This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Subscribe now to the podcast on the iHeart Radio while just surgery. I on the Ball. Hey, welcome back to Why on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. From Steve, He's Jay got a boy Noah and said, giving us some breaking news. Girl says, I on the ball breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. We've mentioned Lamar Jackson yet, said yeah, we did, we did earlier. Yeah, yeah,

yeah, Okay, that's just like one of many things. First of all, Arizona newsu Arizona man tennis player Jonas Everts won the Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the ABI. Very cool award for him. Um, you know he's our top player but also a scholar. Which are there's four of us in here, any of us scholars? Are you a scholar? I think no, is he's maybe he's like he isn't he

in the brain people area? I would say so if you listen to the honors program, Oh that's right, during the honors ye, your parents? What about you said? Would we call you a scholar. Yes, oh he's a four. Oh man, Steve, we're the dumbest guys in the room. As Charles Barkley said, I have a four point zero one point

zero one point one point one point for four years. Okay, John blue Tarski, all right, Um, yes, Lamar's deal is the richest like in NFL history in terms of you know, yearly salary two sixty for five years. So it was um Jalen Hurts just a few weeks ago. And it's guaranteed as what again, if you had one hundred eighty five would you do? I put it on rede I'll need to advest. But like you, I don't know. I don't know how much you keep. You need

a financial advisors. I disappear, you wouldn't find me. It's where where did you go? Where would you go? Well I'm disappeared? Would you like, okay serious? Would you stay here? But yeah, of course yeah, I would stay here, but not tell anybody. You don't want to go like Hawaii or something, Well take a trip, but I'm not. Yeah, I'm not going well living like no, no, no, no, this is good enough. The thing about Lamar Jackson's contract, too, is he didn't have an agent. Yeah, yeah, it's all his

yeah, crazy crazy yeah. And then you know the situation with like Anthony Edwards in the chair, Yeah, like hit two people. So his his um the lawyer says that his his assault charges were baseless. So I mean it's just like, is there any video of it, any video, but it barely shows anything. It's like he doesn't even look like it hits them, but like gets near them, the kind of act like they got hit. Did they flop? Yeah, they like I don't even know if they

were touched. Like it's it's bad. They did like a nicole. It is what it is. Um, the Commanders have you don't declined the Chase Young's player option, so he might get traded. There's a chance he might get traded for the season starts. Well, you know that guy, he was really good. I still think he can't be really good. He hasn't really had like a chance to kind of show his potentially got hurt. But I play for the Commanders. It's just it's just an awful place to He's

like a freaking nature. I think he has a good chance to be one of the best defense players in the NFL. For like for years like he is. I just feel like he's a generational guy. So that's that the Arizona Cardinals might trade down from number three in the drafts. And there's also

a buzz around DeAndre Hopkins getting traded. I've heard Um Ravens well the Pro Football Talk just tweeted out that they're there, says hearing the Cardinals are trying to send number three overall and DeAndre Hopkins to the Titans for the number eleven pick and some more other stuff. It's just as a lot they're trying to package DeAndre Hopkins with that number three, so weird. I wonder how Arizona's coach is feeling. What do you just why are you getting rid of a

guy like that? I mean, Kyler Murray's becomes a much worse quarterback without DeAndre hop without Deandrew Hopkins, unless they're playing on going and getting some receivers or know where they can get receive I mean, that's gotta be I just I guess they think it's more worth it's to kind of go for some younger guys with him rather than I think it's kind of smart if you think about

there. They're taking advantage of trade stock at a time early in Kyler's career still but like at the same time, we don't know what's gonna happen. I guess part of it would depend on what they get for him, all right, And then the college football playoffs schedule has been like the expanded schedule format. We can actually sort of the format is what they've done. So

let me run through this because it's it's kind of important. So they've they've released what a twelve team bracket would look like, and they're saying that the first round games, which are almost like playing game because the first through four seeds get buys, so you got the five through twelve, I'll have to play first round games. So those games will be at the site of the

higher seed. Now they're talking about those games taking place in the third week of December, and then they're talking quarterfinal quarter final games where then the top seeds come in. They're gonna be played at the Sugar Bowl, the Festive Bowl, the Peach Bowl, and the Rose Bowl. And those would be on New Year's Even, New Year's Day or New Year's Day, New Year's Even, the day before New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, and the

day after. But they're trying to avoid with the quarterfinals. With the quarterfinal games is to not go up against the NFL at all play him during the week, and then the semi final games are definitely going to be during the week, probably Thursday in a Friday, because NFL playoffs are running on that weekend wild card games. So the two semifinal games will be the Orange Bowl and the Cotton Bowl, and then the championship game. They say it's gonna

be January twentieth in Atlanta that year. So college football season now it's going to extend to January twenty. That's a long way, man. That's a long sea season for somebody. Of course, if you're winning games and you're in the championship, I guess you're okay with that. Um, that's that's kind of like major So okay, Well, the big news will be later

today or later tonight. The draft starts here in an hour. I saw Javier did a pretty good story with the logan was really good being right, and you would know this because you know the history of the football local football. So Mike Dawson, Mike Dawson, um, some of the other guys, um um, Mike Dawson and um John Fina, we had him two days ago. Come on, uh you know yeah, Mike, Yeah, Mike Dawson. Uh, you know, great player at Arizona. Um played

you know a lot of years with the Cardinals. Um. You know a guy, a guy who was, you know, a great player out of Arizona, Mark Arnison. He wasn't from here, but he played with the Cardinals for a bunch of years. One of the one of Arizona's first top draft picks back in the seventies. He just passed away at seventy nine. You know, Paul Robinson, Cleo and Clear. Beijean's great uncle was a was a high draft pick in a Rookie of the Year with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Um, so, you know, but first round picks. Man, he could be the third one, and he could possibly be the highest. People have n't going anywhere. From from about seven to twenty seven, we had John and John's great a couple of smart, clever and all that stuff. He he overachieved, right because he was a skinny dude. Ye and he must he had made himself into that place self, I don't want to say self made, because he had a lot of people around him, but

he had that drive. Yeah, Bijean was just is just naturally given. He was born to be this sure sure right, and I think John Feena made himself into what he became a long time NFL player, first round draft pick. Bijean was going to be a first round NFL pick when he was six. We could I remember what it's five six years ago now I was. Since it's been a while now for Cadeen it's been almost ten, probably eight years at least he was twenty three. Team was his last year.

Yeah, so thirteen ten years ago. God, it's himself long. So yesterday where he was sixth round, I think it was in you're thinking he's better than that, right, Well, he led the league and rushing, uh, and he was fantastic and he's still obviously very good, very in shape. Uh. We try to get him on the show today. But do you think how good you have to be? Right to be? Bejean Robins, Yeah, right right to be? You know, I mean likely the first running back taken in the NFL draft. I mean you know who

you're growing up who thinks that. Let me say this to you, Jay, because we get an arguments every no that argument. This is not an argument. We talk about local kids, right, how how the previous coaching staff ignored or overlooked or whatever word you want to use, the Ransons and the the guys that left. Right, he was never gonna say. He

was never gonna say. Well, and and you know some people, some people make the argument, you know that you know those guys you know, uh Beijean Robinson, those they weren't going to Arizona and waste So why you waste your time recruiting? No, but you have to. You have to for this reason. Right, You can't say you can't. You can't. You can't just give in, Right, you have to go after him.

And if you don't get him, you don't get him. But to not go after him like you know, like you know, like Fiena's kid. Right. Um, you know I once asked Ali Farhang, who was a coach at South Point at the time. He said, why did all these south Point kids go somewhere else? He said, because Arizona wasn't first on any of them. Yeah, which makes no sense, It makes zero sense. You know, you see these guys in junior high. They should be on your radar. We talk to the kid yesterday, the Brian the Carter

writing guys. Arizona was first on him. Right, that's a last team impression exactly, whether whether he comes here or not or whatever. That's why Fiena's kid is that Ucla because Ucla was first, right, you know, Ohio State was first on on Lathan Ransom. You know, I mean that's you know, you make that impression and you know that whether you bid deal, you get him or not, have to do you know, I mean, Dick Tomy had to recruit Michael Bates had to recruit him. He ended

up getting him. But if he hadn't in Bates had gone somewhere else, people would have been all over deck. You know, you have to go after these guys. If they're you know, if they're five stars or whatever, and they're in your backyard and you're and you're not on their list, you know, then people, you know, then people think things about it. They think you're not a good recruiter. Whoever. Yeah, so so a day later, uh, like I said that the noise out in the

real world of Twitter and or non real world of Twitter and Facebook. Now, Tommy Lloyd, things have settled. He's still the same coach. He's going after the players. I think Arizona is going to be fine. And he's got two commits for twenty twenty four that you know, can you know, be the you know, the complexion of his team, you know that year. I think once the dust settles, it's still a while before the

dust settles, things will be okay. And we keep seeing, we keep seeing timelines that the twenty twenty two TI or the twenty twenty three two the team that just finished, that team get wasn't put together till the end of till the end of the summer. You know, when when Kylin Boswell reclassified, you know, uh Henderson and and uh and Ramy got it. You know, he got him in July. I mean, I just gotta think he knows what he's doing. He's got a sightset on some guys and he's

just gonna get the best guys that he thinks fit what he does. Because my father would say, you know what that means, said, yep, I got from Mexican house. So I hear that all time. Yeah, yeah, just calmed down, but a lot louder. I'm guessing most of all times will be okay. Don't worry about it. Yeah, just calmed down, man, Just calm down. So no, I I agree with you, Steve. I think you know, uh, I you know the only I just didn't want to hear the fans of Carter Bryant decided he's going

to love that. I remember the question I post me, is it worse if they don't get him? Then it is good that they do get him. They need Tommy needed to get him, just to just shut people up too, so that so that he could just go on and stop hearing the barking from the from the peanut gallery, right right, or at least a sent a silent science a little exactly, okay, exactly. So I'm looking forward to talking to Justin's we should you know, you know Justin Spears who

we've sort of been competitors. He's had his afternoon radio show over on ESPN Radio. Now he does it in the morning. Let me so we're kind of like, I'm gonna ask you a question. You feel weird about this and we're having him. Note at all, I was in astrets because we all we both love Justin. He's a good kid. Did you see his Twitter poststory, which one I didn't you see it. He didn't, must not you would know what it go out to break read it. It's a

long one, oh about the layoffs. And I kind of wrote him a note apple, I'm happy he's still working today. He has to get up to They paid for the trip, so exactly. Well the point I sent him a letter through Twitter because you've been through it. I've been through it. To the paper closed, you've been through a few jobs transitions. It's called life. Man. It sucks. It sucks, it does, but it happens in the industry. The newspaper industry is in a bad spot.

It's hard, you know, it's just really hard to walk in and tell somebody, you know what, you don't have a job anymore, and there's nothing about you, right, let's just have to and yeah, it just has to happen. But yes, I did read that the whole thing. I said. You know, you got to enjoy what

you do until you can't do it. Anymore, right, And I tell him this all the time because you know, just for a father of the advice or whatever. But we've all been there. We've all been there because we see it. Yeah, it's like I use all these ten commandment things, but the cloud that comes to get the first born you have, you can't do. What can't about it? Right to become and creepy, You

absolutely can't stop. All right, let's go and take our break and we'll call it a justin Spirits, he's in Kansas City for the NFL Draft. He's covering a Bijean Robinson over there. He's had some Scott to spend some time with him this week, so we'll pick his brain about what's going on

Buck Sports fourteen fifty Steve Rivera, He's Jacon's outs Now depo. We have justin Spirit of the Arizona Daily Star and another radio show on

fourteen ninety, How are you justin? Are you coming back? Are you coming back to Tucson? Yeah? Yeah, what was that last far? See? Are you coming back to Tucson? I don't know. The barbecue here is pretty damn good. I like the barbecue out here in Kansas City as much as like snort hot dogs in Mexican food. This this barbecue, I here's no joke. So coming back to Tucson, guys, I think

I'm staying out here in Casey. Good. So there you go. So you so you've been there a few days, You've you've been you hung a little bit with Beijean Robinson. Obviously the interest here is that what happens to be Jean? So first of all, you know, just you know, and you look. I loved your column that you did on him the other day. But just tell us a little bit about your relationship with him and just how you know your thoughts on him and the guy he's become Bijan man.

He's he's stayed the same. Um. You know, when I had a chance to, you know, talk to him at Raising Keynes in Kansas City. We know he's doing a promotional event. You know, it was almost like I was still talking to that that fourteen year old that I met at South Point Catholic and you know, Bijean. I first got word of Beijean after this freshman year at South Point and I just kept hearing about you know, this guy's got the ID factor. And then sure enough him and

I got to know know each other. And he wasn't really active on social media in the early part of his recruitment, and when you know, he started to get all of these college offers, you know, I kind of turned into like the Bijean reporter um. You know I was, you know, I was standing right next to him when he got offered by Alabama. You know, we were about to get lunch at EGS, and just minutes before we're getting lunch at EGS, Jeff Banks from Alabama calls and gives him

an offer. And you know, he had offered from USC and all these great programs. Obviously Texas was the one that he wanted to go to. And every one thing I've noticed about a Beijean and his career up to this point is that every decision that he has made has been calculated, and he's got such a great support system, a great foundation with his family. I mean, his grandparents are just amazing. Cleo and Jerry Robinson are just two

world class people. And then also his parents Lamore and Lamont's falls. I mean, they've done such a great job of raising these young men. And his aunt Clarissa Robinson, who is Cleo's daughter, she's done such a great job of managing him. And that's the thing about Beijan is that, yeah, he signed with Clutch Sports, and you know, he's gotten help from a lot of other people, but when you look at the foundation and where he's at right now, it's all his inner circle, it's all his family,

and honestly, that's the way it should be. And even with all of the success with Nil, with on the field success you know, about to get ready for the draft, Jon Robinson has always been one of the

most humble human beings I've ever met. And when you talk to people about Beijon, they mentioned, you know, briefly, his football prowess, but they also talk about how great of a human being he is, and that's why I said, you know, people kind of view him as a Hall of fame type of player, but I see him more as a as a gold jacket human being. He's he's one of a kind and I can't wait to see his career. Yeah, isn't that the special thing? It takes

a village. Obviously he has it with his family. But if you're a pain in the neck and you have a good family, it doesn't mean anything. But him being a great kid or a great young man that makes it just even more that, you know, make it more successful. Yes, And he's very grounded in his faith, and he loves two sons. And you know, we've seen a lot of you know people, they try to get out of Tucson as quickly as possible, and then when they get out

of Tucson, they never look back. The thing about Bijan is that he's always found a way to come back and impact his community, whether it's to help out of camps, whether it's to help out of practices. It was the last couple of years of his life had just been so crazy. You know, it's really tough for him to you know, stick around a Tucson for a while, Like leading up to the NFL Draft. He came back to Tucson to film part of his documentary on Overtime and he was only here

for like not even a day. But Bijean loves Tucson. He represents us everywhere that he goes, and it's just amazing to know that. You know, you know, kids can look at that. You know, people will always say that two songs a trap, and it's so hard to be successful at whatever it is that you do coming out of Tucson, and you know, Bijean is a classic example of you can be born or raised in the

five to be in the old Publow and you can make it out. And I don't know where he's gonna go and the NFL Draft, I'm hoping selfishly he falls somehow to twenty one so my Chargers can pick him up. But I think that, uh, I think he's gonna be somewhere either at number ten to Philadelphia or somewhere in the teams. I don't imagine Bijean falling past twenty. So you know, you got to see him at that, at that promo and stuff. You know, is he is he nervous? Is

he having fun? A little of both? Uh, He's been on a lot of you know a lot of talk shows and podcasts. I saw him on Dan Patrick. Uh yeah, what's his what's his kind of not not his mood, but just how you know, how's how's he handling all this.

He's having the time of his life right now. He's having such a ball and I think it's because with his family and you know, signing the Clutch Sports, which is obviously founded by Rich Paul, who is the agent of Lebron James and you know Clutch Sports and his family, they've kind of taken all the pressure off of of this the media circus that comes with the

NFL Draft and all the pressure. Um. Yeah, He's going to these different you know, promotional events with Old Spice, with Verizon, with raising canes, like he's doing all of the pr stuff that professional athletes normally do. Um, but he's just having fun while doing it. His aunt, Clarissa has done such a great job of managing him and is you know, quarterbacking all of the different events and is you know, really attached to him and is directing him in the right direction, and you know he was It

was kind of funny. Um, you know, I was talking with Beijean after his little raising Canes events and UM, and Bijean looked at me. He was like, hey, by the way, did you want to do like a like an interview or something like off to the side, like Bijean was the one who wanted to do the interview. UM, and then Clarissa kind of looked at both of us and kind of gave us that that that the evil eyes like we gotta go, we gotta take this show on the

row. We got, we gotta get out of here. And so Jean and I we hugged and said, all right, man, I'll see at the draft. Good luck, and uh yeah, she's she's Clarissa. I think she's just an amazing job of shielding off all the drama that goes into the NFL Draft. So justin I'm hoping that he goes to San Diego because I'm tired of those crying memes of your just enough Los Angeles. These Los

Angeles not much. I can always will always be San Diego. So so are you are you talking to some people out there who are you'll give you an idea of you know, where where Beijean might go. You know, this is the fun part of it, right of covering this stuff that everybody gets to speculate and make guesses and whatever. So what's the uh, you know, what's the buzz out there about him? So I'm gonna put on

my tinfoil hat on here for a second. Okay, Um, I got my tinfoil hat on, and I'm starting to think, I know a lot of mocks drafts have him going number ten to Philadelphia. And I looked at his his mother, mother's wearing a kelly green dress. Okay, so you'd like to think maybe she knows something, maybe the family knows something, and maybe Beijean goes number ten to the Philadelphia Eagles. That seems to be kind of the buzz right now out here in Kansas City is Bijean going number ten?

But man, you know a running back at number ten, and you think about all the holes that Philadelphia has on their defense after their running the Super Bowl because a lot of guys were free agents, a lot of guys left on the defensive side of the ball. So you know, you would think, you know, you know, a safe pick would be all right, let's go after a Christian Gazalas from Oregon, or let's go after a defensive player. But you think about this man, you put Bijeon with that

offense. I mean, they lost Miles Sanders, so you put Bijean paired up with Jalen Hurts, you got a j Brown at wide receiver, you have a great offensive line. Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in football right now, and Bijean doesn't really have to do everything in that offense. And he's going to be the perfect weapon for them because he can pass catch, he's a great runner, he can get out of the space, and you put him and drop him right into that offense. Philadelphia is going

to be so fun to watch next year. I mean they already had one of the highest powered offenses in football. Imagine when what they can do with a guy like Bijean. So I think Jean is a perfect fit for the Philadelphia Eagles. Um. I've also heard that the Detroit Lions, I believe they have the eighteenth overall pick um they're looking at possibly getting Jean Um. But you know, running backs are so weird. You know it's a position

that you know, hey, it's five years ago. If Beijean was coming out of the NFL Draft or eight years ago, Bijean will be a surefire top five pick, but running backs have have changed in the NFL draft, and you know it, Bijean's in a weird spot because he can go from number ten to Philadelphia, or he can you know, fall all the way to number twenty seven to Buffalo. I don't think that's the case. I just I really have a hard time believing that a lot of teams in this

draft are gonna let Bijean fall past twenty. I just I just don't see it right now. Or he can go to thirty to Philadelphia. It's just you never know. Like you said, let me talk about are you real quick justin you've been able to do some stuff. You're a young man. You were both your your US your us just many years later. Um, the experiences that you're getting this is one of them. Uh, you must be very happy that you're being able to do this stuff, no doubt.

You know. I grew up watching the NFL Draft, And one thing about my going back to my relationship will be Jean is when when we first really starting started to you know, become personal with each other and started to build a relationship. I always told Bijean, I'm like you know what, man, you are so talented, You're gonna go on to big things. I'm gonna be there when you're when you get drafted. And we've we've manifested this, you know. I told him, like, I'm gonna be there when

you get drafted. I don't know who who's gonna draft you, but I'm gonna be there regardless. And a few years later, I'm out here in Kansas City covering Bijean Robinson going to the NFL um But you know, for me personally, you know, like I said, I grew up watching the

NFL Draft, and I love the the NFL. You know, it's uh something that's very near and dear to my heart, as you guys know, and to me, this is such a great experience, you know, And this is my first NFL draft, so I got to enjoy it while I can, you know. I mean, I'm in a place where it has great bar barbecue and the NFL Draft. Like I said earlier, guys, i don't know if I'm gonna come back to Tucson. I'm in heaven right now. But this is this is a dream come true, honestly, and

I hope that it's one of many. Just bringing some of that sauce back and you will create serious man, Just bring some of the sauce back. Seriously. So you know, well, tell us a little bit about the spectacle that that it's become, you know, because you know when we you know, we were you know, coming up with it, it was that you know, it was in New York. It was in a hotel, uh, you know, exhibition hall, or it was at uh at the you know, the theater and stuff like. And now it's been moved on

and it's basically a festival. H It's an outdoor thing. It's like a big giant carnival. Describe some of the the picture of it right now. For us, it is a circus right now. I got here four hours before draft start and it was nuts then, and I'm inside the media center right now. They have this you know kind of uh set up for us to watch the TVs and monitor the draft and all that. So I'm not actually at the main stage right now. But it's a madhouse. And plus

it's in a football city, you know, Kansas City. These guys freaking love their Chiefs. I don't know, It's it's easy to root for the Chiefs. Right now because they're winning and you know, getting Super Bowls. But everywhere I go someone's got a Kansas City jersey shirt, hat whatever. I haven't seen a single Royals shirts or hat as i've been here, but man, these the city loves or chiefs, I'll tell you that. And it's it's an absolutely madhouse right now. You've got people coming in from all

different parts of the country and it's it's a circus. And you know, like you guys said, it all started in a hotel and then it went to the radio city and music hall, and you know, once upon a time there was a guy questioning, you know, who the hell was mel Kiper I think it was the GM for the Indianapolis Cold And decades later, mel Kiper Jr. Is you know, the biggest voice when it comes to

the NFL Draft. And the scene has just evolved from you know, a little hotel ballroom to now a full fledged stage with it's it's pretty much like a stadium and it's a traveling circus. Last year it was in Las Vegas, this year is in Kansas City, and it's really become just a giant monster and it's it's pretty cool. Yeah, But Will you go out into like the audience or whatever and just check it out to see, you know, to see the stage and you know, see a couple of draft picks

or anything like that. Yeah, I'll probably go out there and see the first pick. Um. It's the media center and the actual main stage is kind of like like a five to ten minute walk, and so I'll be sure to check out the you know, the first couple of picks. But then once we get into you know, be Jean Robinson range kind of have to be available to post my story for the airs on Daily Star and Tucson dot Com. But no, the scenes out here, the scene how here

is great. I mean a lot of fans from all over. I mean I've seen a lot of Raider fans just stepped out, you know, with their faces painted silver and black and they have the whole costume on. And these these fans many they're they're showing out. It's pretty cool. They are always those raiders and kooky crazy. I just hope they don't kill somebody tonight. See Jay's always thinking of the negatives. I watch it, don't listen to Jay. I watched a lot of Dayline j Justin and that that's just

where my mind goes every time where he raiders stuff. Is that what you're sat? We're gonna get that caller back. I know he's gonna he's gonna call and he's gonna be mad at me again. Yeah, Jason to have a good time. Thanks for joining us, thanks for doing this with us, and good luck with your show in the mornings. We listened, but I don't get up there. Thank you, guys. I appreciate it. Thanks a budge. Yeah, Justin spears very cool. Uh, you know, a good kid, good guy. Econ him. A kid is the

case. He is a kid. I think he's younger than my kid. So he's a kid, and he enjoys what you know. I just said, you know, just enjoy what you kid. Yeah, let's come a long way for you know, for a young guy like that. He's doing some big stuff over Yeah. And uh, and and he has a job right you know, right in place. It is stuff to keep a job. Okay, let's take our last break, we'll come back. Let's we'll wrap it up. Whatever you want to talk about. I want to talk

more about, you know, failures versus versus disappointments. You want to talk draft. Uh, what you think about be Jean Robinson? All the things that being said about him all cool stuff. you go the first? Yeah, he called it, Steve. You know what today is to day where everybody wins, everybody getting better today Again, Don, I'd really want to be a Raiders fan because there, you know, you would give me a reason to go to Vegas more than once or twice a year. So I'm trying, Okay, I'm trying. I'll try and stop saying bad things about Raider fans. You don't have to be a Raiders fan, but if you keep saying bad things, people are gonna know

who you are. So so, John, that's how he tries. Look if he didn't try, at least, I'm talking about him, right, Hey, who are they gonna take or who do you hope they take? I hope they take me, John Robinson. No, No, we have a running back. They just got to resign him. Um, there's a lot of there's a lot of chatter about us trying to pick up a quarterback I think, but the quarterback I don't think C J. Strout is gonna

be there when we get to pick Bryce Young is too small. I mean he's he's really good, but he's just he's too small to play NFL. It's like you're you're rolling the dice, just like the Cardinals have have been. Or we'll continue to be right right, all right, Hey, man, appreciate it. I'll I'll try and ease up. I'll try and ease up on your boys. Keep the raider's name out of your mind, all

right. I thought he left his keys here or something. Yeah, yeah, no kidding, all right, So I'm starting to get some photos and videos and things like that. Bijon was sort of a I thought it was black, but it's more like a charcoal gray, shiny double breasted suit that he's wearing looks really good. The black turtleneck, although I don't know he got that turtleneck over his neck. It just I mean, he looked like he just got this. He's got this big giant block of concrete, didn't

You'll always remember as a as an adult, is this day? This day? Oh? Yeah, this day? Yeah? You know, it's kind of it's kind of funny. Um uh. You know the movie Draft Day, really good movie. Have you ever seen it? Ye? Love the one line in there that I love that Kevin Costner said that a bunch of things you only get drafted once. Enjoy the day, you know, enjoy the day, right because after who had Remember John Pena He remember John?

He talked about he didn't have his family, that they were in Spain, so he made the call. But you have your here. He has his people that are right obviously, and you get to celebrate with everybody. Yeah, and because the day starting tomorrow. Man, it's real life. It's it's life. You're you know, you're you've got you've got a job with a company basically, and and you're you know, a very important job.

Businessman. It becomes a business really fast. Yeah, yeah, no, it's no doubt, but that you really do hope that And that's why I kind of asked the question, you know, are people are you know, are they nervous? You know who's more nervous? You want, like you think of the Aaron Rodgers experience, right, we just started dropping in. He probably thinks remember his draft day has been a horrible day for him in terrible kay for him. Right, you got to the packers really well.

But sure you know, if you if you think you're gonna get drafted hind then you don't what what becomes the memory of the draft? Yeah? No, everybody has a different memory, right, Um, I remember Becky ninety's sat baby went went and then Michael Dickerson and Miles was waiting, yeah wait waiting and waiting and went in the second round. Yeah, everybody has a different memory. Yeah, yeah, no doubt, no doubt. So you know, I hope it's a hope it's a good time for all of these

guys and currently be jown again. You want to go. You want a guy who's been a good guy, a good soldier, good kid, to end up in a good place. You know, you hope somebody like you know, the Commanders don't take him, or you don't said, I'm not gonna say the Raiders. You know, I think I bet you'd love to be with the Raiders. You'll be just a few hours from home or the or the Chargers or the Rams. You know, you know one of those places, you know where you know where's close to home. You know,

if he's a Philingelphia man, that's a long way Phoenix. Who who they was running back? I don't even know. That's why I care about that. Jody Ailer out there is out there is out there campaigning for the for the for the UH, the Cardinals to trade down, but only far enough where they can still get Bijan. You know, yeah, but I don't know, you know, I don't know what um. I'm a listener Bill

over here saying he does hope the Commanders taken because they need him. Bill, the Commanders need everything, So Bijean is only a little bit of what you guys need a new start though, they get a new owners Yeah help, Yeah, that should help. Yeah, just just get clean in house and then you can start taking players and ruining their careers. So anyways, but uh, this should be fun. Uh if he if he gets taken about let's say, if he eight is about the earliest people are saying he'll

go. He's probably you know, he'll be in the second hour of the draft before he gets taken, So that gives gives you a night time to get home and uh, you know, pick up the draft and see where he goes. How crazy would it be though, if you went to the Eagles. Typically when you get drafted in the first round and you're the best to your position, you typically go to a team that is very good.

Right, Eagles might be the NFC favorite, right that playing in the super Bowl, arguably in his first year out totally, and I think Jason Jason said the best. They don't need to overwork him, right, kids didn't have to do every since he'd be a piece in the big piece. Right. But yeah, I mean, how ya, how fortunate would it be if you're drafted tenth, so drafted high, but then you go to one of the two or three best teams in the league. Double bonus right there.

For sure, that would be perfect for him. A lot of Valley kids now because you have Rock Party over in the forty nine ers from Gilbert and then now having Bijean Star, we might see some more, some more kids show many year. How old are you twenty one and he's nineteen, right, I think. So there's the quarterback situation out of Phoenix just kind of Comecca a little a little Mecca because they're all over the place. None of them are going to Nope. But there's another thing. You know,

you're already growing up there. You kind of have this ambition of going somewhere else, you know what I'm saying. And there's so many who was the kid that went to Dikloma didn't transferred And there's more than that, right, So you know we'll see some teams are already looking for next year. They're already looking at Williams. So teams like the Texans that are looking to get a defensive player think next year they're better off taking one of those Drake may

or Williams. Yeah, Caleb Williams. Yeah, now that well and that and that's kind of what what uh uh? Pat Finley told us that that the Bears they treat you know, they're gonna have a high pick next year. There's you know, there's even some people saying that the Texans shouldn't take one of the quarterbacks because if they, you know, can get a decent draft pick next year, they can get a better quarterback next year, then

they're going to get this year with the number two pick. And there's probably so strange that you want to count not take that you're gonna give up a season for next season, but you know, something they might do that. It's also funny to see there's a video of how the Texans the last game of the season ended with them winning in over time. I believe to one this is a where did we got another call? Hire on there and I in the ball. Hey, good afternoon, guys, Tommy Lane, how

are you doing good? What's up? Hey? So, since you know we have to do this the NFL Draft, and you guys have at least a couple of months you know, combined of journalism, why do you think the media work going into the Super Bowl last year, the media just kind of all together got together in a wave and decided that Jalen Hurts was going to win the Super Bowl. I mean, my question is, I'm not I don't have it. I didn't have a dog in the fight. But

the media did. They not. The vast majority said that the Eagles would win because and I'm sorry, I just go back to, well, how about experience in the Super Bowl? Right right now? Well, I think they were all the odds on a favorite, won't they fit? Yeh? And Kansas City had been kind of up and down, an inconsistent, and Philly kind of just steady. Yeah. Remember Ken say had a stretch in the middle of the year where they just lost some games that they just were

puzzling. But you know, you're right, you know, when it came down to it, they were you know, they were the chiefs. They were the chiefs that we all all know. And let's let's fix facts. They were a player away from winning it. Remember that the late drive, late drive that didn't Cincinnati. Yeah, the year before the late driving the game, Yeah, it was that player guess a bad call that they think it was a bad call. You never you never know. But next year

I think this is Tommy, isn't it this Tommy? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, Tommy that I think next year, How could you not think that they're gonna win it or be or be there again? Right? Oh yeah, absolutely absolutely. I mean, you know, like, like I said, neither team was neither. I didn't have a dog in the fight. We went to the game, but my bets were also on the tief, So I guess that makes it feel a little more pumps, like, oh yeah, I had it figured out. I mean, right, you had

a dog in the fight. Hey, can I throw one more thing in? You know, I come from the Midwest, you know, and people in Arizona are really staunch about if you live in Arizona you have to follow the Arizona teams. Well, I gotta tell you, I get a lot of joy about watching and watching the Warriors every year and watching the sun collapsed. And I think we're on the doorstep of that again. Yeah, yeah,

no doubt. Well. Well, and you know, you spent some time in Tucsons, so there's just not a lot of love for the Phoenix Suns here anymore than there's for the Cardinals as well. Fans in Tucson are fans of whoever their parents loved or whatever. So yeah, no, I hear you, hey, and real quick, you guys, remember you remember when, you know, when we first had a team in the Diamondbacks about what we call bank On Ballpark. We all got into that, right,

we get a team, we're in the playoffs. Three years later and what was it four or five years we had bought and won a Super Bowl, I mean our world, which was great. Well, you got the Cardinals put in your lap. There were not a ya, They're not a homegrown team like the Diamondbacks. And then the Diamondbacks came here, they did the spring training here, did all the right things early, and then they threw us the finger and left, and you know, so yeah, I just

don't think you see a lot of Diamondbacks fans down here. There's some leftover, but not a ton. Hey, Tommy, thanks a whole bunch, man. We do appreciate it. Thanks for the call. Thank you, guys. I always loved the show and the gap, Thank you, thank you very much. We got about two and a half. We just came across a little bit ago. Arizona Beach Volleyball Advances again. They beat Asuda Okay, we also have moving one point one point yeah, so we'll have

those guests back, those coaches back. Um, so we'll see what EPs in the future of the next shows. Tomorrow, We're gonna have Jake Fisher obviously a Friday guy, and then we'll figure out on you, yeah, on you guests in the internet. I'm you know, I'm you know, I pay attention to the draft. I rarely sit down and watch the draft. I think I'm actually gonna do that. Partly my wife's and at home. Still is you got another another day to go solo? You know it's

so long. It's so long to me, Well, and you know I do. I Here's what I do, is I see the draft pick. I don't need to hear the you know, the analysis and stuff like that. I'll flip channels and then I'll come back for the next draft pick and the next is it how many minutes between ten minutes? Ten minutes? Because for the first round, to get ten minutes between picks, That's what I'm

saying. If you if you're in the if you're you know, the number eight pick, you know you're gonna get drafted in the second hour basically, So um, so you know, you you don't have to start watching it. Probably don't have to start watching it for b John Robinson until about six o'clock, which, like I said, gives me plenty of time to at home, get something to eat, cook a little, and then sit on and watch the draft. So I'm looking forward to that. It'll be a

lot of fun. Okay, well, guys, we had about a minute and a half. Thanks everybody for calling. Yeah, so the kids didn't push up the buttons. Man, we didn't screw it up all day. Thanks, we're here, mister, you know, I know everything kind of guy, you know, yeah, showing the ropes right, right, So he's now a member of a new fratern not a new fraternity, but a new fraternity member. Right, Your future is bright, right, it's all started here. Put us on your resume. This is what oh I think

said the basement. I'm like, well that's true too. I'd be called worse. So that's okay, exactly exactly. All right, let's go ahead and check out. We're gonna be back tomorrow again. Jake Fisher will be on. We'll let him analyze the draft for us and what he thinks, and we'll have another great guest. And then we'll move on and the draft will be over, and then what do we talk about? Steve Wow, major League Baseballs? You know when when do your when do your Warriors play

again? Tomorrow? I think tomorrow or Saturday. These guys might know against against Denver, but my no, no, no, against the doing it for the Lakers, aren't they? Because they got they got one more yet they got the key. Come on, I've already got him, you got already got him in the moving on. Okay, all right, don't break, don't crust my dreams. Okay, let's get out of here. We'll be back tomorrow
