in Arizona basketball. Well, it's it's it's it's it's it's it's ugly. It Ugly's a good word. It's ugly man man man. So, uh, they could come back from nineteen against usually, but they can't hold a twelve point lead against Oregon State. I you know, I was trying to think of a word or words last night and I couldn't come up with one, right, I mean, I'm at a loss, uh, as as probably Tommy Lloyd is. Yeah, Yeah, it's kind of like there there
there's nothing. It's just it's bad, but you're not sure why why it's bad. Well, that's the whole thing. And they're not gonna disclose what it is, because one, I don't think nor should they. But Tommy doesn't know what it is. He does or he knows, but he can't fix it. And I'm siding with that more than anything. Yeah, I
think he knows. I mean he made he you know, he made some comments last night about their perimeter defense, which he has made before, and then he specifically said, you know, the big guys aren't obviously don't think other big guys can can make threes and they're not guarding. So so Jay, Uh, what shoulday? January twenty sixth or whatever it is? Yeah? Uh, five six weeks ago. Uh, we were talking just I don't know about any flaws with his team. Yeah, any flaws with his
team? The good of Perdue. Play at Perdue. Oh, there's the flaw there. Yeah, but Purdue is really good, so they expose that. Okay, Jay, So they play another team and and well there's another flaw. It's the same flaw. It's just bigger than there's other issues. Though. That I threw the ballou free throws. Everybody was all, oh, he learned how as you free throws? Jay? Jay? If I'm if I'm buried and I my wife tells me to bring the bread ten times,
and I forget nine times. But I bring you that once. It's more likely, But I forget the level of time. He did well one day. You can't you are who you are. You can't fix what you do overnight. Now you're you're right, But the problem goes way way way down. No, no, no, there's there's about five or six. The big problem is that Tommy said their perimeter defense, and then what the
hell has happened to Colin Boswell? There's there's three, there's three. So so Jay, all of a sudden, six weeks ago we talked about this team not being flawed. Right now they have more flaws than happiness or good yeah, yeah, no there and then and the things that they were doing well before they're not doing well. Well. Here's the thing. Look, there there's still I mean, there's still strong under the basket. You know,
they're they're scoring points in the paint. But it things they're just again as we said, yes, there's there seems to be no flow to their offense anymore, pretty much. So and and maybe the flow is because you know, there's a very squeaky wheel in there, and and I don't I don't want to put all the blame on Kylin Boswell because it's not on his fault, but it's a fact he's not playing like Kylin Boswell had been playing up until a few weeks ago. He's not playing very And I don't know
what it is is. You know, it's something in his head. He's being asked to do something that he's not prepared to do or can't do. Uh. Is he just lost all the all of his confidence and can't and and and and can't get it back. He could be putting too much pressure on himself, right, Well, yeah, did you see his body language
in terms of him struggling with himself? Well, couple of games. I saw when he got called for his fourth foul and he's walking off the course and cussing up, and you know, he led a couple of big ones out. Have you seen him more emotional before this time? He's just playing very steady, very steady, very stoic. It didn't look like anything got
to him there last night. You saw that it's getting to him. Correct And again you know, we're we're throwing his name out there, and and I you know, I don't want to you know, it's not all his fault because this team is not playing very well. No. In fact, Kevin, Kevin, uh, Brian, you didn't listen to a post game, So, Brian, I listened to Tommy. Okay, you listen. Okay, So the questions, Brian's very nice to Tommy, very nice. He couches the questions very simple, so he won't get he he hasked.
I mean, that's that's part of his but that's I'm kind of setting up. So he's nice. But but even Tommy has kind of interjected his well bribbly and you know this this or that, and he's he's gotten on Boswell a couple of times, right, you know he's not. He better not mention he's eighteen anymore, because he's not eighteen. He's gone through forty some almost fifty games. And if you're not good by now, or you're not playing well, that's on you. And then he talked about ball the big
men, well he said the big men didn't guard right. But that's not only the thing from Ballow. He plays small. He's played and you talked about one in the women and I won't mention your name because I forgot it right now falling down and doing all these things bollows. A big dude, a big strong dude. He plays on the floor a lot. He doesn't go to the basket hard enough, and he has to get up and down
the court as well. Like it's a it's a physicality thing with him at times, and it's also just a general physical effort thing at times as well, because he has a big frame that could do a lot more of it. I he's he doesn't he doesn't go to the basket hard enough. You know. He he's got to get some of those dunks. He's got to get some of those layups, and so that if he gets filed, that's an end one, not two free throws where he's gonna get one of two,
sure, right, or he was not good. There's so many things that you know, we're picking here and what do we know, but but that's what we do here. And they're just not playing well. And the guy who needs to fix it, and I don't know if it's fixable, it's Tommy, Tommy lay you know, he's uh no, it's it's a and he says, he says, it's on me. I gotta fix this, But I don't know I don't know how what buttons to push there, but there are right, and you could tell from interviews to we talked about
this at least I have with you where he's become shorter. He's definitely shorter with Bruce and even any simple questions just like you know, no, no, no, no, no, you're not gonna go there. We're not gonna do this. Uh. In the toughest times we face as people, you kind of find out who you really are, right, you know?
Man? I mean you wonder you know because like like last year when it was clear that Pally Larson just wasn't, you know, as a starter, just wasn't you know, doing what he needed to do as a starter, wasn't bringing to the table. He saturn, nice, Okay, you're gonna come off the bench, and and then and then he and he uh and and he and he took him out of the starting lineup. You feel like if that that, if Tommy feels like if he does that, that he
just wrecks Kylin Boswell. I was gonna okay, I was gonna go there. So if you're the coach, and what do we know because we don't want to practice, would you change it? I would and take Boswell out. Yeah, just you know again, if Boswell is who we think he is, you know, a good player, a confident player, somebody who believes in himself. Was obviously got you know, the talent and the skills.
You know it might be good. Like sometimes you sit down a quarterback to see the field right, to see how things and maybe you sit him down like I've seen that this. I think this was the third straight game that Boswell has not started the second half. He didn't start the second half of the two games last week. You start the second half last night.
You know, maybe you set him down at the start and says, okay, I want you to see you know, and if you couch it that way, you say, okay, look, this is to help you get your whatever back. Sure, sure, but you know you're the coach. You make decisions. This I totally agree with you. You're playing with a psyche now, right, and he's already out psyched because he's thinking about it too much. He's probably has a thinking problem. But remember back in ninety
seven ninety eight and Miles got out kind of equating apples and orangers. But he was out. He came back right Luke didn't want lut didn't know how to get him. Mesh him in there, mesh him in there. But he was a starter. He was a starter, starter starter. And then Jason Terry says, if you mess with Miles, Miles would have tanked or Miles it would affected Miles. Jason said, put me out, take me off to put me on the bench, keep Miles at the start, I'll
come off the bench. And it worked perfectly. But I'm with you there because you're messing with a person's psyche. But also, if you're an athlete, don't you know, if you're not playing bad, guess where you go? The bed bench most of the time, most of the time. So yeah, I mean, save you know there, There's there's no way of knowing, you know, unless you're in the locker room, on the you
know, on the practice floor. And it doesn't And it's not like he doesn't have dudes waiting kJ Lewis and j and Bradley, right, So I don't know. I don't know what he's going to do. Another part of the sorry to cut you off, but another part of the issue that kind of complicates the decision for Tommy, I'm sure is how long do you let him struggle it out and try to fight through it and also further bring down
his confidence. You could tank him by putting him on the bench. You could also let him tank himself by just shooting his way out of At what point do you do that? Well, he's in three games a good semple size, yeah, or four. It's been more than three games since several game. Yeah, it's been almost like a month and a half. It's been almost the entire conference season. Yeah, right, right, and he was so good, so good, like you couldn't miss he was playing so
well. Yeah, And I don't know what, you know, there's more things go out. What's changed? We have a coller Hi, you're on the R and I and the ball? How you doing today? Disappointing? Yeah? So did you stay up? Brian? Oh yeah, yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment. Well you you got it last night for sure. They punished you. They punished everybody. Well, you know, you know one thing too, you know, Boswell did not have a good game, but a lot of people did not have a good game. The defense
was terrible. Ballow. They got to figure something out, you know, I, I know we're not going to put Vasar in there because they're going to red shirt him. But I'm sitting there, going, we got to figure out something in the middle, you know. I mean, we can't make a dunk. I mean, how many dunks do we miss last night? I think four? I think four? Yeah, just that was just in the first half. Yeah, you know, you know it's eight points we thought away and not not making any free throws, and you know,
and they shot the lights out on the threes and I understand that. And you know that last one was a great shot. You can't take it away from the kid. He was guarded and everything the guy made the shot. Yeah, even before that shot, I was saying, God that the basketball guys are really screwing with Arizona right now because everything they threw up and one thing two people better look at. We may wind up being way we're playing a four or five season. We're talking about that as we came to the
studio, that that could possibly. But right now there are two in the bracketology. But but I think that the narrative nationally hasn't met a two because what they've seen, what they and who's staying up in the East, who's staying up in the East watching this game. Well yeah, but not well. And also one thing that's happening. A lot of teams, a lot of big name teams are losing on the road. Mm hmmmm, so too. All right, man, we'll see what do you think this could be

I don't remember a team doing what this team has done from start to now where they played out of their minds good and then all of a sudden things happened and they went to crap. They were number one in the country, and that's kind of the thing. They were twelve, they went to one, and you're thinking, okay, great, but no loots team. They kind of struggled game or two and then find it again. Shawn's teams, I don't think they really either they were really good or they were just
mediocre. But no team in thirty five years Jay that I can remember would gang gang and then now as a mystery, can you. I'm I can't think of one, and I don't know if there was one, But no, I mean I I don't. They don't have that. And it's not like they'd have bad players. I mean, Sewn have bad players at the end of his ten it's the same players they had they went through that, that went through through November and December exactly. They're just not as fluid.
It's I said last night, it was uneven just a lot of words that I can remember right now. It's it just doesn't and teams are using the zone and slowing them down, and that's always worked against Arizona. But at some point, you you have a two point eight, you pound him INTI you can't right in his bad shot selection at times to count count how many

I don't. I think I've explained this before. I don't. I don't follow I don't follow basketball the way I do football. You know, football is like football is life, right, I you know, you know when Arizona loses to Asu, I hate my life a year until
they beat him again. That's not that's an exaggeration, but uh, you know I'm a football Football losses hurt. You know those football seasons that with someone and Mackovic, those were terrible times. Why is this? Why? Why? What's why is this? I don't know, Steve, And because you know, because there's more games you've heard all. I've just never been that way with basketball. I never. I mean from from the get go, I've I've I get I have more fun with basketball because I don't.
You live and live and die with the basketball team, do you understand what my life? Not feeling a hurd not feeling hurt. Yeah, but I mean, am I am? I? Am? I frustrated? Do I get mad at the team when they play like they're playing right now? Does it bother me? It doesn't bother me from the standpoint I'm walking around, you know, like there's this big cloud over me right and I'm like, what the hell are you guys doing? I get more angry than anything,
angry and frustrated. I don't, you know, I'm not depressed by them, by them losing those even all those first round losses, you know, under loot and whatever. I mean, it was. It wasn't like, you know, the end of the you know, it wasn't like I went into a depression for weeks because the basketball team didn't get to where it got to. Now. Am I excited when they went? Hell? Yeah? But I'm not. I'm not depressed by what I'm saying. I'm just I'm
wondering what the hell is going on. I'm frustrated that I know that this team is better than it's been playing. You know, I just went to the sky. They're six and five in their last eleven games. Yes, yeah, they're very average. They're six and five after after opening, what were they nine? And oh they're six and five cincent, It's like, what the hell are you doing? So, no, I'm not depressed. I know there's a lot of people who are. I'm not panicked because I
don't care enough to be panicked. But I'm also thinking, you guys, you know you got to get better than this, because this is not fun to watch. No, No, there could be I agree with Brian, there could be a four. See, the national media doesn't have a clue what this team is. Uh, they just don't because theyn't see him enough. They just know what. They beat Duke, they beat Michigan State,
they beat right. They look at their schedules, schedule looks like, oh, they beat a bunch of teams, right, but look at their last eleven games. Well, in my story, now that you asked, it's just all the magic they had earned, all the credit they had earned, gone gone. Baby. It is spent, and they're about they're about to go on the other side, on the other side, to go into the
red. You know, if they come back, if they're five and four in the conference after after Oregon tomorrow, they're in the middle of the pack of a bad league, Jay A few months of weeks ago. Are they gonna lose a game in the pack to I know, Steve, I know they've lost this and they've lost five games with a chance of almost losing last weekend juice. The thing is they've lost too bad teams. Yes, yes, yes, I'm picking them to win. The bad team. You know,
Washington State. There's a mediocre Oregon State. Oh my god, Hi, you're on the air and eye on the ball. Hey, how you guys doing, Howard, They're gonna be more depressed. No, no, I was trying to be Nico, of course. Nono. Yeah, I didn't. I didn't. I didn't stay up because I don't watch it. I just followed on my phone. Remember I told you that that one person they had the name of like a girl, just like Bradley. They have his name on what I listened to off the internet. It says Bradler Way.
Yeah. And and he's gonna have to get more of a bench. He's gonna have that slip guy. He's gonna have to be in there. And I told you guys, they got to switch out Lewis with they got I think Lewis will do better starting and uh Boswell will do better coming off the bench. Well, I think they go to Bradley, did They probably go to Bradley first and see how it goes. But I don't think he's a point guard because he loves to shoot the ball. It shoots them bout
to the detriment of the team because he doesn't pass for you. No, no, no, Bradley, I'm just saying I mean Lewis. Oh yeah, yeah, no, no, no, I agree with I understand what you said, but I'm thinking before they do that, they try Bradley first. Okay, And of course you guys are mentioning too. I'm gonna give you credit. Crevious Crevious needs to start for Battle too, because he's a
better free friend. He's just he scores more and he's better. Well, you know, in the last few minutes, guys, they went small. They had no choice but to go small because you didn't know him and they need to catch up. It was a miracle that they actually tied the game. It was a miracle that they tied the game. That four point play helped tremendously, and then the steal and the pellet shot when they hit that
three that put him up nine. I took a couple of minutes, last two minutes and change left and my wife sitting next I said, they just lost the game. Now, yes, they did tie it, but they still lost the game. You know, it was too far. It was too far to come back. Well, I'm gonna course have to give the Phoenix Report for his breaking news. We won seven in a row, and we're playing again to night, and we're playing in Miami, the Florida Swing
Sunday Monday. And they go to that small, small offense with with Durant playing the five. Yeah, and that's like their killer catch up offense. Yeah, they're pretty good. Right now, they're playing spect and I just got my tickets. But when they come off the road trip to see the Greek Freak, I can't wait because I've never seen the Slim Reaper either. Nice. Let's let's figure this. Because you're sixty four, and we say in age is pretty easy, year sixty four, So sixty four minus
twenty seven. You were thirty seven years old when they won the title, and they were pretty good before in your twenties to the thirty seventh. Oh so so, and then the internet came. So it's twenty seven years, twenty three since the last final four. So today's kids who grew up, they know Arizona basketball most recent, right, And you could just read it. It's Twitter, and you can just read them just being really pissed, really bitter and blah blah blah. Guys like you and me, Oh you
know whatever, I remember when they were no good? Yeah, exactly, so you're not going on Twitter and all this to pissing off people and saying this team sucks. But it's more, it's more the crowd that seen them success or grow up with them being successful, are the ones that are all. These guys are trash. Yeah, yeah they yeah, they take it personal like they're losing to piss them off. I just this is about you. We're gonna lose this game because I want to make you mad. Fred

Well again that you know the stat that that you keep hearing, Tommy has not lost two games in
a row since he's been here. Here's the other stat though I was telling the kid here, they haven't. They haven't beaten the Oregon six straight times in Oregon. In Oregon, they've lot there's two trends fighting each other exactly exactly which one you're going to take exactly exactly? I don't know. I don't know. I again at a loss. I don't know what to think
about this, about this team and where it is today. And because as I just said, you know, I don't know if this team is going to fight back or this team is going to say, well, hell, you know, let's get into the tournament. You know, we've seen that. Get a couple of things. What happened and you and you mentioned that question of are they going to lay down or are they going to fight back? And are we sure that they know what the team is made of within
their own locker? Are we sure about like if they are on the same page about what they're going to And I guess one of the questions is when when you know you got you've got uh Conan Boswell playing not very well? Can he lead this team? Because we thought he we we thought early on in the season this was his team and he and he was leading this team. Can you lead when you're playing like and not not contributing the way you
be contributing? Right right, We'll see, We'll see Oregon. Since our last show, at least since Monday, Oregon has improved to ten and oh at home. needs to change this Arizona is not playing Arizona men's basketball. We should be dominating these horrible teams, but for some for some other reason, we're not. So I think two players need to be right in the bench, Colin Bosswell and bollow Or trying to figure out what what is going on with them? And and if I was Tommy Lloyd, I would be pissed off too. And here's the thing. I'm more frustrated with Tommy Lloyd with this laisy fare attitude, all calm, cold, collected. This is not Gazaga men's
basketball. This is Arizona men's basketball. Come on, you gotta coach these players. You gotta skee wort, you gotta hold them accountable. And also in this seam, there is no TJ McConnell. There's no a general general, a general little manager. Okay, I don't know, you guys. I'm just really frustrated. Everything you say, gave. Everything you say is spot on because when I was watching the game and people communicate with me and
don't let me right and blah blah blah. They don't have a t J. There's only been a couple of tjs in the last twenty years, right, So you're it's very rare. But you're you're right, they don't have a guy. Uh. And you know I was going to bring this up to you, Jay, Tommy, we don't know. He's not going to be you know, Sean Miller, you know, firing off f bombs, you know that where you can read his lips in a game.
He's not that guy, and he's not going to do that to his team publicly. I'm guessing today was a very hard day for the Arizona men's basketball team at their practice. Also can listen. I know you guys and all the Arizona minio are working your assets off, and I really love and appreciate you guys covering Arizona media. And I think us fans, we're just frustrated.
Arizona's just not playing Arizona men's basketball. And I think Tommy, I know, Tommy Loy is winning a lot of games, but if you can't hold your players accountable, then what what are you doing as a coach? You are being paid millions and millions of dollars, but you can't hold players accountable. I just what what's that? What is going on? Come on at the head guy at the University of Arizona for man's basketball. As a coach, you need to be a leader, You need to be Hey,
you guys, what's going on? You're right, Gabe, Everything you say is exactly right. But we got to go gab real quick, all right? I hear wait, wait, hear you, Gabe, And you sound like probably a lot of Arizona fans field right. He thanks about for the call, man, have you no? He said, all those fields? The only the only thing that that we don't know, you know, he talks about is Tommy holding the players accountable. I don't think we know that
he's not right. You know, he's managing this team the way he thinks is the best way to manage the team, you know. I mean, and look, he did call out you know. He said, Connor, Buzzo's got to play better. You just got to play better. Said our BIG's got to defend better out on the perimeter. He did. He said some things that he normally doesn't say. So that tells me if he's saying things like that publicly, that in the locker room, I'm guessing he's not
pleasant to be around. With his basketball team right now and this and then you know, whatever they're doing to practice today, which they might have been practicing around now up at Oregon. I'm guessing it's you know, he's got
their attention. You know, it's just what does that translate into. And if it's so painfully obvious to the to the viewer for watching from home and Tucson all the way out in Corvallis, you know, Tommy Lloyd is understanding what the problem is on the court, at least in terms of ex's and o's. I have more on the Kylin Boswell slumping thing. Yeah, there was a graphic going around X today on from the field of sixty eight.
Kylon Boswell in Arizona's victories is averaging eleven point three points per game, four point three assists on forty seven percent from the field and forty seven percent from the three. In the losses, he's just averaging four point six points per game, two point six assists on twenty percent from the field. That got a lot of play on Facebook, got a lot of play on Facebook today. He's one of the he's one of the few problems. Yeah, they
have a few. They they have a few so let me let me say this because he brought up Gonzaga, you know who the last team out of the tournament was. So so. I remember two months ago people and I even said this that Tommy was the secret weapon for Mark. Few up there say the secret sauce, secret sauce, secret sauce. Yeah, one of those. Yeah, another separated, another kind of both struggling without each other. Right, Hey, yeah, it happens. It happens. Happens,
you know, and and and again, let's let's not forget. This is Tommy's third year. You know where we're uh influenced by what he did those first two years. If he was you know, if those first two years had been you know, kind of so so, and then this is where he was this year. Yeah, a game out of a game out of first place in the PAC twelve whatever. Arizona fans look at it differently, very much. So the problem is it's not that, not that way.
The reality is, you know, people believe that he's the final four quality coach with a final four quality team. Yeah, and they're playing like a bubble team. You should not have sold ten cars that month, Jay, because you have to say nineteen the next month and twenty the next Yeah, you set yourself up for failure. Man. Yeah, no, uh boy, this is I mean, stee. We've been kicking this around for almost an hour now. Yeah, and there's no answers. There's no answers,
no exactly. I still think they're gonna win win tomorrow. I do too, and so does my Draft Kings account. I am not going to touch it. No, please don't, please don't, I will say. Don't you know if after I left, I went and had daughter. I went and had dinner with my daughters and we were talking about the game, and my daughter, Rachel, who's the bigger fan of the two of them, like, what do you think? And I said, you know, the line is nineteen and if I had to bet it taking those points, oh
yeah, yeah, they're on they're on the road. They've been playing like crap in Oregon State. What was the money? I don't know, that had to be huge. But I'm taking those points if I if i'm if I'm betting the game, I didn't, and you know, but I would have taken the point because you know, and even when they when they went up twelve in the first half, I thought they're still not going to cover
this. So so this was the equivalent of a one foot put, if not more, yeah or less, I should say yeah, and it didn't happen. And it did that. That line is there's so many points if I would love for to cover that, and I'm going to stay away from it. I took the over they over ended up hitting, but that nineteen points. I was like, looking at this Arizona team, I was like, how is they? How is how are they favored tomorrow
at Oregon? How are they favored Oregon? Still believe Oregon's undefeated at home? People still in the first place. Arizona just got beat Oregon State. They're playing like crap. They're six and five in their last eleven and their favorite I'm going to give you this media guy that you need to study. You're betting on a bounce back, right right. That's why that line is the way right and historically that's what they've done, what they've done, because
look what they did. They dropped it by fifteen points just based on the Oregon State laws. Yeah, I mean, look, they never get swept on the road. I mean, let's go all the way back to forever. Yeah, no, I witness it. Yeah, they always go win one out of two on the road at least. Yeah, very few, very few road sweeps. Again, I remember the road sweeping at Oregon the year that Luke kicked the basketball. They never It's just what they do.
It's just what it is. They always play up for big games and played down for games. It's always been the case. So we'll see, we'll see what happens with Tommy. You asked, you asked Jay this earlier what he would do if he was in Tommy's shoes. As far as the rotation, what would you do if I would take Boswell out? I don't know. He's already taking him out in the same half. Give him, give
him a six seven first time out TV timeout, maybe more. Who knows, because if kJ is the guy, I would put KG and I wouldn't put Bradley in. But who's handling the ball that it has to be Bradley's the Bradley's brought the point. That's the problem. But but but you know, if the reason you're taking Kyle of Boswell lot is because he doesn't he's not scoring enough enough. Bradley's not a score. He's not gonna he's not
gonna start throwing in threes from somewhere. But he thinks he can get He goes to the hoop, he goes to the basket right and too much j But that's that's another thing. That's another thing that Boswell has stopped doing as well. Right, he's tentative. He's played very passive, very tentative.
It's like he's afraid to make a mistake. And I don't know why he's if that's the case, I don't know why he's got that mentality, because you know Tommy's never Tommy's not been to coach you, and that you're looking over your shoulder at right. Jade Bradley is currently averaging two assists a game, which is in how many minutes? Probably fifteen. Yeah he's averaging No, he's averaging twenty minutes a game. Okay, So so so you'd think that, you know, if he's playing, if he starts and plays twenty
five or thirty minutes, that there's probably another assistant. Yeah, yeah, no, it doesn't know. But I mean if your point guard has you know, three, four or five assists in a game, you know that's not horrible. It's not horrible. But he's not that. But Boswell was doing more than Yeah, he was doing way more than that. It's very bizarre. Yeah, it's very bizarre. Yeah, it's this team is I'm I'm gonna use the word fluoxed. I'm flxed by this team. Sat right,
