This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jagan zalid Sound Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services. It's sure your most Prized Possessions kt z R TWU SA in iHeartRadio Station. Good, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to Eye on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jagan Zauce. We got our guy Ryan in today. I did remember your name, right, so you're a little worried about it. I forgot Henry's name yesterday. Who are you guys? Hey, Welcome to

Thursday. This Thursday, Thursday's hot day. A lot of news going on at U of A. Yeahs draft is on football? Second day of the draft. Basketball. Do you want to talk about basketball? Yeah? What in the world are people thinking? Well, you know, it's weird how this thing happens. And you know, there's Pelly Larson got drafted. We know that, all right, And he's drafted with the forty fourth pick.

It's like, okay, who drafted about somebody else? Oh? But that's why, you know, because that's where I went When you said basketball, what did you have schedule? Oh, we'll talk about that in a second, because I have a rant. That's what I thought. You people are paying attention to the draft right now, So pel larcen draft. You know people fans want to know when the U Good luck because you're going to be waiting a long time. Yeah. Well, Pella Larson gets drafted, drafted

forty four. It was the Houston Rockets draft pick, and apparently they picked him. But now we're there, the question is did he did the pick get traded before or after he got drafted? And he ended up in Miami by way of Atlanta. He'll play with your boy Hoimy Hawkins? Is that? Oh, that's right, that's where Hyman Hawkins is. They had some battles to those two guys. But Pala Larson has been drafted with the forty fourth pick. Uh, we think you got drafted by Houston, then traded

to Atlanta, then traded to Miami. So ultimately he ends up with with with the Marlin. More importantly if you're keeping Marlin, more important if you keeping score. I won the bid over Brent. Let's take this call. We got call already hire on the air and I and the ball. What's cracking, guys? How you guys doing where you are? What? What? What area code are you? First of all, Steve, I know this is like a Melancholi reminder that you get all the time. But condolence

is sincerely, big dog. We'll reach out in pay for you and hugs and your mama up there and she yeah, it is what it is. Man. But this we got money. This this this rule is we got four point seven millions. Some of us have it coming to us. Oh, Jay, subscribe, you subscribe Sunday Ticket right, Sunday Ticket is like, what a four billion dollar judgment? I'm supposed to go to customers? But first of all, point seven it's a point seven that's closer to almost

a five million dollar judgment back to us. Okay, okay, and okay half of it goes to the lawyers. All right. So that's the first thing you need to know. And then you know what somebody somebody said, Okay, do I get how much of the four billion dollars? Do I get? Somebody said two dollars? Two dollars? And then that's something stuffing. But see I'm not gonna get cracked because I was that jerk. And then this is why the PAC twelve is no more because of a jerk's like

me loving our situation where we used to leverage. Well, I can't watch my Wildcats, so take me to the retention department and they take me the retention Oh yeah, I will keep you drink. Give me if you would give me Sunday ticket for free. I can't watch my Arizona Wildcats. And then I lived in that sin and it blew up in my face. But I know a bunch of people who did that. I would. I would

leverage because the pack twop network wasn't available on direct TV. But this is still cool, man, it's it's it's cool, and it's gonna change the game where they can just hoard our teams. I know there's crafty Arizona Cardinal fans. When you guys get both of these Arizona Cardinal games. They used to put Cowboy Games America team on it. I didn't have to buy something tickets, But now I could just subscribe. Hopefully the game has changed and

I could just watch Cowboy games. I don't have to watch everything else and maybe the red Zone that'd be dope. Yeah no, and it's still expensive. You know, even now that it's on YouTube, it's still expensive, although they're doing more things with it on it's a it's a fortune. And you're right. I know a bunch of people who did what you did, Mike, who who purposely called in and said, well, I can't get the packed off network, I'm leaving, and they okay, we'll give it

t for free. Then they got it was in the hole. It was like it was so it would give us a reason to go to the bar, well some of us out and go to the U of a game, you know what I mean. I was fortunate to travel with the team like you guys were, George Khalil, you guys. But but we got we we could leverage that and I would look forward to it every year. That was the eighth in the hole. But whoever gets money, like I know

my my brother in law specifically would buy it. I want to. I want to see what he gets and the returns, what it what it would look like, maybe because he did it Avenue for years. Oh yeah, I got it. I've had it every year since the first year it became available. Yeah. Man, And the red zone just changed the game. So and if they have the option like from some of us could jail break fire sticks but that's here and there. But now the options to just scream

your team, team, your team, and then get red zone. I could live with that, especially being a Cowboy fan. So and for into my misery, they're going to have to do something like that, because this is great. It's fun that this came up because I just got my my notice that they're going to start charging me my you know, four payments, it's four hundred and well, we could have a group thing. I could put it in a value money in the sign and just look at it with

the passports bro. You know, man, we don't on our listeners and college CC we don't. We don't promote. But but again, I miss y'all, you already know sports that are coming and coming fast. Andy Mechnical disappoints again, just like the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Wildcat basketball team. Are you are you still doing your podcast? Yes, yes, we're still doing the Cowboy of podcast. I had a kind of a setback with the fat Boy Sports podcast, but it'll get rolling once football gets going. But

thank you. Remember the Cowboy of podcast on YouTube. You already know that's on Tuesday night. Uh, those five o'clock Mountain Standard Times look it up. So it's all bad news all the time. Oh yeah, yeah. Like I said, it's Redical soccer, it's Arizona basketball. We're just chipper here and we're extremely masochistic on this side of the humid, nasty Gucci son. But I love y'all again. Condolences against You're my dog, you my

uncles. I love y'all later. Nothing like starting off a show that yeah he talked about, the go ahead and tell him what they're talking about with the There was a there was a verdict today in a in a class action lawsuit against against Direct TV regarding Sunday ticket the the award to that's supposed to go to residential customers is a total of four billion dollars. I don't know how they're gonna divvy that up, but I'm gonna go get some of mine

because I've been a customer of theirs since the day they started. I don't know how I can prove that, but and I don't know how much that means, you know, to somebody like me. But then the then they there are several hundred million that are going to that's going out to commercial courses. The commercial customers. The the vert the verdict is about the fact that because they had a monopoly on the telecast that they were able to uh jack up the prices of it. Uh. It's against the NFL and and and

Direct TV. So because you know, the NFL gave it to Direct TV and allowed Direct TV to discharge whatever they wanted, you know, four three, four, five hundred. Now it's almost five hundred dollars. That that was unfair practices. And so so what's it gonna be no, or I don't know, I don't know. I mean, you know, they haven't sent me anything. Are you paying? So that you're paying five hundred bucks pretty much four hundred and eighty nine you get every NFL game and Red Zone.

Uh. And then with with it got moved to YouTube last year. With YouTube, there's some cool things with it now because you can they have they have groupings of games, so you can set up your screen and there are three games or four games all you know, all on one screen, or you can have three games in red zone or whatever. Now you don't get to pick, you know, the groupings. It's like they set they

set up what they think are interesting. So like I'll find a you know, like like say there's four games, I'll find one that said has three games that I'm really interested in, I'll put it on there. Or you can watch one game, but you get every game. You got every game plus Red Zone. Now what you don't get what's blacked out on it is the games that are on your local television station. So when the Cardinals are on, Okay, you don't get the Cardinals if they're on, you know,

if they're on, what do we get? We're on Fox and CBS. So whatever the Fox and CBS games are on here, you can't get on on Sunday ticket. But you got all the games, any game you want. So for somebody like a fantasy player, maybe somebody gambles a little bit and has game that they would in otherwise see here. I know for gamblers that hasn't done many good. You know, I I love it because

I love being able to pick whatever game I want to see. You know, if there's a play, if you know my quarterback is playing, and you know my fantasy quarterback is playing in a game that I couldn't see here on the regular thing. I'm not a big fan of Red Zone. I'm

I can't I can't keep up with it. And I really didn't like how they did red Zone last year, where they would change basically every play they'd go to a new game, whereas the way they did red Zone before is they would get into a game, stay with it for a couple of players or a drive, and then go to the next one. Now they changed every single twice. So America has adhd well. I see, I can't. I can't. I lose my mind with the tickers and all that stuff.

Okay, anyway, so anyways, then we're done talking. Pala Larson got drafted. We're waiting for to see if Keisha Johnson gets drafted. Another Connecticut guy just got drafted. So that's four Connecticut players who've been draftrafted. We just got drafted to Ronni James. James, the Lakers did get him. Okay, my shot still says on the clock. Okay, So okay, so there's only three picks left and has not been picked. So maybe you know, maybe at this point you hope you just try to go to

a place it's the best for him. He'll be able to go to a team that wants him to at least a show, and he'll have a good summer league or try to have a god summer league and see what happens. Still, I bet with Brian, and we talked about this yesterday. I didn't think either of them either when we get drafted. Apparently I had Palty before I had Johnson, and I don't think it's it's gonna be tough to

make a roster for both of them. It's just people don't understand. Okay, you play really well in college, blah blah blah, it's different in the NBA. It's just different. It is. You got it. Look, look, did you watch any of the NBA yesterday the draft? No? Exactly, and neither do I. Nobody really did. And it was unexciting. It was exciting to you exactly. I don't well foreign players, which is not a surprise. I went, I went by it, and

and Stephen A. Smith was ranting, and so I couldn't change. Okay enough, but there was no no love fest for it. Today was no different. It was what two hours ago it started. Now it's almost over. The draft itself was very weak, and so uh, what's to like? My my again, my only interest, my interest always in is in what happens to the Arizona guys. And so that's that's why I I for

that reason, I would sit down and watch it. Right, It's like I got a wait to find out, like I, like I said, I passed by it and and uh and Steven A. Smith was going off on something. So immediately change the channel. I put on the dateline or something. Yeah, listen, I don't want to talk about this now because

we only have two minutes. So I talked about Pele, we talked about Johnson, and we'll talk about Caleb on the other side of the guests, which is to Lenny Snell Delaney Shanell Olympian, two time Olympia now from Tucson High and the uf A. So we'll talk to her about her journey now and it happens. Uh, you know what happens is from now to she goes to Paris. Right, and then at the second hour have Lamont Hunley, who one of our great sponsors, and I wanted to talk to him.

He says, he says to me, this morning, Uh, you must be running out of guest. I said, it's a summer. It's a summer. We need people to talk. And I said, well, we'll talk about the incoming freshman just whatever. Uh, you know, his brother's obviously still in the program, but he can kind of talk about it

without any prejudice. Uh. And then just about uh, there was another thing I want to talk to him about, not so much and I know, but just about uh, the projections and things like that, you know, because he doesn't he's a big fan and he's and he and is it

too much to ask to be really good? Uh, we'll see he's excitement for the for the Big twelve, and then we'll talk about on the other side when we have to is the schedule, the schedule, the Big the Big twelve basketball schedule dropped from the standpoint of who's playing who and such a massive, massive, massive omission and my mind by you're you're not alone. Just it just makes you think, does anybody think about this stuff before they

do this stuff? And so we'll get we'll get to that, and maybe they overcorrect, which makes no sense, you know that they don't want to. I don't know, you'd have to ask. We can, we'll we'll have that discussion because it makes what they did with the schedule makes zero sense to me. And we'll get into that. So let's go ahead and take our break. She's got to hit the road. He's got to run,

Hey, welcome back to Eye on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve riverol He's chickensaws down the phone. We have Delainey Snell, now a two time Olympian. How are you, Delaney? We're doing well. Thanks for joining us. What an exciting time for you? Is it is? Is it exciting as we

think it is? Yes? Yeah, I mean when the Olympics only happened every four years, it's hard not to be excited. So so how the anticipation of this Olympics that okay, you you made it last last time, you know, it was your first time and all that kind of stuff. Was the second time around? More? Was it more nerve wracking or less because you had been through it? You know? Maybe more pressure on yourself too. You know, you need to make it this time because you're you

made it last time. I mean, how how did all that work with you? You know? Mentally? Yeah, I think first time is always stressful just because it's something that's never happened before, and trying to make that

happen for the first time is always course going to be very stressful. But I think with me potentially retiring after this Olympics, you know, this might be my last competition, So I feel like I did have a little more pressure on myself because obviously I wanted to end my diving career at the Olympics. So I still feel like that pressure just hasn't really changed. It's just a little different. Yeah, how old are you? You're like twenty three?

You're like twelve, twenty five, fi man, and so the life, the life of a diver is like twenty six, what is it? It depends on the event. I'm a ten meter diver, so I take a little bit more impact because I'm higher up. So a lot of ten meter divers retire a little earlier. Three meter. Sometimes you'll have some that are in the thirty seven range, but that's that's pushing this so if it

could real quick. We talked about this day a couple of days ago when you when we try to get you on and you said, yes, carry Strugg uh direct Landy Schnell and who else? Right. Well, so, I mean there's a lot of Olympians like gone to the U of A and that kind of stuff. But when you're talking about somebody from Tucson, Uh, you know, we well, you know, when we talk about great Olympians from Tucson, we think of Carrie Strug because of that, you know,

incredible Olympics that she had and the drama of of that. But I think you got to be mentioned in that neighborhood. Uh. You're probably gonna say, uh, you don't really want to talk about that, but tell us. I mean, how do you feel about what you've done and how where you feel you rate in Tucson, Arizona in this area. Yeah, I mean there's a reason I went here for college. I just felt like

it wasn't my time to leave Arizona yet. And I feel like part of me going to Arizona for college was my way of giving back to the community because I always felt like the community, you know, treated me so well as an athlete. And you know, I was close with like Southern Arizona road runners because my family is a family of runners. So I've just been involved in the Tucson community since I was very little. Yeah, so it feels pretty cool to be able to kind of go down in history as one

of the one of the great athletes. You uh, I don't know. You probably you started gymnastics. I think if you if I recall, right, uh, do you pinch yourself? Could you think this little girl from Tucson would have gotten this not just once, but twice? I don't know,

It's hard hard to say. I feel like initially I thought maybe that was an option in gymnastics, and then you know, a lot changed and at that point it was like, okay, well I just need to find another sport to hopefully get a college scholarship, just because financially, that was my way to college. So yeah, so it really was about me trying to find a scholarship in some sport. And you know, the moment I did my first sive, I kind of realized, you know what, I

think I can actually do more in the sport than just college. And sure enough, here we are. You are. So, how did your I don't know, your your your training, your routine and all that change since you were you were out of college this last year, you know, how did you go about it? Where did you know? Where did you do all your work? Where did you train? Just tell us a little bit about this last year, what that was like for you getting ready to try

out for the Olympics. Yeah, it really hasn't changed that much, just because I still train at the university. I still have access to the weight room and the athletic training facility because I am an alum, so I still have access to all of that, and it's still my same coach from college.

So really the only thing that's changed is I haven't had to go travel to duel meets every other week and and do all the competition that came with college diving, and so honestly, it was a little easier because I was able to focus more on those big international competitions, and really I had time to work on the basics works at work on the detail work that during a college season you can't really work on because you need to be performance ready pretty

much the whole year. So how did ten meter become your you know, your event, because I, for one, wouldn't even want to go up there. But you know, this is you know when I think of diving night, you know, I think of that because it's such an incredible event. You know, you're you're so high up and you're you can do so many things. But how did that become your event? M For me,

it just kind of clicked. It's funny though, actually because the first time I jumped off five meter, which is like halfway up to ten meter, I actually landed with my arms out and I like smacked my aunt arms on the water, and I remember being like, no way, I'm going to be a power diver. A ten meter diver like that hurt. I don't

want to do that again. And it's just funny because you know, after I took my first dive on ten meter, I realized, you know what, this event is just clicking for me a lot better than the springboard is. And yeah, I think just from there, I realized I enjoyed competing it more, I enjoyed training it more, and it just it just clicked.

So I'm not sure how you want to react to this question, because we've talked to you at least mister geist, Jay, and I continue to say that over the last couple of years of mister Geist in track and you and in diving were like to the two faces at the University of Arizona that should have been killing it with nil. And I think it was mister Geist that said, uh, it's not about us, because we were in these sports that kind of no one really pays attention to, and the football and

basketball teams get it. Well, what's your thoughts on that, because you too, you two guys were fantastic and probably should have gotten a boatload of money. Yeah, I think that is the tough part of being in a sport like we're in. It's just, you know, unfortunately it just doesn't get the same attention, and like it is, it is hard finding nil

deals. And I think also what affected that is, like the whole Nile stuff happened while while we were in college work after college, so we were just so used to not being able to accept those things, and then all of a sudden, so much changed in a matter of months. And so I think that on top of being in a sport that just doesn't really get the same recognition, is just it made it a little more difficult right, Well, we talk about this, we talk about this, and let me

say this this way. So football players worked the butt off. Basketball players worked the butt off, of course, but you know what, so to gymnasts, so to divers, so to women's basketball players, and there's no I don't know if equity is the right word, but you know where I'm going with it, right Yeah, Yeah, I just think, you know, unfortunately, we're not the sport that has hundreds of sands in the sands like we're We're just not not well known. People don't really understand the sport.

And I think if there was more effort to put diving out there and more ability to put diving out there, then more people would understand it. Because in other countries, I mean, it's a big sport. You go to everybody knows who the divers are. You go to Mexico, Great Britain, divers in those countries, just because there's more effort to make it known, right Yeah. Interesting. Interesting, We're talking to Delaney Schanel, two time Olympian, Tucson High grad Juve grad. So Blaney, tell us a

little bit about what happens from now until you head to Paris. What are you doing, and then what's that going to be like once you get there, You've been through it once, but it's probably still going to be a little different. Yeah, I think the big difference is that there will be

spectators in Paris, so that's kind of the new thing. Family's also going and so there's going to be the distraction of like trying to see my family, but like we've been told that there's just not a lot of time to see them because you're going to be cold left and right for media stuff, you're going to be training, you're going to be competing, and there's like no access to the village for outsiders, so pretty much just athletes, and

so it's very hard for Olympic athletes to aftually get to see a family. And I think that's going to be something that's new for me that I'm going to have to manage with my family and really communicate like, look, there's only so much time I'm going to get with you. And then yeah, just having the spectators there, I think is going to be a massive change. Because Tokyo, of course it was just my dive team that was there and so the stands were empty and I felt like practice, that's I think

what made it so easy to go in there and perform. So what's what's the what's the routine between now and then? So right now, it's just training back to the same routine of you know, one to two practices a day weightlifting, getting in the rehab room and doing some preventative rehab and just yeah, just taking care of my body and getting ready to go. So let me say this, your four years removed from the last time, you

even sound different. You sound more more mature, if you will, So don't you, I mean, do you feel that way too, that you are a KG veteran or however you want to describe it. Yeah, I mean obviously experience comes with that. And you know, I've gone through a graduate program and I feel like even just guessing my education added a little sophistication, I guess, But it's just there's been a lot of roads east.

What what are you? What are you going to do after this? So I'm actually going to be moving to Colorado in December with my fiance, so planning a wedding also, so that's another thing. But no pressure, no pressure, no pressure. So are you gonna what did you get your degree in? And what are you going to try to do with it? Yeah, so I got my degree in the speech language pathology program, so Masters of science, and I'll be hopefully working in a hospital setting, maybe acute

care with adults, most like trauatic brain injury or stroke. If I were you, i'd wear your medal everywhere. I'm too scared to bring it everywhere, no thoughts of coaching or anything like that. You are, You're just going to put it behind you, you know. I feel like it's going to be really hard to put it behind just because it's been my life. I feel like, unfortunately, athletes get so wrapped up in this sport that it's just like it almost becomes your identity. So I don't think I'm going

to be able to let go of it completely. I'm sure I'll try coaching or somehow say involved with the sports. Yeah, well incredible. Well again, you know, you're you have to be mentioned among you know, the greats and Tucson not just not just as an Olympian, but just one of the great athletes, right whether it's a baseball player or a football player or whatever. You know, Tucson. When it comes to that, I'll just say Tucson's not as big as sure some of these other places that spit out

great athletes all the time. So congratulations on all of that. And you have made everybody proud. Yeah, I mean it's an honor to represent Usson. You remember last time she was kind of like a kind of like she was twenty one. She was very young, so I'm still mature. I know, I get to I get told all the time. By the way, by the way, Johnson was not he did not get drafted. Figure go figure. You know, I wonder is he disappointed or probably like the end of the day, he'll be with the team. Yeah, he's like okay. You know, if you get to a point, like with six picks left, you said, okay, nobody drafted, I would say yes,

because now you get the pick and choose or another hand. Steve, you know, you can always say, man, I got drafted in the NBA, and that'll get you what that nickel, get your nickel at the end of the day, I know it's landing. It's like you're if you're the heavyweight champion of the world one time. So what you know, once once once a heavyweight champion, always a heavyweight champion. Once you were you know, if NBA draft pick, always an if he sticks in the NBA in

the end, the idea is to stick. So you're right, I mean, from that standpoint, yes, you might as well just go to a you know, go to somewhere where you can fit. But to be able to put that merit badge on your chest that you got drapped in NBA. You and I live differently. You and I live differently. Look good, play good exactly exactly, jump high, good matter. Okay, let's go, all right, let's take a break. Word to come back. We'd

Hey, welcome back to my I in the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, You're Jay, and we got our guy Ryan with the no breaking news but later Hill of breaking news. How was a

quick interview that was real. If anyone wants to give us a call five two oh four one six forty, we have plenty of time for take some calls. We want to discuss the basketball Yeah, schedule. I thought that would be your biggest rent today. It is. You know, here's the thing. You know, sometimes things make so much sense where it's it's so much common sense that people don't realize that something makes all the sense of the world and they just look past it. Right, Nobody thinks about it.

How an organization like the Big Twelve Conference, which is you know, you got you got to make the money, right, you have to and maybe

while we got our contracts, so we're good. But how with all the hoopla of the Pac twelve teams going into the Big twelve, the interests they're trying to generate in that the way people are talking about what the basketball conference is going to be like with Arizona joining joining up with Kansas and Iowa State and Baylor and Houston and Texas Tech, and so they make a schedule.

It's the first schedule, the first year of the expanded Big Twelve Conference, and nobody over there thought maybe, just maybe Kansas and Arizona should play twice. Because the schedule comes out they play once it's it's in Kansas. Even if that game was here and and they want to, I'd still be pissed off. How do you not How does nobody think maybe these two teams should

play twice? And I brought I don't disagree with you because that's the first thing I looked at when I saw the schedule, and I'm thinking that's unfortunate. And I'm thinking, when talking to you, I'm thinking maybe it was like an overcorrect undercurreer. It was just a weird thing that they didn't want to do that initially, which makes no sense, don't I don't know.

There's no explanation. These schedules are done with the computer, right, they put all they put well, they put all the teams in and and you know, it spits something out. And then what you do is you go around and you kind of, you know, fiddle to it. It make make you can go out there and make adjustments to it. Well, they're maybe they shouldn't play twice. I mean, how nobody looked at this and didn't say, you know what, guys, we need to fix it.

We need to fix Kansas in Arizona. You need to play two times. For all the national attention it would get, for the excitement it would get in both cities and the league as a whole to see these two teams, you know, the only blue blood that you know that the Big twelve has in Kansas and the near blue blood that Arizona is. And they didn't say those two teams need to play. Wait, I said it. I said it. I said it. I said it. Put this poster on the

side. I said it. I know you've said you've agreed with me. I said it, but I don't disagree with you on this issue. On this issue, it's a common it's a very blatant mistake. I think. I'm thinking people, even probably the Big twelve, were thinking, what Kansas fan wants to play Arizona. Sure, okay, here there. They're happy

they get them, but they want to see it. They want to players on a twice, you know what, because they want to kick Arizona's asked bice and say we're better than The good thing is we'll probably see him again both again in the tournament. In the tournament, there's probably that. But here's the deal. These things are usually on a two year rotating bas which means that next year you're not gonna play Kansas twice either. You're gonna play

Kansas once in Tucson. So you might want to say, who's coming, Houston's coming, Baylor's coming. I think, well, here here, I got it. No, I got in front of me. Okay, so so uh uh. Arizona's home opponents are a s U, Baylor, b y U, H Central Florida, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State TCU Texas Tech, Utah. Then they go to a s U, go to Baylor, go to b YU, go to Cincinnati, go to Iowa State, go to Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Virginia.

So the teams that they play twice are A s U, Baylor, b YU, Iowa State, UH, Texas Tech. And that's it, Arizona State, Baylor, b YU, Iowa State, and Texas Tech. Yeah. Five teams that you played twice. And that's great. Look, there's a bunch of good games in there, right Baylor home and Home. That's a great one. You know, that's good. Iowa State, you know that's a good one. I'm just saying that the best one out there, the best matchup of all the matchups of all the teams is Kansas Arizona.

And nobody thought that they should play two times. Okay, well what of these One of those times? I agree with you, Jay, one of these times it happens, Steve, because you're right. I mean, there's no like, there's there's no other side to this right side are and just the day before yes start there. You got to get your tickets. You gotta get your tickets because it's gonna be a fantastic schedule. Well, the fantastic can be removed from that because it's not fantastic. It's gonna be

pretty good. And look in Narzona's already got a great home schedule. Duke is coming to town, right, So that's not the complaint. The complaint is that, Yeah, the common sense thing to do here would have been to have these two teams play to the twice the first time they're in the league together. That's all I'm saying. You know, if you want to say, if you want to say, Okay, you're only gonna play Baylor once, but you're gonna play Kansas twy, nobody would complain about that,

you know. I mean, there isn't a there isn't another side to this argument. I'd love to hear what somebody tell me what happened? Why did this happen? Right? In fact, maybe we try to get to a beat writer from the Kansas area, think what are they thinking? Yeah, and then you got crappy Arizona fans up at the Arizona fans saying, oh they did that because Bill self doesn' want to players. Shut the hell up. Bill self is not afraid of anybody. Don't tell me, don't tell

me you saw that. Yes, you're aware. Wow, No, that's totally no. No, no saying that saying that, we know there's fans, not the people I don't know didn't say that. They said, I know there's people out there saying that, speculating. I'm no, Steve, come on, no doubt there's theirs. There's Arizona fans out there saying, you know how I feel about that. You're right, but I haven't heard

it yet. In fact, I did see it once. They did see it as a reply when the first the first tweet that came out, John rothste I think was one who tweeted that said this is who you're playing. Somewhere in that threat, somebody said, Bill Soelf's afraid to play Arizona. Come on, shut up. Yeah, now we've given one more opportunity of Arizona fans. It looked like dumb asses. Well that's not on you, it's on them, I know, Steve. But we're connected to that.

At least I am right. You are, you know, And I just watch you know, I watched. I told you Jay, they're gonna come out from the woodwork, but they're not afraid. Yeah, that's the one thing. It's gonna be a fun season. But without Kansas here, it's not gonna be as fun. Yeah. You know, look, playing baby b y you two times makes all the sense of the world, all right, is you twice twice? You have to you have to play your arrival, you know, two times. Houston's coming. Houston comes here. Yeah,

but Arizona doesn't go there. Arizona does have to go to West Virginia, but they don't come here. And that's it's fine. All the rest of it is fine. But just guys. Yeah, you know, Texas Tech is home and home. I mean that's great, you know, and like I said, there's some great games. I mean, look at the home the home conference schedule includes a s U, Baylor, b YU, Houston, Iowa State, and Texas Tech and Utah m hmm. Of all fun games. You know how many times did we go to the arena?

God, it's Washington State tonight at nine o'clock, you know, right there isn't There isn't a game here that I'm gonna say. Man, I really don't feel like going tonight. There isn't. Yeah, your TCU. Last time I was wont to play TCU. So it was a war. So Richard, why don't you just give me a call, give me give us a call. We got eight minutes. We have time if you're near a phone. Richard just sent, uh sent a note. I think he called yesterday, right, yes, yeah, college, because this is a good,

good note you sent me. So you know, all these games are really good games. There's not a there's not a cal or an Oregon state in there anyway where right, this is gonna be fun. The good thing is, I don't I don't want to prematurely say this, but I don't think there's gonna be nine o'clock games anymore. I sure hope not. You know, well it could be if it's like if you're playing like a su or bling somebody in the same in the same time zone. You know,

you could you could see that. So I don't know if Richard's gonna call you know, five o'clock games. Yes, well that's so we have to run from here. Yeah. Uh so Arizona is an outsider team coming in and prepare for bias and bad calls. I agree with that one hundred percent. Agree with that. Let's take this call. Hi, you're on the air. And I and the ball. Hey are you guys talking about the Kansas scheduling thing? Yes? And your and your email that you sent me.

Yes, Yes, that is bogus. Uh. I believe that's because they're kind of treating Arizona as an outsider. Uh. It's a little bit of punish but for coming into the league and we're not gonna call just roll out the red carpet for you guys and come right down there with Tucson to get beat. So, look, you guys are gonna have to earn your chops. There's gonna be a little bit of that. You're an outsider mentality, you're enter little pers who have come into a new territory, and so

we're going to have to work you over a little bit. What do you think it sounds kind of interesting? Well, I agree that like things like in you know, media polls, you know picking you know, picking the you know, the conference and stuff like that, I think there will be a lot of that from the media. I'm not sure why the conference would do that when their objective is to get eyes on the product. Right, I agree, And what I thought it was a bad decision Jay, Right?

And what what what other game what other matchup in the Big Twelve with the new teams in it is going to get more eyeballs on it than Kansas and Arizona. I agree, I agree, you know, so, uh, this is what's going to happen. I think this still happen to other teams who move to other conferences. They're going to get some bad calls against them, I think to be some bias until they sort of establish themselves in the conference. Well, so they're there, they're going to have a tough

time getting calls here too, though they always have. So that's that's a trade off. I'm okay with that. That's it's always been like that, you know, whether you're in the conference or not. Make sure in Oklahoma we were fair on the call. Okay, what we believe in equity as long as we won the game. Sounds god. You know, we're the only team that had a five foot tall hump in the middle of the field. We're going offense was always running down hill. Thank you, Richard,

Richard, I appreciated. He's got some points there. Yeah, but again, Steve, if if in fact the Big Twelve is doing that, then they're just stupid and I can't believe that they're really that. Well, well, no, so you talked about that above them being stupid, but you figured you were done with it after you left the PAC twelve. You did right. Like I said, this is something that you can see the PAC twelve doing. Just some nobody with the you know, the brain matter to

say don't do this, you know, don't do that. Ah God, I am okay, I'll be fine. I'm just I guess what bugs me most, Steve, is that nobody saw this, Yeah, or somebody didn't see that. Somebody didn't see it and do something about it. Well, I didn't see this coming, that's for sure, because I thought, for sure, if you got too money, go buy tickets down because there's gonna be a lot of Houston's coming. Yeah, it worries me. It worries me that this conference might be run as bad as the pack as the PAC

twelve. Well, on stuff like this, you're not going to get it every way you want it. But I'm not saying that this is a This is a no brainer. They dropped a total no brain. And it bothers me that coming right out of the box, they spit this out as a complete no brainer and screwed up like that. I think that would be one of the biggest questions asked during conference during the media day. Absolutely, you know somebody's going to ask that question. D Kansas Arizona. What the hell

were you guys doing? That's how they need to ask it, just like that, Yo, dude, what God? What the f Why Kansas in Arizona? Only plane once? That's how needs to be asked. Brian Peterson would do that. No, bruce Wood, Brucewood, Brucewood, Brian, he said, you know, well he is, he'd know, he'd him and him. No, we need to have an F bomb in it. No, Yeah, Brian wouldn't do that. I don't know who wouldn't Snobody, we know, there's never that we would know. You know, the

guy would do well, he's in the uk LA now. I don't know who would in our group, no where too nice. Yeah, they wouldn't do it there too. Nice Bruce would kind of got to kind of feel like they wanted to do it, but you wouldn't do it. You gotta

you got there's gotta be a code word for them. I would do the problem by myself if I were by myself asking the question and not on the podium right on the because it's I'm not JJ Reddick, I haven't realized, but not in at at the podium, it just god, what what the heck? Were you thinking? What the hell? Guys, this is not rocket science? No, no, no no, And you think, hey, how can we maximize this schedule? How can we maximize this season?

Home at home right away, immediately immediately? How do you draw attention to the conference? You draw attention to the conference by having these two teams play each other, and they maybe just be trying to say, well, you know what, guys, we know you're really good, but you know, we got some pretty good teams already in the league. To be fair, you know, Iowa State's really good, Baylor's really good. You're just one of the guys, so we're not going to treat you special, if you

know. But nonetheless, it's a first year. You only get this shot one time, right, first impression, first, you know what time? And now it's like they let they let it go by, and they just again I think they I think they put it into a computer and spit this out and somebody said get it up there, and that's what they did. Okay, that's cool. Oh so you are you done? You've done your heart pressure? Deep breath, yeah, heart pressure. Okay. We got

a lot of bricking news, I mean crazy bricking news. We took a couple of things from you. That's right, you'll be fine. There's a lot of some point at you, babe that we haven't talked about the draft to steal available to you. And uh with the people getting drunk. He has already switched over to the Braves gear. Yeah, you did the matter. Baseball stuff has been tossed aside. I got the blue shirt. Yeah, but it's not. It's just a blue T shirt. It's not.

It doesn't say Mavericks Braves doing. Okay. Lost the White Sox today. One nothing. They lost to the White Sock that the Dodgers. The Dodgers get pissed them off. The Dodgers pissed off the White Sox. Dodgers to the White Sox three three games in a row. My dude, my dude, my picture threw a shut out your rookie deleet game. Shut out the rookie the first ones. It's like twelve, it's been some ridiculous number. The first complete game, shut up a Dodger pitcher in like years. I'm

sorry, he couldn't stop talking about the Dodgers. Gavin Stone, Okay, let's get out of his Dodger talk. All right, let's get that guy to here. We're gonna come back. We've got breaking Is at the top, and then Laman Huntley. We're gonna talk some football because I'm sick of talking Big twelve basketball already. So we'll be right back. Stick around,
