Steve Rivera and Jacin Salis. They have their Eye on the Ball on Tucson Sports Stage yet Fox Sports fourteen fifty. Hey, welcome back to Ian the back here on Fox Sports fourteen fifty on Steve, he's Jake. We have Kevin with breaking news. This is Eye on the Ball Breaking news on Fox Sports fourteen to fifty. All right, so we do have some breaking news today. I guess we'll lead off with the news that Steve was alluding to earlier a little bit in the last segment of the amateur Golfer who won Nick

Dunlap. Nick Dunlap, Yes, but the amateur golfer who won what kind of the American Express? Right, gun Lap from Alabama, just twenty years old. He is no longer an amateur. He has officially turned pro. I didn't know. Did he get to keep the money? No, no, so because he was still doesn't get the money. He didn't get money or tour points because right, he still doesn't get the money or the or

the FedEx cup points or anything because that's behind him. No. But no, Well, because he was an amateur at the time of the tournament. But what he did get, what he did get is a two year exemption. He doesn't have to go get his tour card. He's got a two year exemption on the tour. Yes, you're playing all the majors and the and the and the what do you call it? At the end, the uh, the players, and I think, you know, he gets playing

all the big tournaments. But he's also got he's got his tour card for two years. So I'd say he wins one more time. You know, he keeps winning, you know, he'll now he's he'll stay you know, I'm pretty sure that if I had done that, i'd sign our school or or you know, he can he can stay in at he can stay uh

a student. You know, he can still get a degree. But you know, the thing that seemed to be struggling with, because I saw his press conference talking about that, was was his you know, he's on the team. He's on the Alabama GoF team, obviously obviously the best player, right and he didn't want to leave the team. He said, you know, I have a commitment to my team. But I'm guessing his teammates said, yo, get your hell but over on the PGA Tour because that's what

we're all here shooting for you've got it, go do it. You know, if I'm on that team and a teammate does that, I'm saying, what are you doing here? But over to the PGA Tour. No, at the end of the day, that's what you're doing. Everyone talks about Neuve or athleteses deciding to leave. Yeah, of course that's what you want

in the first place, is that you're for that. That's like. That's like if you got drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft and you're trying to decide if you're going to go back to school or go to the Major League Baseball Draft and they said, well, you're you're on the major league team. You're you know, show up at Dodger Stadium tomorrow and you're playing. You're you're not going to school, right, correct? And he didn't just get drafted? Yeah, yeah, you're. You got drafted and your and

you're and you've been sent to the majors. You're not going to say, well, let me think about whether or not I want to leave my team baseball. Yeah, you hopping a six hour bus ride in North Carolina somewhere. I think I'll go play and I'll go I go to Dodger Stadium. There's some more breaking news from last night for those who watched number nine LSU fall to South Carolina at home. The battle of Kim Molk and Don Staley

was really entertaining. So I don't watch women's basketball. Confession on. My name is Steve. I have a confession to me. The last time I watched was the IOWA. I watch your game last year. What a great situation. Right then, I said, Okay, I was got home and I was doing a doing a story for somebody, and I'm gonna watch this game just because because you tweeted, so you texted us, I'm gonna watch it. It was fascinating, it was great. It was great basketball.

It was and I had to change the channel because the glare from her jacket. I could stay with it. That's what it was burning my eyes. It was like watching a car crashing in terms of fashion, but to your point, one dressing the way she did, the other one dressing how she did, and then Mokey going crazy on the sideline. And then two minutes later she's on TV and she was very sensible, very funny, very kind of practical, and I'm thinking she can go boom boom in a sart beat.

She's a lady. That's why they play hard for her. I even thought that, I even thought that she must be difficult night, Yeah, very much. So they're an intense team too. If you're watching like Hayley Vanly last night, she was on fire, the guard of the guard with the braids she had. And see Steve, you see like you see Ta van Derveer. You see uh Don Staley. They're not like that. You don't have to be like no, but they're very Uh Loot wasn't like that,

but he was stern. Oh sure he was. You know what. That's what I think that. But you don't have to be a big birthdaydad. Totally agree with Totally agree with you. But I think that I think technical with Tommy. I think people want to see they want to see his head explode. They want to see you get it done type of thing. Well, they want they want to see him express how they feel. Right, they feel, they feel upset about the game, and they want,

they would him to project their feelings onto the team. So they want Tommy to be as pissed as they are. And he's not. Well, so he might be, but he's not going to show it to yet right, Yeah, well someone and sometimes Jed was thought to be that very common composed of the sideline yeada YadA. But you know what you got behind the scenes. Yeah exactly. But I I watched it for for a few minutes, and then I can't remember what I watched. I switch the guard that you're

talking about, very fantastic and obviously scored some points. I know what I did. I went, I went and watched the the I watched the sixty minute replay of the Alamble. Oh I hadn't. I hadn't really looked at it. Okay, how did that really happen? You know what I've been I know why because I changed the channel. The end of the u c l A Arizona game football game was on, so then it was just right

at the end. So then I got that Almo Bowl recorded, so I I'll watch that, and I watched that, so that's why I quit watching it. And then I watched that into the air Zone. Yeah. In the basketball, yeah, I think I watched the LSU South Carolina and today, well, well we're talking about women's basketball. I've got I have some personal breaking news tonight. I am going to an Arizona basketball game at McHale as a spectator for the first time in close to forty years. Going to

the basketball game tonight with my on a date with my spouse. She invited you to go, she did, So you better not say going to dinner and a basketball game and I don't have to, you know, get there early and get the lineups. This will be the first time I've been a spectator at and either an Arizona men's or a women's basketball game since the eighties five eighty six men Olkowski was coaching. Who was she? Who was? Well? I didn't go to any women's games back then, but I went

to you know, I went to a few men's games. I was a sports writer, but not covering, not not on the on the basketball, uh, you know, covering the team. So it would have been that year would have been my last year going to a game there as a spectator. No, you're breaking news to me. That was my breaking news. Give me some cleaner teared up here. I'm all choked up. Play this, Kevin. I'm gonna I'm gonna go sit in the seat like with a

cup holder. I might get a burrito or something or some nachos and just watch the game and guess what. You can do whatever you want at your leisure. I can cuss if I want to. Wow, Well, that implies that we don't cuss at the table. We do. We do, we do. People are shocked at the way we act at that table.

We even shocked Tommy one time. Speaking speaking of speaking of surprising things that have come up in the past couple of days, we do have some NFL breaking news, Uh, Patriots, Kashawan Butte was arrested over illegal gambling at during his time at LSU. He was under the age of twenty one and fraudulently claimed to be over the age of twenty one. Now, I told I told the guy this during the break, but I did. What I did not tell you, guys, is the amount of bets that he placed.

So the alias account believed to be used by Boute placed more than eighty nine hundred wagers with at least seventeen bets on NCAA football games, including at least six involving LSU, according to police. And I'm getting this from ESPN. But he never bet against himself, never bet against LSU. That's right, That's that's what. Yeah, Yeah, not that. That means it's a Pete and Pete Rose thing. One eight hundred, next, come on

nine thousand, pretty much nine thousand. How when the world has been nine thousand times? Someone did the math on Twitter. It's about twenty a day for like a Holy Molly or something. But yeah, and I saw I was watching I was doing my laundry today and I was watching McAfee. I headed on and they had a graphic up where allegedly he had he had deposited about one hundred and thirty eight thousand into the account, climbed it up to five hundred and fifty thousand, but by the end, by the time he

withdrew the money, it was just fifty thousand. Oh that's what happens, man. Yeah, So gambling with his money and with his career. What do you get that kind of money to do that? If you're his and you have five hundred thousand, you can and you're on the LSU football team. Interesting. The Falcons in the NFL have hired Raheem Morris as their head

coach, the former Rams defensive coordinator and former Falcons interim coach. They're going back to the back to the well here yeah, and and there's only two jobs open now Seahawks and commander and the commanders. And Bill Belichick still doesn't have a job. Would you hire him? No, me too, you know, you know, not because he's old. Yeah, supposedly he wanted the Falcons job, but he also wanted all control and then they weren't good and they weren't going to give it to him, and that that's why he

that's probably why he didn't have a job. It's like, Okay, we'll hire you, but you can't. You know, this is not your team. You're the coach of the team. Well you apparently you know Harbaugh got that at the Chargers and that you know, he wasn't going to go to a job a job and not get that. But hell, he was asking them to do the lake. Can you forgive me for forgi me for sitting in any future sitting I'm doing? Yeah? Can I break? Can I

break rules and still not get fired? Oh? Pre confessional? But ready break? You know, look look Bill, Bill, he listen to me. Bill, listen, take your you know, take your take, take a year off, go do some TV, you know, get a personality right or show the personality that people say you have, you know, behind the scenes, you know, build up your your your image, your aura, your mojo, whatever, and then go, you know, take a break and go get a job. But you're in your Why do you want

another job? Seventy two years old? I think he's seventy two? Why why call it? Yeah, call it a day. Yeah, that could be another part of and you know, team him up with the Brady. But as a as a competitor, right, he maybe he didn't like the way end of you take one more shot at this, fine, but you know what, take some time off. You might like it. I mean, he might like being retired and not doing anything maybe, but he is close to that wins record though records. He's pretty close. I shouldn't say

very close, but he's pretty close. Yeah, we do have one more NFL breaking news. Mark Andrews Ravens tight end has been activated off the injured reserves. Well, yeah, they cut somebody, cut somebody to get on the roster. That's a bummer. That's gotta suck going into the AFC Championship and you get cut. And I saw Deebo Samuel is supposedly playing, is

playing. He's got the crack and you know somebody there was a stat that they average two more yards the offense averages two more yards per play when Deebo Samuel is on the field. I saw that. Crazy. It's insane. I have another crazy start about Deebo. I was listening to a sports Gambling in the Lakes podcast the other day and they were saying, uh, Deebo Samuel gets injured in fifteen percent of the games he has played. That's a lot, that's a high percent. You only you only play sixteen a year.

Would you would you would you do a prop bet on him to score touchdown this weekend? Wow? Would you not touch him? No? I guess my. My indecisiveness tells me nothing. Okay, because anytime touchdown bets is like I have to see a strong trend. Yeah, like have some sort of indication of like, yeah, they're gonna be looking to get that

person in the zone. But I mean, Kittle came out last weekend after they after they won and said, you know, if Deboe didn't get hurt, he would have had three touchdowns based on the way the game plan was set up. So maybe coming into this next week in his return, they can't help but put him back into that role where he's making it anytime touchdown, but my money's not gonna be on it. Okay. I yeah, man, I don't know. I don't know what to do on the games

this weekend. Just watch them, don't screw them, don't. I'm not telling you which way I'm going to have. You got what you got. If I'm surprised, said my buddy's on her text chat. I said, I am selling the rights to me, not betting on your team. If you don't want me to bet on your team, pay up. The bidding is open in the era, and I l you gotta understand your leverage. It was leverage. No, I a very powerful card. I'm picking anybody? Is that it for you? Yeah? Well, we can talk about

the Djokovic upset last night if oh that was a big best. Let me just sit real quick. Where do you think the This is from Yard Barker, the all the Best, the Best Hires for the Rid of the Best Football Hires ranked them one to twenty five. What do you think that the Brennan of hiring Phil It's like the top five thirteen? Really thirteen? Who was number one? I think that's obvious. Not Kaitlin de bar Kalen Barre going to but man was the best, higher, the biggest, The biggest

impact is well the biggest impact, so different versus yeah versus best. I think. I think Kaylen, the war is not going to do well. So I don't know, I don't know. There's twenty five. You should try to send your LinkedIn what did what did fish? Fish? I bet you people think that that's a great hire like third. Well, if Brennan's thirteen and the boor is one, I would say fish is like five. Okay. The problem with that whole thing, the whole story is he's spilled

tu Son wrong to us. See you man, go on, this is not Tuscany. It is not all right. We'll be back Dan Dan Manucci. Uh, the minuch is going to join us and we'll talk some quarterbacks that he's been working with, and uh, can you get some of his impressions playing tomorrow this weekend? Story Live. I mean, hey, welcome back to Fox Sports fourteen fifty M. Steve Rivera. He's Jaginsawso now on the phone, we have Dan, a new chief from Fox Sports ninety ten or one of the great state quarterbacks mentors for some of the kids in the state. Dan, how are you see? I'm doing good, guys. Always good to catch up with you guys. He had a chance to catch up with your new head football coach up here on Fox Sports nine ten. Catch up with Brett Brennan.

So you know Friday, it's football Friday. I don't care if it's Christmas Day. If he's there, always good to go on football Friday. Nice. Nice. What were your impressions of him? You know what. I like the energy, I like the enthusiasm. He's coached a long time as far as an assistant several years of Stantose State. We talked about the influence

of dtomy that he had second two thousand and then at Stanose State. So I really liked his I guess modus operational type scenarios of where he's going, what he wants to do, and he's kind of like, hey, look, if guys want to say, we want to keep him here. If some guys move on, there's nothing much we can do about that, And kind of like the old saying, guys, sometimes you just got to play at the hands of dope. But he's he's ready and rare to go.

I think, you know again, it's it's been a very welcome, you know feel with him. You know, people feel you know, pretty good about you know, what they've got. But you know, there's there's the whole thing, right, well, he was at Santas, they stayed. He wasn't at X or X or x uh, you know, and how does that translate to a program, you know, a step up like like Arizona and your talking to him. I mean, he certainly hasn't seemed intimidated to us. But what what are your thoughts, as far as you know,

is is this too big a job for him or not? No? I think guys the other thing too, You're only as good as number one your players. You're only as good as the staff around you. And what it sounds like is that when Dino Baber's coming in as yoc and Danny Gonzalez coming in with all his experience, and you think it, uh, you know, Dwayna Kina coming in. I mean, you've got a very experienced staff that's been the big boy balling back, right, so you've got guys

that know how to handle that. But I think he'll be fine. I mean I would never demean a San Jose State in the coffee they played in. They played a lot of big boy football there. So I don't think at all that that's intimidating for him. And he understands it. And there's nothing football wise that he hasn't seen that he can't perform in next year's Big twelve circuit, that's for sure. Yeah, no question. I thought your question to him was went on, You're like a fifty thousand dollars race horse

going against one hundred thousand. Guess what that happened. Those win, Those win in the big moments. So, Dan, one of the reasons why we had you on. We want to talk about your experience with the high school kids and who you've coached. But obviously you've coached one of the guys still playing in the tournament that turnament in the playoffs this year with Purty. Yeah. I've been traying Brock Perty since ninth grade and he's just a solid

number one guy. He's a solid young man. He's a faith based young man. He worked hard, he's focused, he's called there's nothing that really unnerves him. And he's been like that since day one, since I've been training him since ninth grade. And feel like about Brock, he's a yes, sir, noser guy. He loved to be coached hard. And trust me, you know, Kyle Shanahanck can coach you hard now if you need to. But I mean, he's just always been a hard working, diligent,

looking to improve kind of guy. And he's just the calm amongst the storm. And I told Brock this, I told Sean Perty his dad. I said, Brock is an old soul, he's beyond his years and I think we see that in only two short years, how he's handled that offense. He's handled all the pressure and amongst all the naysayers out there want to put him as a system quarterback, trust me, guys, Rock Purty is

not concerned about any of that stuff, as I call it now. It does you know, he does say a little bit of a burning desire to be the best he can, but he really does ignore the noise. And Brock's the kind of guy, like a lot of good quarterbacks, that seem to be undersold at times after the end of the game. He's the kind of guy if somebody's turping anim he'll just point to the scoreboard and bottom line, who wins and who loses. Right, So he's just been a very

diligent, hard working, focused, want to get better guy. And I

think you're saying that with San Francisco right now. Well, obviously, you know, all that seem seems to have gotten lost into you know, who he was or who he was going to be as a quarterback, you know, because he was drafted so late, you know, the whole mystery irrelevant thing, and yet he's turned out to be you know, this guy, you know, is there all those things that you mentioned, is there one that stands out us to why he's been able to do what he's been able

to do when he wasn't, you know, as highly thought of as maybe he should have been. Well, guys, I'll be very awesward. So the guy he played forty six college football games. Guys, he played in the Big twelve. He played against big boy ball week in and week out, non conference. He was very successful. He won a Fiesta Bowl against Oregon here and that was interesting because I also trained Tyler Schuck, who is the quarterback for Oregon, and then there's Rock thirty for I. That was

the COVID game. Really, so many people came in, but I mean, he's done it so many times. He's been so accurate. He's consistently consistent, as I like to say, and he's always had that so with me training him before he got drafted and then after he got drafted going into training camp. He's extremely accurate. He's got great timing, he's got a very good arm, got a tight spin. He puts the ball where he's supposed to be. I think a lot of scouts just missed a lot of

that. But hey, guys, beauties from the oide of Beholder Right, John Lynch, Kyle Shanda liked that he played forty six football games in the Big twelve. That's great minor league training, would you not say so? I think when he looked at that and he got up there, he learned the playbook. He was diligent, he's humble, he's hard working, but he's a quiet leader. He's got that quiet conviction if you will. And myself and I think of Adam Snyder who used to play for the forty nine

ers. He's out here and I trained his young son, Kale, who's at Perry. He also saw that in him. So a lot of that stuff we saw in brock Purty. He's just the madder guys of getting live AMMO reps in the National Football League. It's when you talk about him and in your description, I'm thinking Noah Fafida Jay where a guy who just does

the job, just the ball where he needs to get it to. He has targets, obviously, but a very system quarterback, okay, but a guy who knows as smart as an old soul and gets the job done. Dude, if that's you're gonna be a quarterback back, like that, I'm taking him, But he's not the two guys. This whole system thing and this and that, well didn't. Wasn't Joe Montganna part of the system. Wasn't Tom Brady a part of his system? Isn't lamark action part of the

system. You still have to get in the car and get the Ferrari around the track of the finish line, do you not. You got to know when to open it up, when to slow down in the curves. There's so many things that drives me nuts. I'm like, yeah, that's great. You know all the great one that outstanding receivers and running backs and and and the lineman. But you still got to sink. You still got to pull the trigger. You still got to put the ball where it's supposed to

be. There's so many there's so much minutia if you will, that surrounds a quarterback within a system. Yes, it's nice to have all those great guys. But in the meantime, guys, if you, like I said, you get in that Ferrari Lamborghini, you know what here learning how to drive that bad war in the fly and he has done it flawlessly the last year and a half. Yeah, and you were talking about bringing the Ferrarii

and Lamborghini around the corner and parking it all nice. There's been a lot of talk about what Party can do with or without his stars on the field. Can you talk to us a little bit about when the quarterback has all his his ducks in a row, all his talent on the field, versus when he doesn't. What are some of the things that allow him to still succeed within a system when some of the parts are missing. Because there's a lot of Rock for I think the biggest thing, guys is those backups,

so that you're alluding to. By the way, we just got where Deebo Stamuel will be playing the forty nine ers, which is huge, as well as Mark Andrews, who is up here at Desert Mountain High School out of Oklahoma. He's also been playing for the Raven Just to give you a couple

of injury updates. But I mean, rock, there's enough training, enough reps with the backups, you know, with the Jennings of the world, with the Ray Ray McDonald's of the world, that he's not concerned about that now he may have to slow his drop down on one receiver versus another receiver like he was telling me last he says, He says, coach. He says, sometimes I got a slower, more methodical drop with Deebo than I do with Ayuk. I have to spin it out with speed it up with

Auk because of their speed. And I trained guys always know her receiver is when you're throwing to somebody, So he understands it. So he had just what I hear you saying is he had just very well. But he's not concerned. He figures those guys are pros. They're ready to play and they got to do their job, and he's ready to do his. Yeah, no, it's it well again. You know, look, I don't know to me, either guy's a good quarterback or he's not right. Yes,

yes, you know. That's that's how I say to that point, guys, not to me to interrupt you. The guy is either he understands because when when those headlights are on Brock Party, he doesn't get panicked. He keeps his poised. He understands, and the other kid, when he makes a mistake or throws the pick, shakes it off. I mean he had

pretty rough three quarters with the rain and everything. Fourth quarter he goes six for seven, has the Knight scramble puts the ball we're supposed to be he would have been seven for seven if not by the drop by Kittle, and then that's the all he made to Ayuk was a perfect spot and that throw that Jenny's coming across the middle, why while getting hammered on, the throw

were perfect ball. So he performs when that pressure gets tight, he loosens up and he he loves the talent and he loves that pressure because he knows he's going to perform. So you mentioned some guys up in the Phoenix, but over the last ten years, I don't know who you've coached as well, but that that market for quarterbacks in Phoenix has become fantast turned out some guys. So what's going on with that? Well, I think it's a

combination of things. Guys that think that we're getting more people up here. We've got like five million people within a fifty miles for a radius, The high school programs are getting more toward the college RPO spread offenses. And then you've got guys like myself that are training quite a few guys that want to get better. And then you have the seven you know, seven on seven

leagues that are going on every off season. So a lot of reps, a lot of specialized training, which I've been doing for gosh twenty five thirty years now. And they they're focused. And I always encourage guys play another sport, play basketball, run track, because I want a well rounded quarterback. I just think that that helps with the team. But you know, I look at the Tyler Shucks of the world. Tyler's at Louisville now Shaba

Purty who just he's committed to Nevada, He'll be going up there. That's Brox brother. I looked at Dalton sneed you know, Dalton's going to be the starting quarterback for there's a Rattlers up here. He broke all kinds of records at Montana. I look at so many of the guys that have you know, have gone on and on and on that have done a phenomenal job, and uh, A lot of it is just having that pretty much year round training, but staying focused and getting other things involved has really helped.

I think a lot of the progress what's going on here up here in Phoenix. All right, give us your analysis of Noah Fafid why has he been able to just come out of the box and be so good so quickly. Number one, he's got good quote work. Number two, he's accurate. Number three he stays calm amongst the storm. And number four he doesn't turn the ball over. And it seems as though he's picked up that system that Jed had up there down there in Tucson very very well. But I just

I look at him, and you're right, Steve. He seems mature, bey on his years, and he's got a hell of a arm, and he understands, I think, what to do and what not to do, if that makes sense to you, guys. He's he's good with the ball, and I think his leadership qualities of performance speaks louder than words, right. I mean, when I played for Chuck Knock in Buffalo, I'll never forget this quote. He said, what you do speaks volumes of who you are, and you know what that was. That's when I see fa Fida.

He's not a very big hit, but he's got a strong arm. But he plays within himself and doesn't get outside the boundary, if you will. As I like to say, he colors between the line, guys and that's very good for a quarterback. No, no, I agree with you. So, so who who are the up and coming guys that we should look out for. I know that Heath's son is in an All Star game this weekend or some kind of thing, and some have already committed. So

who who's next. Well, you look at Mason Bray, that's that's coming up. Another young man named Caale Snyder. Uh, he's gonna be coming up in the ranks and be a sophomore. I've got several other quarterbacks that are that are coming up the pike. Dylan Dylan rared and he's a Notre Dame Prep. He's another outstanding young man, Jackson Knutson from my five Alba Mater McClintock High School Chargers. He's leading the charge there. And you got

quite a few other juniors and seniors. I can't I can't rattle them off right now that are really gonna kind of set the stage for what's coming on. I mean, another young man I had was Nobbie brus On, who was the two time Gatorade Player of the Year, was at Liberty and they

won the state title last year. He's already moved on to a issue as a preferred walk on much like Demon Williams did their u of a But now that he's gone, so there's gonna be a handful of seniors to be or juniors to be this year that are definitely going to be coming up that should be an outstanding the job here in the Valley of the Sun. You mentioned Williams, How good is he? Because Jed wanted him, Jed, he definitely wi The word we heard was that Jed wanted him more than he wanted

up at Washington. Well, I think that's a little salesmanship right there. Truth noah Fffita is right now. He's ahead of the curve of a Demon Williams, DeMont Williams. He is a trust me. He's an outstanding quarterback, out standing on man, very athletic, goes the ball very well, extremely accurate. But god, he needs a bixit, some cheeseburgers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and some shake just to get him up. Is like a like a tuah, But I kind of a guy. Deman has got

the ability. Now if he plays him, I'd be very careful because he's not a big kid, and if he gets banged around and and excuse me, in Big ten football, you gotta be careful. But yes, he's very talented, but no, he's not a no fafita, that's for sure. Okay, Well, Dan, appreciate your time. Thanks a whole bunch. Dan. Hey, anytime, guys, you know me, I mean anytime you want to talk quarterbacks in football, I am available. So I

always appreciated. And shout out to those those other Wildcats and a case State Wildcats's other Wildcats down there at Tucson. Thank you, thanks so much, Dan, Thank you. That's a good guys. Sure you you can listen to him on Fox Sports. I know Arizona fan liked hearing that. Yeah, yeah, definitely like hearing that. So many players coming out of Arizona.

They are and you know, especially quarterbacks. I mean they're all over and they're at all the big school who's in Oklahoma and Rattler all those guys. Yeah, you know again in rock Perty. I mean, holy col I could be in the super Bowl in a couple of right. My whole thing is because he was not considered a very athletic, talented type of guy and just a quarterback. Yeah, I'll take Roger Staubach I'll take him any day. Yeah, yeah, again. I mean I'm not kidding. I

mean I watch him play and I think of Joe montagnae ya ya. Just a guy, just a steady guy out there. You know nothing flash. He just does the job. That's what I would want. have you have you decided what you're doing this weekend? No, I'm not. I'm not doing anything on the NFL game Francisco. I have two I have a Oh, you've got some from the are your bets to get to the super Bowl or to win in the Super Bowl? So either way, I'm not I don't know. That's what you have the Chiefs and the Ravens, right, So I don't care who wins there. I actually want

Baltimore to win because it's a better odds. Yeah, Jay, you mentioned that the Niners have moved to be seven and a half point favorites seven and a half. Right now minus seven and a half is plus one hundred odds for San Francisco. Oh, okay, do you think San Francisco is gonna whoop them? Yeah? It's even. It's even right now, even money bet right, right? All right, let's take this call. You're on the air and on the ball. Yeah, this is Nika. What's up?

Hey? Now on bast talk talk away. Are you where do you sit with this? What do you sit with this? Man? First off, I like gay man, but he's got to settle down. It was one game and they last on a buzzer. Bader Man, I told you to Gab is a little extreme, but that's why we love Gabe. Oh you guys. We love all you guys because you have your different personalities. But the way I see it, man, I'm kind of like Jays and basketball. Los is not the end of the world. Mm hmm. And

football, yes, I'll lose sleep over it. Yeah, you want to kill somebody, right, that's when you start taking the Yeah. I hear you, I hear you. That's I think they do need to bench bar as well for a little bit. Something not right with him, right, something's got to go give. I think he's probably having girl problems. I don't know. Okay, that's a theory. I mean they could. It's a theory. Not out of the realm of passibility. Are you can invite

us to your wedding? Man, I don't want to Let's just say that was a mistake. Thank you to Ko. I appreciate you. Our faith is restored. Yes, the world is fine out. We love you. Hey, I love you guys man right e specula because my god, rivera guy. Maybe you have a thing or two be your kid. I know you couldno what's minus the lettuce? Hey, anybody want to call us?

You got a lot of time. Ten minutes five, two, four, one, six thirty four forty All the collars are coming out of the Woodwards Howard, we had Nico, we had Gabe, where, we had Docter, Brian, Bryan Bryan, Yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah, Okay, we just need fat Mic talk about his cowboys. So he might be he's an easy right now he's in I don't know, uh, you know, my brain tells me take the Ravens, you know, on Saturday or

Sunday. But it's it's kind of like as a don't as they talked to Ryan Racky, you know, as we talked about I said, you know, don't bet against Pat mc patrick. Mahomes man, You've said that and you've said, yeah, I mean it's like what the you know, you know, look who's who's done it in this situation, Mahomes or Lamar Jackson

Mahomes every time. And it's one of those situations where I keep telling my friends all the time, if you get certain players or teams at plus odds, you gotta take them, and you win some and you lose some, but you're gonna win a lot more. Youse, didn't you always have to if the Patriots were getting points? Did you always take? Did you always take? Go to the call? Hi, you're on the air and eye and the ball. Okay, this is Tim dam How are you doing?

Just fine? Hey? I'm a Purdue grad lived in Tucsons the past three years. So my take on Arizona and any college game is that's very tough to win on the road. My Purdue Boilermakers have lost twice to teams that aren't ranked on the road. What I see in the Arizona team is a lack of being a team. They don't seem to be supporting each other and having fun. If you watch Purdue any their bench and the whole team likes each other. They they have a great time even when it's a close game.

And I think you noticed that also when the Indian Pacers came and celebrated Mathern's honor just last week. Totally agree with you, especially last month. Great and that's actually what we were saying about this team in Novembermber. Team is very together. They're moving the ball around. You know, it looks like they're having a blast and something has flipped after the counter. I agree with you. So let me ask you to real quick, because you have

a pretty good team that you follow and Purdue. Do you feel confident enough to say that they'll make to the Final four and actually do well there? Because that's historically not true. I think this year is the best year that I see them having that chance or opportunity, just because they have so many weapons. They their bench is so deep that they can put just about anybody in and not lose a whole lot. Did you go to the bench often? Oh? All the time. The last game, everybody on the bench

had stats in the game. Yeah, okay, no, good for you and cause back when as we get closer to the traps pretty wide open though. I think, you know, I think there's a lot of people who feel I mean, people still feel Arizona, you know, can can get there. Not Steve, Steve, look, I absolutely think that Arizona can get there. I just think that they're going through a phase and once they get that them mentality and go out and just start enjoying basketball again, that

they'll do fine. And people just have to remember it's tough to win on the road anywhere. All the top ten teams have lost on the road, So can't get too too high or too low. Right now. It's all about March. Just I agree with you that it's to thank you, appreciate you, appreciate your calling buddy, no problem. Yeah's too smart to be calling. Yeah, he's too calm to smart. Right, No, he's

Everything he said is correct and he's right this. You know, what what we were saying about this team was how much they look like they're having fun playing basketball with each other, And he's right. It hasn't looked like that during this stretch of games where they've gone six. And I wonder if that trip to Vegas hurt because that's when they kind of got their win knocked out

on them. You know, maybe the Purdue game too, but but it happened that Florida Atlantic was It's kind of you know, they had that game one, they lost it and then they and then since Anna it's been you know what it's been. The Atlantic game was strange in the way that it unfolded, and I think might be onto something with that Jag. I mean, you know they got they got that game to the overtime. You thought you should be able to bury these guys and they were not able to do.

Yeah. Yeah, well it could be more than that. I think it's probably more than that. Something in hell, well again, the whole the whole aspect of you know, enjoying being you know, being on the court with each other and you know, playing well together. So I won't I got an email, a message here from somebody who wants me to kind of analyze Tommy and say, come that he's not the guy. But I'm not gonna say that because it's too early, and it's he has a lot,

he's done really well so far. But what about player of development? This guy says, who has gotten better from the time they entered the program and then he left, especially this year. I mean I thought Conan Bosball had gotten better and then he's he's kind of got him up, you know, retracted or whatever the right word is for that. But umar Babo got one hundred times better from from his first year to last bit. And so I I don't know regrets. I'm you know, I'm not. I'm not.

I'm not gonna I'm no way I'm going into that, he said. He but he's kind of right because you think over the last couple of years he was teaching, he was making him better, making him better, and then this year it hit a wall. It's just hit a wall. I was would say Polo Larson is this season, he's probably the guy who's gotten the best. And that's more confident. That's more confidence too. He's got a lot of confidence now. Uh, and he too has kind of been

up and down a little. Look, I thought Azula's got a hell of a lot better now. He didn't get to a point, you know, he ran out of time to get to a point where uh you know, if you first if he had had another year here, you know, but he he improved. Now. I don't think it's that. I think there's

just something going on with this team right now that is there. There's something weird out there, whether it's in the locker room, whether it's they've lost track of each other on the court, whether there's uh, you know what, you know, one player who's not playing in the system that we don't we're not recognizing that. We don't see people. I know what's on people's

minds about that. But you know there's something like that that is you know, but it was working again, it was working for two months and then it stopped the problem too. So do we have the press conmence with Tommy once we got to have ten, twelve minutes whatever. No one's gonna ask that question. No one's gonna ask that question. Uh, what's the problem is? Or internal is is? No one's gonna ask him directly that question. I'll ask him, Okay, I'll ask it like this, though,

Tommy, is is what's is? What's going on with your team and the struggles that you've had and look, let's call him struggles. You're six and five. Is it something on the court, is it something in the locker room? Or do you get to have any sense you ask him that question of where that of what might be. I'm curious how he answers this question. Ask him that question. It's a great question. It's the question,

it's a legit question. It's the question. I mean, I don't know if you'd get pissed at the question, and it's certainly a question that needs to be asked. He will, he will in a maybe not show it way, but he will. But that's fine. I won't like the question, yeah, but that's a great it's the question. It's the question. He won't like the question. I mean, you know, we've asked questions before that the coaches didn't like. Am I got told once it's that you

asked Jed Fisher question. He's really mad at you, mad at me for what? And that's part of the problem with the locals. Most of our fans, and they are journalists. I don't mind asking that, okay, And that's the question because that I mean, that is I mean, that's isn't that the one? The number one thing people are wondering about this team? Right? That's what about this? What's the problem? Is it on the court? Is it somewhere else? Can you can couch it the way

you did too? It's not a you know, two months ago you guys were humming along blah blah blah. What happened gives yeah, interpersonal thing like what's the difference between what happened in twenty twenty three? And what's happening in twenty twenty four. Yeah, absolutely, Okay, not afraid. I'll fight him. It's not a bo it's not afraid, but I'll fight. It's because you don't go to the press, cousin, and I don't either. But it's the people who cover up they're and Bruce is not. But it's

more fandom than it is press. Yeah, it's true. And that's part of the social media outrage that we see after every game too, because that a lot of people that are trusted for for reaction informed, they're not. They're not getting they're not getting those answers. No, I can't. I can't ask him that after a game. I can ask him that in the course of our Tuesday weekday press conferences because I'm That's why I don't come to the press conferences, because I'm part of the staff work in the game.

We'll let me ask you to Yeah, you ask him, No, No, no, because I don't need to write it down for you. No, no, no, I have no problem asking. But the thing is, let's say they kick the crap out of Oregon. You asked that question, what the hell do you want exactly right? That that changes things that's exactly it's time and place. But if they lose to Oregon, it's a legit question, absolutely, all right, circumstance. Nice job today, Kevin,

Nice time about a week, Kevin. Appreciate you sitting in a couple of times. Steve dub podcastcast. Be sure to check out the podcast. It'll be up tonight.
