Streamy Live. I mean, iHeartRadio. Wow. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to Win the Ball here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jake with he. Now we have breaking news from Jacob Oh. Yeah, I forgot about that. Okay, breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. All right, some huge news actually, Steve on not related to football, basketball, baseball or anything like that. Tiger would Oh, I saw

the Tiger Woods ending his relationship with his partnership with Nike. I mean that's like, you know, he and Michael Jordan are the ones, right, the turn helped to both sides. Yeah. Woods, his tenure, he had a ten year what was it, God, I had it right here. He had a ten year, two hundred million dollar agreement that he signed in twenty thirteen, so that they've come to the end of that agreement.

That was after a five year, forty million dollar agreement that he signed when he was twenty years old, so he hadn't even played, you know, any professional golf and Nike signed him. They got into the equipment as well as the apparel and he you know. I mean, if you think about Nike and how Nike became Nike, you think of Michael Jordan, and you think of you know, especially with golf, because they were not in the golf landscape right there they were. Now, let me ask you something.

So ten years he's finishing up his ten year contract. Now twenty thirteen, he said, So, wasn't that after his his divorce or during the heyday of the divorce, because I think it was like twenty eleven. I could be wrong after that. So they signed him with all that money despite despite all the bad publicity. They knew he was going to be back right sure, but he kind of wasn't. But they still hung with him. Know,

they're hung with him. And look again, if you if you think about why Nike is Nike, it's because of him and Michael Jordan, and so the fact that that that they stuck with him on that, you know, it meant a lot to them. But you know, a few years ago, I can't remember, a few years ago, Nike decided to get out of the equipment piece of it. They've just they slowly try it, you know, slipping out of it. They've still got They're still doing golf,

but it's really just clothing now, it's not it's not equipment. It's not golf balls anymore. Uh uh Tigers with Taylor Made, he's using Bridgestone golf balls, which I'm sure is doing a whole lot for those companies. But you know, they've been kind of getting out of it anyways. But you know, uh there, you know, it's it's sort of a changeover. I think Nike ultimately will get completely out of it. That's what it looks like they're doing. Yeah, and that's that's probably best for them as

well. Okay, don't get a big news. Yeah, so that was that was huge years. The new Hall of Fame class for the College Football Hall of Fame is out. One of our we'll call him a friend because he's been on the show. Tim Couch made made the made the Hall of Fame. A couple of other names in there, Randy Moss made it. Toby Gerhart, who we all thought should have won a Heisman Trophy a number of years ago. Uh got in. Frank Solich, who was the coach

at Nebraska and anything. Nebraska still feels like they probably never should have fired the guy because they haven't had that good a coach. Uh. Since then, guys still coughing up a coughing up along over here. But the classes out, Uh, you know, it's been there. It's been a while since Arizona's gotten a guy in there. I think that the next guy that the local chapter is working to get in is gonna be Antoine Casa, who won the who won the Thorpe Award way back in the day. Yeah,

we had Antoine as well, not too long ago. Well you were, we've had It's been a while. And then uh, just you know, lots of little stuff. You know, you've got the NFL things. Uh. The Atlanta Falcons coach got fired after he he and uh you saw that. Did you see the thing with the New Orleans Did you listen to the did you listen to the commentary? Uh? After it happened. It was interesting because because he was pissed that he gets caught on and they were already

getting the resk kicked. Uh. And one of the commentators, I don't know who, he says, hey, man, I'll fare in love in football. Man. If you can't, if you can't let him score, can't prevent them from scoring. That's on you, right, And now it's it's great. It's sort of a little bit, I know you'd call it an uproar, but just a little bit of controversy within the Saints because, you know, uh uh, the guy, for Florida's sake, the quarterback

who called that, the King Crab guy, James Winston. Apparently the call was to take a knee. They did kind of the thing like in Rudy, right, if you're seen the movie Rudy, where they where they told him, you know, victory formation taken knee, and instead they ran a place and scored a touchdown so they could get Rudy in the game. That's how the movie went. That's what really happened, but that's how the movie went. Sure that they wanted a guy to get a touchdown, they didn't

take a knee. He got he got his touchdown, and he set off the Atlanta coach and he and he lit up the uh uh coach Allen the Saints coach at at at Midfield, He apologized at his press conference that our call was we were taking the knee. Our call was to take a knee. The team took it upon themselves to do it, and then Jamis Winston said yeah, we we decided that we felt our guy deserved a touchdown. So there comes from the line of, uh, just do it and ask

for an apology later or apologize later. I can't. There's a praise for that, uh you know that for for goodness, and that's what they did, which makes which it's the last game of the year or last play of the year, right, you know, and so h well, sorry, my bad, my bad. Sorry anyways, Okay, so Arizona, Arizona man have moved up to U number eight eight in the a P. You know what, you know what it matters not step again, you're just blowing

the conversation. We're just kind of have some fun with the conversation. You. I'll get your breaking news right here. Yeah, yeah, you if you know what you did, the damn breaking news. Okay, I'll go sit over here. I'm not saying it's good news. I'm just saying it doesn't. That's up to spots from number ten. They leaped over Illinois. Who else? Who else dropped? I'm looking at whose dropped? Marquett dropped four spots they have and there's a new number one, Houston, Houston on

the a P. Are you sure I'm looking at it right now. Oh, because produced all up there. I guess they must have moved up in the coaches or something. Maybe because I thought Houston was the number one, Houston moved up from two to one. Now Houston is up over Kansas. So wait, wait, you said two to one. What did you say? I mean what two three to two? Three moved We've got Purdue, you got Huge is up over Kansas, dropped three. They had eighty three

eighty one win against DCU. Then you got Yukon, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arizona, Oklahoma, Illinois. That's that's your top ten. Still nobody else from them. So the one the one thing that I get out of you know, I listened to watch these things Facebook comments and Twitter comments from these fans who love this team, which they should. It's a very good team. And the one thing they say, it's consistent. If

Arizona plays the game they should be playing, they can beat anybody. Right if this show was in Kentucky, what's the fan saying, If we can play the way Kentucky plays, we can beat anybody. If this show was in Houston, they're saying the same thing. Because there's other good teams out there. Right, Arizona is very good, but let me say there's another

good team over there and over there and over there. So just just temper that with reality not over here, because they're not not over here in Washington, Oregon, California or California. Yeah, yeah, there's not. I mean, I don't even know who will finish second. Yeah, after after Arizona, the next sized team getting boats Colorgan or not even Colorado anymore. After the forty seven point beat down, Oh I take back they did.

They got eight voats eight points in the voting, So you got you got Colorado, and then you got Oregon and then Utah even got a couple after they're beatdown. So it's a it's not good. On the women's side. There's still I think six PAC twelve teams on the women's side. Arizona's not one of them, although they are getting boats. But on the women's side, you've got U C l A number two, they're still fourteen and oh you've got Colorado. It's thirteen and one, which Arizona had it has to

beat them. Then they went up the road and beat Arizona State. You got, you got Stanford was normally on number one or number two. They're all the way down at number eight at fourteen and one. USC is at number nine at twelve and one. So you got four teams in the top. Yeah. Yeah, that's the total opposite of the men's side, right, and then of course Yukon, I mean not Yukon, South Carolina remains number one. They're fourteen and oh I what number three with Caitlin Clark,

they'd beat Rectors one with three to sixteen. Do you say there was a game I was listening. Let you heard this on the radio. Grambling State women they'd beat Sony badly played something called like some Bible study college college, some Biblical studies or something like that, and God was not on their side. One fifty six to eighteen was not scoring baskets. Well, somebody said that God's going to bring down from Holy Allen Grable State for doing that too.

If we're doing that to a Bible holidays now entering the throne or not into heaven. Gramley State, Sorry, not allowed. You missed the door back there, that one that's really hot on the outside, that's where you're you're in the wrong door. Wrong door, ron door Oh my god, that that was. That just sounded that just sounded awful. All right, So really not a whole lot else. I'll throw this one out there. You're right. It was big game Boomer put out a way way too early.

Twenty twenty twenty four Top twenty five. He's got Georgia at number one, Oregon and number two. Remember they're gonna have the the Oklahoma Dylan Gabriel. Yeah, that's specifically why they probably put them there, because they don't lose much in quarterback. He's got Old miss coming in at number three, Michigan at number four, Alabama five, Texas six, and then there was own Arizona at seven. I had a hold on to your hats here.

I had of Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Missouri, who went thirteen and one, I think is what they did, or twelve to one, something like that. Thirteen and one. You've got Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, West Virginia, and North Carolina State makes up the next five. The only other school he's got he's got two schools in the top twenty five from the PAC twelve. Oh they're not the PAC twelve. Ay, We're sorry. He's got Utai in there. He's got Washington in there at twenty

five. So anyways, interesting stuff. Okay, Oh, did you mention the you've got the coaching changes Atlanta coach the Washington Ron Rivera. Ron Rivera is out. Oh I had no Washington. Yeah, that came shorty this morning. Okay, So he's out and I'm sure there'll be some more. What's the odds on on Tonio Pierce getting the head job at Oakland? You know you're the thought that, well, all the discussion is Jim Harbaugh. Oh, there are San Diego Jim, that Jim Harmer is going to get

an NFL job. This is the last game at Michigan. That San Diego is the most likely thing. But you know, there was a lot of discussion earlier, earlier before that that he would go to the Raiders. But I don't know, if you're the Raiders, how you not do not hire Antonio Pears? I mean, the player. I'm sure they've been playing for him. I'm sure the players want him, but you know you Okay, So it was great for this half of the season. What happens when you've

got the whole season. You got to manage your roster you got to do all those things. Yeah, they never work. And then typically players play hard for the guy that's coming in to replace the guy that and you know, what's it going to be like next year when you got to go through preseason with them, what's gonna be like? Can he run? You know in the NFL? Uh an NFL franchise, an NFL team, Because there's more to it than picking up for you know, for things left off and

just finishing out the season. There's a lot more to do it than that roster management. Here was a funny one. So Aaron Rodgers comes out and make some comments about how you got to keep out the outside noise that were terrible at that YadA YadA. When he was the idiot who went out who went out and said publicly that that that that that you know that that Jimmy

Kimmel was was gonna be on on the Epstein list. When it's like, dude, he's one created created, He created a mess that you know, that got you know, completely getting talked about and saying we got to get rid of those messes. That's why that's why we suck. Sure, that's the guy, dude, No, it happens all the time the guy. You know, I really really really liked him. I really did when when when they won that Super Bowl at Green Bay. You know what, I

didn't like him coming out of that. Oh I know, he didn't run for the Dutchdowns. I liked him. I liked him as a guy. You know, I thought he was I thought he was sort of a humble uh you know, kind of almost an average guy who was doing great and then one and then when did a sour on you just kind of recently over the last three, four or five years where you just kind of been a complete distraction to his team, just always saying stupid stuff, you know,

where where it is. I kind of think it went to his head when he started started dating hot celebrities, you know, Gen Danico, Patrick, Olivia Mount. You know, he's all of a sudden he's out in the celebrity world, and I think it all went to his head and he got all messed up. How much does the charge to do you custom? Do you take my uh my copey, I sit down in your couch. Yeah, you can't eval you know, I Michael said, I charge you with

nickel and you get a worthy That's what it's worth. All right, Uh okay, that's all I got. We got Jack McGruder gonna come on here and talk about the championship game, which is gonna start in just a little over an hour. He writes for sports Bettingdime dot com and and Forbes. He's been analyzing the game, so we're gonna pick his brain on what he sees. But I think he's gonna go Washington because he's been hot on their on their uh, on their business for the whole season. So we'll see

So yeah, so we're gonna we're gonna try and have Jack give us a call see

if our phone is. It looks like it might not even be working and then Nick Nick would Nick Nick can't solve any issues from home from there. That's strange how this happens. Maybe the connection on the other side, well, you know, wherever the phone is added to. Who knows? Who would have you know dismissed that in the first place, but okay, we see if Jack comes on the show one of the storylines. I wanted to talk to Jack about it, and okay, so we can hear it.

Hello, you're on the air. Hey Jay, oh man, Okay, Hey, how you doing. We weren't getting the dial tone on our phone, so we thought it might be dead. We didn't. We don't know. Heck, well, it's probably my phone. No no, no, no, no no. We get literally we put on a phone line and we couldn't get a dial tone, so we thought something was up with our with our own phone. Here, thanks for thanks, Yeah, sure,

glad to be here. Before we get into the whole rigamarole of the game tonight, let me ask you, there's two big storylines that I see that they're kind of big, you know, the end of the Pac twelve era could win with a national championship game in football, and or the the uh, the whole controversy with Michigan, and I thought it would be poetic just if they won this given their situation with all the signs stealing and the coach being out for a long time, which is a bigger deal, which is

a bigger story. Oh, I think the PAC twelve demise as a bigger story, which is so big in Arizona and on the West Coast. It's just too bad. To me. It's too bad that you no money took over and money dictated and TV contracts dictated. I think that's a bigger deal. And mainly because I think there's so much under the radar about this science situation. I'm sure this is not the only school that has ever done this,

and you know they didn't. There wasn't a big stink about it around the country because people are probably thinking, you know, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna call this out because somebody might think, you know, somebody might think I'm doing the same thing. I just I think it's the PAC twelve and that's that's really sad that the PAC ten is going to the tact is going away. But what are we going to do about it? Yeah?

Yeah, all right. So it's you know, a huge game, and you know the game everybody was hoping for the top two teams both undefeated. I mean, you know, if you lay it out, this is the way it was supposed to be. So first, let's do it this way. Because I think you know, you and I have talked separately on text messages. I think I know where you're leaning in terms who you think is going to take the game. But give us your thoughts since you've been working,

you know, and analyzing this thing. What if X happens, Michigan wins, if X happens, Washington wins. What are those exes? Yeah, yeah, right, Well, I think if Michigan is able to control the line of scrimage on offense, which they love to pound the ball with Blake Kreham, if they're able to do that, you know, then they control They control time of possession, they can control the clock, the field

position. If they can do that. Because you know, McCarthy's an okay quarterback, I think, I mean, I think he's a good quarterback. I don't think they win if they if he has to make plays, although he did make a couple of nice plays against Alabama. You can't, I can't take them away from him. But I think if they can control the offense, if also if Michigan wins, if they can pressure Michael Pennick. And the trouble is nobody's been able to pressure Michael PENNOCKX this year, right

that's I don't know how that plays into them. I think Washington wins if Pennix is Penix, if Pennix makes the terrific throws that he's done, if their offense continues to click the way they've done all year. You know, they've had a couple of bad numerical games. Of course, they played in the rain one time, and that's gonna hurt your stats. I just think Washington Kaylin de Boor is my favorite guy right now. Yeah, I mean,

I love the way he runs an offense. He was an All American wide receiver at a small college in South Dakota I think it was, and then kind of gradually worked his way up the coaching ranks when he was a head coach at President State and twenty twenty one, the year before he went to Washington, he turned this guy Jake Hayner, a quarterback over there, who's you know, a good quarterback, but he turned him into like a

superstar. I had thirty five touchdowns and seven interceptions or something remarkable like that. They beat USC that year for ASD going to stay beat USC that year. I think klein Degore understands offense understands how to get guys open, understands how to make plays, and in a big game with a with a healthy and full throttle panics, I just think they'll figure out a way to win. So do you have a are you like Jay and you have a Heisman vote? You know I used to I guess, I guess I was disbarred

there. I hope it was not from your picks? Was your picks? But had you had one, Uh, where would you have gone with it? Well? I think, you know, it's such a tough deal. I mean, Jalen, Jayde and Daniel was a terrific player. Penis is a terrific player. I probably would have gone with Penix though, just what he did with Washington and uh they're undefeated, LS lost three games, and

Daniels had a terrific year. But I think winning has something to do with it, especially at the quarterback position, because you're in charge of everything. So I would have voted for him. I think, you know, Daniel's had a nice year. There's other other guys you can think about, but in the end, those two we're heading shoulders above. And I just like Pennex's presence. I like the way he was able to He made some big throws and big games and they were able to finish on the season. So

I would have I think I would have voted for him. You know, I've been I've continued to I've continued to canvas for him even after the you know, after the award. You know, people saying he keeps winning games and keeps saying, you know, all these all these analysts and media are saying what a great quarterback he is, and you know, he's gotten into the National Championship game. This guy is incredible. He's hard to stop.

You know, Jim Harbor is gonna have a tough time to say. Okay, butt heads, why didn't you guys who are all saying is vote for him for the freaking Heisman Trophy? You should have won the Heisman Trophy? And down to me hands. I read a good story about that from an Oregon writer who I respect him that and he said, he's you know, they they they looked at some of the votes. They looked on the you know Twitter. Some guys are voting, like before the regular season's over with.

Some guys are voting, you know, it's after ten weeks or eleven weeks or whatever. I mean, you know, that's really not the way you do it. You evaluate the whole body of work and you pick a guy after that, I mean, his his game against they beat Oregon in the PAC twelve title game. He was good. You just you got to wait till the whole thing's over with and then cast your vote. You know, you can still vote for Jayden Daniels if you want to. You got

to wait for the whole thing to end. So the last time we had you on, you were giving advice that you weren't giving. Jay was taking advice from Jack mcgruter. I had no problem with that, and you said, picked at your own risk. So I think you said you're going with Washington, or at least leading that way for uh tonight, for this game. Yeah, oh yeah, I'll take the points. I'll take the points

in the National champion with two National Championship caliber teams. In fact, you may, in fact you're you're you're doing you take the money line, I guess. So okay, well no, no, because you said you said you think they're gonna I think, miss I think Washington's gonna win. The reason why I say, do you know what the numbers game? I think you're right. I think they'll win the game. They'll figure out a way to win the game. How about that, Although that that Texas game is

a little crazy wash. Yeah, no, no, what is some one? And that's why you want to go five. The money line is up plus one. That's that's a pretty good number if you're gonna go number. Yeah, that's a great number for an undefeated team that knows how to win. Sure. So you see, I just have a feeling that, you know, Michigan has not seen a quarterback like Michael Pennix all year long, because there's only one guy like that. And I yeah, and look,

Washington's got Washington's got the bruisers up front that you need. You know, we were talking with Justin Speers a little bit ago that, you know, in the in the in the middle two quarters of the of the Oklahoma Arizona Almi Bowl, it just looked like Arizona's being you know, manhandled on the

on both lines because Oklahoma gets guys that Arizona doesn't get. You know, they Oklahoma's got linemen like excuse me, like uh, Ohio State has, like Michigan has, like Texas has, like even Georgia and Alabama have and they were just manhandling Arizona because the zone doesn't have those guys. They've got more, They've got good guys, but not to that level. And you just thought that just seemed to take over during that game. Washington has those

guys, you know. I feel like Washington is going to be able to protect Michael Pennix. I think he's been sacked eleven or twelve times this year. They played fourteen games already. I mean, that's phenomenal. Part of it, I'm sure is his offense because he delivers a quick often right, No, he's stets three step drop and he's out and they hit one of those guys in the flat or you know, sometimes they go along to Odunza. He's a terrific player. But yeah, I don't, I don't they're

gonna Michigan are gonna have to pressure him. They haven't done a whole lot of that. They're gonna have to pressure him to take him out of his game, to make him ineffective. I mean, if they're gonna win, and so I'm on your side on that, I don't. I don't think they'll do that and be able to pick him up pick them apart a little bit. I mean, and you know, in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking the Big Ten is overrated. Yeah, that sticks in

the don't disagree with it either. They've got two and a half really good teams and the half is Penn State. And beyond that, you know, they're undefeated every year because the rest of the league just absolutely sucks. And that's why they They got blistered in the bowl game this year. Right, they did poor Iowa, you know where they get seven yards against Tennessee or something like that, and they won the Yeah, won the western part of

the division. I mean that's yeah, your division champion average what like not even points a game, like fourteen points or eighteen points a game or something like that. That's that says as much about the league as anything that you can be that bad and still be, you know, in the Big Ten championship game. So I just think it to me, this this goes back to those old Rose Bowls where the Big Ten come to the Rose Bowl and they're facing the team that did stuff that they did that they didn't see all

year long, and the West Coast. Off of the West Coast teams always knew how to pass the ball, and I know Big ten is getting better at that, but the Pac twelve always knew how to beat them through the pass USA UCLA. I mean, those guys it was that's a good that's a good analogis I like that because that's what it looks like to me too. Yeah, Michigan isn't isn't going to see this much and they're going to

have a little trouble with it. Yeah, it should be fun. Let me throw this up, fourteen four pick Parley for the blub from DraftKings. Okay for all of us here number two Washington to win straight up again. It's Michigan Washington plus zero zero point five in the first quarter, Washington plus three and a half at the half, and in Washington RUSUS Michigan over fifty six total. I like that play. It's a fourteen party plus five twenty five. You know the you know what, the worst bet in the betting

is Parlan. That's why they Washington, thank That's why there's so much fun kind of Yeah. I mean, you can go three and one and lose money. That's not a good. That's not I have a losing property. But I've got Yeah, I like that too. Is it. Is it the Michigan the Washington money line they're talking about, or just the point it's Washington Washington, Yeah, just to win the game, which, of course you said you'd like, and I don't mind that, but I think it's

the point zero five in the first quarter that kind of scares me. Who gave that? It's it's Jeff Kings. Okay, that's hardest thing, isn't that? That first quarter is okay, you never know what you know, there's fumble on the kick off. It's six, it's six twenty five. So that's not a bout. That's not a bad bet. If you think Washington's gonna win, that's that's a good way to go. Jack. You've already tainted me. I couldn't take him to win because this stuff is the

last game of the year. I didn't listen to you all year when I am now, oh, well, you know, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I apologize. Now, Washington's gonna win the game. You know, Washington's gonna win the game. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm looking forward to seeing how I'm looking to sit forward to seeing the line play. If Washington hole Michigan back, which they've been able. You know, they

haven't been sacked all year. I think that's a big factor. And I really, I mean, I hate to keep stressing this, but I really think Kaylin de Boor is a good coach. They went into they went into

the PAC twelve championship game as a ten point underdog to Oregon. Can you believe that I watched these the press conference when they you know, the before the championship game, and you could see at least I could see this looking Duboor's eyes like, I mean, he doesn't care about the pointspread, obviously, but can you believe you believe these guys are these guys thinking we're not good enough to win this game. These guys are thinking we can't even come

close to winning this game. I could be he was asked about that. You know, we we don't look at that. But we'll we'll we'll do well. We you know, we'll be there, We'll we'll show up and we'll play. And they sure did. All right, Jack, Okay, so Washington by Washington by how much? Tonight touchdown to Okay? All right,

so we're good luck in the parlor, guys. Well, i I've got at I just took Washington in the over because because because Yeah, it's just it's like, as as I say all the time, life's too short to take the lander and the over. Jay is one of the last you're over four and out and last year, all right, and these guys can score both sides. Yeah, yeah, yeah you can. That's right, all right, Jack, thank you, Hey, thanks about Jack. Good duck back to black guys. That's fun tonight. Yeah. I don't,

I don't know. I Washington winning. Looking for that problem playing with that party said the first it's the first thing that comes up in the in the uh all right, anyway, while I'm down anyways, I'm not doing anything else. I got Washington plus the five and over fifty six. That's where I'm at. I love that bad oh look, and I you know, I'm gonna sit down. I'm gonna watch this game from start to finish. Well by the time I get home, it'll it'll be just getting started.

But I'm watching this. It's gonna be fun. Okay, let's take the break. Let's take our break. We'll be back and we'll close it out and give us a call. Five two zero four, one sixty. We take a call and got a call this call. Hi, You're on the air and I on the Ball. Happy New Year you guys. This is Gabe. How's it going, Gabe? How are you happy? New Year? Sounds like we got happy Gabe today. Yeah. What's the word. Uh, I'm happy

that Arizona bounced back in the Mountain trip. I mean, when the Rocky Mountain Schools came to McHale, I am happy with the football program beating against against the blue blood against Oklahoma. I'm aware that Johnny Nansen I went to Texas because Steve sarkisian Is is one of his uh, one of his friends, and so any news about who's gonna who's gonna be promoted or what's going on, I think it's too early. It's it's way too early. You

know. There's obviously a lot of a lot of local interest in having h Duyne Aquina take that job. He was a defensive coordinator here but back in the day. But I don't know the Duayna Quina really wants to do that. That sounds like a lot of work. I think he's gonna go somewhere else. I mean, I'm thinking that general pick somebody. Yeah, I think I think genill go get one. You know, he knows so many

people in the coaching ranks both NFL and in college. I would imagine he'd go get you know, somebody who's you know, who's done this before. And you know, I don't and I don't know the Dony King would want to be that guy. It sounds like too much work for a guy who's what close to seventies, you know. So, but we haven't heard anything.

You've heard nothing. Yeah, I kind of agree with you. I think uh A Kina would be a co defensive coordinator, and I've seen Jeff Fish would probably want to get another good recruiter that would be a defensive coordinator, just to help recruiting wise. So on Sunday, you know, Congeica right committed to the dumbasses up north. I'm wondering where're gonna go with this? I knew it. I'm not gonna Well, go ahead, but don't cuss. Yeah, don't cuss, but go ahead. Why would you do

that? I mean Arizona went to Alamov and and and and uh at one. I don't understand and understand why would you go to a pathetic bottom the veltl uh uh full of humans seek think, will matter. Uh. So you don't understand why would you do that? But we talked about this, we talked about this earlier when we had Justin Spears on. So, Gabe, what are you get in your degree in? Uh? Zoology? Zoology? So if you go to a zoo and you work, I'm hoping I'm

getting the accurate you get. And then the boss says, well, you know, Gabe, you're not gonna be up here. You're not gonna be have a chance to move up. We love you here where you're gonna be active, but you're not gonna be able to move up for a while. Uh, You're you're gonna behind the scenes. And you're thinking, you know what, I think, I want to go be more more visible than what I do. What would you do not go to s u Well, I

mean I wouldn't go to the so you'd work at the zoo. That's saying okay, yeah, I wouldn't go to the where the dumbasses and Tempe lift. I mean, come on, come on, people who go to that school usually uncle dragging me. Okay, man, we hope you you never have a good opinion that that's funny. All right, Gabe, We appreciate that. Thats stay well, okay between him and Nico, I'm not too sure relentless all right, Yeah, I gotta take a little care of care

of a little business here. DraftKings Sports Booking, official sports betting partner of the NFL Playoffs, is bringing you an offer that will I'll make the playoffs electri fine. Don't forget. If you haven't joined them, please do use our code yeah code fourteen fifty and again. You know, those are some interesting lines. You know, you can bet money lines

on all of those because you know, if they're close games. If I've always been of the opinion if it's a three three points spread or less, you know, three two, whatever, just take the money line because a game's got to be one. You know, the game can't tie, so generally a game is won by three points or more. But that should be a lot of fun. But I said the Cowboys big favorites over the Packers, and the Bills big favorites over the Steelers, who snuck in with all

the weird stuff that happened right of the weekend when the Eagles. The Eagles are giving three to Dampa Bay, which makes no sense because they've just been terrible they've gone. I mean, you want to see it. Talk about a team that's just coming into the day. Yeah, okay, I'm coughing up along. Man. That read was hard because I had to suppress a lot of cough going into that going into that read. Anyways, all right, back to the game tonight, Steve. It should be fun. We'll

see what happens. If Washington comes out big early, which we are very capable of doing. I think that will help them. Because Michigan's a running team, right and they we have at they'll have a hard time coming back from having to run all the time. Right. Well, this is clearly one of those games that you know, the teams play at two different paces,

so which whichever team dictates the pace? You know, if if Michigan can run the ball, keep the ball away from Michael Penix, then obviously that that favors them and they'll you know, they'll have a big chance of winning. And that game, if that game happens like that, that game will go under and everything I bet will go right in the toilet. But if Bennix comes out and he's flinging the ball all over the place, he's finding time to throw I think that, you know, Wash and he's got

a bunch of receivers that that Michigan hasn't had to face before. If he comes out and he's slinging it, and even if Michigan is scoring with them, if they can't stop Washington, Washington will out score. That's all I see. Yeah, it should be fun. I'm looking forward to it. Most of the games have been good Washington. Like I say, do you like to pack twelve? The storyline? This is it for them? This is it, man, this is it for them. The nice way to

go around and like the storyline from the standpoint that that's happening. But yeah, I mean a nice way to go away on top, right, Yeah, Cleoff Koff is gonna be there. He needs to stay out of the way. He has to be there, but he needs to just kind of

be a little incognito people. You know, he's just giving people a chance to rip on him because you know, he had as much to do with I get a lot of things happened before he got there, But in the end, he's the guy who couldn't get the TV deal thing that wouldn't kept a big alive. He's the guy who got blindsided by USC and U c l A, you know, leaving the league back when the and then kind of got another blind setted by a shoe saying we can get a better deal.

Yeah, and you know, trusting the wrong people. Yeah, you're dead. So I don't know, he needs this s out of the way. But he'll he'll be there, you know, he'll show up somewhere. Somebody will see him, you know. But no, it's it's it's it's sad. You know, I'm not going to shed a tear, but it'll be you know, it'll be sad tonight when you realize that, you know, the PAC twelve football is dead. I mean just literally dead in the

ground. Put a headstone on it. It's over. You know. We'll get some people in here who've been a big part of the PAC clave, you know, yeah over the years, over the years, get Willner to come in here and talk about it. Maybe some other some other folks, some other players, players who have played in it. We gotta get to you know what. That surprised me. I'm sure you saw it. Did you read the Blue Blood story? And I thought, yeah, you would

have told me by now. But the comment, was it the comment, who's the the Jet Given award to the comment I asked if he was alive still uh the best player ever in oh uh uh Arlopino. Yeah, yeah, so he whenever we didn't know whether even a live or not. No, he's they gave him. He was living in Sanato. He went over and gave him a because we kind of give him on the show. I don't know how how Tom we I'm just hoping that he would be able to have it. You know. Yeah, we can find we can finally see

how that was. Yeah, he's up there in age. So let's let's try to find that. That'd be fine because you know, because he's a guy that he's like the one guy that you know today people when you think about past. Yeah, and you know, for all those people who can't even get past the early eighties or whatever, he's the one guy. Sure you say, Art Lapina, they go, oh yeah, Art Lupine, Sure sure. And that was your brother, your brother seventy something Rick yea.

So he did he watch him? He was able to. He might have because his two great years well he would have been he would have been under ten years old, but great years. We're in the fifties, you know, and my brother was born in fifty Okay, so maybe maybe as a nine year old or whatever. Yeah, so we'd have to find you know, how good was he? Everybody thinks the world has been right, right, right, but yeah, but yeah, you know, it's it's

it's incredibly sad that that we've come to this. But I'm not gonna lie, Steve, I'm not gonna lie. I think the road to a potential Rose Bowl for Arizona is much better than it's been up to now. Do you know what that's called a backdoor cover? It would be it would be the ultimate back door cover if Arizona would be would get into the Roads ball.

Here's I'm already running this through my mind. Let's say Arizona's wins back to the Big twelve and they're one of the you know, one of the four teams that gets a bye, and they're and you know, the sixth New Year six Bowl game. Okay, are they gonna Are they gonna put the Big ten team in the Rose Bowl? Or would they let Arizona come in play in a Rose Bowl because they were in the pack. You have your own answer. You're asking that question. Do you have your own answer?

Oh? I know my answer. But what would the Rose Bowl want to do? Yeah, they was, they would want. I would think the would want of course, because the whole city would you go, Yeah, the whole city would go. But in your karma and you're not karma in your in your football. Nobody would like a dagger in my side, wouldn't they? Whiskens always want will go the other way? Damn it, Jeeve, I know, no, I think that way. I do. I do believe that that some somebody would screw it up for us if if,

if that were to happen. Yeah, but I don't know. We'll see what I'll say. But I feel like I feel like the you know, the door has opened up again where I thought it had completely closed because I thought Arizona was gonna wind up. How did you come up with this conversation? You've been thinking about it or someone brought it up to you?

No, I thought I thought of it so because again all the way back to when you know, when it looked imminent that Arizona was going to the big club, I was immediately thinking, wait a minute, Oklahoma and Texas are gone, you know, And this is when Arizona was you know, second half of the season Arizona's doing. I'm that Wait a minute, Arizona gets in the Big Twelve, They're gonna be a favorite in the Big twelve. The road, the road to the playoff is much easier out of the

Big Twelve than any other league. I mean, when is usc going to get in there again? When is you know? When's Ucla is never gonna get in. Ucla may have made the biggest mistake of their their athletic life. And by doing this and then Oklahoma and Texas, they're going to go to the SEC. How are they going to get in there? Yeah? Right, it's gonna be competitive, But I don't think it's gonna be competitive for UCLA. I think they've committed Yeah, yeah, just for the money.

Yeah, to survive. Yeah. Well, we understand that Arizona will be going through it's his situation with the school and all that. So we'll see what happens. He good show. What I really found. I did go by really fast. Thank you to Justin Oh we should again plug Justin spears his show uh seven to nine am weekdays of ESPN Radio fourteen ninety. I want to make sure that you get that we don't feel like we compete with him. He goes, he comes on our show, we go on

his show. He and Oli do a great job. So be sure to listen to Justin on weekday mornings. And then thank you again to Jack Mcgrider's always fun to get him on. Go dogs, Jack, You and I we're on. We got it. Uh yeah, I had I had it before. I just kiss him death? Are you he didn't do any better? Rub you, rub the skulls, run, rub the stall. All right, Hey, thanks everybody for being here to follow us on the podcast,

and we'll see what happens with the National Championship game tonight. We'll be back tomorrow to talk about it.
