Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez. They have their Eye on the Ball on tucsaon Sports Stage Chef Fox Sports fourteen fifty streaming live on the IHG Radio wap, Hey, welcome back to my iying the ball hero Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jacob Zewis. Now we have one with breaking news,

Eye on the ball, Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Alrighty, So with some NFL news to start off, the Kansas City Chief Vice President Rick Burkeholder gave a positive update on BJ Thompson, who went into suffering seizars and cardiac arrest Thursday while in his special Teams meeting. But he's awake, he's doing good and responding well to everything. That's just crazy, you

know, when an athlete like that, he's only twenty five. I can't imagine, you know, what's going on with your body that that happened. Just announced recently, Randy Gregory issuing the NFL and the Denver Broncos claiming discrimination over being fined over five hundred k for taking medication containing th HC for disabilities during his brief time in Denver. See what happens with that. Uh, I don't know. I mean there, I don't know. I'm not I

guess I shouldn't even say anything because I don't know to the NBA. Yeah, last night, the first game of the Finals took place. The Celtics put a pretty good beat down on the Dallas Mavericks for Game one. They did and uh and uh, I got see you can thank me for you know, getting you some some dough on. No, no, I'm never gonna do that. I had this victory a long time ago if I took got it with Chris, so I'm happy about that. No, No, don't, don't. Don't tempt faith and screw with me all the time.

Though there's got a few with a few more games left, there is there is I would rather you go the other way. I'm okay. Well, I'll just tell you right now, I'm seriously considering taking Dallas Dallas money line at the next game. In the next game, go right ahead. I'm okay with it all right. With the Lakers head coaching position open, they're looking at possibly taking down Hurly as the top candidate from the Yukon Huskies.

Well, they had their meeting today. Yep, I think just thing just rolled up on social media that he he's expected to be offered one hundred million dollars over eight years. I think he's making what is he making now? Five five? And they just re up to last year. I just renewed him. At what point in people's lives and I think we've had a discussion before. Do you say that money is the money doesn't matter, it's not

an issue because you already have a boatload already. Well, certainly, if you're making five million a year, you've made, you've made and are making plenty of money, and and you're comfortable at what you do and very good

at what you do. So regardless of what, whther it's one hundred million dollars or eighty million dollars or whatever the million dollars is, you know, in the end, Bobby heard is gonna have to be comfortable with if he decides to take this job, that he's gonna be comfortable with living in LA and all that comes with it. There's the question, you know, and and not just living in LA but having that job and all that comes with it, right, and all that comes in Now he has said that,

you know, he does aspire to coach in the NBA, and so if they you know, if you're gonna coach in the NBA and you get to leap right up to the Lakers, you know, you don't have to go coach the Wizards or you know, some scrubby team that you know, the Sacramento Kings or whatever, then why wouldn't you? The reason is Michael Michael Magic Johnson is not coming through those doors. Is Louel Cinder and and Lebron. Lebron doesn't have a lot of time left. No, I don't know.

I don't know. If I and everybody talks about the challenge of the next thing, sometimes it's just leave well enough alone and continue to be good at what you do. But again, you know, with with where he is, you know his choice will ultimately be about more than the money. You would think if he's a smart guy. Well if well, I guess he's married, right, Yes, this ain't this anty decision, but himself it's not. And she is from His wife is from Kenneticut, So she's

from there, you know. I mean he said that at the you know, at the at the final four. You know, if he does do something that you know he's got to. He's got to check with his wife first, so we'll see, you know, I for one, would be interested to see what he could do with the Lakers, said, do you do you want him to go to the Lakers? I think he has a chance to be the next coach K of this generation, right, That's why I personally want to see him at he can keep it up, maybe even

go for the three p Right now, who is next coach K? I have my name, Tommy Lloyd. I don't know just who Bill so Ugh? Is there anything even close? Yeah? Yeah, he's won a bun, but he's just not He's a freaking cheater. He's not that guy though. Yeah, it is what it is. I mean, this is college basketball. The thing about it with him and he talked about this, I don't say a lot, Jay, because you were in the room, when I was in the room when he talked about the NIL stuff and having to

deal with that crap now. Yeah, And and I think your point with Ariema said that, yeah he's coaching pros. They're all coaching pros now, and why not just coach pros and deal with it. I still don't say that. And maybe it's a question to be have with Brennan or Tommy just to get a quote. And how how how is that going to be? How is that now because they're doing it now because they're paying the kids to

get the point of your point across. As a coach, you gotta run faster, play harder, YadA YadA, and the coaches not that the players don't do this to get them to do that for the check cashing. Yeah, does that make sense? It makes total sense, Steve. It changes the dynamic for sure. Yeah, completely. Yeah. When before you had the bench and you had the thing and you had to, you know, to get them to play hard. Now they don't care. On the bench,

the chicks are still checks are cashing. You know, maybe I'm looking at it wrong. Well, well, here here's the thing. The great athletes, the guys who are athletes, they'll they'll play for sure a check or no check, and they're going to give you their best, regardless of whether they're making ten thousand or a million dollars. But there are going to be some out there who are in it for the check, right, and

you're only going to get as much as the check will will dictate. There are going to be some guys like that there are guys like that in the pros. Right if they're not getting paid, they're not playing right. Right.

So now that that whole dynamic comes to the college level, which it's gonna be interesting to see how coaches at the college level deal with that when they've never had to deal with that, you know, and it may be that you may maybe, you know, when when when schools, now for the big programs, are hiring a new coach, they might go get a pro coach who's dealt with this and who has been able to handle you know, the the the egos and the dynamics of of of coaching players who think

they're pros because you know what, an eighteen year old making a half a million dollars a year is a scary sounding no coaching situation. But in my world, I've done for a long time and you've done it, you know, for some time. There's fewer people in this world that have bigger egos than coaches at this level on the next because they're the next guys who are going to coach the guys uh, the adans and bla blah blah blah. I can get them to change. I can make it happen. But and

guess what happens. It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. And I mean I think, you know, there were some athletes, Steve who, even before they were making this kind of money, uh you know, thought they were all that in a bag of chips again you know, uh uh yes, uh you know. Mario Bates came up, you know, his name,

came out to call. And I just remember chasing Michael Baits around and he's a you know, an eighteen year old kid who just had this stride and just this approach that you know, and I'm an adult chasing him around to find out where he's going to go to school. And he was kind of like, I'm big stuff and you're not, you know, and and that's you know, and that's how so many you know, so they were. There were kids. There were kids like that even before this money is

sure of course, well that's hell almost said words. I know those dudes, I know those as I played with those dudes. Their poop doesn't stink, yeah, or they think it does, think it any Eventually you get there and go, god, it sounds really bad. All right, Sorry about that? Okay? Good? So for the Spring Football League. They're having their semifinals this weekend. The Panthers play the Stallions on Saturday and then the BrahMos play the battle Hawks on Sunday. All right, we don't know.

I don't think any Arizona guys are so Scooby right, used to be on the stand Scooby retired Lorenzo Burns, former cornerback. He was in the really more of the Kevin someone years. He's on the Stallions too. Okay, Yeah, so tho Stallions. Yesterday, the Oklahoma Sooners repeated as softball champions, their fourth in a row. Pete, Yeah, they were just good. Did you see. I saw a lot of that game just out of curiosity. These girls are just fantastic. I mean it's hard to beat

them. Yeah, I mean, Texas was a number one in the country and Okla and they're just so good. And I'm just trying to remember seeing how the game has changed, because you know, we saw the Arizona softball team dominate during their time. It's not like this though, this is different. It was different. Yeah, I didn't watch it. It's just so they're just so good. Yeah, I you know, I was rooting against

him just because I root against heavy favorites like that. I know they were the two seed and Texas was the one seed, but yeah, I had to think going in that oklahom was gonna win this thing, and they did for sure. Last thing I got Team US a beat cricket powerhouse Pakistan in the Historic World Cup. Yeah. I just thought that was a little bit at least their first year. So beat the quote unquote powerhouse. You got all these you got all these people on social media saying the United States is

now a cricket power Do you understand? Have you ever watched the cricket match? You know what it works or what it is not at all. I just know that Team USA be Pakistan, and I think a bunch of the team, a bunch of the players on the US team are of Pakistani origin. So but it's it's funny that people are like claiming, Okay, we're the power now and in cricket. It was all done the cheek, of course, of course, okay, anything else. Yeah, you know,

I came across this just a little bit ago. Do you do you get you get the Sunday Ticket? You know, well, I've been a Sunday Ticket subscribers since from the get go. Apparently there was an anti trust lawsuit out there against the NFL and Direct TV. And the reason this is news is because the class action lawsuit has been certified now by a California judge. So it really it doesn't get to this point unless there's a reasonable chance that

there's there's something to this. But Direct TV and the NFL are being sued saying that they violated an anti trust laws because you had to buy this Sunday ticket package to see games out of your market, and in addition that it was at a very inflated price, so that you know, we were paying more than we should have been, and that a lot of this stuff should have been available either at a lesser price or just in general. How much was it? How much is the lawsuit? How much is the ticket?

Sunday ticket it runs? I think it runs about four hundred bucks three four hundred bucks a year? And yours? What was your purpose of getting to be able to see any game I want to see? But okay, so you didn't game day? What's what's the game day? You're thinking? You're thinking of red zone? No, because that's what I watch. I watch, which is that's why everyone's a d D and have so many things. But was the other one the other one's game day or because the NFL has

its own game choice. I don't know what that's it Sunday Ticket. But you can watch game, you can watch you can watch the actual games with Sunday Ticket. When you watch games, not these ones are are highlights like red the Red Zone right, Oh no, this is different. This is this is my point. This is Sunday Ticket that comes with Red Zone. You pay four hundred dollars to watch any game you want. You'll be able to watch any game? How much can you adopt me? That's why?

Well I split it, split it with the Okay, the reason I say is you can watch Red Zone and see games whenever they're being played. You know what, Well for I, I mean I I just love having a choice to be whatever. Again I want to watch and so now, And I mean I subscribe to it from the very beginning. And I used to be like one hundred and twenty bucks or whatever, and the price kept going

up. I think this last year is four hundred dollars, which carded me to split with be like a seven point one billion dollar seven they're seeking seven point one billion dollars in damages, and so you know, it could be I whether or not this goes through, it's just that it's it's reached a point that now it's serious. Uh. You know, lawsuits like this,

it takes a long time for them to process through. And so now it's gotten to the point where the class action has been certified and now it's actually in litigation. It looks like a lot of times these things get settled and you know, somebody like me who's had who's had you know, Sunday ticket from day one, might get one hundred and fifty bucks or something like that.

But it's interesting, what what what these days try to do is to fix this so that going forward, you know, whether trying to just get the price reduced or get it Sunday ticket or Sunday ticket type thing be free, you know, where everybody, wherever you live, you get to watch whatever game you need. I think that's ultimately the goal of this, not so much to get all this money and pass it out to all these people who have had Sunday ticket all this time. I love Sunday ticket. I

do. I can't watch I watch red Zone sometimes, but I'm like it's just too much going on now. I will say that in the move to YouTube this last year, you can put like four screens and watch for it. I really like that. I saw the ad yesterday. I gotta give me. That's because the good Day is used to be a picture. Yeah see, but I split it because you can have it on two places at one time, two different plays at one time. So I split it with my brother, so he gets to watch it, I get to watch and

then you can watch it anywhere. Real quick, before we leave here, breaking news, I guess three Arizona baseball players have gone into the transfer portal, Brendan Rodgers, Kyle Huff and Nico Newman. I take a quick guess of how many people are in the baseball portal right now, already fifteen hundred. Crazy. How did these guys go? This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez. Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to IE on the Ball here on Fox Sports Fortune and fifty. I'm Steve. Here's Jay got one with us. Now we have former intern de Sten Shiver from fan Do TV her and her fans. I guess behind her making all

that noise. Hey guys, Hey, you ready for tomorrow? I think though it's a good, good field of horses. I think we're gonna have some really good racing on Bellmonts take they how much does the shorter distance affect this race? Can can you say that? I think it impacts it pretty significantly. I mean, the Belmont has been running a mile and a half and we've called it the Test of the Champions for a reason. It being run at only a mile and a quarter I think makes it definitely not as

tough. And I think the other thing the factor in it's not being run at Belmont Park. It's being run at Saratoga because Belmont is under construction right now and will be for the next couple of years. So the Belmont is going to be running a mile in a quarter for the next couple of years. And I think this year it makes a big impact for one horse in particular, that's Sierra Leone, who just feels and looks like he wants more

ground. He always looks like he's grinding for more and is reaching for more, and I was really excited to see him running a mile and a half. And then I remember that Belmont parkas clubs said, because of the way that Saratoga is configured, they can only run at a mile and a quarter. Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but that's who I'm going with. Yeah, Sierra Leone will be my top selection in the Belmont. I think he is the top three year old in the country right now. He

has shown that I talked about him for the Derby. He can overcome adversity, he can overcome post physician or his own antics. He is a horse that knows his job and loves to run. Now, the thing is the note about sier Leon is he does have a jockey change coming into this race. His normal jockey has been Tyler Gaflio, but he is going to get flabby and proud aboard who's a world class jockey and in general has more experience

in top level racist. Kyler is fantastic, he knows the horse really well, but Chad Brown just felt that he wanted a little bit more of aggressive rider on him. He's also getting a bit changed. So the bit that he was originally had was broken in the middle like a hinge, And so when you go to pull on one side to kind of direct a horse, it really doesn't do a whole lot to pull their entire body one way.

The now bit that he's got in is a bar all the way across, so when you go to pull on one side, it helps readjust his entire body over and that's to help with the lugging in that we saw during the derby where you and Forever Young were definitely rubbing up against each other. So ideally that's to help teach him really straight and very focused so that he doesn't lug in and lose more difference. So let me ask you real quick,

why is Bob Beffert not running Moose? So my understanding is because Mouse had his fever in the Freakness, he didn't feel that he was going to be back in time and ready and fit to be able to run in the Belmont, horses that get fevers, even if they go away after twenty four hours, it's usually an indication that something else, potentially more serious can be wrong.

So it's better just to make sure they have all the proper time off so that they can get the Karen attention that they need so that they can come back at their best. Okay, so you've got You've got Si Sierra Leone as your as your favorite? Uh the Kentucky Derby Winter Misstic Dan is the next favorite. Where does where does Mystic dan sit for you. You know, I think miss MiG dan is right up with there. I think I would love to see them run one two if miss mc dan want to

win. However, the last time at Kentucky Derby horse won the Belmont was your two triple Crown winners and justify an American Barah. However, that was again at that mile and a half, so there's a little bit of a bias. Obviously, he's proven at a mile in the Quarterer having won the Kentucky Derby, and there's nothing I can take away from that that was wrong with his breaking his run. He got the same trip that he did in

the Derby. It was that rail trip he staves ground. It was just there was another horse out in front that was just faster than him that day. That was what it came down to. But I think missus Dan, you know, having beat Sierra Leone already once does play to his favor.

I think he did that rail trip again after drawing the three hole, and he just he runs his race and it looks like it could be a little sloppy against tomorrow, which I think again places who sees the graves benefit as he is by arrogate and Airgates loves the slot and that the dance proven that he loves running in the slop. Pierre Leone doesn't seem to be affected by track conditions. So those are just kind of things that I look for when

handicapping a race. So what's your third horse? You know, the third horse. I've gone back and forth on who I throw in mind Frame. I've gone back and forth between the ten mind Frame and the one sees. The Gray sees the gray haven't already been proven. The coach see way and Lucas is not afraid to run a horse back on a short layoff, especially if they've come out of the race. We all of which he's the Gray

has he's They've put videos up of him on Twitter. He's been very funky, just very full of energy and looks like he's been training really well. And again he came out and won the Breakness by two and a half length after stepping up from a mile from the Pat Day Mile race, which was run out of mile at Churchill on Derby Day, to then come back two

weeks later in the Freakness. The only thing that I'm like teetering on with mind Frame is he is a full speed horse, so I think it's very likely that they could send him out and make him run with he's the gray to push the pace factor. He has not been tried in stakes company before, and he's his longest race is he's run was a mile and a the Key, so it's very new territory for him. However, he does have a lot of connections backing him, being a Tod Fletcher trainee. I read

our keys as a board. We're Pulley stable zone. However, in the last twenty years, a Belmont winner that has won the Belmont has prepped him some court of stake race, whether a lifted shake or a grated steak, or has come out of the Kentucky Derby race in some way, shape or form. So I mean that's kind of my reservation with him, and the fact that he's on the outside. I feel like you have to go interesting.

Well, all right, now give us a long shot. You know, one of the longer shots that you think, okay, this one could slip in if certain things happened. Is the five Entiuitarian, also a top platter training. He comes out of the Great three Peter Pan. He was an upset winner that day at about five to one. He was. He won by about three quarters of a length. He put up a really good speed Buyer speed figure again, showed early speed and ran really evenly. Sorry,

there's a race going on in the background. Everybody's really excited. But he's my kind of long shot. That peter Pan has been known to be a just our listeners know you're you're none and it went to a gonna have to have the dump button going on like raere or four times. Well wait, well, let let our listeners know you're at san Anita, right That's where you are right now. I am out of the track right now at Santanita. I've been reporting all afternoon, so this is definitely another little switch

up for me. I was reporting before this and I'm reporting after this, right. But you know, long shot Antiquitarium, the five came out of the peter Pan. In the last ten years, three out of the ten Velmont winners have come out of the peter Pan. And trusting that way, it gave us a Belmont winner at Archangelo last year with Jenny anthon Ucci, who became the first female trainer to win the Velmont. So I think he's

very live in here. This field I think has a lot of live runners, and we could very well see an upset, especially with Sera Leone going off as such short of a price as of nine to five morning my favorite. So let me ask you, on a day like tomorrow, do you guys benefit at San Anita for the big race day. I don't know how much we would benefit out here at Santanita, to be honest, because I don't think I spent Velmont Day out here. I do know that they are

carting more racist tomorrow to keep people out here. And it's the misphere a good horse racing across the country and come out to the races and you can watch it here. You can watch our racing. We definitely did that for the Derby, they did it for the Prexis. So there's definitely a really good atmosphere around racing that people should want to be around it on these big days, no matter where they are around the country. So, you know, we've there's been a lot of word about, you know, the three

races and spreading them out a little bit more and stuff like that. You're kind of making it easier, which to me is goes against the whole idea of the Triple Crown. But you know, what are your what are your thoughts on that? Because to me, you know, again I'm a purist on most things right on whatever sport. What do you think about that?

On both sides, I will play devil's advocate. I understand that everyone wants to do it for the safety hum well being of the horses and the animals, to stretch it out, give them more time to rest, maybe help build field size in that way. But also the Triple Crown was made to be hard. It's made to test these three year olds and really push them to the limits that they can run at right, and so keeping them closer together. Some have said, oh, maybe we should do one per month.

One in May, one in June, one is July. But then I feel like it stretches out too far and people tend to lose interest. Like keeping them all really close together, you ghet people to stay interested in each and every race, and when you know it is difficult to come back in two weeks, any trainer will tell you that, however, the good ones will go. You know, if your horses right, your horse is right, and they're they're gonna run their race. So I don't want to

see the Triple crown changed in my lifetime. I have enjoyed seeing, you know, two triple Crown winners actually come out in American Pharaoh and justify both being Bob Baffert trainees. But you know it can be done, it has happened. I would like to see another triple Crown winner in my lifetime with

the schedule that they currently have. Well remember two three No No One five years ago, six years ago, I can't remember the team, the horse that won the first leg and the second leg, and then a fresh horse came in and a third leg and won the race, and everybody who was up in arms. Those are the rules, the right rules. And the trainer of the possible triple Crown winner was it's not fair. Guess what He's

been unfair for years. You know, I've said life is fair. Sometimes things happened, and you know, if you get beat at the wire by a nose, you get beat with wire by a nose. Pierre Leone has run some of his best races by getting by the combined and his two losses. So sometimes you just get on the wrong end of the nose box. So also on that note, mystic Dan is the only horse in this race that is in there that's been in all three of these races, right,

isn't it that? Coct So is that? And then I feel like that's a really big test for him. It's how far he's come as a three year old, simply because back in his two year old year, they did run him back two weeks after one race, but he was doing something different in each time where he was start going around one turn and then they went him around two turns in his next race. This time around in the Derby,

you know, he was shortening up in distance. And Kenyan Peakee has and extremely honest and straightforward about his preparation that he's done with this horse. And you know he said right along as the horses and ride and he's a training well, if he's not eating the way he should, we're gonna pull him. We're gonna do what's best for him and we will rest him. And he went into the previous he was training really well. He was cleaning

out his speed bucket and he was doing everything right. And he's doing it again coming into this race. He's doing everything right. He is he is again licking his food bucket clean. And he looks really great out on the training track. So are you having fun doing this stuff? I am enjoying doing this. I enjoy watching the races. I enjoy talking to people about this. I enjoy watching other people talk about this so I can have all

the information. It's part of the reason I became a journalist, because everybody has a story to tell. Whether how big or house small is up to them, but it is important tell tell us a little bit about that work that you're doing, because sometimes we see you, there's clips of you doing interviews on social media and whatnot. What is your job and tail as far as that goes, what are you doing out there? Well, I do a little bit of everything, Jay. So my main job that I was

originally hired for. My job title of Partner Production Supervisor. So I work a lot with our sales and marketing team, with our production team, with our talent team, and anything that we run on the network for sportsbook, Casino, FanDuel, racing offers that air need to be clipped, and Purple Performance. I'm in charge of sending out those scripts that once they're handed off

to me. Our sales elements where we have sponsored items around races. It's my job to get that stuff from marketing and take it to production and then see it executed, mark it down, and then tally how much we do each month. So it's anything from that to sending out on site for almost to make sure that people know where we are, to the most recent thing that's been added are these element trackers, so every backtrack, data, point, pedigree note, anything that you see that goes on the screen, I

have probably had my hand involved in some way of being involved. And then on top of that, I've gotten the opportunity to expand my talent career, my interviewing and doing all that fun stuff on social media and doing some reporting when they need someone out there at the Southern California tracks and it's it's been a blast, and she's trying to avoid the jockey's hitting on her. They

tend to be flirt. Did you really just say telling the truth? That sounds like if you have watched any of the videos, you know what the truth is. I don't know whether to say good for you or shame on them. I don't know, maybe a little yeah, but it sounds it sounds like like a lot of work. I mean, it's it's uh. I mean, like I all that you said, I'm like, I don't know what you're you know, how you manage all that, all that you know in the course of a day. It's actually a little easier than you

would think. It does sound like a lot, and there are some days that it is a lot. But I do love what I'm doing. I do love the opportunities that I've been able to get through fan duel and more opportunities to come. Well, good for you, Good for you, this is great, thanks to you. Okay, so maybe twenty eight. That's two more. Yeah, okay, So that's how it was

twenty one or eleven when you're talking about it named twenty seven. Now, tuc Son's kind of gotten a bigger hung yeah, a little bit, a little bit over time, over time. You know, it's funny because the and the thing is that the size of the schools now, you know, the schools that are big are around the outskirts of the city, so there were I think there were I want to say seven or eight, seven hundred six six for seven hundred. In my graduating class, we were close to

three thousand kids in our school. And now it's like, you know, two hundred or three hundred university University. How big was your class? I probably couldn't remember. I know it was pretty big. Okay, Yeah, what University high is like the smart the smart kid public school. He's you must be smart, pretty smart? What the hell you do want to hear? Hey, it's the smartest thing he's ever done. Just just as she's she's working for for fan duel over there and you know, making a fortune

while we're sitting here doing this for nothing. I know you're I know you're on pins and needles about this, Steve, But it's a Dodgers Yankeesters Zeros are on the top of the third So I knew you wanted to know those pins and needles really do her? Yeah? Hey, uh Tiascar Hernandez made a nice play on a bother but it was going to be off the fence. But other than that, it's been uneventful in the first couple of you

know what started this week to College World Series. It did North Carolina facing still it's still the super Regionals. Well that's that's why super Region they return to place this weekend. Well, I just thought that West Virginia, who won the the Tucson Regional, is up on North Carolina at North Carolina, right, right, this was the regional that the everyone here, n I

should say everyone a few of the obnoxious ones we're talking about. Oh, this is l s U versus Arizona in the Yeah, that obviously never materials, never materialized exactly. So yeah, you've got you've got West Virginia at North Carolina. So I think he hit a two run homer. Was the two run homer or solo homer, But they're up, so okay, but you know, uh, well well you know we're I mentioned we're trying to get Roxy Bernstein on the show, and he's on his he's covering the Kentucky

Super Regional. So that's why he couldn't come on this week. Okay. Yeah, So there'll be busy. There's a lot of the guys from this coast, this side of the world doing some games. There's anything in the West Oregon State, where state at home? They don't know that they're at home. You know, everyone, this is a no brainer comment to everyone talks about East Coast bias, Midwest cost whatever it is. There are very few good colleges or good athletic colleges in the West. Well there's just not

Well there's some good ones, Steve. But the thing is that you go into that, you go into the NCAA tournament, and you have to go play at somebody else's I'm talking in football, basketball, all of them. You know, come on, we're on this side of the world. We're kind of limited this side of Texas probably where you know, you have the Oregon, you have Washington, you have there all the most some of the top five in the packed Pac twelve. Yeah, and then you have an

occasional Mountain West team. But other than that, you have Gonzaga and basketball. You know what I'm saying, there's a very maybe selection in fifteen. Am I wrong? Where you have a lot of teams out there? Because there's a lot of teams out there. Let's say here, you look at this, you know you got you got Oregon is a Texas A and M they're in They're in the super regional. Then you've got Oregon State is at

Kentucky. It's just, you know, with the way the thing is set up, you know, these the West teams always have to go on the road. Sure, once you get into the tournament like this, and that's a bunch of bull crap. Well, if if Arizona, if the PAC twelve was better or perceive to be better, Look how many teams are left from the West. Those two? Okay, but again, if Arizona had

won its regional, they would have had to go to North Carolina. Well there were sixteen, I know, But the point, but the point being that Arizona promptly shouldn't have been a thirteen seat. They should have been, you know, a top eight seat because they won the PAC twelve and they were I don't know about that. They lost too straight and that there's a thirteen I get it, Steve. Teams lose, you know once you get in anything. But they were better than a thirteen seed. They didn't go

in. Of course, they showed that by winning the league. They didn't show it last week, but they showed it during the season. They won one of the five major conferences conference tournament and and the regular season. How do you not how do you not say they were not one of the best day, I'm not disagreeing with you and finished after last week's performance, there was a lot of people that said they shouldn't even deserve to be Well, that's a bunch of bull crap too. Well everybody, like we say,

there's no right or wrong answer, but no, mine's mine's right. The proof they did not play well. They played terrible, and that's what we have they but other teams play terrible too, even even when their top ranked. You know, Purdue losing them to a sixteen seed in basketball, you're gonna tell me they didn't deserve to be a number one seed. Where I'm going is that? Is that the favoritism, the bias towards the teams in the South, in the East, it works against the teams in the West.

It just doesn't. If you're telling me that that's not a thing, I think youre No, no, no, that's a thing. But in this case, I don't think it's a thing. Did you pay attention to baseball with Arizona? Yeah? Did they deserve to be uh in the top sixteen? I believe were they seated in the right spot. I believe so in the right spots should have been higher. I don't think so. I think they were me too, they were perfect me too, because if you're

at thirteen, you should still win. You're you're I get it. So they didn't. They didn't play. Look, I'm not debating. They did not play. They did not play like even the thirteen seed in the tournament. My point, p you didn't know that going in that they were going to play like that. Okay, you did not know that. To me, they were They won one of the five power conferences, won the conference, and won the tournament. They should have been one of the top eight

seeds in I don't tournament. I don't know about that. I don't know about that. If anybody wants to call, please and join in and save me or save Jy, because I don't. I don't truly believe that because they there was some thought that they should not even have deserved to be in the top sixteen team for whatever that So I understand that. I'm just saying

that. It's like, you know, it's just like Steve that that you know, these teams that come out here and win, you know, especially in the PAC twelve when their confidence don't get the respect that a third place team in one of the other league's gains. I don't disagree with that. I think you know what we'll eventually do is we'll have Andy Lopus, and I think he'll agree with you for that point. I don't disagree with you on that point. But this specific point with Arizona being at thirteen or you

said an eight, I don't see that. We'll ask somebody who would know to see if that's true, if that should be. I don't think that's true. I just don't think there is enough there was enough value put on Arizona to have done what they did in the regular see a record, what was the record. They didn't have a great year. They just didn't. But they won their they won a power conference. But you also have to look at the body of work before the conference started it. But again,

they don't put any value to what you do to win a championship. Yes, okay, and I say that purposely like that because yeah, okay, maybe, but still they didn't have a great They were thirty one and twenty one. I can't remember that they were like thirty seven and twenty two or something like that. J but they but again, you know, Kentucky didn't win its league, Tennessee didn't win it's you know, but that's a tough league. The Pac twel is a tough en. Here help me here one.

I think you're gonna see this a lot in college football with the expansion. You're gonna get a Big twelve champion and they're saying Kansas is the favorite now and then you're gonna have a Georgia who might lose in the SEC championship. They're a fifth seed. You know, they're more than likely gonna be better than Kansas. But Kansas is nothing's fair. I hear. I know, I know what you're saying, and you're I said that kind of right,

because you're right. Look, I look, I was a proponent with with uh you know, when they were talking about expanding the the college football playoff, and even before I was a believer that, you know, when when there's four teams that if you didn't win your league, you should not

be in the playoffs. That right when there were there were only four spots, five conference champions and then there would be a team in there that didn't win its conference championship would get in the would get in the damn playoffs. I you know, I'm just somebody that says, if you're gonna have conferences

and you're gonna win your conference, you should get something for that. And and you know, and there's too many people out there that are east of the Mississippi that don't believe in that because they want, you know, they want Georgia and Alabama in the playoffs every year when one of them did not win their league. There's a built in bias with everything. And I don't

do agree that that's happened. And in fact, I just said, there's very few Western Coast Conference games or West Coast teams that are valid to get in because there's just a few of them. But see, and it was always like that, even people even when the Pac twelve was tough and PRACT ten was tough and there still wouldn't get as many teams as the SEC or

or whoever else because because of this bias that continues today. That's why that's one of the reasons I'm happy about being in the Big twelve, because I'm hoping some of that bias goes away because we're not in the Pac twelve anymore.

You know, you're gonna have to see their games because they're gonna play at times that you have to see them, and they're gonna play these teams that other that the other people that the media and and and committees and whatnot on the East are gonna have to see him playing now and have to recognize you be prepared for being biased. But going back, going back to why Michael Penix did not win the Heisman Trophy because not enough people saw him,

I don't. I don't disagree with that, and I and I I've honestly said that there is a East Coast bias because of the time difference in this case, not so much with baseball not who else are these guys in Oregon State probably should have should have been a host, Have they been better or whatever? They were probably the best team in the league in the Pac twelve, but it was they they did the league and arizonly been the top thirteen.

They were probably perfect perfectly placed, and they just didn't play well last week, right, Yeah, no, they they well I don't think they're perfectly placed, but they didn't play well, you know, you know, I mean, I I agree with that, Steve. They didn't show that they were any good. You know, they didn't show that they deserved better than than what they got there in their in terms of their seating, no doubt, but I'm not I don't dispute that for a second. I mean,

I'd be an idiot to say otherwise. My point is is that for what they achieved during the season by winning their conference and the conference tournament, they shouldn have been They shouldn't have been in the second half of the Sea is sure theory applied for college basketball as well. Given let me tell you

something, there's a degree there's there's a degree of bias for Arizona. They give Arizona more of a leeway for them, even though they're There have been times that that that the nineteen ninety seventh season, I didn't think they deserved a four seed, and they got what they got, and that's what they got, and they played their heads right. I thought they I thought they should have been a six or seven. They were. They were the fifth

place team in the league. What was Arizona this year? Basketball? Six two? There were two two and they've been highly That was fine, and they didn't That was right right, That was right where they were seeded, right where they need I did. I was perfectly fine, even the last two years. So they've been kind of biased to the benefit of they have. They have been. But but think about that time that Washington won the PAC twelve and they were like an eight seed, and they were and they

were and they were the only I think they were one. Yeah, in basketball, one or two teams that you got in the league and the champions like a seven or an eight seed. Come on, no, what happens. I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm thinking in this this instance specifically, Arizona was not overseated. But you're you're basing it on how they ended up

playing. Erase how they played, that's how the only erase how they played in the in the in the regional race, how they played in the regional as a PAC ten conference and tournament champion going in, shouldn't they have been one of the top eight seeds in the country. I know, aren't your questions easily know? Because they got exactly where they should have been placed because of that. Had they not been, had they not been champions, they

would have been some other set of number two somewhere. That's fine, they were perfectly placed. That would have been fine, one agree with me. No one's called in to agree with me. This is this is what I put up with Monday through Thursday. Even you, I understand totally what you're saying. You have I know what I'm saying. So I do understand what you're saying. And I'm telling you I think you're wrong. I know exactly what you're saying. I'm not wrong. Are you wrong? I'm never wrong?

You must be hispanic? Well one of us is wrong in this room. Okay, Amy me, I see what you're saying. Jay, It's full of craft. You're funny. You're funny.
