Stringy Live. I mean, iHeart radio. Wow. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Heay, welcome back to IL in the ball here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jake got Kevin with some breaking news. This is I on the Ball Breaking News on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. All right, did not mess it up that time? One for two this week? We're going two for two next week? Okay, we got no no next week? Oh,

you're right, two for two next week, next Thanksgiving? This week new Yeah, we're still gonna be on Mondays Wednesday. But he said two for two. Yeah, here, I'm on Thursday. Oh you're you're going Thursday? Okay, yeah, alright, all right. One for one is your easy come in if you want. We can talk about that anyway. As far as breaking news goes for today, we're gonna go ahead and start with the newest update in the Michigan scandal. Michigan and Jim Harbob going ahead

and pulled their litigation against the Conference for the three game suspension. He's going to accept that and he will not be on the sideline for their final two games and the game this weekend against Maryland where they could win their one thousand game as a program. Okay, I mean, you know, the bigger deal is going to be what the n C DOUBLEA does, right, the n C Double A, you know, punish them, Will they do it

further? Will they do it this year? That's expled if they're not gonna do anything after the season just because of the process that's in the rules. They can win a national title and then be affected in all all the you're not national champions the well, but see the n C Double A can't do that because the College Football Playoff is not part of the n C Double A. You know, but they can make them vacate all their wins or something like that. But you know, you win if they win the College Football

Playoff. They win the college football Playoff because the nc double are no jurisdiction in that. So but you know, and they can't stop them from they can't stop them from playing. Yah. Yeah, all right, Next we got the Virginia Attorney General is has sent a letter of demand to the n C Double A, threatening legal action if they do not change the rule that it currently excludes the undefeated JMU football team from the New York six Bulls.

Right, they lost their appeal, yes, or they lost the announced they lost their appeal last night, and then the Attorney General sent this in this morning kind of saying like this rule is unfair. Yeah, they're actually threatening an anti trust lawsuit. The thing is they knew the rules going in. It's not it's not unfair because these are the rules. And now they say, well, we don't like the rules because we're having a great year. I mean, I get, I understand, but you knew the rules going

in, so I don't know, you know, stop. Yeah, And I think if they weren't so good, maybe they wouldn't have right, if they were five and six, they wouldn't get you know, there wouldn't be this would be or on. Yeah, Jameis Winston, what about Jameis Winston. He's actually gonna it's a good news this time. NY New Jersey retired by UH before this weekend, UH for their game upcoming against North Alabama. Okay, so it should be a good night to do that. We're gonna

say he took some more crab legs from somewhere. MLB has announced the next couple of all Star Games. So the Braves are going to get the twenty twenty five All Star Game after they got twenty twenty one taken away from them. Oh okay, Philly, I thought this is pretty interesting. Philly's gonna be given a twenty twenty six All Star Game because it is the two hundred

and fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Okay, so that's why Philadelphia is getting twenty But baseball teams that at the time above my pay grade, and then the Rangers get will get next year's Rangers have next year. Yeah, Okay, the Big Twelve and the WWE are coming together on a partnership for this year's championship game. There's gonna be a collaboration logo on the field, and then the most outstanding player will get their own customized

championship built. Okay, but he doesn't have to go wrestle for it or anything like that. We could, we could dream, but no, that's an interesting relationship there. Yeah, but as WW country over there, most people get that get serious into that. People love that stuff. I mean I did as a kid, you know, I really like that stuff as a kid. But thankfully you've grown up, it's not real. What we'll talk about that after Fox Sports anchor Carrissa Thompson as has been in a little

bit of hot water today for some things she said to Barstools Sports. She came out and said, go ahead. No, she came out and said that despite having said it before, she's not been fired. But she used to make up some of her sideline reports from coaches saying, you know, she just couldn't get the interview with a head coach coming off the field, so she might go into her stand up and say, well, they talked about needing to be tougher on third downs, executing better and just kind of

saying coach speak that never actually was said by that coach. So you said hot water? Did you see some blowback? Now people on the internet are just making fun of you. Wow, there's there there is from other females sideline or there's no question. Yes, as they should be as they should be because they should be. You know, you got somebody said, you know again, everybody else's credibility goes into the crapper because of her right and

they're upset. I mean, Steve, I know, hey, you know you're talking to somebody I don't even know how to go this way because I could sell sexist or whatever it's for anybody who may know. But how did why did she get away with it? That's my kind of point where I want to go with. If you're a coach, if I'm a Maryland coach with the well House state coach and that what he she said she talked to me? Why did he say she never talked to me? Yeah? Does

it make sense to makes it makes total sense? I mean that's how and that's how you find those things out. You know, we said, well do you never talk to me? Right? You know? So how do you? You know? What are you saying? And and again it's just a geat. You know these h you know, the sideline reporters. They're half entertainers half journalists, right, but there's still there's still a bit of

journalism in that because they're reporting on something that's supposed to be happening. I write about this every note and again when every basketball season they scored the basketball, what the hell else they scored? They're shooting the basketball, they're scoring. So so the halftime they go and talk to Behan for two minutes or a minute or what are two questions. The most useless interview you'll ever need,

the most useless. I mean, okay, so we didn't shoot the ball, Well we saw it, of course, What do you need that quote? What do you write? And how often do they ask a question that doesn't get answered? Right, they're not gonna you know, Nick Saban is a master at that. Yeah, you know, you can ask him anything you want. He's gonna say whatever. He's gonna say, right, you know, And there are others who are like that. They're pointing to

me, there's the point. They are very pointless. There's pointless as the interviews from the got Yeah, we're actually just going to bring up they've been they've been going down to the bench and sending a reporter in during the game to talk to people that just cut off the eyes. Well, they did that, turn going. They did that during the Major League play Major League Baseball playoffs. They were talking to players who were in the game, you

know, during the inning. Well, the Indian is going on. Now. What I do like, I do like because I think it's fun is when they when they put a microphone on a guy who's out in the field. That's really cool. But the whole You know how that home run feel? Yeah, blah blah blah. Good. I don't know. Yeah, it's pointless. It doesn't make any sense to me. And I don't even know. Then they'll say, oh, the the the the the listeners, will the viewers want to hear it. No they don't. They're just creating

a cat and house thing and they want to hear it. No they don't. The research says it does, No, it doesn't. Bottom line is, you can't make stuff up. I don't care. I don't care what your situation is. You can't make stuff up. I think you should be fired. I really, I see her getting in trouble somehow. I think she should be fired. That's a tough that's a tough thing. That's a

tough thing. I think it's just I think it's unfortunately because you do, even if it's a small way to shift the narrative just a little bit, because that you know, people want to listen to what their head coach might have to say, what adjustments they might be able to expect going into the next half. But yeah, can't you make a stuff up? Well,

there's another issue. She's another person who's falling forward that yeah, Yeah, I don't know, it's just it's just, you know, the credibility of journalists is bad enough as it is without somebody admitting that they lie exactly. Yeah, I got two more things for you guys. First things First, we want to welcome back to Deem Carry this weekend as the honorary captain for the U of A football team for Saturday's game against youtah. Have you seen

him lately? I've seen him a couple of times. She looks good. You lost a lot of weight, he's leaned. Uh, he's not this big, which made him very durable, right, but now he's not as durable over there because he doesn't have to be. Yeah. Well good, yeah again, what sort of one of the underrated great ones? Right?

He was so damn good? Yeah, but then you know his NFL career didn't materialize, but he just kind of you know, and you know, and plus he's a local kid who do you think has some more notoriety too or you know what, rhadoriz is not the right word, Scooby, or could he even carry? I think Scooby, I know, for odd reasons, right, yeah, because Carrie had a better career. Yeah, so that's to your point. Yeah, no it is. And you know, I'm not sure why, but yeah, no, I think I think Scooby

is. You know, he's more at the top of the list, right whatever, for whatever reason. And then the last thing for today, the MLB owners unanimously voted to move the Oakland Athletics to Las Vegas. But they don't know where they're going to play for the next couple of seasons. It could be a minor league park, it could be somewhere else. They're booting them out of the well, their their contract at the oak The costume is old. Yeah, they play until so they got to figure ot where they're

going to play. Get all you far hanging on the phone. He'll get him down here and play the Look you try to get the Raiders to come here and practice, right, Yeah, well, you know, well, and Justin Spears and I were walking out of the press Converson and talking about Justin said, Las Vegas has a triple eight team. You know what about that? Yeah, let's get those guys down here. Okay, Justin, we'll get we'll get it going. You know, I told him I bring

it up today, So go ahead and get that ball roll. Yeah, we'll call Mike Vader and Pat Darcy and those guys get this ball roll and our guy Pima. Uh, it's a yeah, your chance, we'll get us a triple eighteen. That be fine. And then that was it for today. I don't know if you guys want to talk about the Big Baby Glenn Davis. Oh, well there's a connection to you. Yeah, we'll buy them, Yeah, we'll buy them in Big Baby. It's part of

that. Mm hmmm. They just having sentenced him there, Yeah, you could get more than five years, both those guys doing what help helps. It was Friday, NBA Healthcare fri right, like with fake surgeryes, fake injury. Guys. Guys, guys, guys, man, So what else is out there? That's it today? Guys? Okay, well just uh who do we have? We got? Uh, Cory Williams coming out talks some Arizona basketball. Now, we haven't talked about that all day today. Yeah, let's let's one just go. We got it. Well, we

should got three minutes. We got three minutes when we get us to four fifteen, the actual time we I told recond him at for eighteen. Look, there's a nine o'clock game tomorrow. Let me let me, let me bitch a little bit about this. The nine o'clock game tomorrow. Then we got a twelve thirty football game, so tailgam starts for us like it's seven, so you know, I'll get home at midnight, so like a basketball

game sounds like a personal problem problem. It has been suggested that I just after the basketball game is go park my car on the lawn and uh, we're not going to Charlie tailgate. Excuse me, get the tailgates started right there? What do you think I mean? I think it's I think it's a good idea. Cooking up some treatise on eggs right at about midnight. We're in the engine of the we're going to cook it up. I have Arizona Duke at a home at home one time, and now we got the

camping out before games starting up. It's one of those propane burners. You've got a couple of burners. We're going to cook some We're going to cook somet and eggs on Saturday music and we're having some you know, mimosas and uh and uh you know then then you know some some some of that stuff like bagels and papa. There's also the thought that you don't have to go to these games? Said, do what do you mean I don't have to go to the I don't have to go to the basketball game. Well you

can. You have a choice. We have choices. I don't have choices on that. The basketball game. They need me. The game doesn't start without I'm a part of that. Actually would start without me, but the stats would just be those. Here's one for those For people who've been going to the games. It was a pretty much every game up until a few games ago, that damn scoreboard wasn't working right. Yeah, we caught it. It's fixed. What the hell happened? Because we wondered to s it

was a software issue? Yeah, because last game it definitely didn't. It was. It was a software She worked for the women's game on when did they play Tuesday? Oh, you haven't even talked about that. How they look Tuesday? They look better? You know, they're they're a middle of the road packed off seven seventh or eight. Yeah, they're they're a middle of the road team. There's you know, nobody, you know, their best player, you know, well, the two best pas as Mary as

Mary Martinez and Helene Lane play. I had two points the other night. She she's a great defensive player, has a huge impact defensively. She had nine rebounds, a bunch of steals. But she's got a score. As Mary Martinez, she still gets in foul trouble. She's got to watch that and she's got to score. Who do we have on the show? The guard? Who's Kaylen Gilbert. She's the one who's like scoring and doing all

the stuff. Because she was on the show right there was a you know, they were they were in a close game and then she kind of got loose and scored a bunch of points, and you know, and they they beat San Diego. You didn't feel like they're ever gonna lose that game. But there the hotel, Yeah, you can tell they're the middle of the road team just because they just they don't have enough, I don't think. Yeah, we gotta get her on, get her on. I don't know

the time of questions we'll ask her. They're already in the Bahamas, man, Yeah, I know they left. They left, Uh this morning. All right, Uh, okay, we got it. We'll be back. We're gonna have Corey Williams will be joining us to pox and warres on the basketball and get some of his thoughts on what we've been saying so far,

Breaking down all the exes at Oh, it's Steve Rivera and Jacin Salves. This is I on the ball on Fox Sports fourteenth. Hey, welcome back to I'm aut hero Fox Sports Fortune Shifty Steve Rivera, He's Jacos Awesome. Now the phone we have Bola Yobe Hooper. Corey Williams college basketball analyst. How many years have you

been doing this though? Oh? Man, I started right when Sean Miller got involved, So my first year, so I'm not sure four eleven or twelve, yeah, fourteen, fifteen years ago because he was twelve years you. Yeah, you're like an old grizzled veteran ste Yeah, like yeah. I saw Corey the other day and I looked at his beard after he's getting a little, yeah, little age on me. It's wisdom, man, wisdom. I call it wisdom. I'm sure it looks better on you than

it doesn't when you're six five. Yeah, okay, Hey, hey Corey, when did you start wearing your low ti and why started? I did a few years with they sending regular tighs. I started that probably around twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen, I think, so, just to change it up for what it was a gift for my nephew, and you asked me to wear and I did, and then I said, you know what, I'm gonna stick with it. I had a good call, and you know, at a company as big as ESPN, you really got to stand out.

And I figured they were in my early in my career. We were getting a late Thursday night and Sunday night games on ESPN U, and I had to do something to keep the viewers interested. So I figured I tried a both tide. Okay, all right, that's legit, legit. Okay, let's go to the basketball basketball team. What did you see against Duke? And then we'll go to the recent game. Well, what I saw against

Duke was a good level of energy. I think when you go play in a hostile environment like that, you're not going to shoot the lights out. What you want to do is muck it up and make things difficult for the home team because they're a team playing with the confidence in the momentum. So what I saw of Arizona was great energy. On the defensive end, they were very and I hate to use this word because it's such a cliche, but they were very scrappy. Yeah, and that's what it takes when you

have an off night. If you've got that scrappiness, that toughness, you can get wins on nights where you don't play well offensively. So to go down to Duke, play defense and come out of there with a win, I think that's a lot that they can build on. Well, use the word scrappy. I thought they were very aggressive, and particularly Keishad Johnson, he's just been he's just been a beast in there and just you know, he's not taking crap from anybody. No, and you look at his pedigree

where he played. I know the program over at San Diego State. He comes from a great program, a tough nose program. But you know there's something about when you have that Arizona across your chest, that's a brand like none other. And then you get the chance to play in Cameron, which is one of the methods of college basketball. I think everything was set up for our guys to rise to the occasion, and they did. They played

very well. Well. You mentioned it because you're part of this back in your career, because it happened a few times ninety three, ninety four, no one thought anything of you. Guys. You go to Maui, or go to and do very well, loosing Kentucky, but play very well in your senior year. No one thought much of you guys, even though you guys were pretty good at ninety five ninety five and maybe unranked or ranked very low and go to New York and crush it and people start paying attention.

Yeah, I mean a lot of times, that chip on your shoulders a great motivator. I think every athlete, regardless of the sport, has to have a chip on their shoulder. For me, the most important thing didn't take place during the Duke game. It was kind of hoswod and if you act words where he mentioned Princeton by name, and that really kind of left out at me because in that moment, you just got through the great win.

He's talking about the miserable exit from the tournament. That was the last time that those guys were on a stage that was big and they didn't get the job done, And they carried that all throughout the summer and put it into this opportunity at Duke. That to me indicated that this team understands it's more than just you know, showing up and playing. They have they have an axe to grind. They have a chip on their shoulder. They're working

towards something. They know what these games mean outside of the moment. So so looking at what they look like, you know, again a mission mentioned Keishad Johnson. You know. But the other thing that you see that's glaring about what they're doing is those four guards, the four interchangeable guards that can come in and do the do the job that that Tommy needs them to do out there. Yeah, and you know, I don't want to say this and have everybody upset at me right now, but the offense, in my

opinion, doesn't look good right now. Okay, when I say that the offense doesn't look good, what I mean is it's going to take a while. This is only the third or fourth game of the season. They've got a couple of games coming up, So I don't expect the offense to look good right now. And I think, you know, behind closed doors, Tommy might tell you the same thing. These guys have to find a way to play and develop a rhythm, and then the offense is going to get

better. Because the one thing you can't say is these are our consistent looks, these are the plays we run to get these shots and this is your role that you can't go you know, guys one through seven and tell them exactly what their role is. Yet so much of that is still up in the air, which is what made the win so impressive, because they don't

really have an offensive leader. Yet, they don't have a rhythm. There were there are no easy I mean a couple of years ago and even last year you could set your watch to the high low with bollow was that was

the route part of their offense. They got that look a few times against Duke, but that was it. I think they're going to settle in offensively and when they do, they definitely will be one of the top five teams in the country because it just low as with weapons and luckily they had enough talent to get in dont So we had Reggie on here maybe two three weeks ago, and I just brought up this observation and maybe you can agree or disagree, but back when you were playing as well, you had Damon,

Kalid and Reggie the three guard offense and and and you know they interchanged the interchange. Joe McLain was with you are kind of on the wing and JB and Rayos but these three, Jay says four for this team. But do you see some similarities where there's a lot of moving parts in the back court. Not really, because the way we played with that three guard offense, we had the ball screen for Damon and we knew exactly what was going to happen out of that. If you took away the ball screen, then it

went to Rayos. If you took away Rayos, then it went to me, Joe McClain or Joe Blair. Like everything was so structured because we knew who our one two punch was, and we knew that we had NBA level guards that even the best coach in the country, Okay, you're gonna make Kalid Reeves go baseline. Fine, who's gonna go baseline and throw a lot of Joseph Blair Like we set off of those guys, So that dynamic was different. Our team leaders were so well defined when we stepped on campus in

August, we knew it was Damon and Khalid's team. In that regard, it's different. But you talk about interchangeable, sometimes less is more. I'm a big fan of that when it comes to college basketball coaches. To tell me we don't have a it's offense by committee. You're not gonna last long in college basketball. Oh, we don't have a leader. We don't have a go to guy. Anybody can be that guy or maybe give a night

coaches give me that SoundBite, I know they're in trouble. You have to have an offensive pecking order, and either the coach can decide it or the players can send it for themselves. But something has to really fall in the place before the Pack twelve starts. Do you think Colan Boswell can or is that guy or kill There's no question in my mind. Colin Boswell needs to be on the court all forty minutes of the game to be I mean, he is a real point guard, and the beauty of it is he'll play

whatever game comes to him. If the jump shots come to him, he'll take those. If the penetrations come to him, he'll take those. If the assist come to him, he'll throw the assist. You have to have someone out there running the show, and Colin Boswell approved last year. He was that guy, and he's surrounded by talented people. He's a threat and him being out there helps other people get their game off. But the other thing is I watch how he brings the ball up the floor with his head

up. He's looking at the big man, he's looking at the wing running, the pope running the lane. He's decided where the ball goes, not chaos when he's out there, and I think they have to stick with that formula. I'm a huge fan of his. I hope. I'm pretty sure that's obvious, but yeah, I think it's great to see a solid point guard out there. And I know that takes a lot of pressure off everybody else. And he's only eighteen, I say that joke. Yeah, So

what about Caleb Love? Then? You know that's the question mark because he's such a big time player and he can explode for twenty five on any given night. He doesn't have to have the ball in his hand, but my god, is he good when he does have the ball in his hands. I think what's gonna happen with Caleb Love is he'll try to fit in the thing. He's going to have a couple of Gilbert Arenas knights. You can

book it, write it down right now. Caleb Love will have a couple thirty point nights at Arizona, and the fans are going to fall in love with them because they haven't seen that part of his game. They don't remember how he played at North Carolina. I do, and sometimes it's hit or miss. But that kid can score, he can play, he's aggressive. It's going to be interesting to see if he can establish a rhythm not having

the ball in his hand as much as he's used to. You know, you mentioned, you know how how frequent the last year they used that high low with with Ballow and Azulus. But key Shot is a way different player than Azulus, and it's kind of showing that, you know, Babo's not getting the opportunities that he was getting, you know, when it was Azulus. It'd be interesting to see what what how he operates in this offense because it seems to me already he's got a different role than he had last year.

Well, that can be a little deceptive because what's actually happened is and key Shots can't kill me when he sees me. But Keyshot doesn't have much of an outside shot, where as did so Azulus at the high post had to be respected, which opened up the high low hell. Azulas from the three point line had to be respected, so that spaceing happened for Ballow that doesn't happen right now with Jishot at the four. But here's the thing, Arizona, just like last year, is going to pound you and pound you

inside because they've got the big bodies. Key Shot is so active and he's so physical. Keep in mind, they don't run any place for him. So when you look up and see that he has twelve and ten, he did that on his own. They're not running ice though place for Keyshot Johnson. He's getting rebounds, he's getting put backs, he's running the court and getting breakaway dunks. Like his athleticism, his activity, Bollow will begin to

benefit from it. It's a different type of four to play alongside because I've played along I've been a four most of my career, so I know what my job is to the wings, and I know what my job is to the big man. They're going to develop a symmetry. But you're right, the high low may not happen as much, but I think Bolo eventually is going to find himself getting a ton of offensive rebounds. He's going to get a ton of one on ones in the block because key Shot will be diving

for the dunks and the passes. If you won't be able to double bottle. So we talk about this all the time. If they had Kisha Johnson last year the year before brought some kind of toughness, some uniqueness near the basket, they would have been very good. Who does he remind you of? I have my I have my idea. You know, Keishat reminds me of Michael Wright. He reminds me of a guy named Jesse Perry who played He reminds me of a Wayne Romack to go way back like that, that

scrappy, powerful four. You know, we've had a bunch of them in Arizona over the years. You know, he's not He's a bruiser and very physical like Ben Davis who I've played with. I think A. J. Bramlett to a degree was a physical four, but he was an athletic. Yeah, he's just another long line of great fours at Arizona. But you're right, that toughness, that grit when things go bad, he's the guy that's gonn huddle them up, pound his chests and get those guys back out

there great and fired up. Well, he to me, he's the combination of Bennet Davison and Jan Edgerson. Yeah, and God forbid, I can't believe I missed Gene. Gene was the ultimate warrior for Arizona now that I think about it, I mean, Jean's the prototype for the physical power forward at Arizona. I think as finesse as the ninety seventeen was if they didn't have Gene in their throwing bowls, they wouldn't have got that far right, No, totally agree. Well, we'll put your national hat on for a

little bit. What have you seen nationally? You know, you had those games a couple of nights ago. You know, Duke and Michigan State, Kentucky and Kansas. You know, Arizona is now in that picture because of the win over Duke. You know who is it? Is this going to be a wide open year for everybody? Or is it the usual suspects? It's gonna be it's gonna look like the usual suspects because the blue Bloods dominate

TV. They're the ones that always get the national games on Fox, from ESPN and so on, So everybody's gonna get a solid dose of the blue blood and all this, and then the tournament's going to happen and some known name mid made your team's gonna end up in the Final four, because that's just what happens when I watch basketball right now, the November December time, I'm watching, Who are you playing and how are you playing. If you're

playing small schools and blowing them out, that's great. If you're playing small schools and you're struggling, then I raise an eyebrow. If your offense isn't clicking because you're just doing dribble handoff and I just see so much dribble handoff that drives me crazy. That's not going to get you through a twenty five game regular season. You've got to have more than a dribble handoff motion offense. You got to have some big some full balance, some action where you

guys are going to do something consistently night in and night out. And I haven't seen anybody who looks like they're in mid season formed. I thought Kansas looked good because they had the inside outside balance. I love their perimeter players. Honestly, I just sit on the sideline and eat my popcorn until January first. January first is when I really locked in and started looking at who the top fifteen sixteen teams are in the country right Okay, well, Corey,

we really appreciate it. We'll get back to you when you start eating your popcorn. All right, sounds good man, You gotys take care of it, Thanks Corey. Corey, all right, I know you already going on. fourteen to fifty. Hey, welcome back to R on the Ball. Here know Fox Sports fourteen fifty on Steve, you're Jay with Devin with us today thirteen minutes. If you going to call and give us a call, we'll hear from you. Yeah, five years, zero, four, one, six, seventy four to forty. Good stuff from Corey Williams. Interesting that he thinks that the offense isn't looking good yet. Yeah. Yeah, it makes sense though, because it was a struggle against dude three games in.

Yeah, and some people will say it was a struggle last game. Yeah, at least for the first half of that. I don't disagree with him because it has been a little It was stilted in the first half for sure. And again, a bunch you guys, as he said, right, trying to figure it out. Imagine, imagine when they do click, it's gonna be in the hundreds a few more times, because what we know is that they've got really good players right right right, and we know that already.

It still new and it's still new. I mean, like I say, three games in, I still think that, and I agree with him with the Caleb Love. I don't know if he's gonna score thirty, but you know, you know, he wants to, He wants to and he's there's gonna be like he said, there's gonna be games where he put points on the board, but you know he is gonna do that. And if there's a game where we need him to, he's definitely one of those guys that is more than happy to be like, oh you need me to score

tonight, All right, let's go. Let's go score twenty points tonight, five points tonight. Yeah. No, I'm looking forward to seeing him. I look at those guys, Steve and and and you know, we keep mentioning the four guards. I just don't recall Arizona having four guards that look like that. No, not not with four guards, No, because there was only had like the McConnell's time. It was McConnell, right, and and Johnson did other things. And think of think of Khalid and and and

Damon and and Reggie. You know, Damon was a little guy, right, you know, Khalid was the bigger, strong guy, but sort of a gliding kind of guy. You know, Reggie was he was sort of

in between those two guys. These guys are four physical tall guys, right, they're six three, you know, with these broad shoulders and looks like they look like guys that you know, if you don't have a guy like that covering them, you're gonna be a little bit of trouble, sure, right, I mean, think of how many times we thought Kirk Crisa was overmatched last year trying to cover a guy who was who was like one of

these four guys. As much as as much as we liked that team last year, and I think we did, we can now see that it was flawed. Yeah, and not so much in the Princeton game, but just but when they lost to Washington State, you're thinking, what were lost? They lost strange games? Well, there were times throughout the year that you thought they were overmatched at some of those positions. Yeah, right, you thought, wait a minute, you know they're they're you know, this is

the other team's got a better guy at that position, you know. And I think there's gonna be a lot less of that look. And I'm not saying Arizona's gonna every position have the best guy on the court, but they got a bunch of guys and and I think that's the thing that we're already seeing is going to be sort of a characteristic of this team that whoever they put on the floor is going to be gonna be able to handle what's going

on on the floor. Yeah, And I think what you're saying is you can just they have a bunch of players that can play different roles on a different night, and you can just throw those guys at the matchup that's needed for that specific night. Yeah. So, I you know, I each game, I'm kind of looking forward to see how they look in each game. You know, you got you got Belmont tonight, You've got Who's Who's on Who's on Sundays Lington? Oh, they play Sunday too? Yeah,

No, I'm too busy. Really, Yeah, I assume you're not going to the game on Saturday, right, No, I'm not going on Friday or Saturday. And I've gotta go whole time. Is it Sundays like four it's four pm on Sunday And then they go to Michigan State Thursday, and then I'm busy. So, you know, I want to see what they do these next two games, to see how they're progressing. So that because look, Michigan State's got two losses, but they're still Michigan State. They're

still probably pretty good. Yeah, you know, they're gonna be tough, and they're backs against the wall now, so like this is like they don't want to come out of Thanksgiving with the third loss. They played Butler tonight or tomorrow. Butler's pretty good with that MANA. Yeah, yeah, tough. No, But you know, the best thing to happen in Arizona is do you know how good you're going to be or you can be how good you can't be? Right? This is why you played those no member games.

Yeah, And I think it goes to what you were talking about with how you look at last year's team and it's not just the Princeton loss, but it's like there were flaws there. I think part of the issue last year is we didn't get a chance to see how low or how high that ceiling could have been, right, And I think this year it's a benefit so early to be able to see like, oh this is, oh where this is where our ceiling is at and we know where it's at a good

point. And you know, the funny thing about is you know when things are going really well, you don't pay attention to the blemishes, right, You just don't because you don't go away. Yeah, Well, they're enough to overcome that whatever, right, you start pretending, no, we're pretty good. What happened over there, we don't talk about it, we don't talk about it, And then and then Princeton shows up, and then you look and say this, this was the problem all year or in the losses.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The Princeton loss was a culmination of all those there where you were the head shaking loss that they yeah, because they had leads and they had a bleed against Princeton and then they couldn't score and they couldn't get a rebound. I guess who would have done that, Johnson exactly. And because because because uh Azulas couldn't Yeah, I was

I was gonna say that they were lacking a steady hand. But in these moments like when things are going left and you just need a guy like a Boswell to be all right, we're gonna cal m down're gonna get a and he was. Was he even game, but most of the game he might have been. It was still that time where we're like, Okay, he needs to play a little bit more, but he's but he wasn't well at that time. So we'll see. There's a lot to like with this team.

There's a lot to learn still with this team. Uh, the point of the of Corey for the offense was it was enlightening I did. Yeah, you know, and he knows a little more basketball than you. Yeah. And the defense, we'll see. I think the defense is is gonna be pretty good. And because these are guys who you know, run up and down and there, you know, like I was, I think I

mentioned the dad was watching kJ Lewis. You know he's in there. He's in there at the end of the game with with the subs, and he was still he was still you know, physical and aggressive and playing really hard defense. You know, because these guys all have they want to play more. And then you know clearly he wants to play. He's the fourth guard, right and so you know his his his minutes are going to be less than the this but if he wants to play, he's got to do that.

And he was doing it and he's and he's good. So how are you going to keep him off the floor? Well, he did go small small. Yeah, they'll go with four guys and either Balow or or or Creis or Crevious or or or just you know, there's gonna be teams that just simply can't handle the size of Arizona, so they will have more opportunity to get him in the game in those situations. I feel like, right, and he's so he's a good pass that he can score. He so

hard I was, and Jay was talking about him playing on defense. I thought he played really hard with the subs on offense, going in trying to crash the board, get steals on the inbound or good steals on the defensive rebound. That's what I was. And he's probably one of the more athletic guys on the team outside of Johnson and maybe Love. I mean it was a Caleb Love who had the dunk jump from the free throw kind of dunk that he missed. No, he made he made one. There was one

that was missed. But yeah, and then kJ went after agressively too. I mean, what's not to like? You know, it is not to like? What is not to like? I like the fact that the game on Thanksgiving the two o'clock what was it? So when's the first game? Is eleven football Detroit and whatever? Right, they know they play like nine thirty in the morning or ten o'clock, ten o'clock or ten thirty in the morning. Okay, and then what's the second game? Dallas Cowboys? And

who? Yes, we got Packers Lions, uh twenty third at ten thirty am Commander's Cowboys, two thirty pm Commanders, Oh my god, Niners Seahawks six nine. Seahawk should be fine. So but two o'clock that's is Yeah, we'll watch the basketball game, but it'll lead right into dinner. You mean you don't want to watch the NFL's leading passer, Sam Howell. He's leading the league in passing yards right now. He is not look it up. I believe you. It's like him. C J stroud and crazy,

crazy to think pissed me off. Last. We love you, J. He has no teams left. I love you. CJ. Were good. I really I was looking at the games today, so you have no idea. I'm mad at everybody. We just mentioned the Thursday night game tonight and lost his lid. I'm mad at everyone. I think I got, I got. I've got a good sense of my my college games. I went through. I said, that looks easy, that looks easy. That looks What do you say you went to Vegas? What do you say? What

do you tell me you came it? You make your picks and then you can go home and you go to Vegas. And he says, I mightn't take these right because I didn't kill it in Vegas. But I didn't. You know, I I broke almost even in Vegas over the weekend, and yet I yet I was over again in uh in the pool. People are asking me if I'm trying to lose. That's always a good sign. It's always you were really bad. Are you trying to be bad? No, No, I'm coming by it naturally. It's just happening, and so it

is. You know, it means you're achieving a rare feet. I am very I'm okay with it. It's the worst. He's already won my money. Yeah, Steve's spending it. But I'm winning all the other bets. Just no, I'm winning all the other bets. You know, he's already out on the PAC twelve championship. No, not really. If Washington wins, that I win. You know, I'm saying you're out because us. Yeah, you don't. You can't win it. You can only not lose it. I'm out of the running. Yeah, but I think my you

lost. You lost the over under on Arizona when oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you lost that. Yeah, because it's so he took the under Yeah, so you lost that. You lost that usc bet that we had even when I took fourteen seven points less than what this point spread was, and I beat you on that, You'll be like eight lunches. No, but then you owe me a lot of cash on these some cash on the other stuff, like five bucks a week as like the payment plan. Yeah,

well it's a week and we're at the end. We're just gonna go no, blood, No, I'm taking the cash to take you the left you on me three lunches then unless they don't happen, No, two lunches and then maybe a third. I have a shot at a third. You I'm gonna make you heavier and more cholesterol. Fool. Yeah, I know the doctor will hate me. Likewise, my doctor hates me, so he's just he goes, dude, you gotta do way better than this. I'm

working on it. I'm working on it, all right. Okay, So tomorrow we're gonna have Eric Walden, who's the beat rider covering Utah for the Salt Lake Tribune. We'll get his thoughts on on Utah. And you know the conversation we have with Mark carln you're talking about Cayle Whittingham and yeah, yeah, I'm fascinated by Carl Whittingh. My brother hates it. Why because

he's because he looks like such a badass. I guess because he's because he's beating the hell out of Arizona and he's done well and he's not he's not a mover, he's not. He's happy there twenty year twenty. He's like the Mark Few of the PEC twelve. Yeah, but you know, just because he wins. Yeah, because he wins and he beats. Because he

wins and he beats. Are people hope grudges better? Dude, Manta, Remember my brothers had three wives, so he's got Oh yeah, well that tells you that decision Baker and just the grudge is the grudge guy, kind of a grudge guy. And then I'm assuming Jake Fisher. Yeah, possibly tomorrow, join us tomorrow. You know, we haven't talked to him in a couple of weeks since we didn't have a show least, So we'll get

there. And to tell you he's gonna gloat, and to tell you that he has reason to glow because he's been the one that's been the most accurate of all of us. He's gonna gloat, he said, he said eight wins. Yeah, he was counting the Bowl game as a win. So he's they're already you know, I mean, they're already there. But Steve there, you know again, this is the game that decides that they can get you wells next week. No matter what happens this weekend, we're gonna

talk about them. Just kept blowing it. And you've seen more of those games than any That's why I hate the I eight because you hate it every time the underdog shows up and does something. You can be you can be really good, and you can piss it away, you know. I mean think back to the ninety eight game, right, Arizona was one. They were ten and one going into that going into that game, and they nearly lost that game. I mean, Ace, you had a ball into the

end zone, you know on the last charined it. I'm sure Peterson might do this, but the underdog has probably fared very, very very well in this series. Yeah, I mean, I think Mike s do first year right as you came in ranked Andrew Walters all that, and Arizona was two and eight and beat him. Yeah, so yeah, it's the worst. All right, Hey, Kevin, nice time today, Thank you. Thank you to Mark Harlan for joining us today and Cory Williams. So we'll be back tomorrow
