This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jagon Salis on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen, powered by Nova Insurance Services Ensure your most Prized Possessions katz R two SAD at iHeart Radio Station. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, he's Jagon's oss. It's Thursday. I think we're on the downhill side of the way. Yes, and like that, and for a long weekend, very love weekend. Yes, we had the vacation earlier. I take

another vacation. Now when football start? When's football start? Besides the packtwel well pacwel media days, right so right, so right after that, I think the team's come back. Look a week art their camps. The calendar, I'm gonna looking, say the whole calendar there, it's probably he is late, you know. I mean the first part of it is like going to these practices and they're hot. No, they're yeah, with the flies

and the flies. You want to go to all that? No, no, no, no, That's why I ask I want the games to start. I'm ready for games. You're talking about games. You need to see how good the guys are going to be. You see what a big game Boomer did today? He named he had the top sports programs in every state, top college college sports. And it sounds by that decision that you've he's made a mistake, huge mistake. Who did he say? And are you what? Oh? Come on, that's like maybe fourth string. He was

just being he's just been a cock ahead. What what's the criteria you find? He said the best college athletic program in every state? Didn't he never lists of criteria? He said in twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three, so this last school year and he named Ana. But what's what It makes noose sense? Who's in New Mexico. He's gonna give me Highlands? What I think? Well, yeah, because New States got Stanford in in California, Okay, Morgan Washington, Boise State, Wyoming. Yeah, Okay,

it's only school there. I think that's Denver University because it's not Colorado, Uh, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Nebraska, South State State, Minnesota, Iowa. He's got the Gators. Um, I mean, that's the only one that's like completely off the wall except for Denver. I guess I don't know if because they had a good hockey season or something. But everyone else's like, okay, yeah, that makes zero sense. So make sure we note that next time we have him one and maybe someone else took

over his computer, they're gonna have to fight him. Wow, I would, I would say Grand Canyon before say he may have done that for you and me. Yeah, I stick it too. Yeah, and I wouldn't, right because why do we do it? We're talking about it, right, Wow, talking about it. But we'll have a bone to pick with him next time we get him on Right. On the flip side of that, he did name Michael Wiley and Jonah Coleman the number ten running back duo

in college football. Number ten. Okay, you know behind Michigan, O, House State, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, Old Miss Wisconsin, Florida, Louisville, than Arizona. Well there's that because they're gonna have good running backs, you think, Yeah, good wide receivers. Two guys are really good, just those two guys. If they got more guys, so you and good wide receivers. Yeah, uh, an apparent good quarterback. We don't know what's gonna happen with him. Um, if the line can

hold, they'll score some points. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and actually so then later on he Big Game he ranked the top fifty best athletic program. So before it was just a map, the best one you state. Then he ranked them all. He said in there you at number twenty. What's wrong with him? I don't know. What does he know that? We don't know. I don't know. Why does he have UCLA? Oh, I see what we said, So you can have more than one in

a state. So but he doesn't have Arizona in the top fifty. Wow, And not that they have to be, but any you whatever they dine, I don't know. I don't know, win some national championships. I don't know. I don't know either. Wow. I'm sure they didn't fall very high on Neil of the series couple Breakfast did. Yeah? Yeah, I mean as is not in there either, in the top fifties. What matter the way he did that? Any have to have a chat with him

at some point. We just throw that out there to get things. Yeah yeah, Big Game bo fired up. We're gonna have to change his name to I don't know who I'm talking about, big Boom. Yeah, that's but ahead Boomers. Yeah, all right, okay, okay, if you guys want to call, we haven't had a couple of calls in the last couple of days. Five two, four, one, six, seventy four forties. The time to call a good show today, right, what do we have? We got Davy Jackson. He's one of the h Uh.

He's a co defensive coordinator for the Sugars because he got a big game this weekend. But a couple of days ago he was inducted in or he was voted into the Indoor Football League Hall of Fame. Uh. He's the sack leader, the career sack leader in the Indoor Football League. I think he had eighty one and the next the next person as like fifty one or something like that. He's way out there. Um, I think I got the hiccups. I think he played eight years in the league, so that's I

mean, that's part of the reason. But he was a really good player. He was you know, I in looking for a mug shot for him for the for our social media today saw him some pictures of him from college and stuff. He was a mean looking dude. He's a big guy, very friendly guy like him a lot um he was. He was one of the coaches that was going to be coaching in the twenty twenty twenty twenty season when when I got asked as the as the president of the team because of

COVID. So he's been around since then. Uh, Like I said, really good guy. Always have a little chat with him before before the games, the home games. They've got home game this week is a big game, so we'll talk to him about that. And why. You know, what he thinks is the been as you say, the magic sauce with the defenses defense, well kind of secret sauce. They've been really good, you

gotta you. But he probably has a lot of his old secret sauce because if he was that good, he probably translates well to the to the good guys. Right, Yeah, in the second hour, we're gonna have add Wheeler right as you would call her professionally what desiree is desire desire Okay, but we call her DD. She's her and um Felicity Willis are holding basketball

camps from girls, and I wanted to talk to her about that. Right she's she's the athletic director for t USD, but obviously doing this, uh you know, on the side to give give some young athletes some opportunities to have basketball campser the one that's coming up in July, they do it saying I agree, Which, well, it's actually the Gregory School, which is very cool for you know, so well talked to her a little bit about the camps and how to sign up, and you know, but what the

people can expect what they go to these camps, right right, we'll talk about just all that and just you know what what the college what basketball has come to for little girls obviously a lot different than how different when she came up, when she was coming up, and it doesn't seem just a lot long ago. You know, it's funny because girls basketball was just starting to be a high school sport back when I was covering high school sports in the

early eighties. Yeah, and wellball too, probably all around that time. Well and you know, I mean they were just learning the game. I mean just the very basic learning how to dribble, learning how to shoot. And to think of how far basketball has become or there's a WNBA, it's it's incredible too. I mean that's a long time, it's forty years, but still, you know, to have seen it at it's very rude and

see what it is now. Of course there were there were other other women playing at higher levels, the Nancy Lieberman's and the the the Ryl Sheryl Miller Miller. That's kind of an extreme case. But but yeah, you know it's coming. That's forty years now, forty years yeah, so okay, we'll talk to her about that. One of the great players along with listening your name up in the rafters. That okay, yeah, then definitely one

of the best players. Good, Okay, So again, if you guys want to call five two o four one six, I've already been texted seventy four forty I've been texting another name for our friend, big game Boomer. They want to call him dumb butt Boomer dumb, but that fits too.

We might have to take names for him. He'll say, you know, does he doesn't get every time he said that, you know what, I'm gonna argue and he'll, you know, he'll make his case, right, he'll I don't know if we went up looked up any used sports is here, maybe the one A bunch of championships. We'll kill the sweetn't cover him. We don't know, right right, Let us know, we'll try to maybe get him next week as we get kind of turning the corner for youa

football. Okay, we should everybody know Monday Tuesday, we're gonna be off next right with with the fourth of July holiday on Tuesday. Um, we thought, you know what, we're gonna take Monday off as well, so he's gonna go out of town. Um, I got stuff with my family and stuff. So we're gonna Monday and Tuesday off. That's a great opportunity for you to go listen to one of our I think twelve hundred and two or uh a little podcast whatever. The podcast we've got posted on the ice

and two. Well you know what I think though, there's two a day right right right. We don't buy the hour since that makes sense, but we've got twelve hundred one hour podcasts that you can listen to because we break it up and so there's two a day. Um, you can go listen to any show that we've we've done that that you might have missed, and we ask you to keep listening to those when we're not around. When we are around, when you're out walking or you know, trying to go to

sleep or whatever. You're doing taking a nap listen to us on the podcast. It's uh, it helps us. But I think we've you know, we've often got you know, good stuff to listen to. We're just having conversation as we as we like to say. Right right, this is shooting the stuff at the bar. Yeah, without the liquor. Yeah. It's like it's like we're come. It's like we're at a bar every day for two hours for happier or whatever you want to say. And whatever's happening today

is what we're talking about. You know, a lot of stuff going on, a lot of NBA stuff going on right now. Um, we'll talk about three agency starts tomorrow, right talking about a lot. We'll talk a lot about this stuff and UH and breaking news. Um, we're still waiting on the UH the U nineteen UH basketball. I thought it was gonna be this morning. It's tomorrow. We're okay, it's on Friday, and so Friday their time, it's at six thirty. It's tonight sixty six o'clock in

the morning our time. So both Serbia and UH the US will be playing tomorrow with the kylum Boswa for the US and Philippe Borovich. I've gotten good at his name. You're gonna love his game. You're gonna love his game. Yeah, he's Uh well, I I I told you yesterday. He doesn't come dressed to the party, but he's good at those guys. Twenty six points in the last one of those guys. You gonna do no matter who you're playing, right, Wow, it was easy to do against my

kid when he was five years old. The more I see how Tommy Load has built his roster, it's gonna be nice. It's gonna be nice. But let me tell you something, Jay, they could go twenty five and five, whatever, the twenty five and five, twenty seven and three, whatever it is, twenty and ten, it doesn't matter until March twenty it does. Luke created this monster. Uh Sean had to live it and try to survive it. He did. And now now, um Tommy's gonna have

to live and survive it. I hear you know. I mean he's again. He's won sixty one games in two seasons. There's still people they're still he's not the guy, right, He's not the guy. The good thing, Jay, that that has died down, Yeah, that has died down because the people that were bitching about it. Now they can't say, well this they can't. They can't, guy, they can't do it. Yeah, now it's gonna be on him. He's got to win those games.

He didn't look worried. He looked, He looked casually, he looked Lucy, looked like he was joking. He's uh, yeah, you know he's he's enjoying the coaching. You know, he's out, he's doing what he likes to do. I feel like I feel like he's not. I don't feel like the demands of the job are weighing on him. No. Right, And like you always felt that that Sean Miller had this load on him on his shoulder. I think that was more of his personality. I yeah

percent agree with that for whatever reason. Right, you felt like the weight was always on Sean Miller's shoulder. Right, look you looked at you looked him in the face. Yeah, just his mannerism is he's press confidence and you just felt like the weight of the world was always You might don't remember this, but I did a story for you guys on BIZ Tucson on Sean and I asked him that question that he uh, he created a beat or

he had to feed the beast. Like we're just talking with Sean with loot and and I said, the recruiting says it's he said it was overwhelming, and I kind of wrote that because once you know, once you sell ten cars one month, you gotta sell fifteen. It's it's it's not easy, man. And he not that. He so that it overtook him, but you can set it with heavy exactly. It was a burden. It was

very heavy on. Yeah, And you know, and then you know, when you saw him last year, he kind of felt like he's somehow figured out how to relieve that burden, burden or whatever it is. If he still has the burden but he handles it better, or if he's just like not let things be a burden and enjoy the job and make the money and have fun and compete. Let me tell you a cute story. I don't

know if it's a qute story, but I run a story. So last year when he had the time off, I was told by some people that he went on vacation, right, uh, he to And I tease Josh about this because he had been not out for for twice seven years. So Sean went on vacation. I think he went San Diego. But oh, I says, this is this is a nice place. This is I've enjoyed this place. And the guy told me the story says it's because he's never

been allowed himself to enjoy himself. You know, when you just kind of say, what the heck, lily's tall buildings, there's water, and we've met these people all along the way. I've worked with people like I was just gonna say, not just in basketball, and I've worked with people like that. But you know, you need to calm down. Yeah, it's not life and death. You know, go take a day off, Go go play some golf, go to the mountains. Oh well, go do

something. Stopped doing this for a little while. It's like I said this to some women, Uh, well you don't buy me flowers. Well you don't have time to smell the roses they're going you're too busy. Does that apply? That applies? You get it. You can't say that to a lady I have many a time. They still see it. Well maybe exactly, maybe you shouldn't. All right, let's take our first fac where to come back. We're have Xavier Jackson, defensive coordinator, for the Sugar Skulls.

iHeartRadio a app. Hey, welcome back to I on the ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's jacas Os. Now on the phone. We have nig Xavie Jackson from the Two Sons Sugars Culture. How are you going, coach? I'm doing good than yourself. We're doing well. Good to talk to you, um, just talk to you about the defense side on that. But first we got to say congratulations, coach. You got you got voted into the Indoor Football League Hall of Fame.

Uh, I mean, how does something like that feel? Right? I mean, it's nice when somebody tells you you're good, but then when they tell you you're in the Hall of Fame, what was that like for you? Well, first off hand, let me let me say a great deal

appreciate man both y'all for saying thank y'all. Uh, to be to be honest with you, to be in the Hall of Fame, to be listed with the greats, it's a it's an unreal experience and it's just a blessing to be in something that man like, Hey, this is what I worked hard for and I made it finally. Nice. Yeah, so you know, I and I get to I get to visit with you be you know a little bit before the games and stuff like that. You're you know, you always seem kind of loose and stuff like that. But then I was

looking at pictures of you while you were playing. You look mean you were you like a mean dude or what what was the I guess you were if you had what eighty some sacks and you were just killing people out there, But what was your approach to the game? Back then when you were playing. My approach to the game is just like the young men today. It is just to get up out of here. You know. I had an illustrious career here at UH in the IFL with a few different teams like see

the Rapids, Nebraska Lacrosse Wisconsin. It was a great experience. I tried to get up out of here as fast as I could, and I thought that, you know, stats would help me with that adventure. Yeah. Well, it takes a special person, I think to play the position you did you did? How do you how do you become the guy or the player you became? There was hard work and I had a great bed tour,

you know. Uh. I give it all to my coaches that helped the coach through the years of the IFL and in college and a different coaches I met in the NFL in CFL to help me. And I put all that together to get the eighty one and the half sacks. Yeah, so well, I mean eighty one and a half and then I think you're you're like thirty ahead of anybody else. I mean, you're way, you're way in the hell out there. That's like a record that might not ever be

broken. Well, I one day it might not be broken, but records are meant to be broken. Yeah, But I mean, if if it's ever broken, I greatly commend whoever does it, And it would have been a blessing to hold it as long as I did. Why is it so difficult to find players at that position to be great? I know that University of Arizona they're looking for those guys. You know, everyone's looking for those

guys, but big, big, aggressive dudes. It's hard because we come a dime a, doesn't you know, Athletic speed, power, all that stuff rolled in the one is very hard to find. And these young men now all the days with you know, the n I L and things like that, it kind of hinders them to come into our league, not knowing that, you know, we have a partnership with the XFL and things like that. It's a great league to be in. And that's why I've been

in there so long. I was gonna say, you've been you've been in football, you know, since forever, but I mean in professional football since two thousand and seven. I mean, that's a that's a good amount of time, you know, both as a player and now you've been coaching for a few years. Um, what what has been? I guess as you see what's been? What's been the track? Why does it keep you going? The love of the game and trying to give these young men an avenue

to show them that, hey, I did it too. This is one of the routes so that I took and you could take it too, you know, like you said, I've been in the NFL, CFL, I played Arena one as well. You guys can play this and go to the next level as well. So I'm assuming you're still under forty, right, you're still kind of a young dude. Are you able to kind of a show technique and show the young guys what you did to be successful. Yes, And that's why I try to instill in my d line now here in

Tucson. You know, I try to show everything that I've learned, also how I used to do it when I was here. That helped me get out of here as well, you know, with little things, and I can go out there still and you know, in practice showing little things walking through. I mean, I couldn't play a whole game no more, but you know, yeah, I mean it's very fun at practice. Showing them

how I used to do it and making them better on game days. So well, I'm pretty sure my my ability to get into a three point stance ended about twenty years ago. You get when we try to get out. Oh yeah, that's a good point. I might be able to get in it, I might not be able to get out of it. Probably looking at your at you at your bio, and you went from you were playing one year and you were coaching the next. Why why did you want to get jump into the coaching piece of this right away? Like I said,

I'm the love for the game first and the foremost. I didn't want to walk away from it that way. I thought that I had enough still in the tank to give to these young men, and why not give my knowledge to them and you know, help them reap my benefit. It's all the knowledge that I have. So so coach. I might lose this argument with Jay, but we go in this discussion a lot, and I'm not going

to tell you which way, Eileen. But here's the question. So you have players, and you were probably one of them, a tough, strong dude playing the position, and you did your job really well. Can you can you can you teach a guy. This is not the right word they'll teach. Let's say you have a good dude who's atlantic and plays hard and all that stuff. Can you teach a dude to be tough or is he already you have to be tough, You have to already have that as opposed

to learning. Yes, you are correct that you know that is something that over the course of time that is ingrained in you. And uh, your upbringing help put you in that situation. You know what I'm saying. It's not necessarily just your mother or your father, you know, just you're outside like the people that you've been around, whether positive or negatively. Right, Right, you're not born with either you are or you aren't. Right,

you could be a heap of a player. You could be a heck of a player and not have that but still be a heck of a player. Yes, sir, definitely, Yeah, definitely, Okay, thank you. I think you can learn to be tough. But what the hell do I know? I didn't I didn't play for I didn't play professional football. So one of the things that we've talked about this year about about this year's team is how the defense has sort of become the identity of the team. You

guys, you guys are really good because you play really good defense. And that's not to same thing bad about the offense. But I you know, you know, be doing doing your home games, watching all your games, you guys are I think you guys are where you are because of your defense. How much of that do you agree with? UM? To be honest with you, like you kept saying, our team, You know, if

our players take on their the personality of their head coach. And you know, y'all see our head coach laughing and smiling and joking like he always does. You get that we all have that fight as coaches and we are on them hard and practice to get the little things right. And I think that they take on the personality whether it's offense or defense, out of our coaches. Well, you were here last year and the defense wasn't all that great.

I mean, how did you guys become this defense that you've become this year? Is it just, guys, is that you change some things up about how you do things? What would you attribute the improvement in the defense from last year to this year? You know, we went on the drawing board after last year, even UM, big up still, Coach Dixie Wooton, you know what I'm saying, for giving me the opportunity to come in here and help with his defense that helped him win a championship in Iowa.

I learned a lot from him, and I've learned a lot from Coach Chan that helped me see different things and where I wanted to improve in the task game and the Roman. Okay, I was gonna ask you real quick because I asked this question now most of the time with coaches, Um, what's your secret sauce? What makes you a special coach? I think we lost him. I think that's what happened. Oh he didn't cut out here? Okay, all right, we did Yeah, Okay, okay, we'll come

back. Yeah. He ended that sentence real quick, So we were looking at each other. Okay, we'll try to get back to Coach Johnson here in a second. Sounds like a good dude, good tough dude. Um, so we'll get back to him. Uh. What time do they practice early in the morning? Yeah? I was gonna ask you because how different call cannot be confused? How difficult was that working out in the morning's fishing in the seat? Okay? Don't pends into this. This phone call,

well, I don't think they can hear the dial though. Okay, we can, we can chat. Okay, this one, this one we got back. Okay, hopefully weekend and they have a game this weekend Saturday, Saturday, cannot be confused. Saturday six o'clock, Saturday six o'clock. It's the veggat the biggest Nighthawks. They have to they can continue to win to get into the playoffs, right, Well, if they win this weekend, yeah, okay, they're trying to do with how many games that three eight

o'clock, six o'clock. What they're trying to do is host they finished first or second, they've winned this game. T Hello, coach, we lost year. Coach, we lost you there for a second. I'm not sure what happened. I was so you're you're talking about your make you one of the great coaches? What makes me a great coaches? As the coaches that I have around me, uh coach Chid Uh coach and DRIs they helped me develop Mike scout of coaching and things like that, and big ups to coach

Dixie move as well. That helped me over the last two seasons put me in a position where I can be successful. So one thing one of the things that Pat Harris and I have talked about on the on the game broadcast is your defensive line. You're the defensive line coach Maurice Jackson and those guys who just you've had a consistent, you know, line line up in the games. These guys have been here every game, whether you're you know,

you're rotating some guys and whatnot. But how much does that help, especially in the league where you know, guys come and go right, but you guys have been had consistently the same guys on the defensive line. How key has that been to how good your defense has been. It's been very key. Like you said, the consistent see, and that's what coach every week is being consisted to do what we ask you to do. Everything else to playing to perspective. Yeah, you know, a guy like Morris Jackson we've

talked about, you got a couple others. He's always knocking the ball down, He's you know, knocking some passage on. Ronald Collins has been out there a bunch of guys. What is is there a difference between a defensive lineman and what he's got to be able to do in this game versus say, you know you've been in the CFL, you were in the NFL, and the skills needed for that level of football. What is how much of a difference is there? It's not much different, you know, it's just

a different in where you're playing, whether it's outside or inside. You know, I tell them to win their individual battles and hopefully you know, in the course of a game, when you have sixty to eighty plays the game, just like outside, you should be able to win those battles. You know, sixty percent of the all right, you wouldn't sexty pursuit of the timing your individual battle. The team will first from that, right. Let

mean that's grew quick because you're a great player in the league. What makes this game so special? The IFL game? Yeah, IFL game was so special because of the fact that, like I've just stated, it is outdoor football played with less people. So when you get back to outdoors, you're not losing a beat. Like I said, you win your individual battle, whether it's up front one on one in the dB wide receiver game and the quarterback reading different coverages every single week. Yeah, Okay, So I gotta

ask you because this just puzzles me. Okay, why the difference between your road schedule, road record and your home record. You guys been great on the road, it's been a struggle at home. Any ideas how or why that happens? I think, and our players said it the best that they got to prove themselves to somebody, and being on the road, they have to prove it. Like man, we're away from home, we have to

dig in and lock in even harder. And there's been a blessing to be around these young men to hear them say that we just want them to click it on at home as well. I mean, yes, I apologize to running that we've had a bad home game hold record, so we don't turn it around at the end. Well you got well you got two home games left. Pat and I were saying, is that a good thing or a

bad thing? I don't know that we that we know hopefully it's a good thing, right, yes, sir, we we do think of it as coaches and players that it's a great thing that we have two games at the end and everybody else was on the road. All right, coach, Well you know, I'll see you on Saturday. Good luck, go out and get one, and you guys clinch clinch a playoff spot if you win. So that's obviously got to mean a lot to your guys. Are they up about I'm sure they are, But how do you use that to get these

guys fired up? We don't have to use nothing. Like you said, they're very fired up this week. We had a great week of practice and we're gonna put a good show on for the home crowd going down the end. We're playing great football in the right time going into the playoffs, and just tell them you're on the road. Just tell yeah, where the white That's what you had to do. Where the white? Right right right now. I think we're gonna put on I know we're gonna put on a good

show this weekend. Man. I greatly appreciate all you guys for coming to the bone yard and supporting us all season. Thanks all right, coach, that's the whole bunch of Sea Saturday art, See you Saturday. Thank you. Cost sounds like a good good guy, he really, isn't it, You know, I do maybe I feel like I'm more tense before those games

and something you sound like you do the same thing that you can. Well, you know, it's like you want him to win because one, I mean you, we've talked about a million times more fun to call all the game that they win and get the right it's all it always is. I was going to save this forum breaking news, but we have to have a talk about this, okay, because on the one hand, and what part picking news, there were some suspensions in the NFL sport for some sports gambling by players, Okay. In the NBA's new Collective Bargaining Agreement, it says that players players may

hold passive, non controlling interests in sports betting or fantasy companies. Those equity stakes are limited to one percent for companies offering NBA related bets or contests, and players can't promote NBA specific betting. So, on one hand, you're getting suspended for gambling. And on the other hand, you got the NBA said, yeah, but go ahead and own a sports gambling company. How does that work? And specifically for fantasy stuff too, Yeah, fantasy and

sports betting companies. Are they included because they're they're actually active participants, you know, trying to do in their stats? Yep. I don't get it. No people, people, yesterday I saw one of my colleagues, national colleagues have said this. How can it be hypocritical? If if you're gonna say it sypocritical? What about this? So beer money? Right? They have beer ads and they have beer established, they sell beer, YadA YadA. So are they promoting duys? I saw that, and they're not right.

Of course there's a law against DUI correct. And I guess you can have rules against gambling, but it just seems for some reason, this seems different because the dy you can kill somebody. You're not gonna kill somebody because they're gambling, but you can screw up the game. But I get it. What I guess what I'm saying is, why would you let your your players be able to own gambling, you know, have investments in gambling companies?

Why would you say that's you can't do that and just say, well, I don't know if you can say anything, but wouldn't you want to reserve that until after you're out of the profession? Exactly exactly. I thought some other stuff in in the in the in the agreement because I hadn't I really hadn't paid much attention to it. But then there was a nice article that kind of summarized a lot of this stuff. Marijuana has been removed,

So which is which is all? I'm sure people that players can invest in and promote companies that produce CBD products, So not only can you can you blaze up, you can sell the stuff. Yeah, yeah, welcome to the new world. Um. They're also letting players own portions of of w NBA teams if they're not owned by another NBA team. Right, that's just different. It's a different investment group. Um, so that's that's a that's a thing. Um. They did establish a minimum or to be eligible for

all NBA teams and MVP I play. You gotta play sixty five games. It's pretty good. Okay, if somebody cares about that, then you can't you know, you can't be missing a bunch of games. Because just because you don't feel like playing, but that still lets you miss what's seventeen games? Right, it's an eighty two, eighty one or eighty two game season for BASTA. Yeah, na, yeah, I'm thinking of seventy two. Now, Um are you some more? Some more? Um? No?

That I was really the big piece. So yesterday I was watching two about the NBA. Uh, what do you think the driving force is for many of the players in the league. And I'm not praising it the same way they did, but the biggest drive for being in the NBA? Why somebody wants to be in the NBA for the freaking money? For the money. Okay, So let's assup for a second. And then you've you've made a lot of money. Uh, you're making a lot of money. Do you

want to win? How what's the importance of winning versus money? Well, losing hurts a lot less if you're making a lot of money, and I accept losing if you're if you're making money, and at the end of the day, you think, okay, true true. So it's uh, and they were talking about that, what's the driving force? Money? Regardless if

they're on a winning or losing team, they really don't. They don't care as much if you're they're losing that well, that's why you you might see a guy who's on a championship team leave the championship team so they don't make more money at a team that's not gonna win. A great point, which leads me to the next one. Okay, pool from Golden State dealt, And everyone's gonna say, and everyone's saying, well, he's gonna score thirty at his next stop. Okay, okay, but he's gonna sucky team,

right, what would you rather have? He's doing that with Washington Wizard's So, so tell me, are you gonna be okay making a ton of money, will be on a sucky team scoring a lot of points everything twenty eight points well, or be with a good team that has a chance to winning title. Well, I hope that if he's gonna make more money there, I hope that the extra money he's gonna make is gonna make up for the fact that he's not gonna win. That's what he's gonna making a ton of

money then score thirty points a game. And you know, if you and I, who never even sniff that kind of money though, you know, I can sit here and say winning matters to me, I would you know, I should think, you know what, I'd rather make twenty million dollars and win than thirty million dollars and not win, correct, because but they get used to having this money. Sure that when if they have twenty and they can go get thirty. Yeah, I'm gonna go get thirty. Sure

right? Whereas you know, And I don't know if I was actually doing that, how I would feel that way. If I would feel that way, but I would feel like, you know, you know, legacy and winning championships and getting rings and being able to walk away and say, you know, I was a champion would would matter to me? I think, yeah, And if I'm making twenty million bucks, that's enough. But but

you but but I don't know. I'm not in that. You started this conversation, so you started the answer with the reason or with the perfect example. I don't know, because I've never made that much money, and I don't I know that I would. I don't know what I would do, although I do love winning a lot. Yeah, so twenty versus thirty and being unhappy and happy, I would probably take the twenty and be great with be great and have fun with winning, and you know, and then it

gets back to the whole AAU attitude. Just playing right, just playing and making the money is good enough. You know, so many kids and that's what you hear is the rap on on AAU. These kids, they don't care as much about winning as we used to care when we straight for our high school teams or whatever team. Because they lose a game, well they got another one in another hour, and another one after that in another hour,

and winning and losing doesn't matter as long as I get mine. And don't forget the purpose of the EU is to be seen right, to be seen to get to the next many games as you possibly can, so you can get to the next level and make the money. And it's like someone lost in there somewhere, is you know, winning the championship. And maybe part of that is, you know, our kids grew up getting participation trophies, which which yeah, which is not good to let me let me throw

this at you and just just a conversation, not about sports. So so would you rather because it's happening now, would you rather um which you know this is a make it clean you notice, would you rather get paid thirty bucks an hour to be a waiter bus guy or a waitress or whatever, or wait a server service great word, or get paid fifteen dollars an hour and tips no tips for thirty dollars. Right, I don't know because I I've never done that. I don't know. Forday, I didn't give me

the thirty man you think though, right, you think that? So now in Colorado, in Denver they have the people who did South Park, who owned South Park renovated this cool restaurant, old Ressian Mexican restaurant, UM forty put forty million dollars into the renovations. Yeah. Yeah, so they have money obviously. So now they said, okay, guys, if you want to work for us, now you got to sign this contract. You're only

gonna you're gonna get paid thirty bucks an hour, but no tips. Got a lot of people pissed because they guess they make a lot of tips. Well, then don't go to work there. And that was the option, and that was the option, thirty bucks. Whether you make good tips or not. You may not make it that day, but you're getting paid thirty bucks an hour if you that's one and it's stable. Yeah, that's one that I said for you. If you don't want to work, don't go

work there, work, go work somewhere else for tips. That's up to you. You don't have to work. And that's some pretty good to be pissed about that bull Yeah, there's a lot of people bullcrap because it's like that's you know, that's not your business, right and if somebody wants to go do that, then let them go do that. So there's that's what they're saying. Well, some days we make well some days you won't. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, am I I'm

you know, I'm a good tipper, but not everybody. Everybody is right, you know, I know, but that's a that's a conscious choice of of what you want. I don't know because you know what, I've never I've never had one of those jobs or you know where you working tips. I mean I get tipped, you know, fifty cents when I go collect for my newspapers rout and you were having you know, it was it was

a tip for the month. Right to give me an extra fifty cents or a dollar maybe, But I don't know, I don't know what i'd want to do there again not having never worked, I never you know, I was never a delivery guy. I was never a server I worked. When I worked at McDonald's, weren't allowed to accept tip because sometimes they'd want to give you a tip. You know, you know, uh, you know you take them there. You know they'd order and they go sit down and

you take them their food. Well, no, they'd want to give you a bucket. I'm like, I can. Well, now now you have restaurants who have the little little key on you pay for something and ask for you exactly turned the thing? Could you answer some questions for ten fifteen such a I'm so out ridd and I go to subway, right, they make my sandwich. I should just be able to get my get my sandwich and going. Then the tip thing come up and I give them a freaking text

right right right. They can't help myself. I get it. I get it. I'm not gonna say you whether I do or whether I don't depends. It depends depends, you know. Um, but I've never not tipped somebody, even if they even if they get a bad job, I've always given them something right right, Yeah, you know I may give somebody twenty five or thirty percent if you know, if they do a rookie job, if they do a horrible job, I'll give them eighteen because I eighteen is

my minimum. But then I got to do maths. Let's huge, but uh, you know, but that's that's kind of my bottom. Like if you just got me my food and you don't spit in it, well you don't know that well I know or I can't tell that you're spinning it. You're gonna get You're gonna get twenty percent from me. But if you do a really good job, you're gonna get twenty five. And your court you're happy, and you're because, let me tell you had a good time.

When you go to even to drive throughs now, it's like, I don't want to be here here, thank you, don't even get me started. And there they treat you like, what are you doing here? I'm here to order food. Don't even get me going, man, don't even get me going. Because I was, I was one of McDonald's best employees ever until until I just I just was. I just was like, these people are coming here to eat, and they're coming here to, you know,

to feel good about eating. You don't want to wreck that right. You know, somebody, somebody's kid would barf in the you know, in the in the dining room, and you'd go clean it up. But I wouldn't give them. I wouldn't give the parents a dirty loof, like, okay, your kid barfed, Okay, let's clean it up. There was a lot of that, okay. I didn't have playpens when you were there, didn't the playgrounds. We had the first playground in Twisons, the first McDonald's

playground in Twisons. It wasn't like the indoor ones. It was an outdoor what with that merry go round that you could die on the slide that would burn your butt. After the jungle gym that if you got to the top and you fell to the bottom after a time, Okay, there we gonna go. All right, let's get out of here. We're gonna take our

break. We're gonna come back. We're gonna have some breaking news and there's said all kinds of stuff, so be sure to come back for that and we'll we'll hopefully entertain you a little more tick around
