer right, Well, that might not have been because they got there. There was a it was a couple of years ago, I know, coming out of
COVID. I don't remember what the rules are. Because because of COVID, they were letting people transfer. That's why you see have seen some guys transfer two or three times because they got a free one because of COVID. So you know, he might he might have that one too. You know, some of these guys still have that because that was you know, that was three years ago. Okay, but the nature also of the okay, thanks for that, But the nature of the transfer seems to be changing. It
used to be mostly players that were kind of unhappy. They thought they had a very chance somewhere else. And I guess that's still a true true. But we got three top flight quarterbacks Oklahoma, uh, Washia the state and what's the third one. There's like eight of them because you got you got from Oregon State, you had Dante more Over at U c l A. You know, and you had other guys. You know, Michael Pennix is the transfer of Indiana Bowneck was a transfer from from Auburn. They're just looking
for a better opportunity. Or as you know we talked about with Tim Kish you have the last segment, you're going for the money. Okay, so, uh, there's a show. Is there any chance that they're going to tighten up the the transfer portal or not? The n C I ain't gonna move. You're gonna sleep on this. That's tough. I think if they do it, it'll take time, but I'd say no, and that's in the immediate future, right right, Okay, thank you guys, All right,
well, thank you, thanks for the thought. Thank you know. I was going to say, you know, the toothpast side of the tube on this too, as it is with as it is with the with the nil you know, they created the situation where guys can just go right and
they're going in numbers. I put fifteen hundred people in the fifteen hundred players in the portal since yesterday, which is amazing time the collar Hi are on the aaron Ie on the ball Truchard you guys, Hey, I just want to let you know quickly that you know that Dylan Gabriel's transfer it's not about money. The fact is that he was probably not going to be starting for Oklahoma next fall. Oklahoma's getting ready to transition to Jackson Arnold, their five
star freshman quarterback. And that's who's going to be playing against Arizona and making his debut against this great Arizona team, and it's gonna make it a great ALBUMO bowl, Oh good, whoa. I'm happy to hear that because you know, and and if he hasn't played right, he you know he can play in this and that has he played during the year, he's played just very sparingly. Okay, so he's probably playing. He's just played excellent skills.
You know, he won the eleven or eleven Elite quarterback competition coming out of high school in Texas. You know, he's a sixty two and thirty pounds robo QB is what I'm calling. So he's leaving. He's leaving because this kid's coming up and we'll be playing more and still has a chance and still has a chance to good Oregon USC or l s U. That's exactly right. Oklahoma will be fine no matter what. Wow, it's an embarrassment
of riches. Really, I didn't want to call I didn't want to call in and sound you know, because but you know, now, the thing for Jackson Arnold Is. He's gonna is going to be an excellent quarterback, but he's gonna have a lot of competition. Oklahoma has another kid coming in from Texas, Michael Hawkins. It's a tremendous dual threat quarterback. So but we're gonna need it when we go to the SEC. Right Yeah, as he said, don't cry for me Argentina, right right, and don't cry
for me Oklahoma. It's going to be a great alan ball. I'm going looking forward to it, all right, Richard, thanks about you, man, appreciate it. Thanks for the insight on that. Thank you. So, I think the line has changed. The three and a half three and a half man. Everyone was one of those teams that covers, but I don't know about three and a half. They're the best team that's covered. They're nine to two man. They ended up with in the regular season with
the best ATS record, the best team in the country covering. And he didn't get it on that. I didn't get on it because I knew who I know, who I am, would be the worst team again. Trevor Lawrence has a sprained ankle. He was able to avoid the ko D all
the way up until last night. No one can avoid the ko D. It's like the cloud coming from the Ten Commandments, and it's going to come and get you eventually, and you're gonna and the sea is gonna park and you're gonna go in there, and then it's gonna cover you up to swell. You had I hadn't looked at the line yet. You said it was three and a half, three and a half. You were it was one and a half. Now it's three and a half. You're giving three.
They opened it one. It opened at one Arizona by one quarterbacks, and as of this morning, it was three and a half. And if that quarterback is halfway decent, which apparently he is, I'm sure they'll be fighting. But you know what, Vegas puts those lines on what they know, not on what if they don't know this quarterback, They're not gonna, you know, hear lean in his direction, Richard, give them a call, Yeah, Richard, Yeah, you better tell the books how how good this
guy is. Take another call. You're on the air and I on the ball. Hey guys, quick up. Where are you in a wind tunnel? Yeah? Just coming down? Actually down? I know. I'm sorry, all right. I wanted to change courses if I could. And uh, you guys know my little cousin in place for you and l V. And uh they ripped the the big one man. You say that her faith. But and I'm telling you, I, you guys know, I go to every women's game. I love that team. Had a root for you
and LV this week because I was family. But uh, I don't understand how they can let Maddie and and and I'll tell you my cousin would have signed with him in a second. And she can shoot it from the snack bar. And you know, you know, you have Helena Puao at the two and three and she's giving you zero and Maddie Connors the top top three point shooter in the country right now. The night crazy I was gonna say, I was gonna say, given your candidness, so what do you see?
Uh, what do you see from Arizona? It's a way you know last year she had all these freshmen and she played play on them and didn't give the freshman a shot. And it's kind of like, I don't know, Noah made Jet, Noah made Jet Coach of the Year, and he didn't know what he had in his pocket. Yeah, yeah, and he and he's jet supposed to be the quarterback. Guru, can you imagine if jd Out didn't get hurt, where would we be? Well, same as
the as the Brandon Dawkins. That's probably even worse. But still, I mean, gosh darned do you think about it in the football sense. But it's the same with women's basketball. It's uh and it's a mess over there because I don't know if she can keep Bria and jadaf Man. Well, they're they're they're they're not gonna be happy. Luke and the pac ten is you guys, I don't know if you cover women's basketball all, but you have Stanford, Colorado, usc U, c l A UTAHM. They're gonna
get their butt handed to them. Okay, thanks for the good news. I guess you got it. Hey, you guys can't care what talk, so I always wonder when text me or whatever. I'm not gonna get the happy victor bad He's always the bad vic. I never get the happy victy. They could be winning, they could touchdown. Oh man, we're gonna die. Oh they scored, We're gonna be We're gonna be Okay, we're
gonna wait Steve sounds like he's describing himself. But I love that. I'm not as I'm not as grinchy as I'm not as grinchy as a VIC. I love you, man. But your miss you know getting you know, getting too women's basketball a little bit. It's uh yeah, it's well we kind of talked about that, you know when when she said, well you see him, I mean they only got ten, right, I just they just picked up another rack athlete. They picked up a javelin thrower. I
think you know is gonna darts into the basket. Well, she said, I mean you have to find the right person because you're not going to be contributing, but you need to help. But you need help. Well, like, do you think back when you know Ortiz Jenkins, you know, uh laid on the seventeen, you know, go all the way back to Craig Bertman playing with the eighty eight team. Well, Hanson the quarterback,
Hanson, the tall dudes who blocked kicks forever. Oh yeah, oh yeah Ryan, Ryan, Yeah, right, pet Pete Hanson, Pete Hanson, think it's Pete Yeah, so Facebook for I can check. Yeah, he's like he was he was coaching at Stanford. Yeah, Pete, Yeah, tall guy came into the back. Yeah, and he was he was a designated kick blocker for the ninety eight football team. Yeah. Again again a memory that I have, you know, he he he affected a kick that
would have helped to Washington put that game away. Where where Ortiz did the flip? So you know, just things like that that you know, guys, Look, an athlete wants to compete somewhere. Yeah, right, but you know, and and if they get a chance, and you know,
or Tie Jenkins was. It was really a very you know, high, highly visible athlete here in Arizona. And Luke took him on because he felt like, okay, you know, he's obviously not going to get in and play a bunch of games, but he's a good athlete and he'll help us. And he did. Yeah, so you know, interesting stuff like that. So you know, look that again that gives it, you know, another player too. Yeah. Work, we'll see how well they do and
we'll talk more about it down the road. They came on here. Yeah, Oh, she'll be busy at least one day to remember who who it is. I got to look it up. I look it up on my calendar. Here that Thursday. You see San Diego coming in, uh at six, six thirty. All right, I'll have to get there. Do you do you like? Do you like any of the tip off times? Day? It's it's well, it's not bad because it's a race from here. I got to get the podcast up. Even o'clock is kind of perfect.
Okay. I can go home real quick, do a couple of things, grab some dinner, and haul back out here. Or even seven thirty. When we start getting towards eight o'clock, eight thirty, nine o'clock night, start having issues again. Yeah, yeah, I was just wondering, you know, I was just curious over here. I'm okay with most tip offs. It's just I put myselven in Peasent. Okay, what do I got to do to get there? That's what it is. It's understandable.
All right, all right, we'll got about a minute, so we're we're at here. This show A good show, good show. As we move forward, we'll probably trying to get some connections with Oklahoma right past in present, right, maybe some guys who played in that eighty nine Arizona Oklahoma. You were there, we were there in eighty eight, right when we went up there, We went up there right to watch the game back here, and uh In Arizona beat him here in the grinder of a game, six
to three. All right, So thanks for being here today, Steve. Nice stop, man, Kevin nice stop. Appreciate you, Appreciate you. All right man, We'll be back tomorrow with more great guests, so be sure to come back.
