This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jakonsalis on Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services Ensure your most Prized Possessions, katz R two, SAG and i Heeart Radio Station. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball. You're a Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jagon's ass Will see start the show on Thursday? Um? Can we take tomorrow off? Just at half the week off? We just got back? Who do we talk to? Who I know? Who's

my boss? Well, you're the boss. Oh then wait to think, let me think about your call call? How about them nuggets? Well you know what, you know who the boss is? The bosses. Those people out there who were waiting for us to get back on. Yeah, yeah, I'm tired of their complaining. Where you guys that you guys need to be working where we're back? Yeah, and we have we are people coming in today last minute. Yep, we're working the board though. Yeah,

it could be anything. So what do we got today? Just because we didn't really say yeah, you know, um, just there was so much going on that we had to talk about yesterday. We skipped a few things, but one of those is that the Sugar Skulls won last Thursday, last Saturday. I'm from behind when they were down big in the at halftime, scored with about thirty seconds left and then well and then uh Vegas had a chance to kick a field goal to win it and missed it, and so

the Sugar Skulls to win. So they're back in. They're back in the playoff discussion. Another big game this week. They got Duke City coming in where they lost to at home a few weeks ago. So, um, we'll see what happens. So we're gonna have hurt us hurt his chin, the head coach of the Sugar Skulls coming on at four o'clock during our normal breaking news segment. But we wanted to get him and talk to him talk a little bit about last week because again that was a huge win. Rashi

Hodge, You Obey defensive back made a made a very important interception. Cool the the Nighthawks were going in for a game clinching score and you picked off a pass in the end zone gave his Sugar Skulls a chance to go down and get elite go ahead score. So um, Hurdis will come in and talk about last weekend, the upcoming game on Saturday, the two Songs, and then FC two Songs. We're talking to both, you know, the two the two uh Pro franchises that are that are going right now here in

town. And uh Art Biagi, the first year coach FC two Songs, come up and talk to us. It's interesting to have a chat with him for one. Yeah, a lot of things going on over there doing well. Okay, how about them Nuggets? How about them Nuggets? Man that they didn't mess around. They just went out there and beat the hell out of it. I think they just they just realized that didn't play well in Game two and then they wanted to show. Yeah, so we'll see.

I think the pivotal game is this Friday. I think it's over five and five, could be six. I don't know. I think the Nuggets win tomorrow. I think the Nuggets win tomorrow and then oh then if if they win tomorrow, yeah, then so look the we talked about yesterday, the heat. They've had a nice run and then it's an incredible run. Barely got into the into the you know, into the playoffs, and now they're in the finals Um, you know, I'm sure they want to win it.

They're gonna feel bad if they don't. But on the other hand, you know, who would have thought that we're gonna get as far as they did. So if you're listen to this in Miami, don't turn us off. Okay, Well you know no, I mean no, you know you

get that close, right, you want to win it? Oh? Yeah, of course, you know, even if even if you were not supposed to be there, you still feel like once you're there, you should win the dang thing, right and uh, and because you feel like if you got, if you got, you're good enough to get there, you're good

enough to think right, right. It reminds me of a little of this back in ninety seven when Arizona uh beat the odds and blah blah blah, beat beat Kansas and then beat Providence and then beat beat North Carolina taking the Semis right, uh, and Loote tells everybody, well, I guess we're gonna play on Monday. Yeah, what else do we have to do?

Right as right? And that's what they did and they did, you know, and then you know, and then so many other teams you know, you you know, I mean, you don't even get there, so you know, good for the heat. Um, you know, maybe maybe something to build on. Did you beat them because you were talking about it? I didn't, you know, it just it just comes down to it.

I'm a big chicken. Um when I don't feel like I know enough to, you know, to feel good about it, right, I mean, you know, as bad as I am at some of the other stuff, at least I feel like I know what the hell I'm doing. I didn't. I don't. I I don't know, you know. And I'm sitting here saying I think it's gonna be done in five, you know, meaning that the Nuggets should win the next two. But you know, I'm not willing. I don't think. Don't touch it, don't talk about it.

Okay, So how much how much of your winnings will you give me if I don't touch it? No, you're not, you're not. But I'm gonna go beat on the Nuggets the rest of the rest of the series. You can't hold me host I can if I want, so. You can bleed twice blee twice of you trouble so um, yeah, you know, they just look so good, you know, Yeah, yeah, you know again, and that's kind of a team they are though you know, they don't they they're not flashy, they're not splashy. They're not you know,

they don't have the splash brothers. They don't have Lebron, they don't you don't have the big dude, that big That dude just plays right. He just makes He just makes shots, He scores, he gets rebounds and assists. The reason why though I didn't, I didn't bet him because that I bet him because of Murray. Uh, the last couple of years he had been hurt. No one really thought about that or talked about that. And I said, well, they're the best team in the in the league for

a reason. I want a lot of those games won the West for a reason. And he's healthy if he doesn't get hurt. And I hate the game. But he's been fantastic too, you know, and everybody else has kind of fall into place. Yeah and yeah, and so you know, it's just again, there's nothing exciting about the Nuggets, right, Nothing that makes you not even Aaron Gordon, who are exciting, right, nothing that makes you jump off the couch, right. But they're just dang good and

you can't deny that, and they're gonna be good for a walk. They're gonna be good for a walk. You've got guys that are gonna be around from Yeah, sometimes boring is good. It can be. Boarding is good because you win. But you know, and then so often, you know, and in so many cases, people get you know, they get bored with success. You know, you wonder, how, let's say they have a couple of good years like that, does the team break up? Well,

that's what we talked about with the with the Golden State Warriors. Right, they win all these things and you say, well, the dynasty, dynasty, and then things happen, they fight and they punch and blah blah blah, and you're thinking, as well, this is the end of the dynasty. Yeah, so we'll see. In fact, we're trying to get ahold of Curve too, so maybe next week or so. So, you

know, it's it's just it's just it's not sexy to watch. But you know, if you have an appreciation for really good team team basketball, right, they're a star star two, they're fun to watch. Yeah. Yeah, okay, oh, today we want some calls. If you want to call, please do. The first hour is gonna be pretty much call call available. No interview in the first hour. We have two in the second hour with the guys you just mentioned, So if you guys want to give

us a call. Howard sent me a note jay he's on a three month sabbatical from us, not listening to us. He's a self imposed he's still listening. I think. I don't know. He could be. He might be. I'm not sure he's not calling us. First few minutes. Yeah, the fact that I might be a good thing for us. Well, and again there's so you know, there's still a lot of buzz going on about about the realignment stuff and yeah, yeah, the TV deal stuff.

I'll just ask you something about that. Okay, So I gotta text this morning from somebody just kind of my my thoughts on it. And I'm not bursting it well enough, but I'm thinking, don't you think or would you believe this that? Okay, you hear all the rumors, you've heard him for months now, right, wheel Nurse talked, Kenzano's talked. Do we

have a local guys who've talked throw this stuff out there? And I don't really pay attention because just tell me where to go and I'll go um, but that that, like doctor Robbins said, he didn't even know about these stunt things. Do you think with Lyle without lying to the media, that there's people out there that have to kind of shut down the leaks because the leaks might be true, but you can't have the leaks come out. Right.

We've been in this business long enough to know that's a possibility, of course. It is like like I've been thinking about Robin's comments and I kind of went through him again and he it's kind of like he was saying, we don't have a deal on paper, and they don't and they don't write nobody says so he's saying, I, you know, I don't know if you know, we don't have a done deal. Well he's probably he's right, But nobody's saying the deal is done. Everybody's saying there's an agreement and

principle, all the all the issues are resolved. Now it's just navigating the TV deal done because they're still reporting that. A Stuart Mandel, you know, had an article this morning saying it's done, you know, not the TV deal, but the grant of rights that allows them to get the TV deal done and so you know, so that's kind of the next piece.

If something does happen, how soon do you think it will happen? Oh you mean no, it's gotta it's gonna happen for twenty four because this is it, this would be it. It's got to get done now, because it's for next year. No, I'm talking about I'm talking about the Arizona leaving and everything's moving. Won that won't be until some of these uh, some of these deals expire again, like the so you you could be Big twelve deal and the Big ten deal they're like for five years, So this

won't happen forever for a long time. The Arizona won't leave. It then in Colorado or whomever. If Arizona, if Arizona gets stays in the PAC twelve under a new deal here, okay, okay, they're not gonna leave at least for the duration whatever. No, no, no, no, okay, let's assume for second they're gonna leave, that they were gonna leave.

It would happen. It would be next It wouldn't be tomorrow, it would be for next year the season, because yeah, July one or June thirty, Okay, that's what I'm saying, so those schools are onlander contracts, one last year in this league and then moving on if they were to move if they were to move on, Yeah, okay, that's that's pretty quick. I mean USC had two years, right, but they said,

let's get the heck out of jobs. Yeah, the same with Oklahoma Texas's and that and the reason USC and UCLA are still in the league because the current contract required them to stay in the league. Uh, you know, we are paying a huge penalty and nobody nobody wanted on the scale of one to ten, and we just keep an eye on the phones, um one to ten. And I know you want you know, how how I care? I kind of don't because just tell me to go to the game and

tell me who's gonna play. I'll be there. You've been anxious because you just want to know. Right, But that said, how critical is the news outside of you wanted to know? Did you care? Did you care? Because I asked, well, I know this is a dumb question, a weird question, but that's when how big is a story? Is this to you? And he's been on top of it doing whatever, and he says it's the biggest story because of the magnitude of the story. Right,

But at the end of the day, I don't agree with you. No, no, no, no, Yes, I think it's question. I think it's a huge deal because I think it's a huge deal, particularly you know, because of what Arizona one, because you know, we've been in this league for nearly fifty years. Right. Um. To me, I'm a traditionalist. I'm a purist. I love the tradition of of of college athletics, and I love the fact I love where Arizona has been all this

time, as hard as it's been. You know, we had the conversation who had you know, who's had a better a better run in the in the PAC twelve? From PAC ten, PAC twelve, Arizona as here. I've enjoyed. It's it's really I mean, this is gonna sound kind of stew but it maybe a little uh um, maybe I'm a loser about this, but it's added a lot to my life to be following Arizona athletics in the pack. That's maybe the question I was kind of asking you the impact

it will have on your life. Once it said okay, what what what next? For you? I could see I could see myself losing some not not interest, but not being as fanatic if they go to the Big twelve because I don't care about those two. And that's kind of my point. You lose a girlfriend and you find a new girlfriend, but she's not as dynamic as a past girlfriend. I just don't feel like I'm gonna be all that excited about That's my point. Turning on the TV. That's kind of

my point. But but it's important to me because it's gonna piss me off if I'm not. If I'm turning on the TV to watch him play Texas Tech instead of Oregon and US, well that's the option. You're gonna either watch to play Washington Stay or Texas Teck. So why why be worked up about it? That's kind of the fans stuff. I still want to play Oregon. I still want to play Washingtons. I want to play San Diego State. So you want, given the choice, given the dream or whatever,

you would stay and be fine with it. And if they go, it's gonna be If they go, they go, it's it'll be cool for basketball, but it's not gonna be cool for a football And that's what what kind of impact it's gonna be football. It's gonna kind of be Yeah, I mean it's gonna you know. I mean, look, we've played those teams. You know, we've played UH Texas Tech and TCU. Do you're gonna have a better chance I'm winning that league than they do in the Pac

twelve. No, in football, I know they do not. And that's another reason I want them to stay in the Pac twelve. The road and this is why I can't. This is one of the things that, uh why I think USC in UCLA made a mistake. The road to a playoff in football is a hundred times easier in the Pac twelve than it is in the Big ten or the Big But while you're at it, while you're training it, you're gonna get paid to try to do it. Yeah, you're gonna get paid. Look, I don't if they go because the deal in

the Pac twelve isn't good enough. I don't blame them. I just would rather than not. What do you mean if they go, they're going, if they go to the Big twelve Arizona, Oh no, no, no, I'm sorry. The two that we just talked about. Yeah, the transition, you it. If Arizona were to go to the Big twelve. I you know, I wouldn't like it. Yeah, I'd rather say you're you're you're stuck in a hard place because they could very well leave. Oh I know they can't, and I and I, you know what, and

I'll accept it. I probably won't like it as much. I'm not gonna like going to you know, love Buck instead of Eugene, right or you know, or you know, wake On instead of Seattle. I'm not gonna like that. I'm probably not gonna go to those places anyways. Yeah, okay, we gotta go. All right, let's no, we don't know, we don't have to go, but but we will. We choose to go, so yeah, let's go and get out of here. Wouldn't come

back, and I don't know why, but we'll be back. We'll talk more about whatever you want to talk about. Uh, well, are we talking about just the I know Rick is gonna probably say some of the things that you you want to talk about or you just talked about about. You wanted to stay in the Pack twelve, you used to the Pack twelve. I don't disagree that basketball should be a lot of fun, right That would be a basketball should be a lot of fun, you know, and and uh in Texas Tech Tech. Yeah, in Houston and all

those teams over here for home games. That should be a lot of fun. Okay, here is Baylor. Yeah, hi on the air and I on the ball. Yeah, it must have been something I said. No, we will work, you say, now, we don't have the kid in here working the buttons. It's me and so anything can happen. But hold that thought, because if you say something stupid, we're gonna still hang. Hey, I missed you tuesday. I missed you tuesday. Hey. Hey, by the way, I sent you a text. I didn't get

it last week about an ad Oh no, I didn't get it. I didn't get it, resended, I didn't get it. No, you didn't know. You didn't read it. That's right. No, no, no, you know I love you. Your your checks cash, Yes, I know they do. It didn't take it. Didn't take you along either, Right? What do you got, guy? What do you got? What? What are you gonna give me a cab? Are you back on the air? Yeah, you're on the air. Oh I thought I thought you guys were off the air. No, no, I no, I answer

that you're on the air. And I really think that going to the Big twelve would be great for Arizona football, and I'll tell you why. The exposure will be a whole lot bigger um and it'll take him a year or two to get acclimated, but it will improve the quality of football, and it'll draw a lot more fans to Arizona football than currently with the PAC twelve.

Number one, because baseball and softball will also benefit, because again, you're talking about an mindset of the Big twelve in sports that I don't get comfortable with. With the PAC twelve. I've always thought as the PAC twelve is more of a softer environment. I think the Big twelve, you know, the Big ten, as he acc those are sports environments and I think it would be a great coup for Arizona to go there. So why the fans bis you think that? Why do you think more fans will come for?

That? Will be part of that, because it's it's just a mentality of I've been in Texas, I've been to the Cotton Bowl several times, I've been to Tech, I've been to Lubbock watching the football game. That environment transitions, they travel, They travel far better than the Pact twelve will travel and that will bring an enthusiasm and I guess a competition to the Arizona fans that we really haven't had. I mean nothing against USC, UCLA and

all the other teams, but the Big twelve is a different world. And I think it would be a big coup for Arizona and Arizona State to go over there and be part of this environment because it will elevate the exposure, it'll bring more talent, it'll bring big the fund raging and there to bring a mindset in the mentality that we don't get out of the Pac twelve. I will give you that because you're right. You know the Pac twelve. You know their fan bases, aren't you know? Uh, they're not rabid.

They don't bleed with their teams. The way even the Big twelve does is certainly not the way the ACC and the Big Fan. But I'll give you this two just because Tucson is one of those. They didn't grow up here. They're from somewhere else, right, And a lot of them are from the Big twelve, Big ten countries where you know, I will brought a lot of fans, and teams like that would bring a lot of fans. Yeah, And So I agree with all of that because it will change

sort of change the dynamic of you know, football games. Their fans will travel. You know, Texas Tech fans will come here. If Baylor, if they're good, they'll come here. You know we've seen, uh, you know some of those other schools. You know. It's so yes, I agree with all that because you know, UCLA fans come to Tucson and there's like eighty of them and they're nice. You know. Well, let me you Rick, you said, Rick, you said that the transition may

take a couple of years. Arizona will have to get tougher. Duffer Jeffer, Ye, how long do you think they will get tougher? Because they're gonna be Tech, They're gonna be playing even in baseball and softball. The mentality is a whole lot different in the South than when you look in the Big twelve. I've been to Oklahoma. I mean, good heavens, those people they eat, drinks, smoke, they do everything for Oklahoma sports.

Texas, all of them, Texas Tech. I mean, you look at Texas Tech, you look at Texas A and M. You look at Baylor, you look at Tech. Texas. I'm telling you Texas footballers. Those ugly orange uniforms. Fans all wear them. Yeah, no, I hear you, and I'm not you'll for instance, I know, I know I was not in the Big twelve, they're in the Big ten. But I just remember that I will get we had here in the studtures. I mean, they were everywhere well, and they weren't the nuts. Look at the

Dakota State that there is. It's just people in those areas. Now Arizona will have to it's fan base will have to get more more rabbits to get up their too. Yeah, we'll have to up their game. And so yes, I completely agree with you on that. I just still think that from a football standpoint, if if Arizona wants to, Arizona will be able to compete better. I guess is what I'm saying. In the Pac twelve or in the Pac ten or whatever it is, there'll there'll be a bigger

dog, at least initially. I don't know for how long or if they if it'll stay that way, or what will end up happening, you know, a few years down the road. But you know, if, for instance, if trying to get to the playoff is the goal, now in football, they've got a better shot at in the staying in the Pac twelve

than going to the big twelve. That's how I feel. Yeah, and I and I and I don't think that's the case either because frankly, they haven't been successful in the pack twelve, back ten or whatever it is. Right, and the reality is they since Dick told me was here, so and and we just if you want to learn how to fight, you don't you go to fight the big boys. You don't fight with the little guy. Well, you're a little guy. So no, I'm talking about that.

No, I'm saying you'll have to learn how to be a big boy. You will have because you're not. You're not a big boy. It will change it. It maybe change it for the better. Maybe it does become more fun. I'm still not looking forward going to love it. You remember when Oklahoma was here and what nineteen it was. Yeah, it's like nineteen eighty nine or nine when Oklahoma was here. Yeah, I mean the fan base crawled out from the woodwork just to get seats to that game,

right, and it was a great game. We won six to three. Ye I sat next to Barry Switzer. As a matter of fact, they gave me seats in the red zone and it turned out to be the Oklahoma base and there I am next and I'm literally sitting next to Barry Switzer and what a gentleman, and the fans with first class. But I'm telling you, the fans show up and A would be great for Arizona sports. I always knew you were name dropper. Rick, Hey, thanks for going.

Thank you Send me that text, Send me that text. I didn't get have a good days. Send me that text again, Rick said, I mean said some smart things there. I do agree that you know Pac twelve football versus Big twelve football in terms of you know, the way the fan bases are and the important to the fans. Yes, it's a it's at another level. Even in the big flow. If you're gonna rate the five Power or five conferences on their fans, Pac twel is at the bottom.

You know, even if USC fan doesn't travel well, it's not that they're in different there there's two fan base, two football fan bases that travel well. Washington and Oregon. That's it. Everybody you know Stanford, you know, you can't find anybody from Stanford here and call the same way the band show up and about forty other people. Yeah, no, it's it's uh, it's not good. It's just a different mindset here. Even the quality

of players. It's more soft than anybody that's go East. And they're they're gonna have to recruit those type of guys that are gonna be wanting to come here to play in that league. Well, you know, I mean the big question becomes because you're playing again, we're this is just an assumption. Anybody who's just turning on the radio and we're talking about Arizona being in the Big Twelve, they're not. We're just talking about what if let's take this

call about ourselves. Yeah, we missed the call. Sorry, I get us a call back. Well we'll pick it up. I got our eye on the on the light now. Um, you know, let's assuming Arizona does go to the Big twelve. Is it going to help him recruit Texas and Oklahoma and those places yesterday? I don't know, they too will helped up their game with those types about this, you know, and maybe they'll get those because they're in the league. Here, go get all right higher

on the Aaron on the ball. Oh great, hey, yeah, First off, your show is great. I love having a local talk radio show about sports and that I um so okay, But we want to talk about the fact that that Aaron Judge got hurt running through a fence at Dodger Stadium and is that a coincidence or not? Is that what we're going You know, first off, I love that he did that. Man, he's just an all out player, Yes he is. So what about what about the

Yankee? Well, really, I was just calling to tell you guys that I love your show. Well, we appreciate that. What's your name? My name is George, George, thank you. How long have you been listening? George? Yeah, I'd say about a year. Uh oh glad. You know what. You know? What we could add I think that would be interesting is a poker strategy. So I know who George is. George. I gotta tell you, George, I am lost on Texas hold

him. I am lost. I have no idea. I've tried to play it like you know on an app, and I've tried to I am lost. George. Well, so don't don't ask. Don't ask that guy sitting next Well, I was gonna tell you, George. You can go ahead and tell him what happened last night. So we played small We played a small game, a small game. We're, we're, we're, we're,

We're in a game. And I get a really good hand and the guy sitting cross from me apparently has a really good so it turns out he's raising me, and I say, okay, I'll raise you, and we ended up he actually had four eight, which is a pretty good hand. Yeah. I ended up with four kings. Oh look at you. Yeah, that's the first time that's happened, right out of the man it was. I looked at him and I said, I knew you had that too,

because you wouldn't. You re raising me, you know? And I said, oh god, I had to find his car and his tires and stuff of you. I hate that. Hey, George, thanks for keep listening absolutely, and thank you guys. All right, thanks much, George. Yeah, you crushed me last night. You know, I had, I had, I had that happened to me in high school once, uh you know, just uh Texas. It was just seven cards and I had I had a full house and it was like kings and something kind and beat me

on it and I'm throwing I threw up. I basically threw like all my next week's lunch money and the week after that lunch money, and I lost Dad, Dad, I need some more. I was. I was so I remember, I remember like it was yesterday. I was so upset. I left the party. Haven't played since slid. Yeah, I'm you know, I've never been a serious I you know, I mean, we played poker in high school, you know that kind of you know, Nichols dimes quarters kind of thing. But um, I've only twice played poker in the

casino and had a bad experience both times. One time about an eighty five year old lady just smoked, and then the other time, um, I had I had, I was going. It was me and another guy and I had three of a kind, and you know, we turned them. I turned over my three of a kind and he goes, I have two pair and these is two pairs of ten. Yeah, two pairs. When he said two pair, I'm I'm already starting to reach for the money.

Then he said two pairs of tens and he flips them over. The dealer looked at me like, those were the goods you want to kick through. The dealer looked at me like I don't make me call security, okay, because I will call security. You know. I just picked up my stuff and left up. It was the only two times that I played in a casine call in a show. Hi, you're on the R and I on the ball. How's it going today? What's up, Brian? What's going on? Well? Uh, there's soul back twelve thing. Um, you

know, I don't know what's going to happen. What do you what do you let me? What do you want to happen? What do you want to have? I have another question, Big twelve? You want to go to the Big twelve? Why? Yes? I do? Why? Okay, I'm not too excited about the quality a product we're going to have in the back and twelve whoever hell it is? Yeah, Um, I mean it's it's not so much okay that the team's travel sort of well. In

the fact, twelve not great, Arizona does travel pretty well. Um. I also think that this whole thing, the contract people don't realize when we get to the streaming service, everything is going to change. You just can't pop on the tv. There are but that's gonna happen. But that's going to happened anyway. And pretty soon ESPN is going to be a streaming service.

But that's going to happen whether no matter what happens with the coming with the TV deals that are happening right now, the next round of TV deals, there's gonna be so much streaming because that's where that's where television in general is going. ESPN is doing it right, that's where television in general's going. That's not going to be affected by We're just gonna have to get used

to it. That's how we're gonna watch television. Yeah, you know, but I just can't see the quality of team that we're gonna bring and to the conference to make up for losing UCLA and US brands. Right, you're right, you know. And I mean you could take San Diego State great, I mean, uh, that's special. Then we're taking that basically for the southern California market and that's it. I don't know if their sports are

that great. So if you look at who else, who else are gonna take and takes MU, you know, GCU, whatever, you know, let me ask you another thank you. I think you're better off going to the Big twelve where they Okay, we would not be hurt The basketball would be very good in the Big twelve, no doubt about that. If you take us a while to catch up in football, you know, taking us a while to catch up in the Back twelve too. Let me ask you one question, so too, the softball would be good. They have good

softball in the fact, I mean the Big twelve. Um, you know, I just think the other sports would be good too, big name schools and they you know, it'd be nice to have Baylor come out of here and play football, or Texas Tech or I mean, of course you won't have Texas and Oklahoma is they're leaving. But I think you better grab yourself to a conference soon because as soon as that a SEC decide to expand again, everything is going to change again. The Big Gun is going to change.

They're gonna go after Washington and Oregon. They have no choice. Yeah, yeah, Bryan, let me ask you one quick question before we go. Make it short though. Okay, So let's the super a second, and this assumption Arizona goes issue stays upon further review. After the forty some years, for the years together in the Pac twelve, who had it better athletically overall? Yeah, across the board, Arizona. Why, I think if you look at as smart, they had some good years in football in

the nineties. He has not been any kind of abortion football for the last fifteen twenty years. Either has their basketball teams here hasn't. Their baseball team hasn't been matched. The girls softball team on the national a couple of national championships. Yeah, but otherwise there's their sports aren't any They're not any better than ours. I mean, our football program hasn't been very good that our basketball program has, our baseball program has. Our softball program besides the last

few years has been very good. It's a close call. I think it's a close It's a relatively close call. But I still I agree with Brian. I think it's I think Arizona has had a better go. Yeah, okay, all right, Brian say wants to stay to be the big dog and a mediocre gog And that's what That's exactly what we talked about. Absolutely. Okay, thanks for Brian. We got to go to break. Thanks so much, man. Okay, all right, we do have to go

to break. So you know what, and look, most of the people down into Sony are gonna say that, yeah, you go up to temp. They're gonna say they might went to two rose balls and you haven't been to one, and they might have valid points that we don't see. Yeah, yeah, they Like I said, I again, I think that outside of football and basketball, it's kind of even. Yeah, right, so I think again, basketball has been way better in Tucson. In football,

Ace who has been a little better than Arizona. So I know, all right, let's take a break and we'll come right back. They welcome back to win the Ball Here Buck Sports fourteen fifty French Steve, he's Jay. We're gonna spend some of the last

ten minutes here talking about bricking news. We have a little bit, right, Yeah, we have our callers starting a four and then four fifteen issues. Right, well, okay, so right, Artist channel comin at the top of the hour, head coach of the Sugar Sculls at four o'clock, and then Mark Biaggi, head coach of FC Tucson, coming on. Well, probably we're like four to plenty, so we'll talk to both of those

guys. So m but interesting stuff. Today, the Big Ten announced its football schedule for next year when USC and UCLA are in the league, not in terms of dates, but who's playing who and where in the first year under the league. So obviously those of us who are wishing the worst for Ucla USC and hoping that their schedule sucks, here's here's what it looks like. And look again, this is just way it's gonna be, you know, forever and never. Right, they're gonna these are the road trips that

they're gonna have to play. But USC and his first year in the league, will have five road games, with one of those being UCLA, so it's across town. The four the other four road games for USC are Maryland, Far Northwestern, Far, Penn State, Far Further, and Purdue, So they got Maryland, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, and UCLA. Their home games are Illinois, Iowa, Michigan which will be a big deal, right and Wisconsin. But you know that's the you know, that's their

uh, that's road. But then the teams that they'll play again the following year, so they're called two play opponents, so you're playing back to back and everybody else gets rotated. So they've got to play Penn State, UCLA and Wisconsin in back to back years. They'll always play Ucla. Everybody's got your protected um A protected rival. UCLA only has four home games, but I'm only four road games. But they're at Indiana, at Iowa, Michigan, and Rutgers, so they got to go all the way to New Jersey.

I guarantee you or I should say this is probably safe to say that UILA is gonna struggle. Well you look at their home schedule. Okay, they've got Minnesota, who's been good, but they've got on top, playing Michigan on the road. They've got Ohio State at home, and they USC. But I'm saying they'll struggle a lot for a long time. Yeah, Yeah, they're gonna be. They're gonna be Missouri in the like Missouri in

the SEC. You know, they may get up and play and win eight games here and there, but they're you know, they're, they're they're they haven't been good in the Pack twelve. You know, they haven't been as good as it should be, right right, you know, I mean Arizona be them last year. It's all you need to say. But yeah, and I just did. But you know, again, you look at the but you look at the schedule. I mean, okay, you know that's what you were. That's what we're gonna have to do. So now they've

got to play Rutgers back to back. They got to play Nebraska back to back. If Nebraska gets good, you know, your CLA is way down the list, you know, and they will be the Arizona of the pack. You know what, that's a crap thing to say. True, that's a real crap thing to say. It's true. I don't care if it's true. It's still a crap thing to say. To bring in a perspective, folks. You know, you on me. Just come around you you

know where there's a different looking these three foot again. It's right now we're starting to find out. Okay, these are the travel plans. But really again, when you think to me, the travel for football and even basketball, not a big deal. They're gonna travel, they're gonna charter all that stuff. It's when the volleyball team has to get on a commercial flight and you know, having a three hour layover coming and going and all that stuff.

That's the stuff that's gonna be concerned for the students. Concerned for the students. But I really am you know, look, dude, I you know we used to have getting on a bus and go to OHO every year. That's now that's crucial. Where are you going? We went to Valley Union down there in uh in Alfrida. These are not the top those times. Man had to go to Safford uh Pima then not Pima College. I'm talking Pima over there by the Copper mind, which there isn't a fast way

to get there from here. You got to go into big circle, um, and you walked to school and your bare feeble and you know, I mean we would get our we would get our kids home at eleven o'clock at ninth and they'd have to go to school the next morning. And tough times. Yeah, that was just like recent too. Yeah that was not that long ago. Actually was It's been a while, you know, but both

my kids are going on being out of school ten years. So anyways, it's just you know, okay, the part that doesn't make sense, it's not the football and basketball park, it's the rest. It's the rest of it. It doesn't make it. Well, the other guys are bringing in the money, so they'll have to deal with it, right. Um Jack Swarbeck, the athlect director at at Notre Dame, he's stepping down. They initially said retired. Then everybody's correct himself. He does not, he's stepping

down. Just kind of like what uh you know the USC guy did. Yeah, I don't know if there's something wrong yeah, Um, you know, well this wasn't one of those ones where they say, gonna spend more time with his family. Yeah, so he's so he's gone, So that's changing. Um, you know, I don't know, man, it's uh, you know, that's at a time when again Notre Dame is in the middle of TV negotiations and all kinds of stuff like that. So it's it's gonna be. It's just so much happening, you know. I was again

listening to there's a lot of discussion of these everybody. For some reason, everybody's on the Capitol Hill right now. All the you know, athletic directors, head football coaches and U have a sas in a summit there. Uh yesterday, what's the purpose? The purpose? I'm not really sure. We need to ask Robbie Robinson. But why did you guys do that? Especially whatever? I think they wanted one. They wanted to try and get in

front and kind to get their name out there. Somebody who's kind of yeah, a school of influence, let's say, um in the in this whole you know, N I l realignment, uh, landscape, but um, you know, and I look, Robbie Robinson loves this stuff, right, guy was he was a college junior college. He loves dabbling in the sports. Sure, and so well, someone would say that he might be the ad God. I hope Dave's not listening to that. No, it's not like he hadn't heard that. No, but still not from us. No.

But you know what I'm saying, I do. I do Robins luck, he's the hands he's a hands on president when it comes to athletics. We all, we all do know that. Do you see he's there too, He's probably there. Yeah. I think they're right. I think they're all there. Yeah. Um, and you know they took some athletes with them and they're just having some conversations what they're doing. An interesting thing that I heard on the discussion was is all of this a waste of time?

Well, that's and that's kind of where something after getting exactly I think we'll ask him if we get him next week. One of the other breaking news that we had was that we didn't talk about your day. I don't think it happened this day. Guyst wins his h his national title in the shot put. Oh, guys, happened last night. That was cool. My daughter Rachel, who was UM for a couple of years, she was the sid for track and fields. She still follows, she's followed on her phone.

Yeah, and we're sitting, we're having dinner. She goes, she jumps up. He won it, won it? He on his last throw and he beat the guy at a s U who transferred from Arizona. I think that's the name transferred from Arizona to a SU. That's the guy who been a second. He beat him by I think like three quarters of an inch or something like that. Well, and so good for Jordan. Guys, you gotta get him back on the show. Have you been watching the

college oral series? Super No fantastic play. Obviously Oklahoma is just so so good, so pure, holy crowd. I did watch a bunch of the game, that Stanford game. Yeah, that was the extra inning game. That was a great game they had. They should have won that. They have had to beat him again, which would have been unlike but but it would have stopped a lot of the streaks and all that stuff. I mean, I I feel like it's a fore gun conclusion. Yeah, there's there.

They play again with thirty thirty today, so now I have not been watching it. Uh, but interesting. What's gonna happen in baseball though? You know, I want to tell you that it starts today. Uh. I think the Super There may have been a Super Regional or two that started today, but I think most of them start tomorrow. In fact, we'll have Andy Lopepe tomorrow to talk about this stuff, you know, being in

the playoffs, uh and all that stuff. And I don't know if you know this another lesson minute breaking news, Uh, the Belmont and I may not be running. Why I saw that. Well, there were a couple of baseball game and Major League Baseball game not even in the same place right, One in New York, one in Chicago that got postponed because of the heavy, heavy smoke coming from Canada wildfires. Yeah, and they uh, they canceled racing at uh at Belmont today. The Belmont Stakes is on Saturday,

so it's clear enough. Let's see what happens. No, they have to they have to test them to Yeah, do them because you know the smoking. If they yeah, I mean if they if they race these horses and then they start dropping because of the smoke, man, that'll be that'd be disaster for the horses, for for for everybody. Yeah, I saw that. Okay, cool, there's pretty other stuff that we missed, but

we got to get out of here. Yeah, we definitely do. It's uh, we're gonna be back when we get hurt his chin right here at the top of the hours. To stick around, we'll talk some sugar skills football with him, and then we'll uh, we'll have Mark Biaggi to talk FC two soon right after that. So if you stick around for a little bit, you'll hear some stuff about our pro teams here and two sons. So hang around the com
