Streaming live. I mean, iHeartRadio Whip. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Hey, welcome back to our the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, he's Jake. Now we have one with breaking news. This is Eye on the Ball Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Alrighty, So with some Arizona basketball news. kJ Lewis has officially announced that he was returning for the

next basketball season for Tommy Lloyd and the Arizona Wildcats. Yeah. I think it was a four gune. It was a four gun conclusion. It was a matter of when, not if. Right, he didn't get invited to any of the combines. So that's not to say that he's not going to be an NBA player. Done will and maybe after this season, right,

you know, more time on the court, he'll probably start. He'll get to show his stuff more often and in you know situations I think, well, yeah, I mean yeah last year, right, and I mean during the year, even though he wasn't starter, I mean, didn't we think he looked like the most still likely NBA guy on that roster, even very much so, I still think he has that much of potential. Yeah, he's so, he's got Arizona was very good with him and Bradley in the

back court. He saved him a couple of times, in fact, almost against the cumpson. I'm wondering, you said, starter, you'd assume that, right, you assume that Love comes back. You got Bradley Love who at the three because he'd be the three r uh, And then you have the previous at five, and you have somebody at four. I don't know, don't you would think that they're gonna be verter. They've got some guys. I mean, they got the kid from Oakland. If Caleb comes back,

we haven't heard yet. Yeah, they got the kid from Oakland. They've got they got this this shooter that they got the other day, the Australian where you're from. Oh yeah, Australian. You know, we got to learn that they've got They've got they've got a lot of guys. Again, how deep he goes is another thing, because he doesn't do that very often or in crucial time. Well, you know, right now, looks like he might have you know, a rotation of eight maybe nine guys.

You know, based on who's bringing in. But again they got to get those guys on the court and see who can play right. But you know it's again this is this is call it whatever you want, This is recruiting. This is still part of recruiting. He had to recruit kJ Lewis to come back and give him a reason to come back. Same with same with Jayde Bradley, Uh, Caleb Love, all those guys. You know, when people talk recruiting, you're recruiting the guys from last year as well.

And so to get a guy like kJ Lewis back now, you know, I imagine we'll hear from Jaydon Bradley pretty soon and Caleb Love. He's only got to like the twenty ninth to decide anyway, So he's got to decide in the next week and a half or so. Anyways. And then we have a former ASU wide receiver Elijah Badger. He narrowed down his top three candidates to Arizona, Florida, and Washington, and hence did that he chose

Florida. Yep, he did not a shock, not a shock. Uh you know, I mean, you know he's going to where he's fits best. I think, you know, part of it too, you know, badger probably, I'm speculated one hundred percent speculation. He wants to be the guy somewhere, right, that's why he's leaving. As I want to be the guy. I want to be the guy in a in a in a bigger pond. He comes to his own. He's not the guy team ax

the guy no matter what. But he would be a productive guy. He would be he would still be productible thrown to well, just not as much, but just as much. And you'd think that he would benefit, you know, he'd get open maybe more often because so much attention is being going to be given to the team. As I wonder the thing has closed up, the portals closed. I wonder, can we get to that portal see

how many people are still in there? There's still was thousands, right, yeah, yeah, And a lot of them make these decisions to go somewhere and they have nowhere to do, nowhere to go. They end up going nowhere, which makes no sense because they had a nice call situation and then they end up nowhere. Yeah. No, I We'll look that up at a break or something to see how many people are still in the part. They've got to be a few thousands. Yeah, yeah, yeah, thousands

went in. So there's said, we gotta be a whole bunch of left right. Just real quick, before you move on Arizona softball, the game has begun. At the bottom of the bottom of the first Arizona's got runners on first and second with nobody had Carlie scooping at the plate. Okay, Mike Budenholzer had his introductory press conference today with the Suns. You say anything a little bit emotional just about being connected back to Arizona. Yeah, overall

it was a lot more optimistic and open minded. Yeah. One of the things he made he was in the book if you get to read it finally in the next week or so, he was in the book. He was in the book maybe a time or two. I think twice one under Brozi's Brozi's chapter, because he used to he used to. I think he came to the Lou Bolson camp. I was told he coached, he was involved with. So one of the things that he did that he took from Loot was anytime he heard or got a message from somebody, Uh, he always

thanked them in a personal letter. I don't know if you get us from Ludo would always write written written note to say thank you for speaking of me and I appreciate your time blah blah blah, and I didn't write it. So he learned that from Loot as he became the coach he is, you know, and it's got to be It's gotta be great for Phoenix to have a guy who I connected. Seem he's he's got a connection and seems to want to be there. Right, He's just not you know, Okay,

I'll take this job because it's available. It's like, you know, Phoenix is a place that he wants to be. So that's awesome. Cardi's given just got a base hit. Arizona leads one zip. All right. Cool. On top of Arizona softball, we have Arizona Baseball playing tonight, as we mentioned earlier, six o'clock against the Oregon State Game two, trying to look into even the series yep and clinch the pack. Twef in Pact twelve.

Clark Candiatty going, I'll watch from a distance, Steve. I'm getting ready to order a pizza that I'll pick up on the way home and watch the game and kind of just stay out of the way and let you know, let the fate, let the fate handle it and not you know, be affected by my presence. That's a good idea. Last night the Wolves andug Nuggets played Game six another your money line? What what the hell happened last night? They just didn't play God? I mean, that wasn't what

I was expecting at all. Man, you have the defending chang did Somebody said they were down fifty at one point. I think it got close to fifty. They ended by forty five. It was forty five point game. So Game seven this Sunday. I love big, good sevens. I will actually watch I'll have it. I'll be watching that in the PGA on on on Sunday because I love I love game sevens in any sport, I really do. And that's the urgency of a game like that. And then the

Pacers trying to force another Game seven. Right. I guess the Knicks they have back at home in Indiana. What do you think one? I think the Knicks you gonna are gonna close close it tonight. I'll root for the Pacers, of course, for McConnell and Ben Mathin, but I think the Knicks are I think they're a little bit too mature to let it go to the game seven interesting and all just uh, I was gonna go put some money on the pacers. I mean the next we're gonna win it, Like

you said, I hope I'm right this time. I'm not right too often, but last be a tie game. You know that's not true that I got, I got. I haven't put money in my Draft Kings account in a really long time, in a really long time. Checked out. You're in a business where if your mama says she loves you, check that out. Make sure that's true. The last thing I have is that today we got the people got the floor reveal for the new uh n see double a

college football game. What do you mean? What does that mean? So they haven't released the new game since I think like twenty fourteen, right, No, but also the game is out now, No, it comes out July nineteenth. So what did they What did they showed it? They showed what it was going to look like, what it's going to include. They sent out like a bunch of descriptions. Nothing too new besides like new graphics, new updates like the last one. Arizona Stadium didn't have the little Stevens

facility, so I'm sure this one will have it. Yeah, new to the new field as well. But I did say, you know when they when they put out the cover, right, and the Arizona helmet is in there, but they got the stripes wrong. Yeah, they had the stripes wrong on it. But you know what, it's cool that a helmet is there. I'm sure sometimes Arizona everybody hates us. Everybody hates us. I couldn't even get this right, but you know what, again, glad it

was there. You know, at least it was on there because theres a lot of schools that aren't on there. So it feels nice to be included when three years ago we were winless. Just awful, yeah awful. Yeah are you are you a big video game guy? Oh yeah, i'll be. I've already pre ordered the game. Yeah. H how much does it cost? So they got a standard one for about seventy bucks, the luxe one for one hundred, and then this like package, we get the Madden

game and the are they still DVDs? No, well you can get the DVDs. Oh you're downloaded, but he's usually downloading now and that plays better or faster or whatever, or is that all the same. I think it's more of a storage thing as far as like the console itself. But then did you play it back? Oh? Yeah, so during the pandemic, I actually re ordered old Xbox three sixty and got the game again because I sold it when I was younger, just trying to get money to being young

the butt I was. I was bored, you know, the pandemic, and I reordered it. So I still play it to this day, the old one the latest one, though. You know. I tried playing that with my kid a few times and I was never any good at it. I couldn't figure it out. That's why I did a little mascot matchup. That's what I do. I just don't have the quick hands with the with with the with the thing. They're good, they play they they play the soccer games and all that stuff. Kids today handle my VCR you want,

okay, just in case? So I got one. Do you know that Aaron Gordon part of this, the Denver thing. He's not allowed to eat with the team anytime. He missed the first one. He missed the first team dinner, so they don't allow they don't let him met with the team no, no pregame stuff, no pregame dinners for Doorgan. He's gotta eat on his own for the whole season, for the whole play the playoffs. He missed the first playoff dinner, and so they don't let him meet with

the team anymore. Oh okay, well you know what? All right? Yeah, and he's he's okay with it, he says, I understand. I'll see you guys later. That's kind of fun. Yeah. Yeah, he missed the first one, so you're not gonna give us the rest of I'd be the same way. I'm very superstitious like that. Are you a good time? During the ELM, we had this uh watch party. Some guy left and then we got like two turnovers in a row. I said, you gotta stay out, you got to stay Oh you didn't let him

back in the house. He just heard a scream and cheer and he was like, what's going on? I'm that way during the I've told the story. During the twenty twelve College World Series, when you know Arizona was we sat in the same spot on the couch, you know, watching the games, and so in one of the games, I don't I remember which one. My my, my wife's uncle. You came to watch a game with this he's a priest, right And he went to sit on the couch and

we made him move. We said that you can't sit there, and he didn't really get why we when we expected to say, no, that's rape. That's where Rachel sits, Jay sits here, Rachel sits here, Gab sits here. You can sit right here. And we told him why and he understood. And you know, Arizone didn't lose the game in that whole play Postsea, but we sat in the same spot every game in you know, in the corner of the couch and the whole bit. So I'm with

you. Steve thinks it doesn't matter. But I'm with you. Doesn't matter, None of it matters. So did Tiger the cut, No, he's not gonna make the cut. It's not gonna the cut. And so did the other guy was he was he was eight over par just a few minutes ago. And the cut is one. And our guy daily did he Drew. Don't you think he's just enough already? He's a mess. Yeah, he's a mess enough already. You know. He at at one of the Tucson opens. It was at the two at Tucson National and uh, you

know that Friday night party, tent night. You know, we were there, and you know they had that band called Duck Soup that would play and John got up and played guitar with him, and then you know, play finishes, the song sets, the guitar gown, goes and walks off the stage and we didn't know where he went. And I go out, I go outside to go to the bathroom, and he's he's peeing on the tent.

I mean the bathroom, the porta party is right there. But yet he felt like the thing to do was to take a leak on the tent right there. So that's that's my experience with John Daily. I mean, you gotta go, you gotta Yeah, he's a character, but he you know, just he's that guy. But yeah, he's just kind of I don't know, his his whole persona, his whole character is kind of crazy.

So in Espianation Top twenty five, too soon done yesterday with I guess with updates with the recruits for some of them, Arizona is ranked what give me the number, Give me a number, football, basketball and basketball eight. I'll go seven, fifteen, Yeah, all right, fifteen. There's a lot of movement. Man. Well, but you know again there's still a couple of guys that they don't know if they're going to be there.

Yeah, movement, yeah, certainly. All right, Arizona has gone up to nothing in softball, and they have the bases loaded and one out. There's a conference on the mound with the picture. Uh. Villanova's uniforms they've got, you know, the Navy and and Columbia Columbia blue. Oh they're better than Arizona's. Uh No, Arizona works great, A true question, Yeah, Arizona works words great. He's a true question. One. He believes if you look good, you play good. No, but they do

look good. There's an all Navy, all Navy blue uniform pants and jerseys with the with the Columbia blue lettering and socks and stuff. It's a good look. But they're losing. They're losing two zip and this picture can't get You can look good and you still lose. But I know that, Steve, But at my point being that sometimes if you look good, you play better. We haven't had this conversation with one. We're gonna bring this up with one. All right, let's go and take our break. When to

Hey, welcome back to Win on the Ball hero on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jacin Zols. Now on the phone. We have Jake Fisher, former U of A football player, one of our big sponsors. How are you, Jake? Doing well? I hope you guys are doing well too. We're doing well. I haven't seen you get

into any argument on Twitter lately, are you okay? I've been I've been a little dark on Twitter. I trust me. I could have gotten to a lot of different arguments over the last week or so. So I'm just trying to trying to keep to myself. There. Good, let me ask you a question. I don't think I've ever asked you. Okay, So you're a player, and you were for U of A and you see that U of A is recruiting recruiting in your in your position with good, very

good, dudes, how do you look at it? You're in trouble, your posion is going to be taken over. How do you look at it? How you look at it? And you've got to get better. Obviously the coaching staff doesn't see you as the final fix, the final product. So in a couple of different ways you can go about it. Number one, you get better. Make sure that you know they bring that guy in

for backup or for death or number two fold. So, I mean there are a couple of times, you know, during my time over at the u A where you know, they brought in a couple of Juco guys and there was a no I mean, I think the year after I blow out my knee, they brought a Juco guy to play that instid linebacker besition because

they thought I was going to be a will. So, uh, you know, it just all comes down to go work, learn the playbook, show them that you're too valuable to put on the sideline, and go from there. The originally I asked, guys, is up? You see it all the time, right like Tommy, he's got to get his better.

Guys, you don't know what you have. You don't know till last minute or what you know, what the what the Falcons did, right, They've got Kirk Cousins paying them one hundred million dollars, then they go draft Michael

Poenix Penis, you know, I mean stuff like that. Well, I mean, shoot, when it comes to the Penix thing, in the Atlanta Falcons thing, I think that they got a guy that they know what they can expect while they're developing some of the other young guys on the roster, and uh, you know, I think they got him on a pretty friendly deal for you know, for that particular market, you know, even though

it was quite a you know, quite a load there. But I think drafting a guy to learn from him is extremely smart because the guy, it's not like he's a bad quarterback, you know. I think he's a fringe top eleven topball quarterback. He's obviously been to the playoffs, He's had some big games, he's had some you know, historic moments up there in Minnesota. He just doesn't have the type of intangibles. But I think Pennix has. So I think you bringing the guy that has the type of intangibles learned

from a guy like Cousins. Obviously he gave Cousins the money, so he's going to be more than willing to obviously teach the offense and speech, you know, all the little mins and cranies that he knows in the games to penick. So I think it's a win win both ways. Would you accept the responsibility though, Let's say you're you know, because we've heard quarterbacks handle it two different ways. One quarterback one time that I'm not here to to

mentor the new guy. Then other quarterbacks will say, yeah, you know, I want to, you know, bring this guy along for the good of the team. Which side of the fence, you know? Would you would you be on that? Say somebody came in in your position, who's quote unquote the air apparent. Uh, you know, And I'm all about teaching the young guys. I mean there was no money involved, but I mean after every practice my senior year we had three freshman linebackers that ended up

playing a significant role of that year. In the year after that, Uh, you know, I'd stay behind after practice and we'd go over film. So I'm all about the teaching. That's kind of just always been who I am. And like I said, there is no money involved, So it's like, you know, I just honestly, just because I bled red and blue. I wanted to see the program that next year be better than when

I was there. So that's kind of where I'm at. Yeah, well you see it now all the time because people just are just running away, were transferring to a different place, right, Very true, very true. And and to be honest with you, like I said, like we're still in the industry or the embassy stages of the NIL stuff and the transfer stuff, like as soon as they started implementing contracts, which I assume that's gonna be the next thing because everybody wants it to be as close to the NFL

as possible. You know, some things are gonna end up changing. But you know, as for now, you know, it's it's tough for the coaches. It really is like trying to build up good depth. It's almost impossible nowadays unless you're at Obama Georgia. And that's if they actually focus on defense for once. You know, So some of these bigger programs they can do it, but you know, because they have really strong NIL, really strong electives. But you know that's for everybody else. I mean, it's

tough. I can see how you know it hurts the coaches. But you know, at the same time, like I'm still all for you know, these players that want to getting paid what they're worth. You know, if you're if you're just dodging just because you're not going to player just because you know, you failed to show the coaches that you didn't you know, you weren't good enough. And obviously that's one thing, but I mean it's kind of it's kind of a difficult situation to be honest with it. Yeah,

no, I hear you. And it's just become and we're all over the We're all over the map on that right There guys who are just leaving because they don't want to compete, they just want to handed stuff. Then there's other guys who you know, leave because there's money somewhere else or whatever. But you know, and then you know, and then you had coaches in position, like you said, they got to rerecruit. You know, we're

just talking about you know, kJ Lewis coming back. That's that's a recruiting win for you know, for Tommy Lloyd to get him back and then hopefully get jayde and Bradley back and then we'll see what happens with Caleb Love. Well, yeah, and then just going back to football for a second, you got to re recruit your team. And let's say that you got ninety guys on scholarship, you got another twenty five to forty guys who are a walk on. Some of those guys are good enough to earn a scholarship,

right, so you've got to re recruit them after the year. And then you have two different openings for the trans for portal, and then you got to go out and you got to get freshmen. So it's like, you know, I can see how difficult it could be for you know, a coaching staff on the football side. When it comes to the basketball side, I really like what Tommy's doing because he tells these guys listen, like I'm

going to give you my evel. You go to the NBA, You go and you do you know, your go through the process, you know, whether it's the G League or it's the NBA Combine or whatever it might be, and get some feedback. I'm going to tell you right now, I think that you can use another year or two and then they go and they figure out what the hell they need to do. They come back to school, they know that they're one step or two steps away from making it to

the NBA, and they work their tail off because that's their dream. So like you've got these fringe guys who are coming back a year stronger, a year, you know, another year in the system. You know, when it comes down to kJ Lewis, I think he's going to be one of the better on ball defenders in the entire country. Next year. I think he's going to be Big twelve defense. I think he's going to average probably twelve thirteen points a game in the Big twelve, which obviously is a hell

of a lot tougher than the Pac twelve. I mean there's a lot of different things. If he works on a shot, and a SHOT's not broken, you just got to work on his outside shot. He's a good free throw shooter, you know, great backcutter, I mean, good pass or you know, there's some passages he made last year that I didn't think, you know, just walking his high school film that he can make. So I mean, just if he takes that next step, I mean we're in

great shape. Yeah, Caleb love apro an NBA pro. I am leaning more towards Caleb Bluff coming back. If you have Jaden Browley. I think we talked about this the last like two or three times that we've gotten on the air. But if you have Jaden kJ and Caleb Love, Like, is there any group of guards and wings, you know, starting in the country that you can definitively besides like maybe Kansas and maybe Baylor say that are

better than them, Houston might be, Houston might be good. Who knows what they're gonna do with Indiana because indian is talented, right, don't think their coaches any good? Yeah, but then in Houston lost probably the best point guard in the country. Yeah, yeah, that's yeah. It's one of those things where like not only are you know, two of those three dogs on defense, but Caleb Love actually works his tail off on defense,

Caleb Glove kJ. They're better passers than we give them credit for. So I just think overall, you know, I think their top four or five like bare minimum, and then you know, if counts and you know, translates over and scores between thirteen, fourteen, fifteen points a game, and then you get another step you know from bow. Again, I don't see why, you know, Tommy can't have a team that is even better than the ones that he's had in the past, right, So you didn't answer

my question. Do you think he's a pro? Not necessarily this year, just any I think I think he's gonna end up being more of a G League guy or an overseas guy if he the only way that I can see him being pro because of what he you know, his height and stuff like that that he got over at the combine, He's gonna have to be a point guard. I don't see him being a shooting guard. He's gonna kind of get the Alonso Trier treatment where he can get his own shot where he

wants. But you know, he doesn't really I think he's better than Alonso, true, but you know, I just don't think that they're gonna look at him as being a guy that they can play for twenty five thirty minutes a game. Totally. Yeah. Yeah, he's not. Yeah, he's not certainly not an obvious you know NBA guy right now. So we'll see, you know, we'll see what kind of year he and then he'll be an older guy coming out, right, so we'll see what kind of year

he had. Yeah, and he's not a key shot that you know, jumps forty two inches and you know as insane length and stuff like that. So it's going to be difficult for him, right, Okay, all right, all right? Football wise, uh, you know, just again, still so much going on. Still some players coming in, some players well the portals people are done going into the portal. But he's still got to like what what Brennan's doing. You know, we had we had you know,

a college did that you you really have to question? Okay, now, how good of a coach is Brndan gonna be? Uh? You know, we don't know. We think he's good, We like him, certainly, likable guy, but you know, now it remains to be seen how good of a coach is he really when it comes to you know, not just running a program, but you know, running a team. Right. I think the most important thing for him over the off season was keeping that

court guys together, and he's obviously done that. I think he's brought in a couple of really good uh, a couple of really good transfers. Obviously we got pillaged in terms of our incoming freshman class, and some of these guys that I think could have contributed right away even as freshmen from Washington and Jet fish. But you know, when it comes down to it, it's finishing, you know, the transfer deal. Let's see who we can get.

Apparently we're having a really big, you know weekend this weekend. Who can we get to commit? Especially at positions of needs. Running back is one of them. I think we have two really good running backs, but we're gonna need one of those thunder guys that can go downhill, get one or two yards, you know, even break a tackle, or if he gets met in the hole, he can fall forward instead of getting pushed backwards. Maybe another defensive lineman. We're gonna need some depth on the offensive line,

and then maybe even one more receiver man like Elijah Badger. The fact that he went to Florida that just baffles me. I know that they probably threw quite a bit of money at him, but you know, which team has a better quarterback, which team is going to allow him to have more single coverage the way? So if the number was that far fetch, then obviously, you know, that's why I went to Florida. But other than that, I think he's done a really good job and let's just see how

he finishedes off this weekend. Because a couple of the guys that are on twenty four to seven, Goa's and cat you know, all these other places. They're saying that he's got a lot of things cooking. So I just kind of want to see what the results of that are. So you were the guru last year. I think we get enough profits that you you were You were good at what you were predicting, because when you said eight or nine wins, we were all thinking, what the hell are you drinking?

But so you over under now is in half? Right? In half? Wow? Still early. So we'll ask you again in August. What do you think right now? Well, a couple of things. We're not gonna have to play against uh an organ or you know, a Washington team that ends up going to the National championship game. We're not gonna have to play against an See. We still got Utah, and we still got our you know, our rivals down you know or up north. Sorry, So the way that I see it, I think it's a more balanced league. We

just you know, it's not as hop heavy. So I still think we're gonna be around that nine win total. You know, if things come together, and if we do get a couple of physicians of needs filled. I don't see why we can't win ten and to be honest, if you, I don't see a reason why we shouldn't be competing for the Big All Championship. I mean, obviously you got Oklahoma State, you got Utah, you

got Kansas State. After that, you know who else is there. I mean, I still believe that we're in the top tier of the conference. I agree, I agree, I would. Yeah, I think we're in the top half of the conference. I'm just I just want to see what this is going to look like. And I think, well, you know, I mentioned, well, we'll know early when they play Kansas State in that non conference game up there, because Kansas State is one of the favorites

in the league. So I think I'll give us a really good look. The only the only thing that worries me is because we're the nude dogs on the block, everyone's going to be gunning for us. That's the only thing that worries me. So we might have one or two slip ups where a team comes out and just goes absolutely crazy to try to like initiate us into the conference, right, and you know, we trip up. But you know, as long as we got you know, a potential All American candidate.

And know if the FIA we got that big receiver out, you know, and Team Mac we've got I think are off defensive lines got three NFL

for sure. Guys. You know, as long as we're able to solidify some of these things, if we can just you know, run the clock, even if like the Colorado game last year, if our defense really can't stop much, if our offense can go ahead and run the clock, milk the clock, and we can just make timely you know, tackles and turnovers on defense, I don't see a reason why we can't just put some of

these teams away. Yeah, no, agree, I agree, okay, Jake, enjoy your time, your weekend, give us your give us your business field, Jake, business feel okay. after two nothing, just but still building over that great uniforms. You've seen it before, so good for them, But you know, you know what it'd be it'd be nice for him to have a comfortable win, right, and they can go in and zero win on Arkansas or whoever they play in that second round game, most likely Arkansas, who's the host. Yeah, you know, go get in there, man, just keep winning and see

what happens. Right, But yeah, Aid Zip, They just blasted him, just hit after hit after he hit all hard hits, including the homer. So all right, so there you go, Aid Zip. Okay, okay again, anybody wants to call, please do uh well, we're wrapping up the week. Yes, good week. So so after you left this, during the break, one and I had a little chat and he's on she's on my side. All the uniform thing I did not. I did not even he brought up. He brought it up in a way that I've

never even brought out, Like, way smarter than me. What did you bring up on? But he may the point that you made. This may be your last day here with us. All right. So outside of the sports world, when say you're going in for a new job interview, right, you want to dress nice, maybe impress that you and you feel better when you dress nice. You're wearing this nice shuit you got a nice uh

tie on, you feel better going into the interview. The interview goes well more more more often than not than if you go in there and like cut offs and a T shirt. Of Sure, but that's you're talking. You're you're talking two different things here, but they're they're similar, Steve. It's like, if you feel better about yourself in whether you're in a uniform or you're in a suit, you're gonna perform better. You know what my point is. Try to explain my point. I don't know what you're playing.

You could dress what however you want to go in and not for a job interview, for an A for two game to play and put me in a gunny sack with shorts and coaches pants or whatever. And I'm playing Jay, you're not. I'm gonna play just as hard and I'm gonna actually be pissed off because you guy looks pretty good. But let's get dirty, baby. I'm not gonna play it less and I'm gonna play as hard as I can through to me, uniforms mean nothing. Oh he looks cute, he looks

I had it. I told you this experience, and he may be listened to a good friend of mine. He but his wrist bands, his best socks, and could catch a ball. Couldn't catch a ball, You though, what's the point I'm not saying. I'm just saying that you, as an individual, might perform better if you feel good about myself. That's what I'm saying. Now, you're going in a in a doubt. Might No, No, I do, Okay, I will, I know, I do. I know that if I if I'm gonna If you're playing baseball,

Okay, I played baseball. I put on my uniform a certain way, and I wanted it to look good. I wanted to wear the right socks. I wanted to I wanted my shoes to I want everything, and I felt like I played better because I was. Did you dress better after the game? Did you think you disappointed the way you looked? No? But no. But I'm just saying that I felt better about the way about my being on the field because I was wearing my uniform. To me, it

has nothing about looks. I just want to win. I just want to win. I agree with you, I do too, Steve. But what I'm saying is that I, as an athlete, and I used that term loose sleep, you know, if I walked on the field and and like like, let's say, okay, point, okay, okay, I can't argue that, okay, okay, because there were a lot of times when I went straight to my game from work, all right, and one game, all right, I forgot my game socks. You were probably listen,

Just listen. I forgot my game socks, okay, So I had to wear my work socks. And unfortunately my pants were long, right, so they so you really couldn't see my socks. But I had my game socks on, my work socks on, with my you know, with my uniform, and I felt and I thought about it the whole game. Of course you did, because that's you, Wally. That's a you problemform, I

know. But but no, but I'm but what I'm saying is that there are players I get that, who feel better when they wear their uniform, right, And I get that, and I think it's silly because you're there to play put it, put them in a gunnysack with shorts, whatever, cleats, no cleats, whatever. I'm gonna play my ass off to beat the guy looking looking pretty good, or or if I don't have the right I undershirt or the right sleeves or whatever. But that and that was I

would be out of sorts the whole game. I shouldn't make you play. I shouldn't make it that way though, deep down, but it did. That's that's a you problem. It's not a game problem. That's a problem because Jay, this is the last uniform we have. But you're gonna start at short. You better play good even though this uniform it's with a number, with a number of pains in the back. Here you gotta go. I hated that. If you disappoint if you disappoint me, Jay, you're

not gonna play a game. I hate it. I don't care if you look like crap. I hated that, and I felt I had to have the right number. You're a diva, gun diva, don't you? And you complained about the people who are DV My first two years as an assistant coach at Saint Gregory A right, I was number fifty five. I hated that number because it wasn't a good number, and I felt I would have been a much better coach if I had my number, which was six.

You're eventually making my point more understandable. I mean, that's silly. That's silly. I don't think so. Still, I'm still on the play. It's the way there. You know, over time there have been more people who agree with me. Can you remember Clemson's uniforms, which ones basketball? They were kind of okay, you know, orange or whatever color, they were just kind of they didn't give a crap how good Arizona looked. Okay, Jason Terry, he had to have his cat socks. No, No,

that's superstar. That's just a super like that's a superstition. Maybe it is a superstition. But but by again, by j Jason Terry having his cats socks, he felt he played better, of course, but that's not actually a new thing. With the uniform or him with the uniform. That wasn't necessarily something that looked good to him. It did, but maybe not. But he felt how many people were there socks like that? He did?

He felt he played better like that. But my daughter, when she played basketball, she used to line up her Nike logos on her side, and if they weren't lined up, she didn't feel good out the way she looked. How did she play? She played much better with the shots lined up like that. Oh bad, I'm just telling you that that's how you know there's people who feel that way. No, I don't just put it

on their uniform. I don't disagree with you. But every time you come up with one of these crazy I don't want to read the Milky story because you're you're identifying yourself. That's why you don't want to read it. You don't want to know Rocky point. Okay, read read it, rock It's a great story. You'll understand. Steve was right about, Well, we've had this discussion all this time. You don't understand that. No, No,

you have certain traits, a certain trait for sure about you. You'll you'll when you read it, you say, yeah, this is it? So on going. I don't know what you make these things. You don't need to look good to play good. Just play good. Just play good, so you don't something. Okay, you don't need to know. I need to there one that solves, that solves the issue. But damn it, if you look good one and you have a couple of theirs, you I want you to look bad for the next game, just because it doesn't

it doesn't played volleyball in high school. Okay, last two games one the second to last we had. We had these uniforms. I did not like it. It was tied on me. It was probably one of the worst performances in my life. Next game, I said, work, I'm gonna wear this certain uniform that I like because it's my senior night. And we did, and I had the game of my life. See proof right there. That's a huge litmus test. Two games or you couldn't move in your

arms play volleyball. I'm just I'm just a little shocked that one was a volleyball player. So you to former used to be multi you know, you and I, I mean, I don't know we You know what you also have to learn about Jay is he's a airport guy. He's an airport guy. Go ahead and explain that, Jay. You're like a good airport team is they look great walking through the airport. They just look really good, but they can and then then they get on the court and they're not good.

And this is you know, this is kind of the thing I shouldn't say, but I will. You look like Tarzan, played like Jane. You've heard that phrase right before. Well that's that's it right here. Just play like Tarzan. There's there's some times you know, watch you know, watch warm ups, and particularly the teams that you're not familiar with, right, Like some of these non conference teams, you walk on the court and you go, kid, that's a bad team just by looking at them,

and it never it never works. It. Then other times that you walk, you go, that looks like a really bad team, and then all a sudden, they're they're really good. The first time, the first time I came up with then that where where where it came from was I was long long ago a on the Fistfall Basketball Committee, So you know, we don't host the team, so we'd always do airport a greetings back when you

could go to the gate, right. And so this one year, Florida State is in the tournament and uh, they come in they you know, they're getting off the plane and they're walking by us and we're greeting them in a little bit and I'm like, holy hell, these guys look good. And then they you know, we see him on the court in in their uh you know, at their game and they got beat. And remember the way the tournament went with the Arizona the team that they wanted to play in

the championship, and then two other teams and the fourth team in. It was always like a hyphenated team, right, and and the players on them, but it was always expected. But the matches are gonna be in Florida State showed up and they looked and we walked on the court and they looked so damn good. And that's when we said they were a really good airport. And they got beat in the first round game and so Arizona didn't get to play. It meant nothing. Brad Pitt bless his heart, because what

he's divorced. Mister Yeah, but he pulled Jennifer and for a while, how did that go with mister Pitt? Well he he yeah, well it worked for him for a while. Well and then he let me put it this way, he he pitched Jennifer Andiston to get Angelina Jolie. I mean, and who's who's ever had it better than that got worse? Yeah? Well, okay, so maybe he wasn't a great guy, or maybe she wasn't a great wife or whatever. But nonetheless that those are two polls,

that those are historic. I mean, we're talking about you understand my point point I was, I understand your point to the argument in total, I'm he just disagrees with you. You know, I'm fine with that. I'm fine with that, But many people don't because you just got to play. At the end of the day, you got to play no matter how you look. Yes, at the end of the day, you do have to play. Jay, you look pretty good. What happened too? But all I know is I played better when I look good. Did you? Did

you look bad at times and you didn't play well? Yeah? That time that I didn't have my socks the time. I want to call some I'm gonna tell mister Dave quick. Did he did? It? Was? David? Was jad good? Yeah? David? They will tell you I was good. They will tell you I was good. Okay, what is that? But partly because I was his manager? Yeah, well, partly because I bought a car from him once. Well, you're not anymore. Because he has experienced, he's seen it, he's seen it. He'll give me

the low down look. And you know what, all the guys on that team, Steve, were their uniforms, right, they were all athletes. They were all guys who so looking good. Yeah, yeah, they were. They were the union forms, right, they look good and and we did that on purpose because we wanted to look like a good baseball team. We we we were a ragtag bunch of guys, but everybody wore the uniforms. Great, and because of that, we want a bunch of championships.

You not, because of that, you guys overed on talent. You guys. You guys know we didn't. You had all these stars. Well I know, but that's the reason. There wasn't the uniforms. She's not telling you full no. They could have been wearing crap and it was still he knows that too. Oh my god, god, because we look good. You know, you did? You former U A players, a couple of pros. You know what? Do you think they were the airport team? We did? No, I wouldn't say we were an airport team because we

were. Some fat guys on our team were but you could play. But we look good in our uniforms. Really, sorry to boid everybody on this list. It's a legit conversation and there's people out there going, I believe what I Oh, yeah, sure, I completely agree with Jay and I completely don't agree with Jay. And that's it. But that's good day, good day, good day, And we'll see you guys next week. Yes, yes, yeah, we're heading. No, we're still trying to line

up some very special guests for next week, but we'll do that. But Arizona is still up nine to nine zip in the in the in the regional, and as Xander Schaffley finishes round and he's still got the lead by one stroke over Carling mare Colin, good luck to baseball tonight. Yep, baseball at six o'clock. So we'll be talking about all that on Monday, so be sure to come back on Monday.
