Steve Rivera and Jacin Salis. They have their Eye on the Ball on Tucson's Sports. Stay shat Fox Sports fourteen fifty and they welcome back to Iron the Ball Here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Riverta. He's Jagen's Aux with some breaking news. This is Eye on the Ball, breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. All right, Steve, let's start with some of the biggest news in the history of sports, involving show Heyo ton oh so Gezha.
Dodgers might take off fifteen minutes, seven hundred million dollars over ten years, almost double the richest contract ever in Major League Baseball and believed to be the richest contract in the history of the sports. It costs of do you a Dodger dog of seventy five dollars seed a Dodger dog. You know what if if they win a World Series because of it, I'll pay the seventy
five bucks for a Dodger dog. It was funny because you know, there was all this taught that he was on his way to Toronto, and it all turned out to be erroneous. Somebody screwed it up. He was going to be a Dodger the whole time. Dave Roberts in an interview earlier in the week, pretty much, I was gonna thrown the hint out and stuff. Here. Here's a funny story. So we're standing for the national anthem at the Arizona game, right and you know we're where we're down on the
floor. And so when I you know, when we when the nation anthem comes on, you know, I faced the flag, you're facing that end of the arena, and my son Adam, who's ten times bigger Dodger fan than I am. He's to my left at the table, so he's behind me. When then, you know, when when we're doing the national anthem, so we stand, I'm looking at the flag. You know, they announced who the singer of the national anthem is, and then I hear my
son behind me go holy blank. And I turned around like I thought something happened in the stands or somebody fell or whatever. He goes the Dodgers just shine jow. Hey, you already knew that. No, I didn't, because we had been texting you on that thread, uh me and oh I hadn't seen it, Okay, I hadn't seen it. Okay, Yeah,
you're busy before a games. Apparently your son isn't well. He he took one, he took a look at his phone for some reason, you know, and he said, holy expletive, the Dodgers just signed show hey, And I'm like, you've got national anthem going on right here right now. But he couldn't believe it. And we were, you know, a little high fiving and stuff like that. Even Brett Hanson, you know Brett, he was, he was sitting in the seats across the way from us.
Even even he texted me about it. It was a crazy thing, I mean, unbelievable. Yeah, I saw him here. I didn't realize for the game that billis was there, and so was past Yeah, so you know, I didn't even see that. We went out to dinner over on University Bovard Friday or Friday night, Friday night over a main gate, and my daughter swear she saw Billis there. Probably I swear billis, Well, he's doing the game. Well, he was the third or fourth or fifth
the most recognizable guy there. Right, we'll be the couple being Francona and Kerr. All right, So you know, it was one of those games where they brought those guys that brought the house man. Yeah, they brought the house and it worked. It worked, all right, Okay, a lot of well, let me get into a couple of other things. First of all, Team ac Tatoroy McMillan, Arizona receiver sophomore named a third team AP All American, which you know you do that that always sets you up
for next year. You know you can expect him to be you know, probably maybe even a first team All American next year. Uh. The the AP All American team came out today. Not surprisingly, the Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels was the first team. Quarterback Michael Pennis was second team. Bow Knicks was third team. Uh. Mcmallan was the only Arizona guy who was on the first, second, or third teams. But you know, it's
not a lot of surprises. All the guys that that you've been talking about at receiver, the guys that came in ahead of McMillan, Troy Franklin from Oregon, really good player, Alike Washington from Virginia never heard of him, uh. Uh, and Luther Burden at Missouri. Uh. And then I think those are the second team. I'm sorry because I thought, yeah, my mylik neighbors, l s U, Marvin Harrison Junior, Ohio State,
Romo Doozy Washington. And I was listening to those guys that I tell you listened to all the time, Ross Dellinger, Uh Pat forty, uh Wessel. Wessel is not a Heisman voter forty and Dellinger forty had the three in order. He had, he had Daniels, he had Panix, he had he had a Bone Nicks, Russ Dellinger, he had, he had, he had Daniels, he had Bone Nicks. Then he had the Washington receiver. He didn't even have Michael Pennix in his top three. How do you
tell how did he justify that? Did? He just said he just saw Washington and he just put no no. He said he specifically when he thought row he thought Michael Penix was really good because of Romo Denzy, and I just don't agree with that. I had my ballot on Twitter on on Sunday morning. I had, I had Panics, I had Nicks. And then when Marvin Harrison Junior, I just felt, and I still feel that that Jane Daniels was just a stat accumulator. He piled up a bunch of big
stats on games that ultimately didn't matter. They lost that first game to to Florida State. They were never in it. Thought he accumulated stats the course of the year. I get it, his numbers were huge and and you know, Michelle Gardner made a comment that it's not a team award, that she thought Jaye Daniels servant. Well, well, my point was it was a team award back when a couple of Stanford guys should have won it, and they gave it to the best player on the best team, both of
them from Alabama. So back then it was a team award. And all of a sudden, you know, the great teams that should have had guys that should have won it are on the West coast. Well, we're gonna give it to the individual guy who had great individual don't dis abdun't. In fact, the boat Nicks is a victory or two away from winning it. I think because he lost two games Washington, I said I would still take him over Pennix, and I couldn't tell you why, but I really liked
the way he plays. Well. My vote came down to the winner of that Oregon Washington game that was it I decided, you know, I hadn't decided on my third place. Guy. Oh, I'm sorry. We have we have a guest. Oh gee, we forgot about him, right, Oh, we did forget him. Must have guilt, right, right, so he's I just got a text. Okay, so we'll we'll hold on to this. We'll hold on to this. Let me see, go ahead and give me one more right now. Yeah, yeah, we were supposed
to have I know, I forgot. Yeah, I was looking the thing thinking, why am I looking at the thing? Well, that was it. I'm gonna have them. Yeah, we can go a little longer and then we'll we'll we'll wrap this up on the other side. But anyways,
that that was my point. And then that's you know, so I'm not surprised Daniels won because you know, and then the other argument made this had been flipped Jaydon Daniels on the west coast and Panics and and Nicks are on the you know, in the east, one of them would have won. Totally agree that had given it to the quarterback of the best team. Sure, just just and that's how that's how I looked at it, Because if he's that valuable or that good. Should have his team playing better, right,
nine and three finished third in their division in the CC. Sorry, you gotta do better than that. All right, Well let's hopefully Gil. Look that was stupid. Okay, well we'll see what We'll see Gil already. Uh, I'm just selected to the uh Pemama Community College Sports Hall of Fame along with our friend have your Morales and a couple the guy's Jack holl is going to be a guest of the show tomorrow. So what Gil's Gil was a great picture Pima, great picture of Arizona. Ten years in the
major leagues. And hopefully he's gonna he's not mad at us. He's gonna go. Yeah, he's out, He's out and about somewhere. Here we go, Here we go, Here we go. Let's see. Hey, this is Steve Raveraron Jakins Omas, Is this Gil? This is Gil? Do you Gil? Hey, don't get old like us old dudes. We we we had you, we got you know what the hell do we know? Son of a gun? Thanks for calling us. I know where you at. You're like at disney World or no work. No, I'm in
back, I'm not in bikeyard. Yeah, I'm in dian Well thank you for calling. We we had we usually have our guests in and then we've been talking and said, oh God, we got Gilled Jo Gil. Great to have you. I'm hoping you can stay on for a little bit. Congratulations on your announcement of Pima. How how big is that for you? Oh? It was a great advent. Honestly, I think it was one of the most recognized events that I've been to where I actually felt the energy
and I felt the I guess that's what happened. When you get older, you feel the warmth of what people have touch that helped you and become mentors. And that's what exactly I'm doing now. I'm not a teacher, I'm an instructor. I'm a pitching coach, and I know how important it is to be able to communicate and give people opportunities. You know, Gil, you're on one of the rare guys, particularly in that period of time, that came out of Pima and got an opportunity to play play at Arizona.
How do you think that you know that time that you had at PEMA set you up for a couple of years that you had at Arizona, which included the College World Series Championship. Well, I think it was, like I spoke on it yesterday in my speech, where I got the opportunity from Coach all Day coming from the Gallas, the in program that we had down there when we were always contenders in the state tournament, but coming into the junior
college realm of things, I kind of it was an easy move. Not easy, it was a more comfortable movem instead of a major university, I guess for a young eighteen year old kids. But no, they gave me the opportunity. The teammates that I had there as the higher classmen, sophomores, Bobby Field, Jeff Heard. There's a lot of pitches that I learned from, but I also learned some of the stuff not to do, and
it was just a learning experience. So at what point, kind of to go with Jay's question, at what point did you kind of feel you have potential to be a major leaguer. I know you're probably still young thinking not even thinking that, or maybe you do, but at what point did you feel that? To be honest, I didn't think. I mean I never thought about being a major leaguer until I was probably in the minor league playing
Triple A, thinking that I had the opportunity. But when you really get to call, when you really had that opportunity to get to the top, then you're going, Wow, that's what it took to be able to get to the highest level but not want to be able to stay there. Yeah, But I didn't think anything like that when I was a little leaguer. I didn't think anything when I was in Bebrue. I didn't think anything when
I was in high school. Once I got drafted the first year, my freshman year at Penas, that's when I started thinking, when I have an opportunity. I know, the guys get to the big leagues right away, but it was not the case for me. I knew that there was going to be a lot of hard work and you know, determination to be able to get to the highest level, but to be able to continue to do that hard work, because we you know, we hear the stories. Being
in the minor leagues is not easy. I know, there's probably a lot of people that got there or you're a professional baseball player, and how hard can it be? But it has to be a lot of work and a lot of ups and downs. You know what what made you keep working? Did you always you said you didn't know if you're gonna get to the majors? But was that the carrot that was out there in front of you? Were you Were you thinking about that as you did the lifting and the workouts
and all that kind of stuff. Oh? Absolutely, I mean when I worked, when I ran, it's a grind, not only on the field or off the field. But you have to have the full support as far as all around, as far as a team. You know, my my wife, my family, everybody has to be in to be able to have a support group that always has you know, your back. But it always comes down to the individual as far as Yeah, you can work as hard as you want, but you got to have that drive and determination and you
got to have luck too. I mean, you definitely have to have a little bit of luck. Yeah, time a time and going with the right team and all that. For two dudes who played the little a little ball and then dreamed the dream, how was it being a major league player? Just like what you guys are saying, the greatest feeling. It just brings back a lot of your your fruits of labor that that you've done and you continue doing what it is, and to be able to stay there is really
the hardest thing to do, you know. And and that's what I accomplished by still going down in the minor league's learning and making adjustments going back to the league, big league, going back to the minor league. It was just like that roller coaster that I'm at here in Disneyland, right, yeah, sure, sure we're talking. We're talking to Gil already. PEMA College Sports Hall of Famer National Championship at Arizona ten year Major League. What was
the first stadium for your first major league game? And what was that like, you know, walking out of the dug out onto the field for the first time. Where were you? I was in San Francisco playing in Candlestick Park. It was an afternoon day game on Sunday, I believe, and we were playing the Saint Louis Cardinal. I came in relief because we were getting beat pretty well, and it was a great opportunity for a rookie to
come in and pitch. And I think, I I believe that I've only got one out, or maybe I finished one any but I ended up giving I believe I gave up five runs. It was and I gave up a home run. But it was just a field that I was pitching in a big league ballpark and all my senses were just going to one hundred percent, and it was I remember, it was a great feeling. Yeah, it was that I wish I would have done better. Yeah, but I got there and everybody just came back and said, you know what, that's your
first one and you're gonna be better than that. Sure, and you had a pretty good career. I think you finished above five hundred right after all those years. I did finish above five hundred. I did pretty good into realm with things as far as staying healthy. I think I can always take a lot of pride in saying that I'd never spent one day in the in the injured list. So that's that's a big accomplished accomplishment for me. Uh. And not only that. I did do some offensive work too. I
did get some base hits. And you showed my own that I can handle the bath sure are you? Uh? I guess if you went back to No Gallas, you'd be the mayor. You could run for the mayor. No, that's my that's one of my good friends from that I had from high school. Our quarterback from high school is now the mayor in a gallaxy. He tells me that there's a lot of there's a lot of what's the
great word to that? I guess it's politics, you know what. Everybody you can kind of craft if you want to deal with, we won't we won't kill you. Yeah. God no, So I do not want to be the mayor. No, the honorary Mary. Maybe for one day I would take but that's it. I no, no what and uh you found you're out. You must be enjoying life now, not having you teaching kids. I'm sure you get a lot of questions about how how do we become
guil Well, that's really the important questions that everybody asks. And I work with a lot of Latin players, which is one of my forteses because I'm bilingual, so I can teach and talk to with Dominicans, Venezuelan, Panamania. All the Latin players which come from Latin America have a great opportunity to be able to do what they want to do as far as their dream. But the biggest key for them now is players are being They're different now.
These guys have big arms, they have big velocities, and what I try to teach them is the importance that to be able to control the zone, to be able to control fastball. And that's one thing that it's hard to teach because that takes practice and hard work in both and all that, if that makes any sense, makes a lot of sense. Can you wrap your mind around at all? Around shotany in a seven hundred million dollar contract. I knew that questions we're gonna I knew that question was gonna pop up.
And I work for the Angel You do? Oh? You do? I know that? Okay? Yeah, obviously I saw him warm up a couple of times in spring training, and I talked to his assistant or whatever he called his guru getting his velocities with these little portable velocity readers. He is definitely a unicorn. I just didn't know that he was really that good of what he does with both sides of the the spectrum with baseball. It's unbelievable.
He's a unicorn. Yeah, could you in your time and this may be a dumb question, but could there have been another show hey in the last twenty five years if they really wanted to. We see a guy at Colorado going both ways. Now, could we have done that before? And you know what, there was a lot of good pictures that can hit, but they never obviously give him the opportunity. I do remember some of the
pictures going in there and pinshitting so they can bunt. But there was some guys I don't know if you guys recall a guy that used to pitch for the Diamondback. His name was Micah Only. Yeah, he was a very very good He was a guy that can hit home runs. I mean, this guy can hit. But as far as the the aspect of what shohe does compared to what he does, I mean, Johy can run. He's also fat, he's left handers, he can I mean he does it all.
Yeah, well that's kind of crazy. But you know again, none of us have ever you said, a unicorn, none of us have ever seen this, and it's it. It's been fun to watch. I happen to be a Dodger fan, so I'm kind of happy with how this thing turned out. So how about the Dodgers. Yeah, well, the whole craziness of the of the last few days, you know, oh, he's going to Toronto and all this stuff. Just just the magnitude of what was
happening. Yeah, just watching the Baseball the Major League Network and seeing what has opened because there's still a lot of free agents that are in the market. And I don't know if you guys understand, but I don't know the logistics to the contract, but I think a lot of some of the money is deferred, so that still gives the opportunity for the Dodgers to still sign some premiere arms or hitters to make them even that much better for the regular
season. But the bottom line to any organization or any team getting to the playoffs is obviously getting to the World Series and winning the World Series, and that's even harder to do. So what do you do for the Angels? I'm up to own a pitching coach. I'm an actual minor league pitching coach. Oh okay, and I worked for player development. I've been doing it for four years with the Angels. I did it for thirteen years for the Diamondbacks. So it was fun to see some of the players that pitched and
had success in the World Series. So dumb question. So when you were a kid growing up in Nogaas, what did you want to do when you grew up. To be honest, I wanted to be a pilot, like a like a pilot, like an armed military pilot, navy aviator. I love planes. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pilot. And obviously that changed real quick. Right after my senior year in high school, I found out that there is a lot of demand. Got to study, you got to do this and that, and I'm going, nah,
I'm gonna Hey, it's a lot of math. Man. I've seen Top Gun a couple of times. It's a lot of math. Yeah. And I was really good with math, and that's why I liked it and I enjoyed. But I really enjoy the thrill of the aviation and all the military planes that I'm I'm still a big, big advocate to that. Well, baseball has been very very good to you. As they said, No, no, baseball was really good. Yeah, Gil, thanks so much for sticking with us. I appreciate your patience. Man, Oh, no
problem. Let's see if we can get those talent for lines better. No, we just didn't see it. We just didn't see it. We're it's a long story. We don't want to know long story. I thought I would have to start a campfire. Please do, please do the next time. It probably works better than our phone system. Thank you, Gil. We appreciate it much, all right, enjoy be well. Thank you appreciate it. Give ready from the angels. I didn't know. All right,

We got about ten minutes just under and then we're gonna take a break.
We're gonna take a break and then we'll wrap up. Okay, I'll take your calls right now to someone's calling right now, let's do that. You are on the air and id the ball. Hello, you're on You're on the air. Yes, are you doing it's more? Move tank Garra sounds like moan Garra? How what you did? You butt? Dallas? What's going on? What's going on? No? Min now? Do everything fine? Thank you? Good to hear from you. Yeah, what's the word? What's the word? Well? How about that one? Is this?
Did you just text me? No? Okay, okay, okay, because I got a call from what I more? Talk about that? How let's talk about that? What do you see? Uh mo? I mean, what what how do you feel he's progressed over the last couple of years. I think like he he's got place where I think it's gotta do with the coach because for foreign players like him, he'd been through to lie he was in the Spain. Let home go to the Spain. So he bounce
run and find someone like I can't trust you. Like I think that the environment and what the coach said for him, a guy him do things like you know some amazing stuff. Yeah, I think it's the coach, the boundary between him and the head coach like Tomments. I think that's that's all I see what I watch because I see myself, you know, like when you have with the environment is in right now. It's just he's got everything around him and the rest is just he's got to perform. He worried about
anything like I was worried by Home. I was worried by then. So he don't he does not have any And I'm just saying, like, I'm so excited every game when I watch, I just like, oh my god, you don't know how much child, I'm excited with the program and with a bottle into it is amazing. So now they play against the best player, at least the biggest best player that they'll face this year. How do you defend? How do you defend a guy like that? He talking about
different defend the battle he's going to face. Yeah, man, I think I think it's the will. Like he he recognized where he at. I think he knows what's going on. He's wearing of everything right now. I think he is just preparing the way that preparing him, the way he prepare
at himself. I think he's gonna he will be fine. Then it's it's uh, you know, I mean one of the things that's been great about what we're seeing in Arizona's You've got Umar who's starting out there, and then off the bench comes this you know, Mo Crevis, who's you know, played pretty well to give them a one to two combo in there. You know, what can what can Ballow do to help Creevous, who is a true freshman, you know, get his footing and and how can he help
him? I think mentoring, he's kind of you knowep communicating with him, make sure, uh, just cheering for him because every moment that you know, the backup big men come in, He's gotta windn't think that's the bonus for him, Like, you know, I him going back and do his things. Just be one of his biggest fans and to get bent on him. I think that's all he needs to do is because the rest I mean boats taking care of that. So he just gotta be uh big bonotype the
stuff that the backup big man can do and he cannot do. He's gotta be able to the really you know, cheer for that chick game. You know, he's he's not fast as on the bigs, but he can do stuff. So if that if the cover of you with some some minutes and they get in, get a good minute when you come in, you gotta finish it. And at the same time, you gotta let those guys know what they did. Uh, just be cheer for them, like whatever time thead right right, Well, how how good you think this team is?
We've been talking about that. How good are they? No? You know? Then the crazy thing about this, like when I watched the game I'm watching as a fan, that's kind of like that's what I'm really really kind of like a scary I don't even like trying to, you know, watch the game as a coach or I'm just like, like the biggest fan. I think it's gonna be excited because that know they've been through to say almost
same scenati. Last year we had a really good run and you know, we got hit in the mouth right the first So I think they know what's going on. I think we're gonna be good. I mean, knock on the hood, no injury. I would say we're good, but we got some injury. I don't wish that's gonna be the thing, but that that mature doesn't know what's going on. You got a mature of the team, and that's a scary. So let me ask you a dumb stupid question because
well you know I asked dumb stupid questions. Uh so you so you came here with the dream of playing here, and you did it with lout and then unfortunate situation with Kevin. But I'm sure you wish that your your career would have been like bollows, Yes, and then that that's I think that's what I become his biggest fan because the stuff that I was in I was set to achieve. I didn't. So if I see him achieved, Dad,
like man, I'm like I'm satisfied. Yeah, like I don't have any more graduate like one went wrong winning with Arizona because Bao, when I watch him play and when I watch him perform, when he's he's do things and the way he's celebrating, it's just like I love it. I think he uh, he's in the great stitition. I wasn't a great stitition, but I was not lucky to be his level. But I think he he make he make my day sometimes when I watch him play. Honestly, it
sounds like you really love watching the guy. Is Is he an NBA player? Do you think I would say yes? I think if if you're getting a situation when someone take a chance, because he's uh, he's a big man who's more down but you know in the NBA we don't have that anymore. But his strength, like he's strongness under the basket. I think somebody
can use that. Yeah, I think if he gets in the great situation where they're going to develop him, like helping him, not not to say okay, we're gonna get you the frenchise tag, but let's let's see if we can develop you, like, you know, be more quicker. And because he's got the high, he got the defense, and you know, and in the NBA, that's a couple of bigs, but he can't really play against. I mean, I hope, I mean that's my dream. I want to see him in the NBA, but I think he needed some
work when he gets that though. No, you just need to teach him how to shoot pritos, right right. I know it is so big and tight. I think that it's like a second baby shot. Just got to hit those. Hey, thanks for the call. We got to see each other, no problem, no problem, thank you, all right, thank you, all right, thanks much for a nice surprise. Thank you surprise. That was a great surprise. Yeah, thank Aaron Man. But you know, again, you know, if a guy a guy, a guy
who knows exactly what Umar Bellow is joining and going through. And it's great that he calls, right, I know that he he left, he left not a good terms. I mean, he played for Kevin and Kevin didn't play him. Yeah, yeah, and in that situation was just what it was. Uh, but good to see him kind of living through right right, and that and that's very cool because he's obviously he has you know, has an influence on him and wants him to wants him to do well,
and as he said, he cheers for him big time. So that's very cool. All right, let's go take our last break here. We're gonna come back. Still haven't wrapped up breaking news. This is High on the Wall with Steve Rivera and Jacob Salez on Fox Sports fourteen. Hey, welcome back to Winning the Ball you know on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve Rivera, Peter Jacobs. As we got about thirteen minutes. If you guys want to give us a quick call, we can take
your call. So I just got to tech. There was a cool call from low Yeah, very cool call from Tangara out of the blue, out of the believe, talking about rumor Ballo. You know, I feel like Umar has kind of been lost in the shof a little bit, you know, because of you know what's happening with with Keisha Johnson and Caleb Love and I've call him about all those guys, but he's still been solid. He
had a couple of big plays. He had that throwdown dunk that I still don't know how he was able to dunk it from where he was on that pick and roll from Caleb Love. Yeah, he didn't really dunk it. He just kind of threw it in the basket from from the top. Brought the house down. He had, you know, he had a couple of those, and it was just he was umar. You know, he was one point one, one rebound short of a double double. And you know, as was a keishat Johnson. So you know, just again solid all
the way around for Arizona and that's why they're winning games. They're eight now, all right, So let's do this one more time. Let's get the last of it in. I'll go ahead and play. The thing is high on the ball Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Somebody listening to the show is going, what the hell, it's not four o'clock. What's what's going on? This is the breaking of the breaking news for the broke news. The breaking news is that breaking news didn't happen when the breaking news is
supposed to. All right, So we did mention Arizona State at number one in the in the AP Pole. The cool thing about the cool thing about the poll this because that Perdue moved up a spot. So they're number three. Neither Arizona or Purdue plays until they play each other on Saturday, so it's gonna be a one versus three on Saturday. And you know, the biggest complaint of this is it's on Peacock. That's the biggest complaint. This
is how the world works. The world works. So I work for real tour and blah blah blah, and and it's the same time all the time. You know it's coming. People don't get it because the traffic and blah blah blahlah. You know what's coming. We tell people all this stuff, but they don't know until it's on top of you. Right. So now they've said it's gonna be on Peacock for a while now for a while now, people are still it's going to be on Peacock. How did this happen?
It was gonna be on Peacock months ago. This is didn't happen. We've known, we know for a while a lot of Big ten games are on Peacock. Right now, they've got a contract. Peacock is a is a it's sort of a it's an offshoot of NBC. That's where they're kind of over overflow stuff. Nobody thought there was gonna be a one versus three game, you know when they when they set that game, and and you
know, and and again big the basketball is different from football football. The games get set on their networks a week and a half, about two weeks ahead of time, sometimes only a week ahead of time. It fluctuates. That's the way that system is set up. College basketball games, they set those before the season, months before the start, because they just got so this game got set at a time when certainly nobody thought Arizona was going to
be doing what it's doing. And that and that you know, we stopped producing. Gonna be goodcause of Zach Eatie. But yeah, you know, nobody out there about this is gonna be a one versus three games. Otherwise it wouldn't have been on Peacock. But it is. Deal with it, right, Steve, Well, you have no choice. You can complain how he was no choice. Okay, all this hoopla, not hoopla, just
this stuff about that that call in the Chiefs game yesterday. Oh the over duds off side, he was He's off side, and Andy Reid came out today and said that if you ever watch the wide receivers, they go out to their spot, they look at the ref, they point at him, they get a thumbs up or a thumb's down, or he'll tell him to back up or whatever. Andy Reid admitted that Cadarry Tony did not do that for that play. If you had to look to the reft, the reft
would have said back up, and that never would have happened. Right, So anybody, including the Chiefs, were saying it was anybody's fault, but his blaming the ref because they never call that. Dude, it was so blatant, so obviously they had to call it. I didn't see if they don't call it, the bills are pissed. Sure, sure, No, I didn't see it until I saw the highlight of it. It was a
nice play. But yeah, I know you're right if your flag came out immediately, I mean the play started and you saw the flag in the air, right, and you knew it was something on the chief The more concerning part of the whole thing is what's going on with the kind with the Chiefs big picture? Yeah, right, because they're supposed to be better than they are. They ate five hours. Yeah, they're just not playing by Yeah, they're not certainly not the world champion Chiefs. And I'm pissed because I've
been picking them all year. I think I've picked them five times this year. They've only covered for me, so they're not to you. They are dead to me now, well five times the Chiefs. I mean, you can keep picking because you keep thinking win. You know he's dead to me too. But Baltimore, your Detroit. Oh they disappointed me three times. Oh yeah, not only have they not cooked well, no, I think
they've lost twice and then didn't cover against the Bear. I was the accidental picker last week with them because I saw well because I didn't tell you my myla Lock and you had no idea how much. I didn't want to pick the Lock because you had picked them. But then I had no choice because Baltimore didn't do anything. I'm still not sold on Dallas, so I couldn't do that. So I went to Detroit because they've been fairly good to me, and then they just, oh god, they're not that good. Maybe
I was sold on something from earlier in the year. Because they're not the team anymore maybe or did you don't don't. I don't want to know what you've done anything with them because it's thirteen points. That's a lot of points. But I need the point. I need the one point. Again, if we said it was either gonna be bad for you or good for me, and it was bad for you, yeah, well it's still you have two points. So if you need this game tonight for two points, I
need to Yeah. Yeah, not good, not good. Hope I didn't wreck your season, wrecked my season. I got four more weeks to really do something. Well, Hey, we were talking about Arizona's ranking. PEMA College men's basketball or women's basketball. Bro ranked ranked fourteenth. The men should be up there to they're kicking there ain't no when they're killing people. I didn't see that. I just saw the women's Yeah, I'm yon who's texting
me earlier because they're killing they're scoring a ton of points. Yeah, you said they're undefeated, right, I think they're eight No, two, Oh, they're also fourteen. They're fourteen two. Okay, about fourteen in the country. When you think about the number of junior colleges out there, that's that's pretty damn right in their style of play. They'd like to run. Oh no, they're doing great, all right. Uh, the transfer portal
is all over the place. Guys opting out of boat Bowl games. Sam Hartman, the quarterback of Notre Dame, says, I ain't going to al Passo. He's not gonna play in the sun Ball when they're playing Oregon State. I think they're playing. So he's he's not gonna play in the sun Ball. And then lie up, lie up, lay out to lat To. The defensive lineman from u C. L A said he's skipping the l A Bowl where they were going to play Boise State. Again. Guy's gonna
be a number one draft pick. He's a PAC twelve defensive Player of the Year, first team All American. He's gonna say, I'm not gonna go to play Boise State. So there's there's been some of that, and then one thing one more. You know, we saw that the Lakers one that didn't see the tournament. People are having fun with that, saying Michael Jordan never won one. So they said Lebron James is greater than Michael Jordan. Jordan. Sure, sure, I saw some of it, and they were
pretty good in the wholes. Yeah. Uh, but Bronnie did play. We talked about that while I was gonna bring that up. Ronnie James got in and played, and then they probably got beat by Long Beach by Long Beach State, Ucla lost it lost to Villanova. Over the weekend, we were talking with Gabe Gabriel. You know the Pack basketball again is looking to be not very good. Well, that's the whole thing outside of Arizona.
Arizona, Arizona, and we've seen this before. We've seen this dance, but with somebody else, Gonzaga, right, they go through their breach through their league. Uh, they they don't get tested very often. They started to play tougher teams. But so this is like Gonzaga two point zero for Arizona. They need to because the league is not gonna give him any any They're not gonna ge him any help both from a from a strict schedule arranged
exactly the strength of schedule health. So, oh, just came across Washington State quarterback cam Ward is going is expected to visit Miami. Huh, and he's thinking about also visiting Florida State. Well, i'd be good. They need a fourth string quarterback, yeah, yeah, so it's you know, hey, that Army Navy game. You just see it. That was fun. I didn't see it until those games. Men always come down to them.
And they had no chance with like two minutes left, I know they were up two touchdowns, the Armies up two touchdowns, are two minutes left, and Navy goes down the field like, don't with the feet up. I mean, they're just how did they get the ball back? Four out? Three? Three and out with about a minute? Well, yeah, three, Well it was three and well they did it on side kick. Oh, I got it and Army got it. Okay, Army got it,
got it three and out and they punted. Oh and it was in eleven yard punt, so they got the ball like the thirty five yards. How much time with just under two minutes left? Oh oh, so there was a quick one. It was a quick one. So they yeah, the Navy had timeouts, so they moved down. So they went down and got it to the one yard line, fourth down on the one with twelve seconds left, and they ran a sneak and didn't get in an Army one. And I covered a game. You will tell you what he's talking about.
He's horror about something, and then you do you do? You like getting pools and bet on games and things like that. Actually, I'm not very knowledgeable in sports. Well that makes two of us in this room, and you talk about himself, all right, but we're gonna we're gonna fix that or or e or jah. Okay exactly. But uh, I know that that came always a great game. And I told you I didn't you know, I didn't know what to do, and I didn't find five NFL
games I wanted to play, so I decided to take the game. I didn't really flip a coin. It's kind of like eenie meenie miney mode, which one do I take? And I just took Army because they'd won their last two games. They were both five and six. They were so even, they're both five three points spread. Yeah, it had it had all the makings of a push, and but I took Army and I hit it, and then I didn't hit another game until last night, which it just
sucks less. So Dallas, Dallas look good, but maybe they did or maybe not as good. Yeah, you know they've been they've been drilled two games in a row. My good teams, they played the Niners. I mean hard. It's hard to go back to back playing the Niners. In the cop right, they had the Niners at home, but they got rolled there and then they go to Dallas and they got rolled again. So when you're one of the favorites to be in the super Bowl, you should at
show up. I mean, it's still got three losses, so they're still you know, it's sill pretty good. But yeah, it's just been the Chiefs. So I'm still pissed about the Chiefs. You know, at home. I think the Ravens looked awful until they won on a cre right, and that was a game I thought they would kill and they didn't cover right, Steve, I don't understand. And I'm still doing pretty well in Draft Kings. They didn't have a good week this weekend. I lost everything that
I from. I would tell you love it, she loves you, check it out. I got to see that Draft Kings acount. You know what. I'm tracking my stuff because I want to know. I got to make myself feel better, so I want to know if I'm doing good. I want to know that I'm doing good, and I am. But man, it's just I can't and the thing. Here's the thing, though, I think one of the reasons is I'm not taking my poll picks, and I feel like you broke so I bet on other stuff. You get other stuff.
You'd be broken if you're taking your your pool picks. Yeah, yeah, okay, Hey, good show. Fun be surprised by Mo Tangara all in talk and talked about Humarballo. We made GILHARREDI awake, but we got him. He was good, and he was good talking about that to the major leagues. You know, I don't know about you, he said, when he was a little kid, he didn't think about playing in the Major League. I sure did. Everybody does everybody, especially when you're playing Now,
do you realistically think you're going? And I thought about it. You just don't know what it takes. I hit those phantom home runs and stuff like that. But you just don't want to take me because I think he's right. Well, I know he's right. Wouldn't you get up there? The difficulty in staying there is just that's hard. That's really hard. All right. The big, big, big show tomorrow, Terry Frankclona is gonna join us. We've been catching him at the Arizona basketball games. He was
We saw him at Duke. He was at he was there on Saturday. He's been around. We're gonna we'll talk to him about show him. Man, what does you think about all of that? But Terry frankcne will join us, followed by Mayan aji Uh the center for the women's basketball team. We'll get her on. So it should be a good fun show tomorrow, so be sure to come back. See you tomorrow
