It's a game that you think that we well, first of all, first of all, I should have won the game. First of all, I should have won the game. Hands don't

step out of bus. Second of all, yeah, they I watched a little bit of I saw the highlights. I know enough that you don't step out of bounds. The highlights that doesn't touch I don't need. Here's the thing when it comes to Arizona football, I don't need. I don't need to know much because we're not a football town. We don't win games like that. You're the we don't like that. What's fourteen Kikie, I'm Steve Rivera, jays out got a guy George Modison from show type cards. And now we got our guy, Jason Terry the Jet. Jason, how are you? I'm doing well? How about yourself? Well, thanks for joining us. Good to have you on the show. You're a busy NBA guy.

Now how's that going for you? Oh? I'm enjoying it, man, enjoying every moment of the journey in this next chapter in my career coaching career. We have a great staff, great organization, and a pretty tough roster. So we're looking forward to the season and hopefully it ends, you know, the way we all wanted to in a championship. That's awesome. That

is awesome. So tell me how it is. So you we've talked before and you said you liked the college coaching, you know, now you're coach Jet, but you're like, I kind of like the schedule more on the college and stuff. Now we're coaching pros. What how do you like that? Oh? I love it. I love it. I mean, there's really no difference nowadays because the guys are coming in at such a younger age and it's almost like you are coach and college kids. Especially with our rosters.

Way it's intact. Now there's a couple of bets, but you've got most part these guys are one and done or maybe two years at the most. There's really not a lot of difference. And I say it at any level. I mean, obviously the skill is what it is, but it's all about people and coaching people and getting you into the best versions of them sales every day. Your timeline. Okay, you you played a long time. You played a heck of a long time. We made a stop here

for a time. Are you kind of projected to do something beyond this down the road? What are you hoping to do down the road. Well, I just want to continue to grow as a coach where I'm at and as I continue to elevate. Obviously, as my big ultimate goal and dream is the one day lead a franchise as a head coach at whatever level. But right now, it's just continue to develop, continue to grow as a coach,

and keep honing my skills and giving back to the game. Yeah, that's the fact that you the fact that you were in the league for a long time. And this is me, this is me talking. What do I know right? Uh that you have you have cred, You have NBA cred. Do the do the guys, kids now gonna play play hard for you, will work hard for you because you have that credit. Well,

I think for me, it's because I crossed generations. And when I say that, it is because I played nineteen years, so I was in two different decades to two different errors, so to speak, almost three And so those guys understand I'm not too far removed. I'm the old head, but I'm not just a fresh new guy either. So the one thing about it

is they know I've completed at the highest level. They know I have their best interests, and I think that's what gets their respect more than what I did as a player, but more as who I am as a person and what I do for them every day, empowering them, encouraging them again to be the best version of themselves. Hey, Jed, it's Chris here. You know you jb entering the coaching ranks. You know, Ludosan, what was the biggest principle or the influence that coach left on you that you're used

today is as a coach self. So it was all about selflessness. And obviously to become a coach you have to have some sort of selflesslessness, and then you also have to have compassion. And I think those are two character risks that Luke displayed every single day. That along with you know, accountability,

holding yourself accountable, holding your teammates accountable to a certain standard. Best guys like myself, jb Luke, I mean, Josh Pastor, you can go down the lot of the Mole Simon x NBA guys, even Mike Bibby coach at the high school level, guys that have decided to, you know, take coaching on in their second careers. It's just all about the influence that Luke had on us. Yeah, let me ask you, Jaked,

because the times you're changed. Back then, you were the sixth man, you and off the right, maybe the record, but in my opinion, you could have been a starter here for a couple of years before you were coming off the bench. Given today's basketball, had you been able to do that, you probably never with a left R. You were for your guy. Even though you were for your guy, you know what I'm saying, Because Bibby was a two year guy. Everybody else out there, but you

could have probably did it. And if today's ball was being played back then, oh yeah. Obviously the reason that these guys back then when I played, and now, while we probably wouldn't have left, really, I mean think about financially. You know, a lot of us came from singing pairing background. You know the functional homes were financially weren't as favors. Now that doesn't really have an impact. So you don't necessarily have to leave earlier.

Because of new Nila, guys are to be compensated and there really is no rust and so now you can stay and develop. My thing was, I never really thought about playing the NBA. I was more, you know, I wanted to play professionally obviously, but I wanted to get my degree and enjoy every moment on campus and over some of the greatest four years. And right, no, because you have you grew with a lot of brothers from that team, and you guys would have killed at ninety eight. How you

nil? Right? Oh my goodness. You know when you went and asking Timid, obviously everybody benefits and even though we didn't have any ill, they treated as like we did. So I still get that on Wildcat discount every time they were about stopped everything every single game. Well, yes, yet I want to ask one quick question. You played your your best yours in Dallas. You obviously won the championship there in twenty eleven. What is Mark

Cuban like and what's your relationship? I love, absolutely love man. I get it most an any times somebody brings up Mark, because he's more than the owner. You know, he's a friend. Uh, he's a he's a big brother. He's a guy that if I call right now with us on this line, he would pick up and answer his answer the phone for

me. And that relationship continues even you know, after I've been done playing, and you know the way he takes care of his players while they're playing for him, and even when they go on to other teams and on into retirement, he still has a genuine love for you because you put that Maverick uniform on and uh, you know you did something for him and he continues to share that same love. I mean, you gotta love his passion. You gotta love the way he you know, roots for his team and best

type of like got a similar owner in Ryan Smith. I mean, the same passion for the game, the love of it. Obviously. You know you can say they don't need the money, it's just another investment for them, but these guys have a sweat equity in their teams, not just financial Jed, I'm just curious. You always hear the goat conversation, of course, and when you when you think of the goat, and I'm sure you're asked this question all the time, is it is it? Should we be

comparing eras or do we just go goat of all time? When you talk with in that conversation, Well, I mean, there's no doubt who my goat is. I mean, I don't know a pair of shoes in my closet that's not a paire. I knew he was going there. I'm just curious people people like to take out certain errors from the game, like the sixties and seventy. I'm just curious what you take is on that Mount Rushmore

conversation. Well, you can still do the the goats of errors, and then the goat of all goat is still for me going to be Michael Jordan. But if you say coat of errors, then obviously there's a there's a good conversation, but uh is not a barbershop talk. All these tis and that that step into this arena have done something that a small percentage of society has done. So I don't want to, you know, devalue anybody's career as you talk about top three. In my eyes, I mean I got

MJ. Kobe and then Lebron is right there. I mean, his career is not even over yet, and he's already been talked about the goat. He's a goat for that in his film. You know, he's still going. Has there any been Has there ever been a player that play at this such a high level for this period of time. There has not been, So he's going to have a say so at the end of the day when he finally hangs it up. And I don't see it happening in time soon.

I have to scout against him last year and you think he's slowing down and he's still, you know, moving just as good. And he'll he'll tell you, he'll tell you he's the goat, King King. He is the King. There's no doubt about it. Ju. I'm not sure you coach marketing, but you have him on the team of all the of all the Sean players, I would take him number one in my draft. I love because he can go inside outside and he's just coming into his own in

You know, a lot of people go to work because they have to. You know, I'm able to go to work and enjoy it and show up every day with a smile, and I'm still around the game. Like a lot of people. They said the stage they had an issue with with the weight of the stage, and they didn't want to, like, you know, jeopardize any fans getting heard or something in case it collapsed. But you would think they would. Kind of those legisims you can figure out, you know, hey we got a ten thousand pounds stage we set up. We need What did they do with your tickets? They pushed back to the show till October something. Now I'm on its own.

Now it goes on. Stuff up. You make a profit. Yeah, there you go exactly. And then you gotta take the girl off the dinner. Yeah yep, Oh she got her dinner, got her dinner. You got a steak. But when we just historically, I want to see us get over the hump, and when I see us in an endgame situation where I think that we can win the endgame situation, not by the line, it's just it frustrates me because we don't win those games. And that's where that's where it comes from

from me, is the frustration you're emotionally at times. I'm very much like, yeah, I come from a good place, but it's like when you're in the game, you're and you're in a situation where you should win the game, It's like, why don't we win those It's like the vikings, you just don't win the game. And my point is you would have picked this game a month ago, two weeks ago, a week ago, a day before. You're saying that's not a game they're gonna win. I completely

agree. But when you're in the game and you're in a situation to win the game, could have won the game. That's a game where they get over the hump and they and they take care of public perception, they win the game. And now we're talking about us as opposed to call it first year, assuming facts not into evidence. Guys, okay, they would have gone to overtime. Let's assume they going to it. There's not a guarantee

that they're gonna win that game in overtime, double overtime. You're not wrong, You're not wrong, but it's just it's a game that you want to see them win over to. You don't know, get your passion. I get passions from a good how frustrating. I am very frustrated by the way. You aren't. You aren't alone, you aren't I'm not. I don't think I'm on an island. I thank you. I don't think I am. You're not from here Georgia. No, I grew up in La Okay,

but I've lived here twenty five years, so you get it. I'm basically yeah, it's just a frustration party. It's like someone told me a number the other day. I'm gonna say less than five, maybe five, seven, seven, and my guess seven in the top twenty five fifty years. Yeah, all right, might be closer fifteen to twenty five. But it's just like even as a kid, like we're on the cover of Sports Illustrated, it's Desert Swarm. This is the year, Like we're gonna go

to the Rose Bowl, we might win the national championship. We go into Penn State, LaVar Arrington, LaVar Arrington just rolls as we lose like forty two ten. The season is over before it's like, it's that's the typical stuff I'm talking about with you of a football. I get that, but then all of a sudden Oh he look at look, look he's doing well. But they jump off the wagon and then jump right back. Just stop tweeting right away

it happened, tweets tacks. That's always like, you know what, though it's over, but it's part of being a fan. I don't get No, it's just the emotional roller coaster. Right. Baker Mayfield was a dud for for for fourteen minutes. Just say the first and then he rolls the Vikings and everyone's like, oh, he's he's got the moxie. This is the Baker Mayfuld we've been waiting for. It's like that's just part of because
