Episode description
Behind every successful neuron are glial cells. Glial cells are non-neuronal cells. They are a diverse range of cells which allow the neuron to do its job. They provide metabolic support to neurons, including neuronal insulation, communication, nutrient transport and even act as immune support. For instance, issues with microglia (a type of glial cells that is helpful for waste transport/immune support for neurons) has been implicated in Alzheimer's disease.
