This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez sound Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services and Sure Your Most Prized Possessions kat z R two sad In iHeartRadio Statia. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Seve Riverta, He's Jay goon Zawas got our guy sit in working the boards today on a Friday, Big show today, A nice show today. Linebacker you linebacker
you man. You know two of the really good ones over the particularly in the two thousands. Scooby right, Yeah, we've been trying to get for a while, just this just hasn't worked out. But he's here as an honorary captain tomorrow. All the there's like more than two hundred alumni who are here for homecoming. And with Brandon Sanders help who's been always a great help to the show, has been on the show a few times. He got
he lined up Scooby right. First, we're gonna get Scooby at three fifteen, and it'll be at three fifteen, so be sure to to with that. Yeah, yeah, good to talk to him, and of course we have I guess Jake was right before him. Right, Well, they played side by side for a couple of years, so a couple of years, yeah, but particularly the twenty thirteen year that you know they were both they were both starting, it was, and so they played side by side in
that twenty thirteen season that was Jake's last season. Tell Jake that he's following Scooby, well, who followed who? You know? Did be interesting to find out what that relationship with him about that? Yeah, that'll be good. But yeah, so Jake Fisher at about four twenty, so we'll have these two linebackers from the from the rich Rod era. But Jake also played for Mike Stewdents. Yeah. So we got about twenty eight hours before the big game on Saturday night, not sold out, but could get there.
I mean, Tucson is a you know, what are you doing? I don't know, what do you want to do? Let's go a game? Okay, let's go. Yeah, you know you can you can tell on this one. Jed's not happy. He's like, you know, how is it possible that we can't sell this game? Did anybody not tell him it's Tucson? I I don't go up and talk to him after the press conference, but I do want to go up to him say, Ed, this
is too soon, this is Tucson. Yeah, welcome. Well, you just got to win a little bit more of the exacta win a little bit more and then people will well, you know you got you gotta have. There was a lot of unknown going into this season. People thought they would be better, but still not you know, uh, you know, a
contender for the championship or whatever. So they're still kind of waiting. I think, you know, if they finish the season out and you know, in a good way, win a couple more games down the road, beat as uh, let's say they're eight and four with a Bowl game, people will be fired up because you know everybody's coming back, and they'll they'll be fired up for next year. There'll be some buzz I guarantee you this, Jay if they do. And I don't, I don't want to be premature
with this or speculate whatever, but I will. Uh. If they win and they get to the Sun Bowl, a few people will go right spend the day. Yeah, if they go to Vegas, a lot of people will a lot of people will go a lot of people will go because well it's and you know, and and and John Wilner, who yesterday told us he's got them got Arizona Day and the holiday bol people go to that. Yeah, people will go to that. That's a solid Bowl game is game? Yeah he would if he goes there. Jed's coach of the year.
I said, we said this a little yesterday. You did. Yeah that if he wins even more, I mean, come on, I mean the Oregon Oregon coach has done a great job. But that's kind of expected. I'm not skeptical of the guys who vote for that stuff because they always vote for the winner, you know, the winner the record, unless unless unless it's loot because then they say, well you should have won. So I'm not voting for you for coach of the year, right, remember all that?
Yeah, how many times you should have won that? Sure? Sure? Okay, no, so good. We'll talk about that most of the day. Anybody wants to call, they can to four one, six, seventy four forty. Sid's the one to blame if he misses a call, exactly so. But should be a good game tomorrow, should be a lot of fun. I don't have a feel for this one, Steve, I know if you neither do I neither do I I don't know, because if I would, I would go Arizona, But I don't believe that, So
I don't know. Yeah, again that that that the Arizona piece of my heart says. You know, this is a game that Arizona does win because you've raised all these expectations. You've beaten, you know, two ranked teams in a row. You beat a really good Oregon State team last week. U c LA comes in here. They don't have a great offense, but so I feel like you should be able to handle that. But somehow you cl'll do something to you know, to come in and win this game.
It's just my my negative vibes kind of taking over for me right now. So we'll see what happens. But I do expect to win there, to see a really good game. I think it's gonna be defensive game last week, very similar. I think, very similar. No I totally agree with you too, And we'll see that the Noel will be the quarterback. You know, it went it went kind of crazy on Twitter with what he said. I mean, he didn't say much, but he said a lot.
Yeah, with that, Well, we'll let him know what seven thirty five. Well, I kind of said that this is a this is he's saying that this is up in the air whether it is or not. What air is that just saying that, you know, Yeah, but but you heard you heard our buddy Tracy McDowell Yesterdy who covers you La said they're preparing for both. Yah, that's all the tread wants. Yeah, true, true, And come on, I've said this, they're kind of the same guys.
You kind of went a little bit more, and I agree with you, but it doesn't take away they're kind of the same people, but not they just got to play for the run more. Well, they well say, and that's the thing. You know, if if, if, if no Fafita is in there, you're not going to put a spy on him to keep him from running because he doesn't run that much and and and he's
not that fast. Whereas you know, you gottadjust if Jaden's in there, because you know that you know if there's an opening, he'll go, And so that that piece of it makes them work a little more than if it was if they knew that Jayden, I mean that no Fafida is going to be the guy, you know, all the way through the game. So it just you know, I don't know if you call it gamesmanship, you
know, you call a bunch of things. But it's kind of like, you know what, we're going to keep him, keep them out on their toes or you know, off balance as much as we can. Okay,
I was talking about this with somebody else. We were saying, how if Arizona keeps winning with Noah, is there going to be a point where he kind of like it has to come out Like we're going in to say, we're going into ASKU and Noah has started every game up to I mean, we just make He's just not going to declare it, right, right, He's just not going to declare it. He's just gonna say, you know, week to week, oh right, right, so you won't have to
Yeah, yeah, he doesn't want to. He doesn't have to. He doesn't need to. Right, we're the only ones who wanted yeah, right, right, and well and the opposed Well after the last game. After last game, they asked him what was your decision and picking Noah? And there was a second question. He didn't answer the first question. He just kind of you know, went into the second maybe maybe they'll forget about the first question. He didn't explain why you did it, but he did it
and they did well. Yeah, yeah, big shocker. But uh, you know, so I'm we're the only ones who want to know, so I don't I don't expect him to do anything as far as that goes. There. There was a strange moment though. I was near the sideline going into Arizona's last drive where the school went down score touchdown. Before that drive, Jaden ran down, grabbed his helmet, put it on, gives one
a high five. So I was thinking, you know, this is gonna be a two quarterback like system here, right, But I guess I don't know. I didn't notice that. I didn't hear about that. Yeah, so when was this? This was last in the fourth quarter when they were going into that last drive. I saw Jaden on the sideline run, grab his helmet, put it on, give someone a high five, and run
back to near Jed. So we were thinking maybe there's a play where there might have been a play that they were right, right, So I don't know, I wasn't sure, but it ended up not needing it. Yeah, sure, why would you do that because there's a possibility of getting hurt again or whatever. Because you have the running backs to pull this off. Yeah, I mean your question to him, you're just trying to run some trick thing and you know he's not going to do anything that's going to put
him in a situation where you could get it right. That's why you have the running backs to do what they do. Just give it to Jonah, baby, that was the key. I think that last drive, the overall play calling, milking the clock, scoring, I think that that was huge. So we'll see how Jonah Coleman has emerged this year. So he's been really good. You see that stat that he's got the highest what highest rating in the yeah, in the uh that overall rating that they do, he's
the top rated running back in the country. Those broken tackles definitely do something. Efficiency Man in efficiency, Yeah, I mean, he is so hard to tackle. I've I've seen pieces of the of the Oregon State game a couple of times since then on that PAC twelve, you know, in sixty and you know, particularly that last drive where he was just crushing people. He and DJ Williams were just killing Well that's That's what sold me. And
this was my last game. It was the Washington State game when they were tighter or whatever. It was early on and they just gave him the ball. Yeah, and he ran and he couldn't stop him, and then he ran. I'm thinking, this has got like an ob human bulling ball. He just can't stop him because he's running like kadeemed and downhill yea and hard. You got to figure that's going to be a huge key this week because you know, everything you hear about about UCLA is their edge rushers and they
make it hard for you to throw the ball. Well, then guess what if if it's going to be hard to throw the ball, they're going to want to run it with a bunch of different dudes. With a bunch of different dudes. Yeah, and they got four guys who can do it. They can put Michael Wiley out there and you don't know if she's gonna run or they're gonna throw them a little dink pass or whatever. So we have a couple of minutes. So I'm gonna put a gun to your head.
There's no bullets though, Okay, what are you gonna do? What would you do? Pick the pick them. Oh, if I had to pick them, I pick them. I picked Arizona. But that's part, a big part of that is my heart, not my head. We know where you go where you go with my head says that again, this is a very hard game for Arizona. And you know what, even even the years of Arizona's been really like okay, ninety three and ninety eight, two best teams. Yeah, both of those teams lost to UCLA. Well there's your
trend. There's your two trend. Right, it's just ucl You know, we talked about USC and and yeah, yeah, and and and Arizona has had a good, good record against u c l A here, but somebody, you see LA, you think of them less than you see a USC. Yeah. I feel like they have a harder time beating beating you know, U c l A. Because you feel like there's times that you should beat them and you don't. Yeah, right, Well, what what do you got? If I were to have to pick the winner, I would
say Arizona. I feel I don't know, I feel more confident in this game than the Organ State game. But the only thing is that we're coming off the win. Yeah, right, No, you think like I do, which which is good, don't It's scary that they're coming off the win if this was any other part of the year. But they were coming off and win over over Washington State, the win where they look really damn good and could have easily right, but that was but that was because they were
impressive and stuff like that. I'm gonna go with your trend now that you and I didn't know this trend, with your history. I'm gonna go Ucla because of that. How Ucla finds a way to give them fits even when they're at there, even when they're right right. And I don't really feel great about that pick. I'm not picking it with us. But a lot of times you know that Arizona's beating Ucla, they come out of I don't know where to do right from that fifty two to seven game you know under
Mike Steeps where Ucla came in undefeated. Well, I'll give you the an eighty nine game when you were both covering the team and the eyebone right forty two again, a forty two to seven game. There was the game. It was it was uh the year that Steeps got fired and and Tim Kish was the well was the head coach his first game and they beat That was the game that the that the streaker came on the field and took the ball and then the brawl started. And there's one beat that those those wins came
out of nowhere. But you know when when Arizona's got their full attention, that's where U. C. L A Is. Hey, we're gonna go. We're gonna go all it's gonna take our break. We're gonna get Scooby right in here. We're gonna talk to him about his time at Arizona and see what he but he's doing out here this weekend. So stick around for
that Scooby right in about five minutes. fifteen. Hey, welcome back to have the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jacobs Alas Snow on the phone. We have Scooby Wright former you of a linebacker, great one. How are you, Scooby? I'm the great. I got it done. We're doing fine. Great to have you on the show. You must be looking forward to the weekend with all the all the buddies, all the X guys. Yeah. No, I'm looking forward to She's both homies. He's more teammates the
other guys who came for me and should be going to be kid. So Scooby, Uh, you know, with with UCLA coming into town, you know, Steve and I were talking that, you know, they're just a guy who's kind of been a team that's kind of been a aren't in the side of Arizona particularly some of the some of the great years. And even though you know the twenty fourteen year, right they beat you guys that year. I mean, some of those great Arizona teams have not been able to
beat UCLA when other teams have been. What what don't you think of UCLA? What do you think of I don't know. I think when I think of the Ucla Arizona matchups, I feel like for Arizona to win those games. I feel like that will just lift us that much more. And those are important games for us to elevate Arizona football to the place that we want to be. So if we want to be a big time program, you
got to play big and big time games. Well, he talked about that, they're they're not They're not USC, right, everyone has this about USC, But they're on near that level of USC. So if you guys win one of those, you guys kind of start seeing the ladder go up or you move up the ladder. Yeah, that's the most part. But USC they're not playing too well idea right now, they're kind of they're kind of
playing up uphill battle. You see what I was playing good? So I feel like for Arizona football, just that southern California territory and just getting the reputation of winning in those areas. It's very very big to the program. So you know, you're back here obviously, and you've come back quite a bit and been a part of some of these things. But you know, think back to your you know, to your time at Arizona. What you know, what when you think about Arizona and your your time here, what
do you think about you know, do you think about the guys. You think about the games, you think about you know, you had a couple of Bowl games. You think about the twenty fourteen season, that was a great season. What comes to what first comes to your mind when you think of your time at Arizona. For me personally, Arizona was very near, dear to my heart, very important to me. It was the only school that give me an opportunity. So I took that opposity in our am with
it. And probably just the dog days of the summer, to be honest, is just grinding with the teammates, just seeing all those old faces and you don't see your teammates for a few years, but you see each other still the same. And I feel like that's that's true cammaderie as a team, and that's what you try to build. You obviously are a guy who bet on himself and did very well with it. At what point when you
got here? At what point did you get here? When you got here, did you say, Okay, I can do this, and I can do it very well. Probably not to sound cocky or anything, but probably before we even stepped onto the field, there's in the weight room and in the summer, during the strength and conditioning workouts because and I feel like there was a handful of us that we're in that freshman classes and Maji Grants and Nate to Left. Yeah, that were that we're really trying to make impact
early on. So we all push each other very hard early on. Even those names, remember, because those guys played, I mean you guys played right away. Yeah, I know we were Me, Nate, Samaji, Devin Holiday. I think we were like before, four freshmen who started right. Okay, So this week, I'm gonna bring you back to probably one of the great ones that we saw it as on the stadium. This is a white out. You were part of the white out in twenty fourteen.
The Hail Mary uh hail Mary passed. That game was just an awful game up until up until that fourth quarter in the Cal game. Walk us through a little bit of that game, I mean the ups and downs of that game and how stunned you were when when you know, when what happened happened. Yeah, I just remember coach ks our defensive coordinator, linebacker coach he was as mad that we were just getting beatles the top all night. So, uh yeah, it was that was a great That was a crazy game.
I remember, I didn't I didn't even look. I don't even remember watching the game. I remember watching the last the last couple of minutes of the place, and I was I was so nervous and so in tuned of I was trying to get through it. Yeah, right, No, that was the Hill, Mary, The Hill, Mary Hill Mary. So do you you had like a thousand plays that you can probably reminisce and say that was a great one. Were you your two favorite ones? My two favorite
players probably m M damn close. Uh, I'd probably say my Mariota strip. That's probably wasn't it. Yeah, that was? And then probably I'll go with my freshman year the Marriotta interception. I probably should have got a touchdown on that play, But that was that was cool. But the one where the you tossed the ball back where the ball got tossed back in, Yeah, yeah, that one that was here. Yeah, No, it was something he caught You caught the ball right yeah, Jack Richard and threw
it back into me. Dude. That started the whole thing, that started the chain and reaction to win that game. Let's go back. Let's go back to that with Scooby because I remember, you know, sitting in the seats for that game and thinking, even when you guys were up pretty big, you know, we thought, you know, we thought so much of Oregon that we thought all you guys had done was pissed them off and that at some point they were gonna come back at you and you you guys just
never did let them do that. You know, how did you How do you feel you guys put that stranglehold on those guys? I would say it is because Arizona or excuse me, Oregon was still high tempo at that time, and a lot of teams didn't know how to react and didn't know how to handle that situation. But Coach Rod, if you guys did a great job of us of being comfortable being uncomfortable, so we were able to stay boys and keep up with those tempos and hang in there and really just stay
composed. And I feel like that that's what really helped us in those games with Oregon, because that was kind of our that's why they try to beat people, and we were able to hang up with him. So, so you bring his name up, and we've had him on the show a few times. We love Coach Rich Rod because he's you know, he's coach rich Rod. Did he leave you guys alone on the defensive end or did he
get on you guys too? Yeah? He got honest a lot. I mean there was more so when the offense one wasn't doing good in practice and the defense was, he would always make a point so get mad at the defense and the offense I know they weren't doing good. There was kind of a double sword as a defensive player. He kind of laugh and you'd be like, how coach get pissed, but at the same time granting the running So right, no, I know it's in fact, did you see the
Mississippi State game with Delora? I actually I'm not gonna said, but you know what happened right with all the interceptions and stuff, and we actually got what would rich Rod do to Delora? Holy molly? Oh yeah, I mean he would Yeah, I don't even know. Yeah, you're right, no kidding, but yeah, so you know again, you know, those those couple of years were just really stood out. You guys went to another Bowl game in twenty fifteen, but you know, you guys were there in
a stretch. I mean you you guys, I think, well, you went to a bowl game every year, right that you were here? Yeah, no, the the year before me. In the years I was there, those were the only years in Arizona history they went back to back to back to back bowl games in the school's history. And natively, I take
great pidon. I don't know, I don't know if that's something whatever or whatever, but well, from a culture standpoint, that I was able to be part of that and the most winning part of Arizona history is pretty cool. On a weekend this Do you poke the guys with that and say, hey, dude, I know I went to a bowl game every year?
How about you guys? Yeah? I mean, I think it just coming back to having a standard and having the goals you want to meet, and having the things you want to do, and just trying to strive for the goals day in and day out, right, right. I always thought that, Uh, after that twenty fourteen rich Rod had something there, He had something there. He could have built off that. But it didn't happen.
What do you think happened? We had a lot of injuries. I got injured, and uh yeah, right, there's not just not just I got injured, but there if we had a lot of injuries and stuff and an offense and they just didn't pan out the way it's supposed to it. But it Uh yeah, well tell you. Let's talk a little bit about your pro career. You still playing football. You've You've had you know, been around, won some championships and stuff like that. You know, how's that
been for you? I mean, you still having a lot of fun doing that and uh, you know, I mean, is it has it been fulfilling for you to be able to do all that? Yeah? I mean I wish I had one more time in NFL and I was able to play at the highest level. But uh, in his day, I'm a football player and I love playing the game. I love competing and yeah, that's just what I love to do. So I'm gonna keep playing, keep doing it for as long as I can. That's what makes you. I think,
that's what makes you who you are. Did you you looked into the UFC? What what are you doing? Mm me? Yeah, he was. I was just training this morning with Anthony Birchalk since plants to soon UFC fighter. So so what are your plans that you still plan to continue? Yeah? No, I've just been training for a while, and whenever I'm done playing football, whenever I officially decide hanging up, I'm gonna be in my cage. So uh probably sooner, sooner rather than later. I don't
see me. I don't pity that, dude. I just that's hard for me to that's hard for me to understand, Scooby. But you're a competitor, right, so that's what you're gonna do. Yeah, I mean, it's uh, it's I've been. I've been doing multi since like twenty since my rookie year. I've then, I've been and I'm a bluebell and I've been doing that for a few years. So nice. No, I just I just love competing. I love getting ash, I love learning your skill. So yeah, yeah, you know, you get into m m A.
I get into golf. You know somebody that stuff that doesn't hurt you, right, I got I got a Harley too, So that's what I do. Aren't you a fireman too? Yeah? No, I went through the during the pandemic. For those two years when I was out of football, was trying to figure my stuff out. I went to the fire academy, got my all my credentials and stuff I had had a job lined up
and glad to go play football one more time. All right, yeah, so all right, so tell us a little bit about what you guys are doing this weekend, how you're spending your time with with the guys, some events. Uh, and then where will you be tomorrow? You'll be on the sidelines or sitting up in a in a nice cool press box, or tell us what you Me and my dad, Me and my dadd and my uh my godfather's daughter. We are here at a gentle fans right now,
just hanging out. And then tomorrow I'll be on the sidelines and yeah, be the sports charing on the outcat what nice nice go punch Gronk in the arm or something like that tomorrow or maybe even knock him down or something. Yeah, I was, I was. I was really cool with his brother, Glenn Gronk Calci get trained together for the NFL combine nice down and so yeah that would be cool for me. Rob. Well, thanks a bunch for joining us. It's good to have you on the show. Rubin us
a little. Yeah, it's good. We'd love to get you on again. But have fun tomorrow and uh, try and get him a win, if you know. If they need you on the field, go just go go, pad up and go man. Hey, welcome, back to Wi on the ball here at Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, you're Jaginsaws Hella. Guys sit here with us. Eighteen minutes. You want to call a lot of time. You
know, it's fun, fun to talk to Scooby. You know those two plays that he talked about, it's two favorite plays, right that pick that started the organ and then the strip. You know, the next year, you know, Mark arguably to the biggest players in Arizona football history. Really yeah, really, certainly the certainly the one against Oregon up there right where he stripped Mariota of the of the ball and that really won that game.
And that pretty much you know, you can say put Arizona in the Pac twelve champions in the first meeting, the second meeting, second the game up there. It was a Thursday night game up there in October one. Mariota won the Heisman that year they beat Oregon up there. Yeah, and so that one and then you know again that that twenty thirteen game, you know, or I think Oregon was in here number two team that year as well.
It was a gloomy, gloomy I mean they were like there were like twenty thousand people when the game started, Yeah, and there were forty by the time it ended. They had to celebrate because the weather came out and the sun came out and people started coming back. Right, we have a collar. You're on the r and I on the ball. Hey, guys on back. What's up? Man? Where are you roll up your windows or something? You at the airport? Right? I'm sorry, I'm actually
on my way to Los Angeles. You're going the wrong way. UCLA is coming here. What are you doing? Yeah? Well, I told you my little cousin plays for you and LV and it's her first game and I've never missed their playing Loyola Mary Mott, so I'm gonna surprise her and be at her game. She's listening right now, so there's no surprise. Hey, I just wanted to tell you, guys and Steve, I know you hate recruiting, but last Sunday I got a chance to go left Safita Noah's
dad. He runs a traveling football team called the Orange County or Juice County Buck guys. And if you and the guys would have seen this, the itess was amazing. The line on these guys were six three, two fifty across the board for eighth graders. Eighth graders that they played a team from Las Vegas, and Vegas had a kid Jay that if you lined him up, he would run a four four three forty. Wow. What do they do? Where do they invent these kids? These kids from. Was there
like a lab somewhere or what it ha to be? The ichs was amazing. Both quarterbacks were just phenomenal. They could throw the ball. It wasn't your typical Pop Warner Junior All American where they lost a duck. These guys were throwing shoebes darts forty yards downfield. So are you coming back tonight tomorrow? No, the game is actually on Monday. I'm I'm gonna miss the football game, but I get to watch it with all my uk la. Man. I was just gonna say, you mean almost gonna be saved from
tomorrow night's game from all the comments on my on my social post. No fact that there'll probably be more Steve because I'm not gonna be there at the age Jay. All I get throughout the game is Vick telling me this and Mick telling me this, big dude a break. Well, I don't see that because where I said, we got no internet and no no cell service. You're hooked up up there, but I don't get to see you.
I wanted to tell you about the buck Eyes, and then I wanted to tell you that they better be good to know, uh, because last has a pipeline of those kids from modern day and Bosco coming to Arizona. He told me, well, you figure, you know, with with you know no and Team AC and those guys keep doing well here. That's a pipeline that I'm sure Jed Fish would love to keep open. Oh my god. Yes, and then, uh, real quick, I'll get off. My pick is seventeen cats. Okay, that's what I think. That's a popular
pick. Smart something. It's gonna be. The score is gonna be something like that, just you know who wins the game. I agree with you, Vic, I think it's gonna be a low scoring game. So are you happier these days and back in the day like a month ago? No, man, I mean I am on pins and needles all week waiting for Saturday. We'll be safe on the trip going and coming back. Okay, thank you guys. You guys take care all right. Man. Vi Vic
knows football because he knows the people involved. Well, you know when when you say he's he's buddies with those you know, with the Fa Fa family, he's you know again, that's the kind of thing that that a program needs to have, right, the pipeline. Pipeline like that. You know, that's always been the thing of you know, some of these the Phoenix schools when they were feeding into a su not so much anymore. But you get hooked up with one of those schools that's constantly you know, producing D
one players. You keep that going right, you keep them coming sure and keeping them happy. Right, we have a collar high. You're on the air and on the ball. Is this Jim? Jim? How you doing, Jim? What's up? I'm doing well. I just I sent Steve a text and I said, twenty four seventeen Arizona wins. It is twenty minutes plus. So remember you're the one, You're the ones that said you think the Lord gives them a better chance? Yeah, and why do you
think. Here's why. There's a couple couple of scenarios that could play out, but there were more, and in none of those scenarios do I believe for Peter is as fleet of foot and the same type of playmaker that DELRII is right, and that doesn't make that doesn't make him a lesser quarterback and just style of play right, And what I'm getting at is this defense.
I watched them make children out of Colorado. I mean, they beat them up, and so I think the Laura presents a whole new set of variables that they have to contend with, one of which is running their ass off. So Jim, I think you're in the win. So I think I think I gave him for fee in the first quarter. And you know, if if we're not productive, I make a move right, then you're in the one. You're in the one percenter. There's nobody thinking like you.
But you know, although Steve let me, I'll play love Devil's Advocate there with with you, because maybe that's what Jed is doing, no, you know, kind of keeping it open that you know, you may see Jane de Lord just as a change of pace, not necessarily just because Fafitte is not doing well, because he may need that. You know, he may need, as Jim says, a guy who can run around a little bit with the rush that they're gonna put on you guys, are over there.
You guys are man, did you guys go drinking before the show together? You guys are overthinking this. Hey, that's the fact that that Jade Delora presents a playmaking ability that's different than for Feta is one hundred percent certainty, well, without question, and you have to live. So when you have one hundred percent certainty, Steve, if I've got a guy on the bench, I can come in. I'm one hundred percent sure he's got a base
hit, and I gotta put him in. You're not guaranteed one of the base hits, and you're you're also not guaranteed of an error or two. No, no, no, that's not what I'm saying. They're going too far. I'm saying, there's one hundred percent certainty. Does that the Lorna presents a new set of variables through the deep end. It doesn't mean that it's gonna be good. That's my point. I think I can't make that point. Then you see it happen. Well, I think it does the
job one way. I was about to say, I might even give the ball to feed again in the third quarter. Yeah, that's that's things and things play out, you know, get stagnant or we get stopped. Here comes Gloria again. Yeah, that's all I have. Alright, Man, Thanks about Jim. I want to go. I want to go to the youngest guy in the room. And what do you think about that? Son? I? I just don't. I just don't see it. I just aren't. We aren't, Jay, don't. We We live our life to
be stable. Look for some stability that's not stability, but that's not but also it might not be so unstable that it can help you in a game. I'm not saying that I think that's gonna happen. I know what. I'm just saying that Jed's gonna leave things open to maybe if that, if that's what's needed, He's gonna do whatever they can win in the end. If he thinks he can win the game with no fafiita and playing the whole game, he'll do that. I just got to text you about laughing at
your response because I kind of agree with you. How much do I have to drink to come and call on the show on some color because someone just texted me, Man, No, I get a gym. I get it. You're trying to throw the curveball in this fastball world, right, and I get that in Jim. Jim's the baseball guy. Yah. Yeah, so he's trying to throw the curveball. They're not expecting this. He does
offer a little audity or whatever. Totally get it right. But I just don't think it's stable enough for because you allow a team that really supports fuffedo. Right, Yes they're and they're playing hard for him. Well why would you throw do that? Why would you do that? Yeah, And it may be the only way he would do it is if it's not going right, and I don't the rush is too much, if he is not handling
it, he can't get out of the way whatever. And you think, okay, we got to get a guy in there who can move around. It'll give us a little flexibility, make a make a couple of plays, and that you would think that he's it's it's okay, it's a thing in his pocket. You cook, You cook, I don't cook. So you cook, and you put sometimes too much ingredients and you say, what the hell I did? Just put too much? Demn fault exactly. And and he might be a little bit too much salt, right. I need the
chef to come in and fix it right right right? So no, I agree, I don't expect that. I really don't. I don't, but uh, it would talk the hell out of me. Ja de Laura got a call coming in. You wouldn't. Hi, you're on the air and I on the ball, Hey, Jay, Steve Richard here here, Richard would make a quick comment about the quarterback question. Both of them are very talented. Fafe, of course, is playing marveslely. Uh. I think
the issue is which which quarterback does the team respond better to? You know? Uh, it makes him. It makes a difference who the jockey is when he's sitting on top of a horse that's Kentucky Derby. So I think that's the issue here. I think the team is is lighter and faster and quicker with no Fafita a quarterback. I agree, I agree. I think there's there's a hidden thing. And you know this, Jay, I, well hope you do. If you have the guy who's playing really well,
they're going to support the hell out of you. And it's and I said this and against Sanford, didn't you think you didn't agree with me? You went to watch the game again that they played harder and that is something there there's a little more zip when when came in right, and you kind of
said, oh, but that's that's how I think. Well, it certainly has looked like that these last few games, you know, you know, I mean, you know, just guys make him play right right, and and maybe it is and maybe it's that whole Maybe it's that whole culture that that that you know, Fafieda and and and t mac and and Manu and those guys have brought where they're like, okay, we're the survey guys, you know, not only come from one place. We're all pretty good.
Come with us, all right, we're all pretty good. You know, we want to we want to carry this thing. And and it could be something as simple as that, Well, he's a you know, he's a great warrior. Both of them are is a great warrior. And I'll tell you what. She gets hot out of the field. It's like he's a flamethrower. I'm telling you, it's just special. And so whatever, we'll see what happens. One way to go a big, big game of more
night. I think Arizon to win this game tomorrow night. I think they've got the physicality to do it. So I think yeah, I agree with you. And by the way, Richard, I'm really pissed at your Oklahoma sooner. I'm not just. I'm not just. So you know, I told you guys the weather would be a factor when you go to the Big twelve. I don't know if you saw what happened, but Oklahoma was driving the battle of the second quarter. Were started to dominate, and all of
a sudden, Kansas called a rain delay or lightning. There was no lightning anywhere. What a sham the Bible bell, that's what's going to happen, you guys. And uh, you know, we got to the locker room for an hour, then we come back and go back to the locker room again for halftime. Tornado. What tornado? What a scam? Uh? So that loss gets an astreak on it. Okay, Well here, when we don't have the PAC twelve channel, I understand the Big twelve, it's
going to call to uh piggyback on the Christian Broadcast Network. You get the TV uh they put up They put up a transmitter tower on the at Oral Robertson University. It's on the prayer tower, the prayer hand. We can be on the b YU network. If you ever saw that on your cable, there's a b YU network. Well yeah, we'll be getting the farm report, to the report and the football games. All right, Richard, I'm not touching. I'm not touching the Sooners anymore. I'm they're they're dead
to me. We're coming back, okay, all right, man, we'll see you. You're just it's not this. You know when you break up with a girlfriend and you say, it's not about you, it's about me. That's you. It's nothing about you. It's about me. This is
not about a home man that's so terrible. Last week it was great for me and he's Oklahoma fell way behind, remember, like, yeah, you know in the first quarter, I told you that I did that to you, that they were dead to me. Then they come back, they got the lead, the kicking ass and then rain delay and it's like, uh, yes, how long have you been with us? Uh? Since the end of last semester? Okay, has this changed that all since you've been
with us? It's consistent though, right, Yeah. The amount of callers that are his bad picks, Oh I don't. I don't think I was here during football season, But consistent enough. Yeah, it's Yeah, yeah, it's it's been rough. Jay. I'm sorry. This is all I know. I wasn't here whenever you want to, I don't care. So this is this is all I know is Jays went, Well, you owe me for the wings and we'll talk about that one where I let's take this. You're on the air and I on the ball. Hey hey, Bill,
what's up? I finished my glass so I thought I could call in. Now what are you drinking? Uh? It's clear and odorless. Okay, so you qualify for being a caller. Yes. So I'm not an offensive coordinator or a defensive coordinator, but I play one in row sect in section thirty two every week. I think that the defense to UCLA is really
good, and I think their lines really good. But I think our brain trust is gonna come up with a way to throw those quick outs to calling and t Mac and they're gonna do jet sweeps and they're gonna get speedy Luke on the end, and they're gonna open it up and spread it out and be able to run up the middle at some point in time. But I think that they're not planning on Theefeeta running. I think they're planning on them
distributing the ball right really quickly and accurately. They're trying to run the ball. They're gonna try and run the ball. They're gonna you know, if if again, as I said, if the edge rushers are the problem, then run it in between them. Don't try and go around there trying to run it in between them. I think that, you know, I think the brain trust of the offense is good enough to figure that out. And I think they're gonna They're gonna be able to do it, just like they
have the last two weekends in a rown. So do you think they're gonna win? I want them to, you know, I'm like Jay, It's hard to me. I'm so biased. It's arged me to to say. I never feel confident. You know, I don't even feel confident when they scrimmage again against each other. I affect a major injury or something. So, I mean, I've been an Arizona fan since I could walk, so
I've been disappointed many times. But I want them to win, and they've been you know, last week was such a great game to watch because they they played power classic football when they had to. They got a defensive stop, they got a punt they got a good return and then they ran it down their neck. It was fun to watch, Yeah, it was, It was and it was so fun to watch. I've watched it like that part of the game like three times this week, well because it's just it
was so satisfying to see them. They were losing and then they just made plays to win the game and then didn't let Oregon State make plays to win the game. You know. I know they had that drive at the end, but how funny is it to watch j Coleman run over people? And that was that was so condemed Ferry, It was so connect Okay, so thanks, I'm gonna pour another glass and listen to the rest of the show.
All right, Bell, thanks about you, man, I appreciate you being I know one guy who's not pooring glass and I'll qualify this Jim Jim does not drink. He's calling in and I'm having fun. Yeah yeah, so I mean you know that. Yeah, But but Jim Jim's philosophy I don't agree with. I don't maybe, but I don't know. I don't think so well again, I know it was just little league that we coached,
but Jim, Jim's a very cerebral guy on stuff like that. I mean, you know, we were always thinking our way through things with twelve year olds. Did you overthink things that time? No, not as far as I'm concerned. I'll get not as far as I'm concerned, because hey, we want a championship, man, we want a championship. How many did you lose? No? No, we want We just coached together one year we won the league unexpectedly, pissed off the rest of the league because
they thought we were hoodlums. Okay, let's let's take our break. He's a bit of a hoodline. She will be back with the breaking news from said
