Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. All things competitive in the world of war 40000. My name Eric with is my ko Robert. I have returned He has indeed, and we're glad to have him back after a rage of a weekend last weekend, but we got lots talk 1 our second full weekend of tournament action related to the new Ryan nexus, we'll get your thoughts as well as you got quite a few games at last week in terms of experience And we're kinda joking, you got your
deck kinda last minutes there. So you kinda have to figure out and play on the way to the first Gt. Oh, no. To be honest, I just kinda gave up on studying. It was like, nah. We're we're we're just gonna go in. But just weekend and read the cars like know, for you know, for fun as we've wiped op big deal. I mean, I didn't do too bad. No. Not at all. I really well. So interesting enough. Yeah. So first thing is, yeah, congratulations on a very strong weekend.
And, number 2, kinda showing it to people that, you know, that every codex is as bad as what the Internet tells you it is. Well, someone did a better job of me, better job than me that weekend, not the same event with Custodian. They actually won with the sisters of Silence attachment, which was hilarious. But, yes. It is a... Where playing custodian as I was playing them before the codecs with my 15 warden and my double cl uses on any table layout. Perfectly fine. They're not that different.
The The cl kind of have lost value because with the more and more G w setups that are going on, I can't create super long firing lanes. And if they are long, they're really, really tight. So I don't have a lot of things to see and shoot with my Is. Yeah. It's been... If you look at even alternate non G w layouts, like, the It, the K t and the w t boards they're even more condensed. So... Yeah.
The So I've been kinda thinking it over, and I think for the time being, I'm going to switch back to bringing up brick of terminator because playing on layout 7 sc I'm turning my word Layered 7 is, Of course, my trade stuff is. That's the, layered buildings that are perfect 90 degrees from the long table. Oh, yeah. And there's, like, some of them are like, 16 inches wide. So... Yeah. It's I sat there going. Oh, I'm gonna... I thought I was gonna like 7. I had a field day.
Well forget to down the rewards that what was in your... What was in your list? What detachment shake? Off, I took the shield host because that 1 is, honestly, it's the most efficient 1. Just don't change your game plan very much. Get hit stuff real good. You stand on points and your win. Kind of. The and it was 15 Warden, 5 custodian guard with Dr. I threw a couple people off with 9 prosecutors, because I had a I had 1 of my opponents shoot into 1 squad. Anyway, oh
I get blast. No. That's a 4 body unit. Dang it. I shouldn't tell that you know. I don't get blast. No. You. That's a 5 venue. That was funny. And then the 2 cl is a shield captain and 2 blade champions. Yeah. That's the entire list. I was whole list. Yeah. I was I was down by, like, 25 points or something. Call, 19 35. But No. Seems like a very straightforward and also convenient for travel what's except for the the tanks. So... And tell a little bit about the venue.
I went to where it was and what's going on? Well, Rage had changed venues from the last time I went. They were originally at the nuggets. What's casino, I believe in reno. Yeah, it was a little more of a condensed space. This time around, they actually ended up at the Lan resort, which has 1 of those convention hall style things where the balls are, cal so you can attach multiple haul together. Oh, neat.
And they were shoved c all the way in their own corner to make sure there was enough room for all different kinds of tabletop and board games But the venue was nice, the only complaint that I have. Is because they were in the convention center in order to get there from the hotel You need to go to a specific floor and walk across the sky bridge to go into the convention center, which was really convenient.
Or, you know, if you weren't staying at the Atlantic, you just kinda had to drive the parking lot to get there. It's Like I think is the 1 in in the Caribbean is it's like a big water resort or is it kind of a... No. It's more of a classic, Nevada kind of resort. There's, casino floor, there's actually an entire extra floor of non gambling games. So good old classic arcade machines. And then from floor 3 and up, I think it's a conference rooms and then the actual hotel rooms. Oh, okay.
And what they have for training? Obviously, it was G w layouts, but kind of train worth they're using. They had made some very quickly painted, still nicely painted Mdf style terrain. That lined up with most of the terrain layout measurements, some fairly long l's, some walls were shorter lots of... Just ruin walls, the classic G w setup where they don't like having trees.
But the train was nice and functional. It It wasn't super flashy, but everything was the same, everything was easy to understand and they made it very clear that once the gate... Once you start deployment the f with terrain, they become locked in place on wherever they at on the base. So you... So you and your opponent had to kind of make sure that the buildings actually lined up correctly before he started deploying. Otherwise, you'd get some very awkward looking buildings. Got it. Okay.
Very cool. Sorry. Let's start off with game 1. That 1 was into let's see if I can remember off. And, nope. I can't because my brain is fried. My my round 1 was in 2 I know it was fun. It was a very, very fun game. But tabletop top battles come here. My I lord savior. It was into works. Oh. So entire believe. It was actually the war. So, the the classic detachment.
And they I took fixed, they took tactical second, and it was a very When their turn was going to happen, you knew it was going to happen. Because instead of bringing some extra war bosses and extra boys, they had ga. And ga being infantry kinda threw me through a loop. Because he ko man through building. Trust. But the the big takeaway.
Was War hoard still hits really hard But it proves that if you can survive the wall and you have enough resources left, you might be able to pull the game out of the Orcs clutches. Because he had pretty... He scored 30 points on primary but I scored 35, just because of the fact that on turn on my first turn, No. I went first. On my second turn, I chart, I Nope. I forget. Anyway, I shot him off of all the objectives after he moved on to them. So on his second turn, he only scored 5.
So it was a... Oh, yes. I went. Second. So that's why I was able to shoot them off all of the objectives. And, yeah, from there, I just kinda held the middle of the table and made some pretty lucky charges to tie up some units. Then played fixed which to which objectives did you take? I took assassinate in Locusts. Locusts, I did a whopping 3 times because everything that was tied up in combat or died. And assassinate he had Ga. He had several war bosses of varying kinds.
And fun fact, Ga and mc macquarie give up double. Interesting. Okay. Because M mckay is considered a character model. And what mission role did you guys have? We were playing just good old taken and hold. No you, it manufactured chilling rain or they added something again? Oh, it was Michelin. So we were playing mission L, so it was taken hold of his supplies and search and destroy. So yeah haven't. It was a pretty high scoring game for... Pretty much everyone.
Interesting. K? So kind of sat there and it was the change Nexus because it's an should waste. Objective. And said something I ran into and I was saying... I took tactical in my games last week and things that brought up was should couple times so I think it was game 2 in game 3. Specifically in game 3 Gotta hurt me. It was, like, I kept drawing, like, high action objectives twice. You know, Like, so I was like, 0II think at 1 point, I had to do over 2 turns. I had to perform like,
12 actions. I was like, well, I don't have enough miles left to turn 5. We doing actions and not be shooting. Yeah. That's something that I will honestly admit that I've did have a problem with during the weekend was I sure I took Locusts, and I did my best to protect my prosecutors for them to do it well in the middle. But you can only protect them for so long and sure I could have gotten my deployment zone, but there was a wall of works in the way. Right. Yeah. That's always...
Always for the fun is trying... How do I get to some of these places in the map without you gotta kinda create like a pathway for the action monkeys to get through. So... Alright. Let's go move on to game 2. So browsing win game while. Big primary points. Hard. This 1 threw me with a surprise because I got paired into tier knit. And it was 33M3 heart, Cool what? So Nexus 1? No. It was invasion fleet.
Oh. Okay. And Yeah. He... I just couldn't chew through all of the big monsters fast enough because the My cl is had a very short line of sight towards them. It was a very it was a very acute angle of an x. So in order to shoot them, I had to basically leave my 2 cl is exposed, and hopefully, my... My boys could survive long enough to let the clues just pick off a monster or 2. Mh. Because melee, I have the attacks, and I have the damage to chew through stuff.
But on the crack back, I'm basically losing a unit unless I can trade up into monsters, which... I I just couldn't that game. I lost a whopping 47 to 98. Most the mission? That 1. Was mission mission deep. So scorched truths swift actions and tipping point. So Mh 1 of the newer deployments, and then the battle line get to do actions, which didn't really matter for either of us. Because I only had 1 battle unit. He had none.
But the scorched earth change was very different because now you can sc in turn 5, it didn't really matter which 2 objectives that he burned. He was always gonna cap out at 98. Like, there was nothing I could really do to stop him after each shoot through my word units. Got it. We any chance he didn't have? Battle line did you run the security mission to pick up the quick 20? Enough. It There there wasn't any reason for me to do that because I did take fixed.
I took bring it down because obviously big stump monsters. And then I had to take a throw away 1 of... Well, I have to cleanse 2 objectives. So I'll have my prosecutors do that. No. I'll have them be pillow afforded by warden. Didn't matter. The the warden died too quickly, and I had to go first. So it gave him an easier time to get to me. Interesting. Okay. Yeah. I was telling last week, with my game against the don and his death he had no battling units. So I was like, cool.
Sure enough at to end of 3. I was losing on primaries. I was like, I will pick the mission here that I have destroyed all your battle on units. So again, So in which he kinda knew what was going to anyway. So round the bat give me an extra 20 on primary. I was like, Yeah. I did get the Moral victory though. I got his 1 bio. I made all the way across the table to kill the 1 bio board. And in the process, I actually had an ex cream fail a desperate breakout test. And it just died. No
We both laughed at. I was like, yeah. No. This won't change anything. I'm not gonna win the game, but that was funny. Oh, hunting to be to loose for that. Boy. Yeah. But then he turned around and ate that last unit of warden, it wasn't anything special. But Ken, I believe finished up in the top 5 of the event with his tyra. Boy excuse me a little bit of a boost when you... When you lose to somebody and I'm like, oh, they they almost podium. Okay. Good to know.
Yeah. But that's essentially what happened in round 3 as well. Do what happened in round 3? I got paired to the guy that won the event. Man mister legend. Yeah. The guy who's currently at least eighth place in the It c rankings from what I saw. The other day, Ben and his blood angels he wasn't playing orcs, and the blood angels list was as straightforward. As custodian are, I'm going to run at you. I'm going to hit you really hard, and there's not gonna be anything left.
Because you had, like, 30 death companies or something. Yeah. That's 1 of those. I was, like, blown away. When the day late came out and Was like, no changes. Interesting. Yeah. Me and Ben got to chat a little bit after the game because the game was over so quickly that the only mistake that I found initially was the fact that me going first, I ran out into the middle to just hopefully score, primary, which I knew I wasn't going to do. Right.
And his death company came in, eighth an entire unit of Warden, Custodian guard went in, And on death, almost 8 that entire unit too. Oh, wow dead. Swing on death. Is that powerful? Okay. Well, they were also swinging with Power fist and stuff? Still, though. I couldn't remember do letting angles angels get automatic swing on death? Or is it swing up 4II believe it's automatic. Yeah. It's probably why.
Yeah. But, yeah, No, It was it was absolutely a massacre of the custodian, but he he did say that this matchup in general is a very hard 1 for custodian because it's bodies and value versus just value. So Blood angels will willingly throw a unit of 10 death company with a chaplain into something. To eat it and then lose the death company because the death company, yeah. Fight on death pick up the unit that just blew
it up. So it's like, unless you're playing tau or Rad or something with a lot of shooting, The desk company are literally going to answer every single thing in the army. Yeah. It's been unfortunate. Yeah. It's kinda like on those even if you can trade, you're going to lose on every every trade. So... Yeah. It's the it's the match up where I would need to first snip out the chaplain lens out of the unit. With precision attacks, I don't have a lot of those.
And then I'd also have to make sure that I always charged them and made it so that way they didn't have fight first. Which is this... Because I think they outnumber you in terms of units. So... Oh, yeah. They basically have the 3 units of death companies, some assault, some jump, and then some a couple of other things. They didn't outnumber me by a lot, but they just... They had twice as many bodies. Right. And I know they get plus 2 strength on a charge. They get plus 2 strength
went when charged as well. Can't remember. I believe it is on the charge and also, plus 1 wound, I think. Because, basically, my... When they would go into my word units, they would always cancel out the minus 1 that the worms have. So, yeah. They're wounding my words on threes instead of winning them on fours. Yeah. All I catch up with you. So... Yeah. And with the lack of minus 1 damage in my army. 2 damage is the same as 3 damage, basically, Sure. It takes 2 saves, but it's... Alright.
There will... There it goes 1. There goes. There goes 3. And just. I I start falling over. Great. Yeah. I could see that. Alright. So wrapped up day 1, so far. Okay. 1 and 2. Thoughts and early thoughts on nexus at this point. It's since we were playing basically layout out for... From the Leviathan packet where it has the really nice safe l's in the middle and I was still feeling okay, Nexus didn't really change anything.
So it still feels like the same as exact game plan for me, except for the fact that me taking... Guardian Spears means nothing now because I can't advance an action anymore. With exception for that 1 mission role. Yeah. So it's alright. Cool. I'll just keep doing custodian things, and I'll walk forward. I will out underscore you on primary. Just because every single time you touch this button, I'm going to kill you.
Yeah. III colleague... I know he talked about it, and I got totally caught off guard in 1 of our games last week where I was like, oh, yeah. I'm not, let me measure it. Oh, I'm 10 inches away. I'm too inches short. How does advance. Oh, wait. Assault weapons don't let me do actions anymore. Oh, no. Yeah. And playing Ben, we were doing purge the foe rapid escalation.
Crucible battle. So it was a it was a short jog for him, and we basically had no mission rule because neither of us used any kind of reserves to Good point. Yeah, on day 2, though, day 2 was the... Alright. In order for Ben to win, I have to win both my games because he got paired down to me, which threw a lot of people off. So into round 4, I got paired into... On a mate, like, a really friendly astro player. Still such thing. Well, well, when he shines up... When he
shows up with a shadow sword, yes. He's a friendly astro player. Great. Super heavy tanks. Awesome. How sponsors and thousands of tubes are inside this thing. Well, the shadow store doesn't get to carry anything. Oh, okay. You're... I think you're thinking of, like, the band or something. I don't know. But There's 1 that has, like, it I to 12 guys and it's open top. What was it at the time? So the guy's inside were shooting out of it. I was like, what is this nonsense?
So... But so day 2, we had switched over to layout number 7 in Par, which is the other 1 that I was excited to try because it's basically onion layered buildings. So you have Lots of safe approaches until you get to the middle. And then turns into a giant kill. And you've got wide buildings too because it's like the 12 or the 10 inch base next to the 6 inch base. So it's like a 16 inch wide ruins. It's it's huge. It's a really interesting layout.
Yeah. And that we were playing on tipping point again. Because we were playing mission number mission letter c. So it was Lin pin Fog and tipping point which actually came up in an instance where my I got to shoot down range at his at an en cara off, whatever the guy in the chair. And then his shadow sword, I think, No. No. It wasn't a shadow sword. It was like a unit of infantry or something. But he had to go first... He ran out 1 troop dudes into the middle. I shot it to death.
I almost killed the in. And the thing that I think swung the game forever into my momentum was the fact that I rolled in advance on my blade champion unit that was right up in the corner of tipping point and hidden from any kind of shots. I get to go 12 inches. I measure the distance to the bain blade I, like 17 inches away. So I get up there. And the Beam blade can't well not the Beam blade, but the shadow sword can't see me. So it nothing gets to overwatch me. I'm perfectly safe.
But I think I did get a little close because I think 1 of the demolish cannons or something got to fire in and picked up some mourn on the way in. But anyway, I make the charge into the shadow sword on turn 1, and I'm sitting there just hitting this thing on the side for, like, 3 turns. But it's... I have it cornered so that way, it has to... It has to go scoot straight back, away from me, which will take it out of line of sight for shooting, I'm trying to picture this how they tank can't.
So if you look at the terrain layout, right there at the top of the table So if you had north from the center objective, that big pocket that's near the attackers deployment zone. Mh. Is where he moved the the shadow sword up to. It was from this little pair of buildings that I was able to charge through and wrap the bottom left corner of the shadow sword, and it was right up against the edge of the board, so it could only go 1 direction. Okay. Now I see it.
I it didn't have the movement to go over me. Because they would end up on top of my malls. It was stuck behind a building. So it was he ended up putting unit of guards went into me, and it was kind of a long dry out combat. But because I got to hold the the tank there, I got to focus his forces into 1 place, and I just racked up primary on him for the entire game. Yeah. When I'm thinking when you were blowing away, you said earlier how you're blowing away
units as they came to the middle. This just like, yeah house going to inside if from maybe an over unit how's he gonna hold an objective at this point? Yeah. He had some rough units that actually could move pretty fast off of the get go, but he had basically deployed the shadow sword cover 1 flank and the rough riders to cover the other and I caught the rough writers and the in equator on the bottom right objective.
And from there, I was tan with tank commanders and other stuff down there, So my opponent was just kind of dealing with Jan in his deployment zone just going... Nope. Nope. Nope, you're not doing anything. Just... Yeah. That was a really solid victory of 94 to 38. Nice. Alright. Even at the record at this point going to the final game of the weekend, what mission you got, and what are the rules?
So my last 1 was actually a match up I was kind of worried about, because I cut... I got paired 2 the raiders detachment for chaos space marines. The good old Up upbeat downey work talents are murdering everything 1. See are these are these still murdering people? I don't know. Well, I thought they would murder people. Turns out it was wrong. But we were playing mission f. So we had burden of trust hidden supplies. And Hammer. It's your second hidden supply. It's interesting. Okay. Actually,
let me... Oh, know. I deleted the packet. But, yeah. There was I remember talking to the T because when I pulled out hidden supplies to set up the mission. It was... Okay. There's supposed to be 6 objectives here. Everyone was playing with 5. But the T corrected me going. No. We're not doing his pies again. We're doing this 1. Because I... It was different in the packet. So it was the it was the only custom brew mission that they did for the weekend.
Got it. Okay. So, no. There was sadly not 6 objectives for me to stand on. But it was the the guarding unit 1. This 1 was really really confusing. Is the 1 where you get, like, extra 2 points if you keep a unit omni objective or something like that? Yes. You nominate a unit to guard the objective and all that other stuff. So it wasn't it wasn't a terrible mission, because again, it's out 7, there's not a lot of firing lanes for people to set up at... And my opponent goes first.
His warp talents are starting on the table and they're hidden inside of a building. Well, in order for me to get them, I would have to advance dr and Her Custodian guard way out there, which would completely get rid of the point of her, shooting at them within indirect fire at 18 inches. So the first turn very much was a... Low scoring turn for both of us. He got secure no man's land and no prisoners. We went through my turn. I scored 0 points. I was just, nope. Gonna move up. I'm gonna
crack open that rhino now. I'm gonna do. This thing I'm gonna set up behind these walls. I'm Go ahead. Because I took a assassination, Locust again. And, yes, I did notice a whopping 3 times. I only got 6 points on it, 12 points total for the entire weekend. And the big turn was his turn too. He he charged in with both of his legion air squads that had a super murder characters. It was ridiculous. And had set up the rubric marines and stuff to do sabotage and containment. And...
So he had a lot of action ones that round. The crack, though, he lost both units of legion, along with their chaos words, And then I just got to dominate the table from there outside of his vin indicators that were chunking holes in my units, but a couple turns of harassing vin indicators with cla grab tank kinda solves that Interesting. Okay. And from there, it just kinda came down to... I'm going to tank his primary, he legitimately only scored 8 points. That's brutal. Oh my gosh.
Was it just not trying or what was he just like, it... He only scored 8 points on primary. He's still... Yeah. He scored 23 points on secondary because he was playing tactical. But because he had to go first, he had the same problem that most of more often than not I do where I walk onto the button, I can't do anything. So my opponent has the chance to walk forward and charge me and do something about it. I got to keep charging him. And just go, nope. Kill everything.
Nice. Okay. So that wraps up the weekend for you, and you're trying to about... Remember finished. And it was the top 15. Was sure. I finished in thirteenth. Thirteenth place? Which... So looking back on it, first of all, any other thoughts. Nexus and also any need changes to the list. Well, that's where I get into the phone philosophy of list building in this version of the game.
Leviathan, you had to have a nice mix of things that could shoot with the fairly long, line of sight that you have on some tables. You had to move around a lot more because the deployment zones were were felt a little bit wider so you could deploy farther. In Par, so far, it has felt like, the deployment zones are more condensed. So sure you have...
Technically more room to deploy because they're squares instead of triangles, but it's a you're not losing out on deployment zones because they're all triangles and stuff. Because you can't fit units into the little wedges. Right. Supposedly it, That's why they made the changes. But if... Interesting how all these kinda steps now. Create some interesting areas where there the distance between the 2 armies that I'm turning 1 in a lot closer than we used to?
Yeah. Like, tipping point is actually a very fun 1 to deploy on? Because being all the way up in the middle of the table can really change your game plan on what you wanna do. So if you have a a jump unit that can go through the wall to go do something in the middle, do it. Right? Super easy. But for Yeah. Tipping point is hammered and Lynch pin is the Dawn war 1. I think. I still get them mixed up. But anyway, we too. Yeah. I can't rid out of the maids.
It feels like they've really pushed it to we want fights to be close and intense So let's go ahead and let the armies get closer together. Because not all of the train layouts, allow for healthy firing lanes like layout 7. That 1 gives you an x to fire through, which has, like, a hundred and 70 degree angles towards the deployment zones and then like 3 degree angles in no man's. So it's just a really, really tight x that you can't see out of.
You mentioned a little bit were only did nexus only a few times throughout the weekend. So 1 thing Rain I talked about last week was, yeah the... Next codecs up is the redacted codecs, which if you believe what you read on the Internet is supposed to be imperial agents. And we have 25 points. Is that something you would splash in maybe some action monkeys or maybe ditch 1 of the tanks for some action monkeys? This for a few more secondary?
The the list the list change plan is actually to remove both of the tanks. Go with terminator, and have and kinda keep it this Just keep it the same where I have infantry buys that can go around places and do things if I need to. But I'm until I see other things that my army really needs. To focus on, like, having a call assassin or more prosecutors or something like that. It's to Now, we are... We walk into the middle of the table.
We just out pressure you because we're big and heavy and we hit really hard. And if we have to take fixed second, that's perfectly fine with us. Interesting. Alright. That's at least how I feel anyway. It's I'm gonna have to take another a look then back at the fixed. Second. I had the interesting where I was taking full advantage of being able to spend that command point to red draw 1 of my tactical. I think I think 1 game, I must have done
it 4 times. And just to, like, rather than just eat it and go, I'm not gonna be able to score this 1. You're like, no, I want something I can score. This is a tight game. Every point it's gonna count. And now looking back on it would have that much random and that's 4 command point I wasted on that. Do I go back and go build the list towards key second. So from My last game, my opponent actually did have the chance to cycle through multiple cards.
In 1 turn, because of unlucky draws and he did do orders and everything else. And it can help a lot there's no doubt. So if I had more... If I had like my 3 units of terminator that were in pairs, going around and doing actions, that's exactly what they would be for. Yeah. It's a hundred and 30 points. But It's 2 bases that I can just drop somewhere to do something. Yeah. I don't think that's such a bad idea. I think in the Leviathan, people have been like, oh, wow, that's waste of time.
There's so many new actions now that complete at the end of your opponents turn, the fact that I... Oh, he's gonna do those actions. It's well, wait. They're 2 terminator bodies. I don't know if I can eliminate them before the action. The complete. Yeah. And that is generally a...
It's something that I I know for scorched, I I took that because it worked out swimming where my my units could easily just be places and do things and just kind of exist, the problem with the list because I'm currently recreating it is I had a Cal assassin. The ka assassin is now a hundred points. I would need to drop 10 points somewhere to get the assassin here again. It's a lot of points, especially with social with your army because there's just not that many.
Then, like, you've eliminating big chunks of army to move points up and down. So Yeah. But the... This is an option though. Because if I were to bring a brick of terminator, I'd have to bring a character with them. So that way, they could have access to the reduced Cp costs because of a shield captain. So, yeah, It's... I I would have to be Nickel diving myself to find a penny. Right. That's the hard part. Just trying to figure know. That's really gonna be worth it or
not. So So I'm instead going to play my brick of 5 terminator, and I'm going to play a shield captain with them. Who is going to have 9 wounds? Yeah. How does that sound? A tough 7 9 wound to with a 2 up in a 4 up. Yeah. Infantry. We're just like, what? Yeah. That's a single shield captain. Yeah. Yeah. It's tougher than some and hot. But, yeah, the... It's it's kind of changed my philosophy on how I wanna play 40 k where my custodian, I wanted to literally just kill anything I could touch.
Now it's say, I only want to kill what I have to. To stand in places. That's a little bit different 20 used to do. So... Because I know in the couple games that you and I have and Eric, it's a... I walk into the middle. Your shooting comes in and it bothers me, but it doesn't normally pick up enough bodies for it to really scare me until your ink you by or little show up. Right. Case, there's another brick right behind it. Yeah. And
okay. The ink by show and and or Lilith comes in kills 2 or 3 custodian. And then I wipe the unit with the character and the other 2 custodian that are left. Because your may off tissue paper. That is true. So that's why I kind of... I was saying last week Was like, why am I? Struggling so much on second. It's never been an issue and that's exactly it is so many of these actions, they don't completed the end of my turn. They completed
the end of my opponent's turns. So, like, god, I'm not a gear or more or less, I'll stop in my not be outside my transport by joy. So it's kinda hard to score some of those. Yeah. It's a... And playing against the cast screen player, because raiders works the same way as your sky result does where they would prefer to hop out of rhino and do stuff. Mh. I I pointed out to him that the way he could've have mitigated my army was your... You... You force down 1 side with, like,
here's 1 rhino jump out charge. Here's another rhino jump out charge, and you you do it kinda 1 at a time, so that way, you're... Hammering the same side because my army was spread evenly across the table, So it would have taken me a turn or 2 to get up to meet him, No. Absolutely. That's actually the problem I had my first game is I was concentrating when, like, got there excels. Had various distractions, and I went wide. And if I just
angle by army to... I'm gonna take up this third of this quarter of the table and just wipe it out. With alt my entire army, and then it's like, okay, by the time you reposition your army to clap back I still am only facing half your army that's left. And then I could take out that half. And now I can get everywhere on the board because I have superior speed. Especially with the that cor air based red course air based chaos space. You've got movement
galore because you... Everything's got solved. So... Yeah The the raiders attachment. Yeah. Couldn't remember the name of it. But, yes, the fast gun is that everybody talks about. So, yeah, you can get to wherever everywhere you need to be and still be able to shoot. Yeah. The the thing was... The most of his shooting was specifically his 2 indicators. He didn't have a lot of other shooting in his roster besides the chain cannons and legion units, which just... Kind of evaporated.
Oh, because custodian are really good at killing legion. Well I think he goes back to what you're saying. He said he's spreading them out. Now, he has 2 or 3 liter legion generic units firing at the same unit to s. Gonna I remember engineers get, like, re rolls to wound and turns their scenarios, all of a sudden those add up pretty quick. Oh, yeah. Like, he...
He would have had so many extra things to do if he had been a little more patient because as I pointed out to all of my opponents that I won against... I won the fight fades because I got to dictate the fights. The 1... The 2 games that I lost, I didn't get to dictate the fights. And if we did, I lost them. That's a good way to describe it. It's pretty pretty stuck. Because when you think we go back to, again with, you know, the blood angel game. You either got run or you ran them
over, but on fight on death. They ran over you again. So mh. I couldn't dictate a winning fight. Right. Interesting. Mh. So it's I I do believe that some armies, not all armies will be able to pivot to have that We don't need the long range shots. We need the medium range shots. That... So that way, we can play up close and personal, And as soon as we pop out, the thing that we look at is evaporated, but now we're danger close to the enemy
army. So we have to make a big enough hit to not have it be a problem. Right. Yeah. It's yeah can get your strengths to me. This is of of of your army. You kinda look at don't have this shit to think of, you know, we mentioned tau and maybe guard. I don't know. It doesn't seem the way the ga player you played. Trying had it, but who has that kind of shooting where they can just step back and I can eliminate this bodies off an objective.
Like, the iron storm detachment for normal marines can do it. Nights. Yeah. Nights. Oh. Yeah. That was a big 1 I didn't get to run into, but nights being able to walk through buildings and stuff. Is is huge on things like tate on layout 7. Because you can just go, I don't care if my big nice battle shocked. He's going to walk. His 10 inches through this building. Rolls the dice. Oh, he's not val shock. Cool. Charges into whatever you want gone. Yeah. And then I wanted is to taken
all the new movement changes. I mean, the pivot aside, they can, you know, walk into an in engagement range don't you don't end an engagement range. The character can still actions. It's like, oh. Yeah. Titanic characters can do a lot of stuff. Yeah. It's... It is mostly the idea of... Because talking with Ben about it too. The other option is I dropped the clay and some other stuff, and I bring heinous rex. Yeah. That's a very popular option. We saw
a great night player do that. Yep green nights with keen. I played Don with Death guard and he had, I can't remember which cast night it was, but it was a big 1 with the Dow Canada then flame. So It's just like... Oh, yeah. That's such a spoiler. Yeah. Spoiler. Yeah. I know. Ray. Told me last week and I totally forgot again. But, you're seeing a lot more which III get, you know, it's kinda cool this splash 1 in. And much more very effective way of things. So... Mh. So I I will expect to see...
Lists that can do the mid range game. Better because they'll stay... They'll be able to stage safer in buildings on some of the terrain layouts. Given I haven't played all of them, obviously, I've only played out played layouts 1 and 7. So 7 is a Melee Armies dream. Just nope. You're never going to shoot me unless I want you to. And layout 1 is the nice even battlefield. So playing on the other layouts will possibly have different outcomes. In need. So
I think get some more... Yeah, get some more practice in and look at what was interesting when we looked at the big events last week, trying quantum commonality missions. There was exactly done. Balls game, we looked at 3 tournaments, 2 of them ran Brian, 11 missions, 11 different varieties. So I think everybody's still in that trial phase. And curious what see what comes up. Because so far Haven't seen really...
Big changes at lists at this point, but it just seems like the philosophy is definitely changing. And, of course, we've got W c coming up pretty soon cares to see what comes out then. Yeah. And that's generally what I've seen to. Lists don't change. You just apply them differently. Yeah that's great way saying it. So, yeah. I'm just kinda rethinking my... I mean, I made 1 tweaked trial from my last tournament, but it was something it was already...
I knew it had the change. I just didn't know what direction to going in. And now that I've made the change, I kinda go. Yeah. Okay. And... But it's... Again, like, before the show was trying, like, mess around without. Let me start from scratch. Clear and it just ended up being the same core army.
And I was like, why bother making changes at this point because it's it really has more 1 to do with how it used the units, not what's in the unit, you know, there wasn't, like, these units all that are have new life or something like that. It wasn't the case at all. So... Yeah. And that's generally where I sit with my army in general. I just need to apply my units differently instead of walking for and going hurt, you can't kill me because things will kill me. That is true.
It's fair enough guns. That's something you'll die. Or you can just have my luck and roll 2 out of 7 4 up saves. Yeah. It's there's the growth 4 up. It's either un un unlucky or your opponents It's like, oh, my god. Everyone file save. Yeah. That's kinda what happened in my work game. Mc macquarie saved. 20 out of 22 saves. Now given he has a 2 farmer... A 2 up involved, but it was still like a con man. You're gonna fail 1 of these. That's brutal.
Oh, we both got a hoo out of it because the rest of them had to go on to gas and then gas got to swing back and eat merge, like, fork custodian. Oh gosh. Oh, well. Alright. So another grip week. I got kinda spoof a little bit by, games workshop today. I'm all excited. Is said this week's previews and then saw a T wait picture. And I was like, oh, we're getting something new for your card. Yeah. We're getting a book. From Black library.
Yeah. It's... With all of the stuff going on for Of Sigma fourth edition. I'd be I wouldn't hold my breath for any drastic 40 k releases besides when a codex is coming out. Yeah. Which we still don't know what it is. I mean, it's still the redacted ones, the last 1 on the road map. Yeah. But otherwise, I'm... I'm just happy that my historians still handle the game as they did. At the start of the edition, and at the end of Ninth edition.
We just annoy people with 4 open involves I'm just like, yeah, the T6T7 and infantry is like, holy crap. So It doesn't matter for some armies, but oh boy. It matters for others. Yes. It does. Definitely does a good stat for a couple folks. So Other than that, I get to paint up my 1 shield capping. And then my paintings all caught up for spike club as of currently. Well, I was so jealous I got a lot of painting to do yet. I'd get it done with this week. I she did finally get a day off, and
I said, 3 days off finally. I got the the holiday off and then my usual 2 days, but I thought also had to get caught up on stuff around the house and all that. So hopefully, we'll sneak in some new painting. Also make get a final decision what I'm doing for a list and as we get into week 3 of our league here. So... Yeah. Don't remind me. I've only played 1 game. So off of each other. Good get that taken care of.
