Steve Vera and Jacme Solace. They have their I on the Ball on two Suns Sports station, Fox Sports fourteen fifteen, The Welcome Back to Win in the Marco Fox Sports fourteen Filkie. I'm Steve's Jake guy. Noah, can't I remember your name? Noah for Britain Jas I on the Ball breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty eight. Well we'll figure it out. No, Alright, someday, I mean, you know, you'll walk in here. It might be I might somebody. I'm gonna throw you guys off. I'm
just gonna start saying my name is Jason. I think I'm fun. I think or you're gonna answer to Jason. We're gonna go Jason. Yeah, I'm gonna tell Jason and tell you guys say his name. So, all right, what do you got? So? I think, most enjoyably and least surprisingly, the Cardinals get blown out and by the Chief. So in my opinion, like you can't really use the preseason that's indicator for how it
teams need to be, except for this team. So I like it's it's just you know, it's just like worms my you know, the way I actually pre preseason games is Usually they don't mean anything unless you get completely blown up by somebody. You just look in it and that's what they get it. Yeah, and in that sense, I think it does mean something. So there's there's a certain amount of boxes that need to be checked to actually take away a message from a preseason game, and they checked every single box,
which is a bad thing. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, just a few years ago they were halfway decent. They were sucking three years, not halfway decent. It was just two seasons and they started off seven. Yeah, and then then they fell apart. But they looked they only saw pieces of it. They looked really bad yesterday or not get it. They're not playing with Kyler Murray, you know. But Mcboy's gonna start the season is the is the Yeah, I'm not sure Murray wouldn't make any difference. It
was really bad, all right. And then Martinez J. Would you like to share this one? I would because kind of hits close to home. Danny. Danny Martin is a long time PA announcer at Arizona Softball. He was been in their sports information director for a lot of years, moved over to the marketing in department. A couple of years ago. Happens to be my godson. So I've known him for a while. Great, great kid worked well, I shouldn't call hm a kid anyways, in his mid thirties.
Anyways, today he was named mid thirties. No, he'll be thirty four. And really the reason I know that Danny Martinez was born on the morning of the game, remember the Pacific game where Hammersmid blew out his knee October eighty nine. And he was born at like two o'clock in the morning on that morning. I know that because we were sleeping on the couch at at TMC waiting for him to be born. My life nine. But anyways, Wildcat his entire life. Uh. He started working as an intern.
Uh he's been working there full time since he got out of school. He'll be I think he'll be a life for it at at McHale in a in a really good way. But now the director of Operations, which is basically an administrative right hand man to to Caitlyn Low just kind of runs all the administrative stuff, travel all those kinds of things. So he's got as got a job on the softball staff and Arizona and again a really really good guy,
hard worker, just got married last year. Yeah, so these guys aren't getting they are I mean, so you know what I got, and not be specifically because of this higher she's already hired a couple two or three people right in her new staff. Right, they're gonna be I think they're gonna be okay eventually. Yeah, you know, it's been a last year was a kind of struggle. But I think they're gonna get there. It's a hard transition from a leegend, right that pitching, if think get better
pitching. Yeah, that's all you got to do, Okay, Okay, sure, all right, all right? And then the preseason eight people the All Americans was released. Jacob Cowey may the second team, second team APE. I think I think it's I would say it's accurate. I don't don't think it's surprising. Well, there's just some guys in the PAC twelve. Who are is it the PAC twelve? Still? It is for this year? Right? Everything started school? Who are you know who are really good
singer on there? No? Probably I didn't check it. I didn't see that, but you know what it makes the Mikes, the the loss of him. Uh. We talked about this a little on Saturday, right and Jay where they lost singer. But but they're okay, yeah, they got guys. They still got guys. They got a bunch of guys, and I think no, one hundred percent believe that. You know, they're gonna they've got enough guys pretty at that position, looking you don't want to lose
a Dorian Singer. But you know, in Arizona's case, you know they got uh, you know, they got they got guys who can who can you know, fit right in And that's what they did. I'm looking at the U, I'm trying to get the first team here. I'm not seeing it. But you know, they just they just had the ability to recover from that one. Uh you know in uh, you know, they went and got the kid from Colorado who you know, is he is good to
the Ryan Singer? We don't know, but he certainly was pretty darn good, good enough that a lot of people wanted him when he when he jumped into the TRASF report. All right, and then Jonathan Taylor was given permission to seek a trade by the Colts after basically putting him under team arrest. That was strange, Like the whole the whole thing right, Well, I mean he's he's he's young, Like what is he twenty five? Yeah?
Yeah, and and and you know then they come, you know, he wanted he you know, he just wants to get an extension on his contract. They tell him you're not worth the crap because you're running back, We're not going to give it to you. And then he says, okay, then I can. Then I want to be traded, and they said, well, we're not gonna trade you either, and then like okay, so now they are they going to t he's twenty four, and it was it was two years ago when he was twenty two, he had you know,
one of the most like explosive seasons in receume. Besides like Derrick Henry was right, it was you know that was up there. If if like I don't understand what they would lose for trying to like not not trying to train
him, but they won't give him ex sension. So it's like all you do is you'd either like you don't have him upset and and just like want to you know, sit out, or you'd have him play with a terrorli attitude, which I could totally see that and look in these running backs are they're kind of they're in a bad spot, right they you know, they got a beverage, right, they got zero leverage. They got to get their money so that they can because they know that they're gonna be out of
the league in a few years. And you know, there's still worth something. I mean, you still need a Jonathan Taylor on your team. Like think of a think of a position where the more you produce, the less your value exactly. Like it's it's like it's just used against you. It's oh, you're now you're gonna be more beat up next season. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, yeah, this is what this Michigan self
imposes a three game band for Harbaugh. Yeah, that's interesting after saying they're gonna wait like for four you know the four, right, the four games that they were gonna get. Yeah, so and again you or I could coach Michigan in those first three games. He's gonna be sitting at home having a beer, hanging out, watching the game, relaxing, and then he'll come out and you know he'll coach, but you know, what are you
gonna do again? It was one of those situations where the they'll call it the misleading, I'll call it. The line was worse than the crime, right, I mean, he you know, they did some stuff they got caught. Instead of owning up to it, he tried to mislead the NC double A and they said that's not gonna fly. And now he's in trouble. I bet you they still give him the other game though, I bitually he gets one more, you know, to the NBA or whatever, it's
gonna give him the Yeah. Yeah, So did you see following the Women's World Cup there was like some some little cliff very thing they went viral where the Spain Spain's like football federation president or something kiss one of the players in the lifts like just after that, like just a picture. Yeah. I saw it. Red about it that he did it. I don't feel like, first of all, I don't know what their entire relationship is, but I people were upset about it, that's all you kind of really Yeah,
well, let me say this. I don't know why people were upset about it, because one, it doesn't involve them, although I'm Boddy's saying something wrong, but he did apologize yesterday or today that it happened because he was kind of caught up in the emotion of the whole thing right the end. I mean, I'm kind of like he was kissing his daughters. Yeah, just kind of like, you know, did happened and it just happened.
I don't know. People have every kind of complain about a lot of different things, and and maybe there's just for complaining about this, But there was no untowardly that's what he said. You know, there was nothing there. He was just excited that they just won. He wasn't like hitting on her. No, No, it's just you don't kind of excite. Yeah, you see it all the time. No, no, you don't see it all the time. But it's a celebration of what you don't see it.
A profit got people fired up, sure, sure, but you see celebrations and in in it just kind of things that happened. If there's a word, I can't remember what. I don't know why. I don't know why I'm thinking of this, but I am been promptu. I remember when Willie Twatma got here. And I don't know if you ever noticed, but like on uh, you know, senior day or and stuff like that. You know, when his when his parents were on the field, his dad would
give him a kiss on the lips. I never noticed, you know, because you know, you go up, you give him a heart or whatever, and even if it's your mom, you know, kiss on the jor whatever. But that it was kind of like that's what their family does. Sure, And there was nothing wrong with that. Sure, But he and you know, his dad would kiss him on the lips and you know, you know, like when he was being honored and that kind of stuff.
I thought that was really interesting to see. Or or at the end of a game, if his dad was on the field and go out, you know he will he would go because his dad, and that would gi him hugging and kiss on the lips. And I thought, some people that's how you do think. Sure well, I kind of joked about this sub I don't know over the weekends. And you know how old Mary people talk. They yell at each other, that's how they communicate. There's no nothing bad
about it. It's just how the communicant. It's just the way. It is. Something young young and then some people do it and they wind up single. Yes, yes, do you think we should keep in mind that, like obviously a big thing. It's it's the culture is completely different. Yeah, that's a great point, A great point one percent. I wouldn't. I wouldn't say, like obviously, you know it's normal, especially on that type of till I was just kissing on this. But it's like,
let's say he wasn't. You know, you caught up in emotions. You kind of what comes out is kind of the stuff you've kind of been that's like engraved in right, What are you sure by rays know? A great great point, great point. No learned something I did learn something I didn't. I mean honestly, I kind of just like thought of that. No, No, but it's it's great. Cultures have different ways of doing this,
all right. Going back to the preseason All America team, because I wanted to circle back to this because because if you recall, uh, what's his name? I don't know, Jacob Cowing. He was second team All pac twelve all right, preseason all right? He second team All America all right, the first team, first team All American receivers, three of them, two of them from a house state, Marvin Harrison Junior and a Mecca
Bucca and then uh Rome o'dunzi or o'dunze. I guess the kid from Washington was one of the first team All Pac twelve guys and then second team All America Xavier Worthy from Texas, Malik Neighbors from LSU, and Jacob Cowing from Arizona. So nobody else from the Pac twelve. So Jacob Cohen, basically corner of the AP, is one of the top two receivers in the league and he got second team All Pack twelve. From the guys here, but
as you might expect, Caleb Williams, the Guisman Trophy guy. First team quarterback Blake Quorum from Michigan, Quinshawn Judkins from Mississippi or the running backs. The second team quarterback was Drake May from North Carolina, Raheem Sanders from Arkansas, Braylon Allen from Wisconsin. Of the running backs, Uh, let's see, im trying to see, trying to see the Pac twelve guys that are
in there. Travis Hunter, kid from Colorado is the h is an all purpose player on the first team, which you know when you think about Colorado, they're not very good, but yet they have a preseason first Team All American on their team. Good for them. And Stanford's kicker Joshua Carty the first team All America. But you know, again, it's it's all, it's all relative, and it's all kind of okay. So what but USC's got some guys on the first team defense. What else do I see a
bunch of a bunch of a house steak guys. Well, you mentioned USC. The a d R was going to USC, right, Jen got con got named us? How is that? How was that fly going into I've got got it. I got a friend who uh, you know, went to Washington. I'm on a chat with him all the time and I said, is that a you know, good thing or bad thing? And he's like not sure. You know, you know, she hired Kaylin de Bore. It has been great. She also hired Mike Hopkins, which hasn't been
great. The feeling is that she, you know, with everything that happened, she got Washington into the Big ten, so if it was gonna all fall apart, they landed in a pretty good spot. So they're happy with that. So, you know, remains to be seen, but just kind of just one of those things where Okay, so she's gone to USC and
we'll find somebody else, right right, No, congrats with her. I'm staying in the conference, which is kind of a little controversial where you moved from one program sort of but not but you know, but you know you're gonna be gone next to It's like when I've and good Kim here from Washington State. Uh, it's like a jockeyn. This is a bad analogy. So I apologize, who's run on two horses one on one and one with that one, but jump to a better horse because he knows that this is
a better order, right, Yeah? Does that make sense? Yeah, no, it doesn make sense. So I mean, either way, she's in the big ten, right, and she's on the team that caused all of this, so you know, so that's yeah, I mean you just go with it. All right, Let's take our second, our last, no last break, one more break. Excuse me. We've got Justin Spears coming up. We'll go through Arizona fall camp with him and get some of his perceptions of all of that and see what's got to say. So we'll
stick around for that. Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez they have their eye on the ball on two Palms Sports Stage yet Fox Sports fourteen fifty Streamy Live. I mean I heard radio warm. Hey, welcome back to WI on the Ball. Here
a Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve Rivera, He's Jaken zos Now on the phone. We have Justin Spears from the Arizona d Start and some of the radio shows. Somebody yeah, yeah, hey, you know, hey, justin. I just want to I wanted to get this out because it's kind of a disclaimer. Okay, I don't you saw that. You know, I made some brownies for Jason, you know, because we talked about that on the shows his last day that we didn't do anything for him,
and he said he love brownies. I made him some brownies and I brought him to the scrimmage, thinking, you know, he'll pass them around. Boy, he hoarded those things. I mean he protected them to the end. I mean he still had them under his arm and nobody was touching his brownies. I thought, you know, you'd get one, I'd get one, Steve would get one. You just you just ate him up, man, I mean to be honest. So you that's a veteran move right there,
because he knows that, you know what. You know, Eventually, I'm gonna you know, it's gonna give It's gonna be a late night. I'm gonna be you know, getting a sweet took, getting those cravings. You know, I want to be able to make sure I have as many brownies as possible. So I get it, man, Jason, I get it, bro, And you're spot on. You know why too. He's a student exactly. You imation everything. He was clutching those things tight all the way to the very end. So so you're still kind of in the
groove of being the beat guy. What do you see? Uh? So far, I see a lot of size up front on both the offense and the defensive line. But as we all know, one of the biggest storylines of training camp is the number of new bodies that they have on defense, specifically the front six right, because you know, I mean, typically it's the front seven defenders, right, but Johnny Nansen utilizes a four two five
defense. In this case, we're gonna use front six defenders. And I was actually looking at the updated weight in Arizona's roster right now, and I added up all the weights of the new defensive linemen through the trans reportals, and just from five guys, we're talking about one thousand, four hundred and twenty something pounds. I don't know what the exact number is, but it comes out to I believe two hundred and ninety seven pounds per players. So
I think that's one thousand, four hundred and twenty five. So think about that two hundred ninety seven average bringing in and these guys are shuttling in and out, and John and Anson said after the scrimmage on Saturday that he wants to use anywhere from eight to nine defensive linemen in the game because on average, you're playing about eighty five to ninety snaps on defense, so you want to make sure that you have as many fresh legs and big bodies in there
as possible. And they're doing that. I mean every five or six plays, we're talking about you know, four man platoons and these guys just coming in and out of the game. Now, how is that going to work? You know, on week to week basis, depending on the opponent you have. I mean, hey, some offenses play at a faster tempo, so are you going to have time to you know, get guys in and now that's going to be something that you know, we should definitely look forward
to. But you know the amount of size that they have a front, And also, I think the secondary has really been the most improved group out of anyone in training camp because you know, we all knew about uh Ephesians, Price Sock and Takario Davis. You know, those guys are expected to be Arizona's two starting corners. But then you have these other two guys coming in and jay Avian Celestine, this you know, kind of young guy out
of Miami and they putting him out there. And I've seen him make plays defending Jacob Cowing in the slot and also being on the outside on T Mac and T Max got about six inches on him. So it doesn't matter what body type you put this guy on. Celestine is going to cover. And then another guy who's really immerged in training camp. And to be honest with you, guys, I actually think he might start against any of you here coming up. And that's doing whyat this sixth year guy who last played at
cal Poly. Johnny and Anson said, this guy's like a like a sponge of information. He's like almost like a coach out there. You tell him one thing and he's not a rep guy. He just goes out there and just does it. And he's really ascended in camp last week, had a couple of picks during the team period and then and then he got the start in the scrimmage. Does that mean he's gonna start against any of you will find out. But the fact that you have these guys ascending and now we
have cornerback controversy, which I didn't think was a thing. And then you have all these safeties that are competing for those two spots at free safety and strong safety, so many bodies that you can utilize and Arizona, I mean, they might use Genesis Smith, true freshman who's the biggest out of all them, or they can rely on the guys you know that they have coming
back, like a Gunner Maldonado and Isaiah Taylor. But you know, last year Arizona used a Dollar Package defense, which is very defensive back heavy, and I think no matter who gets the start at safeties at both those spots, I don't think they're going to hurt anyone's feelings because I really feel like all the dvs that they have right now, all those guys are getting the reps, and at safety they're going to be getting a significant amount of playing
time because Johnny Nansen is going to be using that Dollar package, which was very useful last year, and I think it will be the case this year. You know, one of the things that Steve and I were talking about a little bit ago is that, well they've gotten bigger. Have they caught up? Right? Because they were really undersized for a couple of years and have been for a while and have been historically. But are have they caught up sizewise to the PAC twelve or are they still are? They still got
a ways to go. I think they're taught up to other teams in the PAC twelve. But you know those other teams of PAC twelve, they've been added for so many years. They know exactly what they're good at and what their blueprint should be. Utah, they have so much depths on both sides of the ball up front, and year in and year out, those guys are always going to have just big bodies. I mean USC that just kind of comes to the territory because they're in southern California and they're the big school.
So you know, getting three hundred pounders isn't really a big deal to USC and Stanford, even though we all know that they're going to be the dormat of the Pack twelve year in and year out. You know, that's that's the team that always has the still get good guys on both offensive defensive line. But I think Arizona has taught up now. Good news is they
have some versatility. Like I said, you know they if they get into a situation where you know they're playing up against a really good run team, they can use all those big bodies to plug in and play the gaps and and be the day Bears. As Johnny Nanson calls, he wants the defensive tackles to be dancing bears. He wants them to be big, but also light on their feet and make plays. If they get into a situation where they're playing against the smouse Mouth running team, they can use those big bodies.
But if they get into kind of a shootout passing contest, that's when that dollar package is going to come into play. And I think you know just teams right off the bat, but I think you know where that dollar packs to be very useful against is Washington and USC. But then one thing about USC is that they also have good running backs that just seem to come
out of nowhere every time they play against Arizona. So the Wildcats need to be on their p's and hues and they play against the Trojan and no doubt, So call me surprise, not surprise. What do you think about the linebacker spots. I think you may have asked the question Saturday, but justin Floe is battling that with I don't even know how to pronounce the next guy. But are you are you surprised by that? Justin Floe is kind of
that guy you think you can play and do very well. But your thoughts, Yeah, I think that it's not what I expected, to be honest with you, because in spring they decided to kind of toy around with the lineups and they bring in this Daniel high Moolley guy who's a transfer from Washington. Now, mind you, when he was in high school, he was also a highly rated recruit. He was a four star guy. He wasn't like Justin Flow all American number one rated inside linebacker type of hype, but
he was still a very highly recruited guy. Things didn't work out in Washington.
He kind of got into a little off the field scuffle at at a nearby bar in Washington, and things just didn't work out with the Huskies, and so he goes into the trans reportal and in Arizona brings him in and I thought, okay, well, Justin Flows the guy next to Jacob Bonnet, that's how it's going to be. And then the second week of spring ball, all of a sudden, you see Daniel High Moolley started and getting a lot of love, and Justin Floe kind of got out the rotation a
little bit. We all started to wonder, oh man, what's going on with Justin Flow. He's already, you know, two weeks into this and he's already out of the starting lineup, Like is he really that big of a bus? And then Justin Floe came in kind of late spring and really started to make plays and was making plays in the spring game too, and
got back into that rotation. So I figured, you know, it was Johnny Nthon just saying, all right, we have this great linebacker, this guy who is amazing, but maybe we don't need to dial it back a little bit, and allowed him to take those mental reps. But then once he got back in the rotation, I'm like, okay, things are settled. Justin flows back in the mix. And then training camp starts. You got Justin Flow out there with Jakomanus looking like, okay, everything's going according
to plan. And then this Daniel High movie guy just comes out of nowhere. And he's been so consistent all practice. We've seen him consistently get in the backfield and get TFLs put pressure on the quarterback when need and I think that this guy is the real do And honestly, this is a good problem for Arizona. You know, if you have this player the caliber of Justin Floe and we're questioning if if he should start or not, that is a
really good problem for Arizona. So I really don't know who's going to start, Johnny Manson says the middle linebacker spots neck and neck. I honestly, I could not tell you. But I think maybe if I were just to be a betting man and just take a guess that, I think Justin Flow will start against any you and maybe they'll kind of allow him to maybe lose the job a little bit, because I feel like Justin Flow has a lot
more to lose than a guy like Daniel him Mooley at this point. Yeah, no, and you know, and that and that's the thing we've been talking about, not so much that how much better their guys are, although you know, everybody gets better or allegedly gets better, you know, you're as as you grow along, but that there's more guys who are better. As as you said, in this situation, they got two guys who they're going to be comfortable with playing. You know, I think the same thing
at quarterback. We're talking a little bit to go about you know, we were talking about North Fafied and I'm like, what do you think about North Feed? And I said, I'm comfortable if that guy has to play. And you know, if if Delora gets hurt and then you got you think that you think of the four running backs that they got that they're going to roll out there, you'd be happy with any one of those guys as a
starter. So I think that I think that seems to me to be the huge difference in year three, that it's not just that they're better, but that there's more of them. Yes, and and that's a great problem to have of your program. Now you have depth. And it's crazy to think that we're talking about this when just two years ago, guys we were asking, man, does Arizona have any depth? Whatsoever? Can mean? Can
they win one game in the Pac twelve? We all know that they're going to be able to get by any you and then come to find out that they didn't get by any We were wondering if we were wondering if there is even a quarterback on campus. Yes, I mean, and not only did lose any but they lost an EU which was down to their third string quarterback. It was a true freshman. It was just it was just all bad
for Arizona that season, in that particular night. But you know, we were asking ourselves, then, holy crap, Kevin, someone gutted the program so much. Will Jet fish, even if he puts together the great efforts, will he be able to kind of restore the roster and add stuff in the cupboards And in just two years, Jet and his staff have been able to do that, right, Yeah, no question. I started today's show with kind of the story I wrote over the weekend. I'm not sure if
we've asked you how how many wins you think to having him? But but I think it's not going to be the offense. It's going to be how good the defense is that they'll determine that. Well. That was also the case last year, right because Arizona's offense put up thirty one point per game. They had the sixth best passing offense in college football. I mean, they had probably had the biggest differential in splash plays from the twenty twenty one
season. The twenty twenty two, Like it was all good offensively for Arizona, but defensively, I mean the Wildcats got worn down by Mississippi State. Yeah, I know that wasn't Jadon Dolor's best game and threw a few picks, but I think Mississippi State, in their experience, I think eventually just wore down Arizona late in that game. I mean, you saw Utah. They were just completely on the whole another level that game last season. So I mean, but outside of that, you know, there were you know,
games that were Arizona. I mean, they were right there and if they had just stopped a run or put together a better defensive game plan, then they probably would have won. You know that That col game is the one that always sticks out to me because if they if Arizona had just stopped the run and got off the fields and helped out their offense, and Arizona
would have won that game. And Arizona is winning six games and go to a bowl game, which is a pretty miraculous turnaround considering they went one to eleven the season prior. But I don't think Arizona fans are complaining, Yes, there could have been you know a lot of things that went differently last year, a lot of what if moments that maybe could have had a better
season for Arizona. But you ask any Arizona football fan, they'll tell you they will take last season every day of the weekend twice on Sunday because they beat Arizona State and they weren't the laughing stock of the Pac twelve. And if you're not going to make a bowl game, as long as you win that last game, you're okay in Arizona fans eyes all right? Justin? How many wins trying to get me in trouble? Are am? We won't ask you which one, just how many? So I will say that their
floor is six wins? Wow, that's the what are you see? It's one of those like you know, parking structures where where you're walking kind of like that you're not you're not at the league court. It's already flooded a day. So I'm gonna go the floor. It's six wins ceiling, eight wins? Wow? What makes you say that? Justin? Because the Pack twelve is so wacky this year that anything can happen, like no joke.
I seriously think the Pac twelve is going to be so upside down. This year, it's gonna be the type of season where USC is undefeated and they're gonna lose the Arizona at home at the Coliseum. Like, I think it's going to be that kind of wild this year. It's the last year, it's the last dance of the conference, a lot of really good teams from
top to bottom. Anyone can be beat on any given day. So that's why that's why I'm saying six day wins just because I think Arizona is gonna win maybe a game or two that they shouldn't, but they also might drop a game that they also shouldn't with the league, With the league the way it is, you know, people are talking about that this is their best chance to get into the playoff. But I mean somebody's got to run the table or come close to running the table. And you know, as you
say weekend a week out, it's gonna be hard. You think Arizona can beat USC, but you know they can lose to Colorado. I mean, yeah, are they going to cannibalize themselves? What do you see? Yeah? I think it's going to be another one of those years where we're just gonna be like, man, the Pac twelve is so good, but you know, the best team has you know, two different losses, and it's going to be kind of on the outside looking in when it comes to just
be a p picture. Unfortunately that's the case. But you know, if I'm you know, choosing a dark horse team to you know, maybe put put together a run in the Pac twelve. The Organ State I love, I love what Jonathan Smith is doing. They have a quarterback now and dju they run the hell out of the football. They played good defense. Jim Halcheck, former Arizon offensive line coach, in my opinion, is one of the best assistants in the country. So you look out for those Organ State
Beavers up there in Corvallace. In a year where the pack swave is gonna get whacky, it would be so on brand for Organ State. The school is getting left behind in all this, well, that would be a story given the finger to everybody. Hey, you know what, as I see your six s eight and you gotta go. But your six is kind of like a smart, smart, little clever thing because because they could very easily would say we talked about this right, six wins, Okay, that's good,
but the sea but the bottom. That's a good, nice little little throw there. I like your little number. I like your little number. You're throwing the dark right where you need to throw the dark exactly exactly what You're a stage, nice forty year old talk right there. Thanks, Thanks, justin. Thanks, we'll see you around. Thank you guys any time. No, I think so, because you know to me you're gonna say four, I'm gonna say four as a as a floor. Four. I
think the floor is five, okay, floors four? Okay, four, five, four, five, six, you know five, six, Okay, it's not a bad. We looked at each other, like what, but you know it's probably right. Yeah, get six, man, just get six. Just get the six and get into a ball game. Okay, that'll be good enough for me. Okay, that'll be good enough for me after what we went there. All right, let's take our break. We're gonna come back last break, and we'll take it. Calls five to

They look at you, say Noah. Noah was justin, I'm not sure what to make of your cap? No, you got it, you know, I'm a I'm a I don't like. I don't like the you know, variation of the Dodger cap. It's the it's the All Star game edition, the All Star game edition. Yeah, all Star game. The Dodgers on the team wear that cap with the yellow logo and the gray lit the great thing, and then the game. I don't think they did. I don't think I wouldn't noticed. Maybe, but I mean I get it.
It's a it's an All Star game cap. And then it's like Rams colors too, so it's sick what Rams colors? You know, yell and blue. That's why they didn't win the World Series left that's bought that for that. For the Dodger fans out there, it's it's the blue cap. It's got the Dodger lo. The LA logo on the cap is yellow and then the bill is gray. I'm not sure what to make of that.
It's like, I don't even like, you know, their their City Connect uniforms, so they got the blue lid with the black bill on the cap. I'm like, I just feel like the Dodger cap like the Yankee cap is pure. It can't be. You can't do something different with it. That sucks. It's a good answer, it's a good answer. All right. We'll just leave it at that. If anybody wants to call we hell about nine minutes we went over with Justin is a good time? Five two

That's what we're gonna do. Right Wait, you know where where our Friday Football pick, Our fab five Friday picks are gonna kick in, not this Friday, but the following Friday. We should change the NATO not so fab the f never mind of five never mind anyways, but we're gonna start those picks
a week from Friday with the first big weekend of college football. We know there's some games this weekend, uh, there's a handful of games, but the first big weekend of games uh is the following week. So we'll post those on on on our social media. Just remind everybody, I did beat Steve last year in the season long contest, So he has to pay my entry into the football pool that we're in together. So I got that going for me. I don't know what. We haven't decided what the wager is
for this year. We're going to just do that again. All right, we'll do that again. It will never happen again for the for those of you who don't know, it's worth sixty bucks. So Steve's got to pay my entry. Well, yeah, until I won the first year, you did, you did, and you killed me the first year, and then we tied, tied, right, and then we tied the second year. So I was terrible that first year. I was very good. What are you talking about? Oh yeah, well you want you want to finished second
in the pools? But anyway to another five ten years. Yeah, But on Friday, on Friday, Steve and I are going to go through our over unders on all of the PAC twelve teams over under wine. When when when Justin talked about the league being what it is, uptopsy turvy blah blah blah, I don't know, I don't know. I think the teams it's going to be the same. Well, it's always like this, Steve,
you know, it's always like that. Where Yeah, USC may be the best team in the league, but they can get beat by a lot of sure. Sure, and they basically do because that's what's crushed through UH in the past. I mean, really, how many teams in the SEC can beat Georgia two? Maybe? Yeah, maybe maybe two? You know, same thing with Alabama, you know, and Alabama is one of the two, right and Alabama on the other side, maybe two, maybe LSU,
you know, but nobody else is beating those guys. Arizona can beat USC, you know, Uh, Oregon State really can beat USC. I mean, there's a bunch of teams that can beat the top of the you know, the top of the league. And that's been always that's always seemed to have been the case in what pack by saying that? And I think I saw something earlier today about wins and losses, and I think maybe it was on my post. I can't remember. Give me the win percentage against USC,
the wincent it's low. Yeah, well that's why I ask it's low. But but they've beaten them at times when you least expect. I'm asking for percent, your honor, I want to answer, look it up. No, no, no, no, give me a win percent I think it is. I bet you it's about I bet you it's under thirty. Yeah, okay, that's fair. Yeah, that's fair. I mean there was a time. I mean, I think it's Arizona beat him for the first time in nineteen eighty one, and that when they were number one.
Even over the years since then, they played them used it has won most of those games. Yeah, yeah, no, but they've played them tough. I'll give you that. Because you think they're never gonna beat him in the place, play close, They close, and they beat him in Arizona beat him in ninety three. I don't think they even played him in ninety eight. They beat him in ninety because I remember they beat both USC and UCLA on the road in ninety Uh. You know, There's been a few
other times, but it's been you know, not that many. Okay, So there's that no Washington because people I think I think I think that's also very lopsided as well. That's gonna be about thirty five percent. I'm gonna put that over thirty because Washington went through a tough, a tough stretch you know, about four or five years there that I think Arizona handled him pretty well. So about forty percent. I have a chance to be. No, I don't think. I don't think it's forty three percent. I'm gonna
say, I'm gonna say mid thirty. Okay, and then here and here you go with Oregon, a team that they that they used to be it all the time, but more you know, let's let's you know recently, is that like a fifty I bet you Arizona is in the forties. I'm looking I'm I'm calling it the media guy right now, so I can look this out because I think that. But I'm talking about the chances of winning this year, winning this year, or the chance of winning this year.
I think Arizona has got about a twenty five percent chance to beat USC Okay, yeah, I think that's right. Yeah, probably about a thirty five percent chance to be I'm gonna put that at forty because that game is gonna be here, okay, Okay. I think I think if Washington comes in without their guard up, okay, and it's early in the season, so they they'll have their guard up, but they're Washington. They're the team that you thought right would win the league. But I think coming here is gonna
be hard, and I think Arizona can beat them. I don't. I'm gonna put that about forty What game is that it's it's it's the fifth game of the year, fifth game of the year. So you're assuming that there's gonna be a crowd, there's gonna be some five Arizona will be at a minum three and one. Okay, okay, okay, there should be so, but you're assuming that this is gonna be a home court, home field advantage. Yeah. When was the last time that happened? I don't know,
but you understand my point, right, right? So I think that I believe that, uh, you know, Washington maybe a forty percent chance of winning that game. Okay, No, they don't play Oregon, right, which is great for them, and then they go to Washington State. Okays, State came down here beat the Dolora pretty soundly. A Dolora had there's probably worst game of his career. That's fifty fifty games. Really, even though the game's up there, would you are you a little biased?
A little biased? I think Arizona is better than Washington State, Okay, okay, I just think Arizona is better than Washington State. I just think that it's gonna be tough for them to go up there and win. It's hard to win. And Washington right and always been, yeah, always husband. Okay, I mean that's just I mean, that's just so give me the fifty fifty games UCLA fifty fifty game again. That game's here, Okay. I think Oregon State is like at I'm gonna say that's that's close.
That's close because it's here. Oregon. Oregon right now is respected as a top twenty teen. They are. They are. I think I'm never gonna persuade you the other way, but but I think that I think you're not you're not giving the other team enough enough whatever. I don't because it's gonna be a good league. They're They're good for a reasons. And I'm not dismissing Arizona because they're gonna better know that. We know that it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be tough. No, it's gonna be a hard league.
Wait, you know, weekend and week out. I mean, look, I think Arizona by that time, by the time they play them, I could see Arizona going up and lives in Colorado right when I think Colorado is probably only gonna win three or four games, but you gotta go up there and you gotta play. So okay, here's the here's just for the record purposes. Arizona is eleven twenty five and one against Washington. They are seventeen eighteen, twenty seven and two against UCLA. They're eight and thirty eight
against USC. You know, but you know, again, there's eight of them, and you just never know when they can jump up and bite. I'm having beat at USC is twenty twelve, so that that'll tell you that. But they play they play him tough all the time. I mean, remember that game last year that was a hard game for you. It was that n LA that was a hard game for USC to win. Arizona was in it to the very end. Yeah, you know. Yeah, So I just think that, you know, there's a lot of games in there
that we're gonna walk into the state. I mean, you think you know what's gonna happen, but you don't know what's gonna happen. And there's gonna be a whole bunch of those. Yeah, a whole bunch of those. Okay, Okay, we'll see and I look forward to that tomorrow. We should have a nice show the rest of the week. It's kind of season for us now right, and we're in season, so we hope to get some great guests some time to guests actually talking football. Yeah, games and
you get players and you get happy and giddy. Let's see if you can get more accurate. I should talk. You're paid from anthy I beat your butt last year. I should. It came down to the last game, though, it was it was it was all right, let's get the heck out of here. We're gonna come back. We'll see you tomorrow. Be sure follow the podcast, catch us uh whenever you can, and we'll be back tomorrow and give us a call. Five two zero four one six seventy four forty see you tomorrow.
