Breaking down all the exes at all. It's Steve Rivera and Jagen Salvins. This is I on the Ball on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Hey, welcome back to one of the mall hero Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Steve, He's Jays and now we have Kevin with breaking Newsis I on the Ball Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. All right, so, as of yesterday, Arizona's women's basketball team is officially into the Dance. They're not in a bracket yet, but they're in the first four in right, right, Well,

don't tell Ada that you said it like that to her. They are in the tournament and she should be heard her should be But I'm a fan, she said, she said, don't call her a play in game. We're in the tournament, is what she said. And she will kick your ass for saying that. Fine, like she notices that stuff. She admitted it too. No, what a fantastic story continues to be when this game wow, yeah, continue to get better? Yeah? Go, you know,

go win a game that counts as far as anybody else is concerned. Right, So, no, it might be one of the best stories across any sport in the nation. Right now. Yeah, yeah, you know they're gonna they're gonna go over there with seven players and uh and take a shot at it. Right they got Auburn. Yeah, well she's actually contributed to the to the favorability, if that's the right word for everyone saving money. Uh in athletics, she's only taking eleven players. Yeah, exactly, travels

Low. Yeah, you know, congratulations to them, you know, to getting in. I mean they were up against it the whole second half of the year, running out of running out of players, and uh, you know, good for them that they're in the tournament. So we'll be the will be the good Tucson fans and say, you're in the n cub A

tournament. You're not in the play. So the related news to that though, today transfer portal saw that Caitlin Gilbert in the transfer portal, So okay, she's not with the team anyways at the end, is in the officially in the transfer port Anybody, anybody come out with any ideas as to where she might be going next. I would assume that now she would be in the same situation, right, she's gonna play if she's if she's gonna play, she said that she may not be playing situation. Yeah, the Natesmith

Trophy. Caleb Love was officially announced as a semi finalist. There you go, joining a list of a bunch of other star players from around the country like Dalton Connect his former teammate R. J. Davis. Which which award is just play next with? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, because he's in the top ten and Wooden you vote, I think I give you a vote. I think I have a vote because he used to be the state rep. They just eliminated all that. Well, this is before you were a

vote. That's right. I vote for the Heisman and you don't. So there. Let them let him know, ja, let them exactly. I had to throw something out there, right, he's making me look bad. You don't have a vote. Oh I thought you had a vote, No, you don't. Who are you? Speaking of college football. UFA's game versus Houston on November fifteenth is going to be on a Friday this year. Yeah. When the schedule came out that was a Friday or Saturday Friday,

and then officially Friday soon right before. And also they've got a game. I think there's another game. There's another game on the schedule that was also listened as a Thursday or Friday. But there's one hasn't announce We got that announcement through Houston. Yeah. The one that you're maybe you thinking of is the Kansas State game on the road. That's right, Yeah, that's right, that's the one where to go. Nice pool pulled up. You did

I cheated? Cheated? That's all right, It didn't. Nobody knows that you're you're you know that you're cheating over the over the Yeah, that's still listened as a Friday or Saturday game. Yeah. Leighton vander USh, the longtime Dallas Cowboys, officially retired due to his persistent neck injuries after that nasty play from Trent Williams a couple of years ago. Next, just man, you just don't want next problems on you once you're going on again, it's

only a matter man. Sports Illustrated is going to be making somewhat of a comeback. We don't know in what capacity exactly yet, but they have been purchased by a new a new group that is going to be doing interviews with the current employees to see who's going to be retained and who's gonna be like going, oh, I know it is it's it's the same company that does

Players Tribune and that encourage encourage. But yeah, they're gonna but they say they're gonna be doing them the hard copy magazine, on the shelf magazine. So that's a big deal. I'll suspect you that I love, man, I love getting that magazine. I couldn't wait for it. Couldn't wait for it. You get your little jacket because you know, hey, okay, one year that when I renewed my subscription, all right, one year they gave out a shaving kit. Right when you were twelve? No no,

no, no, no, no, no, I was. I was in the I was no, I was traveling. In fact, I probably all the way back to when I was covering sports, and it was a you know, a traveling kid. Yeah, like a shaving kit. Right. I still use it. It's it's the It's the best free gift I've gotten for any you know, subscription or whatever that you you know, T shirts that you'd get or whatever. I've had that for thirty some years and

I love it. I still use it. It was on the road with me this last this last weekend probably needs to be cleaned out a little bit. I was gonna say you should probably find the manufacturer and just get a new one. I love it's got the it's got the SI logo on it and the whole bit. Man, you can't okay, you can't get new one of those. Saint John's, Oklahoma and Pittsburgh were among some of the teams to decline the invites to the n i T tournament that's making its round.

Yeah, did you see the rant by the former Indiana coach uh Crean, Tom Crean, he really I agree with him. Wouldn't you want to play in the tournament? I know it's secondary and who cares, but so I just want to get more games. One of the reasons why Arizona plays in a not a festival, but a second level ball Get more practices,

right, you get a game, the guys can play more. Obviously need the practice if you didn't get into the NCAA tournament, right, and you get some sort of important I'm doing air quotes experience that's different than just another regular season. But on the other hand, yes, I was there doing stats when Arizona lost Bucknell at McHale Center in the first round. Nobody in the building, nobody wanted to be there no one want, including the including

the Arizona game. Totally totally get and that's one of the last times they played in the NIT the old season. Yeah, they no, I get it. I get it. So it's it's hard, you know. I guess if you have a really young team and you can sell it to him. Look, you know you can leave you do this thing right, and you can leave this season with a good taste in your mouth. You can, you know, give us something to think about over the course of the

you know, over the off season. But if you've got a bunch of you know, fift year guys and stuff, I can say I don't want to play anymore because there's guys like that. Oh yeah, there're guys like that who go to the NCAA tournament and don't give a craft Arizona Arizona twenty eighteen. Yeah, no, no question. I can see right now Patino saying, and I t let's get the hell out of here and let me go back to the Italian restaurant, right A friend, the deal. Let's

move on from this. I have a guessing game for you guys to play really quickly. Okay, what does Caleb Love and Kim Kardashian have it now in common? Oh no, I don't want to. I don't want to. I know an answer, Well, what is Caleb Love Kim Kardashian have in common? That's a good one. I don't know. They both work for her company, Skims. He's not one of the college basketball star like n I L influencer, So he's making money off of her. He's making

money off of her brands. The men's line that's coming out there. They got a bunch of colors. But with this story, well, I mean, she it's it's out there. I mean they dropped the whole promotional video with him, Jared Caine and Donovan Klingen, Hunter Dickinson and Robert Dillingham and Pat Paxson Wojic from UNC as well. He's now a big fashion guy. Good for him. Make make the money while you can. And I saw I saw something on social media, but no, Fafida is uh is doing

for somebody Supercuts Supercuts? Yeah, yeah, I saw that prostually a bunch of big brands in the ARIZONNL Hulu with Boswell Boswell Supercuts with and now Kim Kardashian's very own Skims. Well, you know, what for somebody who is otherwise not worth a crap. She's done really well. She has no redeeming qualities other than the fact that she's figured out how to make a lot of money. Okay, that's just met even that, leaving that on the table, Kim sending the notes to him, not to me. I got.

I got an argument with it with somebody who thought the Kardashians they're awesome. Great. He said, Okay, tell me what they contribute to our society and she could She had no girl, Yeah, she had no answer. Well, they make money, I said, okay, so everybody that makes money is great. So it was a young girl apparently, No, No, it was a mom. It was it was a school mom. It was the mom of you know some kids that our kids went to school and

no about how great Kim the Kardashians are. And this I said, Okay, what are they doing for this country? What are they doing for society? What are they doing? Yeah? No, no, but I mean what people out of jail? How are they actually how are they making this world better? And she had no answer. I mean for a long time probably, but you know, Paris, Hilton, all them that they just

look you touched the nerves today. You did set me off. Peest Jakovich's son Andre Sto Yakovich is in the transfer portal from He played at Stanford Stafford. He was good, Yeah, he was good. I remember he torched him the first he did. But Steve, he's averaging seven points a game. Hey, if you don't feel comfortable with Stanford, maybe you don't want

to study. If you're if I was gonna he must be it because I'm saying, if I'm his dad, I'm saying you're gonna make more money coming out of with a degree from Stanford than you're ever gonna make him basketball because you suck. I can I is there a lightning data? Sat Away an NBA player, but not right now. Who knows he's gonna be an NBA player? Is Lebron who exactly now? His dad was an NBA guy.

He maybe he's not gonna need the money that he would need with a degree from Stanford, So he says his dad's yeah, go ahead, go for somewhere else if you want to play some more. But it's my kid, Dude, You're not leaving Stanford. Dad, You're not the bust of me. Yes, I am I'm nineteen twenty years old, all right, then paying me back for everything I supported you with that, I don't even know who you are. Emancipated? Get his number? How do you get his

number? You still got more? Yeah, one way. Chase Young just signed with the Saints. So he's going from the Commanders to the Niners and now he's signing for thirteen million dollars on a one year, fully guaranteed contract with the New Orleans say too much with the Niners. I mean it was that big a deal. It's hard to get going when you joined a team

mid season, mid seas. Yeah, you didn't do a lot. Hard to get going a lot, that's all so so okay, So the brackets are going to be done, you know, and talk about our stop. So if you're a guy, just a normal dude, and you don't watch college basketball but you're still kind of interested, who would you pay attention to to help you fill out your bracket? Are there so so called experts out

there? Well, there's people who think they're Well my point is, what would you do if if there are, if you think there are, who would you go to? Would you listen? I listened to a lot of people and I but but again, I guess their information and then I use that information to decide what I'm going to do. Because j Billis is picking somebody to win the tournament, I'm not picking them because Jay Bill. But what I'm saying is, why did Jay Billis pick these guys or why did

jay Billis not pick these guys or something like that. I'll filter that and I'll listen to it, and then in the end, I'll put it all together, and then I'll put out a bracket that sucks because that's what I do. Doesn't everyone though, actually actually won a poll not that long ago, and there were like three hundred people which which year was that. Oh God, I'd have to go back, and but it's probably I'd say probably three four years ago. It was before I started doing this show, So

at least three years ago, maybe maybe more. Do we think that Colorado can get into the official bracket? I think they can win. I picked them to beat the Oregon I thought, I thought, I okay, I've told you know. We were having this conversation about kJ Simpson and I thought he absolutely did not deserve to be Player of the Year over Caleb. And I still believe that. But he's really good. He's really good. Well to be considered in the same breath as Caleb, you must be. He's

really good. And I've like Tristan to Silva since last year. You know, he's really good. The two dudes at Oregon who played really well, Curson and Dante, they had nice games. Those guys are really good. I'll tell you who doesn't. I'll tell you doesn't impress me. It's Cody Williams and guys like a considered like a top ten mma And I'm like, I don't. Maybe he would start for Arizona. But just the fact that I'm saying maybe he would start for Arizona tells you. Why is he a

lottery pick or not even a lottery pick, a top ten pick. Somebody's got the number seven pick in the draft. Well, to be fair, he's not the best player on their team. You know someone In fact, I know who it is, Kevin O'Connor from the Ringer. He had read Shepherd as that I'm going overall pick. Yes, So I don't know how much we can really, But the thing is, Kevin, when when when you get your name on those people think that of you, Whether you deserve

to be thought of like that or not. You talked about it months ago with the with the football recruiting. It's like, what does it matter having a big class, Right, let's go and no, we gotta get to Sean. But to go, what about we are gonna put up a uh tournament bracket. We'll talk more about it here in the rest of the show, but we were being asked on social media. Yes, we are gonna

have a bracket. Uh, you'll the prize will be a dinner with Steve and I. Whether that makes you want to fill out a bracket, but more than anything, we'll have fun with it. It'll be that's first price. It'll first prizes. First prize is Steve is dinner with Kevin. Anyways, we'll give it a first prize. It will be an online bracket, so you don't have to fill out of bracket and scan it and send it in. We're gonna set it up tonight. We'll post it on our social

media, so uh look for that. We'll talk about a little bit more later on in the show, but in the meantime, we're gonna have Seawan Elliott coming on, rate John Alliy coming on in about five minutes. A stick around and we'll get some of his thoughts on the tournament and the pack pot. Stick around. The Window Depot is more than a Windows store. So Sean, you know, uh, you know, the first time I want to talk about it, not to start on the downer, but I'm gonna start on the downer. You know, the end of the PAC twelve. You know, we're both Steve and

I were up in Vegas for the tournament. A lot of sad faces around there, but a lot of people talking about the history and stuff, you know, the PAC twelve. I mean, it's it's gone under. I mean, what does that mean to you somebody who was such a face not just of Arizona, but really of the conference. Yeah, I mean I'm

saddened by it, There's no question about it. I'm I kind of like tradition, you know, as you get older, you just kind of like tradition in the like classicism, and I you know, I'm going to miss the rivalries. I'm gonna miss looking forward to Arizona UCLA Arizona issue, just even the football games, Arizona issue. That's what I look forward to. I'm always hoping that I had the day af during the season that I can watch the Arizona ASSU football game. So I'm gonna I don't know what issue

is doing. I don't know if they're going or not. Ye are right now? Okay, yeah, right now. I'm so confused as to who's where? I mean, but that's everywhere, right, I mean. I was talking to a friend of mine on the golf course the other day. I said, well, at least I'm gonna get to see Arizona complay Texas and he's invited. He's like, no Texas in the sec So they moved. So I'm like, well, I mean, what do I have to look forward to? I don't know. I just kind of wish things would

have remain the same. But at the end of the day, it's all about the dollar and that Trump's everything. Right. No, well you got Houston? Are you got Baylor? There? You I have to take a road trip to Waco, maybe go to Lubbock, catch cat those love far right up the street? Don't you have a private playing? Oh what else? What are you talking about? Man? That's for people like you. I love you, man, Hey, what are the secrets to winning the

national title? And not that you guys got far a couple of times, but you know, it got to be healthy. It was always healthy. Lucky guard play all this stuff. Oh, you have to get lucky. You have to be lucky, and it's got to be the right timing. Yeah. I always feel like an double a tournament not always the best team wins. Lots of times, you know, you have a team that's just hitting a sweet spot or hitting a hot streak, a little heater, and

they're the team that ends up winning the tournament. They're the national champions. That aba team, to me, was the best team in the country. We were the best team. We proved it. We beat everybody, We went to everybody's court, we beat teams from every conference. We had a bad shooting night one night and that was the end of our run eighty nine.

I thought we had the team to do it too. I'm not sure if we were the best team, but I felt in my heart like we were just maybe because it was my senior year and we get a fluky shot that beats us in Denver and we end up losing. So you got to get lucky. Your timing has to be right, and you have to be playing your best at the right time. And that's why I think it is what it takes. Yeah, you know you just said it that you thought the eighty eight team was the best team in the country that year, and

I think a lot of people thought that. So how do you square you know, what happened? You know, how do you think about that tournament? You know, at the end of the day, are you you know, does it make you sad to think about it? You're very proud of what you did? A little of both. You were the first Arizona team to get to the final four. When you think back to that season, how does it sit in your brain? It's a combination of boats. It's

a little of both. Actually. I mean I know that there are guys on that team that are still disappointed that we didn't win all these years later. Yeah, I'm certainly proud of what we did, but it kind of felt like it was unfinished business. You know that November and December, Billy Packer said was the best in the history of college basketball. Yeah, we came from nowhere to become number one, and we beat the number one team. We went to Iowa at number two when we were number three and beat

them. We beat Duke, could beat Carolina, and so we were kind of we kind of had a different mindset. I mean, we were going out every game to prove something, to prove that we were the best,

and we really felt like we were the best. We just had a great combination of guys, and I think when you look at our team, more than anything, it wasn't the talent, the combination, it was the family and the family atmosphere, the friendships that that team fostered and still remain today, still remain today where we all still have, you know, an affection and love for each other, and we just you know, that carried over into the way we played on the court, and we just really enjoyed each

other's company. We we loved being and hanging around each other, and we really felt like we were playing for each other. And you know, I know that a lot of us still feel, you know, just a little bit of disappointment in our hearts because we felt like we should have gotten it done. I'm hoping you can answer this question. Have you seen Caleb Love

play one and two? A bunch of sportswriters, including Matt Miilbach, you know, in your line of work, we're talking and said, I said, I don't think Loot would have been comfortable with Caleb Love doing what he does all the shots, the distance and the shots. So have you seen him shoot? Have you seen him play? Yeah, okay, that's I

happened. So I saw him when Carolina went on that run a couple of years back, and then I this year, I've only I'll be honest with you, see this year it's been a weird year scheduling wise, where I haven't really gotten a chance to watch them play very much because where they're playing, when they're playing or we're traveling, why when they were playing. But yes, it takes you know, it takes a lot of long three balls. Yeah, a lot of shots that maybe coach and a frown upon.

But he's he's a really good player and he manages to get the job done. I mean he's the the fact told Player of the Year, so he's doing something right. Yeah. I think it's a it's a different game now, you know. It's uh. I watch it at our level. I watch guys that are consistently looking to shoot the three ball instead of taking the ball to the basket. I mean I see the modern da NBA break in three on two. Both wings run to three point lines that run to the

basket, try to get a dunk or a layup. So that's just the nature of it. I think that's the way the game has evolved. And it doesn't mean it's evolved for the better, but that's the way the game's evolved. Yeah. So yeah, we'll go to that question real quick. You can ask question. Let me let me ask you quick. Because you mentioned your name came up. He said, Well, if he were to ever allow that to happen, I think he did it for three guys.

You maybe your sophomore year because he needed you to do that. Jason Terry in ninety nine when he needed him to do that and became college Player of the Year and then Bayless who who he didn't coach him because Ko coached him when he was out. But you know, sometimes you need to let guys do that because they need they need them. Yeah, well, let me correct you onto one thing. I would say my senior year because when I was a sophomore coach olsen. I think I left practice three or four times

that year, went to my dorm in tears. He told me about that, told he was on my ass every day every day. Yeah. I had to call Scott Thompson one day and I said, coach him. What in the world's going on, and he said, hey, it's only because Coach seems potential in you, and he's that's why he's on you. He wants you to do everything right and he wants you to be the best as you can be. He said, you better start worrying when he does it,

yell at you. Yeah, by my senior year, I could take those shots if I wanted to. Is a game, if you know, I could break off a play or the offense if I wanted to, and Coach wasn't going to say anything. I mean, look at a shot against Duke in the Meadowlands my senior year. That wasn't the play. I was bringing the ball to the court. I saw Danny Ferry off me. I didn't have a particularly good shooting night, but I felt like in the moment, I could take that shot. So I was allowed that leeway by the

time I was a senior. And so, yeah, he's had other players, Dodo Meyer, Damu's daughter, Khalid Reeves. Who else are you mentionings Terry Jason Terry, Jason Terry, maybe Miles Simon the way he played in his last year there too. So yeah, but you have to earn that you'd have to earn that with coaching. If you show that you were smart, smart and you knew the situation and you're consistently taking crazy shots, he

would live with it. Yeah, when you look at a guy like Caleb Love and I guess I'll ask it this way, you know, that's what you have to be able to take that shot and make that shot in the NBA anymore? Is Caleb Love and NBA guard? You know you were in the NBA. I mean, I know it's a different time, but do you see Caleb Love playing in the NBA. Oh, he has the size and he has the ability, that's for sure. I'm sure that somebody is going to draft him. Will not be shocked to see him drafted in the

first round. He's played for two great programs obviously, in North Carolina and Arizona. He's been successful both places. So he's a talented young man and he knows how to play the game. I suspect when he gets in, you know, somebody would probably rain that in a little bit where maybe show him or impose a little bit more to discipline on the shop making, because he's going to be out there with a lot of other really good players.

When you make it to the NBA, it's a whole different level of basketball, and so he's got to be able to play within the framework of the team. But I would say yes, I would say yeah. I mean, I would definitely say that Kata Love is an NBA player. Okay, listen, Yeah, we'll just tell us real quick and then we know we've got to let you talk about National kidney months. But what do you think

of this team? I mean not predicting how far they'll go, just what do you like and maybe what do you don't like about this team this year? I would have to rely on you know, my my contacts there who keep me updated, and they say that the team has the talent. They have the talent. It's just the consistency that's That's the biggest thing that my guys worry about back at home. I mean, if you can get some a little bit more on court leadership, they're talented enough to win the whole

thing. They've got nice interior play, bottles really come along. Of course, you have the PAC twelve Player of the Year right and bollow So you know, I've seen some spectacular plays from I want to say it was Keishaw Johnson. Uh and so I you know, it's just you just can never tell. And I'm always pull in for my my guys from my Arizona team, no matter where they're standing out, no matter how good they are, I just would love to see them remain consistent. Uh. And you know

I will tell you this. I'm a huge fan of Tommy Lloyd's. I saw him last year with his team. I saw how he conducted the film session with him, I saw how he was disciplined with him. I really enjoyed what he was doing as a co So I think he's one of the better coaches in the country. And if you have that kind of staff on the sidelines, you always have a great chance. Just before the kidney thing, let me ask you selfishly, So, I got a couple quick stories

for the book, and thank you for doing the book. I'm sure you got one already or you were sent one at least. So, Sean, I'm doing the book and I have twenty four guys, right, and I needed twenty fifth and it's of course it's going to be Sean, and I had no problem. I'll find Sean. Sean was the last dude after so many months. I had to find him in Mexico. He's scary that but Gemi's out of me because I'm chasing tracking him down forever. He knows this

too, right, he knows this, dude. And one of the best stories in it is when when Schlute made him cry. It was the New Mexico game. I think your sophomore year that was UNLB when you took when you took control or somehow you shouldn't have. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I broke it off, broke off the play, took a bad shot at the end of the game, and coach came in and yelled at me and told me, who do I think I am? I don't trust my teammates, and yeah, that was one of wasn't one of my favorite college memories,

but he was he was right. I mean, he was right. And that was a year where we didn't have we didn't have you know, that kind of that veteran leadership, uh you know, and so I uh took it upon myself to take a shot. It wasn't so good, didn't work out very well, and coach let me have it. So that was one of many that season. Actually Coach was on my butt, but it

was also the better. You know, by the time I got to my senior year, coach Olsen, if I took a bad shot, which I did, take care many of I'll be honest, Uh, he just you wouldn't he wouldn't say anything. He had not. Plus he wouldn't buy you McDonald's broger. That's right, he will you buy me the burger. But I had to give my receipt and my change back to I was like, are you kidding? It's crazy? Okay, Sean, so well know you

know your health situation. You had a kidney transplant years ago. Made a great comeback to the NBA toss about National Kidney Month and what you're doing. Yeah, every March, I team up with a healthcare company for Sinia's Kidney Care and we just are just trying to spread the word and shine of spotlight was on a national crisis and that's chronic kidney disease. at twenty five. You know, I think everybody kind of knows my story, but a lot of people don't really know the intricacies in my story. How I started feeling symptoms at twenty five years old. I had a transplant in nine August of nineteen ninety nine. But the problem with kidney disease is that when you start to feel the symptoms that it's already advanced. And so right now you have one in seven American adults that have chronic kidney disease.

That's thirty five million people. Thirty five million. The problem is nine out of ten people don't know they have kidney disease. Symptoms haven't presented themselves yet. So I'm working with for Sidneous Kidney Care. You can go to vicinious kidneycare dot com and you'll see my ugly mug up there. My story is there. I mean, there's no excuse right now to be blindsided the way I was blindsided at twenty five years old. So get yourself tested. Go to Forresidious Kidneycare dot com. You can check it out if you have any questions.

They have recipes, they have all kinds of treatment plans for people that are diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. There's no excuse. There are so many people walking around right now with kidney disease, and if you get on it early, it's a game changer. So talk to your doctor about getting tested. There you go, Well, we'll put that website up on our social media

for Sinius Kidney Care. I'm looking at your mug. Good looking photo of you there, Sean looks like so you know, I mean, I mean, what the hell I mean, Steve and I you should see it. You haven't seen it, and we look our age and older. You still look like you could play. Come on, I I it's all. It's

all. It's all fake man. It's great makeup, eating right, uh, you know, working out four or five days a week, getting out in the sunshine on the golf course, having low stress job and like, yeah, lots of makeup and the proper lighting you lost when you said me, when you said working out, that ended it for me to Sean. Thanks a bunch of we hopeful a degree get you a job. I appreciate you. Thanks about see, I appreciate you all. He's always good.

Subscribe now to the podcast on the iHeartRadio wipp Just Surgery I on the Ball. Hey, welcome back to Win the Ball Hero, Fox Sports fourteen fifty on Steve. He's Jay Clevin with us. If you guys want to call five two oh four one six seventy four forty. It was fun to get ahold of Sean. Yeah, it was great. Uh, we'll go wind to get him for

a long time. And you know we both had our experiences with him. You've had you know, he's been done stuff with your book. You know, I covered his two year two of his four years here the are he actually eighty six, eighty seven and then the eighty eight eight a forwards for my third book too well looke. Yeah, so just you know, just a good guy, always has been local guy, he's made it big. I think he's got a decent job those game. Yeah, he does this

all right. Let's take this call hire on the air and on the ball. Yeah, James, Hey, James, Hey, you guys doing We're good? How are you? What's up? What's the Vegas? Obviously a little disappointed on how it turned out, but it was good to see all the U of A fans just about everywhere on the strip. Right, But what'd you say? Did you stay on Saturday? Yeah? I say I came back Sunday. Did you go to the game on Saturday? And now so we're at tickets but I decided not to go? Were you mad?

Frustrated? Shrug your shoulders? How did you take the loss? It's pretty disheartening. You know, this is the last PAC twelve and you know it's been nice to get a three pizza ended out. But you know, one game at the time, one game at a time, and hopefully you have a can bounce back for the tournament. But I do have to say I think that is Jay has a bad take on the UH on what's in Boswell playing at the poker table. That's unacceptable. I think he should be suspended

a game. Who knows that. Yeah, I mean, yeah, who knows it might happen. We we just don't know. Ka we bring up you know, loud Olson's theirs and stuff. I don't think ud Olson would have been okay with that scenario. No, no, you can't assume anything. But no, I don't think so. Maybe the only other thing, as you guys were talking about, Uh, Tommy Lloyd, you know he hasn't uh he hasn't done well the first three years versus d Olson didn't do

first three years. He wasn't playing that. I didn't do as well. But you know, Ludelson built the built the whole foundation. So it's a little bit different. But if if Shaun Elliott says he's a great coach, then I trust him. There you go, there you go. All right, James, Hey appreciate it. Thanks about Oh what do you think of the women where? Uh? Oh yeah, that's awesome. I'm glad they

made the tournament. They're actually in the tournament. Know they are in the tournament, and I think they're gonna beat Auburn and you see what happens from there. They have a great story. Uh. Dia really pulled it out the end of the year, and I'm excited to see what they can do. All right, sounds great? Okay, James, thanks about appreciate the call as always. No, I mean, yeah, look, I guess, I guess I'm in the end. Like I said, the column boss

will think bad luck. You can't do that. But when you break it down to its bare bones of it, who didn't you know? Okay, I did it, but I wasn't. You're right, I wasn't a UFA basketball player in the middle of a tournament in Vegas when I was trying to get on a black check table when I was eighteen years old. So it is different. And I agreed that it's a bad look. I don't know if it warrants a suspension. Maybe it warrants running a bunch of extra laps,

or an apology to your play, your teammates or whatever. It was a bad look no matter how you look at it. I don't know if you think that, yeah I do. I do, and I'm not the coach. It depends what they say. Right, you got another call. I take this call higher on the ar and I on the ball. How's it going Today's Well, I just listening to Defilt talk about you know Tommy Lloyd, you know how you know he's not a great coach. Whatever I'm

going you can't compare lude Olson and Tommy Lloyd. But for one thing, Tommy Lloyds only been here three years, and Tommy and Ludelson didn't have to deal with what Tommy Lloyd is dealing. You're exactly right, you know, player players, here's three four years and and now you know if three or four years these kids have been in three different colleges. Yeah, so let me ask you some whole different ball game. Did you do you read me

at all? No? Probably not so yes, so yeah, yeah, okay, So last week I asked the question and I may for He's it kind of funny to Tommy and do you you heard it right? It was uh people in the streets. And he looked at me like, yeah, what streets are are frustrated with the team? Are you frustrated? And he gave me the standard. He didn't ask the question, but game the center. I understand what fans fee, how fans feel YadA, yaha, you know they love the team, yah yah, But who are you talking to

on the streets who think that Tommy Lloyd isn't a good coach. And what are you hearing this? Well? You know, I mean you hear some you know, specially after a loss. You know, I mean, Tom

is the greatest thing ever when we win. But you know, then we have a loss that we're not supposed to lose, and all of a sudden things, you know, all he can't coach, you know, but people have to realize they're they're playing against the team we just want is just as bad as we do, yes, right, and and and we also have to realize this team has to play one hundred percent. Everybody has to be doing their best. But if we're not shooting well, there's a great chance

we're losing. And if we're turning the ball over like we did against Oregon, you know, it's terrible. If we can't make free throws. You know, everything has to work for us to be successful. If we expect to get to the elite a final forwardever, we can't play anything like we

played before. Otherwise we're gone, at least in around the sixteen. The funny thing is everything that could have happened on that Friday, the turnovers, which were very uncharacteristic, they look horrible, and then the free throws the fifty percent. Yeah, they were awful. Come on, outside of ballow, no one should be missing free throws. Yeah, right, you know. And also one thing, and ask a question on this thing with Boswell

and the gambling thing playing blackjack? When did that happen? That's the question of point. Yeah, that's the question when what time? Yeah, I mean, if it happened after the loss to Oregon, does it bothered me as much? No, But if it happened in between the two games or prior to that first game, then it does bother me. Yeah. No, Yeah, And that's it. That's it. That's a fair way to that's a fair way to characterize that. All right, Brian, Hey,

thanks much. Man, Okay, doculator, all right, well let's let's go back to that because you mentioned, you know what, what about the reaction stuff and how fans take loss, yeah, and stuff like that. But you know, he was it. Tommy was asked that again yesterday. You know what, how do you feel about the way fans handle, you know, the games that you lose. Here's what he had to say.

Fans justify things a lot of ways. And that's what's cool about being a fan is you get an opinion and you get a voice with your friends, you know. But I mean those things don't really penetrate us. And you know, we would have loved to play better, and you know, we would have loved to win the Pac twelve tournament, but we didn't. So you know, we got to play the Handwardel and the handwardell. Now is you know, getting rested and re energized and and and heading up the Salt

Lake to play Long Beach. I mean we were not overthinking it anything more than that. Yeah, So put you a simple uh, fans of fans? I mean you I think I've calmed you down a little? You think, No, I calmed myself down by by well, I would make you more realistic. Well no, but see here's the here's the thing. I was upset for my own self. Well, okay, that I had to go to the game on Saturday night and Arizona wasn't in it. Okay, and I had to go and I was there for So how upset were you?

I was there for five hours on Saturday, you know, for the game because I had to get there two hours early and they left an hour after the game, and Arizona wasn't in the game, and it took all the juice out of the arena. That's why I was upset. When I really broke it down as to what happened, I'm like, like we did last after they lost to USC and the last week. Nothing changed. Yeah, nothing changed. Nothing changed. They can still lose in the first round,

they can still win it all. They're still playing games that they can lose to anybody, and there's and they're still good enough to beat anybody. So nothing changed. And when you thought about it like that, which is where my head was on Sunday as I was headed home, it's gone, all right, what's you know? Okay, everybody relaxed, showing a scale of one to ten. How upset were you on Friday? Probably about a seven? And then it calmed down by by Sunday morning. I guess I

thought you were gonna say by nine o'clock. No, no, no, well no by uh you know, because I was upset all day Saturday because I still had to go to the game. So yeah, so it percolated for a while because they still had to go to the game. You get to the arena look on Thursday, because I had to be there on Wednesday for all the games on Wednesday, right, there's no buzz in the arena

Wednesday game. Arizona had the first game on Thursday. The first time I walked actually onto the court or into the arena, you know, because I get there underneath, I'm in the office that we're in and stuff like that. When I walked out on it was about eleven o'clock, so it was still about an hour before tip. The buzz was inherent. I mean, you could feel that Arizona was about Arizona. Fans were showing up, and

there was an excitement to the arena. They were nervous right because of what happened right before, And there was an excitement to the arena ony on Thursday that you don't feel when Arizona's not there. Even for the evening session Thursday night, you know, Arizona wasn't playing. It was like, you know, okay. So then you go in on you know, and a Friday, again the buzz. But then they lost and all the air got sucked out of the arena. So you go there on Saturday and you walk in

and h right, it's just we got to get through. This is how you is how you think about it, and that's what upset me more than anything about the loss. Well, I think that's so much about whether or not I thought they could do well in the tournament. Well, I think that you've become unders my opinion, you become more of a sensible fan, more of a sensible fan, even despite your sevens. Take it well, because I've seen the unsensible fans, Steve, you can take that pack.

I've seen the unsensible fans through Facebook. Can you see on Twitter where they just people just Joe Schmoe from the street. I wouldn't say occupations because you're not one of the Spirit's occupations, but Joe, all these guys really Yeah, like the dude that was yelling in my ear exactly, Caleb, you're the worst player scene exactly? Who is that? What are you saying? Watched? Yeah, worst player I've ever seen. You're awful. How much

you got on this game? The guy was actually saying before the last time out, when Caleb b Love been sitting out of the game, they needed a three point sure, they put him in the game. He's yelling at Tommy, why are you putting him back in the game? And I want to say, because he's the player of the year, he's the player of the years? Would that be a good reason to put him in the game. And that's the fan that Arizona has. And the thing about is a

lot of the places have these fans. They have this because they're spoiled. They've they've been given a lot, I mean, they expect a lot. What were the Houston fans thinking of, Oh, of course, of course, No, we're not gonna win this. We're horrible, can't score any

baskets. Even Yu Kong before I'm sure was the same way. Yeah, I want to play one last clip because people are saying, you know how hard you know, teams take it when they lose in the first round, and you know, Arizona's life Princeton and Tommy got asked, you know, does it last year have anything to do with this year? Here's what he said, Well, last year is last year. I mean we've never denied it, We've owned it, you know, I mean it's part of our

history, part of our legacy. And you know, when you're in a program like Arizona, you you you're gonna have great successes and you're also gonna have some things that look like monumental failures. It's just it's just how it goes. And so you know, we've never avoided it. All year, we talk about it. We we openly acknowledge it in our program. We're

not embarrassed about it. So you know, we're looking forward to another opportunity this year, and and this team's journey is different than last year's journey, so you know we're excited to get out there and and and and play a play play Thursday. All right, m hm, we'll fired up. All right, Steve's out of here. Look for look for our our bracket. Uh, we're gonna put a bracket up on our social media. We'll pin it on Facebook and uh and uh Twitter. Uh. It's it's free to

enter, doesn't cost anything. It's all online. You'll be able to fill it out online. Win or gets dinner with Steve and I will take you to a great Mexican restaurant or something like that. And if you're from out of town, we'll send you a gift card or something like that too, so you can have dinner somewhere. It's just for fun. You're not gonna

get rich off of this. It's just fun and something to talk about as we go through the NC double a tournament Steve, and I'll enter it as well, so you can see how you do up against us, because I know I suck. I know about Steve. We'll see, all right, we'll see. So we'll be back tomorrow. NC double A Committee Chair Charles McClelland and Ryan Ratky, so be sure to come back tomorrow
