This is II on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez. Sound Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Subscribe now to the podcast on the iHeartRadio while just Surgery. I on the Ball. Hey, welcome back, joining the ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Vsjay. Now we have Goodie two Shoes Jue with breaking news the ball, Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Well, happy Friday. It went out there yours directly, mister Shoes.

Starting off breaking news with some ESPN report, Uh with about dig Vitel. Oh, Yeah, he announced Friday that he'll be having surgery to remove cancer from his neck. Right, So best goes out to him. He's been struggling with and he thought he was he thought he was clear just like a month ago or so, said he was clear of it, and now they've detected it back again. I ain't the lyft nodes or something like that. So, uh, you know, whether you like him or don't like

if you don't wish this on him, So good luck to him. In the NBA. Earlier this morning, the Dallas Mavericks traded away shooting guard Tim Hardaway Junior and some extra stuff to the Detroit Pistons for Quentin Grimes shooting guard like Tim Hardaway junior and a bag of balls or what do you think some some draft picks? Second round draft picks. That's some extra stuff. I'm

like, okay, what does that mean? All right? And then just popping up about a couple of minutes ago, the Atlanta Hawks are trading away de Jonte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans, uh for Larry Nance junior and some uh there, I think they're actually receiving some also some draft picks as

well. Yeah, yeah, I think that one just came across and there's a lot of you know, people were saying already good for both teams, right, I mean I wouldn't know, but sounds like an okay thing, you know, that's what That's what those are supposed to be, right, nobody's supposed to be, you know, losing losing a trade like that.

So yeah, and you see how that how that works out. From the twenty twenty four year euro Tournament, Uh, the Georgia national team be Portugal into two to one game and doing so, the team received ten million dollars from the ex Prime Minister and they can double it with the win, I believe tomorrow. So think they play Spain or somebody that is one of the favorites. That's a million dollars a player or something like that. Yeah, whoa god? That what good for them? I guess I'm speechless on that.

I mean the next morning with an extra page. Yeah, you win a gaming, you get a half a million bucks or whatever. The number I mean what there's maybe twenty five twenty twenty five guys on a soccer team. Yeah, I think so, yeah number Wow, they just get to divvy it up. I believe. So, man, party hard, let's go. They got some extra motivation. Let's go to a nicer Sundays game too. Holy cow? All right, very cool to the NFL. The rules. NFL violated the anti trust laws and the Sunday and yeah, we

talked about that yesterday. I ranted on it. Yeah, so has a long time. Yeah Sunday ticket subscriber. I go for the people. You know, they fought for it. So yeah, but it's again, it's a long way from anybody getting anything. It's just years away from but still, you know, the it's the it's the NFL getting called out for being budheads to college football a Cincinnati football star Dante corleone UH looking there were He's been looked at as an NFL prospect highly highly looked at highly. He's out

indefinitely with blood clots. He was UH hospitalized you in fourteenth after complaining with chest discomfort and shortness of breath and the that the school released in a UH statement on Friday. But he's home recovering with no time to but with his position defensive defensive linement for Cincinnati. God, you know, that's man. You work all your life to do, you know, to put yourself in that position and then something like that he rails you. That's sad. He

said. He does hope to come back, but he just doesn't know whether it when timetable is for that for what that would be. But again best goes out to him and his family. Speedy recovery came out yesterday. But the Notre Dame in Michigan state football programs are going to be redoing their rivalry with the games announced for the twenty twenty six and twenty twenty seven football season. Cool twenty twenty six, UH, the Spartan will travel of South Bend

and then the next year the Irish will go to east Land season. All right, that'll be fun. You know those I'm like Notre Dame in Michigan used to play every year. Now they don't. It's like, come on, man, play those games. Oh I my hope with the new leagues, right because you see all these games now with you got Oregon. You know Oregon, who's gonna have to play you know how State in Michigan.

Still there's a lot more really good games that we're gonna see. But with the playoff now, you know, losing a non conference game to a really good team, you're not risking that anymore, right, you know, losing that out of the playoff because you know, when there were only four spots, you didn't want to be lose. You know, you're gonna have to be undefeated or have one loss, and so you would play three teams that

you know who's asked you could kick. I'm hoping that now with the automatic bids and that kind of stuff, that some of these games like Texas plays Michigan this year, Notre Dame plays Texas, A and M to open the season, Georgia plays Clemson to open the season, that will see more games like that because losing a game like that no longer means you're out of the national championship. So I hope we see a lot more of that to the

Arizona Softball World. They announced today the edition of Casher Slash utility player Sidney Stewart, a junior transfer from Washington. That's official now. During her two seasons at Washington, she totaled ninety one games, played ten doubles, seven home runs, and twenty eight RBIs. And she's a sophomore. I think junior. You're going to be a junior. Yeah, all right, we're

trying to get Kate. We've been trying to get Kaitlin Low. She's busy, right, so I don't want we're gonna Does she know who we are? That's why, that's why she she actually knows who he does. You know what, you know what, We're gonna have to call it Danny Martinez and say, dude, you need to step up and get her on the shutter for us. All right, do you both remember the name DJ Burns

junior? Yeah? Oh, the North Fines State guy. Yeah. He unfortunately went draft undrafted, right, but was immediately signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Right, It's funny it's funny because well, we saw all the international players right get picked out. It's been happening for a while now, so all the college guys have been kind of shootout. How much did you have a lot of stuff there? Not a lot that he's just gonna be playing this well, something I wanted to bring up a couple days ago to so

killer gloves back. Right, he's playing here and didn't get a sniff kind of I don't know what term to use, but he's not in the pros think of the stuff, and he's pretty good, right, tell tells you, tells you how much how much better he has to get and how he needs to improve because he was not and you saw the people they were drafting, he was not in that legs. That tells you that there's issues with his game. Well he's a he's a really good player, but there's some

things missing. Right, what is what we found out? And I mean and when you think about how good he is in our way that we know that he's good, right, and how good he is and yet not even as you say, not even a sniff that you know to be drafted tells you how good you got to be? Right, And and and part right, and part is we don't know about all these guys on the international say, yeah, we see all these college players, but you know, we don't know who's out there. Sure, and you know it's their job,

the NBA scouts and stuff to know that. I mean, how how many international guys were in the you know, or non college guys a bunch or you know, got drafted in the in the two you know, in the two rounds, half a third you know, a lot of us, right, And that's just the way of the world. This is not for the faint of heart if you're a player, right, because there are very few spots for you. And then good luck with that. You can make a ton of money obviously in Europe. But we saw how good he is,

Caleb, and he's there was still no rule. Well, and and you think again, you think about that, these guys know each other, right, All the college players know who all the good college players are. And you're saying, okay, I got to be better than these guys. But then there's a whole wave of guys overseas that they're that they're not even paying attention to. And and you go, okay, I thought I was in the top twenty five college players. Well, I dropped down to fifty.

When you were on you, when you yeah, overall, when you add in, when you add in the the other guys. I remember when I first took the beat, the Beat for basketball back in nineteen ninety ninety one, lout And and the Cincinnati coach, the former Cincinnati coach, Grumpy Bob Huggins. We're doing a doing a Nike thing in Phoenix, and so I went to cover that and we talked about the international players. And this is the nineteen ninety when it was kind of like still fresh and they were doing

clinics all over Europe or whatever. And Luke was talking about just in a few years, do you and how we spoke, what's gonna happen. They're going to come in and do you know, take the jobs and lo and behold after all. You know, it's like Tendre I started this, started this thing about softball, right, and now it's everywhere. These guys are coaching in Europe and now they're here. Yeah yeah, yeah, no, yeah, they are and they are here and they're here to stay. Yeah,

they're getting better. Number one and two picks right went from France and Australia. Yeah, you know, crazy, I'm doing it as you're going along. I'm doing account of how many at least at least twenty I think. Okay, go ahead, I'm sorry. Last thing I have is that you mentioned earlier. EA Sports has released some of the rankings for their new video game, releasing July eighteenth, some of them being the toughest stadiums to play, Texas A and M Kyle Field being number one, but they also

released the offense and the defensive ratings. Arizona was a number fifteen in the offense. They didn't show for the defensive rating, but today they released the overall rating of the top twenty five teams. Arizona made it in at twenty three. Well, what has everyone talking is that Colorado's number sixteen? Okay, I laugh. I you know what that's. That's about gaining attention to the game, right Yeah. People who follow loved Deon Sanders and love all

the stuff that's going on. YadA, YadA, YadA. We want people to come guard game. We want them to you know, get Shador Sanders and make them like the best player in the game and all that stuff. Interesting stuff. I you know, I'm not. I'm still not sold on Dion Sanders as a good overall head coach. I don't know if you are, Steve No. I think the jury is still out. He's still doing his rounds. You know, we're gonna running in America and all that stuff.

And I think one of the guys asked him, but what are you gonna do when the kids are gone? And he, you know, went on his rent. They follow me, I don't follow them. So we'll see what happens. And everyone talks about the NFL. There's no guarantee that they're gonna play in the NFL. They're gonna be good right to play in the NFL. Yeah, so you're right, Okay, I just did the

count. Fifty eight draft picks, eleven international players, and then another another four fifteen Another four were G league G League players, So there were I mean, you know, it's still a majority of college sixteen. But let's look at the top. What the top in the top twelve, there were four international players, so a third of the the uh a third of the top twelve player picks for international players. So you know, and then and as we said, the top two, So yeah, I mean that that's

where the game is and and again. You know, I'm Caleb Love probably wasn't thinking about Zach Ree the number one pick where Alex started the number two pick when he was thinking about who he's better than? You know who, you know, whether or not I mean draft, Just tell you who was the For all you guys, could you watch college basketball too? Right? Who's the best college player you saw last year? I'm thinking more in person for me, but I know you didn't go as many games. The best

player in person, I'm gonna I'm gonna say Zach Edy. Okay, okay, I mean here's you know, he was beast. I saw him at the Final four, and you know the only the only other games I saw were the Pack twelve tournament games and then Arizona's home games. You know, there was nobody in the Pack twelve that just jumped out at me. They kept saying this Cody Williams, guy was they had They had three dudes at Colorado, and you're thinking, what the hell? How come Colorado wasn't any

better than what it was? Cody Williams went ten. I liked Tristan the Silva a lot, but he didn't knock my socks off Okay, So did you watch who's your best college player that you saw? I would also agree, Zach ed Yeah, you could take anyone from that Yukon team. Yeah, anyone. See the one the one guy that I don't know if he's a pro player, but he was fantastic was the kid from from Florida International, the guard who but but see, I saw him as a guy who

had a great day. No, he's good. Yeah, he's good because he's making banquet, that was shooting. He was he went somewhere Florida. He went somewhere in Arkansas, Arkansas. That's where he's gonna go get paid with with Cali party and he's gonna light it up and let him play. Yeah, he was fantastic that day. And yeah, but he's very good, right, I mean there were some guys who just lit up Arizona.

You go, okay, you know the two guards from Purdue. I didn't see any of that at the final four from those two guys, right, I saw none of that. Uh you know, Kyle Philipowski, did you know? So he was when I first when I went to Duke there, he was very good. At the time I saw him, he was good. But then he just kind of leveled up. Yeah, he didn't impress me a whole hell lot. So yeah, I think it was that.

I literally thought, you know, after watching Zach Edie in the semi final game in the final four, I thought, man, producing, uh, Connecticut is gonna have a tough time with him. Well they didn't because he he got his but nobody else got anything. And that's how Connecticut won that game by a lot. All Right, all right, God, we're gonna we used it up. Okay, Hey, nice job one. All Right, we're gonna take our break. We're gonna come back. George mott Is.

We're gonna talk some uh collectible stuff, particularly as it relates to uh uh Bronnie James and his jersey being released. How are you guys? We're doing well. Thank you. Jay had some questions. We are they standing in line outside your shop waiting for their Bronnie James jerseys? How funny you laugh? Jay, Dave. Actually

we've had several calls on his on his jersey. I was like, we don't sell jerseys and I don't think they're available, but you can't pre order them, Okay? And then I was sure to see what number he would get he wore. I think he woren't six. That's sc and obviously his dad wars that he's not going to give his jersey up. But I think they're going with nine, right, they got the see again, it started showing up on my on my feeds today because they released it fanatics. Has

he emailed me a thousand times to bry buy Bronnie James jersey? So so let me ask him just in general though, is there a market for him or will there be one? Do you think? Or if there isn't one, what would it take for them to be market for his stuff? No, there is a market. There's obviously there's a huge market, and there was one even when he had just a Sea card, his USC cards and his collectible as autographs. Is they gonna Is they gonna appreciate in value?

I doubt it. I think this is the highest you can get. So next year when you pull his cards, his new Laker rookie autograph cards, my advice sell sell, sell sell, Well it's high, you know, because he's I mean, he could be a good role player, you know, off the bench, But I mean he's not gonna be if he had three inches on him maybe, you know, because he's got potential and he could be a defensive player. But that's about it. What what do you

mean by high high high? How high could it be? Uh? Well, his autograph cards are already selling in his USC they're sorry, not five hundred dollars and some of them could go up to two three thousand dollars, which is it's ridiculous to me someone like that, I mean even for him to get drafted was ridiculous, obviously. I'm sure you guys talked about that already. R But let me ask you. Would you have one of his cards? We do not, but they've pulled several at the shop. I

do not own one or what would like to own one? And I'm a Lakers fand I love the Lakers. But so you're not in that marketing for him, then no. But he does have a dual autograph with his dad at one on one and they pulled it. I don't know what to speculation because they haven't sold it yet, but I think it's in the sixth figure ring. So one hundred thousand a dual autograph one on one car it's absurd. So there's only one of those is what you're saying. Yeah, there's

only one. There's only one existed, and they put in a product and it sold a lot of packs of that product or a lot of boxes. But so it might be a cool card just to have a dual a dual card to them. You know, it's a historical thing and you know that's a cool thing, a collection. But you know, so, so what did they do? So the whatever whatever brand they they signed, they said, Okay, we're putting one, this one card out in a box somewhere

and everybody go buy it and see if you get it. Now that works, yeah, kind of like Willie Want Got. What happened was Lebron James was exclusive with Upper Decks for years, per decades or a couple of decades. And it's just like Michael Jordan, he's exclusive with Upper Decks Fanatics.

The one that we're talking about the jerseys makes the jerseys stuff. They they just got the licenses for the for the sports cards and they actually bought Tops right, So they lured Lebron James out of his Upper Deck contract into a Top Fanatics exclusive contract. The first card they did the deal with, he signed that card with his son, and there was the one to one and they put it in a product. They put it actually in a tops product,

a baseball product, and they sold a ton of it. It was, and they had a bounty out there for one hundred thousand, and someone pulled it. But I don't think he accepted the bounty. He didn't. He didn't send them a card and get his one hundred thousand, so it's probably more than that. Wow, Well, how do the international players go? Are they worth keeping selling it? Did? It used to be the case? You know, international players, as good as they were, they

would not get any hobby love, you know. However, things have changed with Lemby when Bayama. You know, obviously this draft, top top six players were French players. You even had an African League player. And actually the best player I think is the Serbian player. I can't remember his name. He was drafted like number twelve and he won the euro Championship. I think he was with Oklahoma City Thunder. He's going to be good. He's actually a eight punth player. But typically, you know, they do not

get hobby love. However, things have changed, so one ever knows. I call it geek glove. Let me along those lines. Are you're the leader of the geeks witch, Yeah, I am the leader of geek in our club, in the geek club. So do you do you get more love from the guys who grew up with this stuff, like older guys or

the young crowd kind of coming in doing the same thing. And things have changed so pre COVID so five years ago, it was all older people that I would be the youngest guy in the in the room, you know, at a show. It was all Now it's changed now I'm the oldest guy in the room and it's all kids. One of my workers is Max.

He's been one of me since he was thirteen. He's twenty two. Now it's that age group now, you know, and it's kind of so it's actually cool to be a geek or a collector geek because there's money in it. So so things have definitely changed, you know. It's definitely a younger genre now. Well okay, yeah, well Jay and I were gonna collect our Nicola. Well, well I'm still waiting for my show. Hey, card George, I'm still it all right, I'll bring it to you next

week. Lets get you all right. Well, okay, what we got to get we have to get see a card. What card should we get him? No, you don't need to know what? You know what and Arizona. No, George, don't get him anything, okay, because he's a grump and he says I'm not a fan, and so don't get him anything. He really is a fan. Right, we are discovered that she went to the game. I don't need a car. I don't see you know, Okay, I got one. I got one. Get him,

get him Cruz a Delacruz card. That's right, you'll take a Dela Cruise card. He actually he actually got in his car and went drove to one hundred and twenty miles to a game to see Elie Delacruz. So the fact that he did that means that's the card he needs. If we were to camp or something, we would have seen he was all geared up he did, and he's not a fan. The underwear, I bet it, the whole thing. Georgia. We're gonna cut your mic off right now. We're

talking to George Mitis from Showtime Cards. We've had We've had this conversation before. Does it does it go in basically the time of the year as what's most popular, like right now is the NBA what everybody's talking about because the ternal it's seasonal. Yeah, so's NBA. We're transitioning to the draft has happened. The finals just happened. So NBA is definitely still you know, that's the hot sport come August and NFL's coming in and then it's all football.

It's all NFL. It's definitely seasonal. And hockey was a tremendous year for hockey. Even the Stanley Cup, you know it was it was a game seven. So it definitely is seasonal. So you've been in this business thirty eight years? Rights come to god, I'm the car father. How have you been in for a while, because you're a young, relatively young guy. Thank you? So I did. I opened the shop when I was twenty five and I've had it for twenty six years. So here's the

math. But I started when I was seventeen doing shows. So let me go here with you. At some point you had to have some highs and some lows. Where are you now? But when was there lows and the highs and then now? So this type of business runs with the economy. When the economy does well, people have money to spend on, you know, on these type of like you know, hobbies. When we're struggling and there's a recession, they don't give my crap. You know, you're trying

to get milk, and so you're not going to buy these. Two thousand and eight, you know, when the housing market crash and stuff, we were crashed and I was literally three months I was a quarter away from bankruptcy and just going out of business. Right now, it's been a tremendous one since. So we're absolutely out our high s. Uh. You can do so many different things with online and different platforms and online breaks and and you

can sell and so many different platforms. So it's with technology. It's really helped us a lot. Very cool. All right, So, as you mentioned, we're headed towards football. Uh, the rookies that are coming in, uh you know this year, you know, Caleb Williams and such. Who are the who are the hot names? And uh again, how how will their markets develop? Obviously all the quarterbacks. It was a tremendous year. Unlike basketball, which was a horrible draft. For basketball this year one

of the worst ones. This was one of the best drafts. You know, is Caleb Williams is huge. There's uh, there's so many, you know, it's literally it's every single quarterback people as on including them including uh, they can't even think of the one that went to the Falcons that they were so pissed that they drafted them and there he had Michael Pennix. Michael Pennix right to Washington. Yeah, exactly. He might be really good right off the start. You know, if he gets in there, he gets

hurt and oh, Caleb Williams urge is. He's phenomenal. His talents. I don't know if his attitude sometimes that reflects. But they like the good guys, Trevor Lawrence and you know the Soperrow those all American players obviously like Tom Brady. So so a guy like Caleb Williams he was I mean his he had cards at USC right, so he was probably pretty big already more valuable now because he was the number one pick. You know what, you know, you get you've got one of his cards? How long do you

hang on to that? He's really tough. I mean, if he does well, I mean, you know, the Bears are not going to do anything the first season or two, but it could be like c. J. Stroud within a couple of years during the playoffs and they're you know, this year's CJ. Shroud was the rookie. Last year they're ranked I think Houston Texans are ranked like four or five. It's powerhouse, so they can

change it really quick. But just to give you a perspective, his cards, his autograph cards, which he was the number one pagon are selling like two to three hundred dollars. Briannie James was five hundred dollars. Park Is even more. She's like seven hundred dollars for an autogress. She's just trying that. She's so popular. So it's all popularity obviously, as well as on field performance. So let me ask you about you guys, mister Bill

Walton and mister Jerry West. Mm hmmm. So what are their cards going for or they all they all went up, Willie May's Walton, Jerry West, they all went up, and it's it's uh, I don't know. The one the one that was kind of unexpected was Bill Walton, you know, right because he was still working. He was I mean, we just seen him. He got our Upper Duck conference in in January. I took pictures with him. We chat shotted about Arizona and Tucson, you know,

obviously, but he was kind of unexpected. Jerry west And and William Mays were older, so they're more expected. They spiked, but not as much. Bill Walton in terms of rate, like like percentages, he went up the most. Okay, let me ask you on something like that, Like William Mays, was that you know, he played at a time where you know, I mean there were baseball cards and stuff, but it was you know, there wasn't like a market like there's let's say you got an autograph

on a on a program or a baseball card. It's just something that you got, you know, so you can't prove that he signed it other than having somebody look at the signare and say, yes, that's him. Is there any value to any of that or what you know? You know, it's it's weird things things really changed in our in our market. You know, sometimes what's hot is the opposite is really so back in the you know, five ten years ago. In those are called in person autograph, right,

so it's something you got in person. We're notvaluable. People didn't actually even want them. They didn't want a card signed. You know, you can ruin on early you know, the fifties Willie May's card signed. Nowadays, if you get it authenticated, you know, and they you know, they say hey, yes, PSA slabs it and puts it in a case. That's actually the hottest, the hottest things there is right now. Like a Michael Jordan in person rookie card autograph a p S A ten will go

for a million dollars. So if you have Willie May's like an earlier program or a card signed, and you get it authenticated, that's actually the hottest thing on the market right now. How do you get something like that authenticated? You have to send it to somebody or what Yeah, send it to a third part of party authentic? What do they do? Sports authenticator is a big one. JSA James Spence authenticator is another big one. There's a

few of them, Beckett Beckett collectibles. Those are the three big ones. You want to send them? How do you? How do they authenticate it? It's it's actually a human being that's comparing their signature or flow they got database. These are professionals almost like a forensic you know, like if you want to prove someone's on the graph or so much signature is real. They bring in these forensics writing experts. That's basically what they have it for the

sports memorabilia market. Well, okay, okay, well, George is always good to talk to you. I'm gonna probably go see you next week. Be prepared, please sounds good and bring me my show. Hey, card man, I will see you next week. Okay, thanks for stepping in appreciating George's speedway showtime cards on speedways. It's a fun. It's like a museum over there. Really bunch of stuff. You may stuff, old stuff,

really pictures, blah blah blah. You can even see some of my stories from Lut because he has them selling, you know, paper paper, color sign from lot. How'd you get these this as well? I have waits Okay, yeah, some pull stuff, all right, I kate your signature. Yeah it's lutstuff. All right, we'll be right back. We'll close out the week week. Give us a call. Jet Fox Sports fourteen fifty streaming live. I mean iHeartRadio wams Hey, welcome back to I'd the Ball Hero Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jay and we have one with us fifteen more minutes if you like to call, let us know what you're thinking. Five to two, oho, four one, six, seventy four forty right before we tick off for the weekend and then come back for three days and then take two more days. Right, it's gonna be like that for the summer. Hey man, we're working

right now to line up our guests for next week. We have to. We had such a hard time in the last couple of days. Yeah, last few days. But hey man, we've made it through. You know, we got fourteen minutes and change till we're free for the weekend. Steve, we'll probably start getting some well I don't know how many Olympians we're gonna have. They're probably gonna be slim pickings. Yeah, we have Delaney Snell.

I don't know Jordan, guys, he's het. He finished one spot out of a spot in the shot put by by less than a meter. I think somebody said half a meter. He's in the hammer throw today is two or no. No, he's just doing the he's just shotput in hammer throw. In fact, uh, he should be competing as we speak. I think the hammer throw competition was about to start and then Tally Bonds the

four hundred meter hurdler. She's competing tonight as well, So if you're I think, I think the the trials are on various channels tonight, but those two are are are still trying to get in. But the shot put, I think my understanding shotput was Jordan Guy's best chance, that he's sort of an underdog when it comes in. Have you seen much of the afield? It's fun. I didn't know this, but I was watching yesterday. Uh. The discus thrower, Uh, the world champion, the gold medal one

and she's from Stanford. She got to be about twenty eight ish. She looks like a Barbie doll and she and she's not big, she's she she throws out like crazy. Yeah, I'm thinking back in our day if I remember, they're big, big, strong. Yeah, it's just a wispy yeah. And it's all technique and it's I guess she's from Stanford Grad. Uh. Just unbelievable. I'm thinking, really, this is how the game has changed. Yeah, I did say there was like a what a fifteen

year old kid? Sixteen year old kid, who's who's been running in the I think the four hundred what? What? What's who's like a guy, yeah, guy, Yeah, a guy who's like, uh, you know, he's he's in the I mean he's there's a chance he could be on the Olympic team. Well in one in one of the events. I saw the fifteen hundred yesterday. I couldn't run fifteen hundred meters for three weeks if they made me. These girls are just unbelievable. And the two hundred,

you know with h Shirkerry Richardson fantastic, So it's gonna be funna. His name is Quincy Wilson and he's in he's sixteen, and he runs the four hundred meters. Okay, I guess I don't know if he I guess that that that was like, uh, last Monday. Maybe that's what we do. We get ahold of one of our guys. I could see him the track coach, Frett Harvey. Frett Harvey, Yes, uh, to come and talk about Maybe he's probably he was probably up there, probably up there

with with guess right now, he's always with his his athletes. So maybe next week when he comes back, we can get with him to give us a quick preview. Yeah, so I'm looking at speaking of fifteen and six year old. There was a fifteen year old in the golf tournament in the PGA turn Oh. I saw that he missed the cut, but he was close. He shot then he shot even par for the two days, fifteen years old. And they showed him and I'm like, he's a child. Well he is young. I'm like, like, he's like, I mean,

he looks like a little kid. Well, fifteen is I think a little kid. I know he's probably not getting into trouble like you think he should be getting into trouble. Maybe if I hadn't been doing that, I would have had a shot shut. I would have had a shot shot at the door liquor. Sure par three? No, can we do well? I don't know what to tell you. I told you too much already, So yes you did? Did I did? I'm trying to look up and see where where this uh, where this kid ended up? Uh? But

I guess it sounds like the four hundred that was last week. So but you know, it's it's it's crazy, like like I think about this fifteen year old kid and how good he is now. He did not look out of place, right, he did not look out of place. He looked like except for the fact that he looked like he was about twelve years old. He looked you know, his shot he hits about three hundred plus yards, right, he wasn't a big kid too, right now, he's not

a big kid, you know. And and and it's like, man, you know, out of these God, it's crazy how these guys can just show up and do this. But he's you know, it's what they do. Yeah, he's fun to watch. That's what they do. Yeah, keep you up, okay, all right, so yeah, no, so well yeah, well we'll see how we'll try and fall. Well, well, we'll probably talk about it on Monday, because they think, like I said, I think Hallie Tally Bonds is is at five thirty today in the

in the four hundred. I think that's the start of the uh you know, preliminaries and all that kind of stuff. So we'll see see anyway, Okay, again, anybody want to call, please do five two four forty. I'm not sure if I want to get into the lebron stuff anymore, the browny stuff. But they mentioned a lot of things on the air that you know, this is all you know, whatever it is, uh,

nepotism, whatever, but it happens throughout everything. Hey. Look, coaches bring their players or their kids to administrate, you know, coaches, uh, the bicker staffs, the dun Lev's and all that stuff, and they get jobs through there. Well. Look, and a lot of times getting

the job is on top of having skills. A lot of times it's who you know, Oh, without question, without w that's I got I got jobs like that, you know, because exactly, you know, I knew somebody and they you know, and they, you know, threw my name out there and I got and I got jobs. But in the end, you have to do the job, be able to do the job right,

do the job, no, no, no question. Usually when the job's open, they already have person, theyread, have the person who's gonna take the job, and then they do the interviews knowing that they're going to hire that gun. Right. That's just the way the world is. Yeah, yeah, I want to take these notes. When you're looking for a job,

smooth the right people. You have to you really have to. Okay, here I think I found it. Were looking for see where the sixteen year old kid did well did in the in the in the four hundred meters, Oh, Okay, the runner, I want to see if you made I want to see if you made it. No, I know the kid. I know the kid, and the golf did not make the cut. He missed the cut, but not by a lot. I think by just a few strokes. Yeah, it's you know, it's tough. I don't

watch a lot of baseball unless I had something in it. And I just followed the Baltimo Orioles now because of because of a friend. And it's because there's no more sports really unless you're not in a baseball even locally. It's hard to say. The the in the indoor football is not not very good. Yeah, sorry to poo poo that, but it's true. They're not so. And then the hockey's done, basketball is done, football's coming up. We're right in that kind of slow zone. Yeah, slow zone.

And I hope we don't do that with a show, because it's tough. It's tough to find people available. Sorry, I'm on the road. Sorry, I'm on the road. God, I can't find this. I thought I had it. I thought I had it. All right. Anyways, Okay, now we're in that you're we're at that point, you know, we're at that point, and so we'll well we'll model through it, Steve, we'll get it. We'll get there at some point, right and Tommy. Maybe we try to get Tommy too if he comes back, but he's

probably we'll see. They're busy for us, and plus you know they're taking their time off and stuff. Yeah, yeah, we'll see if we can get them. Well, first let's let's see that they respond to your request that you tried this week exactly. We've been trying to get some administration people to come on the show and give us an update of what's going on over there. Yeah yeah, yip, ye, all right, cool, Okay,

what else anybody want to call? Please do? We're here waiting for that phone to ring six minutes five two four one, six seventy four forty uh whatever else. People stay in town. People are gonna uh del Mar starts in a couple of weeks, so that should be fun. And our girl fund that time we went out to that, Yeah, that was really cool. Yeah uh and d you will be out there doing some stuff, so I'm looking forward to that. All right here we Okay, now I

think I found it. Seriously, I know this is a great, great radio right now, Okay, the man four hundred the qualifiers were, is that his name? You killed me here? I know I'm trying to No. I was in because I knew his name was Quincy Quincy Wilson. He finished sixth, so he didn't make it. The top three were Quincy Hall, Michael Norman, Chris Bailey or the qualifiers in the four hundred meters, So I mean he just I mean he's six so he was sixteen years old.

I'm guessing he'll be an Olympian in the next Olympics when he's twenty. But again, what was I doing when I was sixteen? I was crazy Speedway, you know, hanging out at the Jack in the Box over there that they've since shut down and now it's a I think it's a like a Korean barbecue or something like that on Speedway between Swan and Oh Yeah and alvarnon Jack Box. They are very few of them were, right, are They're all going? A lot of them are gone. You know the Jack in

the Box that I really hung out at a Comino cycle on Broadway. That's that's been a burrito place for many years. That's when that that's where you know you said you'd go out for you got the pizza joint after your games? While this jack in the box, I mean a second speed. It's do they have a godfather? Share? Did they? No? We had Shaky's Shaky okay, because that's where we had. We had Shakey's in village and those are the places that we had by our high school. Wan's got

a big smile on his face thinking about Shaky's Village. Yeah, nostalgia. There's a four minute call. You're on the air and eye on the ball. Hey, what's up? Jay's George here? Uh? Sorry, Steve too, Sorry man, ignore you want what's up? Guys? Uh? You know I was listening to radio the other day and somebody brought this up. I would love to see you guys are just talking about the Olympics.

I would love to see uh, you know how when people do the forties, like like the forties sprint and then they show other people doing the forties like with that like ghost. Oh yeah, there's like there's something behind him. I'd love to see that in the Olympics, Like what did you say, Bolt do with somebody behind you know, like like who's the fastest man on Earth? Really, I'd love to see yeah, I think it sounds like a cool idea. Just how fast they are, right compared to other

people, Like they did that like in the NFL combine. Well they saying both a few years ago and it wasn't even close. The guys were chilling in by by a lot. Yeah. Yeah, but it would just be fun to see, you know, like with our Olympians, who would be the fastest, Like who's the highest jumper in the world, Like like you could do that, you like you can do ai where people are jumping over a bar, where you're doing a forty, where you're doing the four forty.

Let's just say, I don't know, you know, it would be cool to see the world record. Even in swimming, that would be neat to see, like you know how they how they have that line going across the hole, like this is the world record? Why not just have the person that did it swimming like virtually? Yeah, you must be an Olympian guy, a watcher that. Yeah. I like you know things. Yeah, my wife digs it, so I dig it. You know. Good, good luck to you. Good are you okay? Wait are you still

the track guy? Because I you know, I was growing up I loved watching the track. I just I lived for the track stuff. But I'm kind of like, I watch a lot of difference obviously the basketball. Uh you know, I watched both the men's and women's gymnastics. I think some of the stuff that they do is just it's just crazy. But you know, kind of still the track guy too though. Yeah. No, I ran track and college and the high school. Yeah it was amazing, very

good. Look, thanks for calling. Appreciate it, George. Ye have a good one, have a great weekend. Thank you too. Good you can killed two minutes. Fun stuff, you know, fun stuff. I mean, I loved the Olympics. I really did. Now the Winter Olympics I still really like because I love the ski and stuff. Not cross country, but like the ski jumping and the slaloms and the downhill and all that stuff. And well, i'll just say, and the women's figures gaming.

Of course you had to throw that in there. I did we cover. I covered I covered too. I covered the Australia and then there's Greece. A lot of fun. It's you it's gotta be nuts, it is. It's like, uh, midway through it's three four weeks of being out there and being away blah blah blah, and midway through you're thinking, I'll never do this again. I never do It's Climber's remorse, right, You're going halfway up and you're thinking, what am I doing here? What am I

doing here? I'm never going to do this again, And then you're finishing. It's just got to hope they invite me back. Yeah, after it's completed and you have to settle down, and because you're always it's eighteen hour days going to the venues and stuff like that. But you know, once you do what you're thinking, you're like an NBA guy who's been drafted. I can say I did it. Yeah, No, I never got a chance to do that. I think it would be fun, and it would

be hard to be fun. It's it's it's cool. I mean, when you're out of the country and stuff like that, there's all those issues to deal with. Well, the issue was not at home in two thousand and two thousand and four. It was the security was unbelievable. People with rifles and at the media centers and things like that, kind of spooky kind of speak. It would be definitely good week, good week. It was fun. It was very fun. One nice job today, man, putting up

with us. We were a little hope to see all into Yeah. Yeah, we hope to see you in two weeks too. I don't want to be reading about you. Yeah, send us a video. I want to see some video. I'll have the video our sky daven and all I got was his shirt. All right, thanks for being here all week. We'll see you on Monday.
