This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jakin's Aalis on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen powered by Nova Insurance Services Ensure your most prized possessions, katz R two, SAD and iHeart Radio Station. Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera alongside partner Jakins. Also got our boy Noah in the booth ready to help us through today. Welcome to Monday, Welcome to the start of summer. Yesterday

was one hundred thousand degrees. It was de barely one hundredy big weenie, one hundred thousand. Don't forget that thousand. It wasn't bet Yeah. I golfed on Saturday. It was beautiful. Yeah, but then hit yesterday. I'm not I'd rather be hot than cold. Yeah. And today's little windy promise a little too windy. I want to do. I want to spray some weeds in my yard yesterday and thought they better not because then I, you know, float over to the neighbor's house and they might get mad at

me. They might kill those birds. Yeah. I don't want to kill their daughter. Yeah, what's going on this weekend, anybody piss anybody off? No, well, you know what, Um, you know, I don't know if we mentioned it that Bruce Pasco got an interview with Tommy Lloyd on on uh I think it was on Friday or Saturday. He was at that string He was at that event up in Phoenix and saw Tommy and got some time with him, which is great. That's what that's why, that's

why Bruce gets paid the big bucks. But um, you know, Tommy, you know, pretty pretty open, seems pretty confident. But I thought in in the nicest way possible, In the nicest way possible, Tommy Tommy Lloyd way, he told the fans to shut the hell up about whether or not he's gonna have players that don't stop him. I don't tell him the hell, you know. I go back to some of these people who said, we demand to know who you're recruiting and what's going on, Like they

say that I heard. I saw a couple of those that we had. We as fans have a right to know what's going on in your recruiting. Shut why why? Exactly exactly, But that that's entitled Arizona fan. So that's that's uninformed, dumb ass. Well that yeah, you can say dumb ass. Okay, well that's exactly what that. But that's the fan that we're that that we're dealing with. That silly jay. Really you didn't see that. You didn't say no. So I saw two or three of those

that said he needs to tell us what's going on. He's not telling us enough of what's going on. Could you go back and find those and save him for me, because I want to saved those names and say what the hell are you thinking when everything turns out? Okay, and say because I know those people. I know some of the people said, well he's not doing this. I've saved the names to say no. Back in April,

you were complaining about this and that, but now you're not complaining. Yeah, it was family said, you know, I've got season tickets and I have a right to know what. You know what? You have a right to know the roster on day one of practice. That's it. That's all you get. I guess what. You don't have to buy season tickets, right, But this is if you're not going to sleep at night because he doesn't tell you, right, Hey, you have other things to worry about.

Yeah, but you know, um, I thought I thought. I thought Bruce asked a lot of the questions that we would want to ask, you know, what's going on or you know, Tommy said, I'm sleeping, well, I feel good about where we are recruiting wise, you know, we're gonna have guys. Just relax and and you know, and I thought that was good. Did he hate the fact that's a loss for Princton?

Absolutely? You know, was the season of total failure? It was not, you know, I mean he's happy about you know, what they're what they're doing as a program, just all the things that you would expect Tommy to say, sure, and that you and that you feel are sort of that's sort of but you know that that's how it is. And I have to accept that. Please fighting those those tell me, you know, because then I don't have to go trolling through all that stuff again. And

I don't know that I want to. I saw I saw tweets. No, maybe not. It might have been on Facebook. I don't know if you have. I just remember seeing that we have a right to know if you're getting players. I had a friend here maybe ten twelve years ago and just just an acquaintance guy who's uh, he had that same attitude. My daughter goes to school there. I contribute to the athletic department because my daughter goes there, and and this and that, and I'm thinking, what doesn't

have to do tea in China? It just doesn't. Doesn't just because your kid goes there. None of that money goes to the university athletic department. Right. If you're putting in that money with that expectation, then then you need to either just stop putting in that money so you don't have that expectation, or just realize you don't get that. I buy a Ford. No, I need to know what mister Ford is doing right right exactly, you

know. And so I I you know again, I just I really I read it, and I'm like, I'm kind of nodded my head as I'm reading. I'm going, you know, I'm glad. I'm glad Bruce got ahold of him, you know, so that he you know, and that he uh, you know, got time and you know what. I'm sure. Tommy was like, you know, guys, I'm gonna talk to you because I want everybody to relax. Sure, you know, sure, I mean, I don't know that he needed to or or you know, or

is required too. But I'm glad he did. Um and and you know, if I don't know if that's settled everybody or not. Probably not, probably because you know, he didn't say I'm going after this guy or that guy or the other guy. But he's basically said, you know, relax, I've I've got this. Yeah, and and until he starts losing a bunch of games, you have to believe that he's got it. It's like

you remember, I re read my story on Tommy Miller. Do you remember the time when up with uh Tarzuski told Sean Miller relax that way, just relax, dude. What he lost his mind? That was funny. I My head snapped from the scorers table. I'm like, God, there's something going on over there. It was pretty funny. A great picture, though, great picture. That was pretty funny. Well maybe they'll maybe they'll relax. They will, No, they will, Yeah, you just contribute.

I mean, I've I've been getting getting some questions too about the Arizona Assist stuff because it's become a little we had the guy on, we'll have them again in the future. Uh for more clarity that the money will go to help the basketball program. Nowhere else but the basketball program. So if you want to help there, and that's probably the number one place because you you're talking about collaborations, you're talking about those friends of that covers all the sports.

What do you it's the same thing. It collaboratives, it's not it's not a collective. Neither one of them is a collective. So what are they're neither They're just um, they're like marketing arms there because you they cannot be involved, right because Adam Lazar said specifically, we are not a collective. We are separate from the university. We are marketing the players. We're giving the players an outlet too. So they're not a collective that's collecting money

to give to the program. What they're doing is they're electing money. So that if you, as a business want to want to get a player to come and endorse your company, they can come and you can give money to that and they can come and do that. Right, you know you're paying the kids, right, paying the kids for their time, right, right that you can do that directly or you know, these guys find opportunities and they have money to then pay them to do it. Yeah, and that

that's what that is. If you are if you're curious, just go to the website looking more into it. They have cool shirts. I was with them last week. They have cool shirts, they have cool merchandise. Uh, they'll be on the show more often down the road, just to clarify things for us, and maybe we'll help out a little too. Yeah, you know, we're hell to help. We're you know, just kind of talk talk about this craziness. Everybody you know loves Arizona. They wanted to

see them succeed, so we'll see it again. It's going to take more than buying tickets. Now, that's the game, whether you like the game or not. You know, we have all these will already buy tickets and I donate. Well, the game has changed. It's it's more than that anymore. And so people have to get used to the fact that there's more

to it than you know, buying your tickets. I buy put up over a thousand dollars on a Saturday, you know, to get my to get my tickets and my tailgate paths and my my chairback seat and all that stuff for this coming season. And you know, I mean that's all I can

do right now. But you know I want to help more. And you know, if it means that I contribute to one of these groups that helps with NIL and that helps Arizona get players or keep players or whatever, then you know, I'll try to figure out a way to do that back. And I'm sure that I'm sure that Hekey does this. I'm sure that Greg did this all the time. Uh. The it's the front porch of the university. Uh. If if you're not doing if you're not going ahead,

you're falling back. What's the little phrase they used. Uh, if you're not moving forward, you're falling back. You're in the same place. Guess what at every school, powerhouse school is due is doing it, is doing it. If you want to stay in the front, you have to continue or start doing it because just because you're Arizona, like one of those guys, I don't get it. We're Arizona. We're a good place where a powerhouse. Okay that was that was yesterday. Yeah, this is not your

father's team anymore, not your father's program anymore. Um, things change, and it's changed on a dime. And yeah, it's changed in a hurry to get used to. It's like I said, it's a whole different game today than just relax. Sure, it reminds me of something that you know, I will tell you. I'll tell you off the year. Okay. Cool. So a lot of stuff in the NBA going on. The draft

of went out. Arizona didn't get anything. Anybody draft, but they've had two players signed and then a couple other players have been invited to camps. Okay, what do you have you have for breaking news? Do you have any of that? I know I did not, so that is just say yeah, I save it for later. I don't know who they are, so you don't say, Okay, you can track that down, Ye'll be that'll be breaking news to me exactly exactly about the Boston Bruins. Oh I

did. I don't follow hockey at but I was I don't either, but I'm sitting there and all of a sudden, my my phone is blowing up from the thread that you know, the the young guys that I'm on who you know, who care? They they care about hockey, soccer, NBA, they care about everything, and they're like they're like the Bruins are gonna be a fraud they're about to lose, and then then they're like, okay,

they're up three two, it's all good. And then all of a sudden, somebody says, holy cow, and I go and I so, I finally changed the channel, and I saw that. I saw that, Um, the game got tied inside of a minute, goes to overtime, and the Bruins lose with the best record ever in the NHL, right right ever, and then the defending champs, the defending champs get beat by our boy dougs the cracking or what the cracking. If you're happy, if you're

a sober, give us a call. But you know, immediately I saw that that the Bruins losing completed the set for teams that set the all time wins record in their regular seasons in the NFL, which was the Patriots going sixteen and oh, the NBA the year that the Warriors went seventy two and ten, UM, the year that the Mariners won one hundred and sixteen games, and now the Bruins with the best record ever in the NHL. None of those four teams the year they they set those records won their championship.

Also, it's also like in hockey well, I mean in basketball, do you think about it? Which how many? How I was the last time like a team with the best record won the championship? Yeah, same with like hockeys. All four teams from the four major sports that set records for wins did not win their cham The one exception for this is is not exception. It's just different. Uh. This is like the everyone's first round game. Right, you get one chance that right? In these others what you

get seven? Right? Well that's seven. You can kind of work yourself through stuff, right, That's what's crazy. Then again, the best record in the NBA this year went out in the first round. The best record in the NHL went out in the first round. Sow you played that day? Wow? And in those cases for a week. For it took the Bucks less than a week. It took it took the Bruins a full week

plus. They were up three one. Yeah, they're up three one with two of the remaining three games at home, and they lost And they lost all three games, right, right, And you have to have your key players like Jannis was out a game or two, right, who else was out? For other the Lakers are okay? Uh? Dream Morat was out for the last few games of his troubled time. So, but I would like the series. Now it's gonna be the Warriors and Lakers. That should be a lot of fun. You see that in the in the in the

NBA playoffs, there's a one through eight. There's eight teams left, and there's one through eight seeds left right, the first time it's ever happened. Yeah, yeah, five and five five upper seeds or kind of playing through the through. No, it's gonna be fun. Wide open. Man. I was wondering about the ticket prices for that Warrior, um the Warrior Lakers or is it the hockey or is it hockey? I know that the Warriors, the basketball is upper Yeah, upper seeds are gonna be lying for for

the first time in forever. All right, that's right. There's sixteen teams left, right, because there's there's four four and four. Oh, there's only eight teams left, four each side. Yeah, because Lakers play the yeah four ye in the seventh Yeah, okay, Conference semifinal, Okay, whatever? Should it should be fun. The Nuggets have played tonight, right, no, tomorrow they playing night and the Boston the Washington. I'm not telling anything there come on, see you tell me who you got so I

can take them. Come on, when you texted me yesterday, I did not bet the Warriors, so I jumped on even more. The Celtics have bumped up to a ten point favorite with them beat Joel and beating Yeah, and then the Nuggets are four point favorite minus one seventy on the money. Oh, let me tell you. Oh, get a minute, We're gonna get a call from Mugg. Let's get to our guys. I'll talk about

this thing on the other side. Okay, So Dennis Benet, who was he was He was b John Robinson's coach at that point, and he was with him at the dre after last week. So Dennis is going to come on and just talk about that experience. And then Heather Moore Martin, who won her third straight beach volleyball state championship at south Point, she'll be joining us to talk about getting another one of those. And you know, oh hum right, they're just you're just coming along, just keep piling up state

championships. But anyway, so Dennis, we're kind of all south Point all the time for her, for our two guests. But Dennis Benet, who was as I said with Pejon Robinson at the draft, and we'll just talk about how that went and how much fun was that. So stick around for

all that and we'll be right back. Hey, welcome back to all I'm about here. I'll fox Sport fourteen. Cookie. I'm alongside partner Jaken Dallas now and if on we have Dennis, one of the great high school coaches from our past at South Point. Now he's somewhere else, but we'll talk about that in a little bit. But Dennis, how are you. I'm doing well.

Yeah, doing well. Good to be on your show. I appreciate it. Yeah, we've been with us before. Great to talk to you again. How was how was the weekend? You probably had a lifetime of a lifetime thing that you've never done before, and how fun was it? Yeah? It was a great time, first class experience for sure, and to be able to share with Beijean and his family was just once in a lifetime, very very fortunate, very blessed to have had the opportunity. So,

Dennis, this is Jay, So just tell walk us through. You know, just you know, you got there, you you know where you went, who you saw, what you were able to do, hanging out with Beijean at the at the draft. Yeah. So, um, kind of the headquarters was the Lows, Kansas City and kind of all the players were there and all their agents and staff and things like that. And then um, yeah, I had breakfast Bijean every morning, which was nice.

And then of course draft day he had a lot on his plate and so I hung out a lot with his grandfather, Cleo, and uh sure enjoyed my time with him. And then, um, the draft day, we all headed up to the Union station and a very first class event, really well run, and I get to spend some time with Stan Drayton, who recruited Bijean out of Texas. And then you know, the draft went by

pretty quick and we all headed out. Bijean probably had another hour of things to do, and then we went out to dinner and we're in this restaurant. It was John's family and will Anderson's family, and that was a neat experience and uh we stayed there at about about one in the morning, celebrating and uh and ended ended a great, great day for sure. What you know, we're all older dudes, nothing really phases us. But I'm sure

you were starstruck by someone that you were able to meet her. Uh yeah, I think the neatest thing was we came Bijean, I came down the elevator and kirk Curve Street was there, and uh, I was that was probably, um, for me, really really great experience to meet meet him and talk with him. He thinks so highly of Beijeon, and and of course you watching college football every Saturday and and seeing Herbie there listening to him, it was that was really a neat moment to meet him and speak with

him. And then I was fortunate to run into Mark Stoops, who I've known for a long long time. He was there with his quarterback Will Levis, So that was nice to see Mark again. Of course. So uh so you're I'm assuming you were sitting in the green room with him and with the family and all that waiting for the he was being drafted. Yeah, I was actually kind of right next door and um, just just outside and um and uh the green room was was very very nice. His family,

his agent, I was there. And then as soon as he got drafted though, he came out and coach Drayton and I gotta gotta meet with him and um, and it was funny because he was right in front of all the Atlanta Falcon fans and so it was quite a scene there. They were. They were really excited, of course to have Bijeon selected to their team, and like I said, and then we um, we all got whisked off to the back to the hotel and m and then kind of some things.

You know, we're taking place for Bijeon, and and we went off to dinner and just had a wonderful night. So it was very universally thought that he was going the first round. But did he appear nervous at all to you? Or was he just kind of like, you know, it's gonna happen, so I'm not gonna worry about it. I mean, how how was he taking that? Because I you know, I mean, is he nervous about where he's gonna go? Is he nervous about if he's going to go in the first round? I mean, did you get a sense

of what was going through his head waiting for the draft? Yah? Know, he was very calm and um, you know, just took everything in stride. I think for him, the way he's seen things, there's a tremendous blessing for him to be there and even have the opportunity. But now he really wasn't nervous. He was you know, he's so recognizable and and

so forcing the lobby of the hotel. Um, you know, there was a few fans that that we're in there, and he was very um, very good you know at at um giving autographs and making pictures with fans and things, and I think he was pretty very relaxed throughout the day. I

think as I got closer he got a little nervous. He came down all dressed up and did some kind of like we did some pre draft photos and things, and I think at then he could sense that he was, you know, getting getting anxious because it was, you know, it was he was just about an hour away, two hours away from being drafted. But overall he handled things, uh, you know, in true Bajohn fashion, just with class and took everything in stride, handled it like a like a

real professional. So you had him for a number of years right at South Point when't do you remember when the first time you saw him play and you said, hmm, this guy could be special. Yeah, we chatted about that, and I thought it was his sophomore year he had a really big time run and really catapulted him into I think stardom. But it was actually as freshman year. We were at Sunnyside and he had a long run down

the less left sideline and made a couple of cuts. He's a stiff arm broke a tackle and we were laughing and he was like, no, coach, I was just a freshman, and you know he was amazing, you know, for us for four years. And you know the thing I tell everybody is he just went through the process. He was a great teammate, very very bright on the football field as far as football IQ and and learning the playbook and just was able to catapult his career at South Point Um into

another level. Well, well, you just reeled off a bunch of you know, the things and the qualities that you know people have been uh, you know, saying about him. But is there one of those things that kind of sticks out as to the reason he is you know who he is, and that you know he's got a chance of being, you know, a huge star in the NFL. Yeah, I mean obvious, there's a number of characteristics he has possesses. But he's very, very competitive and he

has this um. He's very confident, but very quiet confidence. You know, in all of our really the games against our toughest competitors, beach On always played really well. He never shies from competition. He loves to work and so I think for him, it's just that confidence that he knows he can do it, and his ability to work and go through the process and ultimately prepare, which gives him the opportunity to perform at the highest level.

He's just um has always prepared and then followed up with a great performance. Yeah. So this very dumb question, but have you tasted his mustard and have you driven in his cart and everything and everything else he's done. Yeah,

now, I'll tell you we um. I actually have not have the mustard yet, probably embarrassed to say that, but I know that as soon as he got drafted, I think there was a thousand bottles, like limit edition with black and red kind of Atlanta Falcons colors went out for sale or

whatever, and you know, I think those went like hotcakes. So that's been a very very neat venture for him off the field, and you know, I think he just, you know, he has fun with it, and he allows him to engage with with his fans and the people in the community, and he's going to be a huge hit in Atlanta. You know, he's just so engaging with people, and I know he's excited to be

down there. You know, he flew out the day after the draft to Atlanta, and I know he had a wonderful time meeting the people in the organization there. So as you know as a running as an NFL running back, now, I mean what, you know, what do you see what's going to make him really really good? Well, his versatility is I think second to none, and I you know, I think Atlanta recognizes that.

You know, he's obviously tremendous between the tackles. He makes guys miss in space, and I still don't think people realize how good of a ball catcher he is. I mean, he has elite hands and so I think, um, you know, they can put him in space, move him around, create matchup problems, and he'll be very difficult on NFL linebackers have to defend him in the past game. So he's very versatile. He can be used all over the field and I just think it, you know, the

falconsault. You know what tremendous value he's going to bring on the field. He's just not a uh, you know, cookie cutter type player. You know that he can play multiple positions and he's gonna be Um, he's gonna be a huge asset to their offense. Yeah, no question, whenn't they

drafted him? I thought that Tom they didn't need to get him, but they wanted him because they knew that he was the best player that could do a lot of different things for them, specifically, because when you don't need that type of player, but you're gonna go but you can't get what Yeah, they're saying, well, how can we do not get this guy? Yeah, I would agree with you. And I mean there was there.

Listen, there's so many talented kids there and and uh above him that you know, the seven that got drafted above him or tremendous and then obviously those that followed. But you know, yet he brings so much value off the

field into the locker room. He's always a great teammate. He's gonna be tremendous to that organization in the community, and I think, um, I think that's really you know, they got the entire package when they drafted Dijon, and you know, I think that's why they pulled the plug or pulled the trigger so early, was that you know, you're not getting just a running back. You know, you're getting a kid who's who's ready to be a professional, and he'll have a huge impact on and off the field,

and I don't know that you can put a price on that. Okay, his effect he's gonna have in a community, et cetera. Yeah, we can change gears just a bit. I know that you've been out at that point for a little while now, but you've been back in a school and that looks like you're having another reunion at that school with a bunch of coaches. Yeah. Yeah, So Al Alexander's a head coach at the saw Old High School, Tucson Sword and he was my assistant head coach for about ten

years at South Point and just a tremendous coach. Helped a lot of kids get to the next level. And so I was very happy that he stepped out and took the head coaching job. And yeah, so he he called me, and I was just, uh, it was time for me, you know too, in a different role. It fits what I'm doing now. And um and then uh so we've got a great staff. He's done a really good job. Cameron Denson's over there, you know, one of my former great players, an ex Wildcat, and um, Jay Dobbins is

back helping out. He's a sorel great and uh, you know it was recently the head coach at tank AVERTI. So you know, I think Al's doing a really great job at building a staff that can help him and support him and teach those kids. You know what it what it takes to to win and um and compete at a high level. So you know, you do a job like that, and there's a lot of guys that you know, Jay's been a head coach, You've been a head coach, a lot

of guys like that. How how do you pull all that together in terms of you know, how does everybody contribute? I guess and uh and still you know, allow Al to be, you know, the head coach. Yeah, and I think we've we've been around each other for a long time and obviously those guys were worked for me at South Point, so we know each other well. And I think you know, you check, you leave your ego at the door. You know, Al's the head coach and uh, you know he's a great, great friend, um, and but you

respect his title in his position. Ultimately, UM, the buck stops with him. I don't need to be the front guy anymore. Jay doesn't need to be the front guy anymore. You know, I was at head coach for nineteen years, and um, we had a heck of a run, and so we're you know, you just your job is the best of your ability. He knows, Al is confident that we uh will be prepared and then we can teach those kids at a high level. And it gives him

a lot of it takes it just takes stuff off his plate. And um, you knows, as you know, being a head coach you have you have a lot of responsibility off the field, and so so he doesn't have to worry about us on the field because he knows we'll get the job done for him. I know you've been back now this will be your second year.

But when you find when you left South Point, did you say, Okay, I'm done, I'll see you later, I'll see it in the review mirror, or did the juices start flowing quickly and you said I got to get back. Yeah. That it was a little mixed bag of feelings. I mean, I just was, like I said, I was at South Point for twenty one years and and I enjoyed Uh, I enjoyed it. Man, it was a great, great run. But I needed to

step away and and just take a break. And I think a couple of years, um, you know, I was able to kind of catch my breath. And and now I'm in a position where, uh, you know, Alt asked me to come out earlier and I and I never did. I kind of kept turning them down. And then I went out to one practice and I told my wife, I said, listen, I think I'm

gonna help all out, maybe a one or two days a week. And then it one or two days is turned into seven, you know, and so the next thing, you know, she's like, oh man, you're back at it again. And I just kind of, you know, I smiled, and I said, it's just Al and I get along so well. We worked so well together. I really enjoy being around him and being around those kids. They're they're a great group of kids. So yeah, it's been fun. She must really love you. Yeah, yeah, it's

as usual. Thank you very much, congratulating on everything. That's right. Well, I appreciate it. Thank you so much for having me. Keep up the great work and all the best. You guys appreciate you know it. It's great because you know, guys like that's when you realize that you know, they were doing that stuff because they loved showing that stuff. Right. Hey, welcome back toy on the About Gerald Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve, He's Jake, got a boy ja Noah, Noah. Lets you know it today on a Monday, Um, I was

gonna was good tuck to coach put it. We really don't tuck to them, maybe much, but you know see, I'm gonna tuot our horn here for a little bit because one of the great things that we do is that you know that we're you know, we'll have high school coach and we'll have high school athletes, pe mccollege, Um, you know, just community people come on this show because I don't know that how many shows do that, right, you know, you know, uh, none here and I think

you know, to give you know, coaches like you know Dennis Benet, Heather Moore, Martin who's coming on later, Um, you know, the the all the you know, the Jay Dobbins, and you know we've had you know, any one of a number of local coaches. And it could be any sport, right, it doesn't have to be football, doesn't have

to be basketball. It's beach, volleyball, golf, it's tennis, whatever, all the all the various coaches that you know at the other sports at the OVA that you know they get to come on our show and get to talk about themselves because we know they love to do that. You know, they love to have people here about what they do. You know, you don't have to be tied through the program to know about it. You can

listen to our show and you can hear some of that stuff. So I want to you know, bend break my arm and Pattison the back a little bit because I think it's one of the one of the cool things that we do. Okay, I agree with you. We give a forum to talk about stuff like that. Yeah. In fact, who's our gifts in the second hour? Well, I've had their more Martin U. South Point Beach

Volleyball coach won their third straight state championship. Um, you know, and I mean, you know, her program was the one that kind of started beach volleyball in Tucson. So you know, they've gotten it going and they're really good at it, and she's good at it, and so you know, give her an opportunity to come and talk about her team. And you know who you know, these players, I mean, they don't even get in the paper anymore, right because you know, the paper has gotten so

small. So this is kind of the only way for for people to find out some of the great things that some of these other programs are doing in Tucson. Yeah, you know, we'll get the you know, um Pema Pema golf. You know a boy A men's golf won the division regional championship again. You know, we'll you know, we'll get we'll get Marcus Smith on the show, their coach, you know, who's like twelve years old. He'll come on, come on and talk about you know, his team.

So I love doing that shock nut shop that he's doing so well we do that. I want to have a conversation with you about about the Suns. Can they play in Denver? It's gonna be tough to win up in Denver again for Game two, but they'll probably play better. And I think they what happened, but what happened on Saturday? Right they put on Saturday um or Friday? Uh? Was they had to POUM pissed off? M DeAndre Aden. You saw he got some serious dude, did you see that

video? I saw that play. I was watching the game. What are you doing? I was watching the game. But he's gotten that criticized him pretty much all so he's a watcher, not a going game. He isn't aggressive enough, and um, we'll see if that kind of pushes him. But a lot of people he's like that polarizing guy. You'd either like him or you don't like him, and a lot of people don't because he's not aggressive that whole I mean, I gets somebody said, well that's you know,

ten seconds out of his whole season. Well, how many other times did he do that? And how didn't get caught you know on a viral video ten seconds moments? Right, how many of those have there been? You know, and to get caught in a playoff game just kind of standing there. You know, I don't know if he was gassed or what, but it was like, yeah, I don't know, you know, you can't, you can't do that. What was the number one thing here?

He just didn't play motivated while or time he took time off, you know, you would take time off in a game or for an entire game. And that was the knock on him here. And now this thing comes out that is going to be really hard to shake. Ever. Right now he's got to come in and play very hard against against Denver tonight. I think you will, because you know, you got to pot almost a pride him and poke him to do this. And that was pretty pretty evident, yeah,

you know, because it was out there. Yeah, I mean just uh, you know, certainly all of a sudden, I mean, because look, everybody's been saying the Sun's you know, their favorite. Yet I throw I throw my money on the Nuggets right now, you're not going to since you already had. I'm not gonna jinx you. But you know, if I if you said, you know, pick the winner of this series, I would say, you know, nuggets in five or six. Yeah, because you just felt like almost like more of their guys wanted a whole

lot more. It's a different thing that Murray Murray hadn't played the last couple of years and people saying, well, Denver, Denver is gonna do what Denver does. Well, Murray was involved the last couple of years, and the dude can play. Yeah, it's funny. You know, you don't see these guys very often until the plaoffs Murray Fox from Sacramento fantastic. But then the King, the King shows up. Yeah, and he does it with style. Uh when did you read the article about his pregame speech.

No, it was a great article because you know my Steph Cray. Yeah, it was in the Athletic Um and what what it was was that you know, basically says Steph Cray doesn't do that. He's not the speech giver. You know, he's more of a guy that that. Uh, you'll go up one on one with a guy, say hey, look, you know, but that um um he It's a great story, but it goes on. It talks about how Steph Curry could not sleep and all of a

sudden, um um um. What's his name, M. Draymond Green texts him, texted him like at four o'clock in the morning, and they were both awake and they started talking to each other and Draymond said, I need to talk to the team, and Steph Curry said, I got this. I'm going to talk to him, and then he had he gave this speech that it was. It was the players took it in the way that you would hope they would because he doesn't give those speeches, so it was meaningful

because it doesn't ever happen. And he basically said, if you're not on board, you know, to go do this, then don't even get on the bus. Is banksy what he said? And apparently they all took it to heart and went out and you know, beat the hell out of those guys and won that game. But it's a great story just talking about how that's not that's not Steph Curry's character to give the talk that he gave to try and get his team to play that it was it was unusual, and

what the reason that it worked was because it was unusual. So it was

very cool. Yeah. Yeah, Like I said, you have hunting back people who aren't too young, don't nobody if he talks, he got hunt and talks people listening, you know, he was you know, and so and it was you know, when when you've got a guy like that on your team, who's, as you said, the king, right, one of the top ten players ever in the NBA, and all of a sudden he's giving you this impassioned plea to do everything you can to win the next game. How do you not you know, how do you not? Sure?

Sure? Of course, because you respect the hell out of him, right right, and you want him to respect you right right. No, No, we had, we had, we had Harvey Mason on. It's a lot like Steve. When do you play for Steve? It's back and forth. You don't want to disappoint, You don't want disappoint, and if you don't, he'll respect you because you because you didn't him. Yeah.

Absolutely, yeah, I thought it was really it's a great article. It was in the Athletics Look for a couple of different people wrote it, you know, wrote the same thing. I'm presuming he talked about it in the Prescot, but in the Athletic story was kind of an in depth story about it, you know, when and talk to Daymond Green talked to some other players about doing that and how meaningful it was that he picked the perfect time to do that because it wasn't looking good for them. You know, you

lose at home in game six. Now you got to go on the road and win game seven. You've been a terrible road team all year long. You had to do something special, on something different to let me ask you. You have five minutes, anybody want to call and get us a sneak calling. So I was in a discussion before the game yesterday and and guy said, well, Charles, Charles Barkley has never been right since like in college general, I can't remember he picked up Sacramento of the Legs. It's

an early game. The old guys don't won't be ready. I'm taking come on, really, And it's not that they've been there before. Sacramento hadn't been before. And I don't even believe in that. I just Golden State when pressed, when pressed to show who they are, they're gonna show up. As who they are, right and and did you believe at all youth versus experience. No, I think what I what I thought it was was that, you know, uh, Golden State just has they have the best

players. Okay, you know they may not have a team have shown that, but they were gonna put the best team on the court, and so all they had to do was do what they were capable of and they were gonna win the game. The question is where they're gonna do what they were capable of, because they didn't do it the week, the day, you know, the game before. So whatever happened, you know, they didn't. They didn't beat They didn't beat Sacramento at home when you feel like they

should have. So all of a sudden, you don't know if they're gonna show up. So I could see where Charles said, you know they're not gonna show up, but they did. No, Yeah, and you knew they were gonna show up. You knew they were. I mean, they played well. Thompson was horrible in the first half. He was like four two for thirteen or level. And they still would right, right, And

that's what you texted. I didn't bet on it. I think fantastic, And I said, they played really close without him playing well, right, and and other guys. Ludy was fantastic. Other guys stepped up. Imagine if Thompson would have played very well, which I think he will eventually. This team has still kind of special. I don't think they're gonna win it, but they're still very special. You have to do a lot to knock these guys off. You do you do because because again for the most for

the most part, they're gonna have the better team on the floor. So so you got to do something extraordinary to beat that, and especially to beat him in a seven game series, and when all the pieces fit for one game, and that's what it was. Watch out, Watch Out a Sacramento. These kids is an up and comer and team. Though they need more helped near the basketball, they'll be fine. The team that I saw yesterday with the Golden State, Yeah, yeah, we'll beat the Suns and we'll

beat the Nugget. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know about that. So we'll get there. We'll get there. They got to get past the Lakers. I think that'll happen in six or something. But we'll talk when that happen. Definitely. Um, it should be fun because you don't know because you know, uh so it'll be fun. It'll be fun. I'm not even paying attention to the East, which I maybe should't, but but I like, well I like Denver and Golden State, so we'll see.

Yeah, yeah, okay, what else? Anything else? You know? Baseball? Did you watch baseball? You ate baseball? Holy moly, I happened after the game. I kind of started flipping channels yesterday and I caught them. They had a two point two run lead in the eighth and they were they were grinding it, they were gonna win it, and then they lost. They lost the lead, and then they got it back and then blew it again. I'm taking holy crap. I mean, either they're

snake bit, they just don't have the talent or whatever. But it's just unsteady. They got swept by Oregon State, which is not a bad program, but they've had them, they've had them. They yeah, they they You feel like they've been playing well enough to win, but then they just don't win, just just don't win. And that happens, you know, when you just don't know how to win. There are times when you just don't win. You just don't. Yeah, I agree with you. I

agree with you. And it's you know, and the thing is that it's it's it's a thing that's both both softball and baseball are going through the they just haven't had the clutch pitching that they've needed, you know, softball kind of you know, they had a nice weekend, you know, win two out of three, put themselves in a position to not get a horrible seat

in the Pac Puff Tournament. Maybe they can still get into the NC Double A's, but just you don't, you know, I mean I saw a stat that the relief pitching has like a six r A or something like that for base baseball. Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, they're starter and the guy that came in to relieve in the eighth got hit. The stopper got

hit. It's must be frustrating. It as all heck to Chip Hall because you saw him in the background, Like I'm thinking, would you rather be at the Major he's going through one hundred Yeah, Yeah, I don't know, man, I know, losing sucks when you lose like that, though, it really sucks, Yeah, it does. It's it's it's awful. It's awful and just you know what, like you said, when you think you've got games one or um, yeah yeah, you know and and uh,

stuff like that happens. Yeah yeah, crazy that you just started self doubting, so you do. Hey, we got twenty seconds, all right, uh all right, we we got to get out of here the top of the hour and we're gonna come back. We'll have breaking news from Knowing
