Streaming live on the iHeart Radio WAP. This is I on the Ball with Steve Ribera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty. They welcome back to On the Ball hero Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve, He's Jay. Now we have Jason with breaking news. This is High on the Ball breaking news. Former Arizona start pitcher Danielle O'Toole as they knew Cal Golden Bears pitching coach. Oh, she's a pitching coach. Oh, I guess that makes sense, right, so she got hired assistant coach. I guess it would
have thought you the pitching. Yeah, no, good for her. It was really good for her. We've had her on the show. She pitched last time. Well she was a pro, I think, but pitch for Team Mexico, right for the Rex right, um, so good for her. Good, yeah, good for her. Former Arizona All American Alisa Polomino Cardoza was recently elevated to a full time assistant at Oregon. Let's two today, right, both of these happened today? Yeah? Right? Yeah?
Nice? Nice? So you know against some Tree yep, Mike Andrea Tree going on at both Cal and Oregon. I wonder there's gotta be how your body knows this former UA who softball coaches players who are now coaches. I'll bet you there's about ten a rough estimate. Well, yeah, I mean there's a bunch of the whole bunch. Yeah. Arizona's built on him here.
Yeah, exactly After not getting drafted, mac Bingingham is opting to transfer to LSU to play for the coach that originally brought him Arizona, Jay Johnson. Yep, if you didn't really like him now or before, you don't like him now, hey, listener, Bill texted me and said, if you think I'm root for j Johnson, forget it. So you know, uh, but I mean, you know, somebody made the point I just
saw. It's a little bit of go on Twitter saying Okay, so you're upset at Jay Johnson for taking um, you know, some players from Arizona or the LSU. So are you upset at Adia Barnes when she brought a McDonald from Washington with her? Are you upset with Tommy Lloyd for bringing Umar Ballo with him. It's the same thing. It's just whether you're on the receiving or receiving or giving end of that. There's a phrase for that. I will not. Yeah, you know, Billsville City. You just kind
of wish that Jay Johnson would recruit somewhere other than corbit Field. Well, then he's probably saying, what did he recruit him? He must have recruited, must have Yeah. Well, and then Jay saying I'm the one that gave him. I brought him here, so I get to take him if he's ye uh. The Tennis Tennessee Football program has been issued at eight million dollars fine um for the participation of three three ineligible players in the twenty twenty
tacks like AATA Bowl. So they got They said that there were hundreds of instances of violations. And by that I mean like when when somebody coming on an official visit was getting paid. They were paying for the hotel room, they're paying for their meal, they're paying for the transportation. That was you know, probably five violations right there, and that there were hundreds of them. And this was over a long period of time. Um, Jeremy Pruett
was the coach at the time he got fired. They were just doing this and didn't care what the rules were. I read the whole um NC double a report on that and that they just didn't care. They said, we know there's rules, and we don't care what the rules are. We're doing We're doing this. They were bringing they would be having visits during the the
COVID dead time, just like they did, you know, JSU. They got pounded, but not bad because they excuse me that they had self reported a bunch of this, I took a bunch of scholarships away visit stuff like that. Yes, And additionally, the panel also prescribed a fine of five thousand dollars plus three percent of the football program's budget. So that's also all
right, So and then well that's what the a million dollars. Yeah, so then, um, they didn't What they did not do is they didn't give him a postseason a postseason ban, and that was because I think that was probably because all these guys are gone. Yeah, we're not going to punish the guys who are here, but we're going to punish the school a whole bunch. Well, they in fact that they could have been a lot worse, but they didn't. They could have been. Yeah, but it's
a five year probation. The character for Jeremy Pruett who's not employed right now. Is that he's got a six years show cause, meaning that for six years. You know that any job college sports related job that he gets, he has suspended for one year at least of that if he takes a job in that six years. So that's crazy. The Phoenix Suns TV deal with Great Television is now official. Great Television was that m that's not Bally Sports
right? No, so Balley Sports couldn't come to a deal with the Phoenix Suns. Um So, I guess Great Television and the Phoenix Suns have come to out television. Um contract? But what what channel is that? Mean? What work is that? I mean? Great Television is what I think? That's the company name. Yeah, that's the company names. I don't know, I'm not sure. Um all right? In other words, what what channel do you tune into find the Sun's game? Yeah? On Forward
because they were they had been on Valley. Yes, yes, but they can't come to an agreement with the Suns or the Phoenix Mercury. Um. So this is all the company Great Television guests steptain. They got the deal done right, Okay? Yeah? Uh? Dwyane Wade is joining the w NBA's Chicago's Chicago Sky's ownership group. So no, yeah, you know it's amazing that these players can buy go buy teams. Now, well, I
was just thinking that too. When you make a ton of money, and I kept a ton of tons of money into the millions, hundreds of millions of dollars, what you can do with your money? Go buy a team by team, by game, invested, you know, by property whatnot. So yeah, um Sabrina um And sets an all time w NBA and NBA record with thirty seven points in the final round with three point contest. Have you seen the video? No, okay, I went and saw the video.
Um. So you you know, you go around the perimeter of the three point line. So she starts in the corner. She misses the first shot, right, I thought, wait, wait a minute, how she got it? She hit twenty in a row, so she was all the way on the other side, missed one and then hit the last five. Rou Yeah, so she hit twenty five out of twenty seven within the time limit. That's crazy. You know, he had all the money balls, but she missed two and the and the one of the ones she missed was
the first one. So she hit twenty five over the next twenty six three points. Could you make two in a row, Steve? Could you make one in a row? Yes? How long? Okay? How long would it take you to make the first one? Oh? I don't know, ten seconds? No, I mean how many shots? Oh? Probably the first rack, somewhere in the first round. You could hit one in the first rack. First. But let's say the first five shots hit you get six racks? Thirty? Do you get three shots? Yeah? Oh I'm
making six? Maybe maybe six? Okay? How many? How long? I mean, how many shots would it take you to make your first one? Oh? I don't know, I don't know. Maybe four thanks to gauge, the gauge of distance and all that stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah fo yeah, doing my first one? Yeah? Am I warmed up? Or no? Am? I just like getting on the cordina? Um? No, you could take a couple and then you say, okay, now we're gonna time. You'll take the two y three?
Probably? Yeah, if I warmed up, I'm pretty good shot the thirty. How are you hitting? Um? Probably like twelve? Okay, really yeah, I'm a pretty good shotty of thirty. That's yeah, that's two out of seven and a half. If you're hitting, I'm doing the math. Yeah for what that's say? Okay that we uh no, that's that's twelve two out of five. It's two out of five. Yeah,
forty percent. You think you're forty percent shooter? Yeah, if nobody's covering you, no, yeah, definitely you all right, we're gonna we're gonna go do that. Yeah, we're gonna go do that. I want to lunch for that. Yeah. Sure, oh yeah, we're gonna go do that. We're gonna you're one of the you have a basketball pressers or something like that. We're gonna get you out there because you'll be around campus. Yeah, for sure, we're gonna get We're gonna we're gonna find this out.
He's not worrying the sneakers can't do it today. I'm always ready to go. All right. I feel like I would hit one out of ten. Okay, okay. Um. The Wimbledon final is going to be against Carlos Alcarez versus Novak Djokovic. I'm trying to win his like twenty seventh, twenty six or twenty seventh. Wow, um uh uh? What is trying to win a number twenty four Grand Slam title number twenty four, which I think is the record. Yeah as to be. Yeah, Okay, that's
all the breaking news I have for today. Okay. UM, I saw a couple of things. One and I don't know how we missed this because this was actually you know a column that will John Willard did a couple of days ago. Um. Bobby Robbins is now on the PAC twelve Um. Um what you call it the PAC twelve? Um got darn itt? Not board of directors. Yeah, maybe it's UH executive committee, the PAC twelve
executive meet which which is made up of three UH university presidents. It's it's now the Washington state president who took who took over as the board chair, Bobby Robbins took over for Washington's Anna Marie Kassi or something like that, whose term expired. And then it's Stanford's president Mark Tessie Levine, who's uh. And so they kind of they're the ones who kind of make recommendations and stuff like that send them to the full PACK twelve board, which is you know,
all the presidents and that's how decisions can be. But now Bobby Robins is on that Executive Committee. So so we've had doctor Robins on a number of times. Good guy, very accommodating. So let me ask you, a busy man, right yep, how much you think he enjoys this? Because uh, Shelton would not have been on this list. Uh Coffler probably not on this list. Uh, the Hispanic president. That was no, no, no, um uh oh god not such. What is his last name? That's what I know? Yeah, so we were no, right,
this guy, this guy loves this. A Likins was Likns was a sports Lisle. He was a sports guy. He loved this. He loves sports. But Robin again, Robins loves sports. I think he likes doing this stuff. Um manny, Manny what's his name? Point the one president guy? Anyway, But no, I think Robbins really uh uh loves doing this stuff. I think he wants to be involved in this stuff. Um you know he he he you know he's at every uh he's at every event, you know, every home event for sure. He try he goes to
all the road you know, he's at the Pac twelve tournament. If they go to a bowl game, he's at the bowl games. Um uh uh Manny Pacheco's Manny Pacheco, Um, he's, uh, I think he really likes doing this, and I think he's I think he's gonna have an influence on the whole on everything that's going on with the PAC twelve and athlete. Could you ask him to speed it up? Please? Okay, I'll get on. I'll call him right away and say, okay, okay, Bobby, you're in there. Get this done right, get it done, get
it done the time we have and we'll talk about that. But he's like he is now on the on the executive Manny, watch you think bodes well. Two. A couple of things in there that Wildern pointed out. One that there's a guy who's loved sports and has evolved in you know, thinks about it all the time is in there. And also that one of the four Corners schools is on the executive committee now because it was before it was
it was Washington State, Washington, and Stanford basically the northern division. And now you've got, you know, somebody from the southern area and it's one of the corner schools. So yeah, excuse me. He thinks that that's gonna be a have a good impact on on what goes on in the Pact world. Yeah, I think I I talked to you about getting the Crevius's stats because they lost. He eventually lost. Yeah, he was. He was in his gay in his last game, he was, he went,
he was fourteen and thirty thirteen, he was a double double. Lost lost to Belgium. He plays for Lithuania. Lost to Belgium seventy seven seventy one. Sounds like he made quite an impression on some folks, uh in this uh was it was an under twenty under nineteen twenty tournament. Yeah, uh here fourteen thirteen, two and two. Yeah, Yeah, I think this team is gonna be very good. It's gonna be different. It's gonna be different. It's gonna be different. Yeah, it's gonna yeah, it's it's
gonna have a it's gonna have a clearly a different look. But again, as you expect, it's gonna be like that pretty much every year. There's gonna be just just different faces and more. You know, it's not like you're just gonna lose the two or three guys who who used up their eligibility, Right, It's gonna be guys that It's gonna be a lot of people leaving, you know, every single year. And then you know that Timmy Kencrup he can you know, yeah he should not at all, Alright,
but people big game. Boomer came out with a controversial topic, the best the best pizza joint in every college town, And for Arizona, he put Brooklyn Pizza, which is a place over on Fourth that never I've never had. I've heard of it, but never never. I'm a I'm a I'm a grandma Tony's guy. Uh, there's a right think there's three or four of them in town. There's one right by our house. So that's part of why I really like it. I've been uh it was row Row Rose
rosaties. You like the roses that I'm not. I'm not a huge pizza guy. But you know when there's a good one, you know, you know, when you taste it right, well, when you get at home and it's all melty and yeah, yeah, yeah gooey, and the crust is good. Yeah. And if you eat the whole thing, right, if you the crust and everything, um, you know, you know it's
pretty good. I've never had. Next time we're down in that area, maybe we take those of you up who listen up in the Tampee area Red Devil, which I've never I'm assuming that's around Tampee, right, it's gonna be, I mean around them, does that Red Devil pizza? Okay? Cool? All right, let's take a break. Jake Fisher, a farm Arizona linebacker, be joining us and he'll will just you get his take on

Hey, welcome back to the Ball on Fox Sports fourteen Shift. Young Steve, He's Jake now on the phone. We have our regular guy, Jake Fisher on Jake, how are you do? A wonderful up here next to the pool, about to jump in as then as we get off, How are you guys? We're doing fine. What do you live the life? Man? Yeah, you lived the life. We are very blast. We are very blast. Yes, yes, hey, I want to ask you. We have a few things to ask you. But we were talking about
coaches yesterday. The baseball coach at Northwestern and we know all the problems right that they're going through. The baseball coach was was let go after some investigations of harassment or whatever. It was taunting or I can't remember the words. But these days coaches can't do much right, I guess, I mean, I guess. I mean, like the worst that I got when I was a freshman or at the U of A was they would take my cat cart like once every two months. They would kind of put us on a loop.
It was like every Thursday or Friday they take our cat cart and pay for lunch. And that was pretty much it. We never got any of the crazy stuff to talking about there. Yeah, I was gonna ask you what was what was it bad? And how bad? How bad have you ever been yelled at by a coach? Oh my gosh, you guys have met a couple of my coaches. I mean the Soop's brothers were pretty bad.
Obviously. You know, they'd yell at you if you did something wrong, but then they'd love you up as soon as you know, you know, the play was finished or you do something good. Coach cast Deal, who was probably my favorite coach of all time, him and Coach Cash, but you know, they were definitely different. But Coach cast Deal would uh, I mean, he'd get in your face and he would always had a lip in so every now and then you get some chew on your face and
that was fun. But uh, you know, but he was also your biggest, uh, your biggest cheerleader when you did well. So I've gotten shoot out quite a bit. My dad used to be my coach. I've gotten shoot out by am and in high school we had a couple of coaches
that shoot us out. So, um, I mean throughout the ranks, I've been shoot out pretty you know, kind of a lot, actually, Jake, And in all your time in locker rooms, you know, one of the one of the things with the Northwestern football thing is that they're saying that, you know, Pat Fitzgerald, who was a legendary guy there, got fired. They're saying he either knew and let this happen, or he
didn't know and it happened that the hazing stuff that they're talking about. How believable is that that Pet Frizgerald had no idea what was going on in the locker room. As far as all this hazy stuff that's going is going on, I don't believe it at all, to be honest with you. And this is the reason why, you know, you got a hundred players, you got so many staff members. You got a bunch of folks that are in the equipment room, you got a bunch of folks that are you know,
in the you know, that are helping with treatment. Um. I mean, there's just so many people around that somebody probably told somebody else that would have ended up making it. You know, it's way up to him. So there's no way in hell in my opinion, that he didn't know. And it's just unfortunate that, you know, this has all kind of
come to a head like it has. But yeah, there's just no way in my opinion that a head coach who literally is supposed to be the day to day operations, like he knows everything where every player is supposed to be on every play, where every player needs to be, you know, in terms of class's, you know, training table, you know, film workouts, whatever. There's just no way he didn't know, right, Okay,
so I'm in this one. I'm not asking you to make a statement on anything that's happening in Northwestern but you know, if you're in the locker room and somebody's asking you to do some of those things, are telling you you had to do some of those things, you know, are you saying, go to hell are you doing it? What do you think you're doing?
And what's the pressure not to dry? Well? To be one hundred percent honest with you guys, I didn't really pay attention to the story, but what I would tell you if there was something that was over the line, Uh, you defend yourself and you punch somebody. That's just kind of where I'm going to leave it at. Yeah, okay, and that's I mean, that's legit. I mean I think that's what a lot of a lot of people. Somebody comes and says to me that I got to do that.
It's on right, And that's like I said, I don't know what you're referencing, but what I will tell you, like I said, if it is over the line, defend yourself. And there's got to be some some upper classmen in there. If it is get into that that, you know, point I got to step up and just stop the crap. I mean, that's just stupid, right right, No, No, especially today,
right you just can't. You know, sure they're gonna make you stand up and seeing your alma materate, you know, at a dinner or something like that, but you know, to do some of this other stuff. That's kind of just as you say over the line, I mean, somebody's got to put a stop to that. Yeah, somebody asked to and most of the time it's got to be somebody who's an upper classman. But the fact that they only won you know, one or two or however many games
that won last year, it shows how crappy they're uppers. You know, ship is anyway, so you probably didn't have anyone with the stones to actually, you know, put a stop to it. So there you go, that's a really good point. Hadn't thought of that because they've been bad. He won four games the last two years, And I guess you could say, you know, the locker room was a crap place to be, and that might have might explain some things as the way they got so bad so
fast. One then it probably stops a lot of the younger you know, the younger kids from actually growing up and getting better. You know, it's like I'm free to go to the locker room or be around any of my my teammates, like that's not a fun place to be. Yeah. So, uh, given the LSU transferred guy, uh what's his name, Bamingham, and I was just gonna say how much do you like? I mean, like I said, hey, greener pastures. You know, he won
a national championship. Obviously he uh, you know, it's already panned out for him. I feel like that national championship a couple of years ago that when against US should have been hours. But hey, you know, if they're willing to pay a lot and he likes being there, then I mean we can't hold them hostage. You know what I mean so exactly, I mean it is what it is. Yeah, Hey, we haven't talked to
you since Elijah Rushing committed to Arizona. UM, A lot of talk about how the you know, you know, we had Ari Wasserman on the last last Hour about how the profile for Arizona from a recruiting standpoint, and there's people who are kind of out there national you know, coaches or whatever who are pretty impressed with what Arizona is doing. What were your thoughts on on Rushing committing to Arizona. Well, first of all, I love the class
so far. UM. You know, it's it's very refreshing, unlike the last coaching staff where you're beating out kids you know that are you know, their second best offers like Portland State. Um, so that's awesome. I'm thankful for jet Fishing Company. I will tell you Elijah and Kona. I love the fact that those two were from Tucson. We made it a priority to go get them. They're right down the street, so you should be
seeing them every day, if not every other damn day. And I love the fact that Elijah said, you know, I'm going to go against the grain here. I'm not going to do it's easy. I'd like to stay home, close to family, and I'd like to turn Arizona new contender. So the fact that him and Keona both decided to do that, I mean, and this is the thing. When you get into college, you know that bond is just going to help you through the grueling days of practice,
you know, going through just the hard times to camp. And I mean, I hope that those two can, you know, kind of like what Brooks Reid did, you know, at the defensive end position. I hope that those guys can start and be a solid book end for two to three years. Are you going to be coming down two more games this year? I know you're busy men, but yeah, no, I should be able to get down there a couple of times this year. I don't know what
games yet, they have no idea. I'm hoping that I can actually get to meet to Jetfish in person this time, and hopefully I can get some some field passes wink wink. Who knows. But yeah, you know, I'm excited. Guys. There hasn't been this kind of buzz run Arizona football I'm like five or six years. So I'm I'm super excited. I'm gonna I'm gonna do my best to make time to get down there. I know that we're probably going to be, you know, probably white years ahead of
where we've been the last five or six years. I feel like we have the coaching that we haven't had, you know since the witch spot a hunt. And so if you have good players, you have good coaches. You know, obviously that's a great combination. And uh, I mean, we have the talent to get to a bowl game and beyond this year. So
I'm excited. Okay, I'm sorry, I was I was looking at something here, so um, you know, I mean, you know, Steve and I were talking about the same thing that you know, I know the people that I hang around with, are you know, the buzz heading into this season is like it hasn't been in quite a while. I don't even remember being all that much buzz around the twenty fourteen team, which was really good. I think it caught us all kind of by surprise. But we're
kind of excited about this season getting started back. And that's what I'm excited about because instead of just having cool tat and you know, a good running back, you know, a couple of receivers that can get chunks, we have legitimately two to three NFL m wide receivers, a couple of NFL running backs, a couple of NFL tight ends, a couple of NFL offensive linemen we have. You know, I think Jada Dlauren could eventually make his way
into the NFL. I kind of, you know, I think he's kind of the same fringe, you know quarterback that Mascot was, where if he finds a team that fits his his style of play, he'll stick. If someone drafts him where you don't fit, which you know Mascot would have went to, like the Philadelphia Eagles or someone Chappell was there, whatever it might have been. You know, I think he could have made it for a
few years and made some good money. And then on the defensive side of the ball, we have a bigger defensive line, so we're not going to just get ran over every single play. We have Manu back you know, obviously add justin flow, but with defensive back room, even though they're young, I think that we can be really good. And I honestly just on the offensive side of the ball, we have like six or seven NFL players and we haven't had that since the Stoops there, So with good coaching,
I think we can do pretty well. So just to go back in the hype stuff, when you were playing, I think that you're the transition from Stoops to rich Rod was probably the most hype time for you. And could you tell can you could you tell that there was hype? I mean, shoot, there was hype when I was in high school and you know Stoops and those guys, they got them to the uh you know, got them
to a bowl game there in Vegas. There was hype obviously when rich Rod came in UM and like I said, ever since then, you know, ever since coming off that Fiesta Bowl, I think I don't think there's been as much hype with the exception and maybe having kohlil Paid who was an absolute force at quarterback, and I wish that he didn't get banged up. I wish he had a few more athletes around him. But other than that, Yeah, there hasn't been this hype around a program with life some times,
no, no doubt. I mean I think that's what you know, what's got everybody excited. Sounds like they're selling tickets and whatnot. So hey, we start to find out. Imagine having t Mac Imagine having not to dore In but with the other cat's name that we just got there you go. Imagine having you know, all the running backs coming back. Imagine having doing Morgan. Um, you know, the big guy, he's gonna be a sophomore. I mean he's just kicked out the offensive tackle. I think he's
going to be more of an offensive guard. And then at the next level, Jane de Laura comes back, I mean, the tight ends both come back. And then having a revamped defense, or even if the defense is only like middle of the road. You know, I saw a couple of people thought that we were going to be one of the worst in the nation again, which is absolute bs. I think the people they need to get
off of whatever they're on. But you know the fact that even if, like I think, they're just gonna be a middle of the road and we're gonna make a lot of plays, get a lot more turnovers, get up the ball in our offensive hands a lot more. It's gonna be a fun year. I can't wait to watch it. Were you ever did you ever go to pack up media day? Were you ever one of the guys? Yeah? I got to my age junior and senior year. How was that? Was it fun? Was it a pain? What did you like doing
that? It's on? I mean, some of the coaches that you meet, they're awesome. Like I think it's Mike Riley when he was at Oregon State, nicest guy in the entire world. He knows everybody by first name, et cetera, et cetera, and you just want to talk to him forever. And then you get you know, guys like Chip Kelly, who they kind of piss you off, to be honest with you, I mean they just kind of you know that you could tell that he rubs off on
a team, that type of thing. It's fun to hang out the players, you know, uh, you know, obviously my junior year, ils are with Mike Scott or Matt Scott, and you know he was from that area, so I got to meet a lot of his friend's family, that type of stuff. And then my senior year I got to go there at Terence Miller, and he knew a lot of folks, obviously him being from southern calis So. I mean, they've put on a first class show.
I will tell you that, son, knowing you as well as I know you, so, I'm sure you were annoyed by a couple of questions that you were asked over there. I wouldn't know what they are, but do you remember what they were? I don't remember, but Steve, you know me better than most. I'm annoyed by a lot of questions. That's what's Yeah, I see. I think he was annoyed by that question, right, I love And by the way, just as full transparency, I still
think you're delusional about seven or eight wins. H No, I think we're gonna win seven and then the eighth win's gonna be in the ball game. She's one up at the end of the year. Friday, Yeah, it is Friday. Oh finally, actually good week. Going out to a nice dinner with my spouse tonight. Right, We're gonna find only spend a
uh give gift card that we got back for Christmas. Who are you going? Oh? I love that great place, love that place, great place up on the hill, yep, up on the hill. And uh it's uh, you know, just half a nice little dinner, cool, cool, a little date with my wife. She might find out who you really are after thirty years. And she's loved it. I wouldn't say she loved every minute of it, but at least enough of it to stick around.
That's true. What are you doing? It's hot enough here for you being my apartment, you know, chilling, chilling, working on some stuff. Cool you. How's work pretty good? You know, first couple of days we're pretty easy. Not too much going on and kind of you know, watching the bull do some stuff, get some training in, kind of you kind of showed me around the office or whatnot. So good, okay, easy, cool, Okay again, if you guys want to call, please
do Uh. If the guy was was listening to us to day, you wanted to call in yesterday talked about the sugar skulls and if he's not the question to you to him to us Jay yesterday where he couldn't get in was what's the quality of play player from Sugar Skulls compared to the NFL. How close are they? Um, well, there aren't too many guys that there's some of these guys have played in the NFL, you know, maybe had
a year or whatever. There's been a few of them. Um, and the Sugar Skulls have some of those guys who have had tryouts with the NFL there. I would say they're like if if you were to say major League Baseball, I'd say they're like double A. Okay, Now they're not triple A like on the on the Birds of Being, but they're double A where you know, you get it. You have a certain talent, have certain
capability, You've got certain skills, and somebody's looking for those skills. You might get the call of the quarterback from last year, de Quan Neil the middle of the season went went for a tryout with the Colts. Right is playing still? Yeah, he's in Vegas. Okay, so you know they might get they might get a look. Um, you know, I don't see you know, like like Arizona's I mean Arizona's two sons, running back Mike Jones, really good player, face of the face of the league.
I mean face of the team, face of the franchise. Really good player, probably not an NFL player, maybe a CFL player, maybe a USFL player. Yeah, um, you know, so they're more they're closer to that NFL. It takes a special kind. You know. You can tell you know a Major League Baseball player versus a you know, a guy in the miners. There's a there's a huge difference higher on the air and I on the ball. Yeah up, Nico, Yeah, man, did I
hear you like Grandma Toni's pa. I love Grandma Tony's pizza. You go, I do? I do? Did you work? Man? I passed that thing like four times a week going of the weed, and I never want to stop that. So when you have your weed, what makes you want to eat a pizza? We just go with the lace potato chips. After you go for your weed. What's your go to pizza? I guess New York the one on on tank AVERTI there no Broadway man, or buy Sara? Oh okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, No man,
It's it's gotta be. It's gotta be Grandma Tony's. Yeah, man, I say one time got the wings. I was stuck on the toilet for three days. Well the wings, the wings are okay, they're not great, um not not top of the line wings from But you don't go to a pizza place for wings. Okay, go to a wing place for wings. You gotta put jays. I didn't want to ask you something. Okay. You played softball, right, yeah, for a long time. Man, I got this friend that keeps trying to get me to play.
Man. Yeah, it's fine. I had I played it for years, I mean a lot of years, retired and then went back and played another couple of seasons with with my kids team. We have a blast you know, out of sports park or is it a city league or is out of sports park? It's at a Lincoln Park. I don't know. Okay, So why are you asking? Because have you played ball before? I just played baseball like a man. Okay, So okay, good, So you
have some bill, then you can go have fun. Man. You know, if you don't, you know what, the only thing you say, don't take it serious. Okay, let's keeping go out there and play and have fun. Man, that's the product that's keeping me. Man. First of all, we got to practice two times a week. That's stupid right there. Okay, don't play with that team. Do not play with that We'll be running out there feeling like Zama Dadgers. Yeah, no, I'll know if they practice, don't play, that's not it's not no, I
would, I would warn you off of that. You know, just play some guys. Find some guys who just like to go out there and play. Drink some beers. If you're a Lincoln Park you probably can't drink beers, but you go after the game, have a couple of beers and not take yourself too serious. What position do you play or did you play? Now? Was a short? And you you you have some skills, then hey man, you're basically forced to play baseball. You are did you?
Did you? Um? Have you never played slow pitch shoftball? No? Man, I don't want to go sit out there and play with some husband. That's what they are. But that's what they are, and they're just out there. If they're just out there having fun, then it's cool. But if they're practicing, yeah, you know, I don't know. I can't three days a week, that's it. That's once a week, man, that's interfering for your fun time. You know what that one game a
week I'll play that. I'll come to the games and if that's good enough, then I'm coming. But you know, if I have to come to practice in order to be on the team and play, I'm not playing exactly. Man, I got a sex last man, but I gotta go. Okay, man, it's always good that he has to, you know. Look, I the when I played a lot um. I took it serious enough where we had uniforms and I put my uniform on right and all that
bit. But I never was on a team to practice. We played our one game, you know, one day a week, would play on Sunday night sports Park, where I played on another team that played during the week. But you practicing slow pitch softball is the dumbest thing ever. Here's the deal. If you know how to play, you don't how to play, that's when you don't have to go practice. No, no, right,
it's just ten dudes out there or women to go out and play. If you know how to play, you know how to play your position, you're good. We see that baseball team, that's Sita League baseball team. They played on for I think fifteen years. We did practice. One time we would play. We would a week before the season started, would call, you know, would call around and say, okay, hey, season starts next Tuesday, be there, and guys would show up and we would just
start to play because that's it's recreation. That's what it's supposed to be. It's not supposed to be something. Then you're gonna go practice and get to the game and you're gonna be upset if you lose. All that other crap. Yeah, it's softball, it's big Yeah, Okay, come on man, there are teams are taking very shoots. Those are the very elite teams at the top. But you know that's well, yeah, it's a different
I mean, you know, we we we had a game again. There was a team they were sponsored by sporting goods national sporting goods company called Steels and this was this traveling team and go around the town around towns and they play I don't know if you remember them, and we played them once. You could tell these guys were pros and they played a different game well than what we play. You know, the guy that was very good is rick
Le Rose. But that was fast pitch softball, fast pitch. Well, there was there was a time at fast pitch softball rule the world is town with it, you know, and I you know, you probably got to be seventy years old to have played in the heyday of fast pitched softball and do something. But there were some guys, and I know, ros rick Le Rose was a really good baseball player. I mean he was fifty some years old and he was playing shortstop for us and that, uh and then
on that city league baseball team because he was good. You know, you could tell he could you know, he could play. Um, he was. He was a good athlete. But you know, again, if you're if you're out there to have fun, then go have fun. And if somebody's saying you got to come and practice for a slow pitch softball team, they're not having fun. They're out there trying to win and if they don't
win, they're gonna be unhappy and that's not fun. Yeah. I know I'm making a broad statement, but I think that's pretty much the rule. You know. It's even these guys that you know come to games and they've got all the gear and elbow pads and all that stuff. You go, dude, man, no, wait, wait, we got five minutes. You I can talk about this. This is your this is your version, and that's what I'm telling you. Play good blah blah blah. But I'm
talking about serious sports. To go play you go play softball, to go play soul pitch softball. You know, a pair of gym shorts and a T shirt and some cleats and some short socks. It is perfectly fast. And that falls right into what I talk about, where you can have these dudes and we know these dudes that dressed like that that are unbelievably good because
you're natural good athletes and they dressed like that. No, but what I'm talking about, Steven's like you're on a high school baseball team or you're on a college football team or whatever, that you gotta wear your seeing some pretty good dudes in uniforms, pretty bad dudes and uniforms that look pretty good that were horrible. That's that's think they might be good because they wear their uniforms.
You're this is you've heard this argument before. We right, Oh he looks good giving off the bus and then he can't even get to play. You can't play, No, dude, I want somebody who's okay, but if I if I can't play, I'd rather look good. You can't play then look bad, and not being able to play that makes you even look worse. Yeah. God, the guy looks good but he can't play uniform? God is he bad? Goddy looks bad at that baseball uniform and he's bad. That's okay, that makes sense, right, yea, oh God,
Steve, he slowly, You're not. I am not. I'm still I'm a firm believer. Look good, play good, look good, play good. But when it comes to so pitched softball, it doesn't matter. No, That's kind of where I went with it, because we had uniforms, we had dudes. Right. Well, then maybe that's where we didn't, Clara yacause when I'm talking about looking good and playing good, I'm talking about you know, my baseball team when I was coaching, um my high
school baseball. Yeah, I made them wear their uniforms correctly. Yeah, I get, I get. That's what I'm saying. Good good, Well, some of the guys were good. But like I know, my son Adam wanted to wear his uniform right right, and he did, and he looked, he looked at him. He was good. Okay, but the rest of us suck. But and the coaches sucked. But that's what I'm talking about. When you're in an organized thing like that, to wear your
uniform, right, that's that's different. That's what I'm talking that's different because everybody I'm talking about you pick up basketball, you know, slow pitch softball, you know, you're out there playing flag football where whatever you're gonna wear. But I'm talking about when you're on a team where everybody's got to wear a uniform, right, where your uniform, right, That's what I'm talking I get it. I get it. So just did you watch the Baseball
I'll Star game? No? Probably not, Okay, they had issues with the uniforms. They kind of we're not stylish one. It didn't look great. Yeah, we're used to explain it correctly. They normally in an all Star game in Baseball I'll Star game, Major Baseball, the guys wear their team uniforms. Right. Well, they put these damn softball uniforms on them this last this this game, right, and the and the and the National leagu uniforms particularly bad. It was like a like a dark awkwa top with
black pants. They looked like a te ball teams. Okay, that's that's the problem. I had. Both sides looked and the other side had a teal top but with white pants. And part of it maybe stuck with me because our my son's team when he was seven, we were teal with black pants. And that's why it reminded me of that team. Remind me of our coach's pitch or coach pitch team when he was eight years old or seven
years old. And the and these major League All Stars are wearing this damn uniform in the All Star Why did they switch from the I don't know. I don't know. You'd probably to sell the jerseys to be able to sell jersey. Go buy an All Star Game jersey. Yeah right, stupid stop. Yeah it wasn't pretty, they weren't, but guess what they played? Well, yeah, it was still a good game. It was still a good game. So that's at least we're qualifying or qualifying our argument about I'm
more of the recreational guy. Oh do you look bad? But they're very very good. I played against those dudes. I was never talking about those guys. And maybe that's maybe that's why we've had the had the difference of opinion. I was I was always talking about you're on an organized game like a high school team, uh, you know, college team whatever, where your uniform? Correct? No, I don't disagree with that. Fix that one. We fix that one too. And there still having the blue blood
argument. No, no, no, well kind towards the middle of that, you're coming by way on that one. Okay, So that's cool. A good week this week, we're near the end of the show. Um, hurt us chin Hey, sugar scalls tomorrow. Um, I know you want to stay home and watch me on YouTube, but don't go to the Dan game. It's the last game of the regular season tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow. Oh I thought that last week was last. No, tomorrow. They got the Green Bay Blizzard tomorrow night. It's the last home game.
They're giving away youth backpacks. There's also some other stuff going on out there. It's a diaper drive. To bring some diapers and go to the game. They've got cheap tickets for this game. Go to the game. It's the last home game of the year. Make it a good crowd, and and forget about you know, watching Pat and I on on YouTube. We're gonna have fun, all right. Okay, cool, all right man, see, let's hit the road. We'll have a nice dinner with my spouse.
If you have a good weekend, Jason, have a good weekend as well. All Right, we'll be back on Monday. M
