Streaming live on the iHeartRadio Whip. This is I on the Ball with Steve Robera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Hey, welcome back to the ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jay. We got Kevin with breaking news. This is I on the Ball, breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. All right, So, as President Robbins mentioned earlier and we talked about it a little bit, it is senior Night. Excuse me, Senior Night on Saturday, actually be Senior daity because the
game is at noon. That is true. That is true unless you're talk about the women, unless you're about the win. I was gonna get the ball if you weren't talking about the wom I was actually gonna go guys first because their game is first and the game is later because their game is okay. But yeah, so the players that are going to be celebrated, but you're breaking news, tell them, yeah, tell me the hell get away,
get away from me. So the players that are being celebrated are gonna be Umar Balo, Pelo, Lars and Kashaw Johnson, Caleb Love, Grant Whiteman Uh and Luke champion as well. So let me ask you five guys up there. The question was asked because of the COVID year, they're all allowed to come back if they want to. Any one of them coming back. I could see Umar coming back. Caleb Love's not coming back, Keishad is not coming back either. Keisha is not coming back. Pella. Maybe
I think he's off to get make money somewhere. Yeah, you met here, I'm gone. I'm going. Yeah, I'm going overseas. I say, if if I had to pick most likely with you, I'm with you there. I don't give it a big percentage, But I think about maybe who knows we enjoyed coll life. If he if he uh you know, does some homework and and and they and is encouraged to come back, he's got an nil deal that may is it financially feasible for him to stay in
school another year? Yeah, maybe he does come back. And for the women's game at six pm on Saturday, they're going to be celebrating Helena Poyo, Asmi Martinez and Sali Masu Kuruma. Those are the three seniors for the women's roster of just seven players. Anyway, are the seniors uh, tell them time flis for me? Were they part of the final fourteen? No, they were the first recruit after the final four on that team. That's
why I ask. I don't know. And then well, the only one of them who could have been on the on that team would have been Playo. And so you'd have to would have to look up her. And and I say this because what a great because she was a freshman in nineteen twenty twenty thinty Well yeah, twenty nineteen, nineteen nineteen twenty school you got it? Yeah? Sorry, well yeah, and yeah, and they went to in the final four year was twenty twenty one. Yeah, okay, so
twenty was a year that got canceled. I imagine the stories she could tell. Yeah, being four years of all the great highs to now not so lows. But just the way that things have gone. Well, they didn't get into the tournament last year. Yeah, and they're not likely to get into the tournament. This. Don't you're killing You're killing their mojo, you're killing their momentum. Don't be doing that. Yeah. So but she's had, you know, she's already had what one, two, three, four,
This is her fifth year already. Yeah, Okay, so she was so she's used of all her time, Okay, because you know, she got the one cod It was so And I agree with him. I felt the same way. And we talked about this with the women's team and and Kevin and I agreed. How inspirational these these ladies are. They are, and I you know, I give it. And I mean, and I know it's kind of ragging on them a little bit that they should have won
the damn game. And sure, you know they know that. You really have to give it to them that they you know, the number seven team in the kind she was here, they had them by the you know what, they had their best play all American players. She didn't have a good night. Yeah, and and they had him and she would have beat them. And then they went to two overtimes and still took it down to the wire. Had a shot, I mean a long shot, but had shot at the end to you know, to win it. So they didn't,
you know, they didn't get run over. So yeah, I mean, yeah, okay, look, can we solve heart? But the n C double A is actually gonna pause n I L investigations in the wake of another courtroom lost for the right, it means that they're no longer They've told all their I guess quality control people and and people investigating the boosters and the collectives to not any longer. Do if you if you really talked about wild wild West? Yeah, he was a play Bucks have fun. Yeah. No,
it's it's it's it's absolutely nuts. I mean they have to do that right then, and they can't. Yeah, it's like okay, just stop, just stop. So yeah, all right, And then the emotion. There was a motion file to dismiss charges against the Iowa state athletes who were suspended for gambling. Remember that big deal. Well there was dismissed the charges
against them for identity theft and fraud. Remember that all the kids who they know they found new evidence that said that we got to dismiss all the charges. Really, I don't know what it was, what it is, It just a story came out. Now to me, it was like that to me, you know, when I read that story, was like they did, but they didn't have another evidence or something came up that that they're not going to pursue the charges. You know, you remember the Duke lacrosse team
story. Believe just how it kind of ruined everything to a story that wasn't real. Yeah, yeah, those guys life were ruined. Well. In the ESPN article, it says that the motion contended that the use of the tracking software was unconstitutional because no warrant had been ever issued. So that's said they didn't do it. They're just saying they can't them up the loop exactly. Well, is part of the new evidence. That's the that's like the
whole motion. That's what the motion has founded on, is that they couldn't use the tracking data to prove that it was them because they weren't. They didn't have a warrant for that information. Jay looks unhappy. Well, I hate that, right, I hate I hate the technicality piece of it. But you know, they did it. It's not like they it's not like
they didn't do it. They did it. But they're being well, we did it, but you can't catch just because the X. It's okay, fine, but you know what though, we but wait, wait a minute, why why do you they can still suspend them. It's not maybe the criminal charges get dropped, that's what. But they might not didn't get to play sports. Yeah, and one of them is plays for the Broncos right
now. And he was he was suspended for this as well. Okay, all right, so yeah, like legally and criminally, they're off the hook profession another fash Okay, the n c DOUBLEA football rules Committee is going to pitch some new ideas. It can be approved as soon as mid April for some of those include in helmet communication between one player on the field and UH coach and a coach it just like the NFL does. Just like the NFL, players are gonna be marked with a dot on the rack of their home
They're gonna do exactly what the NFL does. They're gonna cut off communication with fifteen seconds left on the play clock or when the ball is snapped, you know, one player on offense, one player on defense. Yeah, it's gonna be just like the NFL. That and it's kind of like, okay, it's about time we had the signce ceiling stuff. And that really kind of accelerated this. I think, you know a lot of people worried about the expense. What about Joe Schmoe little school. Do they have the money
to do this? But they're working. I sound like they're working with a vendor who's going to make it affordable for everybody. That's good to hear, because you want to be a level playing field, and that was the biggest issue. And again, you know, maybe you get a few more plays
in, you know, all kinds of things. So exactly, there was also a rule posed for the use of tablets in the game that they would have eighteen tablets between the field, the sideline, and yeah, the booths up top, and it would only be able to use game footage, no analytics, no right. And the thing that I read on that was that the NFL only allows images, so you can only have photos. You know, you can't have video. The n C double A is going to allow
video, but it's only only in game video. Right. It can be video from the TV broadcast, it can be video from their own There was a trial. Yeah they did, they did. Yeah they did six six Bowl games they had and they said it went off without a hitch. But in the NFL, for some reason, they don't allow you to do video, just pictures. I did not know that. Yeah, I've read that when I was reading about this stuff this morning, which is kind of crazy.
That's interesting. We were talking about it a little bit Steve. Steve had an opinion on it, but Cam Newton came out and said that there was no excuse for his role in the little scuffle that well, not just me, Adam trying to him too. He's just a little different, a little different and and and he's a big dude too. He took them all on. Yeah, one hand, one guy one hand, the other guy. Yeah, don't you know who I am? But yeah, that's all
happened. Well, well, there was one more rule in that that that that the n C double A is UH is proposing, and that's a two minute warning UH at the end of the at the end of the half and at the end of the game, which would be you know again, look, it works for the NFL, it'll work for you know, to give him another commercial break. They won't have, you know, all that kind of stuff. So it's fine. And you know what two minute warning is a good time, raced on, get to the bathroom before the crowd get
back. No more, no more back to back commercials, No more back to back commercials, that kind of stuff. So you know, just getting more towards you know what the NFL is doing. I mean they're paying him like the NFL. Now, so what the hell. So I have a couple of quick things that you're done. Yeah. So the South Point girls team won the state title last night. There the second or third in the
state the last couple of years. We'll have them on next week. I will try to get them with the coach Joe, and then your your team, Cougar overtime, overtime, great performance though they lost, great performance, And I'm the I'm the I'm the I think we can put titles on this Steve. I'm tired of losing. Man, I want to win a game. I want to win a game that matters. You're a good zalees many of those. Man, you're the case. She's already forgotten. KOD means
kiss of death. That is true. He hasn't used it in a couple of weeks, and you might have actually forgotten. Yeah. Once you're giving a nickname. I know, I know, I know, but you no. Congratulations girls who won their who won their state championship. Let's take this. Hi, you're on the air and eye on the ball. Hey, what's going on? Gentlemen? Normally I want to talk to you of a but I notice you're talking of football. Can you, gentlemen, help break
this down for me. I'm a Miami the LS fan. Did what's going on with Tyreek Hill? Though he scrimmaged a woman and broke her leg? Orright, she's a bigger girl, I see. But the whole thing sounds crazy. Man, our breaking news guy is going to fill you in on that. I don't know. I don't know much about it. It seems like there was some sort of like backyard like do you know much about it? They seem like there's like a backyard football situation at like a gathering and
and he broke the lady's leg. He's a large man made of all muscle, and I'm sure so she's suing him? Is that correct? I don't know much about it. From what I saw, she's bigger than he is. So, I mean, it makes me sad because they bring Tyreek ann and guess what, the Chiefs win two Super Bowls. We haven't won a playoff game. Man, that was messing stuff up. You didn't they look so great this year until he didn't. Okay, you're right to was a
whole other subject. I just wanted to see if you guys had to sing man because he's diva wide receivers every receiver seems like they're a diva. And what's your names? I said what I've been saying all this time, those wide receivers a bunch of deva. Was to expect them to throw me the ball. I can make it. Shut up, just catch the ball and be quiet. Didn't know Keishawan said, just throw me the ball. That
was his book. There's a new one. Just shut up and catch the ball, all right, And I'm not I'm not saying this didn't happen, okay, but I'm looking. I've called up to Miami Herald's story on this. She's a social media influencer with two million followers, so you know she's doing her job. Opportunity and the crutches to crutches. There you go, Thanks for listening to me. He's been fathering all those babies, so that's not a good look in his house. And his house almost burnt down this
year. Crazy years for college. I hadn't seen this. Yeah, the man's house almost burnt down. All that stuff there was like a fake. The worst story coming out about him that was real. Poor I was trying to displace them, and then he got something got fired in the social media guys he's paying for his that they work together on content. And then he brought him to the NFL game. Uh huh. And when he used the phone and for a background, that fired him and banned him from all games.
That's not fair like that. He's trying to earn a wage. So how about you the guy he paid his whole salary and I think they still do videos. Okay, so he's still employed. Yeah, he's still okay, just not by the NFL. No, I think he got his credentials back. He might have, but I don't think he did. Okay, drama, drama. Drama is always and it's always like, okay, just go because I know that Bruce is a busy, busy Okay, we'll get him on and get him on for at Q. Okay, sounds good.

fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jacob Sauce. Now on the phone, we have Bruce Pasco from the Arizona Daily Star. Bruce, how are you doing pretty good? Are you good? We're doing fine. I know you're a busy, busy guy getting ready for tomorrow's game Senior Day. You had a chance to talk to all five today. Anything strike you, Um No, not really. I mean that's pretty consistent with what those guys have been
like instead all season. I mean they all seem appreciative in their own ways about the or two they got here, and you know, it's a little tough talking to him at the same time, and you know, happened to go one by one or whatever. But but you know, I think I think there's some sincerity there. They all have kind of different stories, and I think Tommy Lloyd said the other day that it's kind of a modern day
senior class, and that's very true. I mean, you know, you got two guys who one grad transfer, another guy who came in after one year some you know, for just one you know, probably one year of Caleb g Love and then Tell Larson and Lumar Ballo three years. And then Grant Whiteman, who's the only guy those five who actually started his career here and he's from two son. Of course, it's just kind of really interesting bunch of guys. So Steve and I were kicking around who would be the
most likely one who might stick around of those guys. We unanimously the two of us agreed that if somebody stuck around and might be Umar Bellow. But yeah, you like to think anybody, what are your thoughts on that? Yeah, No, I agree under present, I think he's the most likely. I mean he I asked him a couple of weeks ago and he said, I don't know, you know, and he may not, but the fact is that you know, most We've seen this many times in the last
couple of years, especially since NIL has really turned up. You know, this bigot or whatever that these big guys who aren't super versatile, big guys, but they're great college players come back and they come back because they're not wanted in the NBA at least with their current skill set, and they're getting pretty good in IL money six figure and IL money to come back. And
you know that's happened to Timmy Oscar she Way. Allegedly you've got a million dollars or something or more at Kentucky, Zachya, he got a heck of a lot apparently, you know, it sounds like it Purdue he's alluded, but I think he's alluded to something like it was better than the two way
deal. And two way deals pay five hundred thousand, So you know, I mean, if if if NIL deals are five hundred thousand, then and you're not even sure you're going to get it to a two way deal, why not go back to college and and be you know, you know, and get better and have have a good time and and get paid. So I think that's it's just such a weird, it's it's a different dynamic.
Now I should that's where it's at. I should have google this. But so what's the what's the clarification on international players with ni L. Well,
it's still it's still tricky. I mean, I saw something the other day where uh nefal A Dante, the big guy from Oregon, where the Oregon the Oregon one of the organ he was talking about how he's building his Mama home and Malli with money he's made from nil and it's that he went back to Mali to make it, which is which is one way to do it, because the rule is if you're on an F one student visa, uh
that you can't take a job away from an American student that pays. So so that's why typically the international guys don't do autograph scients and things like that
that are maybe considered jobs or something you know like that. But the workaround everyone's found is that you can have these collectives and uh and and be it a membership thing where they're not required quote unquote to go to these things, but they they have memberships for people to donate into the collection, and then the collective will hold like a top golf event or something and invite the players to show up and meet and greet, you know, and they don't have
to do that. So then that's how they can kind of say, you know, it's not it's not taking a job away from an own because nobody's making him do it, and then they get paid as part of that that, you know, that feet and I believe that's a lot of how a lot of places are going around. And then the other ways, like like Dante did and and some others have done, you go back to your home country and while you're in that home country, you do something and then they
pay you. And in fact, Kirkriesa when he went to West Virginia, there was shortly after that there was a video of him in Estonia talking about blah blah blah and West Virginia hoops and all that, and you know, I don't know, I don't know, but I just wondered this that maybe that was a creative way to get some anile to him. I don't know. There's always there's always a way, right yeah. Yeah, and now all the NIL rules are off, but this is not that's not do with
NC double as anyway. So yeah, so so going into tomorrow, you know, I know, Arizona fans are nervous. You know, you lose one game, you might be out out of the number one seed and all that kind of stuff, you might not win the league. How important do these guys think winning the league is a say, guy like Caleb Love has been in the ACC or you know, Keisha Johnson who went to the Final four last year with San Diego State. How much are they playing for the
championship? Any sense of that. It's hard to get a sense that. I think that they I mean, I know it means a lot to Tommy Lloyd. He's talked a lot about that. He's you know, we've seen it a couple of times this year where it comes out that they've been talking behind the scenes a lot about the tradition and the pride culture blah blah blah
Arizona basketball. And I think one thing they've really been pushing this year is is that this is the last year of the Pac twelve, that they're going to be in it any way, and they want to go out with the championship. I know that the staff's preference. I mean, the guys, I think they do, but you know, I think it's you know, I mean college basketball is defined by the postseason and we all know that,
and you know, I think they know that. You know, they know how far they going to tournament, what they do in the tournament is ultimately going to be how they're judged, not whether they win the Pac twelve tournament. And that's you know, it's it's kind of weird to say that, because when you win the Pac twelve, it's, you know, it's ten weeks or whatever of hard work and then you get in the tournament, you get hot for a few games, and everybody's as, Wow, that's the
lead a team or whatever. You know, that's the way college basketball is. So I think there's that, but you know, and I think in the back of these guys' minds, I mean, they're all, you know, like any college student trying to aim for a career. They're trying to be in the NBA, and I think that's also what they're doing. But it's just it's always it's a it seems to be a pretty good mix this year, balancing those individual you know, agendas or desires with a pretty good
team fabric. And part of that team fabric is trying to win the league. So yeah, I mean to answer your question in along way. I guess I'd say it does mean something to him, but I'm not sure it's everything necessarily. So is there any chance that Caleb Love does not win the Conference Player of the Year? You know, I thought maybe, I think if Arizona wins the conference, especially outright, I can't see how he doesn't
win it. But I think if it's tied or they don't win it, then maybe you give it to Caleb kJ Simptoms because he's just sent out standing for Colorado and if he can lift Colorado into maybe a third or second place
finish here, you know. But you guys know it's it's voted on the coaches, and so you have to kind of put your coach hat on or whatever and think like they do. And they they usually reward the best player on the team that wins, unless it's unless it's uh, you know, fractured and or there's somebody outstanding in the in the two, three, four, five spots or whatever, and that that is kJ Simpson probably this year. But but Love is, you know, his numbers have been really really
good, so it's hard hard to imagine. I mean, he I say that, and he could win it. Anyway, But I think certainly if Arizona wins the league, that's got to be him. Yeah, And you know, and I mean we over here, we get so tired of the well you're you're good, You're supposed to be good, so we're going to give it to this guy over here. You know, the number of times that Luke should have won Coach of the Year and didn't. Let's go those kinds of things. Of the year, Well, coach. Coach of the
year is different. I think coach of the year. And I don't know why, because you could that seems to be the biggest example that Jay was. Like coach of the year, it's almost always not necessarily the best overall coach. But the guy who overachieved with relative expectations, which is this year, is Kyle Smith. Now granted, and he's a very good coach as
well. But you know, but you could argue that that Tommy Lloyd got as you know, as much out of I mean, he lost four starters, I mean, you know, and he's still is still doing what they're doing, so there's a lot of arguments for him as well. Yeah, no, I hear you, all right, So Oregon's coming in you know, they're one of those teams a year and and you're out. You never know what to make of them. They get to the end of the year, they're playing really I mean, what do you what are we going to
see tomorrow? Jeez, I don't know. I mean, I I was not I was a little I wasn't surprised they won at Oregon and last month because uh, you know, because they had lost frinkly on Thursday that week to Oregon State and they they always come back really strong. But I was surprised that's the way they beat them, just so thoroughly. And up there they lost six in the row to Oregon. So you know, now it comes down here and you know, I mean, they should be they should
be okay, but Oregon is they're a scary team. They're playing a little bit better. They've gotten their guys healthy now. They've had a lot of injury problems and other things going on this year, and they seem like they've gotten past that, although they still you know, they think they uh they had a dud against Cal last week and then but you know, that's just kind of a little puzzling. I'm not You're never really sure what you're going
to get. But generally speaking, they're better later in the season and scary and they they've won, they won several times here, not for a few years now, but you know they've got veteran guys. They've got you know, Daunte and Jermaine Queisnardi's just you know, destroyed Arizona at Eugene last year. That you know, those guys are confident playing against them, and I'm sure they're upset about the way things went down. And also, you know, we say this about Arizona, Yeah, they could be one, they
could be two. I mean, bottom line is, they're gonna be fine. But Oregon really really needs this game. So if that matters at all, you got to give the edge to Oregon in that sense that they need to win if they're going to have a chance at in that large bid and and certainly if they're going to stay in the race of the league championship. Let me ask you a question, Uh so you cover the team closely, who's the most important or not important? I'm sorry, who's the most beloved
player right now on this team? Who would you think this like the Josh Passner or the TJ. McConnell that the fans just truly adore, you don't know, obviously doesn't have to be a starter, But is there is there one? I don't really get a sense that there's one. Well, yeah, I mean, you know, part of that is just yeah, I would say probably bollow because he is so publicly appreciative of everything he gets. He's always crediting the fans. He's a very modest, soft spoken guy.
He's very likable, and he's been you know, and I think you know, you've seen this both of guys that like, you know, it's the guys who stick around tend to be more popular because fans get to know him. And I think Tell Larson too a little bit. But i'd say,
you know, both those guys. But but Ballow, you know, I think he maybe you know, resonates a little bit more just overall, and and you know, just judging by some of the you know, you go back to like the Red Blue game, you can usually judge popularity by the loudness of the applause and I think he I think he had the most in that one too, So it's not a clear cut thing. Yeah, you're right about that, And I think you know, Grant Whiteman's a local kid.
I think a lot of people, like I don't think he get out there much, so people don't see him much. But you know, I think I think, you know, fans that follow the team closely have a strong feeling from him because he's a local kid, a really good player. Actually led his high school team, helped leading high school team to South Point to the state title. And you know, he's got a lineage there.
His grandpa was litt Olsen's friends, all that kind of stuff. There's just you know, there's a lot of a lot of ties between him and the program too. And maybe just another nod one, who's the most frush Who do you think that the fans is the most frustrating player? That's a loading question. What do you mean like on the court or on the on the
court on the court, because there's too many. But that's also so sometimes that like I would say, just up the top of my head, I would say common bosse, everybody does, well, you know, he should be this, he should be that, you know, And then there's the other side. He's eighteen, Okay, yeah, we all know that. But you know the fact is that he did get he did come in with a lot of expectations on him and he's the point guard at the University of
Arizona. I mean like that, and like I mean, look at for Cresa, I mean like they were saying this about Boswell and like for Creesa was probably five times a lightning rod, that kind of Boswell is this year. You know, it's just it's it's a hard position to be in.
And you know, he came in as a you know, a guy who would have been McDonald's if he wasn't hurt, you know, as a after his junior in high school and and you know, five star blah blah blah, and so you know, relative expectations, and yeah, he's been up and down, but you know he's still he's still really good, and he's still they still they still believe in him, all that kind of stuff. So you know, we want relative to that, Yeah, we want to
let you go. So one more question, because I was at the game with you at an issue and Tommy even made this reference with with Caleb Glove talking about his shots. No, no, no, okay, good shot, you know what I'm saying, And he's talked about that with him. Did you find that interesting. Yeah, well, you know, I mean that's kind of been the whole story with him and he you know, right, I mean I think it was that that that three pointer he hit in
a wide open one. I think he was is that are you talking about? Yeah, he had a long three against I think I think I think Lloyd was worried, you know, because if he missed it, it was, you know, gonna be you know, definitely, uh, they weren't gonna be able to rebound it and that would give the airs, you a break or whatever. But yeah, I mean and maybe you know, maybe he's seen loving situations where he knows he's button up cleaner or whatever more.
But I don't know that that was a weird comment. But I mean, the whole, the whole story of his season has been his shooting and his shot selection, and it has nottably better than it was last year. It's notably better than his expectations were. Whether it's the level that he wants and Lloyd wants, I don't know, but it's but he's been, you know, overall, you know, pretty effective for them. So you know that was on Okay, Okay, thanks Bruce, get back to work and are
you're busy. Yeah, appreciate you, thanks much, Bruce, Bruce pasco is it I do not miss that? No, I did not miss the work, you know, every day and having to go to that press conference and five guys, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. And then the transcriptions you know that transcriptions you have to write five different stories. Oh, I don't know if you have to, but you do do yeah, and then all the social media. So anyways, all right, let's go take
our last break. We'll come back. We'll take your calls in anything you guys want to talk about. Hey, welcome back to I the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jay, got Kevin nan Adam with us. We got fifteen minutes, sixteen minutes to take some calls and then we're out a year for the weekend. Yep, I'm mad, Steve. No, well, it'd be more of us. I'm sure it'd be
more of a story. I'm happy Steve, breaking news. So why are you this thing that Kevin sent us? What about? Tell me Andy Reid's kid. You're talking? Okay? All right, Andy Reid's kid. He's a coach with the Chiefs. He gets hammered at the Chiefs facility. All right. Driving home, he's going eighty five and a sixty five, gets in a wreck. Five year old girls got traumatic brain injury. She's going to be, you know, uh, disabled the rest of her life.
Six people injured, Six people injured. He goes to jail for a year and change and the governor of Missouri commutes his sentence and he's on house arrest for the rest of his sentence. It's basically he gets to go home and watch what's the what's the rest of his sentence? Twenty twenty five? In October of twenty twenty five, So a year, a year and a half, he has to go home. Hey, if it's you, if it's you, Adam, if it's you, if it's me, We're not getting
out of jail for that. Yeah, my dad's not winning any Super bowls Arizona right now. So I this pisses me off, and I go, we all, we all know the the fairness, uninherent unfairness of our judicial system, for particularly as it relates to minorities. But this is bull crap.
And I'm really mad at this because this guy nearly killed the little girl, and and and what the what what the the spokesman for the governor said is that he spent more time in prison than most individuals committed of a convicted of similar offenses. That is the biggest load of crap. Ever, that's just that just can't be didn't have any response from the families, No,
because this place is still initially. This is just initial. The guy blows up a point one one three, which you know, point eight is the is the is the legal legal limit? He goes point point one one three is a lot. I once did a for for a story, h a newspaper story back when I was covering cops, and they took us out to
Marana High School and we did a driving test. Then we went into a motor home and got they got me and and remember I don't know if you were here with Nina trace Off, me and Nina trace Off and one other one other report I can't remember who it was. And they got his hammered. Okay, you know we were there with the chef's department and he got his hammered. And then so we got there before school started and they all, you know, all the kids came out and we said hi, and
we did these driving tests. They went to school, and then when they got out of three o'clock, they came back out and we were in the parking lot and we've been drinking all day. I only blew a point eight eight and at that time the legal limit was point one. Oh. I didn't even get to the legal limit. And I got behind the wheel of a car and it was like it was stupid. I mean, there's a
there's a really there's a picture that ran with the story. It showed me just running right over some of the cones, all right, I mean just ran right over the cones. I mean I was and I hadn't even gotten to the league limit yet. What what happened? You people don't know how
hammered you need to be to be a point one one three. That's that was my first thought when I read the story, I was like, one one, yeah, I mean, you have to be really, really drunk, especially if I'm sure he's a big dude, right I was a football player at some point. Or if not, I mean, if it's anything like his dad, he's a big dude. Okay. To get to be that big and get to a point one one three means you had a pound for a long period of time. And and he does that and he's out
of jail and you know, in a little over a year. I'm surprised that the total sentence was two and a half years. Had to be to an aver that Stephens still because they gave him all. They gave the family all this money and think that fixes it, right then they're paying for her medical and stuff like that. But about I'd be pissed. You know,
there's nothing fair in the world. You word, if if Andy Reid was a great dad, okay, I would expect him to when they when the kid, when he walks out of the prison to walk up to him, grab him by the shirt collar and just start slapping the hell out of him, kick him to the ground, kick him in the side. He's not hispanic. The have you've seen the memes on Facebook. We're talking about the mom yelling at him, and then if they were Anglo they would be totally
different. No, no, no, you want to you want to sandal throw him at him? Right belt or the belt or the belt? Yeah, that's ye. Beat the hell out of the dude. Yeah, it's unfortunate, unfortunate, it's our Kim is a shock to me too. A year and a half at the most, and then the rest of the year and a half. Yeah, I was. I was trying to find, like what the average sentence for his type of charge in Missouria. It should
have been more than that to find it. But I did find in Arizona, if you had like some sort of d u y incident with a crash, you could be in jelf for anywhere from like four to twelve years. Yes, and that's without a that's without a injury. That's like, yeah, yeah, I can. Okay, I'm sorry, you're still mad, you invented, You're okay? Feel better? Shoulders? You guys want to talk about some positive news, Go ahead, I forgot give us something to go. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys about that.
Yeah, going into the basketball Ring of Honor because he was a great baseball player. I love that. So so you did you read you were at one hundred things every fan needs to do. You have it, I'm sure. So him and Lute never they had a good relationship, but it was it was a contentious relationship because Kenny wanted to play. He wanted to play more than what he played, and he wanted to play a different game. And Luke said, no, they ain't gonna work here. But obviously
he was very talented. Heck of a basketball player, a heck of a baseball player, obviously, but lut and to this day, I remember Luke. Remember Luke telling me, Kenny, I think everything turned out right for you. You didn't have this. You can stop complaining. You know you want more time. You turned out Okay, that is true. That's funny, That is funny. But I love Kenny. He was. He was so funny and another quiet dude. Though he didn't really similuch did he know
around the guys. He did around the guys, he did like he First of all, he was the guy who cut the other guy's hair. So you'd see him, Yeah, you'd see him at the like at the hotel room. You know when traveled with him and he was he was the dude that did all the haircuts. No, he was very he was very animated around around the other guys. Let's take this call. Hi, are on the air and Eye on the ball. Hey it's James. James. Yeah,
I just want to get my shout out to the women's basketball. They put on a great effort yesterday and it sucks that ain't pull it off, but they played it hard and it was fun to watch. Did you go, yes, you were? What was this crowd? Seventy five eight thousand? I think they showed it was like forty or seventy four or so. It was a good chice crowd. Yeah, I just on the radio. Sounded sounded pretty pretty good. Uh is there? What do you think about
the job that she's done this year? I'd say the second half of the year, she's done a tremendous job. Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean you do have to give her credit for that. But on the other hand, you know, how do they get to this point with that? You know, just so few players, So that's gotta be a it's hard to figure out what you know what to think there? Well, I feel
now the chemistry is really good. I think the players are wanting to give the full effort, and I'm excited about Senior Night tomorrow and sending off Helena with a win on Senior Night and giving a cascade to the NCAA tournament and hopefully making a deep run. All right, man, Oh, we'll see if they do. They had it last night, but maybe they come back
and finish it tomorrow. So James, are you going to the PAC twelve tournament, either men's or women Unfortunately I'm not going to make the women's, but I am going to men's. Okay, yeah, because I think we saw you there two years ago with us you came to visit. Yeah. I think that I worked out for the d YU game when I stopped football football things. Okay, I get it. Okay, James, thank you, Thanks James, right, you got to take care it all runs together.
I don't remember that you reach your name and that's too funny. So good good. Good for Kana Lofton. I mean, I you know, he look and he was he at that he was one of the most exciting players. And if you want to talk about just in terms of just an exciting player, only Seawan Elliott was you know what was more than that? You know, I mean he I mean he was five eleven and could dunk with no effort. So so in along those lines, because you covered that
guy. Uh and I didn't cover this guy, but lou who's the most athletic guy player that said played for him during his time athletic? Oh oh, this is a trick question. It is a trick. It's not Sean Elliot. It's not Sean Elliott most athletic. Well, certainly not Tom Tobert good point, he was not on the list, not at Stokes. No, No, let's take this car. Hi, you're on the air and on the ball. Hey, guys, how's it going? What's the power? Hey? So when that story happened, what sixty nine months ago or
a year more than any rething? It was in twenty twenty two? It was it was it was oh yeah, yeah, yeah, it was late twenty twenty two, right, And did you know that earlier like five years ago? The uh, they were rampant drug drugs in Randy reids Hot because of these same kids. He's got two sons. Oh really, it's like a den of iniquity. Do you remember that? No, seriously, I
believe you. I believe you. I hear. Yeah. It's like, obviously the wife had a big job, she's pretty and everything, but he needs to be the dad to set some rules down because he's obviously never home, he's so dedicated. Yeah again, I just think. I just think the kid needs to be slapped around a bunch. The den of iniquity, that's what they said, the drug pair for everything, it was the worst. It's funny is that term because my mom my mom used to call the
house where my brothers lived. She called it that the drugs, But they never had the drugs. They didn't do the drugs. Needs kids sad they didn't do. You're funny. Oh one more thing. I just read that both Beal, mainly Beal because the Cave loved you know, he played on one of Beal's where he was a counselor on the AAU team. Bradley Beal's sons Oh okay, Oh are okay? And then of course Kevin Durant.
They're both big fans of Caleb Bluff, are they. He's going to play somewhere, I'm sure and well, but they haven't picked the eighty eighth. I think if he does really good in the tournament because I think he's going to be fifty percent ready, that more ready than at least fifty or six fifty of the draft picks going out. I think he's good and he'll make a pro team, and if I guess as far as they go, his stock will go way up in the tournament. All right, Howard, thanks
so much, man, you will see guys. Thank you. You know, he just can't pull an Alonso tree. I just don't think that he will. Will I No, no, I don't think he will make it. Everythink I'm making an NBA Why not. Uh, he's he's a little trier like, but he's got he can shoot the end and that and that's all he's got. But not true to me. Yeah, he can handle the ball, sure, but he's he's used to having the ball in his hand and all the time. That's not what the NBA is about anymore.
It's about you know, equals, not equal distribution. But it's passing, finding the open man. That's why this team looks so good. I think we were talked about that, finding the When the ball finds the open man, this team is fantastic, and not just with him or Bradley. Okay, what would you consider making it just being on a team. Yeah, for a certain amount of time. How many years? No? One year?
If he makes it for a year, he's on the team. Not to your point, but if you were to say, okay, he made it in the NBA, he made he spends at least one year in the in the league. Okay, Trier, Trier made it, but he didn't make it. You know, he signed because because we I mean, out of consider tear having made it in the NBA. Then he got a cup of coffee and was gone. But he was He made a huge contract, signing for a year huge contract. Remember he didn't, he didn't and then
he did because okay, who's a better player? Man, that's a tough call for me, not for me. It's gonna well you know where'm gonna lean im gonna lean with with Caleb. Yeah, but Trier was just one of those things that he just had to have the ball. And we know to he you know, he was he just wasn't a good teammates. See I feel but see I feel like Caleb moves around he you know, he
moves the ball does and he does. I think he's a I think he's a way more complete player and way more don't do some selfish player then Alonzo Tree or every one didn't see that wasn't the question to me. You're I'm talking about making it, but the point you say, but you're saying that he's not gonna make it because he has to have the ball, he keeps the ball, and I don't. I don't really agree. We could, we could. We could make a bed on this one too. We will
then, Okay, so I have two witnesses. You're like on me eight lunches already. Know you owe me a lot of money from the football season, right, No, but you owe me lunch. You ain't gonna eat sixty bucks of the food. Oh I could speaking up. Did you know that that? Yeah? I saw that. I saw that too. Yeah, I saw that just this week, both to the guys at the double l across the street. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if that changes
there. We'll have to go there. We'll take the kids, and you know whatever, I'm only paying for you, I'm not paying for Kevin. Kevin looks like he can bring it. Yeah I can. I can put down some food. He's got game left side will figure this out. We'll figure this out. Well, you know what we do it we for the football pool, basketball pool, if we have it again, if we did that, Jeff Kings. Okay, so truck question, the true question,
back to the most Okay, it was all right. Brian Williams. Yeah, Brian for being could run the court, could throw the ball, could catch it everything. Yeah, you know what I'm I can say, but you never would have gained. I wouldn't have guessed him because he was here for so short a time. He doesn't he's not burned into my memory of Arizona basketball teams. And then you think when he wants to play, he was unbelievable when he did want to play. It was the Alabama game.
He was one of the scariest dudes ever ever had to deal with on in the program because you just have to look at you because I still I you know, I've told you this story a million times of walking into the locker room after they lost to Alabama in the in the second round and he's sitting in a chair and he slumped in his chair and he's looking at me. I'm not going over there. Hey, we got a calling over there, We've got to call very quick higher on the air and on the ball.
We have to make it quick about thirty seconds. Okay, hey, Jay, you can be pooh poohing the girls for losing last night and then say everything is a okay with the man. You not do that, thanks. Girls have been playing under adversity all dang season. Last night they had two players that had fouled out. I think they had. They were fouled out for both overtimes. YEP. I just want to say my piece. Hey, Steve is a hater. Steve is a hater. Jay, not you.
Don You called yesterday to think to correct him, right? I think it was. Don See I say this what you're saying? He says, I don't listen to you. Don He listens to you. Thank you very much, Thank you. Don have a good weekend. Have a good weekend, guys. All right, this is fun. Don's the one that correct you. I like you. Good day today. Takes that to Bobby Robbins.
Be sure if you missed it and you're uh, you can catch doctor Robbins on the pick up the podcast on the on the iHeart website, Spotify or Apple Podcasts will put that up about an hour so after the after the show tonight. Thanks to Bruce Pascal for giving us some time. He's a busy guy. And we'll cover the Oregon game and Arizona Senior Day on Monday, and uh the women will be getting ready for the Pac Off tournament, so uh it'll be should be fun. So anyways, thanks for being here.
Talk to you on Monday.
