So I think like today, I feel like it's not really like headlines just more kind of just like events like the draft, especially, I guess the

biggest shockers Will Levis, which I don't think. I don't think would have been a shocker if it wasn't for mel Kiper. And there's like mock drafts. I'll be honest, Well, you know there's a lot of people who have said, you know who was saying all these great things about him? Right, and like who you know who made Will Levis you know, a

first round draft pick? And and you know, like you said, some mock draft guys because they're basically saying none of the teams were saying the things about him that Malt Kaiper and some of these other things other guys were saying about it. Well, that's the funny thing about it, because everyone follows the trends of Arizona hoops the draft stuff. Right, well, he's projected

to be this okay, but a lot of them aren't accurate. They're just not you know, come on, man, Manion was here whatever the shuretfire NBA guy, how'd that go? It didn't. There's a lot of hits and missus that just people from the blue kind of say, oh this guy,

this guy, well, not really right. And you know, and are are the I mean, if if the actual scouts or whatever the teams were doing the mock drafts, okay, then right, but you know you got Malt Kaiper and look, Malt Kaiper is good at what he does, and they do a lot of homework and they know a lot more than the average guys. But you know, unless they're in the room with you know,

the evaluators and getting their knowledge, then how do you know? And you know what, maybe they talk to some of those guys, but who tells everybody everything about the guys that they're you know, you know those teams keep that stuff close to the vest. Yeah, yeah, no question. He um, I'm sure he well he had the if the talent, talent, talent, big arm can do so much, but accuracy. It's like the kid that we're talking about from LSU Randall. Yeah, great arm,

good arm can throw a mile. Well, they don't have receivers of the mile, and he can't hit the mile. He can't hit the mile market what's the point. He can throw it to old Main but there's not a receiver standing. Yeah, well it was what he was wide open? Okay, yeah, so what's you have talent and you know you can run jump In fact, Jake talked about you know Flowers who's a great talent and need

all those things. But that's and that's what the measurables are, right, But then you have to hit the Henry kid, right, Chris Henry,

Chris Sander who knocked it out of the park. And then you get there and they went to the combine and he got everybody all excited and then he did in material right you know, I mean, come on, you know, because it takes more than just you know, running the right right, so now you know, yeah, look, I feel bad for Will Levis because he obviously was believing the things that you know, I mean, if he didn't if he if he was kind of wondering, he wouldn't have gone

to the draft. Yes, sure they would have told him they wouldn't given an invite. He'll be he'll be fine, right, he'll be going to sale. Well. And somebody said the point, say, Okay, so he's not a first round pick in the NFL, but he's gonna be a second round pick. That's still pretty good. Still pretty good. You know, there's only you know, that makes him one of the top sixty college you know, football players. Yeah, and he'll be a guy who plays

well, probably have a nice little career in the NFL. Maybe, Yeah, we'll see, maybe, Okay. Kevin Durant joins Michael's Organ Lebron James as the only other two athletes to receive lifetime contracts with Nike. So, I mean that's interesting because I feel like if he's gonna get one, then I feel like there's gonna be a lot of other athletes like Curry, Like like I'd give one to Devin Booker before I'd give one to Durant. Urrants on the downhill side of his career. But but his shoes are still like,

you know, like I'm wearing kgs. No, one's like, I'm gonna wear the Booker. Do you have one? No, I don't have. I don't have any basketball shoes. But it's like that those are the type of shoes are sort of like you know, Kobe's and like Jordan's stuff, where Kadi's is one of them. I don't put I don't put Durant in that category. Do you Steve When it comes to like a shoe or something like that, you're talking to the wrong guy. I know I'm talking

talking the wrong guy. I don't. I don't. I don't pay attention to stuff like that. You know, we came out of my wife and I came out of that movie Air and we had this conversation and she was like, I had no idea that we're a Nike family because of Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. Where she did, I just like, I just thought Nike, you know, or our friend Raymartinez about of sporting the service.

I just thought you like Nikes because they were Nikes. I said, no, you know, if Jordan and Tiger do you guys talk obviously not about that. Rather that's success to a marriage. Don't talk to your family. Adams Adam's first pair of shoes, you know, when you when you started, uh you know, yeah, around before he's still a baby, wasn't even walking yet, ye had he had a pair of Nike high tops, uh, you know with the blue swish. I can still remember that white

with the blue swish. And his uh my grandson now who's just a little over four months old, got his picture taken with his night is Nike's on. So it just it is what it is. But she had no idea how Michael Jordan, you know, I didn't I realize you're Michael Jordan fanis. I'm not a big fan. I mean a huge fan, he is, but you know, I mean he was like, you gotta get Jordan. I'm a potographer because because because babe whatever you call her, because babe,

if you don't look good, you don't play gad. She knows that. She knows that. That's why my kids always got the good the good gear. They always got the good gear. H No, I mean he's kind of right though. Good shoes. You know, you gotta have to, don't. You have to have the right shoes. I love Steve. When I played, when I played a little league and when I played well the one year I played a popcorn of football. If I got into high school, my mom wouldn't got my shoes that Kmart. Oh, I get

it. I would have been I could have been a pro baseball player if she would have gotten me like pumas, which were the big deal. Back, you better bless her heart or I got the damn five dollars kmart football. We were slow ever since I just wasn't good, you know, I just I didn't feel good about it. What about the glove, Well, you know what, I had a really good glove, but that was because my brother bought me and it brought me a Wilson and I made all stars

that glove. Okay, just the one year, the one year, twelve year old year exactly. It's it's the it's it's like any any competive person with emotion. It affects that. Okay, soccer was your sport, right, Yeah, And didn't you go out and get you You do? You absolutely do. Steve, my sons did too. I get it. I get it. Yeah, but it doesn't make any sense. It makes all the sense in the world. No, you can wear a gunny sack and little sandals chunkolas and you'd be fine. No, no, you can't wear

Chunk doesn't play soccer or golf or football. Some people in other places they have their feet. They've just played with the feet. That's why they're good. You saw and all those God, I don't want to talk to you anymore. Oh there is a god, all right? Um let me see. Oh yeah yeah. Bryce Young says that he tells the public, um, he's not entitled to anything as a top draft pick. So that's well, he better be damn good though, better be good. There's a lot

of so much hype around him. But Bryce Young, Oh yeah, God, I could see the same problems with him and Murray. Him and Kyler Murray. You probably don't, but but but what Bryce Young? Though? Bryce Young isn't the whack job that Kyler Murray. Well, once you start getting paid a lot of whack job money. No, Kyler Murray was a whack job even before he, uh, you know, got into the NFL.

I don't say any of his pre draft interviews and stuff like J to me, okay, um, yes, Justin Verlander strikes out six in his rehab start, so we're double a triple A. Let me see because we saw Tatis, we stuck to killing it at every level of minor leagues. And now he isn't done. He's been terrible. He's been He's not on my team. So this is the non Gonals and you can't blame me for his craft round. If he's sucking, he's on his own stuck. Yeah

yeah, that was that was double. So I don't know how much don't hold don't hold your breath, So yeah, I mean, I don't care

anyway. So the Lions are receiving calls on DeAndre Swift trades after drafting a running back and the first round, okay, so that I mean, okay, the Lions will be better than people think I I. Yeah, well, there's there's already some I think I saw that in the early going on the futures bet for the Super Bowl that there that they're bringing in the most money, you know, and part of it is probably because they're odds, but the people the odds that people are getting on the on the on the

Lions, they like the odds. So there's a lot of money coming in on the Lions early on. So you know, I'd love to see the Lions get better. I want them to. You know, I love watching their game on Thanksgiving Day and it's so sad sometimes because they're so bad. So the Cleveland Cavaliers president states that their head coach is not going to be fired after their exit, which I think is honestly the right move because they hadn't Dude, pretty good, d A good season? Are good year?

I like it because Luke Walton I was still on the staff. I don't want to, Oh is that? Where's that? Good for him? All right? May get him on the show. Now that the seasons over, I might be able to look. You guys lose, it was your season of failure. No one you could ask you to different ways. What did

you think about the uianness talk? You know, because I remember in two thousand and three, I think it was whatever was he lost to Oklahoma member and he was distraught whatever because he's the other guys who just freaks out when he loses. And he'd probably be like, Shack, they didn't something if we don't win, And people have attitudes that are different, and that's fine. You can feel that way if you want to, and and uh and but you know that's not how I feel. Yeah. I did a story

on exactly that with him. Talked to his mom, Susie, and she said he's always been like that. He couldn't stop playing until you want. And that's how why some of those guys, some of those thinking like that, that's why they're saying, that's why they and good at what to do because they get lose because they can't. They hate to lose. They give it everything they had. Yeah, So Draymond Green came out with quote yesterday where he said, um, it's no debate Stephan Curry. His NBA's go

over Jordan and Lebron. So that's he probably I feel like this is he's doing that because he probably pissed Curry off. Like I'm thinking, I know one knows about he's trying to do everything you can. So like because he've always get he wouldn't even be there beyond this year, right, I don't think so. I don't think so. I mean, if he's played really well, Steve Curry, I'm tired of him. Yeah, you see game, you see last game, but like he eats he eats up so much.

He's like he's like I've got fours, I got four kids, three of him are great, and I spent ten percent of my time on them at ninety percent of the time my time on this one to keep him out of jail. But like he's he's one of the reasons why they won. He's without questions, without questions, and so I feel like, if you're Steve Kerr, you know more about that than anyone else. Yeah, but he is the heart and soul emotionally, but other than that, because he

won without him in a big way, exactly. You know what, Go get a player like him, but not like him, right, Go get a player who plays like him but doesn't bring all the other crap that comes with it, Like who I don't. I don't. I feel like you have to find that guy. Go get KD again. Yeah. Um, that's kind of all the news I got, all right. Um. I've been following the Arizona Man's golf in the PAC twelve. They're not doing so

great. They're in a tie for six, but um, four teams are kind of running away from the field at as U and Oregon are at sixteen under par Washington and fourteen Colorado at twelve. Right now, Arizona is even par tied for six place, so they're in the second round. They played thirty six holes today and then eighteen tomorrow eighteen Sunday, But kind of in the middle of the pack. I think you've got to get up to number four to move on to a regional. So we'll see what they how they

do. But not going so well for Arizona again in the middle of the pack. They're one of six teams that are that are ranked going into ranked in the top fifty point into this and so they're number eight team. Yeah, well, I always go to all sports two songs. Former Sunnyside standout Roman Bravo Young was named to the Scholar a Scholar All America list by National Wrestling Coaches Association. He's got a great future, but I wonder what it what right it was. I don't want that kid to go into MMA.

Man. You you they knock your brains out literally in there. H just a lot of a lot of athletes who've left the area have done well at some of the schools of just you know, you feel like, Okay, I don't know. I mean, if if he can go make a nice living at that, I just don't, you know, fifty years old, one would be like, you know, needing a drool cup. Or something. I just want to see you know you love you love to see that kid do be successful at something that doesn't cost him his his his hell,

because he has so much to offer. He really does. And we'll have more more next week about some of the high school successes that have gone on to this point right as as the school year ends, and we'll have some of the coaches, maybe some players beginning next week. Well, they got Cardinals have a minute and forty seconds before the uh, they're going to make a selection, but I think they might actually be trading down, so we'll see how this goes. Interesting. They're trading down and trending down, that's for sure, that's no doubt about that. But you can the fact that Pittsburgh did not have to Actually Pittsburgh did not make a trade with the

first pick in this second round. The guy would assume the Cardinals business is much more brisk, considering I assume somebody might try to come up and take one of these quarterbacks and wasn't pick last night. Well, Adam Schefter is on the screen, so I don't know if if if they've decided to trade the pick. It looks like they might have, but the clock is still running. Oh they did. They traded the pick to the Titans. That's

interesting. They did with the Titans, because there's there's been rumors for like two or three weeks they were going to trade the first round pick for the Titans. So we'll see what They'll announce this at some point. Sometimes this is a while before they actually announ the trade, so we'll see how that come. Let me let me ask you, what have you been up there forever after leaving this place? But do you have any hope and maybe that's

a strong word, that this franchise will eventually get it together? Well, they actually did for a while. I mean they've had a couple of pockets of getting it together. I've been here covering this team on a weekly basis since you know, two thousand and two, and that first year I was here, they got off to a nice card and then David Boston was injured and they went nine one and nine the rest of the season, and that result, unfortunately Dave McGinnis, who was like nicest human being in the world,

being fired as a head coach. And then we had to sit through the Dennis Green era, which was just a controtal joke that Ken wizzen hunt. They had some really good years there, but you know, some lean years at the end of that and the Arian zero was good. But it's been slim pickings, with the exception of the already two seasons ago when they got off to the great start, last undefeated team. Right now, though,

I think they're horrible. In fact, you know, both the NFL Network and UH and ESPN both last night at some point of their coverage declared that the Cardinals have the worst current roster in the NFL. And I'm not familiar with the other thirty one teams, but it's hard for me to imagine that there's any roster or that's currently worse and the Cardinals right now, how did this happen? Yeah, I mean, yeah, how does that happen?

Well, okay, let's just go back twelve months roughly within the right about this time last year, they extended the contracts of Steve kim, If Kingsbury, Kyler Murray, also DJ Humphries, who may be traded after they selected a tackle last night. So there's a good start of how it just went to hell rather quickly. Well, the Titans just took Will Levis, so there you go. Yeah, that makes sense. It's good for him.

Well, loves loves, by the way, Levis went home to Connecticut last night after he didn't get picked, so he's he's not even there to night. I felt bad for that guy. Yeah, he's kind of a cocky dude, and so I didn't feel that bad. Okay U. Plus I don't know if that was his girlfriend or his wife. But you know, life's going okay for Will. So there we go, Oh, all geeks and be the good looking guys with good looking women. Yeah. Yeah,

who's gonna make some money? I forgot about that part. All right, Well, what do you what do you think of the Cardinals pick in the first round. I'm again, when you're the Cardinals, you need somebody everywhere. So what do you think about about the first of all them trading

down and then getting that guy. Well, I've been advocating, I think most people were advocating, whether it be drafts, you know, pundits, insticators, whatever we're supposed to call them, that they trade down and you know, they, as we just mentioned, they have not a good roster, so they need as many good players and they see it, they need as many picks as they can in this draft and probably next year in the

draft at least. So I was toldly for that to trade down. The best thing that I happened to the Cardinals last night is they got the number one Texans pick for next year. And while the Texans are going to be better, I mean, I don't know how much better they're going to be, So I assume that the Cardinals have a good chance to be to have two of the top ten picks in the draft next year. So that's a good thing as far as the actual selection goes. And I'm an Ohio State

fan, for better or for worse. Born in Columbus, Paris Johnson, I'm not sold that he's a left tackle in the NFL. I think that he might be a guard. E. J. Humphries is one of the three or four best players it's been on this roster for the last three or four years. And as soon as they took Paris Johnson, the DJ Humphrey's

trade speculation. I'm not gonna say rumors, but speculation started. Even though I will say that if you Monnie Austin Fort, the new general managing the Cardinals and the postgame dot the postgame they post a first round presser last night, would not commit that Johnson is going to be there. His left tackle, which is a smart thing. I mean, why would you if you

don't have to. But just as somebody who has watched every down of Ohio State football for like fifty five sixty years, I'm not convincing a left tackle. Okay, the of this team? Do you take calls at your place? Yeah? Do you? How how are the fans treating this team? I'm sure poorly? That's a good question. Um, well, I'm not positive I'm exactly dealing with the real fan base here, because I've been known to be objective or critical depending on your viewpoint, over the years. So

and also the shockingly i'm sure studying to you, Steve, certainly. Yeah, I've been known to run off some collars occasionally if they're just not going to inform me or challenge me or having creative conversation. So I don't know if I'm the right person to judge on the fan base, but I think it's clearly the clear to say that they've got some issues. Obviously all the front office stuff with Bidwell now in the last few months, the bad season

they had last year. Kyler Murray's not going to play until we have no idea when Kyler Murray's not very good when he does play, in my opinion, So I can keep going if you want. You know, you were talking about them having that the Texans the first round pick next year. If Kyler Murray doesn't have a really good year, would they even though he's got this massive contract, would they move on from him after after this year?

I think they would like to. UM, I don't know if it's financially or salary cap possible, quite frankly, and there's nobody in the in America that's worse than trying to understand the NFL salary cap than me. So I used I used to get ahold of Mike Jarecki, my former colleague at Katie US, and I asked him about salary cap things. Uh so, uh, maybe I just leave at him and maybe I shouldn't learn a little more about the cap at some point. But they'm not sure if that's possible.

I'm not one hundred percent. You remember, this is now a new GM, new head coach. They weren't here when they stayed, you know, even when last year they weren't even here when they extended Kyler Murray's contract, let alone drafted him. I wouldn't be shocked if they take a quarterback at some point, not today, but you know, tomorrow, and be surprised that they take a quarterback, in part because maybe they're not totally convinced on

Murray. The other thing is that, you know, Colton McCoy's a nice backup, and he's not healthy all the time and was injured at the end of last season. They've got a couple of their quarterbacks and the roster who are just the camp bodies or preseason third, third and fourth quarter type of guys, and that's it. So I wouldn't be shocked that they actually took a quarterback at some point the next two days, specifically tomorrow. This is

a franchise that's really screwed up that quarterback situation. Murray the previous Josh Rosen, I mean, how can how could you? How could you mess up the most important position out there constantly? Well, I got a bet. I mean I wasn't. Again, I was not exactly. Let's let's start with Murray. I wasn't completely in on the Murray thing, but as soon as they hired Kingsbury, it wasn't even worth a discussion to say that they

weren't going to draft him because they were going to draft him obviously. As far as Josh Rosen, I was in on Josh Rosen. You saw him play, Yeah, we all saw him played UCLA. And I think most people when that draft occurred, will you know, they'll go back and gues take some guts to admit this, but it seemed like he was the most NFL ready quarterback of that group, right. And I knew two weeks into training camp, and that's when I went to every training camp practice in those

days. We knew that wasn't doing one we talked, I talked about this was several of my colleagues here that covered the Cardinals and human opinion I respect, but we knew within like two weeks between that and the fact that Steve Wilkes was a pathetic head coach here and completely in over his head the first time he was a head coach. The combination of those two things is there

was no chance, and I mean no chance. They didn't even play a preseason game, and we knew that there was no chance that that was going to work out. Yeah, yeah, I tell you truth. I didn't like him in college. I didn't like his arm. I didn't like his attitude and use smart, smartest guy in the room. Whatever. I'm with my right behind you with that one. Well, I liked the I was okay, I kind of like the attitude a little bit. But yeah, a sport. Yeah, you have a lot of the office to drop the

field stuff. And you remember the hot tub in his dorm room or whatever was that kind of stuff wasn't great. I actually like this talent and he could throw the ball. Uh. He just uh didn't seem to really understand the NFL game. Yeah. Interesting, Interesting you want to go to all right, Yeah, let's move on to the Suns. Uh, you know, got past the first round. Uh, still being picked to be the representative out of the Western Conference. So what are your what's your take on

the Suns? And they've got to you know, they're playing the number one seed now in the uh in the in the Nuggets. They do This is really interesting because yeah, they they're playing they're the fourth seed, the Nuggets are the one seed, the Nuggets have the home court, yet the Suns

are favored to win the series. Uh. Yeah. For the biggest reason for that is is is that there's so much liability in almost every sports book in the world on the Suns, because there's all this money on the Suns to win the NBA Championship or the and or the Western Conference that they've got to try to figure out how to get. You take some of their losses just in case, and have some Nuggets money. So then if a week

ago, I would have actually picked the Nuggets to win this series. But the more I watched the Nuggets struggle against the Timberwolves, who I think are just a complete joke and a horribly, horribly constructive franchise. The more I watch that series, the more I then thought, all the Suns are going to be okay here. And in addition to that, I don't really care

if they're playing. I think Money Williams is doing the right thing by playing the starters for like forty minutes plus the game for the most part, because their bench is off of other than bid Back Beyond Bo, who's a tremendous rebounder and a good defender, you don't know what you're getting at any point. The rest of the bench, I mean, they're just it's usually a

disaster. Yeah, occasionally, you know, Kogi does a couple of good things, but then he does a couple of the dumbest things you've ever seen, and you know, campaigne is just if yeah, he's been out because he's came back and played a whopping three minutes to their night. He's actually he's a very good scorer as far as a backup point guard, but he is the worst passer for any backup point or any point guards, back up

or starter ever. And he's a horrible defender. So you don't know what you you don't If he's not scoring points, you got to get him off the floor. Terrence Ross I thought was a really good addition of this team, but he's another guy that's not guarding anybody, and he almost got no time in the last series after the first game or so, which I don't necessarily disagree with because he's done the guys. He's got scoring points. You

got to get him off the floor. So I don't have a big problem, but I'm playing every you know, money, playing everybody for like forty plus minutes. It might be I think more of a problem in this next series because you have the altitude in Denver, even though there's a couple of stretches in this series that the schedule is, you know, really this series is if it goes seven games, it's over a long period of time. After they played Tomorrow night and then Monday night, Game three is not until

Friday night. And then if it goes if it goes seven games, game six is on a Thursday. In Game seven is done until a Sunday. So is that I think that that the scheduling part I think benefits the Suns if they want to use their guys for a massive minutes. I think the fact that the you know, they're playing in Denver, and if they's the game seven it would be in Denver. You know, that could be an issue. But at least you got two days off in between before that last

before between game six and seven. If there is such a situation. So do we have a podcast of this interview? You have that, and you have that YouTube. Um you can get it on YouTube or

That came was Sunday ticket. Okay, if so, what they're saying now is Sunday Ticket is Sunday tickets where you get all the games, right, and when you got that,

you got red zone right all right? Now, if you buy Sunday Ticket and you want red zone, yet have to pay for red zone, Oh that's not important. And I don't know if you can get red zone stand alone, that's not enough. That's crazy. I wouldn't do that. That's not to important me. And you can't here it is. It's it's uh Sunday ticket on YouTube TV. So you've got to have YouTube TV.

H and do you have that? I don't like sons. But if you want, if you just want to see it on YouTube, okay, it right, it's gonna be four hundred and fifty dollars if you get it now, there's one hundred dollars off. And that's just Sunday ticket that I mean, that's just the games. And if you want red zone, it's an extra forty bucks. No, I don't think so. And it doesn't look like you can get just red zone. No, I'll watch it my way and no, no, no thing. You just get the crappy Cardinals games

every week. No even then you can just go watch it at the bar and you'll be fine. You know, I watch it, but I'm not into it like crazy. I picked the games and that's it. And that's because I was able to gravy train off my kids and use their use their college emails to get them to get my acca again, send their emails to uh Jay, not to me. Speaking of look at this I'm looking at I called up Sunday Ticket on my computer, just you know, to get all this pricing. And

now an advertage shows up on my on my iPad. Oh I get it. They know they know where we are and who we are. SKI. No, we don't be googling that. You better watch out, man. You better not be going to places you're not supposed to be. You don't go to the Sunday ticket or anything like that. Ah. So anyways, it's gonna cost like four hundred bucks for Sunday. It's just as much as

you're your tailgate thing, yeah, isn't it. Yeah, but it's if it's worth it, you know, four hundred bucks for how many weeks? Eighteen weeks, twenty dollars a week, it's worth it. It's worth I'm bad again. If you win maybe a week or two, your prize pool, your pay that's paid. Yeah yeah, maybe all right anyways, but

yeah, I've been a big fan of Sunday Tickets. I've been a subscriber to that since that came out, as I was a direct TV guy for a long time, and so the minute they the minute they came they came out Sunday Ticket, I was on it.
