This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera and Jay Gonzalez on Fox Sports fourteen fifty powered by Nova Insurance Services and Sure Your Most Prized Possessions kat z R two SAD at iHeartRadio Station. Good, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to Eye on the Ball here on Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve Rivera. He's Jagan Zaues. We have sit in today again on Friday. Let me ask you something I already asked you this this week, said was not
here. I don't think you trust this basketball team. No. I mean, come on, we know the road's going to be tough, but let me tell you something. Twenty games in, you trust this team. I trust this team to be very unpredictable. So is that no? Well, you know it's funny because look, let's say it was huge that they won that game. Yes, triple overtime on the road. It beats you low sixteen point lead. Uh, you know you got another tough one coming up
on Saturday. It's a big deal that they won that game last night. A big deal, A really big deal. And in fact, I did see that. In yesterday's bracketology, Lenardi said that Joe Lonardi said that if Arizona be to Utah, they'll they'll leap over Tennessee and be on the one min And they did, and they did. So they did that today.
Okay, so it's a big deal. And they were poisoned loose. Okay, but then you think about, Okay, you had a sixteen point lead and you let these guys go off in the second half from the three point line again, you got to fix that. Wait wait, wait, wait, wait wait. So I'm the guy that tells you guys and all the listeners, Okay, learning lesson right, learning lesson? Yeah, how many
learning lessons you need? The lesson has been taught four times now and they haven't learned, so you think that's gonna So, you know, as they're going through it, and at the end of the game, you know, we're you know, we're we're watching this game and my my my son Adam, and my daughter Rachel, my wife, were watching this game and like we had stuff to do after the game, and I hope it wasn't scheduled.
We get it was no, no, but for eight o'clock. Yeah, So we get to the end of the game and I'm like, you know, I said it's great that they won. I said, all those thdden great that they won. You know, it was a game that they easily could have lost. It would have hurt to lose. After leading by said they're gonna have to fix that because none of these teams that are doing that are maybe even n C double a team. Right. No, No, And there's your thing. That's why you two came in the building today,
your thoughts on the game. It's and I think this if if it doesn't get the I think it's just gonna be a Tommy Is it gonna be a Tommy Lloyd team thing? I don't know. But let me say this. If they moved to the one line, you think there are a number one team in the country, a number one scene in the country. Not right now, what you know of this? Not right now? Not not
not right now. I think I think they're still there. I think they're more towards the tail end of the two line because of this, just because of this everything else, because you look at you look at Caleb Love and how you know they've got a guy there who we always talk about having a guy who's gonna take and make the shot that you need. Now I know he missed a couple of them last night, but he made a couple and
overtime right in the overtime and stuff. You know, you've got Umar Balow, who, as much as we say, he doesn't look like he's taking, you know, the big leap. He has been pretty damn good. Coming down in this thread is really damn good. The only thing I don't like about Ballo is like everybody else did those two things. Because in fact, Brian Peterson tweeted at me last night page thirty ish and he says, somewhere Steve Rivera was smirking, you know, and I didn't n understand why
he said that. I just said, okay, But then I realized, I'm the guy who said, cayleb Love at some point along the way, maybe in March, he's gonna shoot you out of a game, and you're gonna depend on him, and he's gonna shoot you and you're gonna say, what the hell just happened? So that's what that's what the reference right right. There were a couple of shots and throws. That's all I have. But I I feel like Caleb Love is going to make more than he misses
in those situations. And I think you can say, well, the misses like last night he takes a thirty footer at the end of the overtime, What the hell was that was that? Was that a a that? Wasn't that a Caleb Love thing? Or was that drawn up? No? Come on, yeah, but you know, but look at the overtime before that that you know, uh, Colin Boswall took a twenty five footer at the
end of overtime. What are they doing? So but I still I still believe in Caleb Love that he's going to be a guy that will win you a game, you know, in the tournament by doing something like that, by going off for thirty or hitting the big shot or whatever. Yeah. I wanted to ask you guys this though, would you be more nervous about this team in the first weekend or the second one. I'm more nervous on
the first weekend. Here's why, because those teams that you're gonna face in the first weekend, they're there usually because they've got guys who can make three pointers and throw that in. In addition to Arizona overlooking those type of teams, right, they're not Those teams aren't generally built to beat you inside.
They don't have guys like Umar Balow on their team. The Santa Clara they are those guys who've got a bunch of six foot two guys, you know, dead eye shooters from the outside, and like, you know, I mean some of those shots they were making last night, I'm like, you know, they're crazy shots. But it's like, how many of them are wide open? Well, let me say, and how many minutes did they myth White, come on, all the games that they've lost, you said
four or five? Now, which is true. Everyone says, Oh, they just get lucky or they get good because there was no No, you can't look a thing. Look, how many times is lucky the thing? Now, you gotta quit relying on that, right, And does every team get up for Arizona? Yeah? Yet? So how many lessons learned do you need before you pass this test? Yeah? No, I know it. It's look, they know it. I'm sure they know it too, But why why isn't it translating into playing the type of defense that doesn't allow
that to happen. It's damn good to let that happen against teams like you know you're talking about now, Stanford, UCLA, Washington State and Utah. Four teams, none of whom maybe Utah gets in the tournament, but those other three are not who have all done this to you? All right? And then Purdue did it to you. One guy get it to you. Yeah, well, fau is every I don't think that was so much outside
shooting as it was just one guy who was making everything from everything. Well, and the other guys were hitting shots as well, but still, but this specifically, the three point shot was what was was the killers in all those games. Now they beat U C. L A. And they beat Utah because you know, despite that, But man, I just walked away from the game thinking, yes, you you won the game, and I'll give it to you for showing some nad and winning the game in a tough
situation, tough environment, triple overtime. You beat the hell you're in elevation. Uh, the crowd was, you know what, was crazy and you won the game. I'm gonna give you that, and that's what and that's what. That's how Tommy Low sold it. But on the other hand, man, you know, you keep doing that, you're gonna run into a Princeton or a Saint Peter's or somebody who's gonna beat you that way. But that's why I asked, do you trust this team? Uh? Are You're
not in your head? Do you know? I think no matter what, because there aren't enough games left to play for you to say, Okay, you've fixed it, right, We're gonna go into the n CYUAA tournament thinking this could happen in any game without without question. I mean, you have a broken down car, but you love it, you still pay, make you paid, you fix the alternator, but you're still worried that it's gonna go out. That's that's it right there, That's where I was gonna go
with it, because you can't trust it to get you across town. You're just looking at the monitors hoping, please don't, please don't, please don't. And that's kind of what this team is in Spurts, they let, they let go for some reason. It's very if you're a fan of some guy just texted me maybe in jest, I broke my computer. Yeah, I mean, yeah, you know. I mean, it's just it's just
frustrating to watch. You feel like they're better than that. Oh and you know they're better than this because they've already teased you on how good they can be. That's the problem. They gave you a big tease that first game, and and and now you say, oh, what happened to this team? Well, they're not playing Duke every week. They're not playing Duke every week. Yeah no, I I yeah, man, I don't know. So so. But the thing about it, Jay, and we talk about
this all the time, and you see it. You don't read you don't read the you know it's it's they're bunkers tweeting things. Oh wow, you know. But no, I you know what, at the end of the game, I went back to what everybody was saying. And you can't argue with a lot of what was being said because they oh no, no, no, I agree with you. I would. I would compile a list and just say, okay, you jumped, you jumped, you jumped to your bad wagon. Okay, you're off the list. You can't come back.
I don't read those ones, but I'm saying I read that. I go read the stuff that you know, you know, Brian Peterson, Troy Hutcheson, No, no, all those guys, all us, I don't know. I don't read the basement. I don't know. I don't read that. I don't read the basement, you know, my mom's basement with a bag of cheetahs. I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. I know I can't look. My brother is one of those guys, and I don't listen. I block him. I don't even know why I do
it. I just maybe fit entertainment. But I said, well, you guys, you know why you can though, because you're not dug in like I. Right, you don't really care. The fun you think about is today this morning. This is must have been a great game to watch and exciting. I'm thinking, yeah, okay, it didn't mean any to me. You're right, I was just watching this. What am I gonna write about? I mean, it was an incredible game. It was fun,
it was it was an incredible game. Both teams kept making plays when it got to overtime, When it got to the first time, when when they went into overtime the first overtime at the end of regulation, I thought, they're gonna lose because they're not They're not at home. They had this big lead, Utah's got the momentum. Important thing there, they're they're they're gonna
lose and the momentum didn't mean anything, and then they didn't. And not only did they not lose, they they covered, but they got lucky to cover. They got lucky to cover and lucky to win the game. When the kids stepped out of the bounds at what possession they got the ball back and and Love show So why did he step out of bouds Because that was great defense. All they didn't call it. Well, there were a couple
of falls that they didn't call. They didn't the way the one on the one on on uh on Love at the end of overtime when he did that floating jumper and he got he clearly got bumped and that clearly should have been a foul. They didn't go so they weren't gonna call that stuff. But it was great defense by Umar under the basket. This guy's trying to come through here and I'm not gonna let him through here, and the guy stepped
out. That's an example of the great defense that they play. Sometimes sometimes it's not good, it's not good enough. No, they they you know, they nearly they nearly screwed the pooch last night, and they they you know, and then they would have had to go into the you know, Saturday, after having played three overtime and having to win that game, and now they've won this game. I'm not saying they can or should relax,
but you've got the you've got the one in your back pocket. If you go home and this is the best you did going then just take it. But they have an opportunity to sweep the series, which would really you know, continue solidifying. Look, if they keep winning these games, I guess you say, well, in spite of that, they're winning these games, but you just got to know that when they get dan cuaa tournament, they're gonna face better teams than this. Well, and those teams can do this.
Man, they're in trouble. So we have three more minutes, but no time. I don't know this. I don't know this. I think the previous Tommy Lloyd teams didn't give me this odds. They didn't just didn't give me this because and what do I care? Right, if they win, they win, they win the door. But this team, compared to the other two, aren't like those other two. Those other two teams, you you felt comfortable with those two teams. This one you don't feel comfortable.
No, if you look back and you were you you like those last year's team and the year before. But I think that with those guys though, we always had the toughness. Fact, well, you're worried about it. You didn't know this until you get your ass, Kia, because you're going to TCU and you get beat in your team. Where did that come from? You were not tough enough? And then a week later you get
your butt bean, you do know what to say? You don't know until you know, So you don't know until no. But we we thought that they weren't, no, really tough, going to you every tape that we had then last year and then last year, did you didn't you feel confident in this team on that team? Well yeah, yeah I did. But I still thought if they were an into a highly fityical team that they that they were going. Yeah, and here they were. They did and they
did well. They didn't beat back, They didn't get bepa physical team, they got beat back team. He shot the hell out of the ball and here we are. Yeah, So how many lessons do you need to learn? Well, let's hope, let's I don't know. You know again, as I said, no matter what, no matter what happens in their last however many games they've got left. We're going into the n c n cub A tournament thing. If they run into a good shooting team, they could
be trouble. But to answer you a good question, the first week, the first week, that's where you were into those guys, that's where you're into. I was thinking that shot the guy from Northern Iowa who made that three against Duke. Yeah, Duke, I think you know being you know those kinds of thing, you know, that's that's where you see that happen. Well, let's talk about you. But the one thing that Tommy talks about all the time, or he did before, he hasn't talked about it
much. This is that wiggle room. I can't remember the phrase he says, give them enough space where they can you know, yeah, beat up twelve fifteen with that running and stuff. They're not. They used it all up in a hurry, they do. They used in a hurry. Okay, all right, real quick, great show. All right, this time we've got a super Bowl champion on the show. Josh Miller. Hey, welcome back to the ball here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Vera, He's Jagan Zalaz. Now on the phone, we have Josh Miller, a Super Bowl champion the first of this week. Good to talk to you, Josh. It's been about three some years since we talked to you last. It's been a while. I know, I guess that's I mean, it's kind of your fault, right I should be mad at you. No question here, no questions. It's our fault. We have a lot to talk about, you know. Here's the here's the problem, Josh.
We sometimes don't remember whether or not we've talked to somebody. So that's that's that's a part of it. A couple of you know what. And I'm at the same age where I forget if I did, so maybe maybe we did talk. I mean, we all could be mistaken. So it's super Bowl week, Josh, you know, you one one, so it's I'm sure it feels different to you than the other four guys would talked to you earlier this week. But you know, what, what is super Bowl week
like for you? And you know, do you kind of revisit the memories and whatnot, But what's it like for you? I mean I kind of relive it a little bit as far as my goodness, I know what the guys are thinking at this point. You know, the closer you get to the game, the more the more you realize how many eyeballs are going to be on this game, how important is the game. You know, you're
done already getting all your family members taken care of and situated. Then you're like, oh my god, this is a big game, you know. And for me as a punter, you know, I didn't my playbook, you know, it was like a pamphlet. Yeah, so I mean, I I had nothing to do all week, So I mean I really had time just to mess with my own head. In fact, the funny, I don't know if it's funny, it's a sad story. Is I remember
the day before the game. I you know, I literally, I you know, And I'm not terribly religious, right, I understand that there's there's there's things that take place above me and before me. And when I'm done, I'll meet somebody. I mean, I'm you know, I'm that. I'm I'm like a cartoon religious, right. I mean, I know enough to know enough to get in, but I'm not. You know, I don't. I don't throw it on other people. But I tell you what,
day before the game, I got down on my knees. I said, God, I don't care if we win or lose, just don't let me be the reason why we were. I'll leave it, I said, I'll leave. I'll leave the rest to you whatever happens. I greatly appreciate you letting me get here. But it's nerve wracking as hell, because you
know, you know how it is. You go to a game, you the at the football players are on the field, maybe like three hours before the game and their shorts and they're walking around their head, you know, their head set on listen to music. At the super Bowl there was sixty thousand people in the seats already, yeah, and You're just like, and there's cameras everywhere, and you know, it was so funny. I said one of the dumbest things I've ever said in my life. I'm They're in
the super Bowl, you know. I was stretching on the hash on the left, hash right on the right, right by the numbers actually, and President Bush and President Clinton they're walking down there, just walking down towards me, and I'm like, they're sixty yards away. I'm like, oh, at school. The President look at that. That's neat. And they kept going, getting closer and closer, and and I'm like, I got to say something or I'm not. Should I move? I'm like, I'm stretching.
This is my field, right, So I'm like, they should move. So I'm sitting there stretching. As they got up to me literally a foot. I looked up and I said, you know, good s boys, you know, and asked me, I don't know if I'm allowed to curse or good S boys? And then I just went back down and then into the right and I was just like, oh my god, what did I just say? And they walked past me on my and then I'm saying about that. Good s boys, that's what you say the two president.
So I thought about that probably to the third quarter, and then I realized I was in the super Bowl and uh so. So that just gives you a snapshot you it's it's nerve wracking as hell. My best experience there was probably And I have this on the wall, which is funny. I have my jersey I put in a frame that obviously means a lot to me, you know, the Super Bowl jersey, but if there's a big ketchup staying on it because at halftime, Paul McCartney was playing all his hits and I'm
like, why do I have to go in the locker room. There's no adjustments for me. So I sat on stage watching Paul McCartney rip his greatest hints, and for me, that was one of the greatest memories of that night. I was, you know what I was gonna ask some previous guys because we had some It was who was rolling stones? Yeah, yeah, yeah, joke. Defoy was standing next to Mick Jagger in the tunnel. That's funny. Did did did you learn anything from not going into the locker
room or did they care? Did they know you weren't there? Uh? You know, Belichick knows everything. Like Miller, I saw you weren't there. That's five grand I think. I don't know if he ever took I didn't know if if he was he meant it or not. He sure as how didn't smile after he said it, so I'm assuming I got he took it somewhere during the some of some of the bonuses. But it was awesome. He was Paul McCartney, that is absolutely you know, just played all
his great ones Fan on the Run. Yeah, he's not a couple of Beatles songs. I mean it was just unbelievable. And I'm like, okay that that was the greatest. That was the greatest content I've ever been to. And I literally was wearing my uniform eating a hot dog. It was a five thousand dollars Well that was the super Bowl. Then after the Janet Jackson uh incident, because remember they they this country lost its mind over that, and so they had to get it. They had to get a safe
a safe act for the next halftime show. That wasn't going to do anything. That's crazy, that's that's that's incredible. So so so Josh, you know, let's tell us a little bit about getting to the super Bowl. You know, you got when you won the conference championship. Now you're with the Patriots, so they were it was they had were sort of in the middle of this run because I think this was the third super Bowl in four
years. So you guys win the conference championship when that game ends, where you're thinking to yourself, we're in the super Bowl, but not only that, we're going to win a super Bowl because we've got Brady and Gronk and Bruce and all these guys. What was your mindset when you guys, when you realize you were in the super Bowl? It was incredible. And you know, and the guys, as you mentioned, I mean, this was
they're about to go back to back. You know, it's funny. I don't even Let's go back just a little bit further where I was with the Steelers. I just got cut. I had five teams calling me saying come punt for us, and Belichick literally after he won the Super Bowl, we're eating dinner at a Shuler Steakhouse in West Palm and I'm like, Coach, you just won a Super Bowl like twelve days ago. Now you're having dinner
with a punter. I mean, this has to suck for you. And he's like, well, you know, Joe, we have we have a great team, and I want to make sure that our special teams are taken care of. And I want you on this team next year. And I guarantee you we're winning next year. And I called my wife. I'm like, Honey, I'm gonna go to New England. She's like, but you always wanted to play in a decent weather place. I'm like, yo, you know what, they're gonna win a Super Bowl. I'm convinced they are.
He told me he's not a liar. I'm like, we got to go that direction. So yeah, it was. It was awesome. Then then we go ahead in each playoff game. It's funny because you know, when I was with the Stealers, we didn't get too many playoff games for the last couple of years I was there, So you know, after the first one, I'm in there high five and everyone's happy, and Belichick comes and the guy right I'm pretty sure we thought we'd win, you know,
a freaking playoff game. We won a super Bowl last year, let's cut the crap. And then he tell everyone what they did wrong, right, and then and then then we won the next one, and then suddenly we're
in the championship game and this is this blew my mind too. This is my first year with New England in four and I'm looking across the AFC Championship game against the Steelers that I spent, you know, eight years there, and I'm like, I know every single one of these guys, family wives, I know, I know the girlfriends, I know everything about everybody on that side, and I just I was sad that I was extremely happy I
wanted to go to the super Bowl with the Steelers. And then the next year that I get released, I go to the Super Bowl through the Steelers, and uh, that was kind of a pretty cool moment for me. It's funny because a lot of the players don't get to predict or or guide their way through to a title, right. Steve Kerr was a notorious for that because he ended up with Chicago and who had ever thought and he kind
of you did that you were able to think think it through. Yeah, it was uh, you know, I like, how do I get to the Super Bowl? Everybody wants to, you know, at least play in one, probably except for me because I was always scared. But you know, so so I found myself just kind of like, well, you know what do I go play in the dome with a team that will never make the player? So I go with the you know, I go with somebody
that had everybody it's fully loaded. I mean they're loaded. Uh they as you mentioned the names earlier, you know, Teddy, Bruce Ski and and you know and obviously Brady who is just literally just scratching the surface of his greatness. It was like it was a no brainer for me. It was pretty cool. So it was exciting. I was able to win a Great Cup and a Super Bowl. So I think that number is pretty small. That is pretty cool. That is pretty cool. All right, So where's
the ring? What have you done with you with the ring? Well, I'll tell you what. I saw it. We just moved to you know, moved, we just moved locations in Jupiter, and I saw it for the first time in a handful of years. My son took it to shoe and tell one time that was the last time I saw it Before that. I don't wear it a lot. We didn't know we took it. By the way, that was a fun call from the sea. So I wear it once in a while if i'm if I have to go do, if
I'm speaking somewhere, I'll wear it. I hate wearing it. I feel I'm just not a big fan of it. I'm just for me. You know, I wasn't put on the planet to kick a ball, and then so now that I did, I got you know, I'm part of this unbelievable team. I mean I always get amazed every off season. I always thought they'd get rid of punting. I literally swear to you. I thought I thought that was gonna be the call where they're like, well, you
know, we don't need punting. We're just gonna go for it. So I've been extremely fortunate and grateful to be able to play as long as I did. I mean, I know what I look like naked. I don't look like them, So I'm like, how to hew am I wearing the same uniform on the same field with these guys. So my whole journey has been greatly appreciated. On my fort Well, you know you mentioned about punting. Did you see the commissioner talk about stuff like that kicking and punting this
week? Because the only reason I know this is from the guy who does the talk show of Concuss and all that he was the former punner of West Virginia. Oh, Pat mccott. They talked about that that down the road they might eliminate punting and kicking, which makes no sense, but which makes no sense. But you know what, I wouldn't be surprised. They're they're so bored, right, I mean now now, I mean the money that the NFL makes, and they're gonna make you go to peacock to watch a
game and then you gotta wake up. It's just there's so many things that annoy me. I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of them. I'm just happy it didn't happen during my window, of course, and then I would have had to wear a suit and sit in a cubicle and tried to do something. So well, so let me ask you about that. You know, you're you're you're in the game, and you you know you had to you had to punt. You you know, you went and kicked a
few. First time you walked on the field during the game for a punt, you know, you mentioned how you just said you prayed that you wouldn't be the reason that they that that you know that they lost the game. What's going through your head? Uh uh? Touch the ball? Yeah, that's all That's all that I was thinking about. And it's so funny. So yeah, so there I am. You know, I give my my
little request to God, like just don't let me be the reason. And I find myself on the field the last pun of the game with like fifty seven seconds left, and I'm sitting there in the center of the field. I think we're up by a couple and they call a TV time out. So now I'm standing in the middle of the field. I'm like, please, I hope the camera's not on me because I've never had an ass so I'm like, I look like the worst athlete in the world, but I
hope the camera's not on. And then I finally Belichick calls. He's like Miller, so I come running over there. He's like, just kick the ball out of the ends and I don't care where it goes. I'm like, okay, awesome, so I turn around, I run fifteen yards. I hear Miller. I go back and I'm like, yeah, coach. He's like, you know, if you can get inside the ten, that'd be great. I'm like, O, yes, of course, it would
be fantastic. So I turn around, run back. He had me come back again, and then nobody tells me this Hall of Fame coach, the greatest coach of all time and the student of the game. He's like, well, don't drop the ball. I'm like, James, kind of hell do you say that where I'm He's like, yeah, yeah, that was dumb. I'm sorry, just get rid of it. I'm I'm like,
awesome coaching, coach, thank you for that all of it. Actually, So when I ran that got and the ball happened, though, you know, I got it inside the four yard line, and two plays later mcnapped through an interception. My wife was like nine months pregnant, so I had to get her under the field. That was not easy. Uh. And then right after I showered, I went back to the hotel, watched Lionel Ritchie I'm seeing sailing, and then I fell asleep because I was exhausted.
Everyone else went around doing whatever they do. I passed out because I was just exhausted from just the emotional run the roller coaster and winning it was wild, very ful. That's that's hilarious. I'm looking at the play by a player right now. You're fifty five seconds left, you your punt, you pin them at the four, and you guys win the game. So there you go. After after all of it, you know, let's say a month later, you know, where was your mind on what just happened to
you? I was, Yeah, I was. I was surprised, you know, looking back on i'd actually how it played out and being lucky enough to go through it. I was just thankful, very lucky at the right place, right time, surrounded with the right guys, and I just was very thankful that it happened. Well, we appreciate your time. A lot of fun. Let me tell you something though, of this fifteen minute interview, you know what I took the most. You could be a cartoon religious
guy. I'll let you know. I'll let you know if I get in up in heaven with that excuse. That's amazing. So Dot josh Us, what you're doing now. You've got a business out there in Florida, what is that when this is called jail sticks g E L S TX dot com. I work with athletes on the mental game, so there's no there's no training aid for between the ears. So the closest thing I came up with
was something that allows you to practice how you play. So you know, with jel sticks at hockey, golf, lacrosse, we have the tools that allow them to practice how they play. Doing very well. We're about to launch another product called heavy Sleeves HB Y Sleeves, and that has twenty plus applications for all the sports. It's just the we built a better mouse trap with the ankle weights. It's a it's more of a compression sleeve with weights
on it, so now you can adding practice. It's like a doughnut in the baseball bat, but you can take real cuts with it, sprint, run, freeze up your hand. So and I work with athletes on the mental game. You know, there's nothing you know, gal, you know, I work with golfers LPGA girls that should have their tour card but they don't, or you know some you know, you always see the parent youth relationship get a little fractured because there's no real go between because the parent tries
to push a little too hard. I work with you know third Basement that for goot, how to throw the first one day, even though they're making one hundred million dollars a year. It's just wild. It's that's what I'm saying. It's like when when I say that I'm scared, and if any of these guys that come on or say, oh no, that's not true, they're full of it. I mean, they're absolutely full of it. It's it's it's between the ears is the most fragile, fragile part of any
athlete. I remember Jerry Rice went in the Hall of Fame. Everyone thought he was joking when he thought he would get cut every year, But that's the mindset that he had, because you know, it's not insecure, it's just what feeds the athlete. So it's interesting when you finally get it together as an athlete, or at least know what to say and help them get to that next level. So I really enjoyed doing that. We got to talk more about that down the road. That's interesting, very good story.
Yeah, we're gonna keep you in mind. We bring that up a lot. Yeah, so we'll we'll get back with you on that because we definitely would have some, you know, some discussions because we have a psychologists on the show. We had one yesterday. Uh yeah, okay, doctor Miller, thank you very much. Yeah, doctor Miller. Hilarious. Thanks, thanks a whole bunch. Josh, appreciate the time. I appreciate you guys. Have a great weekend again, you too. Thank you. What a
good dude, What a good dude. Yeah, crazy, accept the reference about him being naked. I could have gotten. I could have gone without that part of it. Cartoon religious beep beep. It was I couldn't remember how personable he was because it's been a while, but he was good last time. I don't
you remember why we got him on back because it was early January. It was a Super Bowl thing, something was going on because I because I saw on Facebook and we were talking, and I can remember he said some interesting and things back then. I don't get into it now, but he's obviously that life and the money that you make back there, he's kind of not freedom, has freedom up to do whatever he does. What was the thing
the first one of the twigs was jail Stick Stick. You go to their website and I still really but it's you know, if you it's some sort of a training uh deal that that that uh it's jael s t X dot
com. It's it's sort of some sort of a training mechanism or equipment or whatever that that that they do. Uh that he's in your part of the spell G E. L S t X dot com and uh and then as he said, he does some other looks like he does some other advising work, you know, with with people, which meant fascinating, which is good stuff. Yeah, good stuff. So and again he's won a super Bowl and you know, say whatever you want, nobody will ever, you know,
take that away from like like being heavyweight champion of the world. Right, you'll always be the heavyweight champion of the sure matter, sure, no matter how you know what happened. So yeah, good for good for him. He fell into a good situation. Of course, good players and smart
players go to those good situations, right right. You know, it's like McCaffrey, McCaffrey, and they wanted him obviously, who wouldn't want him, right, Well, the Carolina Panthers apparently didn't right right, right, so you know, either much too much money or whatever, and he landed at the perfect spot. Yeah, perfect spot. Yeah. No, we've got
we've got a we we put a bunch on on Christian McCaffrey. Not a bunch, I mean you know, we've got a we've got a two team or two leg parlay with him for his rushing plus receiving yards over one hundred and twenty eight and a half and then his receptions over four and a half, so we need him to go off a little bit. But we collect a nice little, nice little bounce with that one if we if we hit that. So that's a lot of fun. I love it. You know.
I've told the story that we we started doing this with with with uh prop bets for the super Bowl when we realized we didn't really care about the Super Bowl, right we we we were having a you know, a friend of ours, you know, he threw a super Bowl party. We all went over for the party and when the second half started, we started playing poker and we're playing poker and we're not even watching the game. We're playing
poker, and the game was on. It's kind of in the background and we're playing poker, and all of a sudden, I look at the team. I'm like, guys, the Bills are lining up to win a field goal. Because remember that, well you don't remember, you want to remember the Super Bowls were all blowout. Every year. Every year was a blowout, And like, okay, there's a field goal to win the game. So we stopped watched the field goal. Scott Norwood missed the field goal,
and then we went back to our poker game. So the next year we were talking about the you know, having another party, said, well, I have a party. We don't even care about the game. And then somebody said, you know, there's a sports book down in the Gallas and the rest is history. We started doing this next day. So we're talking since the early nineties, we've been we've been doing this. We have a blast. Now. You don't need to go to Nogallas. No, we
don't. People and do it right from the comfort of my of my office, as we did last night. So we you know, we had about six guys on on a zoom call and we came up with a whole bunch of stuff for the game. Yeah, we forgot to add that we have Jake Fisher at four forty. Yes, the next hour. If you want to call, we have about six minutes. Give us. Give us a quick call. Five to four one six seven four four zero. Do you trust this basketball team that you follow or don't follow? Or follow? I
didn't une follow. Are you holding your breath waiting to see what the hell they're going to do? Yeah, I mean it's people go bonkers. People before are you thinking during the game, did you think game I did I did. I did. It's probably second overtime whatever it was. And because you know when you're watching, when I'm watching, at least, I'm thinking what am I gonna write? What am I right? And I hope that Tommy's good on the radio, And he was good Tony Wan. You know,
he comes up with some funny lines. Did he say or did he say the F And that was the first thing. Asked me, if you can you say that? I said you can, but I didn't hear it. Sure, no, no it was he said, effie. But he you know, he's like that when he wins. Yeah, when he loses, his kind of need a melancholy. But he was fine. He was great. You know. The guy that was really impressive and then you kind
of hope to see more of it is Pellets. He's been playing offensively obviously we know the defense there, but offensively he's been and he took charge. Took charge. Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. He was very aggressive in what he was. He was getting the ball and he was going down the lane. Sure now he had those back to back turnovers that he
went what the hell are you doing? Right? And then you missed those couple of free throws that, you know, but I think I think you have to like the fact that he is taking that responsibility, I guess is the way to say it again. And Jay, this is how I look at things. You know, this it's a one game, it's a one off. It's not a one off. But you're hoping that they translates into more and with your momentum. But it's not like that. Life is not
like that. You can run up against Colorado and then disappear. You know, Boswell doesn't in games. Yeah he did last night. Again, No, even though he played better, he played better, and you know, but and then he got hurt. You're thinking, what the hell? And then he comes back and then he comes you know, my, my, my dartles. His shoulder looks just look, did you see that. I
didn't see that. It just there was just it looked. Now maybe it wasn't dislocated, it's just he's got a knob for a muscle, like yeah, because he's like most of us don't have. But I looked at it. I thought, yeah, it could be you know, it might have
popped out and popped back in or whatever. But apparently it was you know, he was, he was okay, and then he takes that shot with that shoulder or whatever it is. You know, I think that Tommy did admit that he should have called a timeout or two to get some set up there for at least one of the shots, but he let him play.
Yeah, you don't know until you know what worked right exactly exactly. I you know, again, as you say, there's an uneasiness to what they're doing, Yeah, there's definitely an uneasiness because you feel like they run up against a really good team that can do this, They're gonna be in trouble,
right, really are. And I say this to your question, great question, I'm worried more about first round and second round than I am about the rest, because that's when you meet the great teams in the second you know, the second week into the day they always do. You don't worry about that. It's the lower level teams where they just think they can show up and play. And you've been around for four years, haven't you seen that. I've seen it for thirty five. It's just the dynamic of sports.
Hey, you played, I'm sure you suffered it, you know, So it is what I mean, Like we said, you know, going into march. Each game, at the beginning of the game, there might be high level energy, but during the game you got to create the energy. Sure, and if you don't, then that's when you start to fall into that hole. Yeah. See, like Crevis, Crevis didn't have a great game, Hardy saw him exact exactly. But then last week you're thinking, oh, he's getting he's getting it. So it's it's game the game
in situations, the situation. Yeah, and like you said, Babble plays and he has been playing very well. But you asked a lot of bottle last night. Yeah a lot, Yeah did, but he also came from stepped up and gave it to you. That was a great matchup with him in his part, buddy, Yeah, yeah, because the other dude was pretty impressive. Yeah, he had that big block and been a big a bigger shaped dude, a different shaped dude. There's a lot of those, right, yeah, right, because I think has one, l A has
one, and then uh, Oregon with the that's it. That's it, right, So we'll see what happens. Uh. Good luck to you, U a fan. It's going to be a heck of a month and a half. No, but but the thing is that they are capable. You know, they're capable. They are and and that's the thing. You know, on a given day they can smother you deture, right, But on a given day, they can let you shoot as much as you want and let you and let you make as many shots as you want to shoot.
So and that and that's the puzzling part of what's going on over there. I don't well, even as if you guard them tightly or whatever, stuff happens. Situations happened where they can't be stopped. Remember East Tennessee State. I mean, they had just been beat earlier in the year by a bunch and then they came in. They couldn't miss Santa Clara. Who are these kids? And that's how I looked at them last night it was happening in
Salt Lake. It was part of my story, these moppyhead kids who you didn't think everyone was a chill, these guys, and then they win the game last night. They could have won the game. And they're just long haired, floppy kids with the headbed right. Just but you know, yeah, no, I hear you, I hear you. No, it's I just wonder what let's you know, what. I wonder what he's really thinking.
Yeah, he's not gonna tell you, but I'm not gonna. I just wonder, You're right, I wonder what he's thinking about, what's going on with with these guys. Yeah, you know, with Sean, he would say, you know, how do I get to these guys? Tommy's like, hey, we want let's move on one. We gotta go all right, we gotta get out of here. We're gonna take a break, we're gonna come back and we've got some big breaking news for you, so stick around.
