We've got our third full week of what our people and now calling tenth edition or 10.5 at this point with a new
prior rules. So we've got a bev of events to talk about, and we're also seeing some interesting new factions on the podium and a quite a bit of diverse to when it comes to armies that are winning on a regular basis. So lots to talk about here. And, of course, a little bit of low in in new products to because it's it's still the hsa Mar. So, whenever if I'd to able looking at new releases for this week and there was a whopping Nec Monday box set and a book
I was like, cool. Okay. Yeah. It's is a very, very quiet weekend. So of 40 k, which I'm happy for Sig getting their stuff. The the new rats look awesome. But I very much want to see new 4 k stuff. Yeah. So, of course, Val rock there had a little video going over What what could we expect for new stuff, and I don't know. Some of it, I kinda went This feels like a recycled, rumor, some of it felt like, pure wish listing. I don't know. It was just... All over the place themselves.
No knocking on Lord commander Val rec, his article parked up on spiky bits. And you. Yeah. No. I'm not picking flat about it. It's the rumor business is very hard. And even the the the best in the business go and get a a good chunk right, and some... It's your sources are are pretty off. Not... Because they're not telling you the truth is just they're trying to extrapolate 2 or 3 pieces to to put the full picture together.
So, I mean, I remember there's was talk of a new far and it turned up to be rain. So this kinda weird stuff like that. So... But interesting enough together supposedly the... We heard this rumor of a long time ago that's supposedly an tenth edition that the being protagonist we're gonna be blood angels, and that was not the case. And now that feels like maybe that was the case and maybe got pushed back because there's still a whole bunch and new blood angels get
to come out. And given how well they're doing right now, the med of the lasting thing we need is the more players to get their hands on blood angel features. Yeah. It's something that... Hey, by the way, a random found his way out of the warp and joined us. Awesome. But yes. The adventure of blood angels in this current environment is by far the most prolific. Adventure I've ever seen because, yeah, Blood angels are just amazing.
They in the 2 games that I watched today against knights and temp, they had a hundred 43 victory on the mites, and then a pretty moderate score against the temp because it was a team practice day for us. So a 20 o and a 12 8 kind of thing. This is still pretty solid games. I mean, 12 it's a little close, but the, you know, Oh, however, you kinda feel larger your matchup ups and get ready for... This is for Champions cup. Indeed, it is, and the the showing out of everyone that went.
Was solid. So I leading the way didn't mess up match up too terribly, but Now, Don got mad at me because I put him into Jason again when his neck runs. No oh, well. He na me for, like, 10 minutes and then let it go. Love you done. I'm sure he can rebound from it. D he did. But, yeah, the the advent of team events because there was a a little rumor that I heard from a certain birdie. That an old event might be turning into a team of it. Oh, interesting.
My she be a lot of... You know, because in this weekend is the the what used to be the Atc, the American team Championship Dow, North American team championships. Sales this weekend. That's the the biggest team event here in the states, but the team events are definitely growing, and some people say more enjoyable way to play 40 k. So might be the way to grow moving forward. I'm not sure if 5 ban or 8 man teams are going to be the format moving forward because both seem to be very popular.
I mean, I enjoy it. It's the, I think the the whole planning ahead of time, whether do you bring this 5 good lists or do you skew? To certain match ups, or, you know, how does that work? You know, what's your strategy data? I think takes a lot more thought than the list building being part of it, Yeah. And that was something that we ran into today, our mix was... Yeah. I just gonna 1 unless you look not very efficient, but it it was still enough to go. Yeah. We can handle ourselves.
What else did you pick up from playing the game without giving away too many secrets of the team, but this in general about prior and what's... What's different? It firm up my belief that taking more infantry is better, and will always be better. Because you don't get stuck behind buildings like my tanks did or some of the land raiders that were at the event. That's funny. Because it I did a practice game beginning a tenth and I was so Forgot about the new rules. And I got
my greater demon stuck behind some buildings. So I was like, oh, this was a bad. I yet. But yeah, for armies, like, blood angels, gust custodian, thousand sons The only downside for thousand sons is obviously magnus can't go through walls. He's got a truckload movement. You should be able to fly over them pretty easily or around preferably. Right. Now were you guys playing with the the latest update from Tacoma?
Not that I was aware of. Okay. So apparently, it's buried in the Tacoma players packet. Is they've made a slight change to the pivot rule. Now they're saying specifically, this is strictly for the tacoma event this is not a... A ruling that will come in in a Faq later this week or anything like that. But basically, if you are on a round base, but it is, oh, 32 millimeters or less than you do still have to make a pivot move. 32 millimeters or less?
Yeah. So basically I heard they actually got rid of that too. Yeah. Explain it to me because I'm having trouble. Okay. So the way it used to work was... I all the oval bases have to make pivot, vehicles without basis, making pivot, but Ga, flyer or flying skimmer, like say a tan, which is on a I think it's on a jet bike base, do not have to spend any movement to pivot.
Now not only is it that the tantalizing and raiders still have to make that because they're on the larger bases, but even things like dread not and stuff like our a hundred millimeter basis. Oh, I'll have to make pivot. Depends on the 2 inches to pivot. Oh, okay. That makes sense now. And So if you are not L r or space marines, then you have to. Right. So the only thing I could think of is like, is basically... Is it just jet bikes and are immune to pivot rules

But, yes. The... Yeah In general, I would always recommend sure bringing large vehicles is helpful because they take up a lot of space. But still try to think of yourself as trying to move through walls as efficiently as possible. Because otherwise, you're gonna be stuck behind a building and your opponent's just gonna pin you there. Indeed, Guys using the G w Train lamps? Yes. We were playing on layout 2 today. Excellent. It's actually when of the ones we're considering

Who's in the tenants in this particular event? Well, we will we will say fifth place because it sucks to be bubble out, but you were that close. We have andy Kw with Nec coming in fifth place overall in the event. Whereas the top 4 ended up being mike Porter but blood angels, ben Jones with dark angels, Second place is Josh Roberts with chaos space marines, you finally left neck electrons behind. Or am I thinking of someone else? No.

Yeah. And a couple of commercials, of manipulative, rangers, Vanguard, some doing writers, some last can chickens, preacher, sky, so the their jump pack guys, the Tara, and then rough stalker trader. So very much a, we're going to be everywhere and you can't catch all of this. Yeah. Yeah. I have to reread the rules, apparently, put the rest doctors in there transport Go, and there's a way they can, like, take advantage of the new deployment zones where they can be in your back on
term 1. So I was like, oh well, they're they're almost as bad as the old jeans dealer double move. That's how fast there. Oh, don't tell me about that. I I haven't encountered that 42 inch charged for. That was brutal. I was like, what that heck is this? He literally tagged me. If I'm diagonally across the table. I was like, Okay. We'll take it. So I luckily left all the rest of his army behind, so I was able to pop up the first wave, but I was like, what the heck. I thought I was safe.
So, yeah. I we curious to see have 3 how that actually works. But apparently that's what the rust doctors do. And then all the new guns are just not much more effective now. So Yep. Mike... Hi. I mentioned by Porter playing blood angels Har. Transitioned from a, from Har winds to flooding and so basically, a infantry based close combat army that enormous movement rules to a infantry based mailing unit
ignore movement rules. Okay. Yeah. The The trend I am seeing so far for blood angels is you will have a minimum of 20 models that moved 12 inches. Yeah. And they all come back. And like I said, there's rumors at our new sang guard but that it's coming out. It's like, oh, great. Hey, man. I'll let him have it. We need bigger thing our. Are gonna be shot at sooner. I just realized I have an army that could blood angels I can sell. Hey. If they anybody's interest hit me up. Ray. Don't do it.

But I can see this making sense because of the misunderstanding for me of that I guess a missed a clarification that the Aura that comes off of the greater demons is specifically said to be the shadow for their demons. So they are always in their shadow. So, yes, the gray and clean 1 is really, really hard to move. Right.

I know why he would keep them at small units because when you come in from the shadow, you have to come in wholly within 6 of the greater demon. So. And blood pressure are huge. Yeah. They are huge. They they seem they've grown because I have I half my old 1, and it's a 40 millimeter base.
Yeah. So trying to fit that many blood crusher next to a blow through or star brand. Like no. No. You're right. You're right. So interesting. Because the other thought I had was kinda come up with a list where I could you have, like, a... Keep her secrets. You start dropping down all the farm equipment. That's Lan have those chariot. Mh. They are the impact that cause mortals. But now you bring up a good point. Can you wholly put that within 6 inches of the base. I don't know if you can't.
No. Now. There is no way you are fitting 1 of those trees within 6 inches of a keeper. I can really do that. So that's too bad. But, yeah, it's... This is, again, reinforcing what I firmly believe that units that can go into actions where you have dedicated bop units is gonna be how you win an event nowadays. Because, obviously, sisters is really good at it. Demons is really good at it, although, they're more fragile than sisters are. And then guard, action monkeys for days.
But 3, you not seeing any of the indirect fire anymore from guard. It seems to be all tanks. And I said a lot of transports. A lot of boxes. So... Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's because they took away the overwatch for indirect fire. Yeah. Thankfully. But this is a sign of thousand sons are probably not as... Prevalent this weekend as most people think they would have been, because thousands cents are kind of a sleeper army just because sure the cabal stuff got hit.
But they still have a lot of really strong tricks, Yeah. Absolutely. And antoinette army, like, as an opponent. Not really sure how, okay. I know he gets cabal points up to the... But I'm, like what the way I target other than magnus to to reduce deep, claw points. Because in, even with the new changes, what it used to be, they took away your armor save. Now it's like, oh, it improves the Ap, but I was, like, improves the Ap by 2 or something like that.
So... Yeah which basically takes for your arm safe anyway. Right. So I was like, oh, that's that's not nice. So... Yeah. And those are those are a few events that we are gonna be able to cover this week because there was a lot of them. Yeah. I think it kinda of 9 altogether, and it was using an of it. Okay. The presumption is that Soc cal open, is going to be turned into an 8 man team of event. Really? There is no confirming and or denying this rumor? Of course. But that's kind of a big deal because Soc cal last year was a singles event. 1 by Or, I believe. And now, It's not just gonna be what wins the event it's? Who wins the event because you're gonna have 8 peoples. I'm curious what's caught pushing them to make the change because frontline gaming did do a team events.
A few years ago, and they were very quick to point out that they almost lost their shirt on that event. Yeah. That was the las Vegas team tournament. And I think it's because of the fact that Soc cal is such a prevalent event for them. It's been a long running 1, so everyone knows where it is. And I'm pretty sure the ticket prices are going to reflect that of an 8 man teen tournament. I mean, I'm excited because to be, you know, having a large team event close by.
It's kinda nice. So I was not particularly thrilled about traveling to was a chattanooga new tennessee this weekend for Atc, but hurts a great event, but it's... Yeah. The commute is pretty rough. So I'm kinda not... That part I'm pretty excited about, but it's... We're curious to see as the team circuit kinda keep taking shape where else the other vents will show up. Mh. And I I can say from... Being a team captain for the last couple of events I've gone to for Teams.
It is actually a bunch of fun to sit there and try to theory craft pairing in a most efficient way to... Alright. I need a I need a 28 o here. I need a close game here. This game is the wild card. I don't know what's gonna happen over there. It's... It's refreshing because you're not saying they're going. Alright. This is the third time I've played to this army this event. Mh. I know exactly how I'm going to win or I know. Him I'm exactly how I'm going to lose.
Like I guess on, how you pair people in, you keep plenty of your players might run into that scenario. Hey, hey. It's not my fault that... There's a psychic kick arm. There's gray nights or thousand zones or whatever. And I decide to put temp into that because they can have a 4 up against it. Like... Yeah. True. So I forgot remember, I now I think it was W t was ruling on this that they don't allow for coaches, any, like, pairing software that you have to still do it by hand.
Oh, yeah. It is still on my end. K. So between games 1 and game 2 today. Her little sc, I had to put on my thinking cap and think real real hard about what I wanted to go where. And Although we were... Down a man, so it was already a kind of kind of a wash, But the opposing team brought 2 space brewing list. So obviously, they messed up to. Whoops. Somebody wasn't being attention to read the pocket.
Yeah. Now this was very much a a rapidly planned kind of thing, so I don't blame them for going oops. So I think Arizona sending 3 teams. Yeah. It'd be making saves, the mid table mercenaries and Club. Okay. And out of the 3 of us, Making saves had the most consistent scores out of the sc today and then the little 5 man, well, 5 or 6 man, little round Robin thing we did the other weekend. Mh. But Club has the highest... Potential for just blowing people off the table.
Because the games against making saves today were close. The games that we had against Sm the other weekend were not close at all. Is that a pairing issue or just really issue or it was definitely a pairing issue. I'm glad you identified it now. Grab time to practice. But, yeah, I think this is a perfect excuse for, like, ray, Eric. So called the team event, you're riding along with us, no ifs stands or butts, unless you actually can't go. Yeah. That's interested now.
I'm I'm intrigued. So they'll be Man, I'm not a... What time what time many years is it again for that 1? You're anywhere from, like, August to October? Yeah. Say it's like it's early falls. I remember right. Okay. Seems doable. Yep. It's just a drive over there. Yeah. Because this was originally I wanted to get to 1 of the G w events to get a gold ticket, and I don't see that when... That window just be closing pretty quick right now. So... There's an event in fall,
you can try. Yeah. Kinda a local even. Yeah. That is a good point. The the later half of the year, local event of the Spike club open has been officially granted. I believe a single golden ticket. I believe so. So... Yeah. Whoever whoever... When the event gets to go to the finals out in at Atlanta. Yep. The WCW. Yeah. Still mad they copied me. So with prying kind of health chugging along so far. I know Too haven't had a chance to practice as much as I have recently.
But are you guys thinking about kind of reform your Army a little bit to be ready for more buildings and for more places to hide? My army was already kinda built that way. So no. A matter of fact, there's a couple things that I'm kinda just doubling down. And now it's just a matter of executing. I think, kinda touched on it earlier, I may as actually look at thick secondary the first time, a long time.
And just for familiarity or just to free of some, hard drive space in the brain the concentrate on the game state. So. Yeah. I got about 1 or 2 list I'm going over, giving a good shot on and seeing how it works. And then going from there. Yeah. I've got 4 games in, oh with Brian Nexus with the same list. The the only thing I'll change. I think I whopping... I swapped 1 thing out, and I've forgot It took out, but freed up, I end up putting in a few Kronos as...
Because 1 of the things I'm noticing is a lot more missions that are scoring at the end of my opponent's turn, So I'm just trying to get a little more durability into the list for those type of actions. Yeah. That's something that I can absolutely attest to with my custodian doing any kind of action based secondary. I need to either be hiding or have killed everything in that corner of the table. K in order to do anything without getting attacked. Yeah. I'm not real good. At standing on
objectives and lasting my points turn. It's so I'm just gonna get picked up. So kind of in the same boat, either I'm gonna wipe them out. So if they're attacking my action monkey. It's a bad choice or got an actual extra monkey that I can actually take a hit. So... Yeah. The, I think the Best ones for your Army, Eric are, like, containment because you can just zoom along the side of the table. Mh. And given you throw away a unit of man,
Engage in all fronts. Like, I know containment isn't a fixed objective. Try to grab containment fixed, though. It. No. No. It's not. It's 1 of the few that is not. You would have to go with the classic of engagement all fronts and by hand behind Enemy lines. Yeah. I'm trying to think the established locust, I think it's a fixed 1. I was looking at that 1. Yeah. That's the replacement for deployed tele homer.
Yeah. Because that way, I can take advantage of, strategic reserves is coming in close to the sidelines and then being in range. So... And I kind of imagine for you Ray, you have the same problem I do where... You're kinda stuck with your average movement. So you don't get to venture out very far. And the thunderstorms says, hi. Yeah. You and I both run more elite solid list just because points. Yeah. That is a natural downside. I'm I'm honestly thinking about taking out my cl.
Yeah. He talked about that earlier the they, you know, just getting them to move on the table was a bit of a struggle. Yeah. I got it. To gotta go anywhere. So I'm might as well bring 10 extra custodian guard so navigate the board elsewhere. I could see it. You, it's funny it's value taking tanks out. I was debating whether keep same amount of dark lance in or just double down on haywire because I don't know. I felt the dark lance are they're they're good when they hit, but
then when they they they fail. Oh my god. It's just a a colossal with. So I will admit your dark clients is still scare the but jesus out of me, because anything 2 or higher is a erased custodian. So Yeah. I'm killing 1 good. But, yeah. Yeah. And I think I'm just little... Overthinking my last matchup, Against to t ralph is like, oh, there's a lot of bowls around here and a
lot of film pain. Okay. And I want ask you guys how annoying is it that the average Ap of a weapon is now 2 and the average damage is too. How annoying is that? It's not surprising really. Whether they're surprising or not, how it annoying is it. Look considering all my models are pretty much 1 wound and have creepy paper for for armor. I'm like, whatever, You know, you guys paid extra points for a weapon that's as effective of me as a spit football. So I'm good.
Then I'm just being a salty old gru. Yeah. And for me, I'm like, most of my guns are AP0. So it's just like, okay. I just... Do I have to keep looking at volume of fire or that's 1 of the reason why I've been making some changes to give them buff for for the attacking, you know, it's anti Country 3 is great, especially in my matchup against a Europe because it's T6T7I just don't care. I'm willing on threes. So... Mh. But, yeah. Let's let's still get your to a farmer.
I I do definitely, like, brian, though. It's... It doesn't feel dull like, how the Leviathan was stirring to feel because the Leviathan was... Yeah. We're gonna do the same exact thing over and over and over again and the G w are, kind of take come. Now and Par p the train layouts and the deployments allow for some slightly more creative adventures for deployment and such.
Yeah. It's a little more flexible. I think the hard part it's gonna use the changes because then we kinda built everything around the built old payout out. So... But overall, I think... The 1 I haven't tried yet is thing it's layout 8 where they got 4 of the small, 6 by 4 and ruins in the middle. Mh. That I have a feeling could be a very definitely a game changer in terms of what how your army plays. Yeah. I'll have to take a look at that 1 myself because if it's...
If it is the legitimate thunder dome, I'm all for it. Yeah. Got a fair. Oh, come on. You don't wanna come party with the custodian in the middle of the table? on that army. So... Well, to be fair, they of all the armies in Asia Sigma, the storm cuts terminals had the strangest portions. And what we're seeing is them bringing those proportions in line, I never looked up back closely. So the original storm has journals, essentially had, like, the build of a terminator. There was a while. People were actually using storm cast models to build assault terminator.
Well, the newer ones, not just the ones that are coming out or came out this weekend, but also some of the ones that have come out in the past this past edition. Were actually built to the more proportion. So more like a regular human being, So that's what we're saying. And some nice little improvements like, there was a unit where they were... Above that they didn't have the, you know, the little stands the the flight stands.
