Welcome back to down the episode of the Podcast. All things competitive in the world of War hammer 40000. My name is Eric with Rebecca Host Ray. Hello? Rob is at a tournament to weekend begin it. He is still traveling back. So you got the 2 of us this night, and desiree ray equally an eloquently said, We are the age of uncertainty at this point both in terms of previews and as well as what the meta will shape up to be. So we try to break it down based on the trends
that happened over this weekend. Tournament action, keep you guys informed of what to expect. So first and foremost, If you're not a Sigma fan, there's not much to read on the work on pages of these days. Nope. It's. Agent. I think, with the last 3 weeks, there been more kill team articles than 40 k. Yeah. I think there was something about some sort of an update for Kill team there. Yeah. They got their balanced data late and, I guess they're gonna be starting a new
season as well. I don't Think it's related to pair p nexus but it's gonna be something different. But yeah, not much at all. Which also leads us to believe with, if you look at the map, the only codecs has not been revealed is the infamous redacted codecs. So, thoughts would it could be any changes at this front? I I'm not even bothering trying to guess at this point. Yeah. I still think your original theory is the best in that it's a codex?
It's probably staring in this in the face and the reason why they red redacted it is the new model that's included is on the cover. I still think. That's my favorite. Most rumor pun are saying it's in imperial agents that which is drives me nuts so. Ridiculous that the imperial gets a, an entire codecs related to these are things you can flash your units into your army for free. We like, we'd love to get some sort of mercenaries, or k like that for chaos or zeno
powers. But anyway... I regret. So, but what's interesting what a lot of people are talking about is death launch didn't get a codex. Well death watch get folded into the pro Agents codecs, instead of getting its own codecs. You know? I I've heard talk about that, but I don't to any of its business... Subs. I myself.
I don't see that being the case because then subs Once again, you've got people having to log around 2 codex, to play a action, I I see it being something more along lines of a supplement. It'll be a thin book. Mh. I will admit I don't know how thin a purely agent to the Imperium codecs would look like.
At the same time, I and imperial agents are of, like, the 1 thing I don't see becoming a codex just saying as an index because like, let's be honest, they're the str or still don't fit anywhere really. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I I feel it they. I get the lore wise why they fit. And I they've been in the gain point. I think it's it was a quiz. I think her name is the tilt the sw the when looking 1. Yeah.
In they're cool characters. I'd love to the eyes in the horn back in the game when they just it's server purpose. And but do... Yeah, your own codecs that's... Stretching in a bit. I think there's what 4 quiz models and 4 thousands, and that's about it. And then there's all the kill team units that are playable in the game. Oh, okay. Look the imperial navy and stuff like that. Yeah. The imperial Navy, the... I freaked... I forget that they're called, but they look like the judge drugs. Oh, the
diabetes. No I think there that it. Yeah. Yeah. Except they're not called Ar. There is, like 3 different names depending on how you decide to kit them out. Mh. Which... Anybody who's looking for those? They're all in 1 box. I forget which 1 they're under That's why you can't find them. For some reason I thought, I I always get those guys mixed up with the new basically police force and Ne bundle. Those guys are really cool. I like them. But... Forgot what they're called, but
hollow, I think it is. Don't like that. No. So, yeah. Not a whole lot new on horizon. It's funny the other day I trying to figure out why our... Why is didn't watch so bad? Because not only is it at the lowest of the low in terms of wind percent. So a few people are playing it, most that aggregates are don't even wanna count it. I mean, something the defective, like, 3 people a weekend to play this army.
And the quick thing I found was, let me read its army rules, and I don't get, like, reading and reading and reading and reading and I'm going like. Are these rules are Faq, and it... They don't even have really an army role other than explain how to operate their kill teams. They don't get anything special. I was like, oh, it's just a detachment. That's weird.
Yeah. I... I honestly think that death watch is probably a little bit more better used in narrative than in a tournament scene, and I'm not going to tell anybody not to play in the tournament, but kinda like when you're trying to... You know, your... When your pet unit is currently, like, the worst performing unit of the game. It's like, yeah, You do you, but recognize what's going on. Yeah. I don't know. I'm trying to figure out. I think that's what's probably holding them back because
strategies are good. Done great. I think the biggest round with strata is that they only affect, like, 1 unit. But now I'm trying to kinda rephrase it in my head. With the new data slate, Are their characters allow them to use it twice? I don't think... I don't think you're allowed to use Strat twice anymore they rid of everything. Right? It just costs at a reduced Vp or something like that? Good. Gen not generally speaking nowadays unless it specifically says so.
You cannot use a a strata more than once. That's what 5 phase. Yeah. Yeah. It's definitely not spelled out because I'm thinking 3 of their strata or the old, special ammo. So you have to spend the command point to fire hell found hell fire rounds or your Go round. And stuff like that. And for 1 unit, it's gonna meh. If you have 3 units, I think that'd be kinda cool But for 1, it's just like it's just not enough oo to to make it worth it. So...
Yeah. No that that's that really is the kind of thing I feel like oh, if you're gonna make it a strata. Make it a strata that's arm... That works army wide at once. So Right. It's not just... Oh, this unit's is gonna use it. It's... I've just ordered my entire Arm to you use their special this round. Yeah. And then dedicated models. I mean, there's the the fighter transport. Flyer thing. They have Blacks stones, the Blacks star. I forgot what's it's called Cor. I'm
remember call. Black star. Yeah. Francis. We just said because I think that's probably 1 of the coolest imperial planes in the game. Oh, absolutely. And then there's a, I think the watch faster, the 1 character and but beyond that, I don't know there's... I think. Yeah. Everything else is generic. Yeah. So I just don't know. So this kind of bizarre. So Yeah. In the end, we'll find out. Yep. Anyway. So, yeah, Looking forward to seeing what that
would be. Also looking forward to you know, hopefully extending the road map, Please get an idea else coming up down the rest of the year. 1 thing's for sure we're probably not gonna see much for the next few weeks. The next major or super major tournament, would be Nova, which is Labor Day weekend or first speaking September for those of our, listeners outside the United States. And so we've got about 6, 7 weeks before we're looking at any previews.
Yeah. Although thinking of it just now, originally weren't they saying that the currently redacted codecs was gonna come out summer. Correct. So that should be the next codex. So if I've worked out how they work, how they they decide the seasons, it might actually be more accurate refer to them as quarters. Mh. In which case, we should be seeing 1 way or another, the codex in question come out by the end of September. Wow, yeah. That's kinda late. But... Yeah. It makes sense.
Yeah. At the same time it means we might see them... Preview that before their next preview. Which is likely to be Nova. Good point. Could be. I don't anxious to see it, see whatever it is. Just kinda see what the rest of the map looks like. And what's what's to come? So interestingly as we looking over the tournaments for this weekend and, which ones were playing? Par, which ones were still on Leviathan. Kind of a mixed bag still this weekend as the deck was just coming out. You did get
your copy of the deck. Correct? Yes. It did. Yeah. So so did I I know Robert got his, like, literally last minute it. Like the deep, like, He got it. And then, like, in the mail and then, like, the next morning he was driving to the tournament. So he was like, reading it, like, like, basically, I think he was reading it as he was playing. Yeah. It's quite likely. So very interesting there. I have you gotten the games in with the newt tech yet? Nope.
Yeah. I got, 3 in yesterday. I was at a small R g. Okay. Went in with 0 expectations Is strictly let's see what it works. What doesn't work, and try to get some understanding. I even took my old list. Mean I think 1 tweak to it. Just rather than trying to overthink the beta and just eliminate the variables that I know how it works what doesn't work. And It was interesting. Although every little mission has only a small tweak, it adds up pretty quick to all the changes.
And I found myself for the first time struggling to score secondary. I was kinda surprised by that. Okay. So real quick, were you at the tournament that was at io o? Yes. Yeah. I wish I could've have made that, but I couldn't get out work. Technically, I had to work that morning, so I raced in, got everything done. And in race over I. I was a little... I the T paired me with somebody else who was late, so we ended up playing through lunch. So if could get our first game in.
So... That was... Yeah. That was pretty crazy. So, yeah, It's been a fun week you at work. I've now worked 8 days a row. Yeah. Basically, I'm not gonna get a day off until Thursday. So and this is Sunday night. So it's gonna be a little rough. Thanks. So what's I I know we're definitely going to be talking about a tournaments. Mh. I wanna hear about how your gains went. Oh, you do.
Okay. And they're... So game 1 was a little disappointing because I think Was still flustered for being late, and just... I made a the same mistake I always make, when I lose and spoiler alert. And that is with Luca car, you have a lot of speed. But ironically, you don't wanna go wide. You don't want to spread the board and I'm gonna cover 3 to 4 objectives at once. You want to pinpoint your army at 1 small spot on this the field.
That way, you have enough firepower to eliminate your enemy off that objective, and you deny him primary. And then as the game progresses, you can get to everywhere on the board and he can't re or he she can't reinforce, which you've destroyed because it takes them too long to get to that side of the table. So this a dome mistake and But that said, End up losing... By a pretty big large. I think it was a hundred just 40. Yeah. I was 60 point in margin.
But reading through the cards a little bit, was interesting having the... Many of the cards had the automatic recycle. You know, if this is done available to you draw another card. I was like, it's helpful. Very helpful. I think I drew. What's the 1 you have to kill a unit of 25 wounds. 7. All the horde. Something like that. A drew every. Never once that I have a opponent that met the criteria and twice my opponent, jewelry against means. Thing that can automatically recycle that.
So that was kinda cool. Having the ability to I you know, what I'm gonna spend a Cp every... I think in to my games, I spent the Cp 3 times at least, where at might, I don't like these cards. I'm gonna discard 1 at this start of the turn rather that and see if I can get something I can score more effectively, which I thought was interesting so you could cycle through the deck faster. Which was before it once per game, and
you were like, nah. Just need it and buy yourself a new Cp at the end the turn, Likewise, I saw my opponents really struggling to score secondary, which was interesting. All my names. The scores were fairly low. It's for that first game were, got Collaborative. But... But did you see that first game.
Hey April. Can't think. Okay. So... Yeah, we're talking... I something that's a little bit harder free for, I would say Dr to really do well against with the exception of when you have if you've got like, enough haywire, basically. Even that, because all he does is go, forgot how many havoc launcher he had his army so he had that much indirect fire. He just rain fire on the... Everything that had. It was a threat to
him, which usually my scourge. So I took a bad remember that no matter what he can't hit on any better than 4 now. Right? Oh, yeah. No. Yeah I didn't. And then I he even had cover too and he wiped I think he wiped at all the scourge by before turned 3. Yeah. It was just like, what how was this? So... But that's... Here and there. I mean, that was 1 of those things where I'm, like, you know,
like I said, spread out too far. He was able to pick off the pieces pretty easy So that game was kind of, not as educational as it could have been, but 1 thing that was interesting. Was I did take a I took a figure mission in all 3 games. And then this 1, I had my, warlord inter iterator, and I'm like, okay. I can do this. And sure enough, he left his, home objective exposed. And turn 5. I had a chance to get him onto to the
objective worker. I was, like, I got I think trevor remember what happened. Think you may have overwatch him and killed them that way or something like that as well, the famous Arc icon feels this shadow field. Save on the first thigh, you know, type thing. But, not complaining about Dice. It was a pretty risky play, but I'm like, wow. Okay. I almost got 20 primary despite that 1 they'll play. Interesting. Alright. So All, no. Was it was a fun game.
I... Yeah Like, 02:20... Made 2 many mistakes to really get a fair sense of what was going on in the deck. Game 2 was against tyra, and this was the s nexus detachment. So this has the newly upgraded tier in the fact that they had... He had 3 and then 2 large units of zone throws led by the new bug that brain bug that came with the leviathan box that. And there's a new rule that the he pretty much gives them the monstrous creature, keyword. So heat... They can shoot into combat and
shoot that. Out of comment, like, a vehicle, like, a monster. Yeah. It's... It was like, what? Our crap? And so they have all those, psychic powers and, you know, to light you up with. And this game was incredibly close. I kept denying him secondary. He kept 90 secondary. And like I saying that with primary, Nobody 1 to venture out because it's 1 of those first person that touched the objective dies, And but it came down to is, again, I I didn't go as wide. But
still needed to go more narrow. I put micro tests and because he was screening me with Harm and ga wells. And I didn't have enough firepower on the cargo side of the table, so I pushed towards the middle I had the middle objective and his cargo as Term, eat l fire guns, which was nice. And, that opened up a charge lane. So I'll see able to... Charge the the zone throat unit with both the g tests and the witches with Lilith, And apparently, oh, no. I also charged a wounded train as well.
In between a few strata that he had, like you could give them feel a 5 foot feel no pain and the, busy are our content. And somehow, I did not kill all the zone trips, jeez I think I killed half of them. That was just, like, okay. That was odd. And so I'm... Why I'm kicking myself is there well... Is 1 of those things where I'm trying to line up the charges and positioning wise I kinda blocked out a unit of in incubator. You know, it coulda gotten in there,
but that been the difference? Maybe. I don't know. You know, probably. So... But again, when when these happens at the end, I forgot what secondary Went for this time, trying to remember. Then you choose right away when that time... When that turn comes up where you can, you don't just like... Correct. And the nice thing is you're still scoring primary while your get this. And trying remember what it was. I know he had a lot of battle line, so I didn't go after battle line. I didn't go after.
I think it was command insertion again. Well, whatever it was, I can't remember what the top of my I. I apologize. I got it. So and that's scared at the living daylight out of them. Because he was, like, because he's sitting in their life looking at this, you know, at the scoring out. Thinking, like, oh, I got this. I'm winning by 35 or something like that. And, yeah, I closed the gap. You know, all of a sudden, Oh, I'm getting 20 points for this. What? So End losing by about... Yeah. 15 or
so. I don't know the exact scores. Tyler if for listening. Apologize at them. I can't put down the recording device and look at the score at the same time without messing up the recording tonight. So... But, couple key things I learned in that 1 was, yeah. Back it became a lot harder to... You you have to... The old adage was with my army or my style of army was back keep it, you know, don't loot. You don't have to win primary. Just don't lose primary and then win on secondary.
You know, I just... As long as I can get fives and tens consistently and make sure my opponent doesn't get a big turn. I should be able to win the game on secondary. I don't think you can do that by Dow and pry nexus. Because the... Not only are they primary with the... Not the second are harder to do. They're just worth fewer points on a as a whole, and there aren't also those big ones. Like, was it... What's the 1 where you have to capture the home objective?
Capture... Is it capture because there's defense strongholds and there's the opposite where you have to go after your opponent. Capture enemy outpost. Outpost. That was worth points. And be honest for Jak giuseppe that is, like, a given. I mean, booth transport, deploy fin strategy them so they can charge out of the transport after movement in, and then use, rate like retreat and this with witches and didn't jump on the objective. Oh, I've got eat witches. That's 60 no c
Yeah. It's director's mind. Thank you. So it was interesting going back and forth, but yeah, he kinda set up this wall in this kinda stayed and weekly play the... Whatever the checker board deployment is. I forgot what it's called. You know, the tail... Old cleanse. I forget forgot they got it something else. Because And thought he was able to wall himself up pretty good with the strings of rib lee's, and then the big guys is firing away. And He gotta extend battle line, I think with
the this... The error... With the spore mines now. You know, they still count for positioning. Objectives, but there was a lot of stuff. But it was interesting things that were always a given in the Leviathan days were actually hard to achieve. I was like, this is weird. Which then leads to be to by third game. Good old Don, former coast on the t show here with Death. And of course, Don playing a don list. So very off beta. He has no battle line in the unit in the army, and mostly tanks.
Yeah. Don says, 0GW wants me to play this way. That's how I'm not gonna plug. Play. Direct. And those of... We were playing... Come on air. Wait. It's the name of that mission. It's the 1 where the turn or 1 of the objective disappears in turn 5, the second objective disappears. 00I tried to disturb my tongue. Yeah. I can't think of it either. But the key thing with this mission which turned the game around was emissions are worth more as you go later out.
Like, turns 2 and 3, each primary holds only worth, like, 4 points then 8 points and 15. And the long story short was, again, lots of indirect fire. Also, Dawn put on a clinic on how to use rapid ingress. I learned a lot from that game. I was like, that is very interesting. How to use them. So he does not care. He has you'll put units in your face, and just I think because their death guard, you have to the resort stuff to deal with
them. So that was problem 1, a problem 2, The mission rule with this 1 is the 1 where you can put up the 500 points in reserve above and beyond what's in reserve, then the limit. So Don put his chaos night in reserve. Real quick. Supply drop. Supply drop. Thank you. I can't remember which kinda cast sign. It's the 1 with the... It's got a gall gun. It's got flame. It's got it's the usual 1 the gets brought with Yeah. As as an ally. It's... I think it's called it a spoiler now.
I think basically just request to starting people run a lot of times to double ga link. Sometimes the... They'll use to double grab try battle Cannon now, but that's still kind of a ra. Yeah. So was that 1. So that thing was in reserve. And he you've rapid rest that, in into my deployment zone as I was venturing forward. I was like, crap. Know those things can be deadly. Yeah. Well, yeah. They pick up marines. Like, no nobody's business and... Yeah. I wasn't...
And So that was a key moment in the game. It's learning how rapid... Someone was really good at rapid ingress and really make it hurt. So I took a couple of notes from that. Specifically to Ne nexus, though, I mean, like I said, putting 500 points and reserve like that was interesting. I never thought. Okay. What am I putting in there? And I just looked at my deployment? And I was like, this unit is kind of out in the... In the open? I think I'll just throw
it in there. Not really having a plan where it's going to reenter play, and I think that was the big difference. As the game progressed, I was able to keep him off objectives because I had swift units with Higher Oc c. And as he pushed forward, he was... Like, his... He said, his firepower stays back. You know, he really doesn't have anything to push forward. He kinda has to rumble whose tanks onto the objectives and sometimes they don't always get there. His spawn were kind of a nuisance as
what the biggest nuisance was his flipping. He dropped in bunch of terminator in my back lines. So that forced by to have to go backwards. Was supposed to and micro tests or backwards supposed to moving forward. But specifically the nexus, 1 of the things was annoying was turn 3 and turn 4. As I'm drawing cars, were they hard to do individually? No. And, you know, oh, it's this 1. It's it's the new deploy homer. It's the new, you, all pretty simple, be there's the problem.
When you buy... Get them in pairs, Between 3 and 4, if you look at my second, I had to complete, like, 12 actions. The backs out points. I mean, it was just whoa, how I... You know, it was 1 of those if I do all these actions I'm just... And that's exactly how I... That's actually how I lost the game. I took a chance, and I had my big blob of C wars with court the Arc on and the Arc on and a spot. I was like, they have to do the action. I gotta get points. This game's is too close.
And Don just picked them up. Even with all the defensive buffs I've got on that arm that unit, and Was like, okay. That was mistake. So consequently losing no into a... I completed the action, but then I... He was able to rumble onto to that objective, on, turn 5. And he scores a big 15, which was enough because even with, my secret mission because of kilo of kill all the battle units. Oh, look, they're never wearing any battle units. I get a free 20 points. I still end up losing my 10.
I think it was that. Donny off the correct me if it was by 10 or not, but it was close. So... But that let yeah. I just kept him the kept him off a primary on turned 5, could've have won the game. I just like, no. But even that was a very low game. I kept checking score. I was like, did I score this right? You know, I guys having have some trouble with my app. On 1 phone, it updated the app to provide indexes x's. The other 1 only updated the narrative brian nexus it didn't update the
competitive. If I look get the missions And like, what hell is this? Yeah. I about that myself or I don't like partial downloaded at first and write it up having, like, redo download it and, like, uninstall, redo download it and restart my phone and it's like, oh, hey. Look. Now. Everything's right. Now everything's right. So... Yeah. So I... By no means am Any expert on this, could I played better. Yeah. There's a lot of things I need to work on. The everyone away asked. What are you gonna
change in your list. I'm not gonna change anything. I need to learn how to play the missions. And and maybe learn the the game before I can formally look at this needs to change in my list. But Yeah. The number of that, you definitely have... I found myself as well as my opponents, sacrificing, some hammer units, or what used to be kind of that middle ground units to do actions to get points. Times, I was like, charge that unit or do the action.
Alright. Maybe the venom will do the action and these guys will the, you know, doesn't bark and kill something. Oh, okay. Will that work. And then, all the other big... That was the other big change. Oh, I got totally that was a big hurt in my game against Don because you know, Don and I I there was a time where Don and I played twice a week. So, hey. It's good to see you him I haven't seen you while. I took it, you know, wasn't as a point. As That should've have been.
In Leviathan, it was always like, I need to be where. No problem. Advanced. Every gun in the T book has thought. So it just advance almost a return. Well, in Par, you cannot advance and complete an action. Yeah. That that was like a, like, an old cartoons. When you hear the screeching tires of a of a car stop. A lot of people who had all this, you know, assault prepared. All, sudden like, Well, now it's not really what I'm gonna
do with it. Right. So turn 2 in that game, because I was little nonchalant salon whereas the in my second game with the 3 player, I was pretty meticulous in pre measuring So I knew where I was gonna be for turn opening movements. I just kinda like, I was close because we were playing the same terrain layout on every table and every round. That's close enough. Wasn't close enough. I was exactly 2 inches away from everything. Oh, no. 2, yeah. I was 10 inches away and
Only had 8 inches of movement. I was like, oh, no. Oh, no. This should be a simple... This could easily... It was like, that was like a 6 point turn. I just pissed away. I was like, oh, that was bad. So So, yeah, that was a interesting twist there. I was like, that's that's not look. So any other prior... Oh, the I made the Arc icon that runs around with the in q by my Warlord, and that was so much fun that he's... Okay. We're gonna over 1 you. That's gonna be 2 Cp now. What,
I'm gonna heroic intervene. You got 2 cp... It's only with Cp now. It's gonna be 2, because I'm you're in my r of, s. Oh, that's right. Oh, I can't interrupt. Okay. So it was a lot... That part was really cool. It didn't last long. You usually died pretty quick. But he made those that his impact on the game pretty quick. So sound nice. Cool. Well, I'm glad you got some games
in. Yeah. Me too. Now I definitely learned a lot from those games and kinda really hun down and being, like, you gotta play the win. And then train wise with layout number 1, there's the big in each corner. So if you're looking at the diagram, the bottom left corner and the top right corner, you of 2 of the 12 by 6 ruins that only touch up the corners, and they have the outlines of where the walls should be. And I did got confirmation through the Ti
page. They are... Those are meant to be, you should be able to walk between those 2 ruins with a vehicle supply assuming that the base fits between the walls. The it... That's still incredibly restrictive. To a lot of models in the game. Oh, yeah. So that was a that came up in every game. I play. Wasn't a problem for me, but my everyone on my opponents it's Scott. Stalker. Somehow. Well, here's a question. If, if they upped the Dr base size like they did with D, would it be a problem then?
No. The kinda, I'm assuming I'm gonna jump up to 28 because I think that's or 28 and half, whatever it is. Because that's what the what they call guardians and the in the pirates, or, of course theirs are on those as well. As a matter of fact, I actually was going through my pile of shame, and I found 2 un built boxes of cab wires. And I'm assuming those are not going to change that those will still didn't exactly are no recast of those.
So I'm going to build those and purposely not base them until after the codex comes out. Now the witch is that could be a difference because I have a feeling there's a chance. We may get new which models because several of those models still use the old sla base. Mh which G is trying to get away from. So the are those screws I'd have to look at them, they came up before I started park podcast. So we're saying fourth edition. Fifth edition is that when the redesign was? I don't know.
I know they're lot... I know their 1 of their older codecs was fifth edition. I'd be warned, but that those things was around 50 edition. Yeah. That's what it was Was the fifth edition redo when just good ones was like, what the hell did you clowns do and just redesign the whole line. So... And then the reverse and all the vehicles are on circular basis, you know, flying basis. Yeah. Oh, yeah. The pivot rules. How hilarious that was pretty fun to watch.
Yeah. Someone who's played nights all addition. I saw the pivot role. I'm like, yay. Well, that... The still be all Ko man walls that was pretty cool. Yeah. That went through my head the moment I read that. Yeah. I... I sent to the a gif of that to, like, a half a dozen peep. And That came up a lot in our first game. He just he, 2 big nights and the rest were board dogs. I yeah.
Can't I can't remember what was what, but I was frustrating because I it's, like, yeah, like, 5 nights over were less than 4 wounds each but I just couldn't kill them like this fast And they don't even have the feeling no pain. Yeah. But again knows was because Didn't go over and wide. You don't matter than focusing, you know, 1 or 2 down and had 4 or 5 that were hurt. Well, guess what. Who cares. Yeah. Well, it's also chaos. Nights think it's...
Yeah anywhere from there depending on which ones the large knights were you had anywhere from 6 to 8 war dogs on top of those 2 big ones you gotta with. That's right. Oh, that's 1 more thing I forgot about both in game 1 in game 2. So game 1, the Cast nights have an ability where if they battle shock something, they inflict more wounds. Something to that effect. It's part of their dread. Yeah. They're... What other their dread thing? Oh, that was brutal. That was just wow.
It's picking up all my 1 win models. I was like, oh, that was ugly. And then, 1 the other key deciding points in my game too what the tier is was the... Because they upgraded the affects the synapse, I believe it is that causes a whole bunch of more minus 1. So getting... Turn 3, he pops the board wide, everything takes a battle shock. And sure enough, I was holding 3 objectives. And 2 the units holding objectives failed their battle shot. Oh. Yeah. And, of course, the asked me
why into Cp. I was like, I got leadership sex. It should've have been that harsh. Yeah. It's you know, I have to laugh the the change they they've done for leadership. It seem... Sometimes it seems like it's impossible to fail. And other times, it's like, Oh, come on. I had, you know, a huge chance of not failing and I did. I think it's getting what I like about the newer system is this seems to be...
Yeah. It's... I shouldn't fail this. But then, like, but I'm gonna fail it if I roll enough dice. And that's what's happening is. And you probably will pass it. But now you gotta test like, 3 4 times. But yeah, lots of learning experiences, certain Oh, by the way, Mark for death is the stupid of mission, secondary that thing is terrible. And that's is trash. I hate that damn there. Your opponent picks 3 units if you kill any of them, you get, like, 5 points. I think might be 4.
So they purposely, like, oh, where are you? Okay. We're gonna make the hardest the 3 hardest units to to be killed. I'm, like, okay. Forget it. That's that's harder the first time that's happening a point to target of prior... You know, the priority target or target of. Yeah. Same like it's terrible. Oh that one's terrible. I don't... I you, I get that a lot of, like, the game is simulated work fair.
But I don't always understand why they do, like, Here's a secondary that your opponent gets to make the decision on. Do I think that it should, you know, you should be able to make it really easy by having you picked the closest unit. No. But at the same time, like, the moment you give the moment you give your opponent the ability to really decide how hard a secondary is gonna be Kinda feel like that's on a secondary that
should be played? Nick. I agree you. Whenever you're opponent gets to agency, it's just like, okay. What's the point? So unless you totally box of, like, it's turned forward, you're about the table only. Well, you got 4 units on the table, which 3 you're by extra points worth. Yeah. But but then it's not even like a strategy. It's it's this win win more. It's kinda stupid at that point. Mh. So kinda to be it's like, it was, it didn't really. It was not a fun experience.
Yeah. But were gave me a arrested game was fine though. Because the interesting, yeah, adding game 2, we had the, you could do an action with your battle line units and they could still shoot and fight. That was interesting. And I was trying to take advantage of with my witches because with pistols they could shoot salt and still do action. I was like, that would be pretty cool. But it just... The opportunity deborah came up. Yeah. But that might be a list change I
make. I may let tempted to put in a second unit of which is and throw the su in there. So so with a pain token, I can make them fight first. So Okay. I wanna get some more reps in before I do that. Yeah. That's fair. You wanna make sure you don't accidentally take out something that's actually really working for you? Well, would just still suffer from the same problem is getting out of the transport nuke something in close comment. Great. Oh, yeah. Forcing my opponent. You know, you
wanna put fall back for me. You're gonna do a desperate breakout. Zone ropes were, like, hell no. I'm not doing that. That's awesome. But as soon as they're Not in combat and they're out in the open. Great to get picked off. It's so bad. Well, let's not sure you you are playing d gl b os k information. Absolutely. So So that's why I always go I always
take a second chance and go. Do I wanna replace the witches with Carl quinn because at least to get a 4 up full all a time, but it's like, difference between 70 points for 5 versus 90 points for 10. I'm like, oh. Yeah. So anyway, all very good learning experiences, let's see how some some players a little more skill and experience did over the weekend. Where do you wanna start? Let's let's go, I was not a pawn there with the Be Gt.
Oh, who's shocked at who's in the attendance because this is, like, the the Etc or the, european being... Or is the W... Whatever it is. W is coming up. And, usually these players hun down so they don't tip their hand at what they're playing. But there's still so some big names at this tournament. Yeah. So this is the glass hammer. 1. Correct? Correct. Yeah. Glass hammer Gt, Birmingham. Alright. You want me just cover over the top cuts since there's a bit of a
separation there? Yeah. Let's do that. Okay. So we're starting with fourth place here, which is Darren Chapman. He played Drew. Mh. And he won event in the last 2 weeks the camera which ones are there, but he's been... He's been on fire of, like... Isn't that the 1 from the real space raiders podcast? Someone else? That's George and Polly. And, Dom Mad is deceased he's still in the podcast, but he's stopped playing Tu car at the moment.
Okay. Alright. Anyway, third place, Daniel Whitaker, playing world leaders. I kinda saw that in laugh considering we know someone with It's spelled differently, but same and last name, same faction. He did well. Yeah I think he also came in third. He second or third at this else that too. I'm sorry. Yeah. Anyway, oh, Second place, David Lan, playing Nec. There's a... That's a faction I'm kinda curious to kinda keep an eye on because,
mh. They did finally start getting a little of the nerves, but at the same time, it's like, there were some nurse. I wasn't expecting. And the way that, you know, I'm I knew the race point increase was coming, but, like, someone's updated. Anyway, first place, Josh Roberts, playing gas space marines. Alright. Interesting. How, So he was mister Ne. He was the guy that developed the ko grief menace that we all know and love. And suddenly, he's pivoting to chaos based brains.
Yeah. I do think it it is important to note that this tournament did play using the differential point system. It's good point. For those of you don't know. You get more points by the larger margin of victory in your battle points, which I think is I would use it as a tie breaker. I wouldn't use it as a full system. So... Yeah. Now I do believe a lot of times this come the differential is used for team tournaments. Mh. So I think that had something to do with it. That would agree.
Anyway, so that's that's the glass name or Gt. Mh. Now I get a little closer to home. Let's do it. What do we got? I don't know actually sure I remember where that 1 is. You know, you look at some of them and you're like, wait, which state was that in in the United States? Because it's 50 of them. How's about we start with Texas? Oh, yeah. Things are bigger in Texas. We'll talk about that. Alright. So Organs Con. Now War Con did not use for the pry nexus.
They did use Leviathan. So I'm just gonna point that out right now? Because you may be, like, well, why why did these come out like this when everybody else seems to be, like, just a little bit different. Well, that's probably got something to do with it. I'm gonna do it. Anyway, just... Like, this is a... It's also interesting to note that, yeah, back in fifth edition, War games Con used to be 1 of the big 4. Like, if you were looking for to win all the super majors
on the circuit. It was B, war games Gone, Nova and D. Those are the big 4. So it's interesting how all these other bigger events have now kind of eclipse and they also backed that it wasn't or Gone. It was Bowl gone because was... It's the guys who run blah souls used to run this tournament. So it's been around forever, but it's interesting. It's changed name a few times. And
yeah. It's kinda... It's it's still a solid tournament It's just funny how other ones Just kind of sprung up and took its place. So... Yep. Alright. So let's look at the top of 5 here. We've got it's Nathaniel Bj, playing t. Matthew T playing tau, Colin Mc took his works in the third. Mh. Justin Moore, also playing tau in second. And first was Matthew Ali lee, with his black temp. Interesting. Yeah. I don't know if we'll see that again in Par. Remains to be seen. We'll find out. But, yeah.
I will say that that locally 1 of our tile players is how on a hell of a hot. So, she's won 7 of her last 8 games now. So kidding. And playing with through retaliation Cad. So all suits. So I'm like, oh. Like that little while I played tile. That's what I did as I played suits. Yeah that cool. Let's see. I wanna save a particular the the 1 in Reno for last. Okay. It's go let's strip on that silicone valley 1 I pointed up to you. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So So was a nice little event at how many again,
had 34 people show up. Not bad at all. Fifth place we had, that eye is thrown me off. Romaine perhaps or Roman just spelled oddly, C, obviously, French with his adept In fifth. Yes. Was? Fairly respectable score for each game. Fourth place, Eric So with his thousand sons. Third was mad bad. Cute fan. I apologize. I definitely butcher that name, Playing Adept Sag test. I dreaded sister's time. Aaron Thunder bark took Nec a second.
And in first place, quite interestingly, reuben za playing Great knights. Right now just still pretty powerful. I think the thing I'm noticing they were actually on top table for the wind of the determine I was at, and they were gonna against blood angels, and the biggest thing is they just don't have blocking units. They don't have that shaft unit. They can use to block the other unit other army from the rolling over them every It's an elite army. Every unit is critical.
And every time you lose that piece, so you're losing up big chunk of your army. Yeah. So it's cool that he was be able to pull that off. It's... I'd be curious he has the typical 3 nemesis dread nights in a in a in a, in imperial night as a ally. I wish you would've have said someone before I closed the window. That's okay. I wanna let you know. That'll be dope.
More to come. Yeah. Alright. The last event, which was probably the 1 the most interest for me because Rob went, which is why he's got here today. I'm sure it'll give us a full review next week. Just safe travels on the way home. Yep. Alright. Again, We had for prior nexus missions. So at least in some instances, you know, people weren't exactly as experienced they were with Leviathan. So the top 5 looks like this. Fifth place Sam H, playing at Doctor So. Fourth was Matthew Ko, playing ash.
And third, Jason Mckenzie playing a adept mechanic. You heard that right. Yeah. He's gonna fire with that list for a while. He was at Sprinkle of last fall, and he finished the top. 5 of that army. So he's he's figured something out that no 1 else to scene. Yeah. I I'm sure anybody who's been fighting with by Ad mac is probably sitting pretty if they already knew what they were doing and now they've gotten bus. Yeah. So second place. Y or Joe bow, playing tau.
Towel creep it up again. Mh. And in first place, playing a faction, I never expected him to play, especially if you happen to be friends of on Facebook get would... You really wouldn't have guessed. At Ben Jerk was blood angels. Yeah. Again, A big surprise. I don't I hope he's not tipping his hands for his WTW fashion. This is, I don't know what the heck that was. But but, yeah, Hey. Congratulations. Big win for Ben. Always happy to see it when. So... But, yeah, blood angels. What the hell?
Don't know where that came from. Yeah. I honestly didn't even know he had space brains. Yeah. I knew he had El r. I knew he had works. I think that's all I knew he had. Crazy. Yeah. So if you're curious are c host Rob, you can find him down on what ended up being... Thirteenth place. You know, he started off good, and then and then he found Ben. And then the rest of the day 1 kind of was rough on them. But day day 2 turned out really well
for. Yeah. So And this spoke post them with scores of, in uses. Crank it and primary. I was was, like forties and fifties I was like, wow. Look at that. And so... Yeah. I I can't wait... III know I won't be able to join you guys because of when I work, but... I'll definitely be listening once the have a episode post to, yeah, get the run rundown on it. Yeah. Cool stuff. Alright. So there we go. Is our events for this week.
Normally, we do the mid table security, but honestly, it's a little too early in the meta this the things really changed too much. But, array, we were kinda talking before the show and kinda technical quick look at the events where we could find that out. What missions are playing played the most, among prying nexus. Yeah. We... With what missions we could find that were played. None were shared. Yeah. 11 games, 11 different missions across 2 tournaments. So was just like,
everybody's trying out everything. So I think we're the early stages still. So we'll figure out as games progress, which which missions and which, combinations with secondary with that second, but whatever the fog of war versus battle if these bonuses, which ones gonna stick out. You just call it mission combos? Yeah. Mission combos is what I'm trying to say. But pretty exciting stuff there. Yep. So alright. I think we covered all our pieces for tonight. Anything else you wanna add right?
No. I don't think so. Okay. So, yeah, I look forward to seeing what else. The week brings. Maybe hoping for some sma of a preview of something for 40 k, but without holding my breath. At this point, but I guess, Sig martin their time in the sun as well. But Although, I was looking... Had admit at conversion fever earlier this week. I was looking at some of the Silva nest models, and they have their do spear box, which is their new start collecting type thing. Yeah. Which apparently is the best
part of a new release apparently. Their their version is just, like, way better than combat patrol. So like, okay. But anyway, I was looking at that. I was going like, maybe I could do an expedite army. Those balls could do this. This could be that. Slippery slope there. Very slippery slope. That's problem. You put all that time and energy into it and you get some angry T goes. No. Those conversions are done allowed. Even if they do match in 99 percent of the.
Models you were planning that you can't get it older or wanting to have looked different anyway. Correct. So Anyway, I was thinking it through it. They could be kinda cool. Yeah. Alright. That's all I got for this week. Thanks again for listening. Man for this week. My name's is Eric. Hi, I'm Raymond. And catch us next week on the extra podcast. Hey, listeners.
