Okay, we're back. Okay, welcome back to I think we're back. Welcome back to Why on the Ball. Here we are at Showtime Cards. I'm Steve, He's Jay, and you got the guys giving us the breaking news. All right, we're gonna start off with some Arizona football. So, according to PFF, Jonah Coleman is the highest graded Power five running back right now, and I think that this has true for the season. Yep, on the season as great as at ninety wow. Okay, yeah,

so that what does that take? I don't even know what that takes all into account? Is it just everything that he does or what? Yeah, it takes into account basically the overall grade of running back. Whether that's I think for him, his biggest attributes have been obviously his his rushing ability. He's had a ton of rushing over the past few games, and he's also

been a red zone guy, end zone guy. He's been. I feel like Arizona has struggle to get in the end zone at times when they get down there, and I think he's helped the time with getting in and he's kind of like a bulling ball in away. Yeah yeah, all right, Well good for him. Yeah, so on Saturday, he's definitely gonna need to keep that up help Fafieda out. And if we can get established the run game against the physical Oregan State team, I think that's gonna help us

tremendously. All Right, this is for you, for you guys, some betting stuff here, so Ohio State, in their last six trips to Wisconsin, it's resulted in either a loss or a one score game, and in the last two visits to Wisconsin, the game has ended overtime. So I guess just keep that in mind if you guys are touching that game. I thought about it, but they're they're bad for me. They've always I can

never get their games right. But they're they're giving like nine I think, yeah, yeah, And I think their at was you said they're at Wisconsin, right, Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that's it. I think I came first. Let's see it's later in the day. Yeah, No, fourteen and a half, Steve, I think you should take that hook. I think you should take. I already made my picture, all right, I ain't changing them. Okay, all right, moving into some NFL stuff.

Rock pretty practice once again. Today. It looks like he's trending now. To possibly clearing it the concussion protocol and being back on on Sunday. They definitely need to bounce back when losing three in a row is is tough for them, and and the Bengals are coming off rested, so I think that's gonna be a tough game for them once again. Yeah cool, but that's okay, that's an afternoon game. Yeah, but they they played Monday. Did they play Monday night? Yeah? They played Monday night. That's

they got beat by my Minnesota. Okay, all right, yep. And then for other injuries, Justin Fields and Ryan Tannehill have been ruled out on Sunday. We'll see the Bears were able to win last week with their backup quarterback. I know the Titans might throw in Will Levis, we won't get a look at him. But yeah, for right now, those two, those two guys are out and I probably would not touch their games at this point. Over on our side, you're hearing a little staticky, are you

you're hearing it Sunday? Okay? Over there on your side yourself, okay through those headphones, Yeah, yeah, we sound good and here's all right, Yeah, they're just well, we can hear you but it's staticky. Okay, could be the headphones too, Are they staticky for you? Yeah? Yeah, okay, go ahead. Moving into the NBA. So NBA is investigating if Hard and violated the participation policy. So they're looking into that right now. Obviously there was the incident because you just stopped. You just

wouldn't show up for practice and stuff. Yeah, and the game they had was it last night? I believe, Yeah, he didn't you show up for the game last night. By NBA rules, the team has to provide a medical or otherwise reason as to why he's not there, and so they were like, well, he's not here for personal matters what he's been telling us. Yeah, so it seems like James Harden does not because they didn't

let him travel with the team. He showed up bags packed, and they said sorry, like we don't, we want you to go home, ramp up, you come back when you're ready to play. Once again, I don't know why you didn't have that guy on your team. I just don't. But they played well without him. They had Milwaukee on the brink and Milwaukee had Lillard who had come through the same Yeah, you know, and then he's making with thirty six million dollars or something like that. Give him

the hell out of here. I don't get you know, we talk about this all at times. You're making tons of money, millions and millions. Why do you have to be appoint the problem? Yeah? What do you have to do? Yeah? Why is this hard? Yeah? It makes no sense to me. And that's at every every level, right, every level. You died, you die, and you should, you can, you want to be part of this, and then you get there and then you're making this ton of money and then he became a problem. How does

this? I don't get it that it makes It makes zero sense to me. All right, moving into uh, the World Series stuff. So the trio of Dbacks relievers Ryan Thompson, Kevin Ginkle and Paul SeaWorld combined for a point nine to eight e RA and twenty seven and two third innings. So I think that going into this World Series that's gonna be a key for them. They they can keep this up. This This has been a run for their relievers that I haven't seen in a while. In the postseason bullpen this

strong. Well you know again that that's what you know. They're one of the reasons they are where they are, you know. I mean that Ginkle was just awesome the other night. He had two winnings in that in that Game seven, and he was just he's been he's been money for them for for a while now. So yeah, I mean, you know, but look, both of these teams have pretty much put it all together to get there. Pitching, hitting, defense, it's a whole bit. So they're

there because they've been playing the best all the way around. So you know, I don't think any one piece of it is key. It's all. It's all gotta work. Yep, for sure. That's all the news I have. Kevint, you got anything. I want to talk a little bit about the diamond something. Go ahead, go ahead? Who's go ahead? Go ahead? Go I was gonna say the Diamondbacks have a huge advantage with

the speed in this series. Me and Sid we're talking between the break about the Diamondbacks have stole one hundred and sixty six bases at almost a ninety percent clip success rate, while the Rangers only have seventy nine steals, so more than way more than double what the Rangers are capable of on the base pass. And I think that could also be a Big Series with Jonah hide behind

the plate. So all right, well we're gonna we're gonna talk to Vick here for a second, because I heard your second goal saying you're rooting for the giant coller Vic, who's a good friend of ours. Here at the here at the showtime cards fifty eight to one e Speedway. You're sure you're just wing for the Diamondbacks because they're Arizona, right. I am West Coast National League, Yeah, West Coast National League. And obviously Ginko Paris Chica's

daughter plays for the softball team. Okay, all right, have a connection, you have a connections and I'm a National League guy. Yeah, I'm too. That's why I was tuns Stem. I'm a National League guy. I mean, pistol what the Diamondbacks did to the Dodgers, but I am rooting for him. I still can't sleep at night. I wake up at three in the morning in the colt sweat. I'm not that bad. So you're sleeping like a baby, trying every three hours going to the bathroom.

He's aging the diaper. But but I'm a Nashleague guy too, I'm I'm look, I'm not gonna be bothered by either team winning the World Series. The Rangers that never won one. You know, they came out and did what basically what the Diamondbacks did on the American League side. You know, I'm happy for either team. It's like, what the year the Cubs and the White and the Indians both played in the World Series. They played against each other in the World Series. So somebody who's been dying to win a

World Series for a thousand years was going to win one. So I wasn't heartbroken with either team. And I and I think it's kind of cool that two teams that haven't been there or there, And then I kind of disagree. I don't want to argue with Howard, but everybody does. But people in the Midwest, Grandma is going to watch this because they've never seen these

things. And we've seen Houston in l A. And we've seen Houston and and them a year after year, and it's like, okay, so these are new guys and and and people are going to get the chance to see Corbyn Carroll do his thing, and and uh and Corey Seeger do his thing. So that those are cool things. And as a sports fan, in my book, even though it's not my team. I'm tuning in. It's a world series. Yeah, you know, to your point, I think

that was a sub graphics. This is the first time in seven years Houston or the Daughters have not been have not have not been in the series, which is great for people like you were just saying people who have never watched it, Well, we're sick of Houston. Yeah, some people are the Dodgers. Well, and it was you know, and before that it was the Yankees. They were in it every year, and we got sick of the Yankees. You know. I mean, just as a Dodger fan,

I was always cheering against the Yankees. But even if I was a Dodger fan, I've been cheering against the Yankees. You were just sick of seeing them bick. You're here, you a place tomorrow, You got your you a gear? Y' all geared up? Man, I'm ready. It's a degrees. Are you get the sweets on? What's up? All right? What's the hat size? It's as big as you can get? Eight and

what eight in the quarter? I'm like a seven and five eight. That's well, I'm I'm seven and five eight, seven and seven eighths too. Okay, okay, so what do you think this weekend? I'm gonna go Arizona. I just have that that gut check feeling that that Noah will come out do his thing. I do see them stopping the run. The defensive line has just been on fire. And uh, I think that thing that Jed did with a with a you know, getting them rests and he were

playing seven eight three men, it's working. Yeah. I've never seen that work well because the Arizone has never been able to do that. They've never had that many guys you know who are and they're all good. Yeah, I mean Norton and then the Samoan dudes are are all fantastic and and doing their job. And shoot, I know you going back in time the three men rush, you're like, and the guy sat back there for ten seconds, right, And now that three men rush actually puts pressure. Yeah.

No, they made they made it hard on both on Caleb Williams and Cam Wharton. Not so much Michael Pannix because they just kept throwing those you know, the dink passes, so they weren't getting to him, but they got to you. They got to Kim Kim uh uh Warden. They got to Uh Caleb Williams. And at the time Caleb hadn't been pressured even he could run and the duke and move and they got to him. I was shocked. Yeah, what what's it? What's the score? Gun? I'm taking

I'm gonna go thirty five twenty four? Whoa, Well that's that's a big number there. Yeah, I think that they can get to DJ. And Uh. I've seen DJ. I'm like you, Jay, I've seen DJ since high school, followed his career and god, I better shut up. But he he's never impressed me, not even in the Bosco days. Well you know, I mean, if you remember, he came in that one game that Trevor Lawrence was hurt against stort of Dame, played a great game, and all of a sudden, man, he's the guy and that was

the best he ever did. And then all of a sudden he winds up. He's a he's you know, he's not even starting anymore. He winds up at the at Oregon State. Yeah, okay, we gotta go, we gotta go. Okay, I just came. I came by for the green Chili. Is that you're next door? You're on your own next door all right, let's go and take our breakaway to come back, and we're

gonna get take fisher on. So stick around. Shortime cards, good time cards, fifty eight to one E speedway. That's where we're at right now. Still be here for about another thirty five minutes, Yeah, thirty minutes. I'm Steve, your Jay. We got Jake Fisher on the line, Jake Hawai Friday. Guys, how's it going. We're good. Good, We're waiting.

But tomorrow's game from your eyes because you have better perspective than we do in this. How big of a game is this for Arizona? Well, I think it's a huge game. You know, last week we found out that we can be the top twenty caliber games. Controlled the game pretty much the entire way, especially after that first drive that they had. We played tough

defense. You know, we got a couple big stops with just three men down on the line of scrimmage, played a little over and under there, played obviously, you know, good in the defensive backfield, and I think that our offense, you know, basically control the tempo the entire game. So we're gonna have to do the exact same thing here with these guys, because from what I hear, they have a really good running game, a

really good offensive line. Obviously coach paulcheck is awesome, and uh, you know, it's just going to be a battle of who's going to win in the trenches. So, Jake, we're headed into the really the fourth game of sort of some you know, I don't want to call it a quarterback controversy, but just you know, questions about you know, what do you do at quarterback from a player perspective, what do the players care about in terms of who's going to be the quarterback? What? What? What matters

most of them? Well, I would tell you from my perspective, what matters the most is the guy that doesn't make costly mistakes and costly times of the game. You know. I mean, like I said, the game that were lost in Assi the state, you cut those turnovers just in half. We win that game by up a touchdowns. So you know, if the offense is rolling and if he continue to shoot yourself on the foot like

that. Then obviously some people are going to get some feelings. They're going to be a little upset, and they're going to wonder why the heck he went back to the other quarterback. If we just stay with No One, if he continues to manage the game, you know, you see that we can obviously beat good teams without him throwing a touchdown pass. I mean, you know, he threw obviously three of them against that seat we were in

that game, and then he didn't grow one this past week. He managed the game, and we have a good enough offensive line, and we have a good enough running back, you know, stable running backs that we don't necessarily need to However, when he needed to get those first downs, you know, he was able to get it to Team AC a couple of times in Cowing. Then the other good thing is he didn't take in major sacks or you know, he didn't try to push it too much until fix.

So obviously he assumed that he can win and he can cut the turnovers out. Yeah. No, he does a great job of game management. At least that's my turn for it. Real quick. Quinn, the guy who does the helps out in the pregame at the twelve ninety show. You probably know who is Quinn left Naimes Quinn, he said Mond, who is obviously done very well, but he compared him to you that he's done very well. And at that spot, how do you think he would have done in

this defense? I think I would have had fun. They got some big boys up front. As a linebacker, that's really all you want. Eat up the bucks and let me go get the ball. I think, obviously his sophomore year, I think he's he's better than I was as a sophomore. I obviously don't like saying that, but it's okay. I'm willing to give people credit when they're really, really good. And I think this. I think him just because he's a smart ball player. You know, he

only had one Major Division one A team. Give him a chance, and he's eating it up right now. He's playing his tail off, he's leading us and tackles, and you know, I think having him for another couple of years is going to be and it's going to make, you know, the defense more comfortable. I also like the fact that Flow is going to be playing against the team this week that likes to run the ball. Now we can kind of keep him in the entire game. I want to see

him go down and pop some people. So look for big games from both of those backers in interesting well. And then you know, then you got this, you know, another quarterback that you know is allegedly among the you know, the top quarterbacks in the league. I asked Jed to compare uh uh ale to the last three quarterbacks he's facing. You really go into that.

He just said, DJ is a good quarterback. He's another He's another good quarterback that they're facing, but he's probably much better because of that right hand that they've got. Yeah, you know what, I think that, uh he's just another you know, quarterback. And then in I guess,

probably the best quarterback producing conference in America. You know, it stucks that the Pac twelve is going to die after this year, but I mean, pink the last year, you know, for all these quarterbacks to be so damn good, you know, I think right now he's kind of in the middle, just because you have three quarterbacks at the top that are so far, you know, just above and beyond everyone else in our in my opinion, But he's on that next wrong down. He's a big guy. Obviously,

he's managing their team very well. They've only lost one game obviously last year. They can run the ball, but he's able to kind of take the top off the defense. He's got a couple of good receivers. Hey, listen, we've already played against the two best in the league in my opinion, so you know, we should be able to game plan for this guy. We just got to make sure that he you know, he's not allowed to extend plays and when we can get him down, we get him

down. So I talked to to my guy here, Jay, you've experienced this. We talked about this a number of times with you Arizona. You talked about being a big game, so you faced big games like this. But you know, many times Arizona has been able to or unfortunately laid an egg. So it's just a history of the program, right, how do they avoid that? Avoided by sticking to the game plan. So what has allowed us to get better every single week, you know, especially over the

last two years. What's allowed us to get better is if we cut down the turnovers. We have a big enough offensive line and a good enough stable at running backs that we can control the clock. We can run it down people's throats. We have receivers that can make time grabs, and now we have a play caller that doesn't make those costant mistakes. As long as that defense continues to show why they're one of the better defenses in the league.

I didn't think i'd be saying that anytime soon. But as long as those guys are able to control the line of scrimmage or at least get some pushback and allow you linebackers to get around and people just execute their assignments, will be fine. You know, it's always going to come down to whatever team makes more big plays or makes more costly boneheaded mistakes. And as long as we can be the one that makes that extra play and we're the ones that

cut down on the bonehead of mistakes. I have a good feeling about this one. I told you guys last week, I really wanted to say that we were going to win by three touchdowns. I just had that feeling. I've got a feeling this week will win by double digits. But it's going

to be like ten wow. Okay, wow. You know one of the things that has been talked about, you talk about the defense, and you know, I think people are still out there kind of not really recognizing that Arizona's got a really good defense, but his has been watching what they've been doing on the defensive line. You talk about the bodies they have, but

not only that, they have big guys. There's a whole bunch of them, and Arizona's not in my lifetime ever been able to say that, and they and they can now they got eight to nine guys that they're playing in there. Yeah, when you're rotating that many guys and there's not a huge drop off, you know, in talent disparity, and these guys are you know, they're getting breaks. You know, they're not tired, They're able to go in their full speed you know, bet in their ears back and

getting after these guys. You know, I don't know about Organized State's depth, so you know on the offensive line, but if they're out there sixty five plays or whatever it may be, and they're trying to establish the run us being able to bring in extra guys, especially if they do get that first down, we're going to be the ones that are more fresh. So very important, and I think the more important thing is these guys there's not

a huge, you know, drop off of talent. When you go to the twos, you have some guys that are good at you know, getting to the quarterback. It's awesome, especially if you get an entire series offer. If you know, these guys sustain to drive. They get five or six plays in and those big boys are starting to hump and tuk. You have a guy that comes in who can get off the edge quick, might

be able to get a couple of cheap stacks that way. So just, you know, whatever the heck that just you know, whatever the heck they did over the offseason. I mean, they remember they did the same thing last year with the offense. Offense came out and they were drafting you know, thirty five to forty points a game. They just basically did the same thing. You know, we're gonna focus on getting big guys in here.

We can coach them up. You know, get some strong guys in here and allow our playmakers in the back to do what they do and you know, not get blocked and go make plays. So I can't remember when you played if you had a not a quarterback controversy, but you had two good quarterbacks for your situation. So I'm going here with this, do they have

two here. Do players? Do players not unite for one side or the other, but do they pay attention to this stuff and kind of pull for another guy if you don't have good leadership in the locker room, they could do that. Obviously, everyone's going to have their preference, but you actually, you know, in my situation, remember there was a year where we had Studfeld and Savage who both ended up playing in the league for a little bit, along with Matt and Nick. So we had four really good quarterbacks

on the roster. So everybody was comfortable whoever the hell one night starting quarterback jock. And you know, when it comes down to it, if you have a guy that you know he's a little radic at times, you're going to walk the guy that kind of brings that calming effect to the offense. You know you're going to be able to you know, live to fight another

down and you're not going to give the ball back. Well here we are, right, yeah, exactly, you are that situation exactly, And I mean, and that's all anybody's really looking for, right, just a game manager who just gets the jubb done right well, and especially when you have a big offensive line and you have a very deep stable of bats that can get four or five yards on the ground whenever they want. All you got

to do is not make a bone headed mistake. And then you know the kid got enough confidence and swagger and believe in himself that you know, there's been some throws where, you know, some random side on throws where you don't think you'll be able to make it, you know, through a window and all of a sudden, it hits the receiver run on the hand,

and there goes a thirty hour pass play. So and you got to remember that, you know, basically a quarterback's best friend, especially in a big game, when you don't have anything down the field, do you have a running back that you can drop it down to and he can go get five six yards. We've got four guys that can do that, So just put the defense. Okay, Jake, double digit win and that's what that's what you're saying. We'll see what happens. I'm going I'm going ten, all

right, thank you? Okay, great, thank you, Jake. Thanks a bunch. You have a great weekend, you too. Okay, all right, hey guys, let's get out of here. Let's take our last break. We're coming back. Steve Rivera and Jacin Salez they have their Eye on the Ball on Tucson Sports Big Chef, Fox Sports fourteen to fifty streaming live IM the iHeartRadio wapp Hey, he Michael, Welcome back to I on the Ball here, Fox Sports fourteen to fifty on Steve, you're Jay, we're back by We think we're back. Yeah, we'll come back. Picks to pick me up a little time to about about six minutes seven

minutes to do our picks. Sorry about all the confusion and the technical plisues. It's been a long time since we've done a road so we're don't quite have didn't quite get it right today, but hopefully still. Uh you're still with us? Yeah? Okay, all right, fab five Friday picks coming up. Uh, Steve's killing me still, I'm not even going to tell you the score. Just he's killing me. I don't want to know the score. Steve knows the score. So let's just go. We'll go first,

You go first. Okay. So I'm waiting all day Saturday to get to see my teams play. I'm gonna go with San Jose State minus ten and a half over Hawaii. So am I you're screwed now? That's good? Yeah? What made you do that? I looked at all the games and I didn't have all my picks. I didn't make all my picks before I got to that game. So I looked at all the games and I saw, Sama, Hawaii has yet to cover. They get there, they get be bad every week, and I just felt good about this small number

two for that situation. Oh, Hawaii plays well at home. I'm not sure this is the year. Yeah, so that's why I went. So that you went to the same stay as well. Okay, so let me go to my Oh you only went with two college games. So I went to the previous game before that last game, and I'm going with Nevada minus two over in New Mexico. Nevada holdes me once. So so they're done. I'm not I'm not taking them. But now I okay, So you got, okay, your last two games, the last two games of the

night, I'm taking. Oh, okay, So you're waking all day all day? Yeah, all right. Well by my second college game, I'm I'm late to this bandwagon, but I'm gonna jump on air Force. They're a team that that that maybe uh you know, they're sort of it in the in the lead spot for the group of five New York six game. They beat the hell out of everybody. The only one that's undefeated, the

only one left James Madison can't go because they're in their transition year. But air Force giving thirteen and a half to Colorado State, I like the fact that it's under the fourteen. I'm surprised that Colorado State's not that good. After watching them against against Colorado, well, I went back and looked at their score, actually looked at some stuff, and I looked at their scores, and that was the best game they played all year and they haven't been

that good. Six no sense, but it makes perfect sence. Yeah, so I've got I'm taking an air force over Colorado State, giving thirteen and a half. Okay, Okay, I'm gonna have to remember this. You post these games, let me go, Let me go to the next one because this is my college. Since you're going off, the rest of years are pro right, Okay, I'm gonna go come my last college game and I last time I had Oklahoma and they didn't cover. I jumped off the

bandwagon. Then they won like three in a row, including beating Texas. I took them again last week. They didn't cover, So I said, instead of jumping off, I'm gonna stay there. And so I got Oklahoma giving nine at Kansas. Kansas has got its backup quarterback Jalen Jalen Daniels is not still not back, so they're giving nine. I like the fact that it's under the tents. I'm taking Oklahoma at Kansas. Okay. I like. I like the team that you didn't pick because they usually play well against

Oklahoma. Okay, so my next pick is gonna be Miami Dolphins. Dolphins, Uh, they were gonna rebound from last week's tobacco and and cover this one. I'm thinking, who did they play? They they play the Patriots nine and a half to the Patris Okay, good, all right, Okay, we got we gotta move. I'm staying on the Chiefs. They've they've been, They've done me. Well. I'm locking the Chiefs. They're giving seven to the Broncos. I don't like the number, but I think the

Chiefs are gonna kill them, So I'm seven. I'm taking the Chiefs minus seven at the Broncoska. My other one is gonna be the Detroit Gliants Lions. Oh and they're in my luck after the crushing they got has nothing to do with this week. I'm a game the game guy. And make sure they're playing. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Oh yeah, they're playing the Raiders. Okay, at home against the Raiders, and this spreads not too

bad. It's eight. Yeah, all right, okay, I hear you, all right, Monday night, Okay, and then we both got to pick the Jaguars and the Steelers. Jaguars giving two and a half at the Steelers. I'm going with the home team. I like the Steelers, so you know, I feel like that's a I no other reason than the home team, and it's a you know, it's whoever wins the game, right because it under a field goal? Sure, well I'm going with the Jags, all right. Yeah, so that's the opposite one. I have San

Jose State and Air Force, Oklahoma Chiefs, Steelers. Steve's got San Jose State, Nevada Dolphin Lions and Steelers. No, and Jags. You have Kansas, you have No, you have Oklahoma, Oklahoma, GA Kansas and Suessay State Sennessee State air Force air Force. That air Force is a weird pick because they're good. They are good. They're really good. They're really good. All right, Well, we hope everybody beared with us. This didn't quite go It was crazy. And then there's a there's a crowd of

people here. There's an event here tonight. It looks like you got stuff going on. We wanted to thank George Modis from a Showtime Cards for letting us come here and put our show on. We had a couple of visitors. Georgie was on with us. I appreciate Jake Fisher joining us today too. All right, Steve, Tomorrow, Tomorrow night should be fun should be more than forty two thousand. I hope up the game, yeah, but it's good. I hope to get in the high forties. I don't know

if they will. Yeah, like this, Yeah, it's gonna be nice. What's your what's you call? If I were smart? Man? I take the points in Arizona. I don't know them. I don't know. I really don't know. I don't know. They need to win it just to keep your momentum get going. I don't I couldn't tell you. I take the points, so you take the point the point. I think Arizona's winning. I'm say Arizona. Who's tell who? I believe here? Here's why. Because the game that I think they should have lost, that would

have expected him to lose with Stanford, and they won it. I feel like they've got you know, they they they they're playing well, they're fired up. I think they feel good about themselves. And I just think that No, Fafi is gonna play a nice game, and he's gonna start and the rest of it's gonna come together. And I think it's like a field goal. I think they win by a field goal. Should be If that's

the case, you should be a fun game. Yeah, absolutely, okay, good all right, Hey guys, thanks a lot, appreciate it. Sorry about all the issues over there. We will see you on Monday. Thanks about it, for being here. I have a good samp
