Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez. They have their eye on the ball on two sums Sports stage yet Fox Sports fourteen fifty streaming live. I mean I heard Radio Warm they welcome back to whine about here on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve, He's Jay. Now we have Jason with breaking news bases eigh on the ball, breaking news. Arizona. Zulus Dabella's signed a two way contract Philadelphia seventy sixers as an undrafted free agent. So that happened like immediately
after the draft. It was barely over right, and he talked about that Tommy did. He was with them at a parody last night and he said all these things in the back door back rooms. Yeah, we'll play that. But I had to go do some research on what does the two way contract mean? So basically, Zulus is on the G League, so he's getting paid what would lead players get paid, which between eighty five and ninety
thousand dollars a year or a season. So you know, he he get he finished, go going to this point where making he finished the school, doesn't even graduate, but he's gonna make ninety grand, uh, you know playing basketball if he if he gets called up to the seventy six ers anytime during the season. His salary is a half a million dollars a year, which is half of the rookie salary. So he got a pretty good job,
you know. Uh, you know, and the Sixers thinking enough of him to sign him to that contract and make him available to them during the regular season. And if he doesn't make this contract at some point, if he doesn't, he'd go home and make that same money right in Europe. Right. So I wish I had his problem. I wish I had his
problem too, and I wish I was making that right now. Um. But Tommy talked about being with the Zulis last night during the during the draft, and he had a draft party, but kind of nobody was expecting he was going to be drafted. Here's what he had to say about it.
I mean, I was extremely happy for Zoo and h you know, we were all together last night, you know, and you know the that that back half of that second round is crazy, and um, you know, I mean they should probably do a thirty for thirty or a documentary on him with his many moving parts and picks happen in every two minutes and agents calling players and asking him if they would you know, if they draft you,
would you be willing to be stashed? And you know, an agents telling teams don't draft him here because we think we got a two way there and there's a lot of moving parts and uh and so you know, I think you know, with them, you know a bit of time to go in the draft. I think Zoo, you know, knew he had that in his back pocket and that's what he wanted to do. And so I think
that's what they pursued. You know, him and his agents pursued the opportunity to get a two way with Philly as opposed to get drafted by another team. And and so I know, I mean, z he was awesome. He was you know, he was a really special moment, you know, for him to get it, and uh, you know, trust me, there was zero disappointment in the room when his name didn't get called, because obviously he knew what opportunity he had and he was extremely grateful and extremely happy.
Good for us, right because a great guy, I mean, just a great, great guy the whole time he was here, did the work. I think that's what you know, people appreciated him the most. Um there's a clip up there that says, to Bella, above that, above the songs, I believe you gotta find that and you gotta hit that. They kicked He could say, he should say they should kick kiss my asses. Didn't know what he said. He said, they kiss mysy. We gotta keep that. We gotta keep that. We have to change it.
But anyways, Tommy got to ask you, Okay, how how will his game uh translate in the NBA? Will he does he have game for the NBA? Here Tommy's thoughts, You know what I mean? Who he You know he has when he has a knack for, you know, getting stuff done. You know, whether it's in the pain, the basket transition, um, you know, um so, I I think you know even you know when he watched him play a little bit in those uh um you know the combine games. You know you could just see you put Zoo out there
with other good players. I mean, you know, Zoo might not be the guy initiating everything or you know, making all the highlights or making a bunch of jump shots, but but you know he's just he's kind of the receiving endo a lot of those plays and he can just catch the ball and laid up and there's a value in that. That's that's a lot harder to do than people think. And the way he runs the floor, um, I think he creates easy opportunities for himself and his teammates. So, you
know, I'm interested to see. But you know, I mean, hey, like a lot of these guys, you know you're there, but now the real challenge is in front of you. You you gotta go at that level with the best players in the world, and you gotta make it happen. And uh, and I'm excited to see Zoe's journey. I mean Zoo. You know, Zoo could have a jump in him. I mean, you put him in that environment, I think he could there's another jump in
his game and hopefully he can access that they're doing. Disagree with that one bit. You're your guy. You you spent enough time watching the draft last night to tweet about your your boy Jimie hawkas Yeah, who who would you think is a better basketball player? I think they're I think they're very equal. They just played different positions to do. I would say Himie that Himie went up as as he did, but he's more He's more versatile, even
though he's not versatile. He well he isn't. He isn't. I mean he's you know, he's even more of a tweener than than than than a Zulus. He's got a better outside shot than a Zulus. But he's not again, he's still not tall enough to be that guy. Who would you start if you were a coach, who would just start ahead between those two for that reasons? What? Yeah, and he can do more. He's perfect for the team than he went to. Right, he can do them are right, and I'm happy for him. Plus he's a homie. That
was very cool. Well that's why you did it. I know, that's why you didn't annoy, but but it's hard for me to believe that zulas. Uh, you see all these dudes. This say is how can these guys be better? And they are. He'll be playing pro basketballs. Yeah, well, of course he's definitely gonna be fun. All right, West Virginia is Kurk Cresa is entering the NCAA trans report in the wake of Bob
Huggins resignation. He told, yes, yeah, he did it. Well, we kind of I heard this kind of yesterday, but it was looking at the false report. No, that's true. And I said to somebody, he better of catch that check. He better check that was not cheap to my understanding, he was not a cheap check. Yeah, because he'll be double dipping. Well, the question, you know, did he did when you get when you get that you signed a contract of some sort,
does he have to give it not? You know, that's like the thing that Oklahoma the quarterback kid who got the two or three cars, right, that's a rattler. Why are you giving these kids money? Yeah? And then this happens. Yeah, and that's the thing really broke right before the press conference started. So, uh, you knows, as you would expect. Tom. He was asked about Kirk Creasa. Here's what he had to say about Kurt Kerr's a special guy and you know, I love coaching him.
Um, you know, I mean he you know, his spirit was contagious and he really helped his program. Um, he helped me really kind of helped establish this program and build a great foundation. And uh, you know he was a part of you know, tons of wins and and and he impacted numerous games and and you know a lot of the games he was the deciding factor. So um, I have no doubt in my mind Curs gonna be successful in basketball, you know what, whether it's at another school
or you know, professionally. I mean, he's just a really good basketball player. So you know, I mean I enjoyed coaching him, and uh I look forward to following you know, his career. Jay, me ask you a question that's not there's no right or wrong answer, like when a phils. If you were able to bring him back, this won't happen, this is not cool. You would you bring him back? Yeah? I
think I would. I don't know if the fans want him. I don't think you can put him in the situation there with all the guys that they got no, no, okay, would make it two crowd they didn't that they were missing another guard or whatever. Would you, just because of the way you think, would you bring him back? Yeah? I would be okay with him coming back because he didn't leave on a bad note except to
certain fans. Not to certain fans because they're jerks, right, true, you know the fans, the fans who were pissed at Kurr are butt heads. I'm sorry, And you know, I think I know some of those people with some of those people. But Kurt did nothing wrong here. He did nothing wrong. There wasn't anything that he did that was bad. He was he was enthusiastic. He was he was trying to win games. He played hurt, he you know, he didn't complain about stuff. He just
went about his business. And people who were unhappy with him were unhappy because, you know, he blew kisses at the crowd and stuff like that. He was still a pretty damn good basketball player, and I think Arizona would be a much better team with him here this year. He would add to the team. I mean, it's still gonna be really good. I don't know if you trade him for anybody that they've gotten now, but if let's say they don't get Caleb Love, I wouldn't have a problem with with him
being here. Yeah, definitely would. Yeah, I agree with you. It's gonna be a tough situation, but I agree with you. It's not gonna happen. I'm just still just hypethe. It's not like a field question. You know, he right the wrong answer. Yeah, all right. Um. Arizona earns twenty twenty four commitment of a three star alas Vegas wide receiver Aldric Harris after official visit. They're getting fifteen. I think they're up
sixteen sixteen commitments for the twenty twenty four recruiting class. Yeah. Yeah, And there was another word. Twenty twenty four three star Bay Area offensive lineman Justin al Kima commenced Arizona as well. Wow, yeah, so there was that seventeen. I think they're sixteen. Okay, yeah, okay, I mean, you know they're they're lighting it up. And look they're getting all three stars. There's a couple of four stars in there. Um, that's
who Arizona gets. The fact that they're getting guys that obviously, you know, the coaching staff believes in. I think people have to just you know, look, they're not gonna go get ten five star guys like George is getting in Alabama's getting two. Former Arizona forward Sam Thomas signed to injury replacement contract by the Phoenix Mercury. Yeah, it gets Britdy Grinder and um who's
the other one day in the Tarassi are both out right now? So Sam, I mean, god, how how game shaped do you have to stay in to be able to you know, to do that? Right? I mean with Sam sitting on her contua shout. They're running every day. I'm assuming they're always like training, Yeah, because you never know when you're might get opportunities. So yeah, as I stay ready, Yeah, you gotta stay ready so that you get those contracts, right, Yeah, definitely good
for her. Awesome national news, the Bills announced they they're extending head coach Sean McDermot and GM Brandon Bean's contracts through twenty twenty seven. The okay, yeah, I'm thinking about the Rams coach, but you're right, Yeah, did you think I'm not sure I'm going to putty more money on the Bulls
because I have the last couple of years. Yeah, I don't know if my patience is really you think about who they're you know, you know you got Pat Mahomes and and uh yeah and Joe Burrow atually I love Alan, Yeah I don't. People like Alan, but I think his window kind of it's closed. It's close when they closed already they get some ros. I think they might have a shop. But what with my homes and then the Bengals there, I think those two teams are just so over the top.
Everyone else and watch Miami, and watch Miami. They're coming around too, coming up to. She's tough, tough Saron Rodgers at the Jets. That's how old are you? You're sixty seven years old. He's gonna get eleven million dollars in his banking I don't know if it's one million dollars in his bank account. It's a lot more than the already yet. It's crazy stuff, man. Yeah. Uh, Stenci Bennett I signed his four year rookie contract with the
Rams yesterday. Um, Bennet will be twenty nine years old when his contract is officially over. Sorry, I didn't realize. I didn't even pay attention to draft hims. He's with the Rams. Yeah, okay, so all right, Probably good place for him, is it? Yeah? That's I have one. I have one that we haven't talked about. The local thing. Uh, mister, we had him on the show Nicknzales. This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports sporteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to on the Ball here at Fox Sports fourteen fifty on Steve. He's Jake. Now on the phone, we have Jake Fisher from former uth A Football and one of our great sponsors. Jake, how are you? You're wonderful? Thankfully it's Friday. Yes,
we didn't duke to you. Let's Friday right now. We missed him. He blew us up. Yeah, I was not able to get on last week. I had some stuff come up, not too important, but you know, okay, cool cool, So let's uh, let's talk about you a stuff. I know you didn't watch the draft last night. You
probably weren't surprised about a Zulus. No, I wasn't. And I read up on something basically saying that his agent because he already had a deal put in place, and I hadn't told a lot of those teams that were considering taking him at the end of the second round not too so. I think
everybody got what they wanted. Well, and you probably you know, you probably know a bunch of guys who have gone through that, football players, you know mostly, but you know, you get to a point where you'd rather have you'd rather pick the place that you're gonna go than to be told where you're gonna go, because you feel like, you know you're gonna pick a place where you've got a better opportunity. Right. Well, yeah, and I just think, you know, stylistically, I think him and his
agent did the right thing. They're gonna take a little bit less money, but it might, you know, give him an extra few years in the league to make up for that. So if he's able to find a place, then he's able to fit in and do it. I think he can. I think he made the right decision. Yeah, no, no question. A lot of people are saying he didn't make the decision after he didn't
get drafted, but I think that was probably premature. Well yeah, and then Mike, I said, the agent basically told these guys not to draft them. So you know, I know there's a lot of intrigue because I mean he's the first one down the flour every single time. He's got you know, very unique touch around the rim. And so you know, a couple of these teams were calling towards the end of the second round. But you know, like I said, I hope for the best and I think
he'll fit in well with what they're trying to do over there. All Right, So we're watching We're watching Jed Fish pile up players for the twenty twenty four recruiting class. Guys coming from all over the place. They're beating some good schools. Been paying much attention to you who some of these guys are. Yeah, And the thing that really annoys me, like on the message boards or just where ever it is. They're all saying, yeah, but
we're not getting any four stars. We're not getting any four stars. Look at the offers that these guys have. It's not like it was back in the summer days where we were beating out Portland's State. Like we're legitimately beating out us off for very good talent. So I just tell all the listeners, do not look at the stars. These guys obviously have shown that they can, you know, build a team and that can attract really good athletes.
And I think with another year of Jade Delora there, I think, like I said, next year, we might get five, six, seven of those four stars, just because they know that he's going to be around, or at least he's saying he's going to be around long term. They've created a family atmosphere. They're going to start putting players in the league here of this next year. So people pay attend to that stuff. No,
I agree, I agree. What about curR You saw what hapen occur, right, Yeah, that's just an important, you know, an unfortunate situation. I hope he lands somewhere where you know, he's comfortable and you know, it just it sucks because he just I guess, moved over there, got everything completely done, probably got an ideal or two, and now it's like I got to kind of restart, and it doesn't sound like they're going
to hire anyone here anytime soon. So if they would have had somebody in mind, they probably could have kept you know, a mass exist from going on over there. And I thought they were actually gonna have a pretty damn
good roster. So it's unfortunate all around. Yeah, you know, when you when you see something like that, you go, that's when you feel like you like the fact that guys can you know, move around, you know, if they if they need to be able to do that, because you know, that was no fault of his, you know what happened with Huggins. And now you know, now you're sitting here, it's the summertime and your coach has gone, and what are you supposed to do? So
I don't know, it's at that time that I think it's okay. But man, you know we've been talking to both Ada Barnes and UH and Tommy Lloyd about the way people are you know, able to just move around as much? And are you ever going to get used to that, you know, I think there needs to be some sort of some sort of you know, regulation, Like mobility is a fantastic thing, but even these professional athletes have contracts for a certain amount of years, so I'm not really too sure
how to solve that. I am for more UM freedom of mobility, obviously for the players, me having played UM and we actually went through a critic in saying coaching change in a pretty insane season, and you know, if somebody wants to lead because there's a coaching change, or somebody you know, just wants a better opportunity later on in their career, I'm for it. But I mean having you know, a thousand players in the portal that once you're kind of like wow, But once again, it's fairly new. It's
the wild on West, and they'll figure it out. So we talked to Tommy today. I don't know if you listen to any of it. I know you you must have listened to or read some of it, because you got this stuff on Zulus. I really liked this team, you know, we talked about this two weeks ago where everyone was pooh pooing him for the first month or so, and then all of a sudden, he's great because
he's done what he's done. Yeah, and then realistically players want to go play in that system, like the high scoring system, players want to go play there. Obviously you can see we got two Fox Stars coming in next year. I think every single you know, player we got out of the portal is gonna be awesome. Defensively, Caleb loved when he wants to actually
be engaged on defense. He's pretty good because so he's an athlete, He's got long arms, he's got quick feet, so um, you know, if he buys in the Tommy system and we have a team that's gonna go ahead and be able to put up some points, but we get into a dog five with you know, like a team like UCLA, they like to slow things down. I think we've got the right guys that have the right mentality. We can go ahead and we can step up and play defense.
And that's what I was worried about last year because we didn't, you know, have a particularly good defensive team. So now you've got some of these bulldogs in there. You got Johnson from SDSU, who's gonna you know, be scrappy, get all the get all those second chance points, around the
rim. You don't have to run place for him, you know, give him a loomp every now and then you still have a more vowel who when he wants to play defense, you know, he's not his feet, they're not as quick, but he's got long arms, so he's able to block things, you know, ultra shocks. And then all the guards that we have, and then obviously Pella too. I think we're gonna have a couple
of first team all defensive guys. I think that we'll have the leaning rebounder in the league, and I think we'll have probably two of the top five scoring players in the league. So I think we're set up fine. Well, you can we're saying, you can tell Tommy's pretty much at peace. What these guys like you guys, you know, all those guys were complaining about stuff. We're fine, We're doing good. He likes his team. Uh, you know, some of these guys he had, he's barely seen.
But you know you can tell you can't wait to get him, you know, to get him over there. They're going to Israel. Did you know that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's uh. I wish I was able to do something like that when there in college. That's uh, that sounds pretty unique and fun. Yeah, nood question, no question. What else is going on with your life in sports? My wife in sports? Shoot? Nothing, getting back in a gym, trying to not have
a dad bought anymore. Hopefully get down to a couple of games here this coming. Yeah, I know you followed you a football recruiting. So he's now he's a landed fifteen sixteen solid guys. Uh. And we've talked about this all the time. I don't know how you cannot not say this about Jed. It looks like the trajectory continues to go in the right direction.
Yeah. Well, and the good thing is with some of these like in State Linemens for example, the two that they got from Apollo Appurn only you know, they didn't have very many offers between the two of them, but they're big, and they're athletic and they're raw. So it's like, you know, if you can get a guy that's as big as you know, it looks like he could potentially have kind of an NFL build. I like the fact that they're offering these kids and it's gonna pay dividend on the road.
And then this is the thing. If you missed out on them or they don't develop, you still have the transfer port to get too. So I think they're doing it right. I heard nothing but good things about the running back from Apole that we got. He wasn't rated very high, but that's just because, like I said, you know, they're watching other running backs or you know, these analysts and of them just maybe you haven't made
it out there. You never know, so but we beat you know, we got him, We beat out col a couple of other really legit Division one offers that put players in the NFL all the time. So obviously we're doing something right. And if you're able to get a lot of these state kids, especially uh, you know the kid from South Point, the defensive
line killing. I mean that dude. He's not polished by any means, but you watch some of his tapes when he was at the you of a camp and you're like, if you're a defensive line coach, yeah, I'm offering a kid like that any day of the week. And he was finally starting to turn it into a national recruiting deal. They're they're starting to get some interest from SEC schools. Obviously, they have offers from Ucla Washington again to legit schools that put people in the league every year. So we're doing
fine. I really like the trajectory, and um I think he's going to keep doing it. So as long as we can keep recruiting and we're an attractive offense and we get some more big guys there in the defensive line, I think we're gonna be set for the next few years. Well, well, you gotta be happy that they got a foot in the door. Finally
at South Point. We've been putting out Division one players for years and none of them that seemed to end up in Arizona, or we got one that transferred back, but you know, they just haven't they just haven't gotten them. And now you got you got oh yeah, well in the last staff, you know, they just automatically assume they weren't gonna they weren't gonna land, you know, Lates and Ransom or you know, Bejon and so like.
It's just one of those things to where some of these kids that go up in Tucson, you have a legit chance to keep them here, even if it is a national recruitment, because they want to be close to the family. You know, they want to stay in town, close to their friends, stuff like that. So the fact that you don't ever show up like that makes no sense. These guys are literally right down the street from
the school. They show up. They loved up these kids. They let them know that they do want to help mentor them and get them to the next level. And if you're a good player and you know you have a legit chance at making it to that next level, that's very appealing, especially staying close to home. So given that you live in the enemy country territory, what do you hear about the football team. I make sure everyone's excited because of a new coach, much like Arizona was two three years ago.
I have a feeling that them and Colorado are both going to have a root awakening. They might win a game or two in the beginning of the year, but then I think that both of them have so much left to do with the roster overhaul. But I just have a feeling that neither of those teams are going to win more than three games. It's one of those things.
And by the way, guys and Chandler, I see more Arizona stuff out in people's yards and the cars, so you know, they get they're getting the message up here, and because you know, we were down for those few years, you know, on the someone era, and now we finally got the cut back in Tucson and our trajectory is going way up. Here a Fox one fourteen fifty. I'm Steve. He's Jake Jason at the boards. We got fourteen minutes. If you want to call, you try to call, so we try to call earlier. Yeah, and we could take a
lot of timey stuff today. It was nice to have something like that to chew on today because, um, so you know, it just it was just good. So let me say this. I've gotten a few, you've got a few us. That was just okay. Here's our caller now, you're on the R and I on the ball. Hey guys, this is done. Hey don what's up? Hey? I just want to wish Jay Johnson. I want to congratulate him on his second World Series with LSU. That's fun because the last time he was at the World Series he certainly wasn't
with us. I knew you were going. That's a good one done. I love that. I love it that. See you're like me. Then, you know, like the is you know, he doubled his salary and then he gets to play in like a little league field over there in the sec Those guys are hitting. Those guys are hitting warning track pop ups that
back home back in the Southeast are home runs all day. Yea, And and you know what, you can't fault the guy for doubling his salary, but the way he did it, bro, if they want you on Tuesday, they'll want you next week when you wet the bed, right right, They're gonna want you after you're done, even more after If if if they would have won a national championship, Parah's owner would have won it twenty one, how much more money would he have gotten because how quickly was is LSU?
You know, they're in the chant, they're in the Championship Series. Now, I mean, the guy's good. Don't have to like him, don't have to like him, but he's good. This is how I listen to this. Jay bitter, uh, don don bitter? You know, just a bunch of bitter over you guys. Should It's not bitterness. It's not bitterness, Steve, It's it's be a man. I'm gonna put man. Don't don't don't go. Don't go skulking around like that. I mean, they would they would have talked to him the next week. They were
so hot for him, they would have talked to him. Who else, who else would have would have turned that that program around. I don't disagree with you. What I'm saying is I'm gonna put you guys as poster children for the Muppet Men, the old man in the balcony. You, You and Jay will take that down. You and me, buddy, we're good all day, all day, are day. We're good. My sons. My sons call me a hater all the time. Let's here's the here's the
deal done. Is that Steve doesn't have passion for anything any team like you and I do, Right, I have no passion at all, no passion at all, he says, sometimes even says he's not a sports fan. I know he's sports. He's a heart. He doesn't have a he's not a fan of a team. You're nothing to grab onto. He's from New Mexico. He'll talk bad about chili or something. No, I'm not even good a chili. Another good message. Thanks to appreciate Thanks. We got a lot of I get a lot of message. You get a lot of
message. If you guys want to message us, the ones who've been messaging us, call us, call us Richard. I know you had something to say. He had a good line. I hope he calls um uh victor victors. You know he's always he's always just paid and he has just nothing nothing happy you never had. I know that's fun. Richard Richard called. But he's the guy to call. Yesterday I said, great players, the great players right ten deep, very good. This might be him. You're
on the air and I on the ball, Ye ni up man? Yeah, did I hear correctly? Your son wants Johnson win. He's just well. You also have to remember, though he was he was working in the athletic department when j Johnson was here, so he likes it. Hey, man, well, now you know which on the trade. That's true, I know, but he's also got a player to be named later and his kid, so you can't you know, I can't trade him. Yeah if we if I trade my son, my wife trades me and that's it and
it's over and I'm nothing and you'll never see that I got nothing. So yeah, but hey, you'll be single, man, all the possibilities in the world. Have you seen sixty three year old single guys? Don't you know? They don't have a lot of pull out there, Nico, you know, and back in my day twenty eight years old. Yeah, okay, but not that sixty three and and fading fast. So no. Anyway, Hey, there's always the Bunny Ranch for guys like he doesn't make enough
money? Here? Do you take a receipt? Can I get a receipt with that? Um? Yeah, there's the first Bunny Ranch reference on our show in the history of our shows that that thing is. We know exactly, I knew, we knew exactly. Do you know what the Bunny Ranch is? Jason? No idea? Okay, good, because we're not gonna tell you too, that would just corrupt the hell out. Yes, we're just gonna we don't pay you enough to do that that we're gonna leave that
one. So so Richard, we talked, Richard may call. We have nine minutes. So we talked about this team that they have this year and I don't kind of disagree with very good team right pieces fast. Richard says, are they good enough to be Princeton? You know again, man, you know the haters, the haters, the haters, and you know, but but then again, until you fix that, you give them something to
hang on, no question. In fact, in fact, I wanted to ask Tommy that, but he kind of talked about it with Dka's Yeah, oh really they were talking about were talking about that. He was like, I don't care what they say because we really haven't talked to him since the loss, and I'm wondering how how he and to some people love you he's talking, Lloyd, But what the reaction is now? Yeah, exactly, I hear you. Hi, You're on the air and I on the ball.
Hi, I wanted to get your thoughts on one of the kerk Carisa angles. Okay, um, so I understand the whole West Virginia thing today and not hating him for that at all. I do respect the tradition of the airs on a Wildcats basketball program. I did think it was odd that he went through all the rigmarole of getting the retired jersey number for Steve Kerr. With that expectation and with that tradition on his shoulders, I expected him
to stick around for a while. So just playing the devil's advocate and what you guys think about that angle of him taken off early. I honestly didn't have an issue with him leaving because you know, you never felt like he had a foot out the door. He felt like you to the very end. He still had, you know, Arizona on his mind. But what just again, as you see guys leave different places, you know, whether guys and and women leaving different places for different reasons. I didn't have a
problem with him going. I particularly did that problem with the fact that I felt like he had treated poorly by the fans, and I wouldn't have stuck around for that another season of that either. Plus I think that he was trying to get some an I l yeah, and yeah, there might have been the whole few of that and he did get some man l West, Virginia. I think that kids, kids nineteen twenty twenty one, whatever, if they have a chance to go and and and still be a star and
get paid for it, Um, they're gonna do that. They're gonna do that. Who was Bruce Pasco? Seems to know something about how much money he got. Oh, there's a lot. There was a lot of money. I could tell you, but I can't tell you all. It's a lot. I'm a significant amount. Yeah. But now the thing, that's why I said, I hope he cast a check because now he's gonna probably get another check somewhere else. Yeah. So I didn't have a problem either.
I just was curious about your thoughts on using Kurr's number and then only staying around for two years. Oh that's I don't think that's a good It was a good story. It would last a couple of years. Yeah, that that act. To me, that kind of meant nothing. It was who's this? Who's this? Real? Quick? Yea, Jeff, So, I don't know how old you are, but you ever make a decision At the time it seemed fine and then realized it wasn't fine. Have you
ever been married enough, said Jeff. Yeah, so I didn't have any issues with the Steve Kerr thing either. I just thought that was kind of cool that they did that. I don't I don't think he owed Arizona anything for that. I was fine. I didn't have any problem with him deciding to take his act somewhere else, not at all. Thanks for question, Thanks for calling, Jeff. I appreciate it makes sense. You were a major decision at the time, and you say, what the heck that?
I just I think I wrong as before. So yeah, and everyone I got what they got out of him three two and a half years, because remember you had to sit out for the first few games of the first season. Uh, he was very, very viable, very good some days, some days not so so good. No, he was fine, I think, Uh again, he look, he came here, and I still believe he put everything he had into it, and so I don't have any issues
with you know how it ended here with him. You know, he said thank you, he was appreciated, he was grateless on the on the radio, and when we had him on he was awesome. So no, I have I had zero, zero, zero issues with him leaving and if he left to go get six figures at West Virginia. Then holy hell, why the hell wouldn't you exactly right, exactly so, no, no, no problems with it whatsoever. I thought, you know that that's that's what we
that's what it's become. I'm who we talked about that. We've been talking about that with you know, with the day we talked about it with um Tommy, and I'm sure you know at some point we had a similar conversation with Jed Fish. I mean, that's just what you're dealing with. My whole thing is, I know we won't talk about maybe Jed when we have a chance of Jed. I know we didn't talk about this with with Tommy. But to me, the most difficult thing in today's world of kids being
coached, how do you coach a kid who's making that much money. That's a good point. I mean that's a really good point. I mean, what do you what do you What can you say to them? Right? I could say, you won't continue to get that money if you don't continue to improve. Yeah, because they're not going to pay somebody on the bench x amount of money. Right? Does it make sense? Total sense?
It's kind of like can work if you don't. If you still't sell twelve cards after selling ten cards a previous month, right, you're not gonna get paid. No, I know you're one hundred percent correct. You're one hundred percent correct. One more less call? All right, Hi, you're on the air and I on the ball. How's everybody doing today, Ryan? What is up? Well? Just the usual everybody you know, worries about the basketball team. And they I don't even think they've had a practice yet.
How they part. I think they've gone together. But you're right, you're right. I'm sitting They're going, let's kind of worry about this and uh, maybe will worry about it in the middle of December, see how this things go. Because people are gonna realize, Okay, we don't get off to that twelve and one thirteen and one start, people are going to freak out. But we've got an unbelievable schedule this year and it's not going
to be a probably won't be a thirteen and one start. Maybe we'll go eight and five, but still be a better team than we have in the last two years. And Tommy talked about that, you know, he was he was asked, you know, about working, you know, playing those games. You just said, we love playing those games. You want to play those games, you know. And I think the fans are going to be, you know, so much more excited by it, whether they're at
home or on the road or whatever neutral site. But at least we know we're not playing the Sisters of the Part or in New Mexico State, you know somebody like that. Yeah. Yeah, Instead, you know, I'd rather play the Dukes and possibly lose or whatever, but that's only going to make us a better team in the long run, no question, no question. And that doesn't get into you wins in March, but it gives you a better opportunity to see what you need to do in March, right right,
and I'll prepare you for the conference. It might be better. Yes, I agree, totally agree. Yeah, okay, all right, Brian, you have a good weekend too, thanks to budd turned out to be a pretty good week. You had some pretty good guests. Yeah. Yeah, if ever written any of them down or we had one yesterday. There was very good shoes, a lot of fun. Yeah, Um, bend
of Beard. We had to do a Barnes earlier in the week. Um, we got some some a little clarity on what some of these UH groups are that are that are helping get money too to the athletes where we had Adam Lazarus from UH from Arizona assists on UM. We got to find somebody from from the UH from the collective Wilbur and Wilma friends of Wilburn and Wilma Collective and get talked to them and a lot of stuff. I you know,
we were we were on campus today. So we put in some requests for some some players and some coaches and things like that that we hope to be able to pull in sometime over the next several weeks or whatever. So um, it's you know, it's the summer, man, it's middle of
summer. Got to find ways to keep everybody entertained. But I appreciate the Jed Jed Fish Tommy Lloyd of for what the news conference today talks about a lot of good stuff covered a lot of good things, and they think we've got a lot of clarity I think on a lot of the stuff going on around the program. I really, I really think that we did. Yeah. Uh, the trip to to we haven't talked about. So they're going to Israel, early August, one of those international things. He thought they
played maybe three games over there. It's more about life experiences, right, And he talked about that, you know that. He said they didn't do that at Gonzaga the whole time, but he's looking forward to doing that. He got put together. Did you play that two sided? The summer is not a great place, he played, it's not here, and then that it's not hot and Spokane, and so they weren't they weren't anxious to leave Spokane because of the heat. So they're gonna go to Israel. They're still
putting the whole thing together, but it sounds like it's early August. They're they're gonna be going on this trip again. As he said, life experience, but also a chance. These are the things where you know, guys can you know, sort of kind of bond a little bit, and and those kinds of things. Loue used to do those all the time. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, more fun trips than than than anything. Yeah yeah, okay, okay, all right, Well, thanks for being here all
week, Jason. Nice job today, and we'll see everybody on Monday.
