Intro

i have made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgment and i do not expect to be forgiven i am uh what does he say i am i am fully here to apologize i think that's what he says i don't know i i know the first little part which is funny i don't know why i know i know the entirety of toxic gossip train i think really i do i've said it so many times because i've referenced it so many times this is our apology episode welcome to everything's an argument i am david i have a dog

here you can't see it and i'm crying i'm sorry we have been gone for a month ah and that i just had a plosive into my microphone there um yeah sorry we we apologize we've never gotten that far into the theme song before i never heard that part before oh it's gone now dang it yeah it's gone it was fading out as i was fading out so it was really unnecessary we always faded out before we so yeah we we last episode we released was on april fool's day and our april fool's day joke was

to not post for the rest of the month right isn't that funny happy may y'all what's it called may the first be with you may the first be with you that's right it's national may the first be with you day close enough um yeah we we have been we we had to leave the state uh there was some issues uh like my buddy getting married yeah so we had to we had to leave the state Leila had her um i had crap to do i had crap to do yeah she had a lot of stuff with band to do um after school activities school

activities and then um couldn't we couldn't find i'm super cool oh and i got sick and then Leila's got sick i got sick and we we had a month and i mean i wasn't even posting online i haven't really been online that much and we've been doing some stuff but that's where we've been we had a great time down in georgia um we were looking for a soul to steal yeah we were in a bind because we were way behind looking to make a deal and i was sick and this guy made me go to the dump yep she had to

go to the dump with me we had to get rid of some stuff um yeah we've we've just had a month i'll tell you uh we appreciate everybody who stays some stayed subscribed definitely appreciate that and we're sorry for the leave of absence without much news about it um we had intended to post and things just got crazy with this and um we hope we can make up for it yeah we're hoping hoping we can uh so that is what we have been doing for the last last month just a short little thing we did sneak away

and see the minecraft movie yeah we did a mine i think it's a mine it's a minecraft movie it's not

Minecraft Movie Review

just called minecraft so i have been playing minecraft since way way way way way way way back when it was just like but pre-beta i mean like i read about it somewhere and there was like barely tools in the game to work with it was it was crazy long time ago um and i i was like i've been playing it for a long time too not as long as you have you old man yeah yeah i actually just rolled up a new rolled up a new minecraft server actually yeah and we already have a villager farm yeah how

did that happen real quick it's pretty quick if you know what you're doing um but we really i enjoyed going to the movie and i actually enjoyed the movie a lot of people were like oh it's drivel it's well i was like well what a what are you expecting yeah um b if you go in with the attitude of this is going to be a goofy silly movie um and it's just going to be for fun and nostalgia yeah and to sell toys

if you go in knowing that and just turn your brain off and i did get one of the steve action figures thank you very much you did uh we we had to go to walmart.com and i had to order it i had to make a walmart account for this it was 11 o'clock and i was like oh crap it's the last one in stock i'm ordering it right now and they're like huh like what steve oh my gosh and it's okay middle-aged overweight man action heck yeah that's what it is um but we we had a good time at the movie we the

audience that we were with didn't like go absolutely insane about that so Leila didn't get the full experience but so mad it is what it is um the there was a family in the theater when we went and saw it that was just it wasn't the kind of rowdy that all of the other people seemed to get it was only on certain parts like some of them were like watching tiktok while the movie was going the most rowdy they got was at the technoblade reference spoiler alert for the technoblade

reference but if you're on the internet you know about it there's a technoblade reference and i had to be explained what that was and i vaguely we explained all of the the references that he didn't understand which was like that was the only one that he didn't really yeah that was pretty much and i didn't recognize a lot of the a lot of the youtubers or let's players were that i didn't really recognize uh mumbo jumbo i think was that heck yeah but it was it was a fun movie and it was

funny because when we got home we were looking up like you know easter eggs you might have missed videos and i was like whoa you know and uh and a couple of them i like i missed a couple you blow out the microphone i'm sorry your precious ears but um the video they were saying oh the it was the same director for napoleon dynamite and i was like oh because the first 10 15 minutes of the movie that's kind of like telling steve's backstory is very napoleon dynamite like you can tell that it's the

same director and he also worked with jack black on um nacho libre which is one of my favorite movies he did i want just a silly comedy so i forgot that they've already worked together i give the movie just over i'm not going into acting you know i'm just just i give the movie eight and a half eight and a half got a couple of good laughs uh had the nostalgia they should i give it it was pretty funny i don't know that's up to you i think i'm giving it like a 8.9 yeah that's 8.95 getting too much

nitty-gritty you can't can't go that deep into fractions 8.901 got it i'm not even a huge fan of the 0.5 no like just just do it one out of ten no why would you with only integers wait what does it have on rotten tomatoes oh let's look up hold on i think it's like like i do like how rotten tomatoes has two different scores they've got your a minecraft i do like that audience score and critic score because like nobody nobody cares you know that steve's lava chicken is on the top 100

the shortest song ever on the top 100 billboard charts really that's amazing made history thank you jack black so uh that was 5.9 5.9 on is that the audience that's on imdb oh that's the imdb rating um i had fun i had i had major fun so everybody everybody to the limit v for v yes we are a value for value podcast we put the show out for free every once in a while like once a month

Value for Value

apparently apparently apparently apparently apparently who's media manager um and we put the show out and if you enjoy the show and you feel like supporting us you can do that uh multiple ways you can go to fun fact freddy dot i'm sorry excuse me whoa bleep that out um go to can't say that argument pod.com and click the donations link at the top of the page and i'll take you to our donations page and there's various ways that you can hook us up with some support uh

also if you use a modern podcast app that supports boosts like fountain or podcast guru you can send us a little bits of satoshi um claire over at podcasting 2.0 in practice good friend of ours friend of the show uh has a whole whole show about um doing payments like setting up how to how to pay podcasters using the new systems so you can go check that out podcasting 2.0 in practice uh um whatever your favorite modern podcast app is yeah we did receive a paypal sustaining donation

from dreb scott's the oreo donation 1912 oreo donation because oreos were invented in 1912 oh we found some of the uh what was the precursor to oreo hydrox oh yeah we found some hydrox we forgot to buy and we forgot to buy them we were at a cracker barrel i think we were wanted to go home oh yeah yeah i didn't feel good oh no yeah that was before the wedding we were like we gotta get back oh yeah yeah we had to get back to get dressed or something

something like that we were eating breakfast at like 12 right as you do on vacation yeah um but yeah we we received that uh 1912 we definitely appreciate that that covers uh website costs and other associated costs and we received a bunch of boosts from wow four weeks ago i hate seeing that oh it just went by so fast um fountain the app it's fountain.fm four weeks ago 333 satoshis from chad f uh and that is uh says everything's an argument number six ai with kyle abeer that's

the episode and look what the cat dragged in excited to hear kyle again yeah i still hear his jingles being played from time to time that's right we definitely want to thank kyle for being on our last episode with us we really enjoyed it um and he's welcome back anytime talk about anything not just uh ai or whatever we can just do movie movie talk we had a good time at the end of the last episode next boost is 3333 sats chad f with the threes and uh that's also for episode six great

hearing from kyle and getting his take on ai as a voice actor intergalactic boombox was a wild show it was i loved it it was um a lot of great content on there some of it is uh timely like it was certain shows coming out and he was like reviewing them shows and movies talking about them but it's all still most of it's evergreen so you can go anytime uh next boost is podcast guru from three weeks ago and that's uh 1321 from randy black hey randy um and it says let's get kyle set up with a cdn to

host that podcast go podcasting oh yeah we gotta get our setup we got yeah we do i got i got work to do and i've been busy oh no my linux is making noise i have a switch to linux for our podcasting so have i computers and we're getting off windows completely here pretty soon um so last before i continue on the boosts uh randy has put um as a as a show i'm i mentioned it and it is mountain music i believe

it's half hour or happy hour mountain music happy hour i want to make sure i'm getting it right uh yeah mountain music happy hour that's right i'm gonna say half hour mountain music happy hour and uh you can get that on whatever podcast player you like but you know we prefer the modern podcast apps here and uh you can actually hear lila's voice from when she was very very young yeah you can the intro to that so uh just a little like crazy to hear my voice from back then yeah so different

just a little two-word little clip that that uh was on there so um we definitely appreciate you putting her on there and that's that's awesome and the show is actually the music he picks it you know music's subjective but i enjoy it i have a good time with the show uh i'll put it on when i'm running errands and stuff all right next one fountain 847 sats from kevin hallisee heck yeah a holy guacamole boosting from albuquerque this time heck yeah where there are mountains where there are mountains

unlike ohio ohio is that state that's uh high in the middle around on both ends that's my dad's joke um great to hear kyle that's that was me uh okay so kevin says i'm like ohio talking about mountains great to hear kyle especially the live boost that's uh kyle's i love all the kyle love yeah kyle's the best uh kyle it did get i didn't mention this in the show kyle does get a split of all of this yes so um anybody that comes on that has a wallet will get a split and if you want to be

a guest on the show just let us know and talk about whatever you know we're not really tied to any specific thing it's awesome all right next boost uh from fountain 2222 sets 2222 sets from bully steed hey bully i love all the simple numbers it's a row of ducks they're very easy for me to read right really enjoyed this thoughtful discussion really enjoyed oh yep really enjoyed this thoughtful discussion on audio ai and for recommending the outer range tv show it's a good

show um ancients postulated that matter can neither be destroyed nor created so these characters cannot operate in the same timeline first rule of time travel shows so i okay so i'm an armchair scientist meaning i i read a lot of science stuff and and look into a lot of science stuff and this um the one thing that you're forgetting is that it's magic yeah it's wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff come on wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff exactly so uh no it's i i get that like i've thought about

okay so we're watching doctor who right now or i'm i'm starting to watch it they've already watched it obviously but we're watching the christopher eccleson season but every like time they time travel a new thing pops into my head that would like not be explained then we need to do a whole episode we need to do a whole we should do a doctor who episode we should well yeah we could do a series we do a whole other show about doctor we could um especially as you're discovering things do a

little little 10 minute recording after each episode where you're like oh my gosh so that would be neat we can talk about that it would it wouldn't be as good quality because we wouldn't be out in the studio i could just turn my phone recorder on but like i thought about it today during an episode wouldn't they be everywhere all at once who uh the doctor doctor who okay anyways last last boost oh yeah last boost sorry uh 3333 sets from

piranessi piranissi uh not sure how to say that new booster definitely appreciate that first time and it says outer range bender yes and i'm so mad that they've they're saying that there's not going to be a third season um we watched the first season a long time ago and then the second season come out so we re-watched the first season waiting for the second season to come out and then watch the second season and now we're like we shouldn't have done that that's what you'll do with severance

what we do with severance also because y'all were like we're not gonna watch it until the full season comes out and then we then y'all watch it like after the third episode came out i was like y'all y'all couldn't wait it was no we couldn't we couldn't we had nothing to do one night you and like y'all kept like avoiding going on youtube and crap yeah because there was nothing but spoilers yeah um well we definitely appreciate all the boosts and we're sorry we're gone for so

long um wait we we appreciate everybody listening and coming back yes thank you so much so much um for all the all the support but one of the time travel things i gotta go back yes okay we got we got to talk about time travel for a second here when there is a the okay i can't remember the name of the show it was a very short-lived network tv show and it involved time travel and they actually talked about um when they sent somebody back they had to bring

forward or no it created like a sonic boom because the new the new matter coming into wherever they landed would display stuff yeah and like they had to yank matter from somewhere else in the the past timeline to wherever so they had like swap matter yeah because matter did not be created nor destroyed right so they moved forms the same amount of mass from the past to the future when they sent something to the past i can't remember what it was um that's so neat so they actually

thought about that and you know they wibbly wobbly'd it but they at least thought about it you know oh there's a big old spider on the wall where oh my gosh okay okay okay okay okay start us talking

Spider Attack

about your topic okay okay um okay so uh uh it's kind of hard to do no it's like fully it's black i can't say that yeah we have scary spiders in north carolina oh my gosh where was it no this is content remember we had that big horsefly that didn't happen on this show that never happened actually okay he's in the carpet oh no where's he going he's seen the wall he's seen the wall he got him okay uh why is nothing surprising people anymore that's the topic for today

like that spider just surprised us is what he said yes like that spider just surprised us it's not oh okay so he said it's not dead it's not dead i don't know if you can hear you probably can't hear him it's inside the wall and oh he's cramming something in the wall so it can't get out there's other holes in the bottom of this wall okay we should tell mom to not come out here so i have a couple points on why nothing might be surprising anymore and padre will probably

come in and talk about his opinions on stuff okay he's back headphones on uh i'm key i'm gonna go crisscross applesauce because i'm afraid of the spider okay okay so why do you think that nothing's

Surprise Me

surprising anymore or what's an example that you can give me um aliens yeah when they discovered aliens everyone was like oh okay like it didn't surprise anyone and they well they've also they've and i i haven't read through the stuff so this is all just what i've heard and um i haven't gone and read the original sources but they're saying that it is confirmed that the cia was involved in the kennedy assassination um what have i been saying they have said well that's

what i'm saying like the government came out and confirms things that people have been talking about as conspiracy theories or whatever for forever and i was just like oh okay everybody's like oh yeah but the orange man said something mean um so whatever the news cycle is is feeding you like they're it's the rage bait stuff they get you enraged about stuff and you don't even notice the other stuff that's

slipping through slipping through the cracks um yeah like the the news the news quote unquote will get the media the the legacy media was a legacy media will get on something and they'll be harping on it so hard that other stuff just kind of just kind of goes through i did find an interesting thing on uh wikipedia okay there is a um current events portal that what do you mean it's a

Current Event Portal

it's like a a list of everything that's happened on a certain day like mash major news stories and stuff um oh i love that yeah because i was looking for like uh what the top news i have i have not been online very much um current events portal wikipedia i think is what i searched um and found it yeah portal current events here we go so it goes by day and it'll say like uh here let me just pick a pick

a random day where probably nothing interesting happened and i don't know april 21st um you can't say that's my friend's birthday well i mean yeah i get out of eight billion people on the planet this is like three of my friend's birthdays a lot of people were born then no i was gonna say oh what was it the pope died one one day around there oh the 22nd was it no it was like yeah it was 22nd i think 22nd so it's a couple days after easter yeah um like easter jd vance and then yeah so but like

it's neat because it has like armed conflicts and attacks disasters and accidents law and crime sports business economy so it pretty much big big events that would make it onto wikipedia anyway but it has like when they happen um like on international relations on april 21st klaus schwab steps down as the leader of the world economic forum uh which he founded in 1971 uh just stuff like that um thought that was interesting yeah but that's when you go on the major news stations there's one story

for the day you know yeah and and it's usually something to do with politics usually something to do with politics and it's usually leaning one way or the other depending on what channel you're watching yeah um but then if you go to alternate news sources podcasts that are specialized in certain things or um even youtube videos that are specialized in certain things then you can

Nothing is Surprising

start to build what i miss is websites i'm going to go off on a little tangent homestar runner is coming back to homestar runner.com i had a whole thing going on okay go ahead continue no i'm done homestar runner is coming back to homestar runner.com i'm very happy it's very exciting news he told me the other day i was like what okay they're trying to be on somebody else's platform yeah so i started

thinking about this when we were researching like topics for the podcast i was brainstorming and i was like yeah why is nothing surprising people anymore because like nothing surprises me anymore on the internet at least and current events and crap like that and i was looking into why that is and i just started like thinking and it's just it it's the internet man the internet's the problem and social

media is the problem the internet was like steak social media it yes very much so social media is definitely not a reflection of reality so i think a lot of people are used to getting their like to not getting their hopes up online but also the dopamine you get from accessing the internet using social media stuff like that like the very short burst of dopamine we get yeah from the internet it's very addicting and it keeps you motivated to keep on the platform and it goes from cute kitty video

to shock content to rage bait to an advertisement to an advertisement that's rage bait then back to the kitties and then a conspiracy theory like and then for some reason the algos got me on camper vans right now um homemade camper vans the um yeah yeah you're it's it it's the algos the algos are amazing and i'll be talking to somebody in real life and they'll start to bring up something that they're angry about or they find outrageous or whatever i'm like yeah but is that is that real

life is that happening in real life or is just just an internet thing that's happening and most of the stuff that people are very upset about it's just something they read on the internet and they can be an extremely small like um for for example did you hear about that group that has boycotted pencils and everybody's like oh that's stupid that's okay and it's two people i'll use a pen it's two people

oh yeah and then there'll be a whole pens versus pencils debate and then there'll be a whole and it's like it was two people but for some reason it got pushed by the algo uh maybe they paid to have their their post pushed by the algo and then everybody gets crazy about it and it's like this the stupid hundred dudes versus a gorilla um argument that's going on have you heard of this no i've watched so

many videos and like read a bunch of things about the the mr beastification this media and i kind of get it but i i okay i hate when people use ification or at the end of like because oh my gosh i've been on commentary youtube i have watched all the videos all of it i've seen all of it uh and like half of the videos are like the blankification of the or of like youtube or the blankification of tiktok or like oh my gosh they're all the same but i like finding ones that i can actually get more

transformative content out of so like a lot of the commentary this is a tangent about commentary youtube but okay explain what commentary youtube is okay commentary youtube there's different types of commentary youtube but the one that i'm talking about is taking something from either youtube tiktok instagram some sort of social media site and saying this situation this is bad we should change something

about this so or take this situation this is good or bad we don't know yet but i'm gonna tell you all about it that's so it's taking somebody else's content and playing it while talking about it no that's not at all i'm talking about okay because that's what i think about is commentary channels ah those i consider reaction channels so commentary channels okay they're more commentary than it's more

Consume!

transformative than just reaction very much more and it's more scripted than reaction content so like i've seen ones about i'm gonna use the over consumption ones as like a the basis of what i'm talking about there's a lot of tiktoks about like okay do you know what sheen is do you know what timu is yes very cheaply made products sold for cheap uh pretty much directly from china yes there's a lot of videos sorry i'm bad at speaking there's a lot of videos on youtube

that are talking about tiktoks of hauls and stuff from sheen from everything like that but also just spending your money on stuff that you do not need so like what comes to mind is like those infomercials for like the egg cookers slapping your troubles away with the slap chop like you don't need that you have a knife that slap chop was kind of cool though and it was cheap and it was cheap enough but that's the thing and that is the thing that is over consumption you're buying something

that you don't need and that is wasting and resources and we love our slap chop so much for the first week we had it and then never touched it again exactly and that's what that's what i'm saying with like the dopamine hits yeah man yeah man yeah man but what was i saying commenter youtube it's just every single time i see something up on those channels i'm like yeah that makes sense which is what i'm saying with like surprising like when i heard about the whole there's a situation

right i know everything oh my gosh i'm realizing how like chronically online i am even though i don't have any social media they're like youtube well you play youtube videos in the background while you're doing stuff yeah that's so i mean i don't think of that as much anything other than having a tv on a radio on you know yeah so there's a situation recently with jojo siwa which jojo siwa was not a real person she was on celebrity big brother right in the uk i believe uh was it was it here

Celebrity Gossip

i don't even know i don't know it was one of them i really don't watch big brother anymore it got boring i don't like reality tv shows right okay she was getting to be really good friends with this guy on the show and like realizing like oh this guy is pretty cool you know but she also had someone back home like watching the show being like oh this is this is fine like this is just a show right and then she went out with her partner after it was all done and broke up with her

jojo siwa broke up with her partner oh my gosh at like a party and she was like oh that's and it's but it's it's not good silly drama it's so silly about people you don't know that are everything they do they make sure they run and tell their publicist that they did it yeah which is also another point that i was saying that i that i have written down um if something happens you will definitely hear about it when it comes to celebrity and stan culture they're following

every aspect of all of these celebrities lives yeah and it doesn't matter no oh my god why do i care who jojo siwa is in a relationship with old family guy quote of course i love it oh my god who the hell kids yes exactly dude i do not care i don't care about big brother and the bad part is that the algos are so like they're they're so short-sighted right now that they're like if you watch one camper

van video oh my gosh this dude loves camper vans he watched an entire four minute video about a camper van oh my gosh he must love camp that's all we're going to show him for the next month is camper vans so if you happen to let it autoplay the next video and it's about jojo siwa all of a sudden you're going to know everything there is to know about this person oh yes and it's like oh so you got to learn to you gotta learn to turn off the autoplay and you got to go clear your history every

once in a while um especially if your algo starts getting messed up uh go clear your history you also have to learn who you're watching like if you're getting information from a source because i'm not saying i'm not saying people will go on the internet and lie but i'm saying that there's a lot of opinions that people have and people are flawed so it's like you never know where not you apparently not this guy over here i'm pointing with my thumb we need a sound for that exactly

also nothing on the internet is serious anymore uh there's a there's some serious stuff but it's it's few and far between

Nothing is Serious

yeah and it's because serious is boring yeah and that's the whole the point with it or it tries really hard to be too serious yes yes like the darkest videos on youtube or which also i think is a problem with um nothing being serious anymore i feel like that's a problem with people thinking that things are too cringe to do and just like oh yeah i saw mad at people being happy a whole video about um stop worrying about people being cringe and start just not cringing

or something like that like start being cringe i don't know he was basically talking about um the millennial posters i guess people that posted things that are from the millennial generations got really cringe there for a while yeah um their content was very cringy and so a lot of people started to either a lean into it extremely hard like miranda sings oh she's been doing that man right but i mean that was her whole shtick was i'm trying to make

people cringe and there's a lot of quote unquote creators out there doing that trying to be as cringe as possible so there's a niche for niche niche for that and um like saying niche like like frederick nichey there's a niche for that there's a niche for that so it it you gotta just put your content what if you're creating something and you're wanting to create it in order to put it out there just do it just do it for your happiness you will find yeah like even for money like oh yeah

you'll find your audience you will um especially if you go to where the kind of people who might enjoy that thing are and let them know hey i'm making content for your for your area i'm i'm hoping to start a youtube channel about tinkering with tech stuff and i'm going to try and get into those niches online and talk to people who are already in that space to maybe get a little boost at the beginning because

that's kind of the thing is if you start slow and nobody watches your stuff you're it's not going to get recommended so you kind of got to get into the communities and start big even if the big doesn't start off i mean it doesn't jump you immediately it'll get at least keep the algo on your side but i feel like the desire to get big is not there for everybody no it's not it's just i'm i'm glad that's not exactly i know a couple people in the podcast space if you want to say it like that that

are they don't want more than 50 or 100 viewers yeah listeners they don't want it and i love that i love that people have that yeah and aren't just like oh i'm doing this because i want to get famous i want to build a group a group of people that they need to build an audience that enjoy our show that we enjoy talking to um and then we just need one extremely wealthy benefactor to um you know just give us a whole bunch of money for the show

just you know 100 000 a year don't change anything don't take ads you know we just we like it keep doing it i've seen artists get benefactors like that and i'm like that's that's great for them that's awesome good job but uh you know if we don't we don't release but one episode a month you know i don't think don't know if that's gonna happen uh one second here okay you're on so now i want to talk about pandemic so what's what's covid got to do with it what's

got to do got to do with it we're gonna make that a jingle because we're probably gonna talk about it a lot everything everything everything is a covid oh no my microphone stands falling off okay here we

What's Covid Got to Do With It?

we're changing it from uh e what what is it ea a uh-huh yeah to yak everything's and covid everything and everything's and everything's and and covid a and covid okay so when i was researching this topic i was just kind of brain dumping onto a little google doc and i was like what's covid got to do with this because i knew it i knew in my heart i was like covid definitely has something to do with like people's people's brains brains yeah because so much happened in those like two years

we were in lockdown and it i found something okay that i very what did you find wonder i had a whole sentence i was gonna say that's all i said okay anyways the pandemic has caused a disconnection between the measurable objective time and the internally perceived subjective time so like our routines have definitely changed from everything being so you can't expect anything from covid because when during lockdown everything was so

oh what's gonna happen next like i don't know if we're gonna go back to school back to the office what's what's gonna happen after today you know everyone just like kind of woke up and went from there look and customer service still hasn't come back yeah like every single place yes every single place that you go well okay most places that you go i've had some good service and good customer service a few places since then but very very rarely um it just it's gone and i don't know if it has to do

with like i don't know how people everywhere here is hiring right yes oh my gosh everywhere is great it's great when you're looking for a job it's bad because they're like yeah we're short-staffed so you know we hire pretty much anybody who applies which is not good when you're you know you can't be picky not good when you're going to the hospital and there's no there's not enough staff at the hospital yeah

so there's lots of situations and people and i'm like how are these people living if nobody's working and um i don't know the answer to that um pandemic pandemic yeah that's the answer to everything but yeah so talking about time perceived time and because of the pandemic we have a very distorted experience of the passive time now because everything was so back to back and even during covid we like realized oh it i don't even know how much time's passed like my brain still thinks it's

like i was thinking about the other day i was like what year is it and my like first instinct was oh it's 2000 like 23 yeah time time does feel different and it was really weird i was like that it is not the more yeah now the more i'm thinking about it the more time has time has definitely not this last month like the april we released our episode on april 1st and it feels like we just released it it does

but we did also it feels like a year ago because of all the stuff we did but then like i don't know yeah i get what you're saying time does feel different it really does but that really did affect especially since the internet was so prevalent during that time and like tiktok was starting to come up all of everything people started realizing oh this isn't like content creation isn't something that just certain people can do anyone can really pick up a mic anyone can start a podcast yeah

i'm gonna go on a little rant all right i went to a podcast conference and i had someone sit down at the table um that i was sitting at and this person was like uh it was me and a bunch of and this you know we're not a kid show anymore and we're not we don't care about being controversial i sat at a table and it was about six other white guys and then this girl and we were going around to introduce

ourselves to each other she was like well i'm here at this podcast conference because i just feel like there are just too many white dudes in podcasting and i want to make it to where there's more different voices topic we're going into after this and i said and i didn't say anything i was being very polite because i don't think i was actually supposed to be in that room it was like a vip room uh great thing and i was not gonna rattle anybody but basically i'm i'm like okay so the beauty of

podcasting the beauty of content creation is literally all you need to do it is a phone so if people aren't making podcasts of certain whatever group whatever demographic that she was talking about it's on them because you can literally go to google and type in how do i make a podcast and there are every resource you can possibly imagine and if you have a smartphone which is what i don't know probably 90 of people now um that would be interested in creating a podcast

you can make a podcast on your cell phone and you can actually make it pretty good um depending on your your mic and all that you can even buy a usb mic that'll hook up to your cell phone and there's free providers for traffic i mean you know your bandwidth and your storage and all that there's all this stuff that you can do that's totally for there is no barrier to entry when it comes to a podcast um if you really want to make one you can make one so i was like i was

going to go off on her about it but i was like because i'm very passionate about the reason is you you just got to do it like i'm like you anybody can make a podcast it's it's a little bit of a learning curve but it's not hard yeah and um when somebody acts like there's a barrier to entry or that certain people are trying to keep other people out of the out of it that you can't keep other people out of it the way podcasts work is that's one of the beauties of podcasting is you

can't keep other people from making a podcast um but i'm not going to go off on that that whole that was a little bit of a tangent but it i don't know it was just like she was acting like there was gatekeeping going on that wasn't going on you know so speaking of women women are the worst you know it's worse than women men he said that in the car with my friends the other day and i was

Women are the Worst

like dad we're they were talking about somebody being a misogynist i was like i'm a misogynist we're talking about minecraft youtubers if they guess right yeah yeah and uh and i was like yeah women are the worst and they were just kind of like and i was like you know what's worse than women though and they were like uh uh i was like men although you know it's worse than men women the never-ending never-ending cycle so speaking of women women blue origin blue origin we meant

to talk about this a while back yep this was on our list of stuff to talk about this was like 15 days ago this feels like like a month ago we were in the car eating talking about we got it we got to come up with topics we had to talk about this on the show we got to talk about this on the show yes okay so i first heard about this you said like oh katie perry went in space and i was like being a woman are you do you feel empowered not at all i feel worse i feel way worse okay i have a

lot to say on this topic that's a that's a really i've been thinking about this since this happened that's an iso i got a lot to say on this topic it really is okay so what a crew they had what a quote unquote crew they had okay what was the crew i know katie perry was on there i know there was a former nasa scientist i know there was like who oprah win no okay not oprah winfrey if you're if you're unfamiliar blue origin uh one uh one old uh

amazon man's rocket ships yep shot a group of ladies group of old jeff yeah oh jeff old weird eye jeff um shot a rocket ship with some ladies ended up into space for about 10 minutes and when the flight lasted around 11 minutes yeah the whole the whole entire flight miles above earth yeah so and when i say space we're really very edge of the atmosphere yep yep um yeah uh anyway so okay go ahead okay the flight lasted around 11 minutes and traveled more than 60 miles above earth according

to blue origin passing the carmen line which is at 62 miles above sea level and is considered to be the boundary between earth's atmosphere and outer space which i don't really understand because the the exosphere just trickles off into space okay so basically it's where it's where you can start experiencing weightlessness okay i get that okay good to know good to know yeah that's why they call it the edge of space because it's like oh wait i'm floating that means we're in space right yeah sure

yeah just write that down i'm sure they uh they have a more scientific explanation for the edge of space but i feel like that's the that's the thing katie perry there's something about her that just everything about her is fake that and also she just like ticks me off man well you're i don't like it you you as a person are a little bit repulsed by fakeness yeah i mean yeah so i i get that um it's one of the

reasons you don't like social media because it's all fake so let's see what happened with katie perry she upon landing back on back on earth and exiting the capsule perry raised her hand to the sky and kissed the ground what what a thing to do but then she she said she regretted doing it she said she regretted doing it because she was like what did she say basically it was like um i feel like i don't

know i feel like i did it for the wrong reason yeah or she also took a daisy up with her into space to honor her four-year-old daughter daisy that's cute i think it's cute so my my whole i love it spin on this when we were talking about it in the car and eating our popeyes was uh popeyes chicken is awesome not a sponsor um we will take some free chicken though um i i think that it was very much they needed to just say we wanted to do this so we did it we had the money to

do it we wanted to do it and it was fun it was something we wanted to do um and the money we paid went to people and the you know all that instead of making it like oh we're doing it to raise awareness we're doing it for you know girl power we're doing it for no just be like hey look we had a whole lot of money if i had if i won the lottery and won a billion dollars um i can't say i wouldn't hop in one of

those capsules and give it a go you know just for fun but she feels like i have a lot to say too okay so that that's basically how i see it i wish that they would have just done it and sure if the news covers it whatever but they made it into like it was this virtuous thing that they did so my opinion on this and i'm i'm gonna say a lot of stuff and you can come in after i hate the idea of uh capitalizing off of space and everything outside of earth and i don't morally agree with blue origin

but it's a thing that exists and who am i to shut down jeffrey bezos i don't have the power to do that he's a billionaire so i i kind of get why they did it but again with what you said the reason they did it was not there and they were just they worded it really weird they were like oh we're having the first all-female crew it just really like rubbed me the wrong way saying like it kind of discredited all of the women that have already been astronauts and that have been up in

the like space space stations before that have been working for so long and it kind of feels more like more sexist than like empowering women because it feels like they're saying that women have only been able to exist in space because of men and up until now the re one of the reasons that the ladies didn't go into space in the past is because it used to be this extreme societal imperative to protect women and going into space is by its very nature extremely dangerous back

then i mean look at how many things blow up trying to go into space so it wasn't like the boys were like we don't want no broad on this ship that'll be bad look it was like a uh no no women are more valuable and we want to be you know we're the we're the brave explorer guys we're going to go do this sort of thing and i don't know i wasn't there but but what you're talking about with um capitalizing on

space and rich people making money off of this sort of thing um whenever something like this comes up talking trash about billionaires and whatever i try to scale things back and i'm like if you've got a problem with blue origin people doing space tourism spending money to go take a trip up into space for a few minutes just to say that they did it just to experiencing it you have to scale it back and is

it wrong for us to go to roller coaster parks just no that's a whole different thing how though roller coaster parks are a thing that exists on earth that has been a place that we've discovered like well they're just paying they're getting paid money for the use of their ship that goes fast and can reach to the edge of space so that's all they're getting paid for it's not like they're going into space and colonizing it and taking resources i feel like that's where we're headed well

then that's a discussion we'll have when we get there but the moon doesn't belong to anybody right moon is disgusting it's made out of cheese that wet cheese look it up look it up look up that one guy wet cheese no it's the moon it's not like that the moon's made of cheese if you if you google it it'll come up if you google it yeah it's one of his most popular times so um no i i feel like you have to scale things back because you'll hear people

talking about um people in america who you know live in a house with plumbing and electricity and they have the internet and tv and subscriptions and cell phones and all this stuff right complaining about how they don't have anything but these billionaires have more than they can possibly ever have or possibly ever need while they're complaining about that they've got food in their refrigerator rotting away because they are going out to eat too often and their food goes bad before

they get to it so there's people in other countries that are extremely poor comparatively who could say the same thing about that person you know so you got to scale things back when you're talking about um when somebody has too much or too little he might some people could say that about us you know i've got more computers than we could possibly use in our house a lot of that is just because i haven't put it on marketplace yet but it's just old computers that would be fine for

checking email or basic web serving but it's just a matter of i gotta i gotta zero out the hard drive and i gotta you know post it up on facebook and then deal with the people on facebook marketplace and so that's why i have too much computer stuff but it's either here nor there i'm just talking about the you look at things through a different lens sometimes and the things that you're complaining about somebody could also say the same thing about you so that's something to think about

where are we going from here where are we going from here shock content despair i wrote despair for the life in the world to come i you got the despair hammer out i wrote despair for the life of the world to come like hopelessness because people i feel like right

Despair Hammer

now don't really see a future i hate saying that but it really is kind of like that we don't know where it's going to go from here there's always been that though i know think about when world war two is happening you imagine that i can't imagine that there's no possible way that i can't well i'm just saying like like at any time they were telling them nukes gonna drop anytime be ready yeah they won't send warnings um yeah so that that's some despair for the future yeah but i see what

you're saying i know what you're saying but i see hope for the future popping back to the minecraft situation with that movie heck yeah that yeah and i know that it was meme driven i know it was a lot of the people that were doing it were recording themselves doing it but there's a lot of people not recording themselves yelling chicken jockey they were just doing it they were just there because it was fun they were in the moment they were having fun i don't agree with their friends

you know what making a mess in the theater that's whatever breaking stuff no not cool with that but throwing your popcorn on the ground you know what the theater staff i feel sorry for you hopefully they gave you a little extra bonus or whatever jack black come into some of the theaters being like please don't do that right and i thought that was so silly thank you jack for being alive but at the same time you know you get a you get a leaf blower in there and get it all in

one corner and scoop it up with a shovel you know um and that that happens sometimes and most low-paying jobs something's gonna happen and it's gonna be crappy for a couple weeks and then everything's fine um but the fact that people are going to movies kids teenagers young adults going out with their friends into public and having a good time and letting the public letting loose into the out now into the out um it's a home reference i love and i don't know i kind of like it it gives me hope

i'm starting to see and again what this is real life not the internet when i pull up to pick you up at your school very few of you teenagers have your phones out absolutely very few when i see teenagers hanging out around town they're not all staring into their phones like the the internet or movies or whatever have you believe i think your generation is seeing the phone as too much of a tether like you i think y'all do rely on them well for the good part yeah yeah well i mean you rely on

them for things that they can be relied on for but not you obviously well i meant like i meant like the um the majority of people are not majority like most people that i know aren't tethered to their phones right and i think it's just because it's become normal like my generation we didn't grow up with this stuff i mean we didn't have back in my day we didn't even have a personal computer at the house

most folks didn't we did on account of my granddaddy worked at ibm but uh you know like you kids you grew up with these things you're used to them it's might as well just be a wallet you know you just it's just something that's there you use it when you need to and i don't know darn generation those phones kids and their phones i see more people my age glued to their phones right oh my gosh every single time i walk into like the daniel are both in your phone i'm like

your generation those darn phones i'm buying stuff off of whatnot i can tell there's something i wanted to order earlier oh i know what it was well let's not talk about our buying habits on the show yeah unless we should make like a amazon wish list and have our our awesome listeners buy us junk i think it'd be really funny for them to buy this okay tell us what it is i wanted i wanted a poker chip set oh i know i see those at the thrift store

all the time for like two bucks all the time i didn't know you wanted one i do all right so what else we got okay uh nothing is serious anymore uh we already did that one oh online dishibition effect there you go online dis disinhibition inhibition effect now anonymity on the internet i'm getting there let me do my thing dad

Anonymity

okay so i want to say something about that the online disinhibition effect is people saying whatever they want to because they're on the internet and they're anonymous which is also leading to people realizing that the digital footprint is a thing and getting jobs can be harder if you have a rough digital footprint there's been a lot of more frequent happenings that happening oh yeah a lot of a lot of companies will scour your social media before they hire you and people are like oh crap

but the online disinhibition effect is just people not being afraid to speak their mind even if it's like a terrible take or a terrible thing to say which also leads into like the trolling aspect right well there you know what i mean there are ways to be anonymous anonymous anonymous yeah there you go anonymous enough like it would take some actual like actual hacking to get and figure out stuff but most people

they who do the anonymous stuff they're either a trying to get clicks you know trying to build something or whatever or they just feel like they need to say this thing it's in them and they have to get it out and they don't want it to affect their job you know um so how do you feel about anonymity on the internet anonymity on the internet i feel like it's mostly a good thing but i also feel like there is lots of negative aspects to it because anonymity on the internet it opens up sorry if you're

listening like 2x speed that was terrible hey ben ben what you were talking like ben shapiro i was and then oh no let's say hypothetically like five seconds ago i was on the internet and i was anonymous what was i saying where you brought up ben shapiro online anonymity is good yes no mostly on the flip side of the bad you can say whatever you want on the internet and it be anonymous and you could really like do you could post some terrible crap on the internet and be anonymous and

no one would ever know who you were in real life which i think about a lot i'm like there's some people that have made like history on the internet for some terrible crap they've done and they're just out there so they're out there living they're going to starbucks they're getting a coffee right but i mean there's there's always been that it's just the internet brings it up so like there's always been

the the cop who is an exemplary cop at his job and has all the awards and the public loves him and all that and he's you know doing bad stuff to kids but he knows how to cover it up because he's a cop you know there's always been people doing bad stuff anonymously um but when i see them pushing for anonymity to be banned i feel like that that's a very bad very bad thing um simply because some things that are extremely unpopular still need to be said

um and when you've got uh when you've got a people paying people online to push certain agendas which is known it's it's a thing that happens um people get paid to push certain agendas those agendas become just popular enough to get you get your boss nervous if you say something against that agenda it gets you fired but you know that that agenda is bad right so sure right so let's say that there's something going around saying um um screwdrivers are the worst right it's the worst tool

in the whole world and you're like no they're actually good they're they're good for screwing screws in but they're really paying a whole lot of people to talk bad about screwdrivers and it's starting to convince people man screwdrivers the worst right and it's controversial to talk good about screwdrivers and i'm like guys look without screwdrivers how are we going to unscrew screws and screw screws into things and my boss who's just worried about bad bad press from these

people who are getting paid to you know slam screwdrivers are um oh that would hurt but uh they're getting paid to do this so it makes my boss nervous and he's like look i gotta let you go because you're you're gonna cause some trouble for the company if you're with all this pro screwdriver talk and um now i can't tell that guy who just woke up from uh memory wipe surgery i can't tell him that you need a screwdriver to unscrew that thing to open up the back of your game boy advanced

because you need to change something in it and he's just to be sitting there looking at the screw like how am i going to get this out of here i can't use a screwdriver because those are bad and there's nobody telling him no actually it's pretty good pretty good thing you could use it you know what i mean i went all the way around town to get to that but you know what i'm saying and i am also a big fan of letting people talk because if you let somebody talk long enough

they'll tell you who they are yes when someone tells you who they are i believe them and when somebody tells you who they are i've told you this how many times you just popped out right i did when

Let People Talk

somebody tells you who they are believe them i love that and when anonymous people start talking about uh how you know okay let's let's flip it you got an anonymous person talking about how bad screwdrivers are right wow that guy's dumb right the whole of society knows that he's dumb and wrong right um but there's a group of people who start following him who aren't anonymous and they start up

voting his stuff and they start saying yeah man right on screwdrivers suck right now i know who to avoid when it comes to good advice on tools so let people tell you their bad ideas and then you'll know to avoid them you know yeah so that's how i like it i like i like when the okay this is going to sound bad when i start saying it so just hang in there okay i'm i like when the neo-nazis spray their spray

Let Me Finish!!

their hate on the internet i said let me finish cut it cut it cut it cut it cut it cut because then i know who the neo-nazis are and i know to avoid them that's true sorry sorry sorry i had a sweat in my throat so that was that's why i said let me finish and that's one see that's let me finish that's let me finish look i'm gonna let you finish but beyonce had the best look i'm gonna let you finish look i'm gonna let you well no because i want to

know coming together i want to know who the people that i don't agree with are so i can either watch them closely or you know block them ban them whatever mute them however you do it on whatever so i don't know i like to hear i like to hear that people are still stupid enough to be spewing stupid crap out there because then i know they're not hiding somewhere on some dark web forum to where you'll never know who they are i want to know who they are i want to know who my enemy is i had a guy

threatened to beat up everybody at the bar i was at one time so me and me and my buddy stood up and started walking towards him because we couldn't see his face and it's like somebody threatens my life i want to see his face you know so take that as a you know it's like a life advice thing i want to know who the bad guys are and it makes it easier when they you let them talk if you cancel them if

you stop them from being able to post they're just going to sit in their little little group on a bbs or whatever and a bulletin board system old tech sorry i like knowing what abbreviations mean yeah yeah sorry i've talked about them before i didn't know if you still remember but yeah i like to know who the bad guys are in my opinion bad guys because yeah some people may think people with differing

opinions yeah on who the bad guys are yeah um i'm good on my point good finish what i'm i hope i've i've given you some insight on something some food for thought some penny for your thought your one thought lube job while you wait this is simpsons reference um i believe that online anonymity is good because a lot of things need to be said uh i also i don't want enforced hot in here non-anonymity yeah because that would be really bad like you can't get on the internet

unless we know exactly who you are um yeah because that just that leads to all other kind of problems why is 420 written at the very bottom okay don't worry about it don't worry about it i'll tell you later that's why it's there i put it at the very bottom so we can talk about it off the thing because i have a i have a funny joke to tell you gotcha okay uh i i wanted it when i was looking at the current events i saw an interesting article my bad there was a flamethrower attack

what in korea what well that's believable a dude put some oil which one uh korea nor what

Flame Thrower Attack

seoul so south yeah south korea i'd say north korea i i think i think i don't think that happened north korea to be honest no i think of it as korea and north korea yeah me too so when i say just korea i'm talking about south korea i assume so um so basically this this guy they don't really know the motive or they do they haven't released it basically he took oil and you know the pesticide applicators they're like the can with the pump on the top and you can spray bug spray yeah uh he

took one of those and filled it with oil and used it as a flamethrower um it looks like the only person that was killed was him oh so you know rip uh there was other people injured of course because you know building was on fire but i thought it was crazy like wow he took a he made a homemade flamethrower with a pestis pride oh my gosh my bad and i can go into we'll go into cancel culture on a different episode all right i'll save these notes um because we're already sitting at an hour

and 10 minutes almost so and well i don't know what it's going to be after we bleep out all that stuff right um all right well everybody have a fantastic uh fantastic we hopefully we'll get another we're hoping we're on we got a schedule down and it's on it's even on the calendar it's on the calendar it's on the calendar we put it on the calendar so we have so much stuff on the calendar right now i know we do it's ridiculous all right bye everybody bye everyone
