Steve Rivera and Jakin Salez. They have their eye on the ball on two Sons Sports Stag Fox Sports fourteen fifty streaming live. I mean I heart radio arm. Hey, welcome back to Ari in the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, He's Jakens. Got a guy Jason with us. Got fourteen minutes and some breaking news. Arizona linebacker Justin Flow as the name GDP bud kis Award watch list whoa guys, I barely barely played. Mm hm, he's gonna be the key. They must have seen him

in the press conference without Yeah, did you see that he missed? He missed as he was the one of the guys himself that he missed. If you watch, you'll see it on Twitter. Is his thing. Yesterday with the guys, he was a little kind of how would you say, I mean, I don't know, different different. You know, you have to go watch that kinnect the guy. We saw it spring when he came in and kind of like, you know, look, you know, and I said, this is kind of kind of strange, but he was more strange

yesterday. Yeah, so yeah, listen to watch it. I'll have to go justin spears, but heat does a Stanford seaming. No, it's just an alter egos, alter ego, just you know how he kind of sees like like Ricky b Ricky or what kind of in the third person is yeah, yeah, go back there, he'll see it. Okay, I gotta

go see it, all right, all right. Phil Micholson, professional golfer that more than one billion dollars on football, baseball, and basketball over the past three decades, and even allegedly attempted to bet a place a four hundred thousand wager on Team USA in the twenty twelve Ryder Cup. Okay, we got to talk about this for a second. A billion dollars now again, he's got the money. But now, but somewhere in there, I think

it said didn't we say that? It said he he may have lost as much as one hundred billion of the billion betting a billion, he lost one hundred million dollars. He was like one hundred million dollars on the wrong side, which is which is an incredible number. And and I mean, if it's money and he gets to do whatever he wants and he's still very wealthy, right, but that, wow, is he or isn't he Well,

it's his money. You know. The thing is, you know this guy that's that's writing the book is the guy that he did is is gambling with ended up going to prison over a an insider trading deal that Michelson was a partnering. Well, this guy went to prison over that. So when I was writing this book and you know, there's gonna be, there's gonna people. First of all, Michelson hasn't commented about this, at least from what I've said anybody, and he might not butt you know, he pissed off

a guy that goes to prison. He knows stuff about you. He's gonna write stuff. Now, this is incredible stuff. I'm looking at the I'm looking at the note at at the the by the numbers thing. According to this is said, he bet so an even money bet is the minus one ten bet. Right, we bet that all the time minus You've got a bet one hundred ten dollars to win one hundred dollars, okay, one hundred, one thousand, one hundred and fifteen times he bet one hundred and ten

thousand dollars to win one hundred thousand dollars. How many times you do that one thousand, one hundred and fifteen times, that's one hundred million. So and then on eight hundred and fifty eight times he bet two to twenty to win two hundred, which is basically doubled the bet, but still basically even went bet. It said, the sum of those nineteen hundred and seventy three wagers, you know, the one tens and the two twenties, was three

hundred and eleven million dollars. On those bets in twenty eleven alone, he made thirty three thousand, one hundred and fifty four bets, which is an average of nearly nine bets per day. In one day in June. On June twenty second, twenty eleven, apparently this guy's got all these records, he made forty three bets on Major League baseball games and lost one hundred and forty three five hundred that day. It's either he's not really or whatever.

Said. He made a staggering seven thousand and sixty five wagers on football, basketball, and baseball. That was during this time that he was betting with this guy. So I'm crazy, crazy, crazy numbers now for us, for you, well, you don't have a wife, so for me, my wife ever gives me crap about putting, you know, twenty bucks on new games. Un I'm not Phil Mickelson. I mean, what do you

you know, what are you yelling me? Yelling at me about right, I'm gonna use that, you know, I fully intend to use that. There are some crazy numbers, and you know what, that's a problem. That's not that's not I've got the money to do this. That's a gambling problem. Don't you think if all this is true? Yeah? Yeah,

again, he's got the money. I don't know again does he? I mean, you know, people say, well that now I see why he took the live deal, right, and it's saying all this stuff and ripping the PGA tour because he had to get out of all this uh all this dead or whatever, who knows, but anyway makes people see him a little differently though. For sure said he wanted about four hundred thousand dollars on a Ryder cup that he was in and had and the guys that we're going better

with this guy. The guy said, I'm not taking that, and they he would have lost because they lost that, right, they lost that Ryder cup. So anyways, all right, opening nice schedule for the twenty twenty three twenty four NBS season opener is going to be on October twenty fourth. The team's playing in the open. It will be the loss and just Lakers versus the Denver Nuggets, so Western Conference Finals rematch and the Phoenix Suns versus

the Golden Cil Warriors. All right, pretty good game, Cooper October four. Yeah, Steve, they burning at the football scene started him. Yeah, ready for them already. The overlap and baseball will still be going on. Yeah, so I'll be all three sports will be going on at the same time. That's that's nuts that UNDI, what are you gonna do?

Uh? The Colts are starting their fourth overall pick, a quarterback Anthony Richardson over a Gardner Minshew, for their Week one preseason opener overage to the Bills on Saturday. Well, you draft a guy in the first round, you're expect him to play, right, m Yeah, you do them, So he's gonna be He's gonna be interesting to see because there are people said that he had hadn't played enough to prove that he should have been a first round

pick. Yeah, but from where I've heard in camp, he's been looking really good. So, well, he's got a rocket arm. But yeah, we all know, we've talked about that a million times in year. What's the point of having a rocket over you can't hit your target? I'm pretty true, all right. Some more NFL news. The number two overall picks J Stroud makes his NFL preseason debut today against the Patriots. So the game actually just started like right now, So see how he does. And

I forgot that. I forgot that quarterbacks went one and two. Yeah, and Anthony Richardson was what pick four, the number four, so one, two and four, yep, I don't remember that in the draft. Who's three? I think it was like a defensive yeah, I think probably defensive linemans. Yeah, yep. Okay. The ESPN is nearing a deal to add X Warrior GM. Bob Myers to NBA coverage said that again, ESPN is nearing a deal to add X Warriors GM Warriors. Yeah, Bob Myers

to cover NBA. Oh really to be one of those yeah experts, that makes sense. It's funny though. It's funny, Jay, it's funny. It's not the right word. But I don't know if I've I've been gone through this, but uh, and I maybe you have. He's been let a lot of people go for a lot of money they're paying them. Now they're bringing up people who I don't know how much we're paying them, but

they let them go for a reason. Now they're bringing back some people a different right, different level of people, different levels, Steve, it's the old thing, man, We're gonna get rid of you because you make too much money, so we can bring in this guy and don't know you no, no, I know, I get it. And they they lost a lot of good talent but they didn't care. But they're bringing back people who

kind of feel the roles. But you know what the thing is, guys like you, me, Jason. The fact that they got rid of Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy on the NBA games is gonna isn't gonna stop us from watching it, of course, of course. And they know that, of course not, because the product, the product is, you know, is what's on the port right right right, And people say, well, these guys aren't as good as these guys, but you're still here to watch,

right. Well, it's kinda like Bill Wolman. It's like Bill woman. Oh, I don't like what guess what, You're still gonna watch. You are gonna watch And people say, oh, I turn it off whenever he's on you liar, No, no, they some dude, but he might turn the ball from down some but they still watch, They still watch.

You're absolutely right, absolutely right? All right? Uh, the NFL plus streaming out is going to be offering the ability to watch NFL Network and nf A red zone, so they're adding red zone, red zone to that. But you can't watch. You still can't watch games because those are gonna be on on Sunday Sunday Ticket, which is gonna be on YouTube TV,

which is very expensive. How much is it like three four hundred, four hundred and fifty bucks for the season, And unfortunately for me, and you know, I'll claim ignorance on this, when I was gravy training off my daughter because they had a student a student rate and you could only stream it, but you know it was it was Sunday ticket, NFL Sunday ticket, so we got to call it Sunday ticket on the phone right now, you explaining to do all right? All right, that's all they're breaking his eye

for today. Okay, I can't after I keep going back to this thing with film Michals and I mean, I just find it again. None of my business, right, none of my business, the dude, but this is amazing well and and the thing is most of this betting was done before

it was legal to bet here, wasn't it. No? Yeah, no, because he's been doing it all this time, Because we're talking about talking about according to the story, he met this guy in two thousand and six, hooked up with him in two thousand and eight, and that's when he started betting this kind of money. Yeah, well it's probably you know, go to got go between. You know, one of the things I haven't seen in the in the news, and I've been trying to find it,

and maybe I'm just not good at it. Uh. The the Maui Classic and the building, Well did the building burn And that's why I'm trying to find out because that's that's that is one of the worst things you could you've ever seen. Yeah, I mean a whole the whole city burned down, pretty much. It's yeah, I'm sure you have you been there. I've

been I've been there. I went to five Maui Classics, and I'm wondering is this the thing gonna stand, so gonna be able to go it looked back well, early on I did see a tweet from the Maui classic tweeter what do they say? That just said we're keeping an eye on what's pointing on here, But it didn't say how long ago? A couple of days ago. Okay, so maybe we'll find that. I'm sure they have a because because that's huge for for that community. Yeah, but I've got the

pictures of that devastating. How the hell does that happen? Devastating in this time with the technology, the the the equipment, sure that everything that that that's available water around you know, you know, to hear the people were jumping into the ocean to get away from the fin and just man, I you know, you just go, hi, you know, how does this happen in this day and age? Right? And it's just a small community, fantastic community obviously, huh. And I'm trying to figure out or find

it. Where are you looking it up? Yeah, I'm trying to I'm not I'm not I'm not finding anything. But uh, oh god, it's just I'm I'm I'm I'm sitting here a stoundard at the pictures that that that that I see, Like you know, like when the when you know the Catlana Mountains burned down, you know, you thought you can't stop this, how do you stop this? Well, and then you see it, Well you've been here all your life and you see I can't believe this is happening.

Yeah, it's just oh man, I'm just I'm just gonna get into the pictures. Mick Fleetwood's restaurant burned down. I mean a lot of stuff burned down. But man, there's a there's a helicopter shot at the whole the whole city isn't smoke. It's just crazy that that this, that this could happen. I it's very sad. I haven't heard anything about, uh, if there's a you know, if there's some some deaths related to this

or not. I mean I can't imagine that there aren't. When you think of the destruction, thirty six people have done, thirty six sixty six years of yesterday and thirty six totals. Now yeah, just uh not that I don't see anything that's saying whether or not. And you know what, that's the last thing you're gonna worry about as well. Can we still have our basketball tournament. You know, you got you got so many lives that are

are wrecked by this. Yeah, I went. I went there a lot of years ago with a bunch of guys to go play golf for a week. And uh and we went over to Kappeloua. But we went, you know, went to dinner and the bars and stuff like that. In the hind and yeah, no, I've been to five I've been to five Milton classes. It's just a gym. It's just i haven't been there a long time, so I'm sure they refurbished it, but it was just a gym. Here. It is the Civic Center. Somebody somebody behind the Civic Center,

Higher on the aar and on the ball. Well, I hate to like, you know now, in hindsight, it's such because the Pac twelve, you know, it is what it is. And I don't really called to elaborate on that a little bit because I'm so heartbroken from it. But Jay,

it was one of the best tricks to get Sunday ticket for free. Since they didn't carry the pac Twall Matt network. I was call the retention department every day year. The TV would never pick up the Pactwall network, and I would swindle. You know the thing that the thing that fed me really killed me at the end. And I hate it because of the Larry Scott and all that. I just yeah, and I'll get Sunday ticket for free

because that's that's the way I would leverage. Okay, year, and I know it this is old news and everything, but bro, I'm heartbroken from a people to My childhood is gone and it's going forward. Why this is High on the Wall with Steve Rivera and Jacob Salas on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to on the ball here Fox Sports fourteen fifteen times

Steve Riverai's Jacob's Austin. We're waiting for Pete and there he is probably no, Pete's a shoe, Yes, sir, Pete. How you doing. I'm good you we're doing fine. Thank you. I'm sure you're interestedly waiting to come down to Tucson in a couple of weeks and came wait and we have a great at the time as you as you go home. Yeah,

yeah, you're one of the highlights. Hey, before we get to all that, let's talk about something you were part of for a number of years, a couple of years at least, the PAC twelve Pack ten at the time. What are your thoughts about disbanding? Uh, even though it's really uh, it's really better. Sweet. You know, I've been a fan of a Pack eight ever since nineteen seventy one, and honestly, by the

time I was ten, I kid you not. By the time I was ten, I can name every starter on all the teams in the conference. That's how much I was in. And then I became aware of the u of it. You know what they joined Joe Nels or Russell Russell H Brown, Russell Brown, Brain, f Russell Brown. I'm delebrated. They're afraid of Fox. You know. They came on my racar once they joined. So it's just it's starting in the sense of a composite with great hears.

They're just imploded like this when there was no reason for it. You know, if the proper leaders, what's their business? Yeah, hey, your your phone is breaking up. Just a Scotia of pizza if you can. I know you're standing in a bad place and what but you know, thinking back to that, you know you you know you so you were aware of all this when Arizona and as you joined the conference and then you became a

part of it. You know how much of what you knew about the you had to do with the fact that you wanted to play in the league and you know, went to Arizona and all that stuff. Well, you know, I hope to think to break up, am I coming to clearly? Yeah, it's kind of choppy. I'm trying to move rooms and see it is that of my uh a little a lot of strong of the room. Let's see, it's different. You know, it's me and not you guys.

Yeah, you never know what I was going to say. I can empathize with like a lot of these these players and non revenue sports as far as you know, their parents because they choose schools because of the access of

their parents being able to see them play. And for me, what was really important for me was not only playing in the major conference, but being able to come home the Southern cow where you know, it was guaranteed my folks and family and friends will be able to see me play twice a year, and then the access of getting the two side was so that played a

big deal in is well. So I have a lot of empathy for these people, particularly, you know, because usc Ust later one is gonna be traveling all the way to the East coast and we may have our same things going out to Central Florida or whatever. So it's a tough deal all around. Well, it impacts you a little bit because you're a fan. You go to the games in La in that area, southern California and in Vegas, and so oh man, it didn't It didn't passed me big time.

I'm pissed off about that. Man's true. But uh, and I'm already plotting. Okay, once this moved to the big twelve starts in twenty five, you know what role games am I going to go through TCU as a musk because that was my first recruiting ship actually, and one of my best friends, you know, he's alumni of TCUs and TCU as a musk.

But it's not the same as going to UCLA, u SC or you know even as U well SU always be right or the Bay Area, you know, uh, going to see the fellas and and all that right, I'm I'm I'm guessing that I'm guessing up in ten p You're not a very welcome guy over there either you were either you, either you or Eddie smith Hey. But you know what, I love it though, you know, I still you know what, I still get treated with respect there. But it's

all good nature stuff. The little little uh, the little burger joined across me as us campus. How I'm having a break fees all of a sudden, man, your aging aging, Pete, your age. That could be honest, that could be honest because we're contagious. Yeah, I love that place. In the beginning. You know, it was a little hot down in a minute, but it ain't treated with great respect and we just have a little good nature bands are going on back and forth. Did you were

your u a stuff there? Of course, I'm I'm bewhere man. So you were talking about starting to talking about a little bit. But you know, regardless of you know, we're moved on right the conferences. You know, we're out of the conference. The Pact twelve is gone, so now you got a big twelve basketball conference that adds Arizona adds uh. You know you talk Colorado on the SHU. But really the big addition is Arizona to

a conference that's already widely considered the best in the country. How much fun are you gonna have with that? You know what? It is going to be an amazing conference. You know, I was just sitting back and I was thinking, you know, as far as you have a in the Pac twelve, what we've led the conference in attendance for I believe thirty eighth straight years. Now, well that's going to change now because everybody attends game out

there in that conference. So it's gonna be some fantastic basketball, and those road games are going to be something else. So I know you weren't part of a team here that won the Pac twelve Pac ten titles at the time, but you were, you know, the year before you had a chance.

But how do you and you weren't around when they did win it, I think in eighty six, eighty five, eighty six, How do you think if Arizona pulls off a championship in the Big twelve, how do you think will feel us different and we will feel the same kind of taking over the conference? Well, no, well it's never going to be a takeover as long as you got Kansas in there, and in much respect to Baylor, it's just so strong. But Arizona is gonna be I I was looking

looking at something earlier day. I think on Twitter that Michael Luke and share together as far as peers of the program, and I think they did a great job. Kansas, they deserve to be headed as what everybody else, But Arizona is not far behind. Man, We're really not. So we're just as capable of winning a title that league as anyone. And I love what you know Tommy's done with this year's team as far as recruiting, and it's only going to get better. So I'm not going to be shocked.

A matter of fact, I'm I'm expecting it. You know. That's how That's how great I think our program is. Yeah, I mean when you think about it too, because we mentioned this the other day. You know, in this depending on how the scheduling falls in the first season, you know, we Arizona could have Duke and Kansas you know at home, you know, in the same season. I mean, you want to talk about something that the uh, the Arizona fans have been waiting for for a really

long time. Buckle up because it's going to be an incredible ride, absolutely, and I can't wait to see where are they going to do? Are they're going to separate the conferences between divisions and you know who's in our division and you know if we played them twice another division once. I can't wait for all that stuff to play out. Makes you want to be back on the team, well, it makes you got to be back on the team regardless of where we was at. What with the jack the leg of mine,

we can get about that. Well you ask, yeah, well, how how how are things going with that, Pete, because we do want to know. Well, you know, I'm pretty much in the same situation. You know, my bones are fine. I'm just I'm just having nervous issues and those don't seem to want to go away, and there's going to be generated their own pace if they decide to. So I'm going to off work order. I'm doing fine, you know, physically fit with the steps of the leg. But I'm doing fine. It's been a while, it's

been a twenty months, it's been a year. It's been a year in about three months. Oh wow, man, that's to go. But I know I still think I still think you can dunk on either one of us, so you don't have to think it's done. It would be a straight vertical. I'm not taking off of one leg anymore. It would be a straight vertical. Though. Pete with with what's happened though, and I mean,

I'm presuming that you're an overall sports fan. You know, yes, you love the basketball, but you probably you know, you do football and all that. Are you? What do you think of everything that's happening with with college athletics and the way it's I mean, I think we thought there was gonna be some consolidation down the road, but it happened really fast. Everything that's just going on, realignment, nil, transfer portal, all that

stuff. I know we've had nil and transfer portal conversations before, but now you throw this in and it's another big thing that's happened. I mean, is it is it getting distasteful to you or you're just rolling with it? How are you taking it? Oh? Absolutely absolutely distasteful? But hey, what it is? I wish and I know if I heard some other people talk about this, you know, supports meat or whatever and this is off

with driven TV, driven money or whatever. You know, unfortunately everybody else, all the other programs, basketball and then not governy programs, we got to fall into the same umbrellas over that. Why don't they just make independent on all the football teams and let everybody else stay in remaining conferences or whatever may sound too simple, whatever, I don't know. I've just think it's unfair where all these other fools have to abandon traditional conferences, the rivalries,

the goal under the umbrella of all this TV and football money. It's ridiculous to me, right right, And I think that part of you is because you're older. You know, we're both are all older, and we're used to the tradition, and the young kids today are just saying, no, let's move on and get the money and go right right, Yeah, yeah, if we want to, Yeah, okay. And you'll be here in a couple of weeks for the lud Olson Cabmen going after a New York titles.

Two weeks from today, Oh that's right, two weeks from today. You'll be back in town ringing the show. Are you guys already talking smack to each other? No, not yet, but you know, I'm gonna fly in the Phoenix and I'm at to wait around because I'm picking up Eddie Smith, Joe Turner and Craig McMillan and Phoenix and then we're dripping down the tuth side. And let me tell you what, I don't care what traffic

we may hit. It's gonna be worth to drive because once the three of those characters get in the car with me, is gonna be NonStop comedy from the time you get the Phoenix two side. So I'm looking forward to. But what do you do when you come here, Pete? Because you know it was a long time because that you lived here. But you know what restaurants do you go to? Where do you hang you know? Do you have a do you have bars? You go to? What? You know?

Where can we find Pete Williams when you're hanging out? There's uh uh? What's the place over there on Grant? One of my little favorite uh on Grant? Uh a restaurant or bar? What just had it? Fisher? Oh? A Constant street for uh uh? You guys having it too, you know, we having every day you listen, Culinary dropout, Culinary drop out. Here you go, Culinary drop out is one of the spots. And then anything over there on university. So I got something. I

got one of your booster buddies. You So, what happened to Pete's leg one and two? How old is Pete? Now? How old? Yeah? I just said sixty two days, two weeks ago. Sixty, Pete. Come on, now, that makes me feel old. Man. Come on, that's incredible, man, incredible. You're steal in the shape that you're man. Hey, you got a young spirit to me? Man, Well, we do too. We just don't remember how young we are. Well remember, but my memory is because I can't remember the places I hang

out. Yeah, okay, well, thanks so much. We'll see you soon then, Hey, Pete, thank you man as always, Petz one of the great guys, one of the great guys. You can't even think of a dang restaurant, you know, I mean, what the heck? Steve, No, he's sixty, Steve, I know, I know the six oh finished, eighty five finished. He had two years, two years, may, four years time. I'm sure your youngest is what twenty one? Your oldest thirty? Come on? How fast? Had happened? Very

fast? Very fast? You know it's funny because you know we're going to the going to the ball game, last night, and I on a Facebook memory today today showed a game that we went to a game a few years ago, and I matched it up with a picture of the first time I took Adam to Dodger Stayed. He would have been he would have been about

three or four, maybe three. And and looking at that picture of me with my son as a not an infant but a toddler, and then now we're with his kid at a ball game, and it just all kinds of goose bumps from that, from that last night, which is very cool. A kid had no idea where he was, he was, he was looking around, he was having fun, but it was it was crazy. There'll be plenty of pictures. It was a weird day, a good day yesterday

in baseball except except for a couple of games. But the guy who threw a new no hitter, a no hitter in Philadelphia, he threw a no hitter. And then in that same game, a guy who had played in the minors for like twelve years got his first at bat and he hit a home run. I saw and his family was in the stands and his dad was crying in this Yeah, can you imagine he'd be going crazy is when

we've had him on the sand, I'd be bawling. If you know, if I my son played in the you know, first major league game, and he'd been in the miners all that time, I'd be balling anytime I kid hit a homer in the Major League, but I'd be balling just to the kid got to the major late, of course, But that's that's uh, that's very cool. I did see something on that one that this guy had been in the in the miners all this time, got in a bat and went yard. Yeah. Did you also see that we didn't mention the

chiefs for Jeane Smith is going to retire. He's retiring after this year. Yeah, he's out of here. And again these guys come in, they break everything up, and then they go somewhere. So what they have? What are you gonna do? All right? Should we take our break? Yeah, let's go break last break of the day. I heard you did not win the billion and I did not win the the billion and a half.

No, we didn't hit the We didn't hit that. We have a little a little body mine that gets tickets and we split him a little superstitious thing he was at he went to get his tickets, and the the got the catcher said, hey, here, there's three tickets here that this guy changed his mind on, decided he didn't want him. But those are the winners. Didn't win though. Dang it all right, let's take our break. We'll be back last last segment, and we'll take your costs five to

Gotta got Jason Year for fifteen more minutes. If you want to give us a quick call, give us a call by two O four six seventy four forty.

I'd love to hear from you. Yep, oh I had something, Steve, and I fact shoot, I forgot oh Iowa State football. Yeah. Man, they've now up to eleven players who've been betting on sports and betting on their own team. Okay, And then the funny part is this one and these guys are getting charged with a crime because they're getting charged with betting under somebody else's account account or ID, and so they're getting charged with

it a crime called tampering with records because they're they're betting. But you know, one guy was using his moms and you know, had his mom's name and stuff. So but I'll just read this paragraph. It's from a story in Sports Illustrated. One of the players, the defensive tackle Isaiah Lee, was accused of placing twenty six different rate wagers on twelve separate Cyclones football games.

One of the games he allegedly bet on was the twenty twenty one matchup between Iowa State and Texas that he played in, but Lee bet on the Longhorns to win. He finished the game with just one tackle and the Cyclones one thirty seven, so he bet against his own team and then they won. So did he feel bad or good about about the game? About it? Yeah? Did you feel bad about the probably bad? Do you feel bad about the loss or do you feel good about the fact that or the

losing the bad? Or do you feel good about winning the game? Which one was a bigger deal to him? This is this is and you know, there's all these people saying, well, we knew this was gonna happen. You're right, we knew this was gonna happen. But this is on the people, on the guys who are doing it. It's not about the fact that gambling is available. It's about the fact that these guys know the rules and choose to break the rules. I love a call. All right,

let's take it light on the air and I on the ball. Yeah, this is Nico man, what's up? Nico? Hey man. I had a couple of days to process this big Twilve movie. Okay, I still don't like it, but I get it. Why don't you like it? Now? I wanted the Pack twelve to stay around. I grew up with the Pack twel Well, yeah, and I think that's what a lot of people are saying right. They wanted to packed off to survive. It didn't. So I'm okay with what what happened. I mean, is that

kind of where you're at? Yeah, and that this gives me a chance to check out the new cheerleaders that come to town. We're just gonna say, Nico, you're probably a guy who doesn't like change. And I'm thinking that's not true because you changed girlfriends all the time. That's true. I'm bragging at the break up with this one girlfriend. I hope she doesn't listen. You just got this girlfriend. I hope she's not listening to you. She knows. Hey, man, I thought I could be a vanilla ice

cream guy. Okay, Cassanova, you probably elactose, intolerant man. You know he is Nico, He's he's he's living vicariously through you. To be twenty years a year for sure, he wouldn't be the first one. Alright, dude, thank you, man, I hear, Okay, go, I still think he's all use car salesman, but I like him. Okay, Okay, why do you what do you mean by that? In what way? Is he used car salesman? Because he'll tell you what you want to hear? Man, he could like try to sell me a beat up

Honda Civic with like three wheels, and I'd probably buy it. Yeah, okay, okay, okay, I get it and say, if your cash make your credit sure is good. But hey, mans, I guess he what he's saying. But you know, I think, look, Jim has done a great job. He doesn't talk, he doesn't talk or sound like a typical coach. No, no, right, he sounds like she's great. Right. He sounds like he's a different he's a different cat. Who just does you know? He's going through this thing differently than anybody else.

And but that's what's making it work for him, I think, I mean, I think that's why it seems to be working, because he's not going about it the way everybody else is going about it, because the guy's got a different, different experience. Let me also ask you this, Okay, so we know what we saw the last previous three years before Jed got here.

Is he kind of still living off that because he's you couldn't be being worse than the guy before, right, So now he's doing what he does and people are saying, Okay, at least we've moved on from that, and he's he's benefiting from what was the way not to do things. Yeah, yeah, I guess, but I don't I don't look. I don't think you get anything from the way Kevin Sumlin did things here. There's nothing you're not gonna say because nobody else was ever gonna do what he did,

right, So you don't even look at that. What what what he would have had to look at was can I go there with this plan that I have and win football games? And he obviously thought he could and and that's kind of what he's doing. So I don't think there's anything you get from that. You glean from the way someone did things here. He didn't look at that because if he would have looked at that and said, there's no way you can win here, because he couldn't win there there, excuse me,

you're working to do that? It was just so bad. It was also bad. So uh, I think it's more about you know, he he I mean, he was going to take this opportunity to where wherever he could get this opportunity, right if you got an Arizona Arizona state, uh, you know you and LV wherever, because he had a way that he was going to come and do this, and so he's doing it that way and it's so far working for him. Okay, you know, and he's doing well. Wow, so far, so far, well, you know,

again, remains to be seen. I think, you know, I think what you hear from people is that when I say people, I mean like the media that we follow and listen to, he's got their attention. You know. People are saying there's there might be something going on down at uh down down in Arizona. Let's keep an eye on it. Nobody's saying or Arizona is gonna contend for the oh yeah, yeah, but they're saying

there's something going on. Who. Also, I think that he's a he's a good dude, and he has a lot of a lot of friends in the media, that that he hasn't pissed off yet doesn't make sense. No, no, no, they love Sean. Yeah, until they didn't, until they didn't. Yeah, No, you're you're right, you're right. No, I think, yeah, I think I think that's a piece of it. Excuse me, I believe that, you know, I guess I guess the way to put it is that there that you know, if you're

paying attention to what he's doing and how he's doing it. What's not to like? Right, you know, what's not to like? And so I think that I think it's more it's more like that that there as you say that, he hasn't done anything to piss everybody off. No, and if you win at least to some degree compared to what it was before, you're

gonna be okay. Yeah, because this this town. Come on, if you win seven, eight, nine games, eventually they'll get tired of winning seven eight the running games because they want to win it all, especially if you tease them, right, especially if you tease them and you win nine games? Going on, come on, we're clothes were closes? Well? Come on? What was the year they went to Penn State? Year ninety ninety nine? How how question was that? Very and there were you were

he was dangling a lot of stuff. Yeah, like you guys are gonna be really really good, extremely crushing, Yeah, and then that happened, like extremely crushing, Steve. I'm still crushed by it. That whole season. You know, that season I went on the booster trip to Oregon State and we haven't got sideline passed. Is rich Tomy got a sideline pass on. My wife and I were on the sidelines for the game Comedy games in it was the last It was the Organ Steak game was the last game before

the SU game in the fog. It was already bad year, and they got beat and we got taunted by We had to sit there and get taunted by Organ Steak fans, and I'm like, I want to you guys, give me the keys. You guys have not been winning that long to be to be taunting us. I mean, we're not you know, we're not in Notre Dame. But we've been better than you up until now, you know, because that was when they first got good with UH, with Dennis Errickson and stuff. And I'm like, shut the hell up, But you

know, what can you do. You're losing. They're kicking your ass and there was nothing you could do about it. And I hated that, and that that sticks in my in my cross about that season, you know. And then when you know, after the fact, I talked to Dick and asked him, you know what happened. He is, we didn't do the work. We didn't do the work in the off season that we needed.

They thought too much of themselves yeah, well and he said, he said, and we got hitting them out the Penn State and we never even cover that. That that was That was that the week the the SI cover,

no, no, the SI cover was ninety three, ninety four. They were good, they went, they went eight and three, but then they went and lost to Utah and in the Freedom Bowl that year, now was again another game they they were in, they were in the running for the league, went to USC and got smacked by a USC team that should't have smacked them, and that that killed But isn't that It was on a football. That's a was on a football in a nutshell, in a nutshell,

expect the unexpected. You know. There was a picture of somebody somebody around a photo and I don't remember why, of a Chuck cecil. After they got beat in eighty six up at up at h up at uh Ucla. They were winning big, twenty four to six or something like that and then got beat And that game, even if all the other results would have stayed the same, Arizona would have gone to the World Bowl that year, would have could have shut out. And your dad was a left. Yeah,

it was nineteen eighty six and I was at that game. We went to that. We went to that road trip and watched it all fall apart. We were we were on the on the ninety ninety three road trip where they lost to cal On, you know, on the on that interception returned for a touchdown the end. They lose that game and that keep him out of the Rose Bowl. We went to it. We saw a lot of those

Steve, I'm hurting now, man, I'm hurting. Well, this is your last if they there's no Rose Bowl this year, even if a miracle happened. Right, Yeah, the Rose bowls a playoff, the playoff game so you can get to the playoff and get it. You got a violin in your pocket, violin in your pocket as you're bringing up and play it, and even a little one. I don't unfortunately. Yeah, growing up okay, you grew up in Phoenix, right, Yeah? Were you an as fan? Oh? No? Was it not? Not at all?

I didn't care about them at all, No I did. I didn't care about the Cardinal's sons. Why not? I don't know. I just I mean, they were never good. You were a sports fan, Yeah, I was sports fan. I just wasn't. He wanted to be a doctor, Come on, but I know, but still, I mean, like I said, I've never really been a fan of You've never even that, you've never followed the team? No, not really no, because my my dad especially, he doesn't like watch American like basketball, for he was like

soccer, no tennis, But he doesn't really watch sports like that. What's what's wrong with your dad? He works sports, that's good, Yeah, it works a lot, doesn't have time watch sport, so he's not He's not like a football, baseball, basketball, No, not really. I mean now kind of but not really. No. So I kind of grew up I played sports like everything now, I watched everything, but I never

had a team that I rooted for religiously like most people did. So you city follow players, yeah, giving some players that were big for you for like we're sport, any sport. I'm just your favorite, your favorite player, any sport that that that you love. I don't know. I guess like Kobe Kobe lebron Kyrie Kerry, who about football? Football? Let's see, I couldn't even tell you football. Yeah, I don't know, he's a general. I don't know. There's so many players that I mean,

I don't know on top of my head right now. It couldn't be like Jerry right Smith, I was tooled around, but I don't know, just different guys that I just watched. Oh, this guy's pretty good, and you know it probably does baseball. No, not baseball. No. Yeah, but baseball fans are lost art. It's a lost art. Well, I think I think as as as as Jason said, baseball fans are fans of players. I mean, I'm a I'm a Dodger fan, but I'm an old school guy. My son's a Dodger fan, but he knows all

the players. Yeah, and not just Dodger players. He you know, we do this this immaculate grid thing. Dad, How did you not know that? Guy? I'm like, I don't even know who you're talking about. Yeah, no, no, no, let me take something, Adam. Time will come as his kid gets older. Yeah, you don't care about sports as much. Worried about your kid and your family and blah blah blah. Eventually, at some point in your life there was a time in transition you say, you know, I don't care anymore. I gotta go

to a soccer game. And that's and that's really kind of where I lost as much as I'm a Dodger fan. Now I kind of lost a lot of that because time life happens. Life, life happens. And you said, when I was a kid, I knew about all the stats, and then I just realized, no, what, what's a purpose? Purpose? And then I got into the business, and now you know if I'm a fan of sports but not of sports. Yeah, Who's who do we have

on the TV on the show this week? Who said exactly that I'm a sports guy, but I'm not really a sports can You laughed, and you looked at me, and I said, exactly, what do you say? Who was it? Sports editor at the Star? And it sounds funny, but it's true. It's true, it's true. And I see how that has happened over the years. I see And do you mean for you too, because you're not as involved as you used to be? Right? And your buddy's probably too. I mean again, you know, people ask me

who's your favorite NFL team? I say the team that I got money. Wait, you gonna call it Nicholson? Who is talking about me? Yea? This week? It's the nine years all right? That was fun. Pete Williams, thank you for being here Jack, but we're going to talk to you again. We appreciate your your stuff, and we'll be back tomorrow. I'm trying to truck someone. We'll see who we got for you, So be sure to come back tomorrow
