This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jacnzalis on Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services Ensure your most Prized Possessions, katz R two SAD and I Heart Radio Station. Yet You're good. Afternoon, everybody. Welcome to I on the Ball. You're on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivero. He's Jagons. Also got our guy Jason and today welcome to Friday. Pretty good show slated for today. See what happens. We made it, we did it, we did it and all. It's been a
long week. Maybe, yeah, it feels like it right then here today, Yeah, it feels like it was a long Do you get in another week off? I got threatened, I got tould to not take any more weeks off by whom You're gonna disown me? Who your mother, listeners and stuff? You know? Oh really think come on, man, get your butt on the radio. This test that theory. Yeah. No, Well, I'm taking some more days off for the July STI coming. Yeah, Labor Day, Labor Day, Yeah, yeah. Well that's that's football season,
Libertay, that's Liberty. We're in San San Diego. Right last year, last year. So we'll see. We'll see. Hey, it's my boss is a good dude. I like him, so we'll see what he says. You know who my boss is? You exactly. He's a good dude. He's a good dude. It's a good dude. And did you look pretty today? Where you go? I'm going out to play tonight after right after the show. Did your wife know? You know? Yeah, she knows. We're going to a grown up dinner. Oh oh, so
she's going. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna go hang out with some grown ups today. Good. Spend a little time with my grandson this morning. He peeped on me once, change your shirt? I hope I had it? Did you turn it over? He yelled at me once, but he was you know, he was good. That won't be the first time I'll be lost time. Oh no. And it was a fun. Yeah, you know, he's a he's a cool kid. Okay, Jason, you're ready to call it a day? Weekend, yep, looking forward to the
weekend. Gonnest, how much I don't watch baseball that much? So well, I watched a little bit college rule serious today, oh TCU any of it. Oral Roberts was a fantastic game. It was in the bottom of the ninth. I left, I left to come here. I don't know what happened. Check, I'll have to look. We're just breaking news. But what do we have to DAYJ Well, we're gonna have some fun. We're we haven't talked to Sugar Sulls really all week. Pat Paris is going
to join us. He's my broadcast partner on the YouTube broadcast of all the games. So they've got another big game this week, Steve. You know, they're six and four. They're tied in the lost column for first place. So you've got Bay Area at seven and four. The Sugar Skulls and Rattlers are six and four. They're trying to get into one of the top two spots to host a playoff game, in one of the top four spots to be in the playoffs. So um, but they've got San Diego coming
in. San Diego beat him last last time they were here, scored on the last playoff regulation on Hail Mary, got it into overtime and won the game. So a little little revenge factor there, but more than anything, just another game that because Sugar Skulls have to win. They got to take care of business at home. That's funny. You talk about the games being at the last second heave or last second score. I mean every game and
the night. Every game is like every game is like that. You know, last last game, they had an extra play after the clock ran out to decide the game because there was a non time play because of a penalty. Uh tackle the quarterback right before he got to the end zone. He fumbled the ball into the endzone. Sugar Skulls recovered it. A review showed that the ball did not make it too to the goal line before he fumbled
it. So the Sugar Skulls won the game. They score touched on there or they get another shot at it and uh and uh you know, they win the game. So I'm just reading this with about Zion Zion Williamson. So let's a super second that and we'll put it into whatever business you want to to both of you guys. Um, you're you're working hard. You know, sometimes you mess up, sometimes you don't, but you're working hard
and your company. Um Gep will Zeph says, you know, Jay, Uh, maybe not tell you, but you find out we're trying to trade you. We're trying to trade you. Uh and yeah, and you're a pretty good you're a pretty good employee blah blah blah, but uh, ZEP wants to trade you. Um, how would you feel about it? It depends. I sort of got traded when I was a t How did it feel good? Because I wanted to get out of I got I got traded
to one of our subsidiary commies. Okay, and uh and you know, but not because well, you didn't feel back the day didn't want you. You just wanted out. Yeah. I felt like I kind of kind of hit the ceiling at t ep um. I wasn't going any further than I was there, and so I kind of rolled the dice and thought, a fact, you know this solar company that TP was a part owner of, if I went over there and that company hit it big that uh um, you know that it would be great. And it was a roll of the
dice. So I was happy, right, So it depends on your situation. I mean, if you're if you're playing for the Colorado Rockies right now, and somebody says we're gonna trade you the you know, the Dodgers or the Diamondbacks or you know, the Astros or something like that. You gotta be happy, don't you. Yeah, it just depends on your situation. So now, if you feel like you've got a great situation going and they say we're trading here, you go, what the hell did I do?
Yeah, so that's just Japan. Zion's in that situation. I guess I'm gonna have even been to attention. Yeah where where he's he's been kind of a lucy goosey, hasn't played a whole lot of games over the last two or three years, injuries or whatever, and then he comes up with this kind of kind of selacious type of story. Uh so they've they've been trying to shop him around, and now he's kind of disgrunted with the organization because, uh, what do you think they should do? Of course they're gonna
try to get you've been You've been kind of worthless to them. They've invested a whole hell of a lot and you've gotten anything. This is not on them, This is on you. What'd you think? Yeah, what I saw from the reports, they don't really have a relationship the organization is Zion. He's kind of doing his own thing with his own cam and the like, and are doing their own thing, so there's no like communitytion there. So of course they're gonna, you know, want to move on from him.
And if he doesn't want to be around the team or you know, being involved, and it hasn't been, he really hasn't. It has been for all this time. And how do you it's hard to fix that marriage. Yeah, if it's fixable at all. Right, No, you know, in a situation like that, it's probably best for both to make the change, to get to get out of the business, right yeah, right, So we'll see what happens with it. I just found that interesting than
just how you guys would feel. Um, I'm like you, I said, if you don't want me, let's let me, let me go somewhere. Yeah, you know, I kind of you know, I kind of did that from when I went from McDonald's to work at Spencers at the mall. Yeah, that's a good example. I took my talents to Park Mally, Yeah, where there'd be more girls going to the posters. Well, i'll tell you what there was that there was that I got. I got
into Nickel and our salary dispute at McDonald's and took my talents elsewhere. You left when there were silly millions. That was a good burger flipper man. It was really good at to this day. It's a skill that I cherished. So all right, second hour, Pat Harris is three to fifteen. Second hour. We've been waiting to get this guy for a long time because you know, you and I got to cover him when he was at Arizona
back in the you know, eighties and nineties. Dwayne A. Keena who joined the coaching staff last year after after David what's his name the stafford guy? Uh David Shaw and uh so Keena was available. Uh Jed Fish snapped him up. He's here as a secondary coach. He's not technically a coach. He's an analyst because you you know, you got the limit on the number of coaches. You know, it's just a matter of time before a
spart off. But you know, coach A King is aged. Yeah, yes, I looked at you know, I was looking for a picture of him to put on our on our social media, and he was an old guy in all the pictures. It's all great. Yeah, we's gotta be sixty four ish sixty five, you know, but you know, a great guy. Um just uh good storyteller. Yeah, good storyteller and incredibly uh enthusiastic and just a fun guy. One of the fun guys to cover.
He was the defensive coordinator, uh back you know, back when you know, and and the secondary coach, secondary coach, you know when I was covering the team, Um, and I know you covered it later and he was and he was doing some other stuff. He was the offensive coordinator at one point. Yeah, okay, so but he was the offensive coordinator for
a period of time. So I mean he you know, he's been around the block a bunch of times, but if he was just really really really always been around he coach Texas with yeah he was over there with he went, he was at Arizona, he was a Texas, he was at Stanford. Um, you know, he's he's been around the block many times, but you know, always a great guy. Still seems to be the same enthusiastic guy. If he saw some of his his interviews and the season last
year, they were very good. I mean, he's not he's not Bill Walton Nike where you asked him a question and you have to wait seven hours to get the next question. But he's kind of like that where he tells the story from beginning to end. Well, he's got so many stories, right, and he's coached some pretty good guys. I mean he's been, he's been, he's been a college coach. I think I ready's been a college coach. I think forty years. He's sixty six years. Yeah,
right, it's about right. You know we're old. I mean it's harder hard to figure out the times. Remember back in the day, man, there were so many coaches, you know, someone was so many great personalities. Pat Hill. Uh, they're Keena, Uh the kid, the guy who went to Utah McBride. Yeah, Mark Lunsford. Lunsford, you know we had him on the show. People loved his interview. Yeah, Mark, Mark was a great guy. Mark was Mark was grouchy, but Mark
was fun. Yeah. You know you could tell he you could sit down and have a beer with him and talk some stories. Pat Hill, Pat Hill, when when one of the times on a road trip that we were having beers with with the coaches, told it great story about um oh god darning. Oh no, it wasn't. It wasn't. No, it was a bob dobbs. It wasn't even on a road trip because it had been after the call. There was a lineman. There was a defensive lineman. I can't remember his name. He'll come to me. Hi, you're on
the r and I on the ball. So with sim Williamson, like he's eating himself, you know, too out of the league. So that's a lack for him of trying. And it seems like he's more Team Nikes than he teamed anybody, which would be his justice brand. And the thing is by training him, his number is too high. And then they know you want to get rid of him. Plus that baby mama drama and speaking up eating yourself, out out of yourself, out of him, out of a
contract. Excuse me down, um, but he Nicky McDonald's we you know, the movie is like flaming high and they stereotype Mexican Americans like wanting hot food, which is not always the case. I know he did good by that damn movie and that that man, but we don't want han spicies. You tell your boy controller that we want regulary kick. That's the whole reason for this call. I'm still advocating I would forget I too closed with that, and until he changes it, I'm a strike from McDonald's and I eat
a lot. So it's a little Danny control o budget, know what I mean? Man, Michael, how many tensents did you go on? I don't even know where to begin. But with Zion, it's amazing because remember those clips we saw maybe five six years ago, just how crazy good he was and all the things you could do with being a big guy. And then he does a little bit of duke and then they flamed out and now he's hearing we haven't got to see much of that. No, he hasn't
lived up to the pill and eat all. He is his potential when he's on the courtyards a piece. But the way he plays, he's like how we talked about running back. He is in a very limited time span. You don't fight yellow bananas, you fight green bananas. He's past being green and the way he plays and the way that he carries by getting his contract, he's taught me the name or maybe somewhere maybe scan Antonio. I'm not saying they're gonna trade their first round pick, but parm with that first round
pick and somebody like talking with him into shape. But honestly, he's out a league and he's a yellow banana. He's getting little dark spots on him, like you guys like you Okay, Bruce easily, baby all right, Mike A man, thank you an listening to us, Thank you, Mike. Okay. Thing with Chuck Osborne, Pat Hill told them stories about Chuck Osbourne. He was he was a defensive lineman on the Desert Desert and he was just talking about what a crazy dude that guy was. But just that
whole era of coaches. Yeah, well we had time with them too. We get to spend time with those guys with it. I mean we you know, we played poker with them on the road. Right, that's too
much information stuff like that. But yeah, no, they were fun and then and then you know and they you know, we trusted them, they trusted us, and everything was just fine, just like well, you know what it all started to me at least because it was a little after you was Douglas, because we'd go to that yeah, hang out, hang out at at Carson's whatever it was. I just remember, I think the place
is called car Shoot shoot the shoot the stuff, shoot Pool. And butch Henry would put all those country music songs on the on the juke bole and just kind of started. We go there for like a week or so, get infested by the fire, and then that's where you get to know each other, right, and and then you had a good working relationship. Yeah, we're back on that soapbox. We get on that all the time. Yeah. Well, maybe one of these days, all right, maybe one
of these days. All right, Well, let's let's go take our break. Let's let's get Pat Paris on the phone. We're gonna talk some Sugar Skulls. They've got a they've got a big game coming up on tomorrow night. Uh, San Diego strike first coming in. Uh. It's a rematch of a game earlier in the year that San Diego won in overtime. It's a big game for the for the Sugar Sculls. They gotta they gotta keep winning to keep positioning for the playoffs. So we'll be right back with Pat
Paris. I mean, I heart radio app. This is I on the Ball with Steve Ribera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. Hey, welcome back to Why on the Ball. You're on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jake. Now in the phone, we have Pat Paris from the Sugar Skulls played by play and the partner of my partner, Jay Gonzoz. Pat, Howie, I'm done pretty well?
Uh, you know, we got a game tomorrow, you know what, jail back me up. It's so much easier to do a game when you just did a game the previous Saturday. So you know, not that we don't study. We study, and you still have to study for this game too, but at least you're more familiar and it's really fresh in your mind. Yeah. And and the you know, the team's changed a lot from week to week. Do they have a lot of change? You've you've every team done, no, no, but two or three new guys you know
each week? Oil, Yeah, okay, you know because guy, you know, guys getting injured on ir and stuff like that, and then the other team comes in like we had, Well, how many guys did I have in my starting lineup on my board last week? Pat? That weren't even there for five or six or the other guys. I mean, my thing was all marked up. But I just looked at that. I just looked at San Diego though, and their whole offense is the same as their
defense. There's only like two guys. Yeah, they've changed a lot in five or six weeks. Let me ask you having to deal with Jay here for a while now, I'm sure you guys on a scale of one to ten fun, how much is it fun? And then how much of it is work? Oh, it's on a scale of one to ten. It's a it's an eight and a half winner lose, it's a ten if they win. Uh, And the work part of it doesn't seem like much at
all. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Yeah, you know we I mean, like said Pats, I mean like I spent a good a portion of my Saturday mornings, you know, going through the players and that kind of stuff. Well, when that's done to me, the rest of it is fun. You know, at the game. It's one hundred percent fun where you know, we're having a good time to go down there, talk to the coaches, talk to the players and all that. So let me do you have Do you each of you have a signature line? Um?
I mean I think the way I call touchdowns is for night today say Tucsons sugar skull touchdown, and other than that, there's not like a signature line. I don't think it just kind of all comes forth. I think if your scripted or you think too much about it, uh, then it then it comes across that way. Um. You know, I just make sure Jay has some mini donuts and he's ready to go and go and goes. Yeah. You know. My whole thing is I have to focus on
not swearing. Yeah, of course you are here. That's that's my focus. I just don't cuss, and I haven't yet. So knock on what knock on wood? So we got a big game tomorrow. Pat. Uh, you're mentioned that the last time San Diego is Here's that a game that they threw a hail Mary right on the last play of the game, got into overtime and then won the game. Um. I think those things are kind of I don't know how much. How much do you think those things
hang on the players? Oh well, I hope I hope that they haven't forgotten about it and they've been waiting all this time to get back at the at the at the sky Force because the Strife Force. Because here here's the thing. I hope that all week in practice instead of just you know, a one minute drill at the end of practice, I hope at the end of practice they're lining up and throw a ball, making sure the defensive backs remember to knock it down, right, that's all they have to knock it
down. If they knock that ball down, which we all know that done, they win that game instead of going to double overtime and losing it. So yeah, I you know, all kidding aside, I hope that they remember that. And it's still you know, kind of rubs them the wrong way, and they're and they're upset and angry and and that's a game that you never should have lost. But now you have an opportunity again at home
to take on the same team that you are better than. Let's let's be on, they are better than the Strike Force, and they need to win this game in order to stay solidly in a playoff spot. So if they do that, then you know they'll take their business and they'll have an excellent chance to make a close season again. So let me ask you. You guys, you've been through the two years or three So can you say that the team the team now has gotten better into three years? Do teams get
better in the three years? Oh? I think so? I think what what you know? Right out of the gate, and Jay knows because he was there in the first year. Right out of the gate, they were pretty good, right, and it's it's not easy to be pretty good. In fact, going to the playoffs, they were the first I think the IFL team to ever go to the playoffs in their first season. I think it may have been done. They were the first one. So they were pretty good and and and then you saw them kind of kind of, you
know, maintain that but not really get a whole lot better. But I think jayill probably back me up. The difference about this team is they are so much better defensively, and that makes it so that even though their offense isn't maybe as good as it was last year, they're still winning more games than they're losing. And every game is going down, you know, going
down to the wire. So they're they're in every game. I mean there was you know, there was the game a couple of weeks ago where they you know, they got down or jeez, I can't remember who was. They're all blending into one, but they got down nineteen to nothing. They were never out of the game, but they you know, they they didn't come back and win it. But you know what I see, Pat, And then let me ask you, let me ask it this way. You know what we're in this year? What fourth year? Or now? What?
What do you who do you think the Sugar Skulls are both as an organization and then maybe even you know, on the field, what do you is there? Do we have the definition of that yet? Do you think? I think it's still a work in progress as far as defining it goes. There's one thing the Sugar cells Skulls have been and maybe it's because of the personnel, and that's they've always been a team that runs the football as well and power football. And that probably has to do with the fact that
Mike Jones has been the feature back for all four years. He's the face of the franchise. But I think that I think the the the you know, the image of the team UM as being maybe the second best, you know, a team in Arizona, although with Northern Arizona winning it last year, maybe they were the third best team last year in the IFL. But as kind of as kind of the second team in Arizona, I think they're starting to mold a you know, an identity that says, no, we're
tough, um We're we're We're not Phoenix, We're Tucson. We can have our own identity, identity and that's just fine too. And I think that identity he starts with running the football, and now it's taking on an identity of a defensive minded team, a team that can keep you in games because of defense. And maybe that's more of a blue collar mentality that I like, you know, I like to see that. I really I think maybe that's more appropriate for Tucson is to be a little more blue collar than than
some of the flashy you know, Bay Area or Phoenix can be. Yeah. So, And the difference because you guys have had three different coaches right each of the years have been the third coach and the third coach, and they're all affable pretty much. Yeah right, Yeah, every one of them has been very, very very good to deal with him, and that sure helps with your with your jobs. Oh, there's no question. And I think you know, as good as each one has been, they've all been.
They've all been a little different personality wise. But you know, the thing that's about hurt his chin and this year is said coach. He just has this infectious smile, an infectious personality. He's always he's upbeat. Even a lot, he still finds a way to to, you know, put a smile on it and put a spin on it. I think he's been a real pleasure to work with. I think we knew that going in that he was going to be a lot of fun to deal with, and he
has that. Yeah, no doubt so. Pat In terms of you know, I got to ask you that was you know, I followed you. I went on Justin Show on Monday and they asked me, you know, Ali said something about, you know, we need a game that doesn't go down to the last second or the last play or an extra play. They asked me, you know how we handle that? I said, I get stomach ache. I get a stomach ache, you know from from the game
just all knot it up. You know, we haven't had an easy game, you know, because you just get so tensed up with the excitement of it. And that's how I that's how I feel about it. I don't know how you take those, but I mean, we need an easy game, don't we. I would love an easy game. It's that simple. I would love an easy I would love a game where they get it, they get up by nineteen and then just kind of coast with it, you know, three two to three score lead, you know, all the way
the rest of the way. Um, I don't know that. I get stomach aches, but I'm worn out by the end that that and you you know, you feel like you played the game in a way and we did. We don't obviously we're just standing up in a in a booth, but you you just you get, you get emotionally spent, and you get, you know, physically, you're just kind of dream Yeah. You know, we've had a team that's that's six and four, but remember they've only won
what two games at home? They got to win more. They got they gotta win more, and we need to we need to see that continue the rest of the way. And wouldn't you just love to see a post just FJ gets more stomach aches. I'd like to see a home game in the postseason, you know, Pat, You know, because I was thinking last
week's game, the last sixteen seconds took like twenty minutes. It was, you know, because there were there were there were three three challenges, There was a pile up in the in the corner of the end zone for a fumball. There were a bunch of different calls, all kinds of it took it took forever to get to the end of that, and you just gnawed it up the whole time because everything was writing on that. I mean, I felt if they lost that game, you know, last Saturday, they
were in big trouble for the playoffs. Yeah, and I think you and I are both done trying to predict what they're going to call on those replaced too, because what we see and what they see are clearly two different things. But uh, you know, it's it's part of the game. At
least they have instant replay, let's put it that way. And and I and I'm I'm thankful for that, but yeah, they take forever sometimes, and you know that's just the nature of the beach when you have to run all the way down to the other end of the field and look at the monitor, and you know, get calls. But you know, I think in the end, it all, it all worked out for the Sugar skull last week, and that's all that matters. I guess is they they win it. They find a way to win it, and now they're on a
little bit of a role. Yeah, Pat, if I could we have some time here four minutes or so. I don't know you all that well, you were here before. I think you're a native. I could be wrong. You left, you came back, and now you've made a two sound of home again. Could you tell me what's your thoughts on the fan base when you were here, then you left, and now you're back, not so much to the Sugar Sculls, but just as a whole, well, you know, as a whole. I think this has always been a
really good college sports town. And yeah, I grew up here, went away and my parents have lived here the entire time, so I came back a lot. So this has always been my home base and my home We moved back about seven a little over seven years ago, and you know, what I've noticed is things like anyway and and basketball's king and football. You
know, we all route hard football and it is what it is. But what I've noticed really is with the two Sound road Runners and now the two Sound Sugar Skulls, um there's there's a real reason to go down to Tucson Arena, and you get a core fan base for both of those teams. And some of them are same fans. I mean, it's to be honest, some of them road Runner fans and Sugar Skulls fans are probably the same, the same fans, but they're really passionate and uh, they really get
a lot of entertainment for their for their buck because it's it's affordable. And I think that's you know, kind of a hallmark of what the Roadrunners have been, and that's what the hallmark of what the Sugar Skulls are as great
value for your family and you're gonna have fun. And I just think it really helps Tucson and an image of Okay, they've got the Shell franchise for the for the Coyotes, and they've got the Sugar Skulls team something to do in the summer, and you know, maybe some all back and and that'll you know, be yet another maybe the cherry on top of the Sunday. But for right now, things are going pretty well and I and I for one, I'm really happy that we have this indoor football a team. Yeah,
it's it's it's been a lot of fun. I've enjoyed it, and I, for you, have had the fortune to even though I had that little little hiccup of a time as the you know in the front office that you know and ended badly for everybody, But you know, I've I've enjoyed being a part of the organization from from day one and I feel I feel good about it in terms of what it's done right. It's there. There's
never been time like there was. I you know, let's you know, the San Diego had a tough start, you know, the first part of the first season, and after that, you know, they wan't got off to a rough start, and to see them thriving now and doing so much better. They've beaten the shirts calls the last few times they've come to juice on, so uh, you know, it's it's kind of it's it's kind
of cool to be a part of this. I've I've enjoyed being being a big part of who say the games that the games are a lot of fun. I think for the both of us. Yeah, And I go back to I go back to Winton Guy. He first approached me. I know what made about. It might have been the Summer of Light seventeen and he said, you know, I really want to bring the team down to Tucson. What do you think? So we talked a little bit. Later we talked even more, and I just get the sense that Kevin knew that this
was the right fit for an Indoor Football League team. And I think he really likes Tucson because you know, kids going to U of A and they like spending time down here. And I think what that really did is that it added a lot of credibility to to Tucson having a franchise because Kevin Guy was involved. And Kevin Guy, of course everybody knows when he when he
was in the Arena Football League, they were winning championships. He helped make the call to move theres On Rattlers to the Indoor Football League and it was a brilliant move because the Arena Football it's gone now, it doesn't even exist. He made the right call to get that team into the league that he
thought was going to survive and thrive. And I don't think you know, maybe maybe you'll disagree, Jay, but I I don't think that the Inundoor Football League ever been better and more healthy, and I think it's better right now than then in the Arena League was, uh, you know, the last five seven years of that existence, it was really struggling. But I
think the IFL has got one now and it's working really well. And now you've got the championship games in Las Vegas and and everything's happening with sports in Las Vegas. So it's a great time to be in this indoor Football league. All right, Pat, appreciate you coming on today. I'll see you tomorrow. We'll uh we'll have some fun. Yeah, hopefully no stomach aches for you. He still thinks he's part of the team or something. Well, you know, hey, look, as we always say, Steve,
it's more fun coving a team that's winning the lose. That's right, all right, Pat, thanks again, appreciate it. All right, you guys, take care of From from the King on nine Group nine news anchor. But also you know, he did, I mean, he was he was a broadcaster for the Auld Arena Football League. You know, famously he covered the Barnstormers. He was there play by play guy with the Barnstormers, Kurt
Kurt Warner and all that period of time. Okay, he's got some history with him that that doesn't surprise me that when Kevin Guy was looking him to see if Tusson was a viable place for a team, that Pat Paris was one of the guys that he went to for that, because Pat, you know, Pat has that knowledge. I think it was a decent crowd last week. It was it was slow arriving crowds. So we were a little like, oh no, this looks bad. But by the thing, you know, by the time the game got going, you know, there are plenty of people there. Like the games are you know, two and a half, two
and two and three quarters out, two ours and forty five minutes. He see you're inside. Um, you know, you can get some tickets of decent prices. The arena small, so it's not a you know, there's all good. All the seats are good, and it's just NonStop, NonStop

So yeah, if you I mean, if you haven't gone off to get out there, check it out just once, right, just check it out one time and then make your decisions or whether or not you think it's something that you really want to keep doing. But uh, it's it's it's it's a lot of fun. Cool. Okay, again, if you want to call five two h four one, six seventy four forty and we're looking for to anything this weekend. No, oh, you know what I'm gonna do. I'm going to do something
a friend suggesting, because I don't. I don't cook out. I don't cook ever. It's it's it's a blue moon day when I cook. It's a blue dude. I get the I used to get the Yellow Pages, Now I get the Google. Uh. But I'm going to a cookout learn how to cook out from the barbecue grill. So I'm gonna do that. Fend of mine suggested, So I, you know, pay an X amount of money like class, Yeah, class to right all day. I'd have
to see. It's, um, it's a hundred bucks. You go and cook, prepare all these great steaks and chicken and blah blah blah, and then you get to eat what you make. And if you want to pay me a hundred dollars like yeah, you can go to my house so I eat cola or something. I don't want to do that. I'm excited because I don't do this. I'm not like one of those mister mom, mister dad dudes. I'm just not um. You know. By the time I turned seventy. Maybe I'll learned something now, you know what. I love
grilling. It's it's a lot of fun. But as as our family that's lived in our house has reduced to just my wife and I, Um we we do I do? I do my I do my steaks now on a on a ninja foodie, you know, on a pressure cooker and they're awesome. Or I air fried actually and that's awesome. That's kind of the thing that comes out perfect. But I do love grilling. We are going to
grill this weekend my son's coming. Although I had to put my I had to put my gas grill out to the rush and bulky this week it died. What's where you put out? Like? You know, oh you do you live in the city. Yeah, in the city price a year.
You can put stuff just junk out on out on the curb and they'll come and get it, like if you've trimmed your trees, or if you've got a washing machine, or in our case, you know, my my gas grill one of the legs fell off of it, and I don't feel like I don't feel like I can turn it on anymore without running a risk of exploding. So we just put it out there and they come in a lot of times guys will just come and take you know, for because they can
fix them or whatever. Guy you know, trucks come around and pick up your stuff. But if it's if, if it's still there, when when the garbage guys come around, the sanitation guys come around, they take it. They'll take anything. They'll take a lot of couches and couches. Um desk. We put a desk out one time in the city, in the city, you know, two times a year. We just had this, uh this last week. But so I've got to go get a charcoal grill for for Saturday, for Sunday. But we'll grill. I'll get to go
get some uh Mexican steaks that uh I say Mexican stakes. They're marinated um you know, uh at the one of those Mexican carna setias over by our house. And we'll do some steaks and some chicken and probably some beans and some macaroni macaroni salad and some salsa and some tortillas. Do you know where to go this weekend? Am I making hungry man? Just tick tick to you uber down to Jay's place. Yeah, Hey, you know, we
take all commers. Somehow invited my sister, which one you're laying, I don't know how that has shot at the house today and I said, you want to come over? And then I'm like, oh, it's you. No, I make fun of her. So but you know, we do, we do the we do the We're gonna golf, my Adam and are gonna golf. No. Seven o'clock in the morning. Man, it'll beautiful attic canyon out of atonic canyon. Man up against them. That's welcome to the sports writers world. If you get to get up at nine, you're
good, okay, because you're probably late night guy. Yeah, that's how. It's why people don't understand those hours. Yeah, so get to golf at night, seven o'clock in the morning. We'll be done by noon. We'll come back watch the rest of the US Open barbecue and that'll be the day. Got Sunday, Sunday tomorrow. I gotta prep. I got a prep for sugar Scots. Well, I think I'm gonna go to tell you now, I'm gonna go see uh see your your buddy. You look like
this weekend. But yeah, yeah, all right, I've seen it a few times. Yeah, yeah, I've got I've got his first two csch which awesome. It's all kind of like all the same. But yeah, well you know those first well that's why you know those first two. Listening to those, I felt like you lived in my house. Ye yeah, didn't he Sure he lived in my house. We had the same dad, we had the same mom, We had the same aunts and uncles, we
had the same brothers. People, I don't know what your kids, they probably didn't experience that because you're more uh, you're Americans, that's the same. I didn't know what to say. I'm way more Caucasian than my parents were. That's kind of where I wanted to go without saying that because we were not we were probably spoiled from the previous people. But no, let me say, put dirt on and get out there and go out and you
know, come back when come back, when you come back. You know, there was no dinner bell, there was you know, eat the hose, drink from the hose, blah blah blah. The kids today you're like, oh, he neglected me. No, shout up. We just don't care about you. I shouldn't tell this story about my my dire departed mom, but I will and dad, did you ever listen to or hear the the skit about when his it was either his uncle or his dad was having
a heart attack, And and he's and he's telling the little kid. He's telling George, you know, go, you know, go get your mom. You know, I'm having a heart attack. He keeps going, I have a pain in my chest and I can't brief. He's telling the kid to go to go get his mom to take him to the hospital. And so he goes and the mom is talking to the neighbor over the fence, and the mom keeps him to just get the hell away, and he just stands here and wait, and he waits and he waits, and then finally
he gets her attensive. You know, I think his grandfather or uncle or whatever's happening. He has a pain in his chest. So she goes in and gives him mother craft and they're take him the hospital. My dad fell off a roof. Okay, we we had a rental house down the street. My dad was doing something on the cool or anything, and I was I went over there with him. He fell off the route hold. I'm
fine, maybe six He falls off the roof right. He broke his foot, he broke his ankle, and he couldn't get up, and he tells me go home and get your mom. And I couldn't get my mom to leave to come and help my dad until after her soap opera was over. That's like, that's a chat. That's a we call it. That's a the woman who the who do you call it? The channel where we watched all the type of dayline no, no, no deadline, but the other one it was up, h slashed or dad. He'll be okay, okay,
I'm like, my dad's hurt. I'll be there in a minute. I'll be there in a minute. Fifteen minutes later, you know, as the world turns ends. And then she goes and gets them and he had to go to the hospital. He had surgery and the whole bit. So he was laid there on the concrete with a busted ankle. I'm sure he was mad at me, thinking I hadn't done my job to get my mom
go help him. They put his thing. And this is kind of not applying to that, but my grandfather of my mom said that I stayed with them for a little bit, like a week, or something, and he was I didn't know this, so he said, go get me in my boots through the through the pink ones in the closet. So okay, I'm fibered. Like you go in the closet, couldn't find any boots when we told them, they're not there. You know, yeah, blah blah blah, you go back and find them. Pop, there's not there. They're
not there. Well, he, like me, were color blind, so so what the hell I'm looking for Peak Peak boots? What the hell lit Peak boots? They were green, they were combat there were boots. They were boots. That is now I know where I get my color blood in this now. But anyway, well guy, we went off at the Tangent there with George Lopez. I love I love his his conversations about going to Disneyland, Yeah, going to Dodger Stadium. I mean again, he lived
in our house. He talks about his the backyard, wedding, all that stuff. It's it's hilarious stuff. We knew. I knew all the characters. Somebody goes the emergency rooms, so the whole family goes that. That whole thing, Oh god, every bit of that. I think it's more applies to a lot of small talents too, or small neighborhoods. Yeah, like, you know, just small and not where you live now. We're
probably where I live now, but it's small. But you know, growing up, you know, my my family, my cousins, and you know, we kind of all lived in the same area. Yeah, and everybody knew everybody's you know, and you went to everybody's house, and every holiday it was a family reunion. Everybody went to one place, you know, whether Easter or Christmas. Oh god, Christmas Eve at our house. It's crazy, you know. I'll say this about my mama, who I love
very much and still a life. So I don't know if this happens to you. You go see your relatives. She goes in first, obviously, and then then I go in or whatever? Did you say hello to your grandmother? I mean, mom, I'm not even in the door. I'm not even in the door. Can I just get in the house first? Small? Yeah you don't. Oh yeah, can you say, dude,
don't tell everybody. I haven't even got into damn place. And then how about how about it at the end, Okay, we're leaving, Yeah, okay, we're leaving so we finished doing whatever we're playing, I can go seek or whatever. And then we're standing there by the door, and another thirty minutes, yeah, right, another thirty minutes. They're standing there talking and saying goodbye as we couldn't play another thirty minutes. And that the thing about that is we do that now, we did that to our kids.
We say we're leaving, and then you know, half an hour later we finally leave. But there was all that thing too, So growing up, man, growing up, I know, And you know what, dude, there's a lot of people out there who can relate to you, who can relate to I mean, some of these guys are called don and some of those guys I know that they that they grew up like we did with all of that stuff. Um, you know, I mean there were times I went to my grandmother's house and I never even went in the house. We
just stayed homeside. We just stayed outside because the little kids weren't supposed to be in in the house. Yeah, we were not supposed to be in that My my, my grandma's places were LA grew up. Oh yeah, you know, you know you I've never run faster to house to house that midnight or ten o'clock, because you knew that she was out there ready to get you. Honestly scared the crap out of me. They're filming one now in Santa in Santa ba area. I think you were a version of it.
I wouldn't even you know what with all the special effects and stuff they might do did it wasn't very good. Okay, it was based in La. The last one I saw was the black and white one. Yeah, yeah, no, no, no. It was very scary because it wasn't really it wasn't realistic. But you know, you got to get by a lake and the water and blah blah blah. This was a swim poole. What they should tell us in Santa Cruz River there's never there's never water in
the Santa Cruz. How can she be over there if there's no water in there? How can she possibly be over there? Well, she's there, she's there. You don't even know who we're talking about. If you don't know who Donald Summer is, you surely don't know. Look it up. Day Jodona is l L O R A NA. She doesn't see She just yells and weeps. In Wales and scares the crap out of people. Yeah, legend, legend, Yeah, they Jodana was in the sac cuiser.
I'm like, there's no water in there, just in the flooding distance. There's no water over there. All right? Okay, okay again, who you have doing a key Duanne Keena coming up? Talks to him, Uh, talks to him. Knew you of a football, but you know, maybe talks about when he was when he was here, you know. And I he was on one of the Rose Bowls, the Texas Rose. He was a coach on the Okay, wasn't he or was I don't know, I can't remember. You know, if he's talk if he went to a
Rose Bowl without me, I'm gonna be really mad. You have to ask him about the exers. I talked to him a bounty year ago. You guys had me do the Ormando Rio story. He was one of the guys I spoke to because he was close to Ormando when he played back in the eighty lady eighties, nineties. Um, okay, And you have a lot of breaking news too. There's a lot of stuff going on. You see that you baseball softball get a new coach. I didn't know they're looking for
one. Oh a, uh yeah, just hitting coach, Yeah, hitting who they have before? I don't know, they must have had one before. I'm guessing that's I didn't hear who left. I didn't either, Okay, I don't know. Okay, just because Taron Mohat was such a you know, kind of legend type person. Here yea and yes dayn Na Keena was on was a coaching at Texas when they went to the Rose I'm gonna yell at him for having gone to a Rose Bowl without me. Right,
Well, you said you would have said come with me to Texas. That's the only way you're gonna get there. I can't believe even Texas has been doing a Rose Bowl in Arizon. They're not even in the league. Steve, You're destined to not go to a Rose Bowl. We'll get there one day. Crap, Jason, I'm running out of time. Jason. The clock is ticking. Yeah, clock is ticking. Okay, right, let's hit the road. We're gonna come back. We're gonna breaking news with Jason.
A bunch of stuff going on. We've got some suspensions and some more, some more rumor and innuendo and all kinds of things, so uh, we'll be right back for breaking news. The whole else coming together
