Welcome back to Wind the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jay. Now we have Jason with breaking news on the balls. Okay, Arizona has landed local standout six five twenty thirty six pounds. Um Keona. Wow? Will Hill hide after his
official visit from some point? Right? Yep, that's one of the things that at least we perceived, right that that Kevin someone didn't do chase the low perceived, not perceived a fact. I wanted it to be nice perceived. No, he didn't do. He didn't chase him, he didn't go ahead, didn't care. I don't think you care about Look, he probably wasn't gonna get him anyways, but he still gotta go try and get him. Right, You can't have people say and he didn't even try, which
he didn't. So, uh, you know, nice get for jet fish out of South Point and look, get some guys, and you get and then you get more guys and you get more guys so that you can't have the reputation I'm not going out for that's for sure, right absolutely, And again you know was he gonna get was he gonna get Bejean Robinson? No? No, but or ransomwhere ulship? But still you know, make the effort, right. So yeah, A trio of football teammates from Glendale Polo
High School I committed to play together at Arizona in twenty twenty four. Um. The players are Adam Mohammed, Matthew Laido Latto, and Michael Watskins. Um. Mohammed is a running back and Matthew and Michael are both offensive fintment. Well, you know again the in state recruiting, I mean you're take they're plugging, you know, plugging three guys out of out of ac territory up there in Glendale, right and then against against a new guy that's out
there's some be going after them right right. So that that just that I I don't know what stars these guys are any of that, but if you get in there, you make some inroads that you know at some of those schools up there, because all the big schools are up there. Um, you get guys like that, you know, you get more guys like that. You know, later on Arizona willhos Belmont on November seventeenth as part of their um non conference schedule. That's that's one of those schools that always shows
up on your bracket, right a fifteen or sixteen seed. But you know when they're there tournament all the time, you always hear about them and say, that's not gonna be some slouched a pullment. They played Duke in a while back. You know, pretty tough. I mean, there's a team you don't want to lose to. For sure, you don't want to lose to them, expect you to win. But they're also a test, you know, schools like that that uh, you know, when you get those
guys, they come in here and they're not easy. I'm just looking forward to the season. It's gonna be a fun season, Steve. I know. But you know, even though a lot of those games aren't here, they're playing these games. They're just gonna be fun to bed and within driving distance we can go to see them. But on top of that, you know, Arizona's gonna get talked about one a lot about the fact that they scheduled all these games, and then when the games come up, you know
they're gonna be you know, they're gonna be highlighted. So I think it's I think it's a very smart, uh move on Tommy Lloyd's Park, not just to play the games, but then to hope, you know, his sake, you know, get some benefit beyond playing those games, you know, down the road by getting a lot of visibility for Arizona, no question, starting to see you know, with with what he's done recruiting, wized that you know, people are starting to bring them back up in their preseason
rankings. Yeah, Lener had him in ten. Yeah, which makes sense. Um no, it's back to ludoson time. Um Sean didn't do it for whatever reason. I know he won a lot, and everyone's well he won a lot against bad, bad competitions or whatever. But now it's it's it's it's visibility, although Arizona doesn't really need it. Going to your par HiT's some program, right, so it's already a program, it's highly visible,
but now it's gonna return as a very visible program. Right. Yeah, No, I think it's I think it's a great move on to really continue. But he's already built you know, for the first couple of years. I think I think it's very cool and it's gonna be fun for the fans again, whether the games are here or on TV, or you can go to you know, if you want to go to Palm Springs and watch him play, You're gonna go up to Phoenix and watch him play. The
opportunities for for for fans to go see these guys. So I think it's pretty cool. Okay some national news. UM, we already talked about this briefly, but to officially announce it, the Washington Wizards traded away UM three times All star Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns for Chris Paul Landry Shaman, a handful of second round picks and multiple pick swaps. In addition to the Bridley Beal trade, UM, the Sun's also acquired Jordan Jordan Goodwin and Afford
Isaiah Todd in the trade as well. And you know, did you ever hear the other two dudes? Yeah? None of them. No, in the broken bat and the player to be named later in the bag of balls at a bag of basketball. Yeah. So what do you guys think of their potential news starting five? Well, did you see what the record? Did you see what the odds are now? Um moving to win the championship
next year? Well, they get are they like second behind? I was gonna say that their second behind the Nuggets in the Western Oh yeah yeah, okay, So what just like at five? Is that five? No? I think the Nuggets are five. So they might be at seven some of the one to win it all. Yeah, I still wouldn't be. They need so much sticks still yet. Yeah, they need a lot of death. They got they have no as he said they got they still got no
bench right guard. Yeah, they're starting five right now, is projected as camera Paine, Devin Booker, Brodley, Bill, Kevin Durad, DeAndre and EV's days and they're six. Man would be Ishmael Wayne Wright coming off the bench. And if Howard didn't exile himself for a while, yeah we'd ask him, but yeah, we were fun of him cussing. Well, here are the current odds on on DraftKings. You got the devil Ver Nuggets, the favorite that which always happens, four seventy five. Okay, okay,
the Nuggs, the Celtics at five fifty. That's twin at all. Twin at all, okay, five and a half to one, and then you're Son, You're Phoenix. So I wouldn't touch that at all. Then the Bucks, Lakers, Sixers, Warriors, what's what's Milwaukee? Uh? Seven hundred? Oh, that's it's team again. The team begin right there, seven to one. Get it now, you're gonna get it later. Yeah, I can get better than that. Um Clippers are in there at eighteen
hundred, but I don't have the Clippers. They're the ninth Clippers and the Mavericks are the tenth favorite. No. Uh, the Golden State Warriors all four time NBA champion Draymond Green. It's declining is twenty seven point five million player option for twenty twenty three. I will enter unrestricted free agency. He said he's gonna look, right, he's gonna look Yeah, he's more. I wouldn't mind if he leaves. Yeah, I wouldn't mind if he leaves.
That way, maybe Pool can kind of wake up and whatever, that chemistry will be kind of better. Yeah, I think. I think if he leaves, he won't get more money, but he might go to a better situation for himself and maybe French. Right, he's like what thirty something, Yeah, he's getting up there. Yeah, so you know his days of playing he's still good. Yeah, definitely. I just don't think he's I think it's time is coming gun. Yeah, I think cominga is a
big He didn't play very much, he doesn't get much play time. I think he goes maybe stepping into that Draymond roll with defensive um stopper on their team. If he goes right, oh yeah, what was Golden State? That did you see? Yeah? They're at there's another I did that just just out a whim. Okay, that's good to know. Thirteen this pretty
good price, yea for fifty bucks plus. You know, with with this, with with with Draymond being the one to make this move, the Warriors can move on and not be the ones say what were the bad guys? We cut him loose? The one who just got it said I went out, so okay go yeah. Um, the Celtics do not intend to trade Jaylen Brown, and all sign point to um signing signing him to a five year, two ninety five million super maxim ECCENTI. So the Celtics look to
keep Jaylen Brown with them. Um, what do you guys think about that? Keeping him? I mean don't you. Yeah, I mean he's one of the he's won some players in the NBA. You can't let a guy
like that go just yeah. But signing him and Jason to the Supermax, Um, that's a lot of money out of the window, right, So I mean they're also in a few years going to probably be struggling with, like, you know the same kind of issue other teams struggling with, like building a full rouse together, because even with both of them, Jason and Jaylen Brown, they still lack certain things on their team. So we'll see.
Um. The Mexico manager, Diego Coca has been let go. Um. He was in charge with their team for just four months and seven games. Mexico soccer team, right yeah yeah, if you don't do well, baby, VT it VT it ye, get the hell the door. See the real business it especially Mexican soccer. Yeah, serious business. Especially happened with him in the US. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's crazy. Um. John Moran's camp but poorly feels like the NBA and the media are out
to get them. Um, what are you saying he said exactly that, Well, he didn't say it is people around him are saying that that the media are in the NBA are out to get John morand what really? Yeah, I mean that's what his campus, you know, putting out there. So yeah, I'm out, which tells me again, which tells you that there's all the handlers are the handlers are a big part of this problem. That's equivalent of me drinking and you're getting drunk and saying what what yeah?
Yeah, yeah, yeah you get Yeah, Well Steve got me drunk. I'm sorry that I caused a hit on collision with guilt and people. Steve got me drunk. I was there, Yeah, I was just there watching him. Yeah, that's why the breaking news I have for today. Okay, um, let's see what did I have? Do you see the Like States bracketology? I just saw that. Oh that's what Okay, I got I got some stuff. I got some stuff. Here we go, all right, um and we met. We miss we missed this last week,
Steve. Uh. And then I saw I saw another one. So um basketball basketball College basketball report came out with the most profitable athlete. I saw that. I saw I saw that today again, right, Arizona is not on the list night, but so you saw them. You see who was number one? Do you remember oh, how State? No, you know what's it? You don't remember? I'll give you one hundred dollars if you can guess who number one? Who made the biggest profit? Uh? Overall?
Right? And yeah, in the most profitable athletic department? Four point three seven million dollars? Get away from your computer? How much? One hundred and thirty four No, thirty four million dollars profit? Bama? No, Bama was eight. I know it's gonna be it's gonna be a big, big ten team. It is a big ten tea. Not State came in third? Not Michigan, right, not Michigan either. Then I'm running out of teams those two now Wisconsin either? Man? Who Indiana? Huh
wow? Exactly h Indiana. I saw that list. I'm thinking, because there was it was like top twenty five, right, they did twenty five. Well, Arizona wasn't in there. Yeah, no, Therizona wasn't in there. Ucla was in there. But they have huge numbers, and I'm thinking, how did they get these numbers? Now, this is not profit, this is profitable. Okay, that's it was another list that came out. I saw there was another list that came out about revenue. That's Arizona
was in was in there that surprised revenue. That surprised me. But it had one hundred and thirty four revenue. I'm thinking, how what? Oh god, I don't I don't have that one. But the top five in order were Indiana shocker, Georgia not a shocker, Ohio State not a shocker. Auburn a little bit of a shocker in that they're ahead of Alabama, but that tells you that they're you know, they're paying you know that Alabama's
paying coaches more twenty two point nine eight million. And then another shocker per Due and then another shock. This is per twenty two, twenty two, twenty two, Central Florida. It's fifth, Kansas State, sixth, Alabama seventh, Michigan eight in Illinois ninth. That's the interesting list. Air forces
in the top twenty five. Yeah, I saw that. When you get to twenty five, you're talking about that that somebody that made seven million dollars that that the list does include the private schools either, right, USC's the Notre Dames. So this is all schools where you can you can get their their their day. Do you say today? Right? Uh? Is that what this was. I think, so that's what the other one was might
have been. Okay, it doesn't cite his source. And then then I, like I said, there was there was one that said that was on your revenue, and I think Arizona was in was in the top saw like one hundred and thirty four. I'm thinking, really I didn't get that number. It was such a big number. But I also just reading a bracketology. This is a week old already. Uh there are number four in the West. Um, so that's that's about right. They'll be probably here.
Here is the USA today had had the ranking of the top top schools in revenue. Um. Trying to go through trying to get this, um, uh, it doesn't have it. It doesn't have a list. It's just it's got It's a long story and it didn't didn't come up with it this, but I did see that Arizona and obviously the sec IS goals are the ones that are making making the most money. So uh, it's kind of nuts man. Yeah, if they just had all that money, especially after
a year of COVID when they were getting crushed the money. Yeah yeah, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Yep, yep. So okay, so that was one and then um, a lot of the you know, we talked about the US Open for for a little bit. We gotta get out of here. You got our guests above camp. A lot of people upset with the attendance at the US Open, not because there weren't
a lot of well, because there weren't a lot of people there. But the reason there weren't a lot of people there because no, it's because the the La Country Club where it was help hoarded the tickets and very few tickets were available to the general public because they're a bunch of newty people. So so there was attendance, but not not there are only twenty twenty three thousand tickets sold together, but but more than more people there because they had tickets.
But but there weren't that many people there. There was nobody there, And people are saying that was really disappointing that there weren't great routes for the Open because they hoarded all the time. Do you have any more great poop pal? All right, let's thank a bracoon. I have Bob camping here. We'll talk some Phoenix Suns and Davison O the Phoenix Sports Bob is with

I'm Steve Rivera. He's jig his awesome no. On the phone, we have Bob Kemp from the Sports Zone ten sixteen. Phoenix, Bob, how are you
doing this one hundred and twenty yet? Have an open the door se like noon, this dry heat. Don't worry about it. That's exactly all right. Yeah, it's a wonderful thing. So his Phoenix all glow or whatever word from the newest trade with the Sons. Well, the same people they're planning the parade route when Durant got traded here, or you know, you have jumbling up this time around. They may ever lose a game the book it well, is that what's been the general reaction? I mean, people
love it both you know, both sides. Chris Paul is gone. I mean what do they think this all means. I don't think if the Chris Paul is gone thing. I think that basically every game the Sons have ever lost in the last three or four years was DeAndre Eaton's fault um, so they'd like to see him gone. And there's certainly lots of speculation in the last for twenty four hours now since the Paul that You Beal trade became not
official, but it was mentioned it was going to become official eventually. Last twenty four hours, it's assumed that Eaton is going to be moved because they have no bench and they have no money. That's not good. That's not good. They didn't have any bench last this past season. Correct, They've had three years to build a bench. I mean, they really became a parent when they lost the finals against Milwaukee that they needed to add some pieces.
So I've been blaming James Jones for two years, being the previous two off seasons. This year, I don't know if James Jones has anything to do with anything, because it seems like Matt Iskey had the new the new owner is this is like a fantasy basketball project, and that it doesn't seem to have a whole lot of basketball logic in my opinion. So obviously I'm
not getting my seat for the parade drive. So you know, and then as as you would expect, you know, all of a sudden, the Sons are a favorite to win, you know, to win the NBA and that type of stuff. But again again they were last year after the draft trade too, right, So I mean, is it in that regard our fans happy that you know, it should be as you're trying to do something?
Oh yeah, do they feel it's it's kind of I don't want to say false, but it's like all show, I guess, let me ask you, let me say it that way, you know, or or I mean, what's the reaction as far as that goes. I think it's kind of a two part answer there. First step, it would have been no matter who bought the team and got Robert Sarber out of here, it would
have been a positive. So we'll start with that part. And I do think certainly the majority of the fans are definitely encouraged that you have an owner
who's more interested in winning basketball games and you know other things. You know, god knows what it was actually if we know some of the things that was reportedly going on with Sarber, and I'm guessing there's a whole lot of other stuff that will never know, but you know, there's no question that he was not a particularly popular owner amongst Sons employees, at least the ones that I know, and uh, you know, I think that is no
longer. He was here even before the stuff broke in the ESPN story, when it was almost calendar year ago, more than a calendar year ago. Even before that, you know, I think that his uh popularity had started to wig considerably. And when you don't make the playoffs for X number of years, that's gonna happen. So you talked about DeAndre and we'll get to that in a moment. I always I've always liked Um Williams and the coach,
the former coach Monty. Uh it was he a problem too, or maybe they just stopped playing for him because you know, he landed a job real quick. I mean, he didn't even have to pack his bags. So I thought he's a fantastic coach. I did too. I don't think it was a problem with him. Um you know, I thought that James Jones should if they were going to fire anybody, they should have fired James
Jones because he had two off seasons to build a bench and didn't. Now, I don't think he has anything to do with anything because he's just basically being told what to do Um, you know the it's interesting that the Beale addition. Bartlestein is now part of the I don't know his official title CEO or whatever it is. U is part of the front office. Yeah, his son of Bartestein has been a long time I'm sure you know Steve, but he's been a long long time agent than the NBA. Very successful.
Um, he's got into this role of things now. His son is Bradley Beale's agent. So connect the docs. Yeah, induct he's a big He's a big Arizona fan. Every player he can get from Arizona, he tries to do that. But that's for another day. Um, yeah, we'll see what happens. Siman's on the staff now, I was gonna ask you about that. Yeah, what's up with that? Well, he used to be with Bogo and l Right, so I'm guessin that's got as much a
doing as anything, but just too bad assignment. It's not like twenty five and you can't still play well, you play much. He seemed to be a very smart player. He's I really thought he was an excellent announcer where he was doing college games on ESPN, So I think he understands the game. So I think that's a good thing, but I have no idea how to actually judge him as an assistant. You'll probably play a player development, but is that my understanding? You do not or the Suns do not have
a G League team because they had one before. They do not? Yeah, well, I think that there's like, isn't there kind of a I wish I should know more about this, but I don't know if there's there's a couple of organizations that kind of like marge together to have some other players play in the G League or not not positive if the Suns are part of that. Yeah, well they got to get guys from some more so you get they got to have something going on to be able to you know,
see some guys. So m so is does this kind of alleviate you know, the hangover of how the season ended and all that kind of stuff or people fired up again? Is that wait and see kind of thing? What do you think is as far as that goes? Yeah, we have a pull question today and when you know, the question was maybe I should have phrased this differently. Um, you know, do you think that Booker,
Paul and Bill can play together? And I actually think they can, and I actually think though when tons of regular season games, because they're just outscore off the opposition of many nights. But as far as the postseason goes, at some point you have to stop somebody. At some point you have to get a rebound. And I'm not sure how that's going to work once we get to the postseason. We just saw that. I mean, they couldn't have stopped. You know, the Nuggets are maybe a bad comparison because they're
actually a basketball team. They have two great players, but they also had like eight or nine guys that contributed, and the Suns right now have four max contract guys and really not a damn thing other than that. I'm tired of watching Jakogi and Ishwenwright or whatever. Those guys should not even be on the floor during a playoff game. And obviously those guys, especially at Koge was getting key minutes and that was a complete waste of a position. Yeah,
yeah, no, I agree with you. That's why I don't put it on monkey. He had he had the pieces, and they were not his pieces. He had two or three. That's it, agreed. And yeah, I'm not a campaign supporter. Some people in town here I think he's the greatest player in the history of the planet. He had a tremendous bubble. He wasn't even on the Sun's roster that season before the layoff, before they went to the Bubble. He had. Yeah, he had a
history with Monnie Williams and Oklahoma City. He was really good the bubbles. He was actually pretty good for a lot of the geek a lot of the season that went to the finals the following season. Uh, he hasn't done jack since then. Uh. He's a good He's a good scorer. He's a point guard. He's not a good passer. He can't guard any of the three of us. I don't know about your guys game, but pretty pretty positive. But I could maybe you know, figure out how to try
to score against him. Uh. And now I know that some people just assuming he's the starting point guard. I don't think that's true. And I think they'll just use you know, Booker and Durant to bring the ball up and Bill certainly, Uh, he has passing skills and the fact that he Aver reached five assists on the team with guys that basically couldn't make shots is actually speaks highly of Bill's passing skills. But it's just to be a part
of the after you get past the main four guys. And I don't think I think there's Yeah, there's certainly tons of speculation that eight will not be here next year and he will be moved for whatever pieces they can to develop a batch. Yeah, let's make your mood a little bit happier. You've been a little grumpy here. Let's talk about the Diamondbacks. What's up with that diamond Okay for me to get grumpier, it's quite a stake this the
president. Let's make it Jake grumpy because you know all the Dame I can be grup Okay, my man Jay, all right, he's a Dodger. He's a Dodge. Yeah, I'm very grumpy right now. But the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. Oh, the Dodgers. Yeah, forty blown leads for your bullpen this early in the season, they've got eighteen blown leads and what forty games or whatever? You know, that's got a good number. Yeah, going to going to what you just said. I've got a bad shoulder,
but I think I could go in there and get a saved. You know, it's crazy, get a ground get a ground ball or something exactly. But what is up with the Diamondbacks only out? They're fun to watch. Um, they're extremely athletic, you know, I don't I think it was. It's so I think they were gonna they want to get athletic anyway, and then the new rules are perfectly suited towards them. They've got,
you know, certainly a festival of athleticism at this point. So that just kind of coincidentally worked out with what they had talent wise, and because I don't think aybody could have foreseen when they were drafting these guys that the game would that the rules would change this drastically and speed and athleticism would be, thank god, once again a bigger part of baseball. So it's a good
it's a good marriage there. They've only got two starting pitchers after that, good luck, and it's amazing they've won as many games as they have with
only two starting pitchers. And when Gallant and mayor Kelly are pitching right now, it's there's no such thing as like a must win in June, but we're pretty close, uh, And they have a very good record when those two guys start, and you know, no matter who else is starting, whether it David Zach Davies who came back from the injured list, Yeah, he's not a swing of this guy, even though he was the previous start, but yesterday actually the last two starts. Yeah, he's been hit really
hard. And if they had any options in the minor leagues or the current major league roster, I think that there's no way that the current guys that they have starting this rotation at three, four and five, we'd be starting. Well, what's even more amazing, Bob and I don't know if you know this, My my, my, uh, let's say my nickname here is the kod I'm the kiss of death on fantasy baseball players, on teams and whatnot. I've got three Diamondbacks on my team and they're all having really
good years. Christian Walker could tell Marte and uh and uh that Callen and I'm as far as that goes. I'm rooting for those guys, but pretty much not anybody else. Just so you know that I'm fully with you. I'm a fantasy player myself. I wish I had Diamondbacks. I don't have any. Um. I actually had tell Marte and uh. He got off to a slow start, and I needed to. We had to make a roster move and can feel position, so we cut him. Not a smart
not a smart move. There. We're actually winning that league in spite of our stupidity, So hopefully that will continue. And Novella was just on the verge of not even being the manager getting fired and no, look I've got an extension. I don't think he was ever going to be fired. Quite frankly, as long as Mike Hazen as the general manager. You know, they were together in Boston, obviously, that's a very reason why he's here. Um yeah, they were terrible. Um yeah, Hazen took responsibility for
you know, some of the moves that he made. Um So, I don't think he I've never had certainly it's one hundred and sixty two games or not. I can agree with every decision of manager makes, but rarely have I even just really kind of wondered what's he doing here? But at no
point that I think he was not a good manager. So the fact that you know they've extended this contract and now that contract extension actually goes through twenty twenty four, which coincides with hayes AND's current contract is he well liked, you know, boat among the media and the fans and everybody absolutely totally,
and more importantly, the players. They love him and he rarely, no matter how bad it was, even going one hundred and ten games, lost one hundred and ten lost season a couple of years ago, at least publicly. I mean I heard radio Wave they welcome back to on the ball here. I'll fat Sports fourteen fifty M. Steve Rivera, you're Jaken's as I just saw something that came over that I didn't know. Um, Jim Brandenburg. Remember that name? What do I know? The name?
Former White Yoming coach from back in the day. I think he might even be in the whack when Wayami was in the whacking Asue and you've been he passed away this weekend. Eighty seven years old. Eighty seven guys? Are you know? You hear about these guys and they're so old, and there were guys that you know, I get it, we're you know, well, you're not in your sixties yet, you're about to be just shut
up him. But but I am. I am in my sixties and happen for a little bit, um, you know, but you kind of feel like, oh, you know that guy was you know, I remember that guy when I was a young guy. Well I'm not a young guy anymore. And they they aged like we do. Well, we had the Wyoming coach coach member coach from one of our best interviews. The people loved the old guy. Oh yeah, he's ninety five. Yeah, he's ninety five.
Yeah. I mean, come on, yeah, So you know, I uh man, I you know, I don't know so it uh yeah, I mean this just happens all the time. Now, all right, um, okay, So going back to a couple of things, going back to this whole revenue thing, I found. I found the USA today the full chart of of revenues um and now this is, you know, just total revenue in the department, all right, and now you who you think should be at the top is at the top, uh in order, let's
say the top ten. You got a house state at two hundred and fifty million dollars fifty one, Yeah, okay, Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, LSU, Texas, A and m Florida, Penn State, Oklahoma. Who's the source of lease? This is from US. And that's the same kind of list that you that this is it. This was in USA. Okay, Okay, so this this was this was made into the graphic that you and I saw it. This is the list where Arizona is thirty
first. Okay, one hundred twenty four million. Number surprised me. That's a big number. Yeah, A su is just a couple of behind a thirty third with one hundred and twenty one million. And then you go into the total expenses. All right, um, so this is where you start talking profits and whatnot. So Indiana it's thirteenth on the list. In revenue. They brought in one hundred and sixty six million dollars then only spend one
hundred and thirty two million. Right, Arizona brought in one hundred twenty four one three fifty three. I guess they spent ninety five million farmore way month. Dude, they give me they did not make a problem. Oh this is twenty two twenty two. Oh. I would have never thought that they spent They spent one twenty four nine forty four. So they were about even.
They were about six hundred thousand dollars in the red Wow, and that doesn't happen very often, right, ASU was about three million dollars in the red um A school like uh, you know how State was twenty six million dollars in the black. Texas was only fourteen million dollars in the black.
Um, let's see, let me find somebody else. You know, Texas, A and M spent all but uh sixteen million dollars of what they what they got, So you know the I mean you know, I mean, uh, Ohio State spent two hundred twenty five million dollars on its own today programs, which is a crazy number, you know. So anyway, so that's where you know that, that's where you see that. Let me see,
I'm Oregon is Oregon is the top Pack twelve school. Well this doesn't again doesn't count public school, so we don't know about USC, we don't know about Notre Dame. Uh, we don't know the private school of Stanford. But of the of the schools in the report, Oregon was the highest Pack DWELF team at number nineteen, one hundred and fifty three million dollars, and they made a profit of about thirteen million dollars. So um, big
numbers of Washington one hundred forty five million dollars. But they were they were in the red bay about four million dollars. I mean they had to they but you know, look when you think about you know what do Arizona and UH and UH and UH Washington haven't common They both fired coaches recently, football coaches recently and a basketball coach recently, So that, you know, I figured that that's where a lot of that I did Edie come in from.
You don't just always go get it from boosters, right, No, so you know a little, but it's good to have them here. We got a call. All right, let's get that. Hi. You're on there and on the ball. How's it going today? What's up? Brian? Well, just listening to your numbers about the expenses and the cost and everything, and I'm sitting there going, this is more reason for us to go
to the Big twelve. Yeah, yeah, just go. I'm sorry about but if you stick San Diego State and some of their school in there, there's no way that you're gonna get a decent TV contract. So so, so, Brian, what's the number that you're looking at? Uh? You know, Gabe called earlier and talked about twenty two million. That's a little lights a little light. What's the what's the lightest number? I think we're
gonna have to be looking. I don't know what the Big twelve, what they get, I don't know if they're TV contracts going to be that great, but somewhere around thirty five million. Wow, oh, good luck with that. I think the big I know it's gonna be it's gonna be tough, because you know, they're all we can hope for is the Big twelve. Okay. I know they're throwing all these names like Connecticut out and everything whatever, which I don't think is going to happen. I think they're just
putting it out there just to put it out there. I think they would rather have. Of course, they rather have the teams are the four corner teams. They'd rather have those. I rather have. I think the Big Colorado Arizona. Yeah, I think the Big twelve number for the new contract that starts, you know in uh in twenty twenty four, I think the number was thirty one million is, which happens to be better than unless you know, aust My math is really bad. I know I'm old and everything,
but I know it's better than twenty two million. Yeah, I know if that is the figure that you know everybody's going on. I mean, you know, because we don't know for sure, but um, and I just think the Big twelve is just throwing out names just to throw out names,
you know, because they have to look at you. If they they put thirty one million, you still got to look at Okay, the Big twelve schools, Baylor, whatever, going to Connecticut to play it could cost them too much money that they have to look at that also, and I think have by having the Arizona Colorado or a su or whatever, maybe throw a Utah in there. That also, you know, the traveling would not be as expensive. Yeah, yeah, if if all things are equal,
though, Brian, I still want to be in the Pac twelve. Sorry, well I don't. I don't want to be. I don't want to be the wack Conference again, that's exactly where we're headed. Yeah, I don't, Brian. I think you're right, but I don't think for that long because eventually, eventually in our lifetime, hopefully that it's gonna be a big, massive force for right conference. I think. I think five years after the current TV deals are signed, in five years, it all breaks
up again and restructures pretty much completely. They just need that amount of time to figure out how to do what it's going to look like and how to do it right? You know, I don't know. We'll say. I'm just not excited about, you know, the possible makeup of the pack twelve or ten, whatever hell it is. I'd rather say the pac ten than wind up adding. You know, I don't mind, San Diego stated, but it's the other school, right, A possibility? O there, the
school that mothers me? Right, I hear you on that one. I do, I do? All right, Brian, Hey, thanks a much, man, I appreciate it. Okay, all right, Yeah, anybody want to call please do? We held about six minutes left, five to four one, six seventy four forty. Okay, let's go over to the issue of collectives. I found I found a definition of a collective on the IRS website, which must mean it's true, right, Okay, Okay, here's what it is, right out right off of an IRS website name image
likeness. Collectives are structurally independent of a school, yet fund nil opportunities for the schools student athletes. They are typically founded by well known alumni and supporters of the school. Collectives generate and pool revenue raised through contributions from a wide variety of sources including boosters, businesses, fans, and more. They use these funds to create opportunities for student athletes who leverage their NIL in exchange for
compensation, which doesn't sound all that different from from Arizona assist. No, this is just this is just Jagon's always getting his twelve buddies putting X amount of money and putting in the pool saying okay, we need a guy,
here's some money. Right, Okay, So this on three, which is that that that uh website that does you know, value values and players and whatnot as uh, they've got basically got a directory of collectives and they say that Friends of Wilburn and Wilma definitely is that you a you've a collective? Correct um? Then they do everything they do every sport except for basketball.
Right. Well, here's here's what it's saying. Here's what it says about about Friends of Wilburn and Wilmo. First of all, it said the founder is cal Davis, who we don't know called Davis is. Another founder is Humberto Lopez, another big booster um ray wells remember the football I guess the executive director. And this is the Wilburn and Wilma right, this is Friends Wilmo and then Joey Medina is the general manager. Okay, okay, here's
what it says. Here's how it describes the Friends of Wilbur will says. The Friends of Wilburn and Wilma is an nil collective form of February twenty two, twenty twenty two that supports the creation and development of NAAL business opportunities for
all student athletes of Arizona's twenty one athletic programs. Founded by Lowa. Wildcat supporter is col Davison Umberto Lopez, Friends of Wilbur and Wilma will utilize Blueprint Sports Technology that's a name of a company to learn more about supporting Arizona student athletes NAO opportunities and connect with them. Friends of Wilburn and Wilma will initially focus on the year Zone A football program, while building momentum to support the
Wildcat women's basketball, softball, and baseball programs. It's specified the collective also has the support of the Andre Agasy Foundation for Education. If I don't know, if you know andre Agassi's lawyer and agent, we talk to you, Yeah, we do, we talk to him. I didn't we talk to
him. Okay, yeah, uh, I'm a big believer in in partner next wave of athletes, said AGAs and eight time grands time tennis champion quote, it's incredible to see and support this technology and they know the University of Arizona student athletes will benefit greatly from this new organized support. Okay, So that's that's one of the collectives right right, So there's there's another, big, bigger one obviously, but they um this one, this one twenty one
sports. Uh, I'm surprised because they have some peavy hitters or that right right, So their money, their money isn't part of the probably isn't going to be mingled with the It doesn't go mingled with you of a revenue and
whatnot. So there's the revenue, there's the regular u of a athletic department that needs money, right right, So now you have a bunch of hands or fingers to the hand that needs to be fed to fend not once twice every year, right every year the Waldcack club has to keep getting money. But then the collective has to keep where's the money? How about how deep with the pockets and if you have these heavy hitters doing this for Wilburt exactly.
Well, old Davis's name is on the you know, is on bunch of buildings over there, right right, Um, But now he might be more selective and who he gives it to, right, I mean, because how many rich dudes do you are? There? Wow? But the fact that he went out in spite of all the other money that he's given to the universe, and he went out and helped found excuse me, found this. Yeah, he's obviously he's obviously supporting it. So you know, I
don't know. Now the whole thing with collectives now and that this is the discussion and we don't got to complements that we were having with uh with Adam Lazarus, is that what collectives are doing versus what they were supposed to do are two different things. Collectives they're saying that collectives are just handing out the money. They're getting the money, and they're handing out Okay, you come
here, we'll give you this right now. Probably somewhere along the line to try and make it as legal spouses to say, well, we'll give you this, but you're gonna have to do three appearances. Sure, you know, sure, and we know we know at least what you've heard. I've heard some players basketball player got stuff, yeah, cars or whatever, and they were probably they endorsed the car. He got a real quick call.
It's real quick. Higher on there and I on the ball. Hey guys, Uh, have you seen the USC football schism for twenty twenty four. It's illegitimate. Have you looked at it? We did, We talked about it last weeks. Is really bad too, Both of them are really bad. It's very third world. It's illegitimate, and it's uh, it's a part of the degradation of college football and what they've done to it. Were you talked about how about how much they got to travel and the teams that
they got to play and it makes no sense? Yeah, no, I hear you, We hear well. I mean the fact that they're going to play their last five games at home is not legit. They're gonna pay devoiding avoiding bad weather by playing in October only on the road. Uh, you know, I mean, this is just it's a it's it's a makeup schedule, you know, it's come on, well again, it's you know, none of it makes any sense. So um, it doesn't. Yeah, we hear you. Hey, we got thanks smoked it for a time machine
he took to go back to nineteen six. Okay, all right, we appreciate the call. We gotta run, Thank you much. I'm not for time of sheep for other reasons. Yeah, I don't know if i'd want to go back in time. Maybe I don't know, maybe to my forties or something. I don't do a little less weight, Yeah, a little less weight than a little little from you were worried. All right, hey,
Jason, nice job on the board today. Thank you, cheated, and thank you for our guests, Adam Lazarus from my Arizona assist and then Bob Kem from uh the Sports Zone up in Phoenix talking Phoenix Suns and a little bit of a little bit of Diamondbacks stuff. So appreciate you all being here. We'll be back tomorrow to hash more of this stuff out as we always do. See you tomorrow.
