Streaming live. I mean, iHeartRadio. Wow. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Hey, welcome to joining the ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, He's Jacinsaus. Now we have our guy, Kevin Good. Breaking news is on the ball, Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. All right, so we do have some breaking news this Thursday related to Tucson, specifically

guys. Eric Rodgers, the South Point football head coach who's led the team to the playoffs the last four years, has left his position as the head football coach. He cleaned out his office Tuesday. Our friend Javier Morales said, right right, No, you come up. You you kind of rouse your eyebrows when it happened when you saw well, you know, it seems sudden, right, you know, and it's just how the story's written. Yes, it seems odd. I mean, is there something going on?

Is that you know? No, I don't know who had an eight clean that this was about to happen. He's been successful, right, He's got him to the playoffs. You can't he's been to a state championship in a state semi final game. I don't know if certainly the state semi final game.

Uh, they got to the semis in six A this year. One of the more successful teams in the city against good team right at at what in the in you know, at the top of the food chain for for a high school football in Arizona. I mean it's kind of stunning, right, No, No, it is with quality, quality players. Obviously he took over for tennis benet. Yeah, and nothing's really dropped off. Yeah. And then the way I guess, I guess it catches my when Javier

says he cleaned out his office, it's like it implies it. Well, that and then he didn't respond to and right, well, and there was a statement issued. Let me see if I okay, if I have that, I didn't see the Yeah, South Point issued a statement. South Point Catholic High School is grateful to coach Eric Rodgers, was for success, for

successful seasons and the Lancer's head varsity football coach. He's impressive record at Southpoint includes two six A state quarterfinalists, five A state runner up in five A state quarterfinal rankings. South Point appreciates coach Rodgers' leadership and commitment to the Lancers. We wish him the best, the very best in his future endeavors.

Now, maybe he's getting the college job or something. Who knows what it is, but it's kind of sudden, I would And maybe if he's not responding it, maybe he is getting a job but he can't say anything. Maybe, yeah, a lot. We can sit here expecting it all day. It just seems rather sudden. But this is the hiring period four coaches and stuff like that, So maybe there's something there and we'll hear from him later. I don't know, but very sudden. And the guy who's been

very successful. Yeah, like you guys said, he did reach that five A state championship game in twenty twenty one. Yeah the year. Yeah, but yeah, that is shocking news coming out of solid Point. We have someras more Arizona football news, the University of Arizona football news this time. And Noah Flafida has been names the Athletics twenty twenty three Freshman All America Team. Yeah again, a guy who didn't play for the first four games.

But you know he's gonna be in the conversation for a lot of things, both of him and especially when you think of the quarterbacks who are all leaving, well they're going to the Big twelve anyways. But you know, but you know, Panics is gone, Nicks is gone. Uh, J Daniels, Jayden Daniels. He's a senior, a bunch of you know, a bunch of the top quarter Then there's other quarterbacks moving around. Caleb Williams,

you know, gone, Uh, there's gonna be some room. The thing about it with with Fafido and then you can argue with me or tell me the full of it is he's not spectacular because what does he do well? He's just good. He just win And guess what you need from a quarterback being just good and wins? What a Troy Man. He wasn't a fantastic arm He was just a smart dude who got the ball to the right people. Even in the NFL, nobody saw him as like a spectacular quarterback.

But they won some super Bowls. They were really good. He was really good. Guys in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, I compared him to Rock pretty earlier this season. I think that's continuing to look good for myself. Was Rock pretty So what do you need from a quarterback? But that and if you look up rock pretty highlights. Unless you're like a football nerd, you're probably not blown away, sure by anything. He was the last dude take it was. Yeah, that's the whole thing. Mister irrelevant going

to be well, he's not that anymore. Yeah, exactly, he's pretty relevant. Wendel Moe, a guard, also made that All Freshman team lists for the Wildcats as well, and then t mac was was named a finalist for the twenty twenty three Polynesian College Football Player of the Year award. Right right, there's a Jed Was is a finalist for something too. There was the Coach Coach of the Year another war. Yeah, this was named the semi finalist for the George Munger Coach of the Year Award by the f w

A A right, right, come on. Over the last few years since maybe Richard Richard Richard rich Rod are thinking not too many spectacular moments or from people we're mentioned in his later years throughout some of the years. The last two years. Now you're getting all these getting and that's one of things that Jed also talked about today is that you know, he said, we're gonna have a bunch of guys in the NFL. And that's in the end,

that's kind of what players are looking for. I mean money now too, but you know, they they want they want to know that they're going to have an opportunity if they go somewhere that you know somebody's going to prepare them for the NFL. And that's what I think has been one of the big attractions with Fish and his staff. A bunch of NFL guys, some college guys, right, longtime college guys, but a bunch of NFL guys and and and Jed creates that expectation for them. He says, Look, we've

been to the NFL, We've all been around. We know how to get you there, and if you're good enough to get there, you can get there with us helping you out. Yeah, and going hand in hand with what you said about how fit kind of matters. And we've talked a lot this season about how recruiting as the Nile change as you need to find guys

who want to fit with your team. Jason Sheer, I don't know if he was the first to report this, this is where I'm getting from him today that one of our safety's cruise rushing who's the brother of Eliza Rushing is also entering the transfer total. Who yeah, because you want to find where you ever you want to fit in, right, get in where you fit in. And then some fun news. The Pride of Arizona our marching band, has received the Subtler Trophy, which is presented by the John Phillips SUSSA

Foundation. It's viewed as the Heisman Trophy of the collegiate band world. So the Wildcats good on the field and good on the field at halftime too, So it's it's a fun little award uh being given out to the Pride of Arizona. Yeah, fully they could get a band entrance before the game.

Seriously, and what the hell you on time? Band camp. Jay's favorite quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, has returned to practice after his his ankle injury the other night, And I saw that he had stated that he felt lucky that the injury was not worse and that he's feeling okay and able to get back to practice. J do you have any thoughts on the severity of that injury this weekend? All indications point to maybe that's what I mean, That's what

I would say, because he was maybe he was pretty noncommittal. He was noncommittal about it. Uh, he's trained his left knee a couple of weeks ago, and they were kind of saying the same thing like, well, he might play, he might not play. He feels good, he'll play. I had to go out and pick up Gardner Minshew to be my quarterback. But he's doing really well a football player. Well, that's why I picked him up. He was the fact that he's available means nobody thinks much

of it. But he's winning and he's he's he's a brock party of whatever. Shane Stychen. Actually he is getting a lot of love for that's their head coach. He's he's getting a lot of love for possibly Coach of the Year votes as well, like the Colts because of what you can kill many moan jacket I did. I had no idea was talking. Is that to do that? The corner here a pretty yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. What's time between Princeton and Oracle and Indy So yeah, but yeah, charl

Lawrence might may be returning to the field this weekend. And then more news out of Jacksonville. I know this seems random, but there's an ex Jacksonville Jaguars employee who allegedly sold over twenty two million dollars from the virtual credit card system that the Jaguars have. He was using that money to buy cars, bet on sports, and daily fantasy, and his lawyers come out and said

that he has a serious gambling addiction. And that is what I want to I want to know though, how he was able to steal that much but without anybody knowing that that that that that was missing. I mean, you know, you've got your own business, Steve. I got my own business, yeah, and I know where every he is, right, I mean, how did I try to? But how can you not know that twenty

two million dollars is missing from your organization? Prask Arizona for the two hundred and forty million, well, it was a miscalculation that nobody took the money. It was just they didn't do their books right. This guy took money from their you know, from their coffers and and and did that. That's

great. Allegedly, that's crazy, Yeah said that. It said that it started as like a little small, you know, throw a litt one hundred dollars on a gamble here, you know, a little there, and then it kind of spirals out of control, and it says the losses were most significant in the final months leading up to the NFL's investigation. I'm getting that from the Athletic uh So that the NFL has been investigating this for months now

and we're just now getting to it. Speaking of big money in football, Marvin Harrison Junior, I don't know if you guys saw this is reportedly undecided about returning to Ohio State or going to the NFL Draft because he's allegedly receiving offers for NIL deals that could possibly rival his rookie contract in the league. Crazy. What do you guys think about that? Because I saw some discussion talking about why would he not try to get these endorsement deals in the NFL.

I want to know. I like Doug Faff and Glenn Parker Field, but we talked about right, you know he was born to Yeah. Yeah. And then last bit of news I'll toss in here to you, J. I know you're a big golf guy. John Rahm is leaving the PGA Tour for Live golf and he thoughts about that. I have three letters as U. That's where he went to school, and that's where that's where he

developed his character. No, you know, in reality though, if they're going to give him there's a lot of things that would do for three hundred four hundred million dollars, probably pretty much most of anything except maybe kill a guy. You know. Uh, I see what it's. It's it's generational money for him and his family. And I've never I've never really you know, in terms of going for the money and taking it. I've never really

criticized them for that. But I always criticize those guys for was for not saying it was about the money. Yeah, right, for saying, I'm going to try and make the game of golf better. You want to be right, bull bull crap, you took you took it for the money, and just say you took it for the money. There were a couple of golfers who did they said, you know, I'm taking this money, you

know. But it's the guys who say it's for something else. Those are the guys that that I get, you know, like Michelson, you know, Phil Miokson who started the whole thing, say no, I you know, I'm trying to make the game of golf better. Shut up. You had ae hundred million dollar gambling problem. And that's why you took it, because you had to fix that, and this was the opportunity to make everything

right. That's why you took it. Don't feed me the crap that you know you were trying to do. You know you had some benevolent action. Yeah, exactly. You know you needed the money, you took the money. Just say it. Yeah. And I did neglect to mention that the Arizona Diamondbacks made a deal yesterday. I don't know if you guys talked about this. The Arizon Diamondbacks are in agreement on a four year contract for twenty

million dollars a year with Eduardo Rodriguez to bolster their starting rotation. I like the so deal. I was gonna bring that up next. Why because Won SODA's on my fantasy baseball team. I get to keep him for next year. There you go, which finally means he'll blow his knee out of April. Go ahead. Was that one you're gonna talk about? Yeah? I was just gonna say that the Yankees received out the other Wan Soto and Trent Grisham for a slew of guys. Did you see a report I have something

to a couple of quick things did you see a report yesterday? I can't remember where I was gonna send it to you guess when you said, just the one that you sent us on the text about Verdugo Jason Bardugo. Yeah, he's gone to the Yankee. Yeah, but how much of a pain he is? Like, like, oh that they got rid of he was Boston. They were happy to get rid of him because of pain. Oh yeah. I was surprised about that too, that he shows up late for

meetings, kind of lives on his own mind and whatever. Wow. And I thought that he would be traded from use that to go to say Diego because they have now they have a bevy of the battlefielders, especially like him, lefties. So I found that to be strange. And I go ahead, and if you have any more, Yeah, there's one. There is one last thing. While Steve looks that up. Yeah, there was some

college basketball history made yesterday. Caitlin Clark became the first player in D one history, men's or women's and women's to score a three thousand points, seven hundred and fifty rebounds, and seven hundred and fifty assists. She's fantastic. She's fantastic. The Steph Curry of women's basketball pretty much. Yeah. I think she's one of those players where you're tune in on TV and that's the

way she carries herself. You're like, oh, that's a star. I don't know, I don't know what's going on, but that's a story. If you remember the Final four last year when she was they were playing a yellow shoe, it was like the most watched women's basketball game ever because of the what was going on too. But she's fantastic. Okay. So I saw this this morning or last night I can't remember, on on ESPN dot com, and this was a headline on a college basketball story. With five

national championships in twenty five years, is Yukon a blue blood? I saw that as well, So Jay, Yes, right, right right, they're asking this question with five national titles in twenty five years. Of course, Arizona hasn't been to the Final four in twenty three years and a final four in ninety championship in ninety seven. So just just to remind you, I

didn't say Yukon wasn't it was. I'm comparing comparing apples to apples. I'm just saying I still think Arizona is he's delusional, he said, he's delusional. So you did you see if there's a big argument online whether or not they were blue blood. No, I don't think it was a question. But come on five and twenty five. Of course they have to be men. They're women's right. They're just not an old school blue bread, right, They're not an old blue blood like a cancer, not navy blue blood.

Jaken Salmons. This is I on the Ball on Fox Sports fourteen fifty and hey, welcome back to Wyne the Ball, you know, Fox Sports fourteen fiftie. I'm Steve rovera Geez Jakinsaus. Now on the phone, we have former U of a football great Glynn Parker. How are you doing, Glynn? I'm fantastic. I'm thanks for having me on. Great, great to have you on. We want to reminisce about the great these times that you were here at you especially the Oklahoma game. Does it seem so long ago?

You know, yes, it does. It does seem so long ago. It's great. You know, you see a highlight now and then you relive it a little bit, you know. And you know what people don't remember is we went there the year before. We went two of Fumban the year before, and they were ranked one and played them to a standstill. And you know it was no surprise to us that we beat him the next year at our place. Well that's a you know, we were talking to

Doug Faff last segment. He kind of said the same thing because to me, you know, as a fan, you thought of Oklahoma, the mystique, the national championships, Barry Switzer and all that, and you know, now here's Arizona playing those guys. You know, go back to the year before. You know, when you guys went up there. You know what's going through your mind as you're walking into the stadium where all this, you

know, college football history had happened. You know, I had been a fan of college football, so of course I you know, I was into it. But on game day and pregame, little mind is so locked in. I didn't have time to think about much other than one of our one of our players who will come in and out of the game, decided to come in and tell our fans to make some noise. And we were down at the end of the horseshoe. It wasn't it was open, and uh,

their stadium let loose, and we couldn't hear ourselves think. After that. I was like, thanks God, dude, what are you thinking. Don't don't poke the bear? What the bear lie right right? What do you remember most outside of the field goal that Doug hit from that big game in one year, you know, it was just a game where we would pound the ball on the ball, pound the ball. Our defense was spot on. Our defense people forget, you know, when it comes to numbers,

the Desert Storm was a better defense. When it comes to players, not even close to those years. You know they that was Larry McDuff was just fighting his footing as a coach and instilling everything. But when we look at that defense that we played in eighty nine that we had you're talking about, you know, had guys on the d line what you know they played in the NFL. You had dbs like d Lou he had Chris and Kevin Singleton. You had hammer Split. I mean it was it was loaded and

they were so good. Now, Donnie Salem, I did ever think that that they shut down that offense? It was they got three points. Let's face it, nobody did that to Oklahoma. So we just had to keep pounding, not make the mistakes, punk the ball away, let our defense play play the field position battle, and that's how we knew we'd win. But you know, people forget we did have a long pass or a touchdown called back on our left backle who shall remain nameless. He's a friend and

uh and a former NFL player as well, but he was young. It was that was like one of the first, you know, years, and I don't even know if you had started that year until that game. I was sure, but uh, but that's what I remember. It was just a slog. We knew it was gonna be, you know. I it's funny because I was, Uh. We had Doug faff on a while back, and so I dug up the I have the newspaper clipping from that game.

So I sent it to him and then it was still in my computer and I was looking at it. We were making fun of the fact that Doug kicks the game kicks the game winner. But you were in my lead, not him, and you and you you know, and it's because the quote you gave me. You talked about how it was like a hard rock minor, you know, and that you just felt at some point it was going to break, and it eventually did for you guys, when you went

down and got that field goal. But you know, do you, I mean, do you have any any kind of vivid memories of that last drive, knowing we're driving down late in the game to try and win this game, and what was going through your mind and what was going on in the huddle. You know, in the huddle we were very we're downed in listening to the QB getting our plays, but we were as a group, we were like, let's go. This is it. This has got to be

the one. And our running backs got extra yardage every time they were asked to, you know, uh, other than being stopped just dead, they managed to always fall forward, get us a little more. Quarterback made great decisions with the ball, and there's a line. We know we did what we had to do. And I remember think, okay, this is a pretty long kick, but we I think we got a chance at this. And we huddle up and I looked right at Doug pav I said, Doug,

you make this. And every girl on campus is to spend the time with you tonight. The heartache, the motivation, no one's ever said ever. It didn't hurt that he's a blood here, good looking, your time in Tucson. Obviously you came from the JC, had this great career after not really haven't played much of football, right, can you think that this game? What are the games kind of really stand out? Well? You know for me coming in, like, you know, my first year,

I would say the Oregon State game. That was the first time I ever played on turf and it was our first game of the year. So I, you know, I had to see if I could you know, even though I'd come from a JAC and I was starting, could I actually play at this level? And I had a good game. I'd played at Oklahoma game in Oklahoma, the U c l A game are Are eighty nine where

they came in and it was hotter than blazes on the field. It was an ABC mid day kick and I think it was it was well over one hundred degrees on that on that grass field and U c l A. Melton we had come off a bye and we put in the eyebone in that or at least parts of the eyebone for that week and we ended up beating them like forty five days six or something crazy, and they were a very good UCLA team. And we took it to him that that was the that's the

yeah, that's the way. Yeah, David Aldredge uh and and that and just and it just started from the get go. He had a long run like on the first drive, that's what we were not allowed to talk about. But he had a touchdown run on an option to the left side on our sideline that was probably a forty yard or for a touchdown. Yeah, well we we were Jay and I covered the team back then. I don't know if we were not allowed to write about what was going on in practice

or whatever. But you surprised Ucilly with the format, with the with the offensive situation. Uh what were you guys thinking when you guys changed it up on them that week? Well, you know, it didn't change a lot for many people. It really was more formational and and the way we you know, we ran a lot of the same offense. We threw the ball a little better out of it. But what we did with it is we got bigger splits instead of anything like a two foots but we went to like

a one yard or even bigger split. We really split them out, making their guys have to really run with us, and then we would the eyebone. You you allow that middle guy or even the back guy to motion and you get him. So you can line up strong one way and motion strong the other, just by your your running backs. And it greats havoc for a defense. And uh, at least for them, so they had not maybe not think we're going to do it right and uh, but for us

up front, a lot didn't not a lot change for us. It was pretty much the same rules we always had. Well, you know, you talked about that guy who shall remain nameless, and you know, I think there's been a lot of comparisons, you know, this year to that, you know, that offensive line with what this offensive line has been doing this year. You look over the years, you haven't been able to talk about

Arizona's offensive or defensive line with the exception of a couple of years. Do you see that in the in the offensive line that they've got this year. Yes. I watched Morgan in high school and I coached against him, and I told him afterwards, I said, you just keep going and you're gonna you know you've got it, you really do. And I've watched him all year. I mean, he would have been a first rounder last year.

He's gonna be a first rounder this year. I would say this though, the only shortcoming he has, and I think if he had this, he would be a top ten pick. If he needs to learn how to go out and be mean. Yeah, And it's a problem for all offense. It's not just him, it's every offensive and defensive lineman just about in football these days, because in the last twenty five or thirty years, boys are told don't be a bully, don't hit anybody, don't be toxic, don't

do this well that you know. It's hard to train that out of someone. So he's techniquely wise, he's ten times better than I ever was. He's got the long arms, great seat, he's he's a thinner and twenty partner looks at you's two hundred sixty pounds and the kid is just phenomenal. I'd just like to see a little dog in him, man. I'd like to see it get out there and when he's not a guy, you know, on the on his heels, put him on his butt. That's what

I'd like. But that's me. I can ripe a little bit. You're gonna be a top pick and he's gonna have a long crib. Knowing you as long as they've known you. You're not a dog, You're a nice You're a wine cuer. Hey when you when you cross that stripe, the cabernet red, sir, I can't remember what you're doing at You have a like development? Is that right? I'm not, I'm not. I do outreach and engagement, Okay. Foundation do a lot with our alumnis all over

the all over the country, particularly the West coast. But now you know, with go to the Big twelve, I'm going to search out see who we have in Louisville and Morgantown and some of these other places. That's where I wanted to go with it because I'm sure that the success of the program, the football program and the basketball program, now, uh you know as such that it is must be helping you a little. Well. I think you know, when you have successful for sports teams, you always have better

engagement from your alums. Now and there, and and let's not forget there, actually is a thing called the Flutey effect and study. Remember Doug flute touchdown, passed well and won the Heisman World That next year, Florida State saw an absolute search in application. Now, remember, applications costs money. So when we knew, and then of course alums love coming back. They become more engaged. They want to be around the programs, and it doesn't

matter what they majored in. But one thing every student has has in common on that campus when they're there is they watch the basketball team. They watched the football team. They they that's where they That's the one common ground the engineering major has the sociology major with the athlete. You know, they watch

the sports. And so when sports are better, when your teams are better, particularly your your big two, it's going to help the engagement from the alumni and also the applications from people who want to go there because they see the atmosphere and say that looks great, I want to go there. And as you said, you know, there's probably not a better time than you know what, Arizona's guy right now the number one team in the country and

then a ranked a ranked football team. But when you when you when you kind of see that, I mean you got to kind of just lick your chops and say, you know, I got some stuff to work with here. Well, I think it's always it's always good to have it, you know, But in my world, I like I love to engage with our alumni. Right. I learned so much about campus from them, you know, because you know, it's one thing when you're at school, you know

your job. Like you you're okay, you're a journalism major, right, you know the school of journalism, you know your area. You really don't know a lot about what goes on around campus otherwise, and this job has given me the opportunity to really see the I mean, wow, some of the things going on. You're like, holy cow, we do that. That's pretty cool, you know. And then you go go and watch them, you know, uh, make put a new lens for a telescope out

there and pour that glass and all that, and that's amazing. And then you see the art museums and the photography museums and blown away by the scope, not you know, not only the depth, but also that that breadth of of what goes on on a campus and the impacting only has Yeah, yeah, no, no, it's great. Okay, I think that might do it. Anything else about the Oklahoma game, now, what do you think? What do you think about this this Bowl game coming up? Go

Cats, baby, They're gonna struggle. I think they're gonna struggle with I don't not cats. I think we're gonna be fine there. Their quarterbacks entered the portal, I think, I think our running backs. I love Coltman and I love Wiley. And by the way, Wiley is a perfect example of why you do not get into portal. He has worked his tail off and played a little bit every year and more and more, and the guy has just a stud I love him. And you know, the grass isn't

always greener. I don't you know the portal isn't always the best thing in the little like these kids think it is. And I think that we if we can befuddle their quarterback a little bit and get a little pressure on them, I think we got a great chance in this game. I don't know that they can handle our wide receivers and our running game together. I'm not sure they can do that. They're used to seeing great passing game game,

but they're not great. They're not used to singing offensive lines like they're gonna see and a tight end like they're gonna see. They don't see tight ends in the Big twelve. Yeah, let me ask you. We have about a minute left. I think you go to see the practices every now and again, or you're you're engaged a little with it, with the program.

The job that Jed Fish has done, and I'm not talking even more on the football field, but away from it with guys like you, the NFL guys that he brings in to speak about the futures and things like that. To me, that's very impressive. Yeah, it is. And you know, I'll go back to the very first meeting he had with us Viaz he said, we're you know, the question of ask are you gonna bring us

back? What are you gonna do? And remember back in the day, in the greatness of the Tomy era, it was you gotta win Tuson, you gotta win Arizona, and you've got to go to southern California. And since Tony left, it's been, oh, we're gonna go to Texas. Texas. Texas well. Texas is the most over recruited state in the nation, and Fish has changed his focus to California. He's bought talent in and

he's been great with the alumni bringing us in. He has done an amazing job with donors and UH and some of our ore all the stuff that's the main part of being a head coach other than football, he's been great at and he's brought it back. That was a that was a big deal back then. Yeah, and it was a big deal to Arizona fan. See you did a good job. Yeah, there you go. I on the ball.

We have a we have a caller high you're on the ar and I on the ball. Hey, guys, how you doing? It's up powered? Yeah, we my wife and I started our day. It's fifteen to seven on the mall. Then we went back to uh Sweet Johnson, where Glenn actually works. My wife went out to lunch. We came back in the parking lot. My wife goes there he is. She goes, there's your friend. He actually works on the floor underneath her. Glenn does, Oh, okay, all right, so your wife works at Yeah, she

works in the foundation. She was there, been in her current job for two years. She's worked for the u of A for like fifteen years now. And she used to work, you know, in the foothills in the you know, bookkeeping type stuff for there. They had a foundation in the high school foundation and Glenn I met him up there because his kids were in the foothills and we used to live in the foothills. He's, yeah,

he's a he's a great guy. And actually called up when he was hosting with Dean Greenberg, remember that show, And I called him and my brother was listening, because yeah, Glenn liked you because I was talking about provincial people at Dean Greenberger and Jay our friend Jay there, you know what I mean, because that really can't see test the border. That's ever been one of them. Well, yeah, Jay, you've been all around, but not none of us has been all around compared to Steve. No, no,

you're not. You're the opposite, because you've been into eighty arenas around the country. Hey, New Mexico was called out for the two of the most sinful cities in the country. Did you hear that? I saw that on Liternet? Just how long did you when? Yesterday? Yeah? Basically the last days, we've been called out for the two most simple cities in the country in New Mexico. I don't know what city is that. I

didn't read the article. No, I don't. I don't know. I don't know, but I guess basically, one thing I want to get off my chest is that I'm going to be never drinking when I call the show. That will keep me not drinking and losing weight and exactly. Yeah, right, And I'm not gonna you're not gonna have to You're not gonna have to hold your the kill button so close because I'm going to have a full

year. That means till June or may or whatever. All right, Yeah, okay, So I'm hoping you can get some seats from somewhere in the Foundation or some of the donors that don't use the tickets or whatever tomorrow. So that's how I get them, right. Thanks, Well, see you've got we'll see guys sometimes don't know what to make a hard but he's he's a great guy and he calls and that's fine, and he comes far. He comes by remotes all the time. Yeah, the ones that we have

just to hang out, they changed. They changed. Did you see this. I was there last week? High five is no longer High five. They changed it. Oh no, they changed it. It's called Sinco. Now this is funny. This is first right. Uh, I can't remember any Barbara was it Barbara? She was the host. She had us for a couple of months. So I went and hey, I went with somebody said that Sinko maybe have some good Mexican uh food. Now, well, no, it's the same same thing. They just changed the name. And

I don't think I'm breaking any news. It's the bar Rescue came in. Oh it changed it. Wow. Interesting, Right, we'll have to check that out. And we got another collar. You're on the air, the ball man. I got the old guys coming in Nico. How you doing. Yeah, First of all, Steve how much you pay that guy? I didn't I did, I did not do I know what people think. I did not do that. In fact, I just put a thing on Facebook about it, and I think are we Facebook friends? I did.

I swear. I did not say you do a thing. Hey, man, you give me fifty bucks, I'll talk about it. No, you might cuss about it. Hey, it's probably a good book. I don't know. Yeah, it's a good book. Of course it is. Go ahead, what you call harass me? Oh no, I also wanted to say this. I like Howard More When you drink. I hope he doesn't break that brown. Well, you guys, You guys together would be pretty fun together. They'll probably a good time before before you beat the crap out

of each other. Hey, I'm not a fighter, man, that's right, you're not. You're a lover, aren't you. Yes, I loaded up in the desert. Hey, you gotta take it, man, need Steve. Yes, I know, fifty bucks, I got you. That's funny, it's funny. I didn't. Is it Brian who called Brian? Is it Brian who called? Yeah? It was Brian. And I don't even know Brian. I've never met Brian. Is Brian who loved your book

and told everybody to go buy it. But it's a good buck and like I said, you know, well, you know, only one only one complaint, one bad review, which was how come I didn't have more chapters? Yeah, because he was twenty five chops for twenty five years, he coach, I couldn't in the publishers. He wanted twenty five. It gives it some some sense of order, right, But no, I thought that, you know, that was good. You know, you know, I

actually have your book in my office. It's it set it on the table where my my office television is. And it's funny because my grandson, who is now he crawls and now he stands up. He's eating the pages. Well no, he but every time he comes over he pulls the book off the table. He just kind of grabs it and flips it and the and the cover comes off of it and the whole bit. He doesn't he can't

read it. He doesn't read it. But for some I don't know, if Luke he gets there and the photo of Luke catches his attention, but he just got to think where every I know, when he's been over the house because the book is on the floor in front of the TV. Makes sense. So I googled the most sinful places in the country. Uh, what's number one? I think it's obvious Vegas, Vegas number one, number two New York. No, I'm gonna go to l A. Houston.

Use it's like it's like one. Well, it's like one of the club I would have gone, or I would have gone Miami, like South each and all that night in Miami's nice. Guess where Phoenix is. That's gonna be pretty high four. Phoenix's ranked sixth for lust. That's kind of how they're based on this thing I heard like MARKILLPA County was like the number one place where divorced. Wow, because there's so many new people there. There's

so many. It's so big. Now, I mean, come on, almost last time you try to go drive through Phoenix me all the time? Oh do you Yeah, you'll be there, So it's just a concrete jungle, it is. No. Phoenix is definitely one of those cities where all the roads are seemingly huge in like four lanes and like all the left turns and they don't flow unless you're there at midnight. No, not at all.

Yeah, that was. That's a fun little list. I'd be surprised that I try to get I only hit the top ten among them, but it doesn't go after that because I want to see which ones are from New Mexicano. I want to know what the least sinful city is. What's the most wholesome city you can live in in America? You think this is from the Desert News and they go to one seventy nine Madison, Wisconsin. No, no, no, no, Pearl City, Hawaii. Wow, that

makes sense, you know on the island Bridgeport, Connecticut. When eighty yes, Loretto, Texas on three. You have to try to get the whole list. I'm curious what I'm missing in New Mexico. I don't know. But you know, if you go back, it's it's gonna just like the number is gonna keep going up, right, Yeah, you know, just it's just what I mean, would be Albuquerque, Santa Fe. What you know, what's up there? You have to be Albuquerque, John John Jon

Yes, well yeah, well I'm sure two sons in there somewhere. It's gonna hear it's it's I mean, it's not going to be like Demian or something like that. No hat where the Chileans exactly exactly, So all right, we got about four minutes left. There is a women's basketball game tonight. You see San Diego Arizona is what well they got? They just lost recently and lost badly to U n l V. They haven't been home and forever who the women's basketball. Yeah, it's been like a really long time

that since they've been since they've been back here. But then they've got Texas next week, which should be uh should we just call her a challenge Arizona an obstacle? Yeah, Arizona six and two. You see San Diego coming in and then they've got not to be confused with the University of San Diego and then Texas next week, and then they opened their conference play December seventeenth

at ASU. Gonzaga comes in here December twentieth. But I'm shouldn't see what they got the I know you guys saw they picked up a javelin thrower to be on the team. And Tommy talked about that because Bruce as because the girl, I don't know her name, she's comes from the same place that Tommy Lloyd has come from. So yeah, so do you have a connection to her. Says, well, I guess he knows her parents but doesn't really know her. Yeah. Interesting, they come from Kelsoe, Washington,

So he says, she'll do fine. She's from kelso It's a small world anymore Bruce today, Yeah, a little bit, because you know how Bruce asks those questions is can you get to compare the Wisconsin how they play and how you play? There you go Bruce trying to convict Nike those compare and contrast stories. And that's how it started. That's how I started. It wasn't that bad today though I asked him. I asked him, But I

don't know if it's a good question or whatever. But if he goes into games, like watching games when he's not doesn't have his coaching hat on, goes in to watch games and just watches him as a fan, He says, well, no, because you always have your coaching hat on. But it's basketball games are always on. He says. My wife tells me we

just watched basketball games all the time at nighttime. So you know, they either cooking dinner or whatever, there's a game on, there's doing late night, there's a game on, And he says, I coaching is about stealing, stealing ideas, and that's what he does. And a lot of good coaches do different things, and he tries to interesting and do that. So it's in there. I'm gonna probably do a story. Well you know, well, well i'll download the press conference audio we go to tomorrow, play

some clips to the day before the game. It'll give us you know, yeah, because we're gonna want to talk about the Wisconsin game coming up. So maybe get a couple of guests who can who can speak to that. Go get Nick Johnson, see what he thinks, Nick Johnson or Nick Yeah, Nick, God, we're not close to that group though. No, we've had Nick Johnson on. Yeah, we did happen. He was one

of our first guests years ago. But but the funny thing, Jay, and you know this, we weren't able to get close to those guys. TJ maybe maybe the only one right, didn't really have a relationship with those guys because here we were not allowed. Yeah, yeah, well I mean we yeah, I mean we still talk to you know, I talked to Shanelle it the other day, Right, you talk to him, You talk to all those guys, you know, So it treminds we got to get

Steve Kerr on. He said he would do it during the season. Okay, here we go, albut Guirque ranked eightieth most simple country in the nation county and then Los Crucis landed at one three. It's not bad. Yeah, No, that doesn't mean. I mean that. There's a lot of cities they had, sure, sure, sure lost Crusius because it's a college down blah blah blah. Okay, all right, man, the end of a day, I got a head over to Michael got a women's basketball game

to cover. Good luck for you. You know, be interesting to see what kind of a crowd they get. And then the big one on on Saturday. But we'll be back tomorrow. We'll try and preview that Wisconsin game with with wherever we can get to do that with us, and we'll play some time to get cool guests for tomorrow. A cool guest, Yeah, so as opposed to the not cool one. Ya, you wouldn't get a right, I'm hoping he pulls it up. All right, sounds like good.

There's a big tease, right, Okay, thanks for being here. We'll be back tomorrow, so give us a shout. Listen to the podcast and uh follow us and love us and all that stuff, so we'll be back tomorrow
