This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services and Sure Your Most Prized Possessions kat z R two SAD at iHeartRadio Station. Good afternoon, Welcome down the Ball. I'm your host, Jagan Zalez. My partner Steve Rivera is still out. We'll be out for the rest of the week. I've got Ryan here to handle the board duties and join in on the conversation. I hope we'll have
some good ones today. Ryan, We're a lot again as every day, there's some news, and we've got some more news breaking today, So I don't know how much of it will say for your breaking news, but things going on. Got an interesting show because I you know, yesterday when we had Judy McDermott on talking about the youth golf programs they have and that they're
doing and ways for kids to spend their summer. I thought of my friend Ryan Dunn, who runs a business called TGA Premier Sports that offers how wouldn't call them camps, just you know programs you use sports programs throughout the summer. They also do stuff after school programs and whatt It's like that, let's get one more person in here to talk about the things that are available for
your kids out there or your grandkids, whoever is listening. So Ryan Dunn is going to join us at about three twenty to discuss his program and the sports that you can get your kids involved in with the with the things that they do. It's a it's a really great program and a great business that Tucson has here. And then at four twenty we're gonna bring in Greg Hanson. I had wanted to bring him in to get some some of his historical
perspective on Willie Mays. We'll see what he's got to say about that. You know, Greg a great historian, always has a lot of interesting factoys about just about anything, and I wanted to get his thoughts on, you know, one of the all time great players who passed away this week. In line with that, this game at Rickwood, right, is that that the name of it? Yes? And the Rickwood Stadium in Alabama where the Negro leagues played a lot of their stuff. There's a major League baseball game
there tonight. Who's playing I never paid attention to that. It's going to be the Giants and the Cardinals. The Giants and the Cardinals, okay, you know two of the old old time teams. Giants go all the way going all the way back to when they were the New York Giants, and certainly the Cardinals have been around for a thousand years, so a lot of history there. So that game is going to be going on tonight. I'm assuming it's on ESPN, It's on Fox, It's on Fox and four fifteen.
Okay, so they've they've done a lot of refurbishing of that stadium. Obviously, they've got to make the grounds major league level. They don't want anybody going out there and getting hurt. So that game is going to be tonight. I guess the big news of the day Ryan JJ Reddick. Yeah, coach. Lakers have their coach who is as he's six months older than their oldest player. He's about six months older than Lebron James. But those two guys are pals. So we'll see how how Lebron uh works with JJ
Reddick. They do a podcast together and stuff, so they're you know, certainly I'm guessing that you know, Lebron had a little bit of a say in that Lebron will be forty years old in December, you know, getting up there, and then there's a whole question about what happens to to Bronnie James. But JJ Reddick made the made the coach of the Lakers today. What do you think? So? Growing up, I used to watch Duke Duke basketball and JJ Redick was one of my He was he was one of
the guys I enjoyed watching. He was such a good player, right, good leader on that team, right, And then of course he went to the NBA and I didn't really follow him after that, but he's he's always been a good player of mine. And I think just watching a video before the show, they're saying, you know, he has a really good IQ
for the game. I didn't really catch a lot of his games as being an analyst on ESPN, right, I don't know if you ever got a chance, not really, so I don't know if you he did a good job at that. But but yeah, I think he's got a good basketball mind. And you know, it'll means to be seen if he'll be uh, if he'll be able to take the Lakers back to you know the finals are yeah, well, you know the the the Athletic had a piece on
him. Uh really, I don't know some they had somebody very inside on this, because they just talked about some stuff about how JJ Redick was very impressive in the h in his interviews, that that he he with his knowledge of of you know, schemes and how he's gonna run you know, how he's gonna run his team in terms of you know, offense defense. Uh, how they how he would use Anthony Davis. Now clearly, you know, you'd like to think he went and did uh, you know, a
whole lot of homework to get ready for his interview. But it just, uh, it just basically went deep into why the why the Lakers hired JJ Reddick, and they just said he was, you know, he is very impressive. This is what it said. It says in a piece of the article. This was written by by Sham Sharania, Sam Ammick Amic and Jovon
Boja. There's a paragraph from from the article. It says multiple sources with direct knowledge of the meeting described Reddick as quote impressive during and quote during his visit to Los Angeles, diving deep into his offensive and defensive philosophies and displaying his passion for the sport that foreshadowed willingness to submit himself to the countless working
hours for the modern head coach. So it just talks about how how he would go about making decisions, his intent to, you know, increase Anthony Davis's involvement in everything that they do. He's the best player. I mean, you can say it's Lebron, but Lebron's going to be forty next season, so you know, he's he's on the down side of it. So taking advantage of what they have in the younger and the younger guy in Anthony Davis, and then you know how he will how important it's going to be
to develop the young players that they have. Uh, you know Austin uh Ruy Hachimura. Austin reeves those guys. So you know, look, guys have gone from the broadcast booth to you know, head coaching all the time right more. You know, Arizonans know that you know Bob Brindley, you know he was a booth guy. You know, he took he took the Diamondbacks to a World Series and then shortly after that got fired and went back to the booth and uh, you know what's his name? The asc football
coach. Edwards, Oh, his first name her Edwards. He had been now he had been a head coach, went to the booth, was it was there for a lot of years. Came back to a s U. He did a decent job early, it kind of floundered. Then they broke a bunch of rules and he got fired. But you know, guys have done at So we'll see, you know, Uh, you know what people do say about JJ Reddick, as you said, he's got a good basketball IQ. So we'll see what happens. I don't know, I know,
you know. I mean, it's a hard enough job, right The Lakers are a hard job. You know, it's it's a hard job to Uh, it's the job itself. It's tough. It's the Lakers. The expectations are always high. The organization by you know a lot of people that just hasn't been well run in recent years under Jenie Buss, you know. And any NBA coach is a tough coaching position is a tough job. But the Lakers because of what fans expect, what the media expects, you know,
what the players expect. Uh, it's gonna be interesting to see how how he manages that they've had a bunch of coaches in recent years. And here's another one. We'll see what happens. They just they fired all their coachesn't they. Yeah, he'll get his whole you know, whether he keeps any of the of the guys. But see that's the thing. Okay, so he's been, he's been in broadcast. What coaching connections? Does he have
to bring in a staff to do what he needs to do? You know, because being a coach goes beyond drawing up ex's and o's on the board. You got to have a coaching staff. You got to have a staff that you can work with. You got to have a staff that can execute what you want them to execute, what kind of players you want to coach. There's a lot of stuff behind that. And that's the part to me that you go, okay, JJ reddick, good guy. It was choking on my eg's good guy, smart guy, right. But there's a lot
of pieces to a job like that. You know, you're running a pretty good sized organization. I get it, there's only fifteen players, but you know it's not like a football team. But you've got coaches and analysts and all kinds of there's a system to running a team. How much he knows about that is what is what will be interesting to find out. Yeah, it's a it's a four year contract, so I mean I think it's going to take at least a couple of years for really you know you and it'll
be interesting to see. Right, Okay, what did the expectations? How much time are you going to give him to learn the ropes? Right? I mean you have to think about that, and you got to give him some leeway if they suck next year, you can't fire him right away unless unless what you see you feel like there's no hope for it, and there's situations like that. That's obviously what happened with many Williams up up at Detroit. Right. But if they if he's as smart as they say he is,
it's not going to be like he doesn't have a clue. So now it's going to be Okay, how long before he has to start winning to a point where he gets you into the playoffs and those kinds of things. That's that's going to be the interesting part of this, uh, this whole experience with him. Yeah, but he's getting paid I think it's eight million a year, which is about three million dollars less than what they had offered Dan Hurley. You know, does JJ have an ego about that? Uh?
You know, he's certainly I mean, being that he's never coached before, he can't expect to be getting what Dan Hurley was going to get. So you know, maybe that's three million dollars you can put into a player or something like that. So we'll see how that, how that works for him. Good luck, you know, good luck. I know, I know a lot of Arizona fans don't really root for him here because he was
one. He was a duke too. He was a duke at a time where he was giving a lot more attention and a lot more credit as being called, you know, great shooter in college basketball when probably a much better shooter was right here in Tucson with Celine Stodommeier. So I'm guessing that there's some Arizona fans who immediately don't become at Lakers fans, right, People don't forget her on here and stuff like that. So I don't know, you know, well, well it's one of those things. Okay, let's wait
and see what happens. I mean, the basketball season will be. It'll be back here before you know it. So yeah, exactly we will. We will find out soon enough. So anyway, so there's some news coming out of Arizona. We'll talk about this when in breaking news. But they're they're going to be due handling their multimedia rights a little differently obviously. Uh uh. Desiree read francois coming in with a with an idea of how she wants to do things. So we'll talk a little bit about that. We're
talking about offering. I'm not even sure one hundred percent exactly what it means. We'll have to have somebody come in and explain to us. Then there's a continuing discussion. It looks like this thing with you know, expanding the n CUAA tournament is going to happen and it's just really dumb. Well, yes, yesterday you and Henri, yeah, you guys talked about it being uh eight or they're going with sixty eight now, so they're going to either
seventy two or seventy six. I'm like, why, you know, somebody made a good point today. You know, the pac clove is done right, it's gone. So there's three, four or five spots that are open now because they're not going to this conference. You know, now those teams are playing elsewhere. But those teams that get absorbed into the other leagues, you're not gonna take, you know, a seventh place team this year if you weren't taking a sixth place team last year. So I don't know,
I just don't. I just don't get how you keep messing with stuff that's already really good. And that's going to be a continuing discussion this summer until that's also just that's not just then the women's right, and then they're yet right, they're gonna do it to the women's Well, they do both, so you know it's going to be again, you know, just let's just get more teams in there, let's get more participation trophies, right and then.
And I hate that. I hate especially for this because it's there's there's people who will say it's perfect, right now, it's perfect, don't mess it up, And all they're gonna do is mess it up. That's all that's all they're doing. All right, let's go and take our break. We're gonna come back. We're gonna have ryan done. From the TGA Sports Premier Sports in Tucson. It's a youth program where you can sign up your kids, your grandkids to go out and you know, play various sports.
They teach things, they have a lot of things. We'll have Ryan talk to us again about what it does, what's available, and of course the cost to this. But it's really nice thing. Again. You know, I'm one of those proponents of let kids play sports. Let them play all the sports. If it's tennis, golf, whatever, let them play at all and you know, be three sport athletes. That's how I feel. All right, we'll be right back with Ryan done, coming right up.

Welcome back on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm your host, jagon Zales. My partner Steve is still out. He'll be back next week. Got Ryan here running the board and joining the conversation. And on the phone, we've got Ryan Dunn from TGA Sports, Premiere Sports of Tucson. It's a kid it's a youth sports program running through the summer. They
do after school programs and all kinds of cool stuff. I wanted to bring Ryan on after we had Judy McDermott on yesterday talking about the first tea in the summer programs there. So, Ryan, thanks for being here. How is it going. It's great. How are you doing. We're we're just trying to stay cool here the warm summer days and and and and you're out there with a layer of dust today, so it was like all smoky and
dusty all day today. Yeah, exactly. And we got a couple couple of drizzles this afternoon too, so there you've got an interesting weather day. So right, just give us a little summary of of you know, what your business is and and what's out there, and then we'll get into some of the specifics of it, because I don't know, you know, I know you guys are doing well, but there's probably still a lot of people
out there who don't know that this is here in Tucson. And you can put your kids into some of these into some of these activities, yeah for sure. Yeah. So we're really just a youth sports organization that provides camps, clinics, and after school programs sports programs for kids. So, you know, a lot of our businesses after school programs. We actually go to the elementary schools and middle schools and provide programs there after school, so you
know, parents don't have to take their kids somewhere else. They can leave their kids at school in the after school programs, and we come in there and and do a lot of sport at a bunch of different schools in the area. But right now we're real big into summer camp season. So we've got summer camps going on all throughout the summer, multiple camps per week, get multiple different locations, all right, and the sports that you have going right now that that kids can be a part of, Yeah, just a
variety. I mean, each week is kind of something different. I mean, we've got some golf and tennis combined camps, which are really popular. We've got flag football camps going on. We've got we've introduced pickleball this year, which has really taken off. We've got some We've got a pickleball camp coming up next week in Oro Valley. But we've got we just finished a cheerleading camp last week. So we've got kind of a variety of things for
different kids. Wait a minute, pickleball isn't that an old people's sport? I mean, what are you doing teaching kids pickleball these days. You know, it's funny because a lot of these kids, their parents are playing it, right, so you know, now the kids see it and they're kind of into it. And what I have seen is it's a lot easier to teach and a lot easier to play than tennis. So tennis is a really popular sport for us, but the kids, you know, especially in that
younger range, it's easier for them to play than tennis. So you know, they can learn the skills for a couple of days and then they can actually volley back and forth fairly easy with pickleball. So I'm looking through your website. You're all over the place out in Vail. You're up in Royal Valley, Marana, Catalena Foothills, or where some of these places that kids
can go and be part of these programs. Yeah, So we worked through kind of the local parks and rec sites at Oro Valley and Marana, and then we kind of have done our own thing in the Rita Ranch Vail area. So we're going to be in a lot of those Vale schools this upcoming school year, which we haven't been a part of the last few years. So we're really excited about that, and we're hoping to grow those those camps for anytimes kids are out of school, spring break, fall break, winter
break, and of course summer break. So we'll add a lot of that
stuff. In the Roota Ranch Vail area and then Catalina Foothills, we do a lot of camps through their community schools programs, so a lot of that stuff is opened to the public, but a lot of their obviously they're after school programs, are just open to the kids that are in that school district, right and so and now, And also I think we've talked about this, sometimes there's opportunities for for you know, students, college students even right
even high school students to come out and be coaches and mentors and instructors and stuff like that. Yes, absolutely, we always have a need for really good coaches and people that want to be around kids and want to have fun. So we have a variety of different types of coaches. We've got some
retired folks, we've got some college a lot of college students. High school students for us is a little bit difficult because just because the elementary schools do get get out earlier than the high school typically, so those for after school programs, the high school students that are kind of tough to get because they're still in school for the most part. So but yeah, we are always looking for really good fun coaches that love to get out run around with the
kids. So, okay, so here's here's a question. So the camp, let's say it's a golf camp. How much of in the camp, how much of what you're doing with the kids is actual instruction? You know, how to hit a golf ball, how to you know, how do you know? How to putt? How to chip? You know that kind of thing versus just some going out and playing and having a good time.
Yeah, it's basically all instruction. There are some fun games that we obviously do to keep things interesting, but it's a lot of you know, a lot of instruction to kids that maybe have never don't know anything about golf, maybe have never played before, maybe have never held a club before. So it's learning the basics, it's learning etiquette, it's learning the rules. We have rule sessions typically part of every day, we go through stations, you
know, chipping, putting, in full swing. So a lot of that stuff is uh, you know a lot of our camps are really instruction based, got it? Okay? All right? And who puts this curriculum together with the programs together what you're going to do every day? How does that work? I mean that sounds like a lot of work if you're doing as many camps as that as you see on your website. Yeah. Absolutely,
Yeah. We we kind of spend spend the off season kind of putting those together, and uh, we kind of have a formula of what we want to do for each each one of our camps, so we kind of have it laid out for our coaches. So you know, typically we make it
very easy for our coaches. You know, they can they can obviously do some of their own own thing, but we have it laid out for them so that they can kind of look at the curriculum for the day, for the week, and we have it kind of broken down by by the men of kind of what should be done. Wow. Okay, So basically, if I want my kid to learn tennis, I can send it to one of these camps and they're going to come out of there and they're going to
be ready for the tour or what. Yeah, I mean a lot of the other the other thing with tennis is we have lots of clinics that we do. We have a really good tennis instructor that has worked for us for
the last couple of years. We've got a clinic that happens basically every Saturday in Marana at Continental Ranch Park, and so we've gotten a lot of those kids that have been with us for a couple of years that are that have gotten really good and they've We've added some programs, so we've got a Wednesday We've got a Wednesday night clinic for the people that can't, you know, have commitments on the weekend. So we have a Wednesday night clinic from six
to seven thirty every Wednesday in Marana as well. And then Catalina Foothills we'll have one starting in July at Catalina Foothills High School at the tennis courts there. So there's lots of lots of good tennis that we offer, and uh, you know, the after school programs are great getting kids kind of introduced
to how it works. But then you know the next step would be attending one of those clinics and you know, kind of coming through there every year, you know, and kind of build on those skills now are there for the summer for the summer camps? What are going on right now? Are there certain periods to sign up or can you join in the middle of a camp? How does that work? You can join in the middle of the camp. You know, our our registration is typically always open, so yeah,
we're we're open. But obviously our our camps in the summer or Monday through Friday, typically they're from eight am to eleven am to get out of the really hot weather. But typically, you know, a new camp starts every Monday, and so yeah, you can sign up right before the camp starts day before and you know, even if you realize, hey, I'm gone on Monday, but you want to attend Tuesday through Friday, then you
can absolutely do that. Got it? Okay, we're talking to Ryan Donn, owner of t TGA Premier Sports, a youth youth sports program where you can take your kids to learn all kinds of things. Do you get do you get a lot of kids who do multiple camps and you know, in different sports their parents just like that, you know, them being you know, in this stuff, or do you see kids kind of sticking with a
sport? Yeah, a little both I mean, I have a kid right now that I right off the top of my head that I know out in oural Valley that's been to every one of our camps in Ooral Valley so far this summer and scheduled to be basically all the ones in the future as well. So yeah, we get some kids that kind of go through multiple camps with us, and yeah, and then we get the other kids that you know, are really just interested in one sport. So yeah, we get
a little bit of a variety there. Okay, So who's the golf coach? Because I know you're a really good golfer, you've been in high school golf coat. Are you the golf coach or do you have some that does that for you? We have we have multiple golf coaches, so h I like to get in there and help out with some golf from time to time. But yeah, we've got we've got multiple golf coaches that that are really good and uh are really strong golfers and teachers as well. Got it.
You can go ahead and tell everybody that you shot as sixty nine over the weekend, your first sub seventy round, even though I would have given you credit for a whole lot more. But where'd you got? Where'd you guys play? We played Cricket Tree, Crooked Tree, So sixty nine at Crooked Tree. So that that right there cements it. You know, if anything in the sixties, it's not on a miniature golf course. You you did
pretty good. Yeah, it was a it was a fun day. Uh. And it was just kind of one of those days where I had it had it all going, So it was uh, it was it was fun to do that. Yeah, very cool. Now you run this with your with your wife, right with Alicia? Absolutely, Ryan's married to alisiha halliwell we all know, well she does she go by Alisia Hallowell done Alicia? Where what is it? She typically just goes by Alicia Dunn. But you know a lot of people know where right the great you have a you have
a softball pitcher. Tell me a little bit about how how this business developed? Right? Uh? I know you you you took it over from somebody. But the business itself, the business model itself, how did that come
about? Do you know? Yeah? So it really it started out as really just a golf and tennis company, and you know they were looking for and this has been you know, more than a decade now, but they were looking for something that wasn't so readily available in the community sports wise, So they didn't want to do anything basketball or soccer stuff like that that's so readily available. So golf and tennis was kind of the obvious where there weren't
as many programs available, especially in the after school settings. So that's really where it started, and then it kind of just expanded from there after golf and tennis and and really you know, pickleball is a is a new one that we just started last year, and that's one that really fits in nicely. But some of the other sports we do volleyball and cheerleading and flag football as well as some other sports that are that are pretty popular as well.
Well. You mentioned flag football, right, I mean, that's that's really picking up. You've got a you know, a girls flag football in high school now, Uh? Is that? Do you see that picking up in terms of what you guys are doing. Yeah, As far as our numbers for summer camps, I would say flag football is probably our most popular summer camp along with I mentioned earlier, are we have a golf and tennis combined camp that does really well, but yeah, flag football is definitely right up
there as far as our most popular. Okay, so let's talk a little bit about what this costs. How how uh you know, how can you know people with kids who they want to put in these programs? How do they how do they access that? And? Uh, you know what does a our different sports? Do different sports cost different amounts? Or is everything the same? Typically everything's around the same same price, you know. Right now, our summer camps are one eighty nine for a full week, full
week summer camp. But we do have some other things, like I mentioned earlier, like our clinics. Uh, those happened once a week for for a month, and those are typically uh they started around eighty dollars. So that's a really really good way to kind of get into a sport and kind of get into tennis and kind of learn it and see if you like it for a month and then keep going from there, kind of building from there.
So that's a nice thing. But you can find all of our pricing information all of our locations at PLAYTGA dot com slash two soon all right, and then school's going to start to well, school kind of descended for some but you know we will get going in August some early August, right, which is which is crazy. their newsletters. We send flyers home with the kids, We show up to their back to school nights, Uh, set up a set up a table, and a lot of the schools that we're going to be at, so we try to get that out there as much as possible to kind of promote our programs. But yeah, it's really it's Uh, the schools do a

It's Steve Rivera and Jagen Summons. This is I Am a book on Fox
Sports fourteenth Welcome back on Balling Hand Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Jacob Zaliz, your host Steve is still out and we'll be for at least one more day. I've got Ryan here to help us out and be part of this conversation. Lots of stuff to talk about, as always, I was just looking at something that came across that maybe came across a couple of days ago,
but I'm seeing it for the first time. But on three Sports is going through a thing where they're listing the top five Heisman Trophy andndidates for each conference. So they did they did their Big twelve one. I think this may may have been a couple of days ago, but they list their number one candidate from the Big Big Twelve for the Heisman Trophy as none other than Noah Fafieda, one of the few that isn't buying the uh. The the
are totally buying the the all the uh. What's what's the right word for this? Just not not just putting Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders on top of everybody else just because Deion Sanders is their coach, right, they do have Travis Hunter as the number number two UH from from the Big twelve, Jalen Daniels, the quarterback of Kansas number three, Avery Johnson, the quarterback of Kansas State, is number four, and Olie Gordon, running back from Oklahoma
State, is number five. So they even have Shador Sanders in there. They've got him as a as a as a wild card, but they say that he's got a better shot at being the first quarterback off the board in the NFL Draft next year, but not a good shot of winning the Heisman
because Colorado just isn't gonna be good enough for them to win it. They basically said, if Arizona can go win the Big Twelve, which okay, you know that it would, it would put for Feta firmly in the running for the Heisman if he's the one that direct set So, you know, more stuff that makes me nervous, Ryan, more stuff that just makes me nervous, worrying about whether Arizona can step up to the expectations. I think I think they're gonna be okay, honestly, you do. I think.
So it really is a wide open conference. It is. And that's great to see that that his top right for the year. That's really that's awesome, right. I hope, I really hope Arizona can go out there and they can. That would be it would be incredible in their first year.
Is big twelve to win the win the car. Right, there's a lot of preseason hyped to him more than pro I almost discount the clil Tate stuff, but you know, Cliltate, you know, got mentioned as a Heisman candidate and all that stuff, and then we all saw how that ended. But you know, this team, it's because this team can be really good,
and it was really good last year. You know, with Cliltate, it was really all about that four gain stretch that he had in the middle of the of the twenty seventeen season, whereas you know, we didn't know how good that Arizona football team was going to be. This team, there's a lot of expectation that's going to be really damn good and that's why he's getting this kind of attention. And you know, and then you got a guy like like Tatora McMillan that also bringing a lot of attention to the program
or to the team for this coming year. So I don't know, man, I'm again, I'm I'm getting I know, I'm going to get more nervous as we go along. I'll probably be nervous until after we see what they do. It's Kansas State, uh and you see, Okay, how good are they really? In the third game of the year. You brought up mc millan. Is there any update on him on his injury? No, we we talked to both asked that of Troy Hutchison and Justin Spears,
and there really isn't one. Just what what Brent Brandon is publicly saying that he's going to be okay, he's going to be ready to go. You know, we don't see these guys anymore right now. You know, they they're they're working out, you know, they're not out on the field anywhere. Spring practice is over, so I don't know that anybody's even spotted him recently to see if he's still in a walking boot or if he's walking around or whatever. So I don't know. I don't know. Starts next month,
right the training tip. Yeah, it'll start in Yeah, it'll start in Uh. I think late July, now, Pat, I'm going to do this all season long. Big twelve Media Day is uh. I think the week in July. It's up in Vegas. Got a time, figure
out a way to go. I don't know though, but but uh, you know, once once media days began, then you start seeing things right, and you think that Big twelve Media Day, they're gonna want to take you know, either Fafida or McMillan and probably Jacob man who or somebody like that, you know, somebody from the defense, uh to Cardio Davis or one of those guys always you know, take one of the top players in
the upcoming season. So we'll see, you know, we're gonna we're gonna find out when everybody else finds out about what's going on with Tata Roy McMillan. You know, if it's one of those things where he's gonna come back in the middle of the year or whatever. Now you got issues, right, But uh, you know, until until he's not ready, we're gonna assume the best. And I believe Brent Brennan when he says he'll be ready. So we'll see what happens. I don't know. I don't know,
all right. Uh, you know, baseball going on a lot of a lot of of Theankees and the Orioles are playing today, and I think there are kicking the crap out of them right now. Last I heard it was it was it was a lot to not very many. The Dodgers took just took a the third out of four games with the Rockies. Do you see a score in the Yankees game? Yeah, it's Oh, it's even worse than I thought. I mean, that's a big series, right, But they're the two the two teams in the in the East? Is that in
New York? Was it in in in It's in the Bronx. It's in the Bronx Baltimore right now? Is one and a half gams back in the Yeah, okay, well there you go, making a making a statement. You know, this is this is where the dog days start. Right. It's hot, you know, most teams have fifty or sixty games in. You know, you're still you still got one hundred games to go. You're trying to make sure that you stay in the race. But you know, bodies start to, you know, start to wear out. You know,
Dodgers have had a bunch of injuries. U all the teams are dealing with those. You're trying to get guys back, the Dodgers trying to get k Clayton Kershaw back. Walker Bueller, who's who was there ace a couple of years ago, has not been very good coming off of his his surgery. It's this is the time where baseball season starts to get long, and they're
not even halfway yet. They're not even halfway. But you know that game with the with the Orioles, you know that they you know, they want to they want to make it make a statement against the Yankees, and it sounds like they are. So that's very cool, very cool. All right? What else? Uh? Oh, I don't know if you guys talked about it yesterday, but the College Baseball World Series is going to be A and M in Tennessee. Yeah, tax a one last night, okay,
and that starts on Saturday. Saturday and Saturday for thirty our time. Okay, yeap, they're up in Omaha. So that's a three game set or best of three, best of three. Tennessee and Texas A and M a couple of SEC teams, all right, you know, say what you want. Uh, there were too many of them in the in the in the tournament anyways, they were bound to bound to finish it. But you know, two teams that I remember, Texas A and M ever being good at
baseball. So you know, there you go. Tennessee has been good for you know, a lot of years at different times and stuff like that. But I think, uh, Texas A and NAM is a little bit of a newcomer to this. I don't know, I don't know, you know, this this is like the first year I've not really followed college baseball as closely. Yeah, I like last year, year before, I mean I
tended to watch it. I think it was a little more exciting last year and the year before, but I don't know, this year has just been kind of dull. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, you know, I mean it's where, you know, again, like I said, we're at that time where things start to settle down Okay, we're gonna be talking about the NBA draft coming up. We'll get some we'll try and get some people in here to talk to us about that. Arizona's got a couple
of guys and you know, they may get drafted. I think, uh, Keisha Johnson has moved up up the draft board a little bit. I don't know where Pela Larson is on any of the mock drafts, so he'd gotten into him. I don't know if he's still in there or not. But uh, you know, you like to you know, Arizona, you start getting guys, you know, drafted again. Uh, you get a couple of guys out there, you know, if they do, they you know, then you're starting to feel it. You know, Tommy Lloyd's getting
guys out there. You know, Benedict mather and got drafted a couple of years ago, very high, Dyale and Terry Rissian Coloco. So you know they wanted to Arizona. Who needs to continue putting guys in the draft because that's how you get guys in right that guys want to come and they want to know they've got a chance to be in the NBA. So we'll see we'll see what happens. So I don't know, is there hands down number one pick this year that you're aware of? Think? So I've actually I'm
trying to pull something up about Larson. I don't know if it's true or not, but the headline said he was withdrawing from the drafts to go back to school. Really, where did you see that? I was just googling his name just to see. Huh you sure that wasn't from last year because he was in the draft. He went in the draft last year and then pulled out and came here. So maybe maybe that maybe that's what that is. But no, I think he's done with his eligibility, so that that
has to be that has to be an old year. Man. I'm like, really, what what do what do we not know about? All right? Ryan, You're okay, all right, We're gonna let that one slide because I'm like, what the heck? But you know, again, you know, Arizona's been that program or been a program that is, you know, putting guys in the NBA with Josh Josh Green, was you know in the NBA finals? Right? He played a lot more this year, didn't he? Yeah, he played a little a little more. He had more
of a more of a starting role with the Mavericks throughout the year. He's a really good he's a really good three point shooter. Really yeah. He wasn't that when he was here, of course not of course he wasn't. Well you know again, you know you can, you can work on that and reinvent yourself. So, I mean, he's a solid he's a solid roster guy now, not the guy who's going up and down and stuff like that. When I say three point shooter like righterv like, he's not one
of those. But when he gets the chance make it open three, he can, you know, he can think it. Well, good for him. I'm glad to hear that. I mean, you know, I still don't believe he belongs in the rafters at Michale, but you know, I don't wish him to not have a good, you know, a good NBA career. Uh. You know, he was a good guy when he was here, played under Sean Miller, and that particular team didn't do great in the n C Double A tournament. But you know, good, good for
Josh Green. He's you know, he's making his way over there and and sometimes it takes It takes time. You know, if you can hang around long enough, get some experience, get guys to know you, you got a chance to stay. And so he's doing that, so so good for him. I hope it. I hope it works works well for him. All right. About Larson reading reports from this morning, it looks like currently he's objected the faults who number forty three for the heat. Okay, all
right, but but he's in there. I mean, I think when the when the season ended, and maybe it was going into the combine. I don't think either him or Keisha Johnson were were in many of the mock drafts. I think there were a little bit lower. Yeah, I know, I read one. I think it was Bleacher Report, uh huh, and they had one I think it was Johnson who was in, uh huh, but then was not. So yeah, and at one point Larson was in
and Johnson was not. I think, you know, early on. So you know, whoever, whatever's happening, and however people are finding out about these two guys. You know, good luck to both of them. You know, it'd be nice if one of them could slip into the first round. That would be key shot, right because I think it was thirty seven was the last thing we saw on him. But you know, if they
get drafted in the second round, that means they've got a shot. They'll get to go to a camp and have a chance of making the team. So we'll see what happens. I you know, I like both of those guys. I thought they were good soldiers. I thought they were good players. Didn't, you know, didn't get Arizona to where we wanted wanted them to get. But I thought that they were both good guys and uh and didn't and did a nice job at Arizona. You know, I really wasn't
fond of Palla Larson his first year here. I thought he made, you know, a lot of mistakes, right, a lot of turnovers, that kind of stuff. But you know, you saw him grow into, you know, being a pretty good player, pretty good, reliable player, always a good defensive player. So hopefully it works out for him. All right, let's go and take our break. At the top of the hour,
we're gonna come back. Ryan's gonna have breaking news for us, and then we're gonna get into some baseball history again with Greg Hanson talking about some Willie Mays and and and other history like that, because you know, Willy being gone is it's a big deal, and uh, you know, we all, I think, you know, unanimously agree if not the greatest player of all time one of we'll see where Greg sits on that. He's a big Mickey Mantle fans. We'll see where he puts them compared to Mickey Mantle.
But Greg will join us and we'll talk about some of that, So stick around for all that. We'll be right back with breaking news.
