Jaden Solace. They have their eye on the ball on Tucson Sports Station, Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Hey, welcome back, joining the ball on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. On Steve Robero, he's Jackensaus. Now we have some breaking news, or at least I hope Jay does, at least I on the ball breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Okay, So I'm gonna admit that I don't know all the nuts and bolts of this, but there's old bunch of people losing their mind over the nc double a's denial of a
transfer of tes Walker to Caroline. It's the second one writer something. Well, here's the deal. He's he this would be his third school. Okay, he was a kid. He was a North Carolina Central and he never played there because of COVID. Then he went to Kent State played really, you know, one season, but he was there for two seasons because that he was injured one year and he wanted to transfer to North Carolina Site,
part partially siding family and mental health reasons. His grandmother's who's very close to his, is ailing and he wanted to transfer there, and the NCAA and he needed a waver to do it, to be able to put it, to be eligible to play UH this year, and the NC double said nope, And so they're losing their minds. So you got people out there were saying the NC double A is screwed. You're a bunch of jerks, YadA, YadA, YadA. But then there's what I'm reading is from other people
saying, wait a minute. The coaches in schools wanted this rule where you know, if you're talking about a third transfer, that there were certain things that you know that they wanted and play certain criteria, and he doesn't meet the criteria. And so they kind of created this themselves. I mean, Mac Brown went on a released his whole thing. At the end of it, he's a shame on you, NC NC double A shame on you.
He's pissed. It's always like the regular thing. If it doesn't apply to you, you're okay with it. It applies to you, then now it sucks. No, it sucks, right, And I get it. The NC double A has a horrible reputation of not really you know, watching out for athletes, YadA YadA, YadA. I don't I don't know one way or the other. You know. I mean even even uh Jay Billis, who doesn't even you know, he's a basketball guy, went on there and ripped you know, the NC double a bunchet, and you know so many
people like that who are doing that. But then there's others. Wait a minute, this is this is how, this is how the coaches. Then you know, because of what's happened with the transfer portal, this is what you wanted and now that it's being applied, you have a problem with it. So anyways, yeah, but that that's become a big deal over over uh with this kid tes Walkers, we'll see they ncy double as even threatening to sue and stuff like that. Okay, I got really, I'm not
gonna bring this one up yet. Oh. We talked about Jim Milky, the former Sun Side which he did did pass his services or services November eleven at the at the Pima Pima West Campus Final Old. He was eighty six and you said he was old old back when I was young, so he wasn't so much. I mean when I was ten, he was thirty something thirty something. Well, when you're ten, everybody everybody's old, right. I always thought my dad was old from day one. Anyways, Uh,
okay for that. We just told a little piece of information for you, Steve, for tonight because you're thinking about taking this game. Travis Kelsey is out. He's uh he tight end. He's got a bone bruise. It says it should not keep him out long term, but he will not play tonight against the Lions in the season opening Thursday night game. The only game tonight. No good game, that's a really good game. I'm gonna have it on and uh but Kelsey is not gonna play. You could have easily
gone with this game for your thing. Puts the Thursday game or the Texas Alabama here. Yeah. Yeah, well opening weekend of football. Another piece of on this game tonight. According to the Athletics NFL projection model, the Chiefs are the favorite to win the Super Bowl at just over fifteen percent. The Lions come in tent at three point one percent. So we've got two teams. They're in the top ten. Yeah, in this projection model for
the Super Bowl. So it's actually a good game. While we were asking Ryan Ratke about the Lions, yeah, no, it's it's it's then't been this good in a long time. You know, you can start seeing the lions fence come out of the woodwork, or at least out of the cellar. Let's say they get blown out tonight, Is that just do they go away? No? No, because they're gonna be pretty good. And it's Kansas City. Remember last year we're in Kansas City. Yeah, and remember
we were talking to McManaman. I think it was about the No, no, no, we're talking Jody Jody at the time. Although McManaman really liked Kyler. Uh Jody in and I said, what about the first game? I don't think Keennessy is gonna show up because it's I remember the one and then they got their budget. I remember that. I do. Excuse me, sorry, huh Jody. I said that with all sincerity, please come back to the show. We got to get Joy back on the show.
Do what he thinks of these damn cardinals there, just he knows what he thinks. That they suck. Yeah, that they that they're just gonna be awful. Well, do remind everybody talking about this and we're doing We're gonna do our fab By Friday picks after after we have our guest David Adam coming up. All right, So again the continuing impact of of what what Colorado did on on Saturday. Recruiting sites are saying that the number one quarterback recruit
for twenty twenty five a kid by the name of Bryce Underwood. He's he was pretty much locked into or leaning towards Michigan LSU or Alabama Pears. He's gonna be taking a visit to Colorado so once again, but Norrisanders is going to be there for a little while, you know, at least another year. At least another year because he's already been two, right, he's already played two the second year. This is this. I thought it was the third. Could I could be wrong? No, I think last year.
I thought I could be wrong. I think he's a sophomore, maybe because the hundred kids the second year, I don't know. I don't know. I think he's a sophomore. So how many how many? The spread is five? Now I'm asking wrong person, But how many times? How many games you think they're gonna win? Party four or five? Colorado? Yeah? Uh oh god, Steve, I don't know that the over under five they're gonna hit the three and a half? Yeah, because because you,
I mean when they when the when? When the three and a half came up. Nobody thought they were gonna win this first game, right, so it's certainly, uh, you know they're gonna they're gonna go over the three. How they're gonna get to six? That's a bowl game? Very this is this is the world we live in. I don't want to call it the Gonzales factor, but it's an overreaction to what just happened. Right,
They played TCO TCU like crazy played them. Well, they were one and eleven last year, and now when they're in the top twenty five, Yeah, how how does this happen? It's a reaction to to be big game. They're not the top twenty five. Come on, they couldn't be a bunch of who sports writers. Yeah, it's just it's what what happened yesterday.
But then on the other hand, Steve, you know, we always talk about how the preseason Paul comes out, and it's based on what you did last year, of course, right always, and then it's kind of like nobody ever adjusts that. You know, for the first several week. It takes several weeks for it to fix where Okay, now what you're doing this year matters and a bunch of people have gone on and said, Okay, I'm forgetting I'm basing my poll now on what happened over the weekend.
Sure, and what I saw. I saw Florida State kick the hall at LSU during my top five some people the number one, right, I saw, you know, I saw Colorado, you know, beat TCU on the road, crazy game. They look like one of the twenty five best teams. Didn't We don't know how good TCU right, right, but they look like one of the twenty five best teams you know, in the country to
me based on what they did. So it's kind of like it's you know, we wanted both ways, right because we would say Colorado sucked last year, so they should still suck until they do more. But they look so good. That's the realistic way to look at it. Wait till we proved me, until and prove me until I can't avoid not putting you in the twenty top twenty five. But you know, it is what it is.
Yeah, I mean, they did look impressive, and it's going back Shorge Sanders as a junior, yeah, two years I think and Travis Hunters, Yeah, I think that was a case. So you know, what if he has a good year. It's like the kid from USC right, Caleb Right. If he doesn't want to come out, he can come out and let Sanders be the number you Sanders has a great year and he gets on NFL draft Board's dad out? Yeah, you know, go get the next guy. Yeah for sure, and take your loud of it, Tom,
would you hey? Exactly? And you know and and and and Travis Hunter would be able to go this year too after so interesting but a wins Hey. But it's stranger things have happened. I know, stranger things have happened. That's all I have to Oh, okay, that's more stuff. Oh
did you see what happened with the Jones guy out the Raiders? He I guess he's holding out right, And he kind of posted something on the internet, Uh, kind of a weird one where the where the Raiders eventually had somebody go in to go see if he was okay because it was that and he's kind of holding out and he doesn't want to play for them and all that. So it's just one of those things. I don't get Jay this these guys getting a lot of money, like a lot of a lot of
money, money that you and I have never seen combined. And they play and they're they're grateful to be with the team in the first first year or two, and then beyond that, I want more money. The money gets ordinary. Want more money, I mean, the money gets ordinary. It's no longer. They get used to the money. And now they say, well, I know I'm making this, but I should be making more right and and and they you know, they get used to the big giant paychecks
that they're cashing in, the cars that they get and whatnot. And now they don't remember two years ago, I couldn't feed myself because I was at a university. I had no nil, you know, and I was getting we have fifty bucks a week to eat on. And maybe it's it's easy for you and I to talk about it because it's we'll never see that type of money. And they're you know, they're trying to protect whatever, They're trying to protect their family or themselves. But when you have millions, when
you're making millions, how much you need. That's how you and I think, Steve. And it's because we don't have those million, but that's how you and I think. I mean, I think that way. I think, be grateful for what you got. And how manna you know you're you're making your twenty million dollars a year, Why do you need twenty two or twenty three for what? Right? You're making enough money to set your your family up for generations. Why are you going to hold out because you're not
making twenty five? Yeah? Right, things like that. And again, you know they always say you never get it back when you hold out. Right, No, no, no, you're you know you're you're making you're making twelve million a year. You want to make you don't you want to make twenty five, so you're gonna hold out. Okay, finally you get your twenty five, but the twelve that you lost because you sat out a
season isn't in there. The funny thing about it, most most of the times they waive that, you know, they wave that, yeah, well you don't have to pay it. You know we'll pay you. So I don't know. It's like the guy will go, what's his name who was holding out of Kansas City? Can't remember somebody who was going to hold out. And then you saw Bosa get that big deals on defensive end. I can't remember it was on the Kansas City, whether he shows up doesn't show
up. Yeah, you know, I'll never understand you know, I'll never understand that when you don't when you and I don't have money, we don't understand that. If you're Showhyotan and you think you're worth six hundred million dollars but you're only getting five fifty you No, it's good for right? I mean, how much is too much? Or how much is at all? Yeah? Exactly? Well, well, I want to be the highest paid guy. Five hundred and fifty million dollars over ten years? Pretty good?
How is that not enough? How is that not enough money for you? I don't understand how these guys do? You guys do that? By the way, you you guys want to sponsor the show, just go ahead and give us a call. Yeah, we'll find a contract with you, ten years for whatever, ten years for five thousand dollars. Oh my god. All right, let me let me get this done. And then we're gonna have David Adams coming on. Okay, we'll talk. We'll talk about all

Whap Hey, welcome back to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jakin's os down the phone. We have former u A running back, former NFL guy David Adams. How are you, David? I'm fantastic. How were you, dude? We're doing well.
Thanks for joining us. Wanted to get kind of a it's been a while since we've seen seen or heard from you on the on the show. How are things going. What do you like about the calf so far? I'm devided. That's a good thing. Is that it's all right. That's the main thing. All the other stuff is just icing on the cable and undefeated is is what it's about. Did you see enough icing last week?
Though not really only because you couldn't really get a field perfect thing because of the competition, right right, right, But I felt the same way. I mean, you had games like that, Dave, were you know, you're playing somebody that you knew, you know, you knew you you were going to handle and stuff like that. What was what was your approach to those games and what did you get out of those other than getting some time,
you know, running the plays and that kind of stuff. Well, those type of games, you're shooting for something ridiculous like three hundred yards rushing or something like that, five touchdown, something that can go down in the record books or something. But the main thing is you want to really test your timing with your offensive line when you're playing against somebody that they don't know. All right, all right, So we talked to Jed today and again,
I don't you know, I can't go. I remember a lot about the seasons that when you were here. I just remember a lot about who you guys played. But you know, we asked Jed today about, you know, the difference between you know, basically a let's say a standard PAC twelve, you know, front lines, offensive defense versus the SEC. And he said, yeah, he said, those guys are bigger, they're generally faster than generally you know better. But you know, we're getting there.
What do you see? What do you look at it? As a former running back who this was obviously very important to you, when you see the lines and how they compare in the PAC twelve versus uh, the SEC. Well, basically that's the difference between all the conferences, and the levels is the offensive and deeper divine. Everybody got fast receivers, everybody got fast running back, everybody got pretty good decent quarterback. But it's the upfront where the
difference is from. You know the sec that the back twelve, the big sky. That's where the difference has come in is when it is offensive a deepensive line. So it's a it's a tremendous difference when you're playing at that level because you know, your skill positions always balanced out pretty much. So tell me it's been a one else since you've played. Talk about the game today compared to how it was played back in the day. Well, there's
just a hell of a lot more passing. It's just ridiculous how much they throw the ball and how little they run the ball. Back when I was playing, I mean, if you run in sixty plays, you know forty of them were run plays and then twenty were past plays unless you had a specific offense that was passed oriented. But just the fact that a good game for a running back maybe twelve perrys, and back when I played, it was not usual to get get thirty carries. Yeah, well you you w
Larry Smith. You guys ran what we would call now you know, a pro set offense, two guys in the backfield, you know, a tight end, the whole deal. Now you got so much of this, you know, run pass option. How do you think you would have done and the way offenses are run today, maybe not get the ball as much, but maybe more opportunities to you know, find some opening stuff like that.
I mean, old David Adams been like in these offenses. I think I think I would have done very well because it's a lot of matchups and my skills were very difficult to match up with for linebackers and things like that. So I think I would have done well. I may not have touched the ball as much as far as carries, but I would have I would have gotten it. Would even not with the monor touches, because I would have got you know, maybe fifteen carries and ten passes. So there's twenty five
right there, just twenty five the thirty carries. Do you remember what was the most carries you ever had in the game? And who was that against? Thirty six? Let me guess thirty six one thirty one against Washington State? Was that the game the snow game up in Washington State. Well it snowed, but they they they yeah, and we were ever to play, but it was called as hell. Yeah I remember, okay, I remember a quote from me. It must have been from the Larry Smith Shore or
something like that, that they actually had you on camera. You said you absolutely hated that because the ground was hard, it was freezing, called all that stuff. Well, here's the thing, man, when you when you're a kid, playing in the snow looked like fawn. Playing in the rain looks like fawn. But it's not for a kid who grew up and do something. Yeah, I mean, just just the you know, the footing is bad, the you know, the everybody that touches you, it hurts.
So I mean, it looks cool to slide forever in the water, but getting wet like that is not trying what it really happens. And you got hit thirty one times apparently, no, no, no, because I had a couple of touchdowns. So okay, all right, so you had a lot of yards. Like I remember you talking to somebody maybe David Kelly,
two weeks ago about that game. You had a great game. Yeah, yeah, you know, and the thing about it was this the engine thing is because after the game, I was talking to myself saying, I want to have come out and get the ball that much today I didn't understand it. And then when I got the stat sheet it said thirty one carries, I said, well, maybe I didn't get it. Yeah, tell me tell me Dave back in the back in your time and the nil today, how would it have been last back in the day for you guys?
And maybe you know, I think because I was from Tucson, it would have really benefited me a great deal. But I'm all for it. I think it's a great, great situation for players to to read the benefits of what they're doing. But I think it would have worked out well for I mean, just because I was from Tucson and so everybody would hopefully would have donated to the kiddie. Got it? Got it? So think to think back to that time too. What was the best part about, you know,
playing here in Arizona for you? I know you're a local kid and all that stuff, but you know, within that, I mean, what what what made it great for you? You know I can't tell you that, man, Sure you could, come on, don't I guess next time, Next time, next time you see me, ask me, well, there was a lot of benefit. There was a lot of benefits and scoring touchdowns. That's what they don't know who we're going all right commercials? Yeah,
gets the quarterback gets all the girls. So the running backs apparently what what do you know? The thing about this just the person that gets the ball gets the credits for everything. So you know, nobody watches the offensive and defensive linement, So they watched the people with the ball, and so the people with the ball reap the benefits of of of that situation. You know. In fact, we've asked a few of our guests here in the last couple of weeks, So how do you watch the game? Oh man?
First thing I do is I read. I read the defense and see what kind of defense are in. The second thing I do, I watched the backs to see, you know, did they make the right read, did they pick up the blibs, did they catch the ball when they're on the flask that they rung the right route? So that's what I do. I watched, I watched the position I play from any of the guys, and really the four that that are seeing the ball right, you got widely. You got, you got Williams, you got uh Speedy Luke, and
you got Jonah Coleman. Any of those guys remind you of you or anybody you played with, you know, when you're at Arizona or even in the NFL, Who who do some of these guys remind you a four different guys? Well really? But I just think that the differences now is almost every team at every level. I was running back by committee. Back when I
played. You had one guy that was the man separated himself from the backup guys, and you know, the majority of the carries went to that person this this day, and aging guy, Well, this guy runs this play better, so let's put him in there. And this guy catches better than this back, let's put him in there. Well, this guy blocks better
than this guy. Actually for him in there. You have to be pretty good at every every job of a running back back when I played, and now that it's just so specialized that to me, I don't like it as far as being a running back to play running back by committee, But you know, you have to adapt because that's the way it's done now this you know, I'm looking at your stats. These are regular season stats from your senior year in nineteen eighty six, you had two hundred and thirty eight carries.
The next guy our Great House had eleven. I mean not eleven eighty seven. That's a that's a that goes to what you were just saying that that's because you make sure that there's a big enough gap between the man and the crew. Yeah. You see if you look at if you look at Walter Page stats. Uh, Emmitt Smith stats, it was the same back in those days. Yeah, you know you didn't just those are wasted carries if you gave it to somebody. So let me ask you, did you
did you ever get hurt at all? Or no? What did you ever gets have a bad connection? Okay, like like like hurt to miss some games and stuff like that. Yeah, oh man, we must have it back in there. I started. I started three years. Uh. I missed one game because of they didn't put me in. I was dressed and I could have played, but they just were trying to save me for some odd reason. And we lost that game because they didn't play me too. Uh No, I once once, I became a starter at any level.
I've never missed games. So I was born our high school once I was a start, I I didn't miss games. See, there wasn't a bad connection that we had. One one of those. So let me ask you, because well, you know, us us normal people. And I'm not saying you're a normal person, but you you're you're a heck of an athlete on the smaller side. I don't want to offend you, but like JJ Taylor, Speedy Luke those dudes, is the size thing overstated because you guys
have been this all your life and are just good at it. No. The thing about it it is is that football, and especially football, it's so mental. That's what it comes down to. If you buy into well, i'm so little, I can't block, I'm so little, I can't run between the tackles. If you buy into all that, that's exactly the way you're gonna play. If you have the right mentality, everything is fine.
It's it's it's it's a man against another man. It just so happens that you may be six three and I'm not, But all the other skills that are needed to play ball I happen to possess. I'm just not tall. Okay, well let's go do this. Yeah, yeah, that comes down to you know, well man versus man at all. And I've known you for a while now, you've never lacked for confidence. That helps too,
No, and seeing that, I'm telling you that's the key. Yeah yeah, I mean the minute I, the minute I, the minute I stepped on campus, I told them backs that they weren't gonna play anymore? How did they? It wasn't. And the history thing was my class, the eighty two class. We all got red shirted our first year, and then I had a knee injury in the off season my second year and just
they just didn't play me at all. When I became a starter, the same back were there, but for some reason I didn't play for two years. Was that hard? You know, to be out there and you know you gotta go to practice, you gotta do this, you gotta do left, you gotta do all that stuff. How hard is that for somebody when you know you've got it right, so you know you you're you can play, but you don't. How hard is it to sit through a couple of
years like that? It's so difficult, especially if you know in your heart and then your soul that you're better than the people in front of you. Yea, and going against the first defense every day because you're own scout team, you know that every yard you gain is a real yard because you're going against the first defense. When you become on the first office, you go against the scout team d and you don't know if that's a legitimate yard or
not, because you know you're going to get the sea. But I knew, I knew I could play because I was gaining yard against our defense and we had like the number one defense in the back back keen at that time. For damn every year I was there. Yeah, real quick, we just gotta go out to thirty seconds. What do you think is gonna happen this weekend in Mississippi? Well, at least at least the competition will be
up. And I think if they come to play, if you know, they come to play and that's what they're supposed to do, they could come out of there with a victory. But if they have so somebody slipped up with turnovers and things like that, it's gonna be And then and not covering people on deepen, it's gonna be a long day. Yeah, okay, okay, thanks David showing up. Thank you for being with us. Okay, I always like David. He's he's funny, he's funny but serious.
He was so good. I mean, especially that senior year. He had a hell of a senior year, eleven hundred yards rushing. You know, he had a big game against as U in that in that in that game and he almost not didn't show up here because somebody else lost a skularship for
something happened. Right, well, he he he was a sunny side with a guy named Fred Sims, right, and Fred sims Is being recruited by everybody, ended up going to Oklahoma, and you know, Larry Smith spotted him sort of as I don't want I hate to use the word after thought, but he went over there to see Fred Simms. Then he saw David Adams and John Horton and those two guys ended up at Arizona and and that was it. That was it. And he used them. I get it.
He you know, set up a couple of years. But once David Adams started playing, he used him for you know, kick returns, and he was like, you know, he was again. He was the guy in that on that eighty six team that was very very good. All right, let's take our last break when come back fat By Friday picks on Thursday. You're ready, I'm ready, I'm ready. Stringy live on the iHeart Radio Whap. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to I
on the Ball hero Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Steve Rivera, you're jakenzos. Who goes first? The near you? I went first last time. I think we gotta go first. This is that's all golf, right, The guy who's ahead goes first. Yeah, exactly. You have the honor, help the honor. I hope to keep the honor forteen weeks, hope to keep. I feel good about my picks this week. You do, that's that's that's good for you. I'm not sure that's good or bad from me?
All right, remember to college or three years two PROA and then your fifth pick and be college or bro the special. This week, the game that we both have to pick is Dolphins at Chargers, with the Chargers giving That was a tough kid for me, and I'll wait for that to be the last. Okay, and I don't have the I don't have the I should go get my my my which you call it my my numbers. Okay,
okay, okay, I got it. Okay, So my first pick, that's you probably won't won't take anyway, because I don't want to. I'll duplicate with you. I'm taking Ucla. I think they play San Diego State, right, I think they do. Okay, let me let me find out. Yeah, UCLA is at San Diego State. Yeah four. What's the spread? It is Ucla minus fourteen and a half. Yeah. See. I don't know if you've paid attention to my stuff, but I don't pay attention to numbers. I just pay attention to to match two meetings,
two meetings. So if it's thirty and I like it, I'm gonna get it. So feen to me in this game is not that bad. You see. They barely beat Coastal Carolina. I don't I don't worry about that either. I don't know what happened yesterday. It doesn't mean today exactly. So that's just how I look at this. All right, Okay, you sell like San Diego State the interesting game, all right, I'm going my first college pick is gonna be I'm gonna take Oklahoma. They're taking on
SMU. That's good pick. It's it's at Oklahoma, I believe. And Oklahoma's only giving up sixteen. They put a seventy three up last week, and I like that. You know they're gonna score some points. You know, SMU is all full of it stuff because they're they're going to the ACC. But uh yeah, that game is at Oklahoma. But I think the
sixteen points is not quite enough for us. You on any normal year, and we don't know, We don't know right right now, it's totally but any normal your SMU against Oklahoma, that's a blowout, right, But that's but we don't know. It's our mentality, right we think Oklahoma is always going to be good and SMU not so good. But I like that there's there's a history by us there. I've got I've got Oklahoma minus the sixth game. Okay, I'm gonna stay. I'm gonna stay in the state and
go with Oklahoma state over the issue. I like the number three, which it really doesn't matter, but but I Everyzona state. I think it's gonna take some time to get harafway decent. Yeah, and and here again, I don't know about Oklahoma State. I just know the situation. I like that game. I didn't take it because I hate betting ASU games because if I lose, you you'll be double double upset and double pissed off at that. I like Oklahoma State a lot in that game, you see, but
you don't know anything about them, do you. I know that that Southern you're talk gonna beat him last week the go that could be the sho. But Oklahoma, I know, you know, I don't know much about Oklahoma State. What I know. What I know about that game is what's whatever's on the state didn't right, and that's the number is three. And not that I pay attention to numbers, But you think that you think that it would be bigger. I would think it would be. I know, it's
on the road. People they well, it's gonna be hot. It's pretty hot in Oklahoma too. Yeah, so no, you know, so don't give me the oh, it's gonna be really hot. You know, I think that's overstated. It's overstated. These guys play well again, and you know, and as Monday, as Monday press conference, a jet fish with us that he said, look, we're practicing hundred five. It's pretty hot here, you know. Okay, so it's eighty five and humid there.
We're it's pretty close. We're pretty we're pretty damn hoigh. It's different, but we're damn hot here. So shut up. You want to slaughter, you just want to exactly all right. Uh, I'm taking this game because it's it's one of the it's one of the good games of the weekend. You know, Look, Texas lost Bejean Robinson, he's gone, and all of a sudden, they think that they're gonna hang with with with Alabama. No, I got Alabama Mine seven and a half at Alabama, So no,
I like that. Yeah, I like that. You but remember that in your in your history, Texas played them pretty well last last year. But I you know, I like that. Pick I think Alabama at home. Uh. Look, they're not gonna take any chances either. You know, they know they you know, they're not people don't think well of you people there. They're not being picked universally to be in the playoff and stuff. So sure they're gonna put it this way. I think Alabama's playing within
us against the world mentality. Yeah, which is, which is good for them when you're really good already and now you roll that thing out. So I like Saban is one of the masters at that. Really no one believes in us blah blah blah. You know it's from that a flat commercial with him and d That's what it's come to exact. So, okay, Alabama minus seven and I like that pick, but I don't because all these games
that I saw are kind of full games. They're kind of full games because do you look at them, that's obvious, that's an easy that's obvious, but then it tends not to be not obvious, like the like the game. Have you done too? I've done two college. I won't say to something I'm going to college. Okay, so me too, you are, I'm going to the college. Okay, I'm staying because I didn't pay attention to the NFL that that much. This week, I'm going with Colorado.
I liked it yesterday. I want to stick with it, and Colorado over Nebraska at home. Will they be fooling themselves? Probably, of course, But three points or whatever, it's gonna be three that is, I think that's a given. That's a game. That's yeah, that you know again, that's that, that's the direct But look when that when when when Vegas, that's a line they're they're sending it with some knowledge. They know way more than you are. I know. Sure, there's a reason it's my
three right, there's a reason Colorado's only a three point favorite. They see something match up, or it's too early still whatever, right, you know, and they still really don't know. You know, if if they said it to if they said it to ten, the people are all over Nebraska. This is if they said it to seven, I think I'd still be okay, yeah, yeah, you know, I think I'm getting four points that I don't need. Well, I'm not touching. Good okay. Good
thing away from that we got We've got three different college that's good. All right, I'm going I'm next one. I'm taking a team that I thought was very impressive, taking on the team that was just absolutely sucked. Lastly, taking Utah giving only seven and a half to Baylor. They're at Baylor. Baylor lost to Texas State. Yeah, all right, Utah beat the hell out of Florida, I mean just lit them up, and uh and and and the thing about Utah is their game travels right physical, they play
defense. They just got to kick your ass and you can be yelling in the rear the entire game and they can be and they can see really good. I thought you might go with the Oregon Texas Tech game because those are the same thing, right, the same things, the same thing, right, the same thing. We should go with two team parlays. I liked that. I felt more confident with with the Utah with the Utah game against Baylor, right, just you again, they their their game travels better,
I think so. I like Utah on the road against Baylor giving the seven and a half. Yeah, I did, Like I looked hard at that. Or it's the same. You can just the same premise on both teams on the road, both of them. Okay, so okay, now we got two pro games and we both have to take charges Dolphins. So which one you're taken? Wait? Wait? Wait? Wait? Uh did I say my best bet now yet? Oh? I didn't lock, but either I'm gonna take Colorado. That's gonna pay me. But I'm gonna take Colorado.
I'm gonna lock. Well, you don't have to. You can double luck. You can double luck. No, I'm gonta no, but I'm not gonna lock either my NFL games. I am going to lock. I'm gonna lock Alabama. Okay, I got Colorado. Okay, Colorado. I we talked about this over under thing with with Colorado. I liked them over three and a half. I'm gonna stick with them, so we talked about it. Yeah, right, Okay, what's your next what's your next game?
Okay, I'm gonna go for an obscure team that I mentioned. I think I start of the day before Baltimore Ravens, and I think they're getting out ten uh ten to Texans, to the Texans only because the Texans are the Texans. Yeah, and it's at home. I like Baltimore. Maybe i'd be a sleeper team this year. Uh you know, I've bet them to win it a while back, and I think that maybe they'll have a chance. I hate eight double digit point spreads in the NFL. I made
them, do you know. I don't worry about numbers. But but but that could that could be a push. That could be a push. I just I just hate them. I can't stand them. And there's a there's a number like that. There's a stat about double digit numbers yeah, I think. I think I've gone and dug up that number somewhere before, but I really really don't like it. All right, So, okay, you got the raven Did you love me picking Ravens minus ten over the Texans?
Okay, yeah, I'm happy you took that. All right. I'm taking to night's game. I'm taking the chief whoa, I'm taking. I'm gonna watch the game, one little juice on it. I'm not gonna go to Draft Kings and do anything with it. All. The Draft Kings has a really cool bet. You bet the money line and if your team leads by seven. I've done that before. I've done that before. I get one of those. Yeah, I think. I think, No, that's a good bet. The line dropped to four and a half. Now it's four.
But for us when we put when we get these lines this morning, it's four and a half. I know Kelsey is out. I don't think it matters. The Chiefs are at home, They're still the Chiefs. The lines may be good, but I think the Chiefs by a touchdown at least in this game. That's so I'm taking the Chiefs. Yeah, I think the smart money or the big money would be not big money or smart money. It's just the favorites, you know what you know about Kansas City would
go that way. That's what I'm that's that's that's what I'm doing. Kansas City is Kansas City. Right. It's the first game of the year. You know, they're defending champs again. They're coming out and they're going to try to take care of business and try and do it. Okay, so another game that we both have to take. I didn't know which way to go, to tell you the truth, I really didn't. I wanted to do pick Miami. I wanted to pick Miami, so I didn't. I
went with Chargers at home. Three. It's not a big number. I hate the point spread. Yeah, it's gonna be a push, you know it's gonna be. So I'm gonna go with Chargers. They'll pretty kicker field goal and we'll both be screwed, but everybody will be screwed. So I'll take the Chargers minus the three. I'm taking the Charges as well. I'll tell you several years ago in this in this pool for the entire year, I just I got the point spreads and I eliminated any game, any game
where the line was three, seven, ten or fourteen. It was a bad spread. Yeah, I didn't do love that year because what it did is eliminated a lot of games that maybe, Yeah, it was a good you know, it was an easy point spread when I would just look at the lines and I would cross off any game there was three, seven, ten or fourteen automatically. And it didn't leave me enough games. But I stuck with it for one year to see how work, and Larry call it
didn't work very well. Oh all right, so here we go. H Steve's picks. Steve has UCLA minus fourteen and a half, Oklahoma State minus three at ASU, he's taking He's taking Colorado and Dion Sanders giving three to Nebraska in Colorado. He's got the Ravens minus ten over the Texans that's in Baltimore, right, yeah, okay, and then we both got the Chargers
taking giving three to the Dolphins in San Diego. I've got Oklahoma giving sixteen to SMU, Alabama giving seven and a half to Texas, Utah giving seven and a half to Baylor at Baylor. And then I've got the Chiefs tonight minus four and a half against the Lions. Solid picks if I like yours too, you know, yeah, I hope you lose them all, but I like them. Well it's gonna be except for the charge. I don't hope you lose. I don't want to push there either, because well,
if it's a push, that's everybody, everybody. I kind of do two. It's just a straight you know when you first start. Yeah, I felt good about my picks last week. You killed, well you killed in a bad way or they close. No, no, but no, I had Nevada. They got blasted. I had I had uh Ohio State giving like thirty six. They didn't even get to thirty six, or maybe with thirty three or something like that. And then I had what else did I have? They were terrible. I thought you had more than one. I
not only got one. I think I got the Washington game, yeah, Washington. Oh, I had LSU all right, I got blasted. Yeah I had that one. And I can't remember my fourth game, but it was a it was a loser too, oh yea and they lost. So you're you're the nonbeliever. Yeah I am. I mean I continue to be. I don't want to touch that Colorado. But you weren't you weren't, though you you kind of started going that way. I didn't think they were
gonna be TCU, though honestly did. All right, we're gonna we're gonna hit the road here. It's the last show for the weekend. I'll see you, guys, We'll be here. Steve will be back on Monday. I won't. I'm taking a four day weekend with my wife for her birthday. Going to be in San Diego. Will be watching the Mississippi State game from there. She does remember you, she does remember me, and she's
going with me to see her. I'm going to thank you thanks for being here all week, and we'll see you on Monday.
